so like my britishes ladyfriend found out today that she's going to austin for sxsw for work, and i realized that jetblue flies there now, so i bought a ticket (mainly on remaining credit - yep, still broke). anybody gonna be around the weekend of march 17? out-of-towners? natives? i have no idea what shows i'll go to see, and frankly i don't even care if i go to any, but it'd be fun to hang out. texas sam, you there that weekend? any other ilxors live there anymore? damn i don't remember.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 04:52 (twenty years ago)

...possibly?

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 05:48 (twenty years ago)

guaranfuckinteed

LC, Wednesday, 11 January 2006 06:11 (twenty years ago)

i live there (or here, as i like to call it) but don't go to SXSW shows. who's coming this year?

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 06:24 (twenty years ago)

also, many of friends are excited about the new jetblue service to new york and boston.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 06:29 (twenty years ago)

I'll be here then and all other days. I don't do much SXSW either but will be glad to meet up with folks.

actually that's when our lease is up so hopefully we'll be moving into our own home. we'll see.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:28 (twenty years ago)

i hope to be there, o yes.

i am not a nugget (stevie), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:46 (twenty years ago)

i will be there on work as well. but unlike last year, i wont be hobbling around austin with a sprain.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:47 (twenty years ago)

Maybe we could have a Moving FAP! uh, no? (seriously our lease is up on the 15th)

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:16 (twenty years ago)

i get around midnight on friday, so it'd prolly have to be saturday or sunday. leaving monday morning, that's when the cheap tix are available.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:17 (twenty years ago)

I was kidding. If I have any say in jit I won't be lifting box one. We'll go down to the home depot and get some day laborers!

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:18 (twenty years ago)

I might be there. Depends on whether we get accepted into an official showcase or not, and if we can manage some other dates around the same time.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:20 (twenty years ago)

Living in Dallas I always loved SXSW time as it meant lots of good shows that were easy to get into to. (unlike at the actual convention)

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:21 (twenty years ago)

i was going to go, then i wasnt and now i am going as im on a panel. but all the hotels are booked up. HELP! anyone need a roommate?

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Monday, 23 January 2006 20:29 (twenty years ago)

man. . if my housing situation wasn't going to be up in the air then I would help you out.

You might keep an eye on Craigslist. If I hear of anything, I'll let you know.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 23 January 2006 20:42 (twenty years ago)

I am always in Austin. And I don't just mean my own skin, I mean the city.

I fuckin' HATE sxsw though, and have gotten intolerant enough of crowds I don't even like going out to live music much anymore.

Maybe I shouldn't have bothered posting this.

austin d, Monday, 23 January 2006 21:09 (twenty years ago)

my excuse for going to austin is to sit in a hot tub while the east coast is going through the dregs of winter. im in bed by midnight.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:11 (twenty years ago)

I've felt that way forever Austin. This past year I went to a handful of parties/in-stores but didn't even bother with any real shows.

I think it's partly b/c I just don't care about music much anymore.

xpost, but it's been cold the past few days! Like in the low 50s! I even had to wear a jacket when I walked Missy this morning.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:12 (twenty years ago)

miss misery, when i landed in austin last year [a few days early of the festival], it was 30 degrees. i was like, "WTF I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET AWAY FROM THIS SHIT" and was shivering as i walked down south congress ave.

i understand you guys hate sxsw and thats cool. i do my best to keep it low-key.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:40 (twenty years ago)

i actually like going to shows more now since the smoking ban. i'd rather have a hot tub though. my apartment only has a shower.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:41 (twenty years ago)

but it's a really nice one!

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Monday, 23 January 2006 21:41 (twenty years ago)

im going too. see you there.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 23 January 2006 22:20 (twenty years ago)

We should try to schedule a SXSW FAP closer to time if it can be arranged. I remember last year everybody having crazy, busy schedules.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 23 January 2006 22:26 (twenty years ago)

I'm not totally certain of this, but I think I may have not gone to a single live show all last year.

It was a really sucky year in some other ways, too, though.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Monday, 23 January 2006 23:03 (twenty years ago)

Supposed to be playing there with the band, but I'm not sure where/when.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 00:07 (twenty years ago)

shit, all the hotels ARE all booked up!!

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 00:33 (twenty years ago)

I have a hard time believing anyone is surprised by this. The biggest convention of the year, combined with the city's biggest tourism even - of course everything is booked up.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 00:55 (twenty years ago)

evenT

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 00:55 (twenty years ago)

but its still like 7 weeks away!

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 00:56 (twenty years ago)

Not for you. For you it's 59 weeks away.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 00:59 (twenty years ago)

7 weeks. you underestimate my ability to find places to stay for free without having to suck dick. or evn having to suck dick, thats ok.

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 01:01 (twenty years ago)

maybe i should rent out my apartment that week and use the money to buy a plane ticket to belize.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 01:17 (twenty years ago)

Many people do leave town and rent out their places. Not bad. Unfortunately we will most likely be moving that week. bleh.

I should clarify my post earlier. I didn't go to any shows (other than parties/instores) last year during SXSW. We probably see one show a month these days. That's down a huge amount from our past 2-3 shows per week. We're just too old.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 01:24 (twenty years ago)

austin, ive never had to worry about finding lodging before the new year; now, all downtown hotels were booked up by early december. its sort of disturbing how registration has increased from one year to the next.

i check out all the bands im going to miss in the next 2-3 months due to plain parade's show schedule, shifting my expected showgoing expenses [which ive drastically cut down on anyway] to just one concentrated week of music. music, not partying, is the operative word here, because i hate being social. in a twisted way, sxsw is my alone time.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 03:45 (twenty years ago)

eek. i really don't want to crash at various people's hotel rooms though for 10 days. im there for sxsw interactive and music both.

but i dont have a drivers license. are cabs expensive in Austin? there are some hotels like 3-4 miles away from the fun stuff..

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 05:45 (twenty years ago)

last time i was there, we ended up staying about a 15-20 min drive away from 6th st. cabs weren't too pricey, especially when the amount of money we were saving on lodging was factored in.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 13:56 (twenty years ago)

you don't have a driver's license? *points and laughs at Phil*

;)

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 17:23 (twenty years ago)

well i had one, but it expired abour 4 years ago

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 19:07 (twenty years ago)

well mine expired last month and I can't get it renewed until I take care of two warrants. And I can't drive my car b/c the inspection's out and I don't want to risk getting pulled over due to the previous. That's so ghetto.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 19:42 (twenty years ago)

i'm brazenly driving around with an expired inspection sticker.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:02 (twenty years ago)

Maybe you could just close in the bottom of the 5 with a marker to make a 6.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:09 (twenty years ago)

ahh, but do you have warrants and an expired license too? Ironically my warrants are from tickets for expired inspection sticker and expired license. :(

xpost - I have thought of this but the stickers go on the inside of the windshield. I'm afraid the po-po are too sharp to be fooled by marker on the window.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 21:11 (twenty years ago)

Will there be any niggers there?

june bug, Tuesday, 24 January 2006 23:32 (twenty years ago)

nah, i just have a smashed headlight. which is why my inspection sticker is expired.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 23:34 (twenty years ago)

I have a f*ed up transmission and god knows what else. As soon as I have money to buy another car or scooter I think I'm just going to roll mine out into the street and leave the keys inside.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 17:18 (twenty years ago)

Is it essential to get a SXSW badge? Or is it like CMJ, where you can just pay or talk your way into each show/networking-event

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 28 January 2006 18:03 (twenty years ago)

I'm going to be going because I'm on a panel on the Saturday. I'm not sure where I'm staying, though.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Saturday, 28 January 2006 18:08 (twenty years ago)

phil, the only reason people blow 600+ on a badge is the cachet/status/whathaveyou. if you're into that, hey, its your money. i have a badge this year because im on a panel but in all previous years ive gotten by quite nicely with a wristband. i still think its the better deal!

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Saturday, 28 January 2006 18:36 (twenty years ago)

yeah I'm not sure about badges but wristbands are a bit pointless. They don't guarantee you admission and it seems just as easy to talk/pay your way in. Keep in mind the best SXSW moments aren't official ones -- parties, in-stores etc are key.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Saturday, 28 January 2006 21:21 (twenty years ago)

i disagree about wristbands being pointless. sure, if you want to go see the bigger acts, yeah, its not going to help you. however, if your goal is to jump around between lots of shows, its perfect for that.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Sunday, 29 January 2006 07:56 (twenty years ago)

I wouldn't pay for one. The times I've had them the use I got didn't seem worth the price charged for them.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 30 January 2006 02:20 (twenty years ago)

Just go see great bands that aren't the buzz bands this winter, and you'll be able to pay a cover and get in. And pick up the daily editions of the Austin Chronicle and search online for all of the choices for non-SXSW day parties, and you'll get a weekend of great music. Last year you could've seen the Merge BBQ, the Harp BBQ, and the Schubas BBQ and seen 15 really good bands during the day, and paid $10/$15 covers and seen a zillion bands as long as you had more imagination than wanting to see M.I.A. or Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. I paid $10 at the Cactus cafe and saw Daniel Johnston, followed by Mark Eitzel solo, followed by Stan Ridgeway, followed by Michelle Shocked (again, none of them were bizz bands last year, but who cares) in a venue that holds about 150 people.

Eazy (Eazy), Monday, 30 January 2006 03:54 (twenty years ago)

that's cheap for the cactus cafe.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Monday, 30 January 2006 04:21 (twenty years ago)

im probably just going to go to the parties...

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 30 January 2006 04:37 (twenty years ago)

oh but i love bbq.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 30 January 2006 04:41 (twenty years ago)

Then you're in luck. Last year the Merge BBQ was at Pok-E-Joe's - such good BBQ.

Eazy (Eazy), Monday, 30 January 2006 08:38 (twenty years ago)

we almost saw the coachwhips play on a skate ramp. but it started raining so we left. The whole affair struck us as 12-yr-old boys' dreams coming true at 30.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 30 January 2006 17:44 (twenty years ago)

I really wish I'd know if we were playing or not.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 30 January 2006 17:46 (twenty years ago)

when are they supposed to release the final list?

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 30 January 2006 18:50 (twenty years ago)

me too jaymc

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 30 January 2006 18:53 (twenty years ago)

it's kinda brutal to wait this long to tell ARTISTS when everyone has booked stuff up already

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 30 January 2006 18:53 (twenty years ago)

"All acts will be notified of showcase status by February 7, 2006. Please DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL the SXSW office to inquire about your application."

that is pretty crappy. They should give you a place to stay if you're one of the last notified.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 30 January 2006 18:57 (twenty years ago)

The fact that we're not a label is almost certainly hurting us. Looking at the list of other bands from Chicago, a lot of them are in the same league as us in terms of amount of press, ability to draw in town, etc.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 30 January 2006 18:59 (twenty years ago)

"Not on a label," rather.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 30 January 2006 19:01 (twenty years ago)

maybe time to find a label?

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 30 January 2006 19:02 (twenty years ago)

Easier said than done, broheems.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 30 January 2006 19:02 (twenty years ago)

you just have to be a shameless self-promoter. like ME!

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 30 January 2006 19:06 (twenty years ago)

you should go to sxsw anyway, even if you dont play

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 30 January 2006 19:08 (twenty years ago)

finding a label used to be the purpose of SXSW. But sadly it seems that focus has become lost in the shuffle.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 30 January 2006 19:09 (twenty years ago)

"You know, SXSW turned into a hardcore sex festival so gradually I didn't even notice."

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Monday, 30 January 2006 21:42 (twenty years ago)

http://www.sxswbaby.com/node/159

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Monday, 30 January 2006 21:43 (twenty years ago)

I had hoped that link was going to be a site for people who had conceived while at sxsw.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 30 January 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

Morrissey is

http://2006.sxsw.com/

Mary (Mary), Monday, 30 January 2006 22:33 (twenty years ago)

It's official: I'm not going. :(

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 22:15 (twenty years ago)

sorry dude. woulda liked to see your band!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 22:47 (twenty years ago)

bump.

is anyone going to be there for the film/interactive bit earlier in the week?

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:04 (twenty years ago)

sorry jaymc.

when are you coming phil?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

did anyone here get press credentials? i sent a request in on friday and haven't heard back, but i'm assuming they're swamped. the badges don't sell out do they?

yuengling participle (rotten03), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:22 (twenty years ago)

im coming march 10th or 11th for the sxsw interactive. then staying all the way thru until the following sunday, so i'll be in austin like 9 days or so. bbq, yum. hot texans, yum.

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:29 (twenty years ago)

who wants to pick me up 3/14 at midnight?! [i have a staff meeting earlier that day, so i have to take a late flight]

i leave 3/20 around 6pm. someone please hang with me.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)

did you find a place to stay?

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:49 (twenty years ago)

????????

account settings (account), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:52 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah, thats been taken care of for a long time.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:53 (twenty years ago)

i see camera obscura are playing, but i'm skeptical of my chances getting into the merge showcase sans badge or wristband. hopefully they'll play houston or dallas.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:55 (twenty years ago)

i get very uncomfortable in crowds. this is my first sxsw because every other year it conflicted with the no fun fest (which it also does this year but i hafta play no less than three showcases in austin), i hear it's like an indie rock mardi gras. sounds dreaful.

in between playing for free three times, i'm going to make it a point to see Om, Destroyer, and the TeePee records showcase for Kalas and Witch. Beyond that, I'm going to be drunk in our hotel, hopefully swimming or doing something more fun that bumping into strangers.

cotton hill, Wednesday, 15 February 2006 23:03 (twenty years ago)

what band are you in?

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 23:05 (twenty years ago)

i still need to find place to stay from tuesday onwards.

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 23:11 (twenty years ago)

maria i'm in town until monday morning. buy you a beer?

yuengling participle (rotten03), Thursday, 16 February 2006 06:15 (twenty years ago)

I think there should be a sxsw fap. what's the best night/afternoon/morning for everyone?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 16 February 2006 15:36 (twenty years ago)

for me, either saturday night or sunday night. or maybe sunday afternoon.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 16 February 2006 15:37 (twenty years ago)

the 11-12th?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 16 February 2006 15:38 (twenty years ago)

maria i'm in town until monday morning. buy you a beer?

sure thing, dude.

sunday works best for me, since ill be too busy covering the festival during the other days.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Thursday, 16 February 2006 16:13 (twenty years ago)

So Sunday before, right? the 12th. Just trying to get this straight since I'm not involved in anything festival-related.

Venues? Would people like to meet somewhere *not* in the 6th st/Red River vicinty?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 16 February 2006 16:15 (twenty years ago)

no i'll be there 17-20.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 16 February 2006 16:16 (twenty years ago)

also my friends the weird weeds are playing an afternoon party on saturday the 18th, but i don't know where it's at yet.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 16 February 2006 16:22 (twenty years ago)

So Sunday before, right? the 12th. Just trying to get this straight since I'm not involved in anything festival-related.

no. everyone's coming into town between 3/14 - 3/20. so we're thinking about 3/19 for a FAP.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Thursday, 16 February 2006 17:00 (twenty years ago)

So is that a good day for everyone?

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Thursday, 16 February 2006 17:10 (twenty years ago)

i'll be out and about, so i can meet up whenever. thursday night is the iheartc0mix party at beauty bar, friday is the domino night, the pitchfork night, and i thin kthe vice party? and saturday night is the factory people party.

also, hey, so uh does anyone in austin know where to get, uh, fun fun stuff? and/or have cute & horny & single gay friends?

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 16 February 2006 22:32 (twenty years ago)

great, as soon as i move away from austin, there's something fucking GOOD at sxsw...

email from my friend:

"Oh by the way, XXX and I also got on the guest list for Whitehouse on March 17th after the [Tony] Conrad show and should get to hang out with them afterwards because they are old friends of Dave Kenny (Aeolian String Ensemble) Now that should be truly weird and fucked up. Apparently they are more extreme now than they ever were. Wish you could be there. "

yeah, me too. FUCKING A

killy (baby lenin pin), Saturday, 25 February 2006 21:44 (twenty years ago)

i have to be there for sxsw interactive / sxsw film the saturday to weds before sxsw music.. please tell me someone will be there too.

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 2 March 2006 03:02 (twenty years ago)

I will be here and would gladly take a break from tiling floors for a drink.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 6 March 2006 16:40 (twenty years ago)

denied!!

the worst thing about the sxsw rejection email is that subject line is "South by Southwest Confirmation Email for M***** S*******"!!!!

you get all excited only to find that the email is to CONFIRM that you have been REJECTED! brutal!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 6 March 2006 17:46 (twenty years ago)

rough news dude!

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Monday, 6 March 2006 17:54 (twenty years ago)

so. where are we gonna meet up? i had a dream i was at lala's little nugget the other night.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Monday, 6 March 2006 17:55 (twenty years ago)

i'm more upset about the email subject line than about being rejected!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 6 March 2006 18:01 (twenty years ago)

yeah that's shitty. sorry slocki.

I think anything around burnet would be great since it's out of the downtown madness - lala's, ginny's, poodle dog, even barfly's. there's also a great new place on the eastside called the peacock lounge.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 6 March 2006 18:05 (twenty years ago)

awesome. i like lala's because of the arcade games -- are those other places similar?

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Monday, 6 March 2006 18:12 (twenty years ago)

they're all dives. ginny's - honky tonk; poodle dog - biker bar; barfly's - has arcade games but can get frattish on weekends; peacock - a bit ghetto swank with fabulous blue walls.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 6 March 2006 18:15 (twenty years ago)

i've never been to austin, so i'll be okay with anything.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 6 March 2006 19:12 (twenty years ago)

chuggin' monkey it is! oh actually it burned down. damn.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 6 March 2006 21:34 (twenty years ago)

wooooo, its so nice and warm here.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 10 March 2006 23:44 (twenty years ago)

so, whats the plan? i noticed that karaoke underground is doing their annual post-sxsw bash at red's scoot inn. my friends flaked out on me last year, so i REALLY wanna go this time. any takers?

mts (theoreticalgirl), Saturday, 11 March 2006 00:33 (twenty years ago)

It is way too hot for this time of year. I have turned on my AC!

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Saturday, 11 March 2006 05:51 (twenty years ago)

yeah, what the hell is with 90+ degree temps in march? fuck off warm weather, we'll get plenty of you later. give us a cold front ASAP!

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Saturday, 11 March 2006 06:50 (twenty years ago)

ahhh the luxurious la quinta inn. the girl in the next room has been getting banged really really hard for like 2 hours now. i just ordered an 8" roast beef jimmy johns sub to take my mind off the hot action going on next door. i had a vodka soda earlier today and it was only $3!

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 11 March 2006 06:52 (twenty years ago)

i like austin so far.

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 11 March 2006 06:52 (twenty years ago)

is anything fun going on tomorrow nite, after my oh-so-exciting itinerary of sxsw interactive networking parties?

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 11 March 2006 06:53 (twenty years ago)

i feel like i should plug my friends' bands' shows for sxsw, but fuck it. i like my friends, but not their bands, necessarily.

killy (baby lenin pin), Saturday, 11 March 2006 06:54 (twenty years ago)

i ordered my sandwich like 70 minutes ago. it hasnt come yet. im getting delirious. i think theyre fucking with me. ugggh

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 11 March 2006 07:47 (twenty years ago)

IN AUSTIN, HOLLA
Body: heyyyy, got in tonight, late....went downtown while everything was closing, walked around for four hours to cop smokes and a hot dog...big ups to that one store that was open for smokes (pretty city but yalls bodega saturation is lacking...very few all night stores), various dog-callin local hoochies, and the cabbie who saved my life, picking me up while he was picking up family members...i think it's because i look so polite and non-pukey all the time...anyway i was stranded for an hour before dude saved me so hi fives to Fabrizio of American Yellow Cabs, Austin.

tomorrow (sat, 18th) i'm everywhere, and you know how I gets down...

daytime it's bidness, nightfall it's mayhem...Fixed and Parish

dealers holler...or holler at yr dealers...im fine w yr yankee pricing cuz i have no choice

LeCoq (LeCoq), Sunday, 19 March 2006 18:55 (twenty years ago)

oh man, i had to duck out of austin a day early. my body is so mad at me right now. did zz top really play the vice party? anyone make it to the rooftop gang of four show? did it stop raining?

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 19 March 2006 19:13 (twenty years ago)

HERE IS THE PLAN:

7PM TONIGHT
@ Red's Scoot Inn [1308 E 4th St]

i want to post my cellphone on here but i dont think thats a very good idea.

mts (theoreticalgirl), Sunday, 19 March 2006 21:04 (twenty years ago)

if i can get over there after the radio show, and people are still there, that'd work. le coq, you down?

hstencil en tejas (near alf avenue), Monday, 20 March 2006 00:15 (twenty years ago)

no ZZ top at the vice party, just a ZZ top cover band. it was kinda lame. but the whiskey was free so i'm not complaining...

rajeev (rajeev), Monday, 20 March 2006 01:22 (twenty years ago)

didn't make it. after radio show went to the star seeds (?) cafe for dinner, that was some seriously bad service.

hstencil en tejas again (hstencil), Monday, 20 March 2006 06:13 (twenty years ago)

thats starseeds for you. the karaoke was really fun. walking to the hotel in a downpour, was not.

mts (theoreticalgirl), Monday, 20 March 2006 07:16 (twenty years ago)

i know, it's crazy.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:46 (twenty years ago)

argh, I wish I had seen you guys. I missed lots of SXSW friends last week. Due to one, never-ending house shit and two, bronchitis/flu/shit. bleargh!

star seeds is a cool place with good salsa/migas.

stence, you should move.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:56 (twenty years ago)

i am seriously considering it. new york is for the birds.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:57 (twenty years ago)

although the job market here isn't too great. . .

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:58 (twenty years ago)

i could probably get a job where my friend nick works, but then that job makes him want to shoot himself in the face, so maybe that's a bad idea.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 24 March 2006 17:07 (twenty years ago)

hmm, where does he work? I have been looking for 6 months now. no good. when my unemployment runs out I'm probably going to have to temp or wait tables.

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 24 March 2006 17:09 (twenty years ago)

some weird utilities company or something. email me and i can give you his contact info, if you like. he sez they're always hiring, and it might be good to take a not-so-great job now, rather than be fucked later.
