you guys seriously need to watch that "cuet" one I linked to earlier. If you haven't, well here is what it is: It is an animated little glob who dances in every possible style (cycling through Indian, Mexican, Disco, Hip-Hop, etc, about 25 different styles) and then stops in a pose and drinks a refreshing beverage and sighs.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Sunday, 5 February 2006 17:16 (nineteen years ago)

Roxy, that's Qoo! He/she/it is the mascot for the Asian drink Qoo, which is fruit juice, more or less. I love Qoo!

omg!

I love the guy going "Let's Qoo Dance!!!" every time.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Sunday, 5 February 2006 17:33 (nineteen years ago)

what is qoo like?

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Sunday, 5 February 2006 17:36 (nineteen years ago)

It's just like juice, turbocharged with chemicals and sugar...kinda like Sunny D or something like that. I tried a bunch of different flavours while I was there and I think it was pear that made my mouth the happiest. There was also some yogourt-flavoured Qoo which was a bit creepy.

I'm happy because there's a supermarket just north of Toronto that carries it now. I'm sure if I looked hard enough I could find more inside the city!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 5 February 2006 18:09 (nineteen years ago)

Japenese yogurt-flavored stuff is the bomb Sean, pls do not hate

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Sunday, 5 February 2006 18:54 (nineteen years ago)

I am kind of obsessed with these kids. It's these high school guys who are so clearly film nerds of the highest order, and they make little movies wherein they pretend to be Tom Cruise and George lucas and ask each other about working with Dakota Fanning and crap. This one has like a minute of dead time at the beginning but it is all worth it for the Phillip Seymour Hoffman interview at the end.

at 31:10. hot damn that thing is long.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Sunday, 5 February 2006 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

I watched about 20 minutes, these guys are great! There's hours and hours of stuff from them too: their MSN space (see "finished projects").

StanM (StanM), Sunday, 5 February 2006 21:02 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah! I wrote to the guy Max once, but he was freaked out. I think.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 04:31 (nineteen years ago)

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 04:31 (nineteen years ago)

i wish that max kid were a famous actor, I love him.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

I watched the highschool guys being hilarious and "imitating" famous people (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4204412870059143372&q=%22perspective+pictures%22) one last night, and even though it's long (hell, can ffwd anyway) it's brilliant. I'm still trying to figure out what combination of boredom, drugs and teen cynicism/angst/av-program-ego they've got going on, b/c it's a freakin' winner.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Monday, 6 February 2006 17:07 (nineteen years ago)

I know! I fucking love them, tremendous, impossible. I went all "so not gonna happen" on them and foud one of the kid's livejournals, which goes back to when he is like 13. Haw.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 17:09 (nineteen years ago)

if you like the 2 dudes in the 2005 recap, you should watch Blast Time: The Making of a Film (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=543156594271406502), it's them pretending to be Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Dustin Hoffman and Russell Crowe acting in an action film directed by Woody Allen, written by Stephen King, and with a score by Elton John. They play all the parts.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 17:41 (nineteen years ago)

you gotta watch the phillip seymour hoffman bit though

OMG. Brilliant.

StanM (StanM), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:08 (nineteen years ago)

Yay!

the part about cayenne, omg. And the War of the Roses! This guy is the unsung hero of google video.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:09 (nineteen years ago)

And how his disabilities are revealed: first the long story about his one eye, then the other one, then his cape fear (Cape Fear!),...

I can't believe I watched the whole 50 minutes. I'm now looking forward to Blast Time (90 minutes!).

Thanks!

StanM (StanM), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:16 (nineteen years ago)

Blast time is not as good *warning*, but Max's "imitations" never fail to get me. I LOVED in the 2005 recap: "I feel as if I've been doused with a Cocktail"

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:17 (nineteen years ago)

omg, I love his Tom Cruise, flopping on the bed, smiling with half-lidded eyes, haha, man. The whole PSH bit is great and then he refers to some other actor and his "wooden eyes" - haha! These guys are awesome. If there's any justice in the world, these guys will be making "real" movies/tv one day soon. (have you figured out where they are yet? I'm just curious and haven't (yet) done the required sleuthing.)

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:18 (nineteen years ago)

god, I'm so glad these kids finally have another fan. If you click "see all movie by this user" there are like 25 short films they've made, most of them really recent, i.e. within the last year. I get the feeling that if they would stop being obsessed with improv they could make something truly incredible.

The Tony's Bar Show (an improv talk show -- this is how I originally found them, googling "Cillian Murphy" and finding Max imitating him telling an "anecdote about names" -- I fell immediately in love) is good some of the time, and these times tend to be when Max is
onscreen.

xpost I know everything about them. Seriously.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

It helps that they have like 700 websites and LJs.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

Has Max disappeared? Is it over?

StanM (StanM), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:28 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think so, I mean, they just made the 2005 recap a few days ago. I think he means he hasn't been updating the blog.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:29 (nineteen years ago)

Phew. I'm about 10 minutes into Blast Time now and it's been rather great already too - the way the funny stuff just oozes out of them and creeps into every scene, amazing. (and the way that Nicholson/Hoffman phonecall is edited, these guys are serious serious film freaks, man.)

StanM (StanM), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:38 (nineteen years ago)

I just sent them a link to this thread in the comments of the DLB Productions msn space. Maybe they will become ILX regs! I like how in the background of the movies you can see film nerd evidence (as if it were necessary) -- a Scarface poster...in "How Time Flies" you can see Dustin Hoffman on a screen playing a movie in the foreground.

Oh -- and the greatest thing in the 2005 recap in the clip of Max being Liam Neeson in Kinskey.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:40 (nineteen years ago)

His Woody Allen sounds a little like Emo Phillips (see one of the video clips on the bottom of that page).

StanM (StanM), Monday, 6 February 2006 19:51 (nineteen years ago)

Russell Crowe! (*passes out*)

StanM (StanM), Monday, 6 February 2006 20:02 (nineteen years ago)

They're totally Canadian.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Monday, 6 February 2006 20:05 (nineteen years ago)

Well yeah, there is a Canadian flag on top of their school in the documentary.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 20:06 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, right! And their accents too. And when they mentioned the town at one point (P@rksville - my grandparents lived near there for years) and I saw that it all looked pretty west coast, I felt an affinity. (Then I confirmed it with some jaymc-style internet sleuthing...) ANYWAY, I thank them for the entertainment.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Monday, 6 February 2006 20:12 (nineteen years ago)

aw

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 6 February 2006 20:14 (nineteen years ago)

Over the last couple of days I watched an hour of fake year in review and an hour and a half of fake making of a fake movie by two amateur teenage guys with no budget and no fancy camera and I wasn't bored at all. On the contrary, I enjoyed it and, in the end, I laughed more than during some officially released comedies I've seen.

Ideas and talent (and lots and lots of movie watching), that's all they have. But boy do they know how to use those things. That's it, I'm going to watch all their stuff now.

Roxy, thanks!

StanM (StanM), Monday, 6 February 2006 21:44 (nineteen years ago)

The Legend of Zelda - the Light of Courage

kingfish has gene rayburn's mic (kingfish 2.0), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 07:28 (nineteen years ago)

Wow. I've finally registered on this site.

Just wanted to thank RoxyMuzak, StanM, rrrobyn and whoever else enjoys our stuff. Sometimes we wonder if we even get any viewers, that our comedy is not really what the world enjoys. I think if one person is patient enough to watch our stuff and actually like it, we've done whatever we set out to do.

If any of you care, we will be making a lot more movies for 2006. Maybe we'll keep you entertained.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 19:39 (nineteen years ago)

Welcome! And thanks, watching even just a small portion of your movies has been an absolute joy.

I'll see if I can't convince a couple of my friends and collegues to watch too, and if they start the word of mouth thing, you never know, maybe in a couple of months you'll be able to put the coveted Big In Belgium stamp of approval on your site!

Er, yeah, well, anyway.

StanM (StanM), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 20:19 (nineteen years ago)

Whoa! It's Dustin! A god amongst mere men!

Reporting back to the dlb/perspective massive: just watched The Max Johnson Show Episode 1 "Hatcha" (took a little while to get going, but when it did: wooooo!) and "Living vs. Existing" (classic)

"Living vs. Existing" is classic, yes, and makes me wish I'd had a video camera back in highschool. All my projects would've been "multimedia."

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 23:42 (nineteen years ago)

I love Living v. Existing, too! I wish I could have voted in the Ceremoniums.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 00:57 (nineteen years ago)

Nobody hates Living vs. Existing, man. It's like Max's magnum opus.

Oh, I thought I'd mention that we made a movie especially for you guys. As soon as it's up on Google Video, I'll let you all know.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 04:20 (nineteen years ago)

I think we should continue to lavish praise on these talented and strapping young men.

Keep fighting the good fight, Johnson and Buursman! Keep fighting the good fight!

Max J. (max22), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 05:56 (nineteen years ago)

Heh. Max, you... you crazy... uh... I knew it was you, anyway. I mean, before the "Max J." at the bottom. Cause you put your name first.

Anyway, guys, here's the movie we made especially for you. Enjoy!

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

omg. this is the greatest thing ever. i am waiting for the movie to load...

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 17:31 (nineteen years ago)

God. This is completely surreal. For some reason it's bizarre for me to think that their movies are being made *now*, it seems like I'm discovering something a couple years old and they should be graduating from school and getting jobs. But no! A new movie today, talking about me and with my name in it. Bizarro. Completely bizarro.

Max, I wish you luck with your torso.

Dustin, you are a brilliant, brilliant genius and the impetus behind the whole thing.

HOORAY

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 17:46 (nineteen years ago)

Oh no! The success nearly killed them... :-(

And the cheeky way Max makes it look like we only praised him on here, that was brilliantly filmed, Dustin!

StanM (StanM), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 19:03 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks to us, that long lost stain was rediscovered too! Yay us!

StanM (StanM), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 19:07 (nineteen years ago)

Roxy: yeah, I kinda had that feeling too, that this was a collection of "look how great they already were before they were famous" home movies.

StanM (StanM), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 19:17 (nineteen years ago)

Glad you all enjoyed it!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 20:46 (nineteen years ago)

Congratulations on your best direction award - you can't lose! (if you're not disqualified)

StanM (StanM), Wednesday, 8 February 2006 20:51 (nineteen years ago)

Heh. Thanks. You know, if more people directed we'd have a little hint of competition. Oh, well.

First, I'd like to apologize for apparently hijacking the entire thread on here without even knowing it. Second, an Anti-Litter Public Service Announcement is up here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4705544617457257357&q=dlb

I haven't watched it yet, but I'm told it's Dustin's favorite of the three we made the other day.

Yes, on the other side of the world your films are causing havoc in the most unseemly ways.

However, I will give you the link that shows EVERY SINGLE ONE of our films: http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=Dustin+Buursma&lv=1

She's been known to sleep on piles of dry leaves... (papa november), Friday, 10 February 2006 01:11 (nineteen years ago)

Watched A Day In The Life Of A Student concept documentary yesterday. Man, what a boring school. No wonder geniuses like D&M need to vent their creativity by making movies. The Kelsey chase scene was pretty exciting, though.

StanM (StanM), Friday, 10 February 2006 06:45 (nineteen years ago)

2005 Year in Review is even funnier on 3rd watching (while converting others to Max and Dustin's way of greatness. And after watching Ronin.)

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 10 February 2006 06:47 (nineteen years ago)

OK I hadn't been paying this thread any attention but I wish I had haha OMG! Max, Dustin, you guys are hilarious :D It reminds me of my friend's radio show on community radio back in Canberra that we were all fangirls of (this was pre-internet, because I'm like, OLD), and we embarrased the hell out of them by actually sending fanmail and stuff.

Muchos entertainmento. Love it.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 10 February 2006 07:15 (nineteen years ago)

Oh PS: if it means anything I'm australian - you guys got a fan in Australia. WORLD FAMOUS!

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 10 February 2006 10:14 (nineteen years ago)

Max as Bus Boy = better than Tom Cruise, in any motion picture ever. I feel this in my bones, and my teeth, and cartilage.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 10 February 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

Litter PSA is indeed great - and that was after they found out they had fans, so the magic is still there!

Max as Bus Boy? In which one is that?

StanM (StanM), Friday, 10 February 2006 16:04 (nineteen years ago)

OMG, you guys used "Carry On My Wayward Son"?! I love you guys so much.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Friday, 10 February 2006 16:44 (nineteen years ago)

Max IS Bus Boy in "The Le Ham Movie"!!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 10 February 2006 18:26 (nineteen years ago)

Ah. Was going to see that one anyway, so thx!

StanM (StanM), Friday, 10 February 2006 19:32 (nineteen years ago)

I think their 2005 review may be literarily the funniest shit I have ever seen.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 10 February 2006 19:33 (nineteen years ago)

(also I have been laughing insanely every time I mention the words "technological difficulties" to myself, hahahahaha)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Friday, 10 February 2006 19:34 (nineteen years ago)

You know, "The Le Ham Movie" was written. That's right, we don't *always* do improv. Heh. I find it kind of odd that you'd think Max as Bus Boy is better than him as Tom Cruise since Kody Martel and I based the character Bus Boy on Max!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Saturday, 11 February 2006 00:43 (nineteen years ago)

Actually, I meant that Max was better than Tom Cruise himself!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 11 February 2006 01:13 (nineteen years ago)

I mean, seriously: Tom Cruise always plays the same role, really. Whereas it's quite clear from The Le Ham Movie that Max is an actor that is capable of wearing many hats.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 11 February 2006 01:20 (nineteen years ago)

Hahaha!!! I see what you did there.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Saturday, 11 February 2006 01:34 (nineteen years ago)

You know, you guys are great with your praise of almost everything. It astonishes me that our "local" audience, as we'll call them, aren't particularly enthused about Year 2005 In Review or half the stuff you all like. In reality, they prefer The Tony's Bar Show or The Eastwood Series (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3000912605939591686&q=Dustin+Buursma).

But there's one movie that Max and I love and our local audience loves and that's The Perksville Horror!

I doubt any of you have seen it yet because I've heard nothing of it but maybe, just maybe, you'll like it as much as we do. Next to Blast Time, it's our favorite.

The Perksville Horror!:

Man, this sucks. Why does Google Video load sooooo slowly for me? There's serious lag, and then the video and audio aren't in sync. I want to see Dustin and Max.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 09:15 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe try downloading the google video player and then downloading the individual movies? Might work.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 15:09 (nineteen years ago)

It's worth the trouble.

Perksville Horror is pretty hilarious too. I'm so glad there are so many Max and Dustin movies.
(And this thread should not be marred with self-involved videos of women in their mid-20s, even if they do have a bit of talent. Holy boring and depressing internet. It's like she's only a few steps away from being okay though. So maybe she'll get there. But she'll probably keep making videos all along the way.) Things like Max and Dustin's movies make me love the world.

Well, for the dlb/PP elites, you may want to know that the year 2007 will bring an end to our films. Max will be gradding this June and I next June and we just won't have the time anymore. Some of us may move away. So we hope to make a final film in 2007 that will really knock everyone's socks off. Somehow -- we're still figuring out how -- Tom Hanks got wind of this. Yes, that's right, *the* Tom Hanks. Don't believe me? Look at the letter he wrote us:

http://tk.files.storage.msn.com/x1pc_jqddVOWRkKlvfbyltpOZAfL_ZlafItyUinaKrjB1UYTlntiSeNPKKSq8rCnwW72I9tDMDr8yJjQOolm5dDJl05W_hjYrr8

So, we're excited about that.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Sunday, 5 March 2006 22:48 (nineteen years ago)

but 2007 is KIND OF a while away, yeah?

tom hanks looks like a bawbag.

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

That said, in re: the Ceremoniums, I am excited about Blast Time claiming the BP prize; it very much deserved the title. Ditto the Tony's Bar Show, for mainly sentimental reasons, i.e. it is how I discovered you guys (although I think I do also consider it the best of the four). The dark horse in this competition was obviously Nolan, with his who-saw-it-coming nab of the supporting improv actor title. Wow and congrats!

I'm happy that Blast Time pulled such a Crash on The Perksville Horror's Brokeback Mountain, though I wasn't happy about Oscar situation.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 18:05 (nineteen years ago)

query: why was the max johnson show not renewed after the highly acclaimed lost pilot episode? because really, that robin williams prank phone call had me in stitches for like 15 minutes

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Thursday, 9 March 2006 04:42 (nineteen years ago)

The Max Johnson Show is kind of a funny story. When we released it here, it was the biggest failure ever. I mean, no one could sit through it. I put it on Google Video in hopes *everyone* here would see it, but it kind of faded away. Then, out of the blue one day, some guy from South (or is it North?) Carolina adds my MSN praising the Max Johnson Show. It kind of tapered off, one opinion vs. the majoirty is nothing. But now you guys like it, too, which is leading me to believe that our city has an overall poor sense of humor. The show was cancelled due to our horrible local response. We'd bring it back again but we've got too much planned:
The Tony's Bar Show season 2
The Eastwood Series season 2
Spook Tales of the Nerd Bros. season 1
The Random Show (coming in the summer, we hope)

Dustin B. (Filligan), Thursday, 9 March 2006 20:50 (nineteen years ago)

I think the best shows are, ranked in order of most lols to most in need of editing (but all 3 are great):

1. tony's bar show
2. cooking with AAAH!
3. max j show

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Thursday, 9 March 2006 21:31 (nineteen years ago)

bring back the max j. show, pls!

i'm curious about this local/community aspect. like, why is their sense of humor so different from the internet's?

p.s. dustin - this message board is full of the internet's elite. like, the cream of the crop. for reals. im not even being kidding. well, actually, it kinda sucks, but, the dream was nice while it lasted.

p.p.s. i think you and longmont potion castle should team up for some major roffles. if you dont know what/who that is pls email me and i will provide you with some INSIDE-ISH SCOOP for the funniness. seriously, major funny. vintage funny, even - from like, 1992, when people had to prank call to provide teenaged amusement.

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Thursday, 9 March 2006 22:13 (nineteen years ago)

"Contractual Obligation Theatre" had me laughing for days. Days! Please bring that show back!

chrisco (chrisco), Thursday, 9 March 2006 22:18 (nineteen years ago)

Cooking with AAAH was just a movie... about a show

And no, I don't know who longmont potion castle is.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Friday, 10 March 2006 01:36 (nineteen years ago)

Whatever it is, it should be a show! The intro/backstory could be done briefly before every episode -- ala Mystery Science Theatre's "He worked at Gizmonic Institute...", etc. It has potential.

Also, Mandee, I think the difference between our opinions and their peers' opinions is based, surely, on age difference. I mean, the stuff I found funny in High School, while not imamture or stupid or anything negative like that, was often vastly different from what I find funny now. Don't you think?

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Friday, 10 March 2006 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

oh totally. i mean, not to say that the stuff i found funny in highschool was STUPID, but my sense of humor has definitely... actually, immatured.

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Friday, 10 March 2006 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

Jeeze, we knew about Dragostea Tin Dei (Numa Numa) before it was even popular. We wrote it in a script! But... the film was... *WAY* over our budget.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Friday, 10 March 2006 22:11 (nineteen years ago)

Good news: my Google Video uploader is working again so you guys will get to see our latest film any day now.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Friday, 10 March 2006 22:12 (nineteen years ago)

huzzah!

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Friday, 10 March 2006 22:34 (nineteen years ago)

my friends and I used to make movies and crap in highschool - i remember we made a horror movie called "Marionettes" about some students staying at a cabin in the woods for a weekend and some guys girlfriend shows up and causes a kerfuffle because this dude is banging all the chicks staying at the cabin, too, and someone gets KNIFED and then I think we quit.

oh then there was the horror movie about a girl (played by my sis) who goes on a killing rampage by killing people with cobs of corn. I am the first person to get murdered in the film and i play a stoner named harmony.

we also made little comedy sketches and things and at the time I thought these certain ones were beyond hilarious, but when I watch the videos NOW I find some totally hilarious that at the time I thought were DUDS.

Anyway I wish I could upload it all to google video! that would be KINDA FUNNY.

hey, mandee: was that killing with cobs of corn a reference to anything in particular, or did you come up witht hat on your own? cause i remember an actual horror movie where that occured.

dustin, I can't wait to watch that when I get home!

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 13 March 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

really?? I THOUGHT i came up w/ that on my own... but i had probably ripped it off from some other movie, without realizing.

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Monday, 13 March 2006 14:50 (nineteen years ago)

i don't know, i really doubt you ever saw it -- i can't remember its name, but I saw it in a theater when I was about 12, so like 1992-3? that is a really weird thing for two people to come up with independently, though! oh, and i should add that in the movie i saw people were STABBED with corn cobs. ?!?!?!

It's long and the winners are already announced but it's worth it for the montages at the beginning and any moment with Jack Nicholson and Woody Allen. Oh, and when Max calls his mom steamy.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Friday, 17 March 2006 20:11 (nineteen years ago)

Dustin B. (Filligan), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 04:48 (nineteen years ago)

Sidenote on the episode:

My favorite part is where Max takes my unbelievable call and I break the chair. It's at 21:39. You can tell from there on we're hopeless clowns.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 04:57 (nineteen years ago)

It's Max's birthday, everyone wish him well!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Thursday, 23 March 2006 02:15 (nineteen years ago)

HAAPPPYYY BIRTHDAY MAAAAX!!

I still don't understand how to play celebrity dice, but I like the celebrity part. I really liked Max singing the Happy Days theme song, hahaha. (I think I might have to add Max to my MySpace. But I also think that might be weird. But it's like advertising for the videos! MORE AUDIENCE GENERATION + etc.)

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Thursday, 23 March 2006 06:01 (nineteen years ago)

Thank you!

This (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liar_dice#Rules_.28individual_hand.29) has some rules that are easier to understand (sorry, Dustin, but I *still* didn't understand, and I was playing).

Max J. (max22), Thursday, 23 March 2006 07:10 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, wait, I forgot: what I linked to doesn't mention the addition of Small and Large Straights.

Max J. (max22), Thursday, 23 March 2006 07:11 (nineteen years ago)

Aaargh, one more: feel totally free to add me to MySpace, even though I essentially never use it.

Max J. (max22), Thursday, 23 March 2006 07:12 (nineteen years ago)

Neither do I, so we are even. But it seems to be a Popular Thing.

I think I'm going to stick to cards. And funny accents while playing cards, of course. And a cameraman getting in my face.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Thursday, 23 March 2006 07:15 (nineteen years ago)

Happy birthday Max!

StanM (StanM), Thursday, 23 March 2006 09:16 (nineteen years ago)

But it's such an easy game to learn! Everyone learn it! In fact, you won at lunch today, Max. I think you know how it goes.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Thursday, 23 March 2006 23:54 (nineteen years ago)

I slaughtered you all at lunch today, and don't you forget it.

...thank you, Stan.

Max J. (max22), Friday, 24 March 2006 01:25 (nineteen years ago)

i befriended max on myspace, and he probably thinks im a creep.

OH WELL HAHA i will watch this new video tonight

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Friday, 24 March 2006 01:42 (nineteen years ago)

Whoa, man. How do you make italics on here? And hyperlinks? And *ANYTHING*?!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Friday, 24 March 2006 06:39 (nineteen years ago)

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:20 (nineteen years ago)

Dustin, see the http://ilx.p3r.net/faq.php?board=1
You need to do teh ol html for such things:
italics mean putting < i >words you want to italicize< /i >
hyperlinks, surround words you want link with < a href="http://website address" >words< /a >

But take out the spaces after and before the < >

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:52 (nineteen years ago)

Man I found the best website ever created once - it was a geocities page devoted to "gwin stefini" by some kid named alex wolf and he told some pretty insanely hilarious jokes on his page, too.

I wish I could find it again :( :( :(

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Friday, 24 March 2006 17:05 (nineteen years ago)

AHHH I FOUND IT YAY!!!! It was an expage, not a geocities page. OH WELL ENJOY THE GENIUSNESS

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Friday, 24 March 2006 17:08 (nineteen years ago)

Here's a sneak peek at the humor:

ONE TIME I WENT TO THE STORE, AND A MAN SAYS, "WANNA BUY SOME BUBBLE GUM?", AND I SAYS, "NO.", AND HE SAYS, "WHY NOT?", AND I SAYS "I DON'T KNOW."

SAD STORY: ONE TIME THERE WAS THIS MAN, AND HE OWNED HIS FAVORITE DOG IN THE WORLD. THEY WERE THE BEST OF FRIENDS. THEN THEY DIED.

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Friday, 24 March 2006 17:10 (nineteen years ago)

Well, incase any of you are still alive, I have news: we decided to listen to those of you wishing for more Max Johnson Show episodes! The second season premiere episode, "Sometimes a Sword is Just a Sword", will be on Google Video once Max edits it together. Stab him with pitchforks until he does.

also, i love that you now have "tony's bar" eps with COMMENTARY. I adore you guys. Seriously.

And I'm still working my way through the ceremoniums, which are hilarious.

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Friday, 5 May 2006 14:50 (nineteen years ago)

To tide you over before Max starts work on the Max Johnson Show episode, he'll be presenting his follow-up to Living Vs. Existing called "Wish You Were Here".

But until *that* is put on Google Video, he's him laughing maniacally to tide you over... before the tide over.

Gerard (Gerard), Friday, 12 May 2006 16:25 (nineteen years ago)

-- Wish You Were Here is almost done. It started out as a fake video diary for my girlfriend while she was in Hawaii, but then it got longer, and she didn't have internet access, and also I kept putting it off. It got a little overlong, but I'm more or less happy with it. It uses the Pink Floyd track at one point.
-- Oh no. Oh no, not the laughing and thrusting montage. This has "terrible wonderful terrible Internet meme" written all over it. Everywhere I go people while be laughing girlishly and thrusting at me. This will be different from my normal life, because usually people just laugh girlishly at me.
-- I'll get to work on The Max Johnson Show when I'm done Wish You Were Here, but my computer is SLOW and CRANKY.
-- In conclusion, The End!

Max J. (max22), Friday, 12 May 2006 21:54 (nineteen years ago)

This is why I desperately wish you could edit posts on here: "Will be laughing girlishly and thrusting at me".

I also desperately hope I'm right about not being able to edit posts, because if you actually can, I'll look like a n00b.

Max J. (max22), Friday, 12 May 2006 21:59 (nineteen years ago)

No, you're right, you can't. It teaches you to either be really careful when you post or really comfortable with your fuckups. I fall into the latter group.

This cunted circus never ends... (papa november), Friday, 12 May 2006 22:41 (nineteen years ago)

Wish You Were Here is now up! Seriously!

The quality took a slight dive in the move to Google Video, and I don't know if the end credits are still readable (they're pretty small), but it should be all right as long as you make sure you're viewing at Double Size or Fit To Window (if you aren't, it will be the size of a postage stamp). Enjoy! Don't kill me for being boring!

Max J. (max22), Monday, 15 May 2006 23:48 (nineteen years ago)

I think... one of two things happened:
A) They all died or
B) They all died after watching the film.

Max, you mass murderer.

I'm just kidding, I like the film. My favorite part was with the sassy beaver.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

At least I tried.

Yes, I got all excited when I saw this thread because I thought you were releasing the new Max Johnson Show. I was heavily disappointed, but less so because I creeped Max out a little.

chrisco (chrisco), Sunday, 28 May 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

All of you crack your whips at once because my nagging simply won't get him started on the Max Johnson Show episode 2.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Sunday, 28 May 2006 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

I wonder why. Do your mails to Max happen to look like this?

Yo, Max,

People really want the Max Johnson Show episode 2, man!

StanM (StanM), Sunday, 28 May 2006 17:16 (nineteen years ago)

I would e-mail Max and remind him, but that would be creepy.

We're just all-around creepy.

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Sunday, 28 May 2006 17:51 (nineteen years ago)

No, I rarely email Max. I ask him every other day at school, "When are you gonna start editing the Max Johnson Show episode 2?"

It's always, "I dunno."

But I know what that means, Max! It means "Not for a long time because I'm lazy!"

Dustin B. (Filligan), Sunday, 28 May 2006 17:53 (nineteen years ago)

I have the same issue with some bags of popcorn at work. this one guy is always asking me when i'm going to photograph them and I say, "it's on my to-do list for today," but seriously, he's been asking after these damn bags of popcorn for like 3 months. then yesterday he gave me a huge box full of different kinds of jam; now it's going to be a popcorn-jam two-in-one nag from this dude.

i should make a movie about this epic tale.

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Sunday, 28 May 2006 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

I've just been very busy with things lately, like Prom, and the big important play I'm the lead in which starts on Wednesday, and the fact that I'm very behind in French 12. Also editing takes far longer than it should, because I have to turn all the settings on my computer way down, and even then it crashes if I move the mouse too quickly in Movie Maker, and WHO SHIPS A WINDOWS XP COMPUTER WITH ONLY 512 MB OF RAM? THE DEFAULT WAS 256, CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? WHY HAS DELL FORSAKEN ME???

...sorry.

Max J. (max22), Sunday, 28 May 2006 20:37 (nineteen years ago)

Also, Mandee: she hasn't watched it yet, because she's even busier than I am. But luckily, Dustin ruined the ending for her and made it sound very dark and creepy, so she's gotten some of the experience.

Max J. (max22), Sunday, 28 May 2006 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

It is dark and creepy! But the sassy beaver made up for all that.

And in the words of Phil Ken Sebben: Ha HA! ...Dell.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Sunday, 28 May 2006 20:41 (nineteen years ago)

i wish i were busy with prom and a school play!

yeah big mistake with a dell there dude.

i made a video diary for my boyfriend when i was 19. it was just me lounging on my bed listening to sad music and being pathetic. i gave it to him. probably a bad move. i should call him, and demand it be returned.

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Monday, 29 May 2006 00:06 (nineteen years ago)

Mandee, what is this job where it is imperative that you photograph various foodstuffs?

Max Johnson: At The Prom would be great, if only for the laughing and thrusting.

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 29 May 2006 00:56 (nineteen years ago)

im a quasi foodphotographer, quasi marketing chimp for an organic/natural supermarket chain. funnily enough, i hate the photography part.

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Monday, 29 May 2006 01:55 (nineteen years ago)

That sounds like too much fun. I'd always wondered about the people who set up those perfect-looking meals and casually toss grains and oats next to the bread.

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 29 May 2006 02:25 (nineteen years ago)

Hmm, apparently oats can't be made into bread. Don't put oats in the bread photos.

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 29 May 2006 02:27 (nineteen years ago)

well the closest i've ever got to food styling was photograph of different danish cheeses with some plastic grapes sprayed with water to appear glistening with DEW next to a wine glass full of grape juice. it was disturbingly ugly. yes, and most of what i photograph is packaged. pretty dull.

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Monday, 29 May 2006 04:34 (nineteen years ago)

I was just reading the comments on the IMDB entry for "Do The Right Thing" and I found one by a Max Johnson. Is it you?

Nope, I'm jackspades22 on IMDb.

Max J. (max22), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 14:30 (nineteen years ago)

HI-larious. Which reminds me: Max, did you know if your search your name on Google, the first result is this... thing... I never accessed it but the summary under the link on Google said "MAX JOHNSON MUST DIE!". I don't know if that's the first result anymore. Still, Nolan and I cracked up.

Also, congrats on becoming Valedictorian.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 22:46 (nineteen years ago)

Max J. is valedictorian!? Wow, you'd better make some ground shattering speech!! Dustin, is Max a year older than you? Where are you going to college??

Let me apologise in advance for this film.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 21:56 (nineteen years ago)

Oooh this one has swearing! ...and a dude I initially thought was Max with an emo haircut, but it is in fact Robert Dearin.

This cunted circus never ends... (papa november), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 22:32 (nineteen years ago)

"Dearin Films"? I'm laughing already. I'm not joking.
I'm going to watch this later tonight. Dustin made it a while back, but he put off showing it to me. NOW WHO HAS ALL THE CARDS?

Max J. (max22), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 23:34 (nineteen years ago)

Is it Dustin? I'm not sure.

chrisco (chrisco), Thursday, 1 June 2006 00:26 (nineteen years ago)

I wanted to have a deer in his logo... you know. Deer... in films. Ahh. But, uh, the cards... all mine. MINE. Nah, have a nine of clubs.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Thursday, 1 June 2006 02:10 (nineteen years ago)

For the love of Pete, Dustin, if you're going to shoot a movie in widescreen, save it in widescreen (856 x 480), not in this 720 x 480, not quite 4:3 but not quite 1.85:1 crap.

Max J. (max22), Thursday, 1 June 2006 05:14 (nineteen years ago)

I saved it in widescreen!!!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Thursday, 1 June 2006 05:16 (nineteen years ago)

I tell you, this compressing program is possessed. It likes to trick me into thinking I've got it saved in 16:9 when really it DOESN'T!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Thursday, 1 June 2006 05:19 (nineteen years ago)

Not nearly wide enough, it would seem.
Seriously, though. One look between Wish You Were Here and Never Work With Rob will show a noticeable difference. You saved at 720 x 480, and if you do the math you'll see that doesn't come out to 16:9.
It's Movie Maker's fault. When you go to "Save Movie File", make totally sure that it says 856 x 480, and not 720 x 480.

Max J. (max22), Thursday, 1 June 2006 05:21 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe it had to do with me editing on a widescreen laptop.

Was that an idiot remark? Should I hide from the incoming insults? WHY MUST YOU MAKE PEOPLE LOOK STUPID, MAX?!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Thursday, 1 June 2006 05:22 (nineteen years ago)

You guys need to nab a torrent of Final Cut Pro or Premiere or something. Then you'll really be cooking. Speaking of, I'd love to see you guys do a cooking show....although acting on requests is possibly beneath you :)

This cunted circus never ends... (papa november), Thursday, 1 June 2006 06:12 (nineteen years ago)

Actually... I bet it wouldn't be. But we already did a cooking show:

I figure you Americans will want to see Max's Bush.

(HUR HUR HUR)

Dustin B. (Filligan), Monday, 12 June 2006 03:45 (nineteen years ago)

If you ask me, it's a terrible Bush. Usually it just comes off as "generic Southern accent" because I can never keep anything up for longer than five minutes, ever. It's just plain sloppy, really.

Max J. (max22), Monday, 12 June 2006 03:46 (nineteen years ago)

This is one of those things that sound funny when you first think of it, and then it's funny in the trailer, but should never, ever, ever be made into a full-length movie. Especially with that Dearin guy.

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 12 June 2006 04:09 (nineteen years ago)

And by full-length, I mean anything longer than 5 minutes.

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 12 June 2006 04:10 (nineteen years ago)

The faith in us is starting to wane.

Dustin B. (Filligan), Monday, 12 June 2006 04:11 (nineteen years ago)

To be fair, I appreciate his honesty. Especially since it mirrors my own.

Although I like Robert. But he needs the right role.

THE BACKLASH BEGINS

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 12 June 2006 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

Don't get me wrong; I still think you're brilliant, and I've been holding my breath for the Max Johnson Show Part 2. Just don't fall prey to SNL syndrome.

Robert Dearin needs a role that 'unexpectedly' gets cut from the final movie.

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 12 June 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

What is SNL syndrome? Too many presidential impersonations?

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Monday, 12 June 2006 17:47 (nineteen years ago)

I was thinking more like skits that start out with a good idea but go on much longer than they should. "Sorta like the publishing company" redeemed Max's Bush.

chrisco (chrisco), Monday, 12 June 2006 18:10 (nineteen years ago)

SNL syndrome? I'd kill for SNL syndrome! We have Two Chimpanzees With A Video Camera syndrome.

Max J. (max22), Saturday, 24 June 2006 22:27 (nineteen years ago)

Syndromes always win. Didn't you see The Incredibles?

Speaking of incredible, here's our next film: Copson:

Oh, God! You can rate and comment on Google Video now. Be kind!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Friday, 30 June 2006 22:39 (nineteen years ago)

Oh I forgot to comment after I saw copson. I liked it, and Dustin, I'm beginning to appreciate your merit as an actor. Max is pretty much what you see is what you get but you're more measured in your delivery. Like two sides of a coin.

"MY TORSO!" is the funniest thing i heard this week.

This is a bit of a departure, and technically on YouTube, but I was the valedictorian for my high school, and my speech is up.

Click "More" in the description for a transcript if you need it (the ceremony was held at what's usually a hockey rink, and it echoes).

Max J. (max22), Sunday, 2 July 2006 22:40 (nineteen years ago)

congrats on graduating, max. WHATS NEXT???

did dustin graduate, too?

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Sunday, 2 July 2006 23:07 (nineteen years ago)

No, Dustin will stay behind for another year because he doesn't skip grades. SKIPPER!

(It's on YouTube... but that's only because YouTube is friggin' fast compared to Google Video, which it will also be on soon)

Keep checkin' http://dlbpro.spaces.msn.com/ for more stuff!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Monday, 3 July 2006 19:55 (nineteen years ago)

he skipped a grade AND was valedictorian!? some straight A student type who WAS previously THE BIG CHEESE is now plotting Max's death.

July Fools!
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2359251336486085063&hl=en

We finished this in April just in time for April Fools when we hit a technological snag. The problem fixed itself a couple days ago so... late April Fools!

Dustin B. (Filligan), Monday, 10 July 2006 23:51 (nineteen years ago)

Max, the sheer amount of applause you got at graduation made me realize that there is, in fact, justice in this world. Have they all seen your videos?

Brokemax Justin is pretty funny. And just the right length.

chrisco (chrisco), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 01:02 (nineteen years ago)

haha, that is cute. never stop!
(plus: congratulations, max, on graduation and being valedictorian!)

two weeks pass...
Wow, my e-mail notifications have not been coming through at all. Thank you, everyone! It's hard to tell, but the grads gave me a standing ovation. I was most pleased, though, by the fact that one guy threw a hat (the scheduled hat-throwing took place about five minutes later).

Few of them have seen the videos, but mostly all of them have seen the plays I was in, or just know me for my general awesomeness. And, of course, they saw my campaign speech when I was running for valedictorian (It was based on popularity, not grades -- AND YET I WON).

Max J. (max22), Wednesday, 26 July 2006 03:40 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, mine haven't either.

You see, this is why Max and I make a good team: he's so full of himself and I've got the self-esteem of dirt.

(Zing?)

Dustin B. (Filligan), Monday, 31 July 2006 17:20 (nineteen years ago)

"AND YET I WON" (and the speech itself, for that matter) shows that I'm just as self-deprecating as you, man.

Max J. (max22), Monday, 31 July 2006 17:39 (nineteen years ago)

you guys are fighting about who is more self-deprecating?

We're trying to get Max Johnson Show episode up ASAP. Til then, you can (try to) enjoy our latest disaster:

I think Max's take on this film is the best: "It's terribly flawed, but I still laughed."

Yeah, exactly. And the thing the guy on the left keeps doing with his arm. Reaching for the girl. It's interesting.
