Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Monday, 3 April 2006 02:32 (nineteen years ago)

jimmy the mod was the official wedding photographer, so if you want to see awesome, classic black and white photographs, talk to him.

if you want to see cheesy digital camera snapshots, though, the rest of us will provide.

geeta (geeta), Monday, 3 April 2006 02:36 (nineteen years ago)

How much does that photo ever rule. :-)

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 3 April 2006 03:42 (nineteen years ago)

Not in a bad way. I just mean it spins me out a bit that people who met through ILX should wind up getting hitched.

I just mean it spins me out a bit that people who met through ILX should wind up getting hitched.

It's all your fault, ya punk!

(Who proposed that FAP anyway? Christ, was it me?)

geeta (geeta), Monday, 3 April 2006 03:45 (nineteen years ago)

I need to do that too! But not a frog, I guess it's already claimed for an anniversay present or something. ;-)

I am listening to Diamonds and Pearls in honour of their loving union.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 April 2006 03:46 (nineteen years ago)

Nice job, M. Oh man, I couldn't get totally wasted because I had to drive back to VA afterwards--which I could barely manage sober. I wish I could've gone to the bar too.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 April 2006 03:49 (nineteen years ago)

Tazel Mov, y'all.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 3 April 2006 03:49 (nineteen years ago)

Geeta, you're trying to reenact the cover of the Cocteau Twins' Treasure there, I see.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 April 2006 03:49 (nineteen years ago)

Geeta, you look like a Bollywood character.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 April 2006 03:52 (nineteen years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 April 2006 03:52 (nineteen years ago)

Still sorry I couldn't make it down, guys -- congratulations! Everyone looks so great.

nabiscothingy, Monday, 3 April 2006 03:55 (nineteen years ago)

nabisco they played your song 'dibs on the wallflower' on the dancefloor at the wedding reception! and your song is on the wedding mix-CD that all the guests got! it was the most ILX wedding ever.

Jimmy Mod: My theme is DEATH (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Monday, 3 April 2006 04:01 (nineteen years ago)

Nabisco, I think your song was the first one played on the dance floor. It was the first one I heard anyway.

You're not on my wedding CD though. The CD is so cute and romantic.

Mary (Mary), Monday, 3 April 2006 04:02 (nineteen years ago)

Actually, Geeta, surely the caption to that one would be Sparks's song "I Married Myself."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 April 2006 04:11 (nineteen years ago)

Meanwhile, I did check back on that old FAP thread and found this:

Also, I would marry Millar, seriously. He's got no soul, it's fucking incredible.

Also, I would marry Millar, seriously. He's got no soul, it's fucking incredible.

It's completely true. From that night:

Aren't those their full names up there, in Mädchen's screenshot?

I'm sure everyone who knows them personally knows their names, but most of us probably didn't and this _is_ still a public board - Mädchen, could you edit that pic and re-upload it, just in case?

StanM (StanM), Monday, 3 April 2006 11:42 (nineteen years ago)

yay! ilX0r wedding makes me most most happy.

I can't believe bride and groom and veil ended up in bar afterwards. Wait, yes I can. . . ;)

Miss Misery xox (MissMiseryTX), Monday, 3 April 2006 11:58 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not sure which is more unsettling : that people from this website are getting married or that the majority of the people at the wedding ceremony are from this website.

Truly frightening to the casual observer.

Tom Assantino, Monday, 3 April 2006 12:04 (nineteen years ago)

I can't believe bride and groom and veil ended up in bar afterwards. Wait, yes I can. . . ;)

I was about to say, this surely goes without saying. ;-)

"Tom A" -- people meet, fall in love and get married, y'know? And have friends in certain social contexts? Sorry if that's hard to understand. On at least one of my old mailing lists a couple got married because they met each other through it -- like Andrew, the news of that tripped me out, but I was also as pleased as punch, and still am.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 April 2006 12:08 (nineteen years ago)

latebloomer: a power and finesse vocalist (latebloomer), Monday, 3 April 2006 12:10 (nineteen years ago)

Oops yes, I uploaded that in a hurry before lunch - low blood sugar is the ruin of good sense.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 3 April 2006 12:12 (nineteen years ago)

I'm sure everyone who knows them personally knows their names, but most of us probably didn't and this _is_ still a public board

Well I, for instance, don't know them at all, I've just hung around here since late 2001 or something, and I've picked up their surnames without even trying to (as my congrat post may indicate), so I'm not sure there's all that much to hide really. (Also, text in images not googlable, obv.)

Still, in general I think Stan's point is sound, and maybe it should be done just to be sure?

The Vintner's Lipogram (OleM), Monday, 3 April 2006 12:14 (nineteen years ago)

A bride with booze in one hand and cigarette in the other is sooo classic. But you look so pretty in the top one, too, Ally.

Congratulations you two, maybe I will come visit you this year and hand deliver your presents.

Thanks for editing the pic, Mädchen.

OleM - I know their names are probably on this board somwewhere, but it's up to them to reveal them, I feel. This just didn't feel right.

Anyway: on with the congo ratto rations!

StanM (StanM), Monday, 3 April 2006 12:17 (nineteen years ago)

He has that sparkle in his eye.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 April 2006 13:03 (nineteen years ago)

WHERE DO I START?? A+T, with a little luck and a loud enough alarum (and about seven bottles of tylenol), you've had your feet up on a balcony rail and a drink in hand for a good 12 hours now. Thank you so much for extending your day to your crazy, drunken friends. I refrained from dumping multiple glasses of wine on a certain relative (mostly because she was wearing red, anyway) and it's probably for the best. A little anticlimactic, but for the best. LOVE.

I wd also like to pipe up that not only is Perry very handsome and NOT A GAY NINJA, he may also have snagged the coolest southern belle ever to mince across a patio in red stilettos. And if I stopped smoking I would clearly have to take knitting with me EVERYWHERE because whatever would I do with my hands??

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 3 April 2006 13:14 (nineteen years ago)

:) :) :)

Joei loved meeting everyone! (As did I!) Much fun was had.

Congratulations! I hope all the hassle was worth it, the photos certainly give that impression, more photos please!

Congratulations, Ally + Tom! I'm happy to see the lustful energy that was evident almost three years ago has been redeemed in the eyes of the Lord.

For the record, there are MANY more pictures on my end, but neither the bride nor groom have seen them yet *cough*, and the obv. get first viewing. I'll have the website link as soon as they give the go-a-head.

(Geeta, thanks for getting the pix up. And those shots of you + veil are fairly gorgeous, not that you need anyone to tell you that.)

When are Ally & her sisters going to form a look-alike crime-fighting team?? It's only a matter of time, and could any Y chromosome withstand them? I think not.

you know you're at an ILX wedding when...

the dj plays "i feel love" and your dancing partner growls "this better be the patrick cowley megamix!"

i don't know how i can add anything to anyone's accounts here. i was just very pleased at everything. dan, you and and joei effortlessly exceeded my high expectations. i'm thrilled i finally got to meet the two of you. it was just a pleasure to be around everybody at such a generous occasion.

Also, I like your top Mary (or is it a dress?)

another classic moment at the wedding reception: i got seated at a table with mostly DC locals--i didn't recognize most of the people at my table. so i tried to start up a conversation.

me: 'so, how do you all know each other?'

they all look embarassed and look at each other. 'well, there's thing called ILX, it's like, an online messageboard...'

me: (cracks up laughing)

Yeah, SRSLY. Does being friends w/ Tom require an ILX training/posting regimen? Because everyone I met knew about us already.

Also, as we touched on last night, it was a delight to travel in the NY caravan: everyone was pleasant & interesting & I'd move to Baltimore with all of you next weekend if I didn't have a bunch of stuff to do on Saturday. Thank you all (and our B-more hostess, obviously).

Thanks Rose. It's actually kind of a fake wrap-dress, but you can't tell that from the pic. Ally and Tom should get married every weekend.

Fantastic photos! And your sisters look almost as great as you! (And the two in one photo could only be members of your family, what with the Harley Quinn smiles.)

Ally looks so calm and cool (and hot). I still feel sick with nerves when I think about my wedding day and it was well over a year ago.

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 12:05 (nineteen years ago)

Good shoes! And that last photo is awwwwwwwwww.

I wasn't nervous on my wedding day so much as drunk.

the wedding was at an international school - the other rooms look like they were designed specifically to smoke cigars and drink cognac in.

Jimmy Mod: My theme is DEATH (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

Please don't take this as a comment on the other pics, because it isn't, but that Jimmy Mod photo is amazing. Well done, sir.

StanM (StanM), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 17:47 (nineteen years ago)

Ha ha that Converse sneaker was one of the groomsmen's? I thought that the WIS left it there for authenticity. I wonder if there were any important documents in that office through which we passed to go to the ladie's bathroom. Maybe I could have gotten my hands on some admissions bribes.

Ally's twin sisters are the cutest. I didn't get to talk to "Hooters" sister. Ally, I keep having to readjust myself to your without glasses look. It makes you look softer sort of--until you hold cigarette and beer props. Enjoy SF. I didn't realize weddings could be so fun--I don't know why I have been avoiding them for all these years. Perhaps the family Catholic weddings were not the proper introduction.

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 17:50 (nineteen years ago)

Please don't take this as a comment on the other pics, because it isn't, but that Jimmy Mod photo is amazing. Well done, sir.

Yes, it makes me wish I had him as a wedding photographer. Not that my pictures were bad per se, but these look better.

Jimmy Mod Discusses Allybot's sisters for the benefit of ILX and its long-curious readership:

(names left blank for googleproofing)

The one with the shorter hair (twin #1) looks more like Tina Fey than Allybot ever did.

The one with the glasses (twin #2) has some sort of Ally Sheedy-ness Breakfast Clubbian thing going on.

They are both very different -- Twin #2 seemed to hide from the camera the whole time whereas Twin #1 sort of ignored me (which is good). I could not tell you which one was the evil/crazy twin so we shall have to assume both are out of their skulls.

Hooters sister is what you would expect (hott with two "t's") but seemingly verrrrrry canny and a well gathered maid of honor. She is also verrrrrry spoken for, gentlemen.

I have no information with regards to purchase prices, but understand that the price range is set between that of TOMBOT'S net worth and that of the price of a house in Arizona. Plan acccordingly. Their father has guns and is a BIG DUDE.

Jimmy Mod: My theme is DEATH (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

Hahaha yeah, Dad would very affably pull your head off of its body then cheerfully pump buckshot down the bleeding stump.

Dan (Happy Killing Machine) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:06 (nineteen years ago)

He's totally big, yes. On the other hand, he seemed pretty happy about washing his hands of responsibility for at least one of his mercurial offspring, so that might work in yr favor.

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:08 (nineteen years ago)

OH MERCURIAL SNAP!

pssst - badass revolutionary art! (plsmith), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:13 (nineteen years ago)

(Hahah, not so much of a snap -- I can't find the thread but that was Ally's own choice of words. And it was also being applied to me.)

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:18 (nineteen years ago)

One of the twins is evil? I thought they were both sweet, but if I had to make guesses I would say the one without the glasses? I thought that only one was into Japan, so I was like which one of you are into Japanese, and the one with glasses was like, we both are.

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:21 (nineteen years ago)

There is always one evil twin...

Jimmy Mod: My theme is DEATH (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:23 (nineteen years ago)

and the one with glasses was like, we both are.

It would've been cooler if they'd said it in unison.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

but seemingly verrrrrry canny and a well gathered maid of honor

i have no idea what this means but feel jtm is insinuating something of import

x-post: yea, i realized after i wrote that perhpas you were speaking metaphorically. anyway i still stand by my assertion that tina-fey twin is the evil one

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

I am Chinas not Japans

Jimmy Mod: My theme is DEATH (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:29 (nineteen years ago)

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

Tom's mulitingual ex-officer friend likes the China, JTM.

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, I noticed that, too.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 21:21 (nineteen years ago)

Seriously I know more ppl brought cameras!
I don't have time to give you guys the tracklistings for each, but to answer Mary's Q way upthread, yes, we gave out two different CDs, I think they were about 30% the same and the rest was cobbled together to suit people's imagined taste. I didn't really have much to do with that part besides saying that everyone should get the Chan/Difranco "Unforgettable" cover, I think.

Dudes seriously though we hit the jackpot, the catering, the weather, the preacherman, I mean even the DJ was good. A wedding DJ!! Good!! Admittedly we gave him excellent directions and material to work with, but still, dropping "Closet Romantic" during dinner = genius. That all being said we should have expected to deal with heavy jetlag/exhaustion and nasty drizzle on honeymoon.

I'll thank again everybody who made time to come down to see us. 2nd biggest FAP since J4. And to everyone else, there were plenty of family and non-internet friends in attendance, Geeta just likes to take lots of pictures of other Ivy Leaguers, see.

Being married is awesome! Bye bye.

I blame Rich's magic camera, which mostly hid the fact that it was tremendously windy leading up to/during the ceremony, destroying all vestige of hairdos ppl had.
