Is that a shot from the "Touch It" video?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 26 May 2006 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

What are those things at the sides of the chair? Looks like they're sharing a pair of comedy ears.

I just thought of a crap pun thing: Sezer's a lad.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 26 May 2006 23:22 (nineteen years ago)

from the other thread:

On BBLB, Dermot just called Bonner Bonner! One of us! ("make Bonner a goner" he said)

did nobody see the "BONNER where's your HOODER" banner? mrs "lurking" fiendish said: "i bet that's mark grout holding that."

is "bonner" being used elsewhere: DS, for instance? heat had "bonneh", which actually isn't as good.

anyway. so long, bonner jokes.

absolute highlight of that episode - and i can't believe nobody else has commented - was glyn coming out of the diary room (bonner: "we've got alcoool!") with his boxes, falling over, flailing wildly and then careering straight into the camera. laugh? i thought i'd never stop rewinding it.

mrs fiendish and i have agreed that lisa should, by rights, be the sexiest girl in there. sadly, instead of having the face of a beautiful oriental girl, she has the face of a very old chinese man, especially when she smokes. she still fucking rocks bells, though.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 26 May 2006 23:45 (nineteen years ago)

"sezer's a lad" is superb, although i had to think about it for a moment. ach. it's been a long few weeks. still. week off. i don't care any more. bring on the BEER.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 26 May 2006 23:46 (nineteen years ago)

I still think "Big Brother (UK 2006)- You're a rapist and the son of a drug dealer" would have been a better title.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 26 May 2006 23:52 (nineteen years ago)

"oh shut up, oh shut up, oh shut up, oh shut up, oh shut up, oh shut up, oh shut up"

fucking also fucking lisa is fucking horrible.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 26 May 2006 23:56 (nineteen years ago)

haha @ dom.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 26 May 2006 23:59 (nineteen years ago)

To reiterate and improve upon a point I made on the defunct thread: on the evidence of the interview Bonner is fine and quite normal. She kept her mouth the shut in the house because that's what any sane fucking person would do.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:02 (nineteen years ago)

that's a (refreshingly) generous assesment, chap. i thought she was just a bit dull/thick?

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:05 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I don't think she's a genius. She's just not a loon.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:08 (nineteen years ago)

i did feel quite sad for her. it's a shame that it's always a woman that goes first.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:15 (nineteen years ago)

I repected her 'bollocks to em' attitude, as well, which came across as quite genuine.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:18 (nineteen years ago)

I thought she just seemed bitter and dour.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:23 (nineteen years ago)

i think dour is exactly the right word.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:24 (nineteen years ago)

her fingers, on exit, were overwhelmingly pathetic

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:26 (nineteen years ago)

yes as were here pre-exit ramblings; "if we all met IN REAL LIFE we wouldn't get along, so why here"

"I am real and you are all pretending" is the last refuge of the horrid personality exposed by reality TV.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:28 (nineteen years ago)

You are all too harsh on Bonner. I'm going to hide your food.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Saturday, 27 May 2006 00:35 (nineteen years ago)

Great thread title! Yep.

mark grout (mark grout), Saturday, 27 May 2006 07:30 (nineteen years ago)

I dreamt that Nikki got evicted and got a presenter's job on Playboy TV.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 27 May 2006 08:12 (nineteen years ago)

That was no dream.

Nikki: "I just KNOW if Pete met a girl who he really loved, his Tourettes would just GO. I know it would. It's all in his mind"

David Orton (scarlet), Saturday, 27 May 2006 08:24 (nineteen years ago)

I still think "Big Brother (UK 2006)- You're a rapist and the son of a drug dealer" would have been a better title.
-- Dom Passantino (juror...), May 27th, 2006.

this has to be used.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Saturday, 27 May 2006 08:40 (nineteen years ago)

I laughed at Sezer's reasons for liking Jeanette Winterson. "She's a LESBIAN writer. It's just funny the things women say about other women". And then Grace: "Do you like Germaine Greer then? She's a full on FEMINIST isn't she?"

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 27 May 2006 09:35 (nineteen years ago)

Sezer is just basically Family Guy's very own Quagmire, no?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 27 May 2006 09:41 (nineteen years ago)

Last night was the first proper episode I've seen. Imogen comes across as very thick and always pouting. Lisa comes across as very loud and always gurning. Grace and George just awful.

I felt very sorry for Lea when she was crying in the diary room. I didn't like David Orton calling her a filthy cow, on the other thread. I hope people aren't too horrible about her or to her when she comes out. she is very attention seeking, but seems essentially nice and mothering. I didn't like Davina saying "Lea is a dichotomy", which seems fairly dubious usage anyway, and then immediately explaining it to Bonner.

I still like Pete, but I really hope he doesn't get coupled off with Lisa, or anyone.

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 27 May 2006 09:48 (nineteen years ago)

Next eviction:

Lea 5/2
Richard 11/2
Lisa 13/2
Nikki 13/2
Grace 7/1
Sezer 8/1
Glyn 9/1

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 27 May 2006 10:01 (nineteen years ago)

The BB contestants know some AUTHORS? Other than JK Rowling and Dan Brown??

JTS (JTS), Saturday, 27 May 2006 10:02 (nineteen years ago)

I dreamt that Nikki got evicted and got a presenter's job on Playboy TV.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Saturday, 27 May 2006 10:24 (nineteen years ago)

I never watched last night, am just watching the repeat on Channel 4 just now. It was roffletastic, a throwback to the simpler days of a pissed Kate Lawler failing spectacularly to put her trousers on and remain standing.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 27 May 2006 10:34 (nineteen years ago)

I'd forgotten completely about:

"I need to have money. I wasn't supposed to be poor. I was born to have money. I mean, I'm only middle class, I'm supposed to be rich."

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Saturday, 27 May 2006 10:40 (nineteen years ago)

The BB contestants know some AUTHORS? Other than JK Rowling and Dan Brown??

I don't think they read. Most of the "Favourite Book" sections on the Ch4 site have been left blank this year.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Saturday, 27 May 2006 10:42 (nineteen years ago)

When Sezer mentioned reading Grace was the only one that didn't immediately disengage.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Saturday, 27 May 2006 10:44 (nineteen years ago)

Grace is a little minx, isn't she? I guess that's what happens when everyone pairs off within about ten seconds of setting foot in the house, rash decisions come back to haunt you. Still, get one bit of common sense, folks, you are trapped in a wee house with these people for up to three months, what's the hurry?!?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 27 May 2006 10:50 (nineteen years ago)

yeh, i was pretty unimpressed with grace. "o, i'm going to cool it." slurp slurp slurp. "o noes, other people have come in the room. now i'm going to throw a minor strop."

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 27 May 2006 10:51 (nineteen years ago)

I do feel Bonnie would have done OK in any other year. She's nothing horrible or awful at all, she's just a very ordinary person. I'm not entire sure how she slipped through the "pick the wackos and tarts" selection net.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 27 May 2006 11:00 (nineteen years ago)

"chill it out"

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 27 May 2006 11:01 (nineteen years ago)

People really will boo anything, won't they (a phenomenom I noticed in last CBB when people booed the utterly unoffensive Rula Lenska).

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 27 May 2006 11:02 (nineteen years ago)

(oh, OK, she looked suitably wacky and annoying and tartish in her video)

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 27 May 2006 11:10 (nineteen years ago)

Haha, her best bits, soundtracked with the lyrics "why don't you do something". hahaha.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 27 May 2006 11:18 (nineteen years ago)

I assumed Rula was booed for the George Galloway connection.

I sort of hate myself for how much I want Lisa and Pete to get together, preferably after about two months of 'will they won't they'.

On the other hand, I feel no guilt whatsoever about wanting the whole Grace-Mikey-George-Nikki thing to blow up horribly in everyone's faces and lead to a poisonous atmosphere of sexual jealousy that makes everyone concerned miserable.

I would like to join the rest of the house, and the rest of the Great British Public, in taking a patronising attitude towards Glyn. The boy is a hero, he must stay.

"I am real and you are all pretending" is the last refuge of the horrid personality exposed by reality TV.

OTM OTM OTM.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 27 May 2006 11:37 (nineteen years ago)

I loved that Pete had to hold a silver cushion in front of his mouth.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 27 May 2006 12:51 (nineteen years ago)

xpost and is in the running for next thread title.

re: Dichotomy. to be fair, Davina was explaining it for viewers, in the guise of a conversation w./Bonnie.

Bonnie looked a lot like Shirley Manson in her pre-vid. Yeah, ordinary person. The media career will not happen. But at least she won't get attacked in the street.

mark grout (mark grout), Saturday, 27 May 2006 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

But Lea is a dirty cow! Yes, she is also "mothering" - too much so at times, smothering George when he was just trying to get some peace and quiet.

Nikki in a jealous flap all last night over Goerge sharing a bubble bath with Grace - give it up, Nikki, he's just not that into you!

Glyn eats with his mouth open - HE MUST GO.

David Orton (scarlet), Saturday, 27 May 2006 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

re: Dichotomy. to be fair, Davina was explaining it for viewers, in the guise of a conversation w./Bonnie

That's even worse! And perhaps it is okay to say a person is a dichotomy, but it's still an odd usage.

I don't like David Orton calling Lea a dirty cow, again. It's very unpleasant.

Cathy (Cathy), Saturday, 27 May 2006 14:42 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think a person can be a dichotomy. They can have a dichotomy in their personality.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Saturday, 27 May 2006 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

The person can be the embodiment of a dichotomy, but Davina McCall would be hard pressed to correctly delineate the distinction. ISTR she couldn't even pronounce the word fully, or properly.

suzy (suzy), Saturday, 27 May 2006 15:17 (nineteen years ago)

"There are two sides to Lea" would have sufficed. She was just trying to look clever.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Saturday, 27 May 2006 15:20 (nineteen years ago)

(as usual)

suzy (suzy), Saturday, 27 May 2006 15:22 (nineteen years ago)

Does anyone else do a double take when they see that picture at the top of the thread, thinking it's Victor? I think it's the pose and the hat more than anything.

Mädchen (Madchen), Saturday, 27 May 2006 15:51 (nineteen years ago)

they all look the same, madchen.

Gukbe (lokar), Saturday, 27 May 2006 15:56 (nineteen years ago)

only joking, of course. i miss victor. does he still write that gossip column?

"Since leaving the house, Victor has appeared on Celebrity Poker Club"

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 27 May 2006 16:09 (nineteen years ago)

Shame to see Bonner go - the East Midlands family of accents is sorely underrepresented in popular culture (see Bob Hoskins struggling in A Room For Romeo Brass). When Bonner said, "D'ya get meh?" in her audition tape, the nation responded as one, "I don't think y'do."

(Koogs, I don't remember the Luffbrah accent being so pronounced either, but that just reflects how little contact we had with the locals).

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Saturday, 27 May 2006 16:18 (nineteen years ago)

i'm still boggling at the accent. it's almost like she only has one vowel sound; a kind of elongated schwa. she ended a sentence with the word "be" the other night, and it really was "buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh".

i do feel a bit sorry for her, though: the second she got her own clothes, she did start to become more interesting and animated. i think she might actually have been good value. but not as good as glyn.

dawn, btw: was it just me that thought she acted like a total, total knob with all that "shut up" petulance and strop-throwing? i can't say i really understand that little episode; at least, i can't sympathise. she just suddenly seemed to turn into a dick.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 27 May 2006 16:26 (nineteen years ago)

I think being shut up for a week with that lot would turn me into a dick.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Saturday, 27 May 2006 16:37 (nineteen years ago)

yes, but she was doing such a good job of being the sensible/motherly one. and then just lost it in a fit of petulance.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 27 May 2006 16:40 (nineteen years ago)

yeah i liked her but also she's the one who may have had an interesting trajectory in the house.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 27 May 2006 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

Everyone's going to run out of patience with Nikki really soon. She's essentially a slower-burning version of Shabaz.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Saturday, 27 May 2006 20:02 (nineteen years ago)

I wince every time she appears on screen now. For a pretty girl, she wanders about with her face screwed up in a very unattractive fashion most of the time.

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 27 May 2006 20:07 (nineteen years ago)

And how stupid is Imogen? That was the calculated, disingenuous speech I've ever heard from Sezer.

This year's Big Brother =an appalling advert for women. And men, for that matter.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Saturday, 27 May 2006 20:12 (nineteen years ago)

The "I feel all cooped" up episode was extraordinary. She has serious issues with attention and being provided for in every possible way. Funny how George created a solid demarcation down the middle of the bed when she got in with him!

Cracks (Crackity), Saturday, 27 May 2006 20:13 (nineteen years ago)

Shahbaz openly weeping in the Diary Room (Diary Room Uncut a few moments ago) has to have been one of the funniest things on TV I've seen in at least a month!

Lara (Lara), Saturday, 27 May 2006 20:24 (nineteen years ago)

pete sometimes comes across like jack sparrow inside a young willem dafoe

it's like some continental big brother this year, with lots of coupling

RJG (? or cook?) wondered if it had been maybe engineered that way, with potential 'couples' put into the house

potential couple: lea & glyn

sorry, lea Vs. glyn

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 28 May 2006 10:06 (nineteen years ago)

big brother can bring out the worst in people though, huh?

both in the contestants and the audience

still love it, mind

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 28 May 2006 10:09 (nineteen years ago)

think george said "a top spec bitch" rather than "the top spec bitch" not that it makes much of a difference

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 28 May 2006 10:12 (nineteen years ago)

I hope it was THE

was just thinking that, if george did steal grace away from mikey (grace and mikey were in bed, last night, and grace was telling mikey what his mum did and that he took his shoes off when he went to her house and that his car is black and stuff like that, though), it would be even funnier because it was mikey who, effectively, saved george by electing him to the big brotherhood

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 28 May 2006 10:24 (nineteen years ago)

George wouldn't have gone though, he hath the "testicles of staying in for the first three weeks".

Pete (Pete), Sunday, 28 May 2006 10:30 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, I just mean that electing him was a symbol and a gesture, of friendship, from mikey, to george, and stealing his girl would be a symbol and a gesture, of don't-care-about-friendship, from george, to mikey

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 28 May 2006 10:34 (nineteen years ago)

Grace needs to stay in the house for a very long time. The longer she's in there, the longer the Great British Voting Public will have to get a good level of hatred worked up. I'm predicting Makosi levels of booing when she actually leaves.

Not that she's going to be up for eviction for a while anyway. The house is still too chummy and I've no idea who's going to nominate who. Nikki vs Lea to be the first proper nominees, maybe?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 28 May 2006 11:52 (nineteen years ago)

What about Lea and Pete, lads? Think that one could be a-brewing. Also, I think Nikki's going to end up snogging Glyn (purely out of drunken boredom some night) and she'll lament it loudly for weeks afterwards.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 12:19 (nineteen years ago)

"for weeks afterwards"

alas. i think she may be out on friday :(

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 28 May 2006 12:21 (nineteen years ago)

I'm banking on another game-related nominations twist!

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 12:37 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, Endemol protect the show in the early weeks these days. Who's the most dispensable member of the household right now, anyway? It could actually be Richard now the other gayer has gone.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 28 May 2006 12:56 (nineteen years ago)

New 'gayer' to arrive on Monday night - perhaps for a spot of laydee love?

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 13:04 (nineteen years ago)

E4 Now!!!! (Shahbaz weeeping again - classique!)

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 13:05 (nineteen years ago)

Imogen is an awful housemate. Has yet to say anything interesting and is clearly a dimwit by falling for the charms of Sezer. Jed, you hate Mikey and George for their 'top spec bitch' chat but do you still like Sezer even after his (aborted) attempt to give a thumbs up to the camera when he was in bed with Imogen a few days ago? The guy is FAR worse than Mikey and George because he's much more calculating and cruel - he's the kind of guy who'd post dodgy pictures of an ex-fling all over the internet, purely out of spite (cf: today's NOTW) - George and Mikey are too easy-going/dim to do anything like that.

Still, I do think George is vile. Pampered brat who expects everything to be delivered on a plate - same as Nikki but at least she makes for hilarious TV, it'll be a massive shame if she gets booted out next week. I don't mind Mikey. He's bland, an average dickish lad but set against scum like Sezer he *shines*.

Fuck Dawn. I'm glad she's gone. That 'oh shut up'x37 scene in the Diary Room showed her to be a total dick, along with that bullshit video diary ('hyuck hyuck, i really got one over on the producers with my nasty video, really socked it to em'). Plus, the 'give me some attention because I AM THREATENING TO LEAVE' is the OLDest shittiest trick in the BBbook. Anyway, Lea is a much more entertaining mother figure.

Glyn is great. A village idiot. He needs to stay til the end, a perfect 'look how much this has transformed me' fairytale story. His *thing* for Lea is absolutely lovely.

Shahbaz's voice was so odd. He reminded me of some cartoon character - esp that creepy scene with him in the bathroom staring dead at the camera threatening "You've really done it now Big Brother, I'm not happy. You've not kept your side of the deal.." Who is it who sounds like him, I keep thinking Supergran or someone off the Nessies.

Going off Lisa a bit. I've never liked the gobby "I say whats in me fuckin head me and I don't givvafuck" Manc type but I do hope she gets together with Pete and nicens up.

They need to throw in a new alpha male who'll completely fuck with Sezer, and most importantly someone who's TALLER than him (he's a screaming example of the little-man syndrome) - Mikey could have filled this role but he clearly doesn't have the balls. We also need a beautiful combative alpha female to come in and mother Nikki and unnerve Grace and Imogen. Otherwise Sezer's prophecy about The Couple Kids taking over will come sadly horribly true. We really do not need another gay guy, Richard is too likeable/dull to make anything exciting out of it.

Oh and like someone said above, Pete talking to the fly was one of the loveliest things I've seen all year.

Affectian (Affectian), Sunday, 28 May 2006 13:48 (nineteen years ago)

I agree that the entrance of a jaw-droppingly handsome man would be just perfect. Especially someone that Imogen might be drawn to. I'd like to see those "arse I've settled too quickly" looks of jealousy on their faces when Nikki has him all to herself.

Also, are we forgetting that Richard is and evil, bully? Never forget the fact that he prompted the group to gang up on (an admittedly demented) Shahbaz in a vile Lord of The Rings manner. He'll need to be challenged in order for us to catch glimpses of his nasty side again.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 14:01 (nineteen years ago)

Who is it who sounds like him, I keep thinking Supergran or someone off the Nessies.

I think it may be Margaret Meldrew (Annette Crosbie) from One Foot In The Grave.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Sunday, 28 May 2006 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

Visually he reminded me of Larry Grayson. And come to think if it, Imogen looks a little bit like Isla St Clair...

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 14:19 (nineteen years ago)

God, Bonnie's family and friends are pretty crass, aren't they? Seeing people like that make me sad. And I always reckon they smell of chip fat.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 14:22 (nineteen years ago)

: (

yes, I am not forgiving richard for being bad and a bully and, yes, want someone handsome & personalitiful in, to make imogen regret her fling w/ goofy wee sezer, grace regret her flings w/ boring mikey & boring george and nikki something else

I do like pete and his playing up for the underwater camera (amongst other stuff) was v v funny but he can also be annoying in a complicated way that doesn't let me just plainly dislike him which is a problem

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 28 May 2006 15:24 (nineteen years ago)

Affectian, you're right. Sezer is absolutel vile. i was unfairly prejudiced by finding him nice to look at initially but now i can barely look at him nor listen to his horrible monotone voice and hideous flat laugh.

he was decent for a couple of days last week though (even charlie brooker admitted this in his evisceration of him in The Guardian).

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 28 May 2006 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

I think he's extremely accomplished at doing a nice guy act - City Boy all over.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Sunday, 28 May 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

Some would suggest that he's a nice guy to girls until he can get unguarded access to their drink while they're not looking. Not me, however.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 28 May 2006 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

Charlie Brooker's character descriptions (written before evictions/ejections/walkouts)for anyone who didn't get Saturday's Guardian:

Shahbaz - a children's party entertainer created in a madman's laboratory, set loose on the world minus an "off" switch. An episode of Crackerjack with an erection down its shorts, running, sobbing and shrieking, right in your direction.

Sezer: yuk. A pint-sized, pixel-eyed, monotone, priapic, hair-gelled rodent, so in love with himself he probably masturbates to videos of himself masturbating.

Mikey - sexist Vernon Kay/Owen Wilson cross-splice whose punchably dumb face probably adorns the banknotes in Thickland.

George - near-silent posho with the head of an Easter Island statue and a severe case of Portillo lips

Nikki - spoiled chimpette who throws tantrums like Geoff Capes throws fenceposts.

Grace - skinny dance instructor apparently played by Peaches Geldof.

Lea - planet-boobed sometime pornstar who's surgically enhanced her way out of the human race altogether - she now resembles Samantha Janus as described by a lunatic.

Dawn - an "exercise scientist" who believes in chakras - so not a scientist at all then.

Imogen - cute but flavourless; a passable human vacuum in a thong.

Richard - catty Right Said Fred diplomat clearly doomed to spend the rest of his natural life lifting heavy objects on daytime DIY makeover shows.

Lisa - Lucy Liu channelling the spirit of Bez.

Pete - the Tourette's sufferer whose frequent uncontrollable spasms turn him into a cross between Rik from the Young Ones, Keyop from Battle of the Planets, a Tex Avery cartoon wolf, and Klunk, the chirruping inventor from Dastardly And Muttley In Their Flying Machines.

Apparently, there are two others, called Bonnie and Glyn. But I don't think they've been on camera yet.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 18:46 (nineteen years ago)

the sezer, imogen and pete descriptions there are touched by genius. but lisa does not look like lucy liu. not even in pete's dreams.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 28 May 2006 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

He was rather uncharacteristically kind about Lisa, I think. I really liked the Grace/Peaches Geldof connection, which I hadn't already clocked.

mrs fiendish and i have agreed that lisa should, by rights, be the sexiest girl in there. sadly, instead of having the face of a beautiful oriental girl, she has the face of a very old chinese man, especially when she smokes.

not feeling this

Glyn singing T.Rex.

Lisa doesn't really do much these days, does she?

Sunday 28 May
Day 11, 20:40
Things boiled over at dinner this evening when Grace gave Nikki a verbal battering for criticising her lovingly prepared salmon.
THE BEGINNING OF THE VERY PUBLIC END:

Day 11 20:40

Nikki has been moping around all day, and she carried her glum mood to dinner, picking at her food and saying the salmon was "a bit dry".

It prompted Grace, who'd cooked the meal with Richard, to mumble a few obscenities about Nikki to the other housemates, just loud enough for the blonde to hear.

"I'm sorry Grace but I'm upset. I didn't realise the salmon meant that much to you," retorted the melancholy Middlesex lass. But she only succeeded in sparking Grace into a vicious tirade.

"Stop moaning, you're like a child," barked the dance teacher. "You're 24, I'm 20. And I cook and clean. It's not a hotel. It wouldn't be so bad if you washed a dish once in a while."

Nikki's bottom lip was already starting to wobble when Richard piled in, saying: "I agree with Grace. It's no good moping about the food, we're all in the same boat."

Nikki tried to explain she was "upset" about other things (she's missing her family, apparently) but the room started closing in around her, with Sezer sticking his oar in too.

"We're all in it together. You eat what you're given. It's not as if we're living off crisps," said the Londoner indignantly.

Richard then rather patronisingly advised Nikki to "have a lie-down" and the blonde exclaimed: "Fine, I will be by myself." She stormed out of the kitchen in tears and she's been crying (or on the verge of it) ever since.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 20:35 (nineteen years ago)

And now we have DRAMA~!

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 28 May 2006 20:38 (nineteen years ago)

Ooh, looking forward to this tomorrow!

Salient points of tonight's highlights show anyone? I was watching World Cup Stories.

Cracks (Crackity), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:09 (nineteen years ago)

Sezer thinks Lea is a big slapper. So does 11 yr old school girl.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:13 (nineteen years ago)

Also the knives are coming out for Nikki. And there will be no vegetables, toilet paper and shower gel but plenty of sweets and meat, this week.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:14 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know who was ninth in

bonnie was first and pete second

nikki last

the others came in between, I think

imogen was smart to avoid the gunk and I only sort of wish she hadn't managed to

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:17 (nineteen years ago)

I wondered how they'd manage to clean up all the gunk, what with them all being so lazy.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

glyn's "can you make me something secret to eat in here like a sunday roast?" in the diary room was v funny

funny how the welsh can sound sort of dutch or norwegian or something

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:20 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not sure whether it's the accent and the long-dram-out vowels or not but he seems so dim. I liked the fact that he wanted something 'normal' like pasta or crisps to cure his wind problem. I think if BB wanted to spoil one of them, it would be Glyn. Go one! Feed him secret 'normal' food!

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:24 (nineteen years ago)

haha, yeah, the wind

he tried running round the garden and hot water

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:28 (nineteen years ago)

He seemed so confused by the mal-function of his own body. Almost as though he's found himself in it for the first time.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:31 (nineteen years ago)

it's pathetic that an 18 year old has to ask someone to make him something to eat.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:34 (nineteen years ago)

Well, I think it was as much 'give me something to eat' as 'make me something to eat'. I'm not sure Glyn's mature enough to use even a toaster unsupervised.

Lara (Lara), Sunday, 28 May 2006 21:37 (nineteen years ago)

In other developments, drama continues in the house as they form factions after Salmongate. Nikki went in search of some shoulders to bawl on after her dressing down from Grace... and George was the first to offer his manly arms. After the row, Nikki trudged into the garden to do some loud crying. George alone took pity on her, giving her a big hug and taking her into the bathroom...

dave q (listerine), Monday, 29 May 2006 06:53 (nineteen years ago)

Grace is a VERY typical West London private girls' school graduate and has probably forgotten more than Nikki will ever know about spoilt, bitchy girls competing with each other for attention. She is less "hungry" than Nikki and both of them know it.

Nikki has just spent a lot of time shit-stirring about how Grace has everything and all of it is better than what she has, and then proceeds to complain that Grace is looking down on her for snobbish reasons. She then went to every other housemate she could find and escalated Grace's comments - and gave each HM a customised version of events with a little class envy thrown in. Which is silly because Grace spends all her time with the sweary Northerners.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 29 May 2006 07:34 (nineteen years ago)

Which is silly because Grace spends all her time with the sweary Northerners.

George, Sezer, Imogen and Mikey?

Funny that Nikki went into the house complaining about "peasants" and how much she admires wealth.
She is brilliant though. Her reaction when the oil in the wok she was supposed to be watching started smoking: "Oh my god there's going to be a fire!" *runs outside to let the BB house burn down*
She really must not be evicted next Friday. She is TV gold.

David Orton (scarlet), Monday, 29 May 2006 09:25 (nineteen years ago)

Glyn asking for a Sunday Roast in that weirdo accent of his, what a crazy person he is!

Also Charlie Brooker is a hack, why negative blurbs on every housemate? Oh yeah because otherwise BB wouldn't be SYMPTOMATIC OF THE SLOW DECAYING CULTURE DEATH WE LIVE THROUGH. Get a new schtick.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 29 May 2006 09:54 (nineteen years ago)

HELLFIRE AND BRIMSTONE, IT'S LISA

bloody hell

lisa should, by rights, not be so bonkers

what was all this about? what did i miss?

lisa is the only one who particularly interests me. she is alarmingly unhinged.

re: glyn. i think the fact he comes across as a bit dim is because - IIRC they said something about this on the first night - english is his second language and he thinks in welsh. so not only is he an 18-year-old kid trying to come to terms with being in the house etc; he's an 18-year-old kid who's having to kinda translate everything before he speaks.

his kitchen cluelessness is pretty piss-poor, mind.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 29 May 2006 10:18 (nineteen years ago)

The more I see Glyn, the more I think that with some favourable circumstances and the opportunity to build up some interesting relationships with other housemates, he could be an outside shot for winner. Someone or something will need to take Pete down first though.

A table full of cute girls shouted "Shahbaz!" at me in the pub last night. My head still hurts from where I bashed it against the table in shame.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 29 May 2006 11:58 (nineteen years ago)

man that's harsh...

also from lara above:

Never forget the fact that he prompted the group to gang up on (an admittedly demented) Shahbaz in a vile Lord of The Rings manner.

did they all pretend to be hobbits or something ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 29 May 2006 12:17 (nineteen years ago)

They probably thought you were his counterpart, not his doppleganger, Matt. No hang on, that's worse.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 29 May 2006 12:30 (nineteen years ago)

To be fair, they did say I was much cuter than Shahbaz, but this was after I'd thrown a big not-entirely-serious strop. Unfortunately I'd been utilising my mad partying skillz to such an extent that I could only respond "that's okay, you look like a less attractive version of Jodie Marsh". I WIN!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 29 May 2006 13:06 (nineteen years ago)

She really must not be evicted next Friday. She is TV gold.

Absolutely. I'd hate to know someone like that in person but she makes for fantastic TV. Her diary room moments are currently trumping all others "...and well Grace did this and.. *gossip* gossip*... [shifts position - freezes]... Oh goddd there's a huuuge spider up there!"

Still waiting for Imogen to do anything other than sit back and be the token pretty princess.

BB badly needs to shake up that cosy little group of yoof couplings. Reminds me of last year with the Saskia, Maxwell, Anthony gang - nothing was sweeter than watching their bubble crumble and we need this again. Now! There are two new people (potentially) entering the house tonight so that should help shift the dynamics.

George needs to go next. The filthy fucker is constantly coughing without covering his mouth, and seems to be ripping Pete off with a few twitches of his own and some disgusting flobbery-lip gurnings. I get the impression he thinks he's safe because he's *in* with the Yoofs and serves as the token posh guy but nah, he doesn't make for good TV. And as for moaning on about his ex-gf, that is NOT what BB is there for!

Can we make a stab at who might be nominated this week? I think Nikki's a cert as she's been badmouthed by a handful of them, but I think Lea and Richard might also go for Grace (esp Lea, because Grace doesn't seem to respect her mother status). Maybe Lisa too as she can be too gobby, which gives people an easy excuse to vote for her. Nikki vs Grace is my dream ticket though - this thread has a lot of hate for Nikki but I think she's got the public on her side at the moment.

In an ideal world, dishwater-dull-Mikey would be out next, and as much as I'd love to see Sezer cast out to the wolves the guy has a lot more mileage in him (assuming BB whips up Adele-style levels of hatred for him).

Affectian (Affectian), Monday, 29 May 2006 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

Lisa, it appears, is an absolute mentalist. Strange that none of us saw that coming until a day or so ago. What other mysteries will reveal themselves?!

Lara (Lara), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:09 (nineteen years ago)

Well, that 'clear the air' chat was awkward and inconclusive.

Noticed Grace doing lots of hand-stroking of George on the live feed today as well. Anything more yet?

Cracks (Crackity), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:13 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I feel a bit sorry for Lisa.

surely we all know the Lisa on Blind date story by now

?!

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:23 (nineteen years ago)

heh. from the manchester evening news:

BIG Brother contestant Lisa Huo is no stranger to the small screen - she once went on a Blind Date trip to South Africa with a rugby player.

Lisa, 27, from Ashton, was taken on the romantic journey for the ITV show by Tony Fretwell - but the couple did not get on.

Tony, 28, who is now a rugby coach, told viewers: "I so wanted to get away from her that during our meal I went to the toilet six times for a breather."
Advertisement your story continues below

He even offered to pay for his own flight home after she ordered fish fingers in one of Cape Town's top restaurants.

poor fuckin' pete.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:24 (nineteen years ago)

apparently nikki was on blind date too.

i can't decide if having a girl who acts like a petulant eight-year-old in the house is good value or not. on the whole, i think no.

BRING ON THE NEW CONTESTANTS.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:26 (nineteen years ago)

Welsh really isn't the best accent to console someone in, huh?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

Right, OK, here's Dom's final word on Nikki (lol thikki morelike amirite copywright DigitalSpy forums):

There is mild entertainment to be had from a woman with the mental age of a six year old throwing tantrums at EVERYTHING. But, if we keep her in beyond the third or fourth week, then she gets to be a CELEBRITY on leaving the house. We're rewarding someone for being a complete twat if we do that.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:28 (nineteen years ago)

I actually remember that. It was in 2000 or 2001. All I remember was a shouty Northern-Chinese girl called Lisa who went on a 5000 word screeching tirade when doing the "trip summary" not allowing the other guy to get a word in edgeways and even prompting Cilla to yell "SHUT UP!!!!" (this bit was the part shown in all the promos of course)

JTS (JTS), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:28 (nineteen years ago)

Nikki is now shout-at-the-telly annoying.

lol at the fish fingers.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:29 (nineteen years ago)

Ok, as long as we know what we're doing, we can leave it at that and enjoy the ride :)

Yes, but I want Nikki to stay in with them. Her whining is priceless. And I want to see what other wardrobe items from Footballers' Wives appear from her suitcase. She's looking more like Tanya Turner as the days progress.

Lara (Lara), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:29 (nineteen years ago)

She has skin like Kilroy.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:31 (nineteen years ago)

I was at my Mum's when it was shown and she pretty much had the dalek effect when I was watching it. I always get really embarrassed for people on TV and here was this rugby playing git, who I should have really hated, and he was getting the full-on pity for going on a trip with this absolute menko. It seemed like her whole reasoning for going on was a) to be famous and b) to get so wankered she couldn't stand. on ITV's money. Actually, part b doesn't sound so bad.....

Porkpie (porkpie), Monday, 29 May 2006 19:32 (nineteen years ago)

Aisling, I think. Haha, prettier than Imogen!

George called Nikki a whore, and that is poor form indeed. He'll get shit for that from Mummy and Daddy (I liked how when the others were quizzing him about the royals, he just made this face like 'Earth, please swallow me now...'). Not to mention the rest of us.

Grace's legs are much nicer, seeing as they come up to Nikki's tits. Apparently these two have a history and have worked together in the perfume department of Harrods, which is why Grace is qualified to make comments about N being one of those girls in bra-tops down ChinaWhite.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 29 May 2006 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 29 May 2006 20:12 (nineteen years ago)

I think after my success with Sharon, grimly needs to bring Shahbaz here.

"Congratulations for Sezer having his cock cut off, innit."

Grace's face was like thunder at the reveal of both new housemates - completely fucks up her plan of stringing both Mikey and George along (particularly the way he was looking at Sam, and for a bloke that posh the fact he/she's got a cock need not be an issue).

Key point - the Royals love Scotland and poofters.

Lara (Lara), Monday, 29 May 2006 20:15 (nineteen years ago)

HA Dom in Crying Game...(it took 15 posts to invoke Jaye Davidson?)

I think both girls probably didn't mention their holiday work when speaking to producers, but when they first laid eyes on one another each said basically 'OMG we worked together!'

suzy (suzy), Monday, 29 May 2006 20:17 (nineteen years ago)

I thought it was to do with the dancing? Wouldn't they have mentioned the Harrods connection at this stage? Perhaps that's what they're talking about when the producers play bird sounds...

Lara (Lara), Monday, 29 May 2006 20:20 (nineteen years ago)

George seemed to recognise Sam then (running over, actually saying a few words to her rather than being his usual plankton self).

Mikey is SO going to fancy Ashlene. Which screws up Grace's Mikey&George puppet dangling. Which is a good thing. Because Grace is a nasty self-important pompous brat. As opposed to Nikki who is a silly self-important pompous brat.

I hope Sezar gets banned from nominations for this conversation, he's pretty much just told Imogen he'll vote for Richard/Sam. And that he'll "bully some conflict" out of Sam.

Imogen thinks Sam "hasn't got a single brain in her head".

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 01:42 (nineteen years ago)

A missed opportunity, there - how exciting would it have been for Glyn to open the 1st of the new housemate boxes, to reveal ... Shahbaz?

He could then have moved on to the other, which would turn out to contain - *literally* - another Nikki.

(Big Brain is on at about 11 on monday nights, but after ER rather than straight after BB. was late this week because of the extra 10 minutes that was added for the new housemates.)

> i am disappointed in nikki for the salmon fiasco because other than that she's the most intelligent housemate.

on BBBB dermot said she scored lowest in the IQ test.

I'm just going to gape at that a little while longer.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 08:33 (nineteen years ago)

I think Nikki was just damned with faint praise there.

Re Imo: you didn't see that coming? TOTAL player from day one. She and Sezer are quite happy to direct the bullying but she a) knows he's a sleaze and has said if he'd met her outside it would be a case of NOTD (whether for being Turkish or a City boy, could be one, the other or both) which marks her as a bit of a Ffion. She has been listening to Nikki and Grace hating on each other, said nowt apart from some neutral sympathetic cooing, but is setting up Grace, her only competitor in terms of looks/'class' to be eviscerated for bossiness or snobbery she happens to share and encourage (she is leaving Nikki alone knowing that others in the group will vote for her eviction). Her stroke of genius may be to string Sezer along until she can call him a sexist prick for all the females of Britain, and the nation will go wild.

I am wont to sympathise with Grace the Prefect because I think her bossiness flares up in situations (drunks, whiners) where anyone would object and where anyone would sound bossy or shrill for doing so. Imogen is cannier and realises trying to control the group is as pointless as herding cats.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 08:53 (nineteen years ago)

I think Nikki was just damned with faint praise there.

Indeed. The scary thing is that Enrique may be right.

For me, Pete in the diary room is the highlight of BB so far. His "Lisa fancies me!" diary entry was excellent.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 08:54 (nineteen years ago)

i feel for nikki a bit because she doesn't know that you're not aloud to talk about class, at least not the way she wants to, even if it's a/the salient fact of life in this country. she is perceptive, anyway

yes, that too.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 08:55 (nineteen years ago)

sezer's "by *not* shagging me you earn my respect" line was *so* lame that by seeming to fall for it imogen revealed herself as a veritable machiavelli of the valleys.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 09:04 (nineteen years ago)

I kind of fancied Pete last night.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 09:05 (nineteen years ago)

But all of Nikki's "THE HORRIBLE POSHIES ARE BEING HORRIBLE TO ME" schtick doesn't work because her entire entrance was "HAHAH BOW DOWN BEFORE ME PEOPLE OF SLIGHTLY LOWER SOCIAL STANDINGS, I HAVE SUNGLASSES THAT COST FOUR WEEKS FOOD SHOPPING".

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 09:23 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, well, erm...

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 09:23 (nineteen years ago)

Horrible poshies don't go in for histrionics and probably have parental lectures about setting a good example. However, although a public schoolgirl Grace is not posh no matter how many summers she spent at Rock as a teen. Her father (estranged) managed Haircut 100 and her mum is a music-biz exec with Harriet Oleson tendencies. She is so much like some of Ed's little sister's (moneyed but not pedigreed) friends it makes me want to scream.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 09:32 (nineteen years ago)

I saw a bit of this last night. I was waiting for my order at the chinese takeaway. (yes I know I post this on every BB thread, chances are I'll visit the takeaway at least once during each run, and they'll usually have it on) I saw a blond woman getting into a strop about something, it looked a bit put on. A guy who looked like he wanted to be pete doherty rubbed her back and sort of sympathised in a rather pathetic and ineffectual way. Then another woman sat on the chair in the diary room, got a bit upset, and stared at the side of the room for a bit. This fascinating vista was interrupted by the arrival of duck in black bean sauce w/crispy noodles. It was delicious. Big Brother looked like an utterly miserable experience, tense and boring at the same time.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 09:33 (nineteen years ago)

Sezer is a complete twat, he'd actually be ok if he could somehow reign himself in, but sadly not.

I don't know if I actually like any of them to be honest.

She's not posh at all, to be honest when I first watched it I thought of her as just another BB contestant who looked like they had been on that programme about Butlins Redcoats. Subsequently she seems more middle class but no way is she posh middle class. Posh middle class English is surely like TIM or someone like that.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 09:51 (nineteen years ago)

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 10:02 (nineteen years ago)

Enrique, it's the schools, not the education department who pay the fees in terms of a scholarship. I got other money from, erm, other places too (don't know the details, but some trust fund someone set up for kids in need of a decent education that we had to go and apply for, I think).

Onimo, any way you mix Gaelic and Alabama Song is FINE BY ME.

Someone upthread/first thread invented the term 'Hollyoaks person' to describe, I think, members of the social class inhabited by Mickey and Nikki (lives in market town, would buy a Barratt home except Nikki would buy the show home, shops Tesco/Asda, no political opinions). My feeling based on amateur sociology is that LMC people breed ickle toy dogs, MC people buy pedigreed working-breed dogs or go to shelters, UMCs are moving into ponies/horses but still need dogs, whilst toffs and the stinking rich are concentrating on NOT INBREEDING. This is why George looks a generation away from walleye.

We can settle the Grace: Posh or Not by TIM HOPKINS TO THREAD because she's from his manor innit.

I hope Shell is going out with Snow Patrol blokey, he's very nice.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 12:17 (nineteen years ago)

Cor, you got all that from "Hollyoaks person"? I just took it to mean pretty, well-groomed, but a bit dim. What do teh working classes do in your amateur sociological opinion, btw? Not exist?

The toffs and stinking rich people I know (not many, admittedly) are very very nice people indeed. Lack of pretension and aspiration, innit, leaving them time to just be themselves.

The _worst_ people, and this is a FACT, are people who's parents were aspirational working class who actually achieved, through pure graft, a fortune and the standing of upper middle classness, if not the respect. Then parents spoiled said child something rotten, forgot to install a work ethic in them, and now they wander the earth like satan's minions.

VERY glad George has gone. He wasn't even vile in an interesting way.

I'm predicting the noms will be: Nikki, Grace & Lea. With Grace to leave to thunderous boos. Leading to a lightbulb going off over Nikki's head, resulting in her becoming unbearably annoying in the next two weeks.

Is this Shell / Snow Patrol thing true? Google says nothing. Suzy, what do you think of the Holy Moly crusade against GL?

grace is not an actual blue-blood but come off it, she's posh. most people don't know the difference anyway -- as far as bb contestants/viewers go, she = posh.

What is the difference though between posh and stuck up? Posh - middle to upper class moneyed type, Stuck-up - looking down ones nose regardless of their own background?

I'm just surmising here, I don't really know anything about class or all these 'hilarious' 'shops in Asda breeds toy dogs' associations. Just want to get things clear in my own head.

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 15:06 (nineteen years ago)

I haven't seen it for a few days but this year's BB must be pretty dull if this class argument is the most interesting thing to talk about right now.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

I haven't really been watching, five minutes a night is enough, I get too stressed and shouty.

But by all accounts the class thing is very important (at least on here it is) and here is where I come for my BB fix.

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

GL has a crusade against him? Why? Mind when I met him it was first EP time years ago so power balance dictated he would be pleasant at the least, but he was memorably a nice person and cute with it.

I think if Grace leaves on Friday the boos will be preferable to staying in; I wouldn't care what the kind of people who'd go down to Elstree to jeer folk would have to say about ANYTHING and nor should anyone else (the DS boards are full of uneducated numpties fighting over which BB contestant is the biggest slag and it also seems as though they're having a bad spelling contest too). Has anyone else heard that Dawn might try to bring false imprisonment charges against Endemol?

Nikki just puts on her sunglasses when she's having a huff but she might have a LAZY eye.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 15:23 (nineteen years ago)

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 15:39 (nineteen years ago)

Her case rests on asking to leave and them refusing to release her in a way beyond the normal 'sleep on it' before all the code hoo-ha.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

I thought Nikki had some sort of eye infection for a while. There was a lingering close up of her looking in the mirror at her puffy eye and making sorry-for-onself whining noises. She was also taking eye-drops, which has now stopped.

Grace is propah working class, remember: "some of my family live on council estates". Though I may have mis-heard and she actually said "country estates".

Walking out is the most energetic thing George has done in the house. What a slug-a-bed he was! Forever flopped out on the beanbags, drawling the odd sentence. When he went to the diary room with Grace and Lisa(?) recently, he sat there with his eyes closed, head lolling... what a wierd way to behave.

It's true! I saw shahbaz! he was in front of me in the queue in a denim baseball cap. I didn't notice, until he'd been served and turned to leave and almost straight into me. I think the cashier wished him good luck. I said "oh, shahbaz..."

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 22:00 (nineteen years ago)

evictions predictions Grace vs Sezer and (possibly) Nikki with Grace to go whether Nikki is nominated or not. i actually think Grace is decent.

Sezer and Imogen were apparently not allowed to nominate. is it possible that ch4 (who are notoriously inconsistent in enforcing this no nomination discussion rule*) chose to enforce it this week in order to keep Nikki in the house?

* i thought they were allowed to discuss them this year anyway?

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 23:03 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, shahbaz apparently at an optimo after-party which i declined to go to. apparently. maybe my friend lies. should i be sad about this? conflicting emotions. autographs? ha.

this is the only ILX thread I read. not watched BB since last week either. it fails to live up to the discussion.

grace is not an actual blue-blood but come off it, she's posh

As soon as Grace walked in we had her pegged as nouveau riche i.e. money but no class, presumably of 1st generation wealthy parents. The difference between her and George made it pretty obvious.

alext (alext), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 06:01 (nineteen years ago)

OK, watching last night's show now. Nikki is spectacularly failing to grasp the concept of "pre-op transsexual" despite Richard trying to explain it in words of one syllable. "you're winding me up, aintcha?"

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 06:34 (nineteen years ago)

I really like Glyn, btw. He's such a sweetheart. Dopey, shite taste in women as noted above, but, bless, he's only a kid.

Mikey's "why are you calling it she, it's a he" was either edited to make him look like a twat or he is truly vile (I go with the latter due to the look on his face as he said it, and his horrendous audition tape)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 06:37 (nineteen years ago)

Also Slezer calling Aisleyne a ghetto ho and various other niceties - urgh. please stop.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 06:43 (nineteen years ago)

However, she is doing a sterling job of making him look like a twonk, asking him about his tactics, his bullying, etc. "it's a bit worrying when you say you get rid of the ones you didn't like" *twirls hair, flirts*

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 06:47 (nineteen years ago)

yes, as i said and you quoted, she's not actual blue-blood (like george), but come off it, she's posh. i'm not going to get into their game of debating tiny gradations of it: in any case you don't need to be posh to have class, and the reverse is also true. but you *do* need money to be posh.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 07:22 (nineteen years ago)

People are really saying some idiotic things about Sam (not on this thread, but elsewhere).

Sezer:
"I like Sam - I think she's quite genuine. But you've also got to realise... she's a boy who thinks she's a girl. To go through that transition, something doesn't click right in your head. You've got to have something not all there."

And DS is saying mental health organisations have complained that BB is exloiting someone with a "vulnerable mental condition".

The psychologist on Big Brain the other night said that Sam was obviously completely confused, and that if she was a gay man trying to attract men but acting as a woman then it was obviously some defensive tactic to shield herself from letting anyone get near her.

Anyone else finding this quite offensive? Sam hasn't shown any signs of being mentally ill or disturbed or even unhappy with her situation. Also, she keeps being referred to as a "pre-op transexual", but hasn't said anywhere that I've seen that she actually intends to have any operation.

It just seems ridiculous that people would pass judgement on her mental health already when all we've really seen her do so far is say "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god".

Cathy (Cathy), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 07:36 (nineteen years ago)

Also, she keeps being referred to as a "pre-op transexual", but hasn't said anywhere that I've seen that she actually intends to have any operation.

this is indeed a confusing label; richard also said sam 'lived as a woman', which isn't quite true either.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 07:39 (nineteen years ago)

Anyone else finding this quite offensive?

Yes, indeed.

Sam hasn't shown any signs of being mentally ill or disturbed or even unhappy with her situation.

If she was, she'd hardly be as open about it as she was with the rest of the house.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:03 (nineteen years ago)

And DS is saying mental health organisations have complained that BB is exloiting someone with a "vulnerable mental condition".

Big Brother is not really exploiting anyone. It's not compulsory to go on these things, you know. Some DS posters are quite easily led to silly and wrongheaded conclusions, I have noticed. Mind you, so are some ILX posters, so, you know...

i think some of this is damage limitation, she's getting it out early to avoid all the talking behind backs etc (richard said as much).

when does transvestitism become transgenderism? and which is sam, do we know? would anything be different if he was named 'kevin' at birth, say?

koogy wonderland (koogs), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:15 (nineteen years ago)

Transvestism generally does not lead to transgenderism, in as much as the individual will probably already self identify as transgendered rather than a transvestite.

Wanting to dress up in womens clothes DOES NOT EQUAL wanting to be a woman (see role play et al).

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:26 (nineteen years ago)

Sam wants to be treated as a girl, referred to as "her", "she" etc, doesn't she - therefore not simply a bloke who wears women's clothes. Does pre-op mean the same as "hasn't had an op and might not have one" or is it a loaded term inferring that there is an intention to have an op sometime in the future?

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:30 (nineteen years ago)

pre-op is def completely loaded, to my ears

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:31 (nineteen years ago)

One has to assume there's an intention, if not an immediate one, otherwise we're all pre-op.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:32 (nineteen years ago)

otm

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:34 (nineteen years ago)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:37 (nineteen years ago)

'pre-op' to me sounds like intends to have an operation and maybe is already taking hormones and in the process.

sam's voice gets on my tits.

like an ant to a crumb (jed), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:42 (nineteen years ago)

"pre-op" is occasionally used to mean someone who wants to live a TG life without having the op at all, but only rarely.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:43 (nineteen years ago)

ha, pete, i wasn't clear. i realise the two things are different. i guess my question is 'can you be transgender if you don't ever intend to have the operation?' and that anything less qualifies as transvestism at best... (the 'vest' bit extended to cover entire appearance, hair, nails and behaviour etc, not just clothes)

has she said anything about operation? she said she hasn't had one (prompted by richard) but that doesn't imply she intends to.

(xpost fp, ah, ok)

koogy wonderland (koogs), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:44 (nineteen years ago)

i guess we're in tabloid shorthand territory here...

koogy wonderland (koogs), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:45 (nineteen years ago)

"TG" is also sometimes used for people who want to live as the opposite gender without having the op - some people would say that means you don't count as "TS".

"TG" can also be used as a catch-all term for anyone who presents or dresses as the opposite gender to their sex, whatever their motivation.

"TV" often means people who cross-dress because they get a sexual kick out of it. Some people who use *that* definition would use "CD" for someone who cross-dresses for non-sexual pleasure.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 08:46 (nineteen years ago)

Latest task: the HMs now have to dress as "geeks" in some clothes BB has provided. Generally it's an improvement. I think Grace looks quite hot in her prim outfit, maybe it's the white socks.
(Imogen has to wear a big baggy cardie - though it isn't too dissimilar to the one Sezer normally wears)

I think my point was more that 'posh' depends on where you see yourself in a social hierarchy. Whether or not I actually think this, my post was having a go at role-playing 'I feel more posh than Grace so I look down on her as common' whereas you are saying 'Grace makes me feel common so I resent her poshness'. Except you're probably not actually saying that at all. :-0

alext (alext), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:49 (nineteen years ago)

What an xpost! My background has everything from stinking rich Huguenots to lace-curtain Irish to mass-migratory Poles and Swedes. Both of my grannies did fashion design but they also knew the value of hard work. However the early divorcer pink collar demographic of my mom is totally LMC. And I am a scholarship kid like Ailsa, but at uni, which featured sick jet trash and faculty brats in abundance. My knowledge of Engerland's class system comes from market research, Eng Lit and 8 years as a literary editor for a British mgazine, 15 years as a journalist in London, a very close friendship with an oldskool upper-class mad scientist and his family, which includes my best friend from home, and my auntie's bestie, who was a Manc from Moston and very useful to the world's largest teen Smiths fan. The last two examples have told me a lot about Britain over the years. Make of that what you will.

Dom, they had the Scum, which did not go into that much detail about Nikki, but did use the S word.

Lots of people get sectioned and there are lots of reasons for it; recently my friend C. has been in the papers off the back of a good novel written based on her years coping in the mental health system. She is lovely beyond compare and her condition feels like an imposition to her. If this is true I feel sorry for Nikki because of the ALARMIST public reaction but that doesn't stop me thinking the fact that her priorities are all fucked up and she's a whiner is more problematic than her MEDICAL history.

About Nikki being sectioned - I've been hearing rumours since the programme began about her having had anorexia, and someone I know who had had it pointed out that Nikki's suspicion of impurities in tapwater is common in anorexics. If you have it as a teen you can get sent to an adolescent unit for a while, which could be what this sectioning talk is all about.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:10 (nineteen years ago)

Imogen is a horrible name, unless you are a multinational computer company.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:12 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yeah and about Russel, I remember Alba liking him I think, but I seem to remember major ILX dislike of him, at some point.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:12 (nineteen years ago)

Alba:

1. You like him cos he's the only man in the first world thinner than you.
2. I said it quietly to myself before the housemates were even chosen.
3. If it was in the back of an ambulance on the way to somewhere less nice it doesn't count.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:12 (nineteen years ago)

I despise Sezer as much as anyone but I half-wish he wasn't up for eviction. As Lara points out, Sezer will claim it was unfair because he wasn't allowed to nominate and I dunno, the guy's a cunt but I want his pariah status whipped up to Posh Tim-style levels.

Grace gets more vile by the minute. Soooo demanding and bossy, and all about the self-interest. Sobbing like her dad just died because 'there's only four of us left, our group is fucked...' This splitting off into two groups only came about because of her and Sezer - there's no way blandorz like Mikey and Imogen would have initiated that by themselves.

Richard and Pete both went on about Sezer's disgusting comments but we haven't seen much of these on the show. Makes me wonder what he's been coming out with.

Glyn's reasons: brilliant. Why doesn't he just tell Richard what his name is?!

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:13 (nineteen years ago)

Well anyone who gets too close to Richard gets slobbered on and frotted. Glyn's young but not that stupid.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:14 (nineteen years ago)

Unlike Slezer.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:15 (nineteen years ago)

I don't mind Richard, he's just kind of vapid. I think Grace seems ok too, to be honest, just a bit of a priss, nowhere near Saskia levels of evil alpha female tho.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:17 (nineteen years ago)

Oooooh, I hate Richard. He seems so irritatingly *content* it pisses me off to even look at him.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:17 (nineteen years ago)

I don't really hate anyone so far, in it, except Sezer I guess.

The only moment of real fury was when Dawn kept saying "oh shut up", my god that was annoying.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

Richard doesn't bother me at all, maybe it's a N.American thing. I think some of his manners are more common from non-Britisher type people.

I never minded Saskia either - but I really don't like Grace. She's everything that's bad about a high school cheerleader. Great body, double standards about flaunting it. Mean, and then trying to convince herself that she's nice, by repeation "I'm not a mean person" over and over again.

marianna (mariannapm), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:22 (nineteen years ago)

Grace has totally snuck into the alpha female role as if from nowhere. I agree Sezer should stay for the sake of good TV, but I would LOVE to see his little prick face upon losing to Lea after that stuff he was saying about being a shoo-in to beat her. Nikki has now passed through annoying and come out the other side. Her nominations performance was magnificent. A teeny bit of kudos to Mikey for not entirely towing the Lea/Richard party line. Richard has been nothing but mature and reasonable since Shabaz left, so I'm willing to put his bullying down to gayness-envy.

RE Russell Brand: Very funny and intensely annoying at the same time.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:25 (nineteen years ago)

xpost Agreed, also note: Grace panicking when her group falls apart around her and running to arselick Richard "You keep the group together, you're great," then turning away and hissing "You two-faced fuck" in her next breath. Nasty spiteful human being.

Pete completely and utterly and fantastically OTM in his description of Imogen. Does she REALLY get upset at Richard for toy-flirting with Sezer?!

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:26 (nineteen years ago)

Weird, Saskia I really hated, thought she was thick and nasty, whereas Grace at least has a brain. I agree she is a bit mean, but then how annoying would the likes of Nikki be.

Pete is a weird one, can't make my mind up about him, I half suspect he would seem nastier if it wasn't for his ticks, I realise that sounds a bit iffy, but there's something about him, is he really so different from the other blokes.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:27 (nineteen years ago)

was really liking the idea of sezer out, second, but, now, agree that it would be better for richard to go, sezer to get to nom, next week, be up against lea, again, and lose

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:28 (nineteen years ago)

I don't like people who think they are normal and can't accept individuality (or emotional problems) within other people. I guess that's why I don't like Grace & Imogen & Mikey.

I love Russell Brand.

marianna (mariannapm), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:28 (nineteen years ago)

Sezer's plan to get all members of the Yoof Groop to nominate Richard and Lea almost worked. I really don't think Mikey would have voted for Richard if he hadn't been prodded to do so. Friday will be so great, can't wait to see Sezer die a little inside and Imogen gasp in horror and Grace cry and Mikey carry on grinning like the total moron he is.

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:29 (nineteen years ago)

Also, Ronan OTM re: Pete.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:29 (nineteen years ago)

when did mikey ever say he was normal or anything else at all?

actually, mikey did say "why are you saying 'she'? it's a 'he'"

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:31 (nineteen years ago)

Pete was quite nasty about Imogen in his nominations.

Whatever about whether she deserves it or not.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:32 (nineteen years ago)

Yes Ronan, Nikki would be hard to deal with, but Grace doesn't seem to show any sympathy or understanding or acceptance for anyone that's different from her. Her existance makes me feel bad for humans!

marianna (mariannapm), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:32 (nineteen years ago)

On a time out lads, has BB ever been this entertaining before or is my life becoming less interesting as I get older?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:33 (nineteen years ago)

Sorry Lara, it's you.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

I despise Sezer as much as anyone but I half-wish he wasn't up for eviction. As Lara points out, Sezer will claim it was unfair because he wasn't allowed to nominate and I dunno, the guy's a cunt but I want his pariah status whipped up to Posh Tim-style levels.

I don't think that will happen though. The funniest thing would be for him to get booted out at the first opportunity. Watch Grace's gang implode!

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

I was impartial upthread about getting Sezer out, but now I find have have just voted for eviction of the little prick. Is this normal?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:37 (nineteen years ago)

Heh, it's funny how different people provoke different reactions. I can see that Grace is sort of whitebread NORMAL, and I know exactly what your criticisms are of her, and yet I don't find her that depressing/irritating. Just sort of boring, she doesn't seem aggressively normal to me.

Also is Nikki really any better? Just because she is stupid does not mean she is any less conservative.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:37 (nineteen years ago)

Sezer will claim it was unfair because he wasn't allowed to nominate

this is the only reason I want him to survive, this week

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:38 (nineteen years ago)

I just think that Grace is going control-freak because she's in a house with a lot of people much more volatile and iliberal in opinion than her. Also if she was being sympathetic people would just think ehh boring Eath mother, and I don't reckon she wants to be seen that way. That she isn't just letting go of how she wants to be seen is the real problem.

It would be VERY poor if Nikki catches flak for being sectioned for anorexia complications.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:38 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't really dislike Grace until I realised how nakedly "them and us" she was today.

She still doesn't annoy me like previous contestants have done. None of them do, really. Sezer might if he weren't so ridiculous. Ditto Nikki.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:40 (nineteen years ago)

Did anyone else find it odd that Nikki got *no* nominations?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:40 (nineteen years ago)

have a look at the live feed now and *gasp* at how repulsive this ashlyn bird looks without make up.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:41 (nineteen years ago)

I haven't formed any strong opinion about Nikki yet. She understands something about individuality, in so much as she seems to know herself and not care that much about what others think of her. Grace really cares what others think of her, hence her huge quasi-apology to Pete for being a bitch about the new girls. So Nikki beats Grace for me there.

marianna (mariannapm), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:41 (nineteen years ago)

I rate the housemates in terms of how I reckon I'd deal with them if I were in there (in practical terms what they might even be like to have on my team at work):

Mikey/Imogen: somewhat decorative but wouldn't really notice them so not bothered.

Glyn: wonderful.

Pete: can't work him out; treat with caution.

Lea: too ugly to look at and therefore v v bad.

Grace: I would want to kill her but the insecure me would want to be liked by her (and then kill her).

Nikki: hilarious; good to wind up and watch; easy to bribe by loaning her clothes etc.

Sezer: scumble.

Lisa: like jimmy krankie on speed bad bad bad.

Richard: the evil dictator; to be usurped.

Newbies: glyn bait so good.

Me: at this stage floating face down in the pool praying for death.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:42 (nineteen years ago)

I hope I'm not acting typically girl hating girl here, because I loathe Sezar and Mikey just as much.

marianna (mariannapm), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:43 (nineteen years ago)

id actually rather mikey went out and this weeks three stayed put.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:45 (nineteen years ago)

How can we make it happen???

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:46 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah Alba otm, none of them are grounded enough to really annoy me, all too crazy.

x-post, I don't think Nikki knows herself, she's probably the most all over the place of any of them.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:47 (nineteen years ago)

to answer alba's earlier question i find it completely bizarre that Nikki got no nominations.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:49 (nineteen years ago)

I mean, all we've seen all week is half the house complaining about her.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:49 (nineteen years ago)

What did Pete say about Imogen that was nasty? She DOES just sit there twiddling her hair and being pretty and ... nothing else. Her anti-harmless-gay-hijinks stance does her no favours either.

Grace & Nikki bonding over shitty meditation chants (I think? or is this some task) on the live feed right now. Yeah, I was surprised Nikki didn't get any nominations but it could be down to the 'who could be cruel enough to vote for baby' factor - which is one of the main reasons I went against Grace: her massive overreaction to Nikki not liking the salmon.

I don't see the Richard-hate at all. He's a bit condescending perhaps but far from the worst in there. He seems to mean well, and kinda wants everyone to get on in there.

xposts, ugh Grace running after Pete, FORCING him to hug her and pretty much ORDERING him to like her and BEING angry at his not WANTING to, and other THINGS.

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:49 (nineteen years ago)

She's like a real-life, sluttier version of one of those Cry Baby dolls.

RJG so totally, totally OTM with this. it's the only way maximum humiliation can be ensured.

alba, yes: i can't believe nobody voted for nikki.

pete wasn't that unpleasant about imogen, was he? i thought he was kinda spot-on.

er, what else ... been away so just caught the last few minutes of the 9pm show, then read this thread to catch up ... fuck, there was other stuff i was gonna ask about. i care about this too much, i fear.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:50 (nineteen years ago)

i care about this too much, i fear.

Don't be afraid, you're among friends!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:52 (nineteen years ago)

what did you mean about the caption comp jed?

Mikey just seems a colossal bore, so far, negative marks for looking like Vernon Kaye.

Sezer is definitely much worse than Grace though.

x-post, surely sitting and twiddling with her hair is not that bad a thing to do? nor that good, but still. pete is hardly radically interesting either, he just is catatonic sitting on someones knee most of the time.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:52 (nineteen years ago)

But all this is distracting me from the best thing about the show: Glyn! His drooling over Aislene's legs was hilarious, if he carries on like this he could rival BB3 Jon for supreme comedy housemate of all-time. It makes me shiver to think how close we came to losing him and keeping, ack, Bonnie..

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

Is there some way we could get a message into the house in *insist* tht Sezer stop parading around with his hairy boobs on show? He's putting me off my pre-bed ice-cream treat.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

There was a competition on the Russell Brand thing where you had to provide a caption for a photo of Glyn looking at Lea's arse. The joint winner was "Ronan from Ireland".

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:54 (nineteen years ago)

Oh right. There's another Ronan.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:54 (nineteen years ago)

xpost, sitting there, twiddling hair, being dull and adding nothing to the house is a perfectly fine reason to nominate someone!

Pete's glory comes in the little 3 second clips the producers throw in there, cf: talking to the fly, larking about with the underwater cam, etc.

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:55 (nineteen years ago)

I think it must have been Ronan Keating.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:55 (nineteen years ago)

the winner of tonight's big mouth caption competition was won by "ronan from ireland". i got excited for a second before realising you would have come up with a better caption than the one what won.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:55 (nineteen years ago)

Jed, was that the 'Glyn learns to lip-read' one? I sniggered.

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:55 (nineteen years ago)

What was it?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:56 (nineteen years ago)

It was the other one about the valleys.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 20:56 (nineteen years ago)

*gasp* at how repulsive this ashlyn bird looks without make up

A face oddly like Virginia Woolf, I thought.

Pete was, by some margin, the least nasty of everyone in his nominations. And generally.

Lisa now tops my vile HM list. Just a complete nightmare to live with, I imagine.

I really wish some of the dead-wood (MIKEY) could go this week instead of Sezer. I could easily wait for his - and Grace's - cummupence.

Nikki is amazing.

"[Pete] larking about with the underwater cam"

The full-length BB live footage of that is still the most wonderful moment so far this series.

David Orton (scarlet), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 21:14 (nineteen years ago)

Richard and Pete both went on about Sezer's disgusting comments but we haven't seen much of these on the show. Makes me wonder what he's been coming out with

I saw some of these, they were right after the nominations/bullying conflict/not got a single brain in her head conversation the other night. Nikki joined Sezar and Imogen, then Sezar started talking about how Richard fancied him and it made him "sick to the stomach", and how he thought it was a joke at first but was now convinced that Richard really did have a huge crush on him, and it made him sick (the word sick definitely came up a few times). Then there were some more "something doesn't click right in your head if you turn out like that" comments, the same thing he had said about Sam being transgender, but applying them to homosexuality.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

Final thought before I sleep: as great as RJG's suggestion is, Sezer needs to go solely because of his "the girls out there will keep me in, they'll vote for me to stay" comment. Ace how such a smug little cock will become just another of those easily forgettable early-goners.

And now I'm off to bed, still chuckling about Glyn asking for BB to cook him a secret roast dinner in the diary room - and how he doesn't like Grace because she talks about Harrods. Glyn to win!

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 22:40 (nineteen years ago)

"she talks about london and other places I've never been"

fantastic

don't actually like him all that much, though

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 22:42 (nineteen years ago)

Also, Nikki's nominations shouldn't go unmentioned: bizarre reason for nominating Lea, purely because she can't understand why she's come in here if she cares about what people think outside, topped off with the rummest quote of the day:
"IF PEOPLE DONT LIKE ME THEY CAN... THEY CAN WIPE THEIR ARSE WITH ME! I DONT CARE! I PLEASURE MYSELF!"

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 22:45 (nineteen years ago)

yes, my head was doing it in after "they can wipe their arse with me!!"

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 22:47 (nineteen years ago)

oh my, what are they fighting about?

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 23:13 (nineteen years ago)

Richard has been hiding alcohol, Sezer and Mikey are taking him to task on this.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 23:13 (nineteen years ago)

who was richard calling a whore or whatever sezer's accusing him of?

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 23:17 (nineteen years ago)

ok imogen i take it. now richard's saying he's going to leave too ffs!

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 23:21 (nineteen years ago)

Hopefully Sezer will go because if he survives nomination he'll become unbearable and he could survive future nominations because the others will think he's too popular in the outside world to be voted out.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Thursday, 1 June 2006 00:21 (nineteen years ago)

I was just going to say that. He'd be unbearable the whole of next week. He'd still get maxinominated and then go, but still.

Massive boo-age? First of the series? (Bonnie didn't get much)

i agree with ronan and rjg re. pete.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 07:36 (nineteen years ago)

It was Pete who hid the booze, not Richard - xpost to Dom.

The fight started because Sezer accused Richard of drinking his booze and not just his own. Erm... wasn't this what started MaxskiaGate last year too?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 June 2006 08:25 (nineteen years ago)

"i like the monarchy. i'm well up with all that god stuff and everyfink. that's where the monks live, right?"

koogy wonderland (koogs), Thursday, 1 June 2006 08:45 (nineteen years ago)

In more parallels with previous years, and the downfall of people who thought they were 'players', Sezer locked in the diary room at one point during the argument after threatening to beat Richard up (which, coming from an ex-boxer, one must assume is a credible threat).

Also, at the height of the argument Imogen couldn't help getting sucked in to it and blurted out to everyone that she and Sezer hadn't been allowed to nominate. They've tried to gloss over it since, and have denied it had anything to do with discussing noms, but the whole of the house is aware now.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 June 2006 08:49 (nineteen years ago)

i somehow prefer sezer *as a housemate* to richard and lea, but more and more i think he shd go. lea is deadweight, but i'm already bored with the cool-gang bullshit.

mikey needs to be punched in the face.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 08:58 (nineteen years ago)

i am not a nugget (stevie), Thursday, 1 June 2006 09:11 (nineteen years ago)

Aisleyne reportedly lost her promotions job after she was found to be inspecting her enhanced breasts rather than working.

Sporting her newly-acquired £4,000 breasts, she was sent to serve a new drink that her company was pushing at a classical concert at Hampton Court Palace, though she proved not to be the model worker, according to The Sun.

Rather than carrying the drinks on trays as planned, the housemate apparently decided to shun the responsibility - in fear that it may harm her coveted assets – and instead go to examine them in the bathroom.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 1 June 2006 09:30 (nineteen years ago)

stop getting enhanced breasts

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 1 June 2006 09:32 (nineteen years ago)

...although I would find it hilarious if the teenage girl texters and bored housewives - which I'm sure make up the majority of the people who actually bother to vote - all ensure that Sezer is kept in, seeing as how he's been a complete misogynistic arse the entire time, and presumably during his entire life outside as well.

But he's fit, innit.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Thursday, 1 June 2006 09:45 (nineteen years ago)

You bullied that girl there," he said in reference to Imogen, who was now in the bathroom letting off steam with Grace and Nikki.

Man, they can't keep these two apart now.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 1 June 2006 09:51 (nineteen years ago)

80% Sezer
14% Lea
6% Richard

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 1 June 2006 09:53 (nineteen years ago)

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 1 June 2006 11:14 (nineteen years ago)

okay, i was wrong about lisa, then.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 11:28 (nineteen years ago)

Sezzer must go this week - otherwise he'll sit back knowing he's beaten the evictee and believing he's beaten the other one too. It doesn't matter that he might not have been up for nomination if he and Imogen could have voted. What matters is that he sees that eightsomething percent of the viewers think he's even worse than Barbie and Ken.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 1 June 2006 11:30 (nineteen years ago)

Shamelessly nicked from DS:

Roll on Friday night, and boos, boos, boos!!!

And as an extra bonus, Grace and Imodium's face when they hear those boos.

Actually, just had a thought - will they pump the audience noise in as Davina addresses the house?

If they did then the following will play out:

'Big Brother House this is...' Sezer grinning smugly. 'Lea...' applause, only a few boos, 'Richard...' overwhelming applause, 'And Sezer...' boos and hisses so loud the audio guy has to bring the levels down. Sezer looks traumatised like Maxwell did last year. 'The votes have been counted and verified and I can now reveal..'

Sezer shifts in his seat, sweat beads on his forehead.

'Sezer!'

Grace bursts into tears, Imodium faints, Mikey malfunctions.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 June 2006 11:37 (nineteen years ago)

has anyone worked out who would have been up, had sezer & imogen nommed, as planned?

richard would have two more? who was the other?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 1 June 2006 12:44 (nineteen years ago)

I figure Lea would have had two more as well.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 June 2006 12:46 (nineteen years ago)

yeah.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

so it would have just been lea and richard? oh well

saw shahbaz, again. this time heading north on buchanan street, just after borders. he kept stopping for cameraphone photos and to take someone's phone and speak to their friend or something and so on and on and on. 15 mins later, he still hadn't reached st. vincent street

oh, shahbaz

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 1 June 2006 13:07 (nineteen years ago)

i don't know what will be better his face when he hears the boo's or a realisation when davina tells him that if he hadnt been such 'i aint gonna get nominated blah blah is...' monkey he woulda survived

secondhandnews (secondhandnews), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

suppose it makes v little diff whether a majority of housemates would have got it together to have him be up for eviction if the voting public overwhelmingly want him out

like I say--my only worry is that he will be fine w/ thinking that he is only out because he didn't get to nom (which, of course, was his own fault, too, but he can think it was unfair or something, I bet)

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:18 (nineteen years ago)

well bb is being very selective about punishing ppl for talking about noms.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:22 (nineteen years ago)

I think this year's subtle distinction is that while they are allowed to discuss trends and analyse people's chances they're not allowed to say outright who they'll vote for to anyone before they go in to do it.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:27 (nineteen years ago)

the conversation about nominations was very vague, no names at all. both punished HMs seemed puzzled that BB had taken them to task about it.

but didn't BB say that it was ok to talk about housemates and whether you liked them or not? is it as simple as saying 'i don't like richard, i don't like lea' and just not mentioning votes or nominations?

koogy wonderland (koogs), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:33 (nineteen years ago)

sezer saying 'if nominations go to plan' was probably the nail in the camel's back.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:36 (nineteen years ago)

the final straw that broke the coffin

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:39 (nineteen years ago)

I don't find Sezer in any way attractive.

Pete reminds me of Zed from Police Academy.

So nobody thinks Sezer is physically attractive?

oh, okay then.

No, neither do I.

No, really.

I wasn't going to watch this year. I will not watch any more i will not watch any more i will not watch any more i will watch more

hobart paving (hobart paving), Thursday, 1 June 2006 14:44 (nineteen years ago)

No, people do think Sezer is physically attractive. Well, I do. This doesn't cloud my judgement of his general cockfarmingness at all.

She was hilarious. Watch/tape the repeat tomorrow morning.

We're not all unemployed, you know!

(sorry)

Anyway, twice tonight Aisleyne has pwned Sezer (the 'ghetto ho' conversation and the 'laughing at yourself' conversation) - in addition to 'I'm not sure how happy I am that you just got rid of people you didn't like' and 'do you mean bullying?' conversations the other night I think she's my new favourite housemate. The only problem is that Sezer will be forgotten about by the time it coems for voting for her to win.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 June 2006 19:38 (nineteen years ago)

I love how Sezer has really stepped up his annoyingness game in an ill-advised attempt to charm the public into liking him.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 1 June 2006 19:40 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, you've got a job, you can afford a video. (xpost to aldo)

Aisleyne appears to be smarter than she seemed initially. Though, to be fair, it wouldn't take much in the way of brains to pwn Sezer (but at least she has the guts to call him out on his nasty skeeziness)

I'm interested now that the veneer has cracked. What's next?!

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 1 June 2006 19:51 (nineteen years ago)

Umm. Richard tries to back down from the very beginning, Sezer & Imogen cunts throughout. There's selective editing and there's being Lord Haw Haw, which is what I think it might have taken to make the Gruesome Twosome look good tonight.

Apparently Imogen has just been told on the live feed she can't vote next week either for discussing noms during this fight.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 June 2006 19:52 (nineteen years ago)

I'm just trying to think what Grace's best game plan would be right now?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 1 June 2006 19:52 (nineteen years ago)

Ha ha! Pete aounds like a mobile disco with all this fighting going on!

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 1 June 2006 19:54 (nineteen years ago)

Richard, weeping, geek glasses trembling, is hilarious. He dashes away to have a cry as Lea emits a plaintive "Dickie.." It's like Five go Big Brother.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 1 June 2006 19:56 (nineteen years ago)

The latter :)

ROFFLES

Cracks (Crackity), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:00 (nineteen years ago)

Yes! All the unimaginative fools on DS keep saying he looks like Richard Fairbrass, presumably because all bald gayists look alike.

(xpost, yeah, but the editing is very much in favour of making Pete look lovable)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:02 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah totally. He pretty much is though. A decent chap at the very least, though he was responsible for the booze-hiding that made everything blow up.

Funny to see Mikey be the instigator of the fight. About the only time he's raised above a murmur all series.

Cracks (Crackity), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

Hang on, Slezer was accusing other people of being bullying and scheming? (I didn't see the whole highlights show tonight, only the bits that coincided with the adverts in House, so further comments brought to you by the bits they show on BBBM)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:07 (nineteen years ago)

Slezer's brother on BBBM just now. Tosserness seems to run in the family.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:10 (nineteen years ago)

Tosserosity?

Bluebell Madonna (Ex Leon), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:14 (nineteen years ago)

oh ailsa, he was only on the phone for a minute.

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:14 (nineteen years ago)

Sleight of hand also runs in the family.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:15 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, according to his brother (somewhat improbably called Ozer) everyone else in the house is a bully and Sezer is just sticking up up for those who can't stick up for themselves, innit. "He only kills his own" and "He loves his mum" presumably just out of shot.

Quite where "the ghetto" is remains unanswered.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:16 (nineteen years ago)

Mikey, the inarticulate fuck. All that stumbling over words, blinking and boiling rage made it seem like he was seconds away from THWACKing Richard.

If Sezer had lashed out at Richard, I wonder if it would have turned into a proper fight and who would have come out on top.

Imogen, bleh: "I'm SO FUCKING NICE, I'm the nicest person in here, I'm FUCKING SICK OF IT, FUCK THEM ALL, I'm so nice. I'm nice. FUCK YOU ALL."

Richard: he slips up occasionally, like when he went ott with Shahbaz but he's not pure evil - he basically means well. I was cheering him on when he was politely telling Imogen that she was boring. He screwed up in the diary room by whining about how people didn't stick up for him - Pete was by his side all the way through it, and him and Lea aren't really the type to join in a screaming argument. Still, I like the guy.

Glyn's awesome wooing method: "Shall we go pretend to be trains on the train-track?" MY HERO

Affectian (Affectian), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:17 (nineteen years ago)

That minute was quite enough to form an opinion of his tosser credentials. Like what aldo said.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:18 (nineteen years ago)

Crosspost to AC: Walsall, I thought?

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:18 (nineteen years ago)

Richard obviously doesn't understand the fact that although everyone hates a behind-your-back bitcher, they hate being slagged off to their face even more.

Cracks (Crackity), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

of course he's going to stick up for his brother and he didn't actually say the stuff like what aldo said he said anyroad.

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:30 (nineteen years ago)

Umm, except when he did. It was the only question he actually got to answer without being interrupted.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

everyone else in the house is a bully and Sezer is just sticking up up for those who can't stick up for themselves, innit.

UMM, well this isn't too far from the truth is it? sezer isn't particularly more of a bully than alot of the other housemates and, actually, he does defend other people on occasion. sezer seems no more of a bully than richard, in fact.

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:43 (nineteen years ago)

jed, try watching the show some time, it might help your comprehension of the thread.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:47 (nineteen years ago)

I mean, I attacked Richard probably more than any other housemate over bullying Shahbaz, but it's hard to argue he's continued with it since he left.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:48 (nineteen years ago)

Fave bit from that episode: the 3 or 4 second shot of a medium white slice, with a single bite taken out of it, lying in a thick pool of grease in a frying pan.

That hooch: how did Lisa make it?

Sezer wuz just sticking up for his bird, innit? And thanks, in part, to his Mikey wig, Sezer looked like Medallion Man when he was having his bust-up with Dickie.

David Orton (scarlet), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:50 (nineteen years ago)

I mean, I attacked Richard probably more than any other housemate over bullying Shahbaz, but it's hard to argue he's continued with it since he left.

UMM, if you watched tonights show this doesn't even need to be argued, it was quite clear.

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, he was sticking up for Imogen, but, you know, that doesn't excuse him from being a bullying conniving twonk the rest of the time.

(telling someone the truth != bullying)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:54 (nineteen years ago)

Jed! Edited highlights make unclear! PAY MORE ATTENTION

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:56 (nineteen years ago)

telling someone your opinion of them != telling someone the truth. the reason it's bullying is because instead of confronting sezer he turns round and attacks imogen. you can't bully someone who can, quite obviously, beat you up!

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:58 (nineteen years ago)

Oh dear lord.

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Thursday, 1 June 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

Dickie could deck Sezer, I reckon. He's a sexual terrorist!! And Sezer is all maahhff.

David Orton (scarlet), Thursday, 1 June 2006 21:03 (nineteen years ago)

sezer's a boxer innit?

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 1 June 2006 21:06 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think I'll ever live to see the day when a Canadian can beat a Turk in a fight, to be honest.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 1 June 2006 21:08 (nineteen years ago)

re: sezer not being a bully

remember him saying "I will bully conflict out of her (aisleyne) and he (richard) will defend her"

at least richard is bullying someone he knows something about and has had to spend some time w/!!!!!! (this time)

pathetic, though. really wanted lea and richard to not cry and be rubbish and sezer to just look more of a dick but they didn't succeed but sezer does look more of a dick

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 1 June 2006 22:10 (nineteen years ago)

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 1 June 2006 22:18 (nineteen years ago)

...although I would find it hilarious if the teenage girl texters and bored housewives - which I'm sure make up the majority of the people who actually bother to vote - all ensure that Sezer is kept in, seeing as how he's been a complete misogynistic arse the entire time, and presumably during his entire life outside as well.

Who's the misogynist here? Is it Sezer, or is it you, in your suit and tie?

For those of you who don't get out much, Ozer is actually a VERY common Turkish name and please to remember that Canadians from Richard's neck of the woods come in size XL and above.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 2 June 2006 04:58 (nineteen years ago)

All I'm saying is that the people who would vote for Sezer to go probably aren't all that likely to bother to phone up or text in to vote.

Maybe I should have used the phrase 'Heat magazine readers' to imply 'bored housewives'. Not that I think everyobdy who reads Heat magazine is a desperate housewife.

ADVERT FOR CAESAR SMALL DOG FOOD!!!

I only just picked up on the hilarity of this. Sezer: small dog.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 2 June 2006 06:18 (nineteen years ago)

Sezer: "up for nomination next week as well" is up for the biggest "shock" tonight since Maxwell. As I said before, even though he expected it least out of everybody ever up for eviction, Maxwell took it like a hero (possibly his best moment), wonder how Sezer will react?

I've seen very little this week, but did see his "oh, I am so sad... I will miss Imogen so much if I go this week.... we would walk barefoot in the garden.. Oh how can this still happen? oh how, viewers?" diary entry.

Actually, I'd like him to stay for similar reasons for keeping Nikki in. Sometimes he's right and fair, other times he's scabby/sleazy and orrible. But that's not going to happen.

In other news: Imogen, geek chic, posters now available at Cafepress (this is degoogled now, right?)

From brandrepublic.com

LONDON – Nestle KitKat's 'Big Brother' 'golden tickets' campaign has drummed up several winners so far including a Willy Wonka Veruca Salt-style victory by a woman who found her ticket after buying over 10,000 KitKats.

The brooadcaster of the show Channel 4 said that 47 tickets have been found so far, and that 18 of these have been claimed, leaving 53 waiting to be discovered in the competition, which ends today at 10.20pm.

Susan Carter, who works for a Dublin radio station, contacted the claims line and said that she had bought over 10,000 KitKat bars before finding the ticket.

The hunt for the golden ticket also spread to the internet, with 20 tickets currently on sale on eBay averaging £900 a piece and two winners -- Philip Colaco and Deborah Dakers -- having bought their tickets through the online auction site.

Other winners include Tim Slessor, a film and video editor; Adam Pattison, a home support worker, Lorraine Harlow, a mother of one from Weston-Super-Mare; Vicki Ellis, a barmaid who feels going on Big Brother would be the experience of a lifetime and Mohammed 'Nad' Butt, a self-confessed playboy who works for a celebrity and glamour model photo agency.

The Daily Star, the Daily Star Sunday, the News of the World and the Sunday Mirror have all claimed that they possess 'golden tickets'.

To date, 20 people have claimed that their tickets have been stolen, eaten by pets or were ruined in the washing machine.

The winners of the tickets will be invited to pack their bags and go to the Big Brother studios for a special live broadcast where one of the ticket holders will be chosen at random to enter the house.

Sales of KitKats are understood to have increased rapidly since the promotion began on May 18 and Nestle Customer Service has been inundated with calls from customers wanting more details about it and asking where they can buy the 'golden ticket' KitKats.

They're bound to choose somebody who's had a stab at fame before - been in a band, glamour model, etc

Rumpsy Pumpsy (Rumpie), Friday, 2 June 2006 09:09 (nineteen years ago)

Well, maybe not!

If they've been through the 'validation stage', the producers must be OK about them going in.

After all, they've had their go at 'picking', now it's time for Mr Random to have his say...

Patrick DAMN but also OTM. They really didn't waste time fucking about, did they? When I first encountered them Lauren was 15, so were the others apart from Johnny and they were still being managed by a Mackem (I did a piece on teenagers in UK bands for an American magazine and they were one group I spoke to, which might've been their first bit of press anywhere). They came down some months later for the Blur/Boos gig at Mile End in summer '95 as the guests of a few of the labels and management companies (goodbye Mackem manager) where they utterly charmed everyone, me included.

Guessing it was Sezer, Nikki felt she had something to add to this impression. She began: "So i'm Sezer, I would like to get to know you very well, I do like to treat women like shit but wot can I say, wot you see is wot you get."

Aisleyne concurred: "That's Sezer!"

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 2 June 2006 10:09 (nineteen years ago)

Can't see anything on DS forum about Aisleyne leaving? There is a thread called "Aisleyne checking herself out", but that's about her looking at herself in the mirror all the time.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Friday, 2 June 2006 10:14 (nineteen years ago)

everyone in my office is up in the proverbial arms about nikki's chat with sam, like it was totally wrong of her to say "only gay men will go for you". i dunno, though, she was blunt, but it's kind of better than richard's "she's living as a woman" shtick, cos, well, she isn't living as a woman. better to engage than not, i think. no-one else seems to talk to sam about it at all.

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Friday, 2 June 2006 10:17 (nineteen years ago)

sam didn't seem v comfortable w/ having the conversation, tho (or least w/ having the convo w/ nikki who was laughing insanely at the details of eg willy in knickers)

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 2 June 2006 10:31 (nineteen years ago)

it is true that she is a bit tackless, but sam must have been quizzed on this stuff a million times?

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Friday, 2 June 2006 10:35 (nineteen years ago)

Re: Sam/Nikki. Nikki didn't say "Only gay men will go for you" as such, rather she was pointing out to Sam that if she fancied guys, she'd have to target gay ones (unspoken agenda = teh straight ones will not be pleased when they find out about the existence of a penis in your knickers). She then simpered "you do know that, don't you" for a while in case this scenario had never crossed Sam's mind ever.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 2 June 2006 10:36 (nineteen years ago)

thing was that sam *did* look a bit "we'll see about that!".

Enrique IX: The Mediator (Enrique), Friday, 2 June 2006 10:39 (nineteen years ago)

The best odds currently available on Sezer are 1/14. BlueSq might as well close the book on him at 1/25.

I think this is the most extreme betting ob BB I've seen.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 2 June 2006 11:12 (nineteen years ago)

Glyn was having a bath earlier that was two-thirds foam, with foam also piled up high on his head. He looked like John Lennon during his bath scene in A Hard Day's Night.

Lauren Laverne on Mikey: "he's like Vernon Kay with a head injury".

David Orton (scarlet), Friday, 2 June 2006 11:17 (nineteen years ago)

I know BBLB has to be fair to all those up for eviction by giving equal time to their fans, but I think I was just shocked to find people actually like him. When his brother said, "what you see is what you get", I desperately wanted someone to point out that its not very much. What a twat.

Though I'll kind of miss loathing his existence onscreen every day.

I've done the same with Nikki. I don't know whether its because she's simmered down, or I've grown to find her very funny and less annoying, or is it just that I really hate Grace now.

Gukbe (lokar), Friday, 2 June 2006 19:00 (nineteen years ago)

that's too harsh on imogen. they are ostensibly disqualifying her for telling the others she wasn't allowed to nominate.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 2 June 2006 19:09 (nineteen years ago)

No, they're disqualifying her for telling Richard she wasn't going to nominate him. And now she's just had a stupid similar conversation with Sezer. The girl has the mental dexterity of a tulip.

Lara (Lara), Friday, 2 June 2006 19:11 (nineteen years ago)

Surely telling Sezer she's been disqualified again is another rule-break. Is she trying to get evicted?!

Cracks (Crackity), Friday, 2 June 2006 19:13 (nineteen years ago)

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Friday, 2 June 2006 19:31 (nineteen years ago)

And now its 8 Out Of 10 Cats. David Walliams is such a hilariously funny man.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 2 June 2006 19:32 (nineteen years ago)

David Walliams AND Jimmy Carr on one show? It's some kind of zany comedy explosion!

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Friday, 2 June 2006 19:33 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not sure what was funnier, the look on Sezer's face as his name was read out or the look in Grace's eyes as it suddenly dawned on her "we're fucked, they hate us, I backed the wrong side". It pretty much mirrored Craig's reaction when Maxwell left.

I thought Lea was going to molest him there and then though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 2 June 2006 19:33 (nineteen years ago)

But, as a person, he's a dull and shallow gonk. He dresses like someone who has a stylist trying to make him look like an indie-mod (I hate to use the word "hipster" but I feel it fits here). And, c'mon, he has Chantelle as a "soulmate". he's a cock.

Back on topic, I am finally now watching BBBM. Russell is flashing his nipples. Is Bonner dressed as a ghetto ho in some sort of homage to Sezer's opinions?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 2 June 2006 22:13 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not a fan or anything, I just think he seems like a decent chap and he usually looks good. Seems too bright to have that dippy bint as a soulmate though, fair enough.

Why are we slagging off Preston in a world where Sezer exists?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 2 June 2006 22:14 (nineteen years ago)

It was quite revealing in the interview how much he squirmed at the 'slezer' clips. It's not likely to change him but it'll make him think. I don't think he's a bad person, he just has a massive veneer of bravado and chauvinism.

Cracks (Crackity), Friday, 2 June 2006 22:21 (nineteen years ago)

Er, there were loads of "I miss Richard already" type texts on BBBM earlier. WTF?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 2 June 2006 22:22 (nineteen years ago)

Anyway, to go to bed on topic, I still don't want anyone that isn't Pete, Glyn or Lea to win yet.

Nikki doing the Klingon task thing was adorable! I want a Youtube clip of that right now! I giggled at the subtitling of Sam's bit too, 'bum... my bum... sick.' Apart from that though, Sam makes for RUBBISH tv. She's too self-conscious and nervous, completely unable to laugh at herself - like a severely-toned down Shahbaz. This BB is shitting all over Scotland. Actually, Federico was a turd of a person, I had some serious dislike for Sandy and I can't remember any others - have we had *any* good BB Scots?

Crazy how Nikki has chummied up to Grace now - those two and Lisa bad-mouthing the new girls were the archetypal snidey schoolgirl gang and if it carries on I can see me turning against her. Go back to your mummy and daddy, Nikki! She needs to keep wandering about on her own, pronouncing her words over-precisely, pulling Wallace & Grommit faces and being utterly bewildered by 90% of what goes on.

What was that bit of cod-psychology I once heard, something like you judge a group by how they treat the 'baby' (ie. Jade in previous years - I HATED the way Kate let her get raging drunk and strip naked). When Grace laid into Nikki over the salmon I hated her, and now they're chums I don't mind Grace *as much*. But hopefully that'll change soon.

Best thing to happen next would be Mikey pulling Imogen. It'd demolish Sezer's already-wrecked ego and show that group up to be the total shits that they are.

It was nice seeing how happy Lea was that the public voted for her to stay in. I remember seeing her on the Jeremy Kyle Show about a year ago and she seemed like such a nob, but she's a nice motherly influence in here. The producers haven't really made anything of her porniness have they, although people like Sezer kept saying how shocking she was.

What was tonight's big comedy Glyn moment? I can't remember now but there's always one gem from him.

Charlie Brooker:

"Speaking of horrendous affronts to humanity, perhaps it's a bit early in our collective timeline to make rash statements like this, but I strongly suspect future scholars may judge Sezer from Big Brother (daily, C4) to be the single most objectionable man in the history of civilisation.

At least, that's how it feels to me right now. I know it's a passing illusion. Ten minutes after he leaves, my pulse will slow and I'll feel nothing. But while he's in there... Jesus. It's not healthy, hating someone that much. My heart's turned to carbon. Whenever he appears onscreen, I twist in my seat, agonised. And I've started hallucinating rat ears, poking out the top of his tosser's hairdo. He's not even human any more.

The BB house works as a kind of twat amplifier, you see. Once harnessed within, someone who in normal life would merely strike me as a bit of a git quickly swells in negative stature, eventually coming to symbolise everything I hate about our cruel and godless universe.

Last year it took Maxwell three weeks to reach the pitch required for optimum hatred. Sezer managed it in nine days.

And you know who's close behind? Grace. Bug-eyed bloody Grace: the sanctimonious, hoity-toity, stick-thin, Michelle Fowler-faced, I-Know-Everything, plummy, bummy passive-aggressive Sloane whose blithe faith in her own even-handed worthiness is an absolute gut-churning bollock to behold. Ugh. Hate her too.

Actually, they're all leaving a sour taste all the way from the throat to the backside this year (apart from, say, Glyn, who doesn't count - he's merely a hair in the lens). Once again, I'm writing this on Tuesday morning, so who knows - maybe the new housemates will turn out to be lovely. But so far? It's a big bunch of tossers without exception. Apart from Glyn.

And Pete, obviously. Pete doesn't really count as a housemate either. He's far too agreeable, like someone who's accidentally wandered in from another show. It's the BB twat-magnifier working in reverse, I think; making him seem almost saintly. In the real world, he's the sort of person who'd suddenly spring from nowhere to completely do your head in at a gig - offering you a go on his whistle and asking disjointed questions at breakneck speed.

But his main drawback is... well, he's just a bit too nice. Come on Pete. You're a decent guy. Hoof Sezer in the nuts. For us. Just once. You can do it. Please. You can."

i sold Big Brother 5 contestant stuart a £19.99 bottle of champagne today. he was going to drink it whilst queuing for the coach to the ball. i said that £20 was a lot to spend on something to drink whilst queuing. i didn't know who he was till someone told me. apparently he; "often buys things to eat".

pscott (elwisty), Friday, 2 June 2006 23:01 (nineteen years ago)

And I once saw the same contestant in the Leeds branch of The Elbow Room. He was sharing a pitcher of teh lager with friends.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 2 June 2006 23:10 (nineteen years ago)

eating AND drinking...

hmmm...

pscott (elwisty), Friday, 2 June 2006 23:12 (nineteen years ago)

If only a third party had evidence of him BREATHING.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 2 June 2006 23:14 (nineteen years ago)

Nikki seems to be acting upset that Sezer is gone. She and Grace are getting on very well now, but I can't decide whether that is because Grace is trying to buttress the group or if she genuinely likes her. I suspect the former.

Nikki also just told Mike, who was talking with Imogen about the shock fo Sezer getting evicted, that he sounds like he's announcing a horse race when he speaks. Fantastic. What a boring guy.

Gukbe (lokar), Friday, 2 June 2006 23:21 (nineteen years ago)

ashlynne was acting pretty horribly/magnificently when sezer got evicted. i reckin sezer's removal could have a lifting effect on the whole house, even on his mates.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 2 June 2006 23:27 (nineteen years ago)

They're still bitching about him leaving. Grace just said that none of the others would vote for their own, they would all attack the group. Mind, this is Mikey, Imogen, Grace, and Nikki together. Grace says that they won't nominate Mikey, because everyone likes them, its "us lot", motioning to her and Imogen. Only then does she turn to Nikki and and include her in "us lot". When the hell did Nikki fully become part of their lot? I think its a sneaky, inclusion trick. Earlier, they were talking about the time they all saw Nikki's nether regions to her, in that embarassing-but-we-accept-you-now way that the 'cool kids' in school always tend to do.

Gukbe (lokar), Friday, 2 June 2006 23:34 (nineteen years ago)

I actually think that the Nikki/Grace issue was made to seem a _lot_ worse with editing. Remember Nikki nominated Lea first, not Grace. Plus, as someone said upthread, they already know each other from elsewhere, I think they have a kinda Rick James/Charlie Murphy relationship with each other.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 2 June 2006 23:36 (nineteen years ago)

Well, yeah, possibly. But I'm just watching this all live, and I'm noticing how quickly Grace is making sure Nikki seems 'one of them', when before it was all about getting cuddles from Richard or really just floating about. Or especially Grace's 'I don't look down on Nikki" when she told Mikey and that lot that she does (essentially). Perhaps the move has been more gradual than I've thought, but it has happened. It just seems disgustingly obvious what Grace is doing now, especially as they're talking about losing George and Sezer in one week.

thread three - the kit-kat shuffle?

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 3 June 2006 00:26 (nineteen years ago)

Is it too late to use amniosity in a thread title somewhere?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 3 June 2006 06:24 (nineteen years ago)

Big Brother (UK 2006) - We really should have used a Sezer-based pun in a title earlier: thread three.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 3 June 2006 09:01 (nineteen years ago)

a kinda Rick James/Charlie Murphy relationship

haha!
