What a bunch of amateurs. I've done this before, and in fact am doing it (typing with my eyes closed) right now. I can't recall exactly why I did it before, but I seem to recall it having to do with the fact that I used to have a job where I had to go in at 4:30 in the morning.

Ok, now let me try typing while watching TV. I am currently watching the local news, and it is sweltering hot for it being a late-October day (88 degrees at 4:59 p.m.) Ok, let me try typing again with my eyes closed. Oh yes, that semester of "keyboarding" class (typing + learning correct word processing procedures) back in high school has paid off dividends. Thing is, I'm so used to thinking of that as a requirement for high school that I'm kinda taken aback that there would be high schools out there that wouldn't require this of their students pre-graduation.

Oh, and I can put my fingers into their proper keyboard positions while having my eyes closed, too. Ta. Da.

typing with your eyes closed isn't hard if you're used to typing the way they teach in school. I'm typing with them closed right now. I also type while my head is turned and people in the office are talking to me about stuff. I'm pretty sure this will be free of typoes when I open my eyes. No cheating! :)

I am typing with my eyes closed and my ears open. I just opened my eyes to look at what I wrote, but decided it wasn't enough, so I clopsed my eyes again, and started typing again. Now this is interesting. Somewhere in the sentence before last I fucked up, and stuck an extra letter in somewhere, I'm pretty sure. Normally, my reaction would be to keep going for a little while until I realize and go back and fix it. See you can do that with your eyes open. But with eyes closed, I waited long enough that it was too risky to figure out how long ago it was that I fucked up. So I said fuck it. I still haven't opened my eyes yet, and I'm running out of things to say. Except that my friends's band gutbucket is playing in boston tomorrow night. So if you're in Boston you should go see them. I don't remember where they;re playing, but I do remember that they said the klast time they played Boston, they were on the cover fo the Bostich Globe calendar section. So you should be impressed by that and go hear my frend become a crazy person with a saxophone. Then theyre (see I did it again there), going to go to Seattle (ij oh) and lpay with Roscoe Mitchell. Wow. Ok, time to open eyes again.

Hurray some of us have found a few things out - like we need more Mavies Beacon courses. Actually why do most people learn hopw to type the letters and then give up when it comes to the numbers? Still have to look at the keyboard for 3's and 8's and 0's except for when doing this and it doesn't matter which number you get. But what if you're an accountant or something? I am deeply worried.

PS the key to doing this well is that if you sthink you made a mistake you should just assume you did and use control-shift-left arrow (or alt-shift-left arrow on a mac) to highlight the last word and then erase it and try again

Last week I interviewed for a transcription job on grounds that typing well is pretty much my only marketable skill. I can at least type quickly, and I also hope i can type accurately. not bad! I took one typing class in high scool;, maybe 10th grade? Also (and this is probably more of a factor), when I do research, I'm always copying quotes form books into my computer. SO I'll have a book open next to the screen, and type while looking at the book instead of the screen. So I'm actually quite skilled at this, even to the point of 'correcting' myself as I go, wwith a sens of how man ybackspaces I need to click to get rid of errors. Of course now I'm gonn open my eyes and see that I've made a dog's dinner of this post, I'm sure.
