a girl i know who does a bit of modeling says that everyone under 5'11" says they're an inch or two taller than they are, everyone over 6' says they're an inch or two shorter, and the people actually at 5'10"-5'11" are the only honest ones.

I was so off the mark about Danielle. She's awesome.

Fugronda needs to go. And Jade is still awesome, she's hilarious. Her whole mini-breakdown after not being able to use the phone was like the best moment in reality television history. "Bye Bye J.Lo. Bye Bye J.Lo" haha. I think she's great, her picture last week wasn't bad by any means... just not suitable for a magazine cover. They totally screwed her over with the makeover, however.

Brooke's non-ANTM photod are actually quite awesome. I think she's just overwhelmed by the whole experience.. though I did really like her Nurse photo.

Anyway, I still love Jade. She's so delusional... it's like Norma Desmond "Sunset Boulevard"-level! But's she actually takes a great photograph, has an amazinh walk, and is so quotable! And she has the face, the height, the body, etc... I really don't get why she isn't a big name model! Oh well.. here's hpping she'll get work after the show.

i understand that they keep jade around for drama but damn, everything she did this week SUCKED. how can you not understand what a QUESTION is?! anyway, she is kind of old looking and i do think she occasionally comes off kind of draggy, too. plus, if i were a casting director or photographer i'd kick her off my set because she's so obnoxious.

as for mollie sue, she was cute and i loved her but it's true that she wasn't anything spectacular. plus they couldn't have another floridian white girl with the hipster vibe (yoanna was a much more glamorous version of this, with more personality).

the remaining girls: i like danielle (but she's an idiot), i like leslie (but she's boring), and i like furonda (but she can be kind of scary and i worry that she's too thin and not glam enough). jade needs to go. brooke and joanie are sweet, but boring. sara needs to just go home and go to law school and marry her boyfriend or something cause she's clearly not into this. nnenna is still gorgeous but is getting a tad annoying and i feel like she doesn't really show that much spark, but she could very well win if she can get ms jay to like her. it will be fun to see what more comes from the jade preying on nnenna's bf situation thing.

Actually when they talked about accents there was this smiling/nodding thing going on that implied they'd talked about it before -- and given how life-coachy den-mothery Tyra likes to be, especially with the black contestants (and after doing this for a few years), it wouldn't surprise me if she takes people in that position aside and gives them a whole down-to-earth just-between-us "it's not always fair, but that's how the industry is" talk. I mean, maybe it's just because contestants on the show tend to know next to nothing about modeling as a profession (especially as the show goes along) but she's pretty big on cutting down people's "this is who I am" stuff and reminding them that it's a job and you have to deliver, professionally, or else you should probably find something else to do. And somehow she gets that across in a best-friend way that makes the girls appreciate her candor -- like encouraging them by reassuring them that they can deliver -- as opposed to like Dickinson, who says essentially the same thing in a witchier way.

Have I talked on here about how I met whichever winner that was who had the blonded blow-hawk thing -- the like quad-racial one who unlocked Mandela's cell and all that? I sat next to her on the subway and didn't really realize it was her until I noticed she was reading Janice Dickinson's book!

I'm still totally Nnenna-boosting. I had some sympathy for Brooke getting all on that case, except that all of her shit-talking attempts just sounded like they were about her own insecurity, from the "you're a chemist but you don't understand the phone" thing (cf last week when they were all "she's book smart, but she doesn't have common sense" -- intimidated much?) to the whole "go back to Africa" thing, at which point I take sides mostly on knee-jerk.

Okay but so Joanie is awesome, and I'm actually really sad they do dentistry-makeover stuff, because I really like her one snaggly tooth. Is it worth remarking that Furonda is the scary-looking skinny that you worry about? There was a reference to anorexia in the battle raps the other week, though i don't think it was directed at her. With Tyra's self-assurance/strong woman enocouragement thing, along with the desire for new plotlines, i can imagine this becoming an issue in the next weeks.

The battle line was just a general "so which one of you in anorexic" -- wasn't aimed at anyone. Furonda is skinny enough to kind of scare and distract me, like just on aesthetic grounds, but she's too interesting-looking to react to it as unhealthy. Which is to say, on a normal person that kind of skinny would be odd. But when she's already built weird and lanky and her head is light-bulb shaped and all that, then I have no frame of reference to imagine what size should look normal on her, you know?

i saw the recap show and the part where they showed clips of jade's made up words was awesome!

i'm guessing top 2 will probably be danielle and joanie. i love furonda but danielle seems a bit more "cover girl" than her (provided she fixes the tooth, which i think is not necessary, but the judges do). although i don't know if i've ever seen a top model winner in a cover girl ad other than the ones they air when the show's on, so maybe that doesn't matter.

By what possible standard is Nnena "dumb?" If anything her main problem was standing in as the educated elite, aloof and emotionally removed and pulling lots of (often legitimate) older/wiser moves at everyone else. (Ha, including her boyfriend: I'm still amazed by her whole "you're not making more sympathetic toward you" line.) There were times when it was kind of incredible how above-and-apart she held herself from everyone else, but I can't think of anything that would make me describe her as "dumb."

She is, but she's only got one "look" and it's not really the Cover Girl-look. I was still surprised she got cut so "early", but I didn't for a second think she was going to win. Unlike some of the girls though (even some of the remaining ones), I think Nnenna will be a model for someone. It just won't be for a make-up company.

Danielle was a godess on that runway. She deserved it, mos def. I'm way sorry for calling her fug early on... the video showed her during that press conference looking bummy with that huge gap... Anyway, she rocked it. And she's a sweetheart.

Joanie's Covergirl photo was stunning, her runway was disappointing, but she was amazing throughtout the show. Job well done.

sooo happy danielle won! just looking at joanie and danielle standing next to each other at judging, danielle looked so much more the model. they were both great, though.

so, about halfway through the show tonight, i noticed a magazine sitting on my dresser w/ a covergirl lash exact ad featuring queen latifah on the back cover and the pose/expression in her shot is VERY similar to danielle's cover girl photo shoot look. also, my sister decided that joanie's look was very similar to molly simms', so maybe they'd go for danielle.

i liked Joanie a lot more in this episode than I had before, she was really wasn't standing out to me all along, but seeing her photos in quick succession like that I was very impressed. Danielle is gorgeous though. Anyway with the exception of Yoanna House no-one who has won this has gone on to do jack, so what does it matter? maybe she can marry the youngest Brady.
