mark grout (mark grout), Sunday, 13 August 2006 10:37 (nineteen years ago)

She's drifted out in the betting:

Pete 1 - 6
Glyn 7 - 1
Nikki 7 - 1
Aisleyne 9 - 1
Jenny 40 - 1
Richard 50 - 1
Any Other (Not listed above) 200 - 1

Onimo (GerryNemo), Sunday, 13 August 2006 10:42 (nineteen years ago)

That's Paddy Power btw, William Hill puts Aisleyne 3rd:

Pete 1/6
Glyn 7/1
Aisleyne 8/1
Nikki 16/1
Jennie 40/1
Richard 66/1

Onimo (GerryNemo), Sunday, 13 August 2006 10:45 (nineteen years ago)

now all we need is for pete's votes to drift. i'd love it if he lost.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 13 August 2006 11:00 (nineteen years ago)

Kenzie was that far ahead when Bez won Celebrity Big Brother - you have to remember Pete has been very, very short since the very beginning. It's possible that so much money went on him early on that the bookies still can't properly lengthen his odds in a meaningful way. DS assembling behind Aisleyne.

Is there a Sparklit poll running?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Sunday, 13 August 2006 11:11 (nineteen years ago)

Haven't been able to stomach watching it since Nikki went back in, did I miss anything good or is it all the Nikki+Pete show now?

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 03:30 (nineteen years ago)

It's limited to 'fair coverage' at least.

Ooh, look!

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 06:25 (nineteen years ago)

After taking the adive of someone from the thread on Nu-ILX I have put a tenner on Ash to win, and that poll gives me hope.

Merrini (Mezza), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 07:38 (nineteen years ago)

i stopped watching after nikki moved back in. might watch the last night and am kinda missing dermot but...

Koogy Yonderboy (koogs), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 07:43 (nineteen years ago)

I'd like to see this

1. Aisleyene
2. Hildegard
3. Pete
4. Glyn
5. Jenny
6. Richard
7. a small ant, found crawling across the formica
8. Nikki

I guess its too easy to predict, though?

1. Pete
2. Nikki
3. Glyn
4. Aisleyene
5. Richard
6. Jenny

With the ant getting its own mini-series on Living TV, alongside Chantelle woreverhernamewas and Claire Sweeney.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 08:04 (nineteen years ago)

Except it's quite wrong. My guess...

1. Pete
2. Aisleyene
3. Glyn
4. Richard
5. Nikki
6. Jenny

Poor Jenny. She looked very cute asleep last night, once more.

At one point, she must have shouted something potentially libellous while asleep, as the sound reverted to the 'summer day, birds singing' track.

Oh, and no, I 'watched' for 5 mins as couldn't sleep at 03:00 so watched the "Return of the Goodies" i'd DVDrecorded earlier.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 08:07 (nineteen years ago)

Well, I prefer your results. I watched it this morning for the first time in ages. What is this "tape" Aisleyene was burbling on about?

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 08:15 (nineteen years ago)

"poor jenny" has been a bit of an arse the past few days - blaming aisleyne for making her look stupid for saying she faniced pete. i'm not surprised she's started to go a bit para having been so uncerimoniously dumped by pete who has barely spoken to jenny since nikki came back into the house. i can only imagine that anyone who still wants pete to win hasn't actually watched BB in the last few days. the man's a cunt & his silliness is grating & woefully unfunny.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 08:23 (nineteen years ago)

i haven't watched it since grace, nikki et al went back into the second house. i don't intend to bother with it now until the final (and even then, i'll be at work).

on the whole, it really has been absolute shit this year. barely an attempt at creating a watchable programme; instead just a tedious lot of soi-disant "personalities" shouting and bitching. sure, there have been a handful of interesting or comical moments in there, but for me the key problem is that i'm just not interested in any of them. even glyn, who's apparently undergone this magical journey to adulthood bollocks, has merely gone from being a curly-haired welsh lad who couldn't cook an egg to a short-haired welsh lad who thinks he's going to be god's gift because fucking mikey has shared some pulling tips.

i don't know what i want from big brother - interesting tasks, exploration of the group dynamic, mind games etc - but i do know this one has ended up boring me shitless. if subsequent outings are going to follow the same pattern, i'm giving up on it. too many wacky wankers, not enough good TV.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 08:42 (nineteen years ago)

(from Digital Spy):

Jennie continued, talking of Aislyene's insinuations that she fancied Pete: "If she's jeopardised my relationship, I'll go fuckin' psycho."

"If my boyfriend's not there for my leaving night because of stupid words..."

Um, I think Jenny has probably done enough jeopardising on her own without any help from Aisleyne...

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 08:47 (nineteen years ago)

i just think endemol have overdone it this year, trying too hard to create what *they* think the viewers want.
nikki going back in = last straw for me

A better programme would have just concentrated on the existing housemates and dealing with them in an intelligent entertaining way.

It was all quite watchable until the six new housemates arrived.

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 08:52 (nineteen years ago)

I think they've really pushed the new people=constant novelty factor thing as far as it can go. Less people would be a GOOD THING next year, although its always nice when someone leaves randomly in the first week.

Perhaps they'll just have two houses next year.. combining halfway through with half of each making the cut. That might work.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 09:49 (nineteen years ago)

Or maybe they won't.

Perhaps, if they just put everyone inside a giant egg. Whoever eats the others and gets the strength to peck through the shell emerges victorious! That'd be a GRATE show.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 09:53 (nineteen years ago)

does definately need a bit of a shake up
maybe some subtle characters might be an improvement too

secondhandnews (secondhandnews), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:11 (nineteen years ago)

it's such a shame that nikki has returned, because i think the show was actually quite fun, for a while, without her. moments like the prison task, automated big brother and susie getting locked in the diary room, and the general lack of backstabby bitchiness were actually a pleasure to watch. now she's back, its a one woman show, and the bitchiness has returned - nikki's constant, disingenuous attempts to goad ashleyne. richard has become utterly repellent.

i am not a nugget (stevie), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:15 (nineteen years ago)

Big Brother works best when it's a series of "episodes". Like last year: first we had the Mary-larity. Then it was the fat one that got raped versus the skinny annoying model one. Then it was Maxkia taking over the world. Then it was Science destroying Maxkia. Then it was the madness of Queen Makosi. Then it was Science versus Derek. Then it was Kinga shoving a bottle in her cunny. Then it was Craig's creepiness for the final few weeks.

That's what a TV show is. Not "Nikki screaming in week 2 was good, let's bring it back again for weeks 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10"

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:16 (nineteen years ago)

heheheh. i've not been watching it because what stevie describes there is exactly what i imagined would happen. the woman is a total fucking tit, and i cannot understand the GBP's apparent love for her. that said: am i right in thinking it's waning a bit now?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:18 (nineteen years ago)

I agree with both of you - but do you think the wider viewing public does? People seemed to be keen to watch more of the same. I really wish there had been someone more interesting to pitch her against. I'd almost have voted Sezer back in.

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:23 (nineteen years ago)

Well, in the situation where all the exhousemates were up for 'reappraisal', who else could it have been?

1) Bonnie, for being booted too early?
2) the dude that Aisleyne didn't pick, who was way too nice?
3) actually, that's it.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:26 (nineteen years ago)

That is it, really. Bonnie would have been GREAT. I'm sure there are many, many fascinating things about her that we never got to know.

When do we get to vote Makosi back in?

hobart paving (hobart paving), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:27 (nineteen years ago)

do you think the wider viewing public does? People seemed to be keen to watch more of the same.

i'm personally at a loss. my girlfriend's housemate watched it with us last night, and she thinks nikki is hilarious, a real character, so maybe. i *do suspect that the Great British Public didn't quite know what it wanted, and perhaps voted Nikki back in out of some pavlovian obeyance of the Heat magazine narrative - that star-crossed lovers Pete and Nikki must be reunited.

even tho she is utterly, utterly hateful, i would've liked to have seen Grace go back in, even if the end result was just finally receiving her just desserts - ie, living in a house which, glynn apart, severely disapproved of how she behaved in there. without her greek chorus of lisa, imogen, mikey and nikki, she would've been a different proposition. mostly, though, i wish they'd just left it.

i am not a nugget (stevie), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:32 (nineteen years ago)

how can anyone defend nikki anymore?

she was fucking vile and repellent last night from start to finish. horrible bitching and mocking about aisleyne and cackling with richard (who is a smiling nasty piece of work) and then those massive tantrums just because she doesn't get her own ways. when alba said early on she was interesting cos he couldn't figure out what made her tick, I sort of agreed, but now I think it's less complex, she's just horrible selfish brat!

grace was never as bad as nikki.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:34 (nineteen years ago)

xpost Well, she got her 21 minutes which panned out much as you just described. Aisleyne confronted her in a reasonableish manner, Glyn hugged her a lot, and Grace bemoaned that Ais had 'ruined her birthday'. Which is a meme in the making, surely.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:36 (nineteen years ago)

richard is a fag forever searching for his hag - i think he found her in nikki.

xpost Well, she got her 21 minutes which panned out much as you just described. Aisleyne confronted her in a reasonableish manner, Glyn hugged her a lot, and Grace bemoaned that Ais had 'ruined her birthday'. Which is a meme in the making, surely.

i missed this whole grace's birthday thing - can anyone link to a precis?

i am not a nugget (stevie), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 10:38 (nineteen years ago)

Umm, that is one?

Anyhow, .....

"Would a housemate come to the Diary Room," came the call as the housemates lounged in bed. Nothing abnormal there, except that the words were spoken in Glyn's native tongue... kind of melodic and phlegmy.

If any of the housemates were confused, they would have worked it out soon enough when Glyn yelped in excitement and sprung from his bed like a blonde-haired frog.

Story continues below

He then sprinted as fast as he could to the Diary Room, as if he was worried he might miss out on the best thing ever. When he emerged a few seconds later, the warm glow on his face suggested he hadn't been disappointed.

"It's a Welsh Big Brother!" he beamed.

"Aww, little Glyn, has that made your day?" asked Nikki.

"Yes!" he replied emphatically.

"Do you reckon he's Welsh or he just learned Welsh?" asked Aisleyne.

"No, he's Welsh," said Glyn proudly.

Pete was a bit jealous though, quipping: "I want a BB with Tourette's... and a we need a gay one for Richard."

"They've already got many of those in there Pete," Dickie assured him.

Oh really..?

Just struck me, how few stories I've reposted here from the main BB site. Last year, loads. This year, few. Certainly less 'highlights'. But maybe, like the question "Which is the best half man half biscuit track', the answer is "whichever one you are watching/listening to at the time"

xpost re: nikki
yesterday when she just thru her self at the floor in a strop i really began to wonder whether she was just a spoiled brat or there really is something a bit more seriously wrong with her

secondhandnews (secondhandnews), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 11:10 (nineteen years ago)

i missed this whole grace's birthday thing - can anyone link to a precis?

Not without digging down into DS, but to summarise:

Aisleyne had been saying for a while that she wasn't happy with about Suzie and Grace and the water and that she would love to "dash her with water" in the same way.
Grace, aware of this from being outside, spent a lot of time in the house next door talking about how she was going to have it out with Aisleyne.
Grace is put into the main house for 21 minutes to celebrate her 21st birthday.
She enters the house and pretty much ignores everyone except Glyn.
Aisleyne spends about 10 minutes deliberating whether to talk to Grace about the Suzie incident, for fear it will ruin her birthday treat.
Aisleyne finally talks to Grace about it, it goes something like this:
A - "So, have you apologised to Suzie yet?"
G - "No, I didn't need to, there's a lot you have to find out about her. People have shaken my hand and told me I did the right thing."
A - "Don't you think that's rude?"
G - "No, because she's a strippe... anyway, it's my birthday!"
Jennie then appears and says "I don't think you noticed me when you came in, but I did say hello, I'm Jennie by the way."
Grace ignores her again to talk to Glyn and is eventually called back to the house next door.
Grace then tells everyone next door how she put Aisleyne in her place, and she was so scared of Grace she had to get Jennie over to back her up. She then ponders on why exactly Aisleyne is attached to Suzie, concluding that "it must be that it's the closest thing she has to a mother, since her own abandoned her" and laughing about it for about 5 minutes.
Since re-entering the main house, Richard was told what actually happened by Jennie and Aisleyne but prefers to believe Grace.
Davina asked Grace about what happened to all her boasting about how she was going to have it out with Aisleyne, to which she replied "Well I was only going to tell her she's a moose, and there's plenty of time to do that."

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 11:20 (nineteen years ago)

Incidentally, the most WTF thing about this series (which I missed at the time but Richard and Glyn discussed last night) was Glyn having a posh wank in the shower then giving the used johnny to Big Brother in the diary room "as a present".

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 11:27 (nineteen years ago)

Surprised nobody's yet mentioned that Pete-Richard discussion at the end of last night's highlights programme. Pete: "if I don't win, then I'll feel that none of the rest of my dream is true either, so there must be no heaven".

OK I'm paraphrasing, not to say distorting slightly, but talk about upping the ante: 'Vote Pete or you condemn me to hell'.

zebedee (zebedee), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 11:43 (nineteen years ago)

fuck off and he did that, seriously?

(xp)

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 11:44 (nineteen years ago)

I think this series has been just as episodic as the last one. It did jump the shark with the return of the old housemates though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 12:12 (nineteen years ago)

I prefer the wacky/attention seeking contestants myself, even Nikki for the 2 weeks when her tantrums were still funny, it's all the stupid twists and contrivances that are making it worse for me. And I wish Endemol would spot the tiny flaw in using the "they are living/using the secret house/luxury garden next door - which the other housemates don't even know wxists!!!" twist 3 or 4 times in the same series. The housemates are probably constantly wondering what's going on in the other bit of the house everytime none of them seem to be in it.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 13:32 (nineteen years ago)

Aisleyne has managed to suss out each time!

Most recent, on entering the jail "OK, where's the secret luxury room?"

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 13:35 (nineteen years ago)

Big Brother works best when it's a series of "episodes". Like last year: first we had the Mary-larity. Then it was the fat one that got raped versus the skinny annoying model one.

Jesus, Dom. Lesley is still possibly my least favourite person ever to appear on Big Brother, but that's a pretty vile way to refer to anyone.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 13:52 (nineteen years ago)

Dom, that's just bizarre. this year's BB was bad but last year's was diabolical. there wasn't one likeable character in the house. the only watchable thing from the entire series was craig stalking anthony.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 16:07 (nineteen years ago)

also while i've gone right off nikki i'll still take her over almost anyone in the house. she's was probably told by ch4 how to act when she went back in - i.e. look at these tapes of you going mental and turn that up to 11. while she was in the house and right up to her eviction interview she was undoubtedly the best contestant in BB history.

it was really weird last night when she did that thing of throwing herself backwards, crablike, onto the floor. it was like the deleted spider walk scene from The Excorcist.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

or the deleted spiderwalk scene from Alien

honestly, she's just self obsessed and mean spirited, the fact she masks this by acting like a child isn't any excuse. horrible.

i am teh_kit! (g-kit), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 17:57 (nineteen years ago)

Somewhere in between.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

Emma is still the worst contestant ever.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

she's second best.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 18:42 (nineteen years ago)

Aislene cannot win, she's as teeth-grindingly unwatchable as Vanessa BB6 and has the same air of schmuck-who-got-lucky-for-too-long. If she wins, we have a new contender for crappest BB winner, bye bye Cameron.

I'm putting all my hope into Glyn winning, he's not someone I'd like in real life but that's not the point. If I were going to place a bet on the winner of BB, which would be the best and most user-friendly website to use?

What was the 'legal issue' preventing Bonnie from going back in?

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 18:59 (nineteen years ago)

She didn't pay for a pizza she ordered.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 19:00 (nineteen years ago)

OK - Let's look at this thing logically, whilst accepting our own biases (delete/insert your own prejudices in here):

1) Richard - Smarmy, conniving C-sucker, who has some plus moments (obviously the letter from his sister)and a list of down moments (not least of which was his reaction in the HND to Grace and Aisleyne; plus his 'I-am-so-wonnderful-I-bought-Nikki-and-Pete together' schtick that he has been playing for at least the last 4 days). His 'I'm everybody's friend' whilst being no-one's has worn thin pretty quickly. Has to be out either first or second on Friday.

2) Jennie - It's difficult to see any bad points in Jennie. Her Spiral moment may be seen as a failing but, personally, I see it as a plus. Her attitude to Pete/Nikki does her credit, only slightly let down by her illogical anti Aisleyne stance in the last day or so. If she had been around from the beginning, I seriously think she could have been a contender.

3) Nikki - What can I say? The best BB contestant ever until she was put back in the HND (Sorry, g-kit,; as much as I do value your opinion, you are/were wrong...at least until last Friday!) And now...a twisted parody of herself, to the extent where we don't even know if she is real anymore.

4) Glyn - For the first 75 days or so, he was up there in the running for winner. But his naif schtick has given way to an insular, twisted, nerd who I would shout down in public if I ever had to argue with him.

5) Pete - A genuinely nice guy, who's lack of confrontational abilities have counted against him in the last 2 or 3 weeks. His attitude to Jennie (have we all forgotten that wonderful 'animal' conversation they had, where Jennie skirted around the issue by using a rather lovely metaphor?) has been awful - she doesn't deserve the cold shoulder. The Nikki thing is lovely from his point of view, but he has been tainted by the 'false' Nikki premise since she re-entered the house.

6) Aisleyne - A great BB contestant, whose major failing has been to let BB's machinations get the better of her. She hasn't been the same person since the HND episode, but has slowly reasserted herself in the last couple of weeks, culminating in the 'let's tie Glyn up in knots' argument over Grace's supposed divinity. Her ability to empathise and constructively bolster her fellow contestants has been brilliant in the last few days (witness her Glyn in the bath conversation and her Pete conversation where she dragged him from the depths of despair into a much more confident frame of mind)

So.. Pete will win (which won't bother me too much) and I hope and pray that Aisleyne is at least second. In a perfect world, Jennie would be third, but it ain't gonna happen cos Glyn wil be there instead. Nikki will be fourth, Richard fifth and Jennie sixth.

And Jennie should count herself seriously unlucky, whilst Nikki counts herself seriously lucky to be heading off into the sunset with her own series...

Guilty Boksen (Bro_Danielson), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 19:39 (nineteen years ago)

I realised today, while I was doing the washing up, what my ideal BB7 ending would be. Pete wins. But then during his eviction interview he admits that he didn't really see a vision in which his dead friend told him he'd win. In fact, he never even had a dead friend. He doesn't believe in heaven either. He just said all that stuff because he thought it'd win him some sympathy votes.

And then, amid the gasps and squeals, he stands up and shouts "AND GUESS WHAT? I DON'T REALLY HAVE TOURETTES EITHER! YOU WANKERS!".

That's the only thing that could make me happy, at this point.

The D.Star this morning has an 'insider' reckoning that they are 'fixing' against Ais in preference to Nikki, as they signed her up for her new show and need the boost that a 'second or first' place would give it.

Mind you, I reckon 1) they made it up 2) they've all put big bets on Ais 2 weeks ago when the odds were nice and ABUSIG THEIR POWER!!! (they do this most years but usually fail: JTickle, EuGene, etc..)

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 17 August 2006 07:21 (nineteen years ago)

It'll be interesting to see how they spin last night's events in the highlights show tonight. A summary from DS:

Each housemate was assigned to give a speech on another housemate on why they should win.

Aisleyne had Pete and said this:

http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother/...=1&housemateId=

"He's brought laughter, fun and music to the House, and respect for nature and creepy crawly things"

Then Pete got upset and started crying in the garden because he believed her speech wasn't as good as the others.Nikki,Richard and Pete went on a bitchfeast about Aisleyne saying she didn't want to compliment Pete and that's why she gave a rubbish speech.Glyn and Jennie agreed saying she was out of order. Then they started ignoring her and being cold because they thought she was out of order.Aisleyne started crying in the bathroom and started apoligising saying it was a mistake and she gets nervous in front of people.Meanwhile Pete was praying to God in the garden saying she's blown his chances..

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 17 August 2006 07:26 (nineteen years ago)

Aisleyne in "bigger than god" shockah!

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 17 August 2006 07:40 (nineteen years ago)

If the official site is anything to go by they're going to present it as it is, even if it is anti-Pete:

http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother/news/newsstory.jsp?id=2968&articleMask=1

"After all I've been through and done I'd like to have got at least a nice speech... I don't think it gave much of a message to the outside. I'm a bit worried about Friday now."

http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother/news/newsstory.jsp?id=2967&articleMask=1

But there was a distinctly frosty distance between the pair, with Aisleyne now sat inside the House and Pete peering in from the garden door.

Frantic apologies from the promo girl followed, despite Pete constantly insisting he's fine.

Then, out of nowhere, Aisleyne delivered a passionate, off the cuff speech that overshadowed her earlier effort:

"I just want you to feel better. I want you to realise that [the speech] is not a representation of me thinking 'I don't really think much of him, I don't think he should win' or anything like that. I am so c*** at putting things like that into words, especially in front of people."

"Who cares about my opinion anyway? It's about the last 13 weeks and how amazing you've been, how funny you've been, how entertaining you've been, everything you've achieved... finding your old self again, finding Nikki, sorting your mum out... all those amazing things are what matter. Not a three minute speech."

i hate aisleyne and pete equally so this is roffles all round.

this totally vindicates the anti-pete fraction.

Bashment Jakes (Enrique), Thursday, 17 August 2006 07:47 (nineteen years ago)

Nikki then gave her bloke a quick rundown of how public life might be for the Brighton lad.

"You'll have to stop and sign autographs for people. I'm talking everywhere," she warned.

But Pete suggested putting his pen to a different use. "I will just draw pictures," he explained. "If someone comes up to me and says 'gimme your autograph', I'll say 'sit down' and draw a picture of them."

An imaginary lightbulb suddenly appeared over Nikki's head, prompting her to momentarily stop gazing at herself in the mirror to give Pete a look of adoration.

"Can you do a portrait of me?" she enquired.

See, she has moments of humanity, but rather than say "don't say that, you'll get everyone stopping you now!" ...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:06 (nineteen years ago)

It's Nikki that's dragging Pete down, I think. Also she KNOWS he's by far the favourite to win and I'm wondering whether she's managed to communicate that to him, if not verbally than through her body language or something.

I don't particularly like Aisleyne but considering she's been bullied to fuck in there I really hope she beats Nikki.

Yes, but this one had one big highlight for me: (paraphrased)

Pete: You know everything about me from the outside, don't you? That I'm a manky old perv...
Nikki: I don't care

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:33 (nineteen years ago)

Pete and Nikki!

i am teh_kit! (g-kit), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:47 (nineteen years ago)

the whole nikki thing is absurd now but the prog was even more of a trainwreck before they let her in. jennie in the last week, for example -- ridiculous.

why was aisleyne so upset by seeing her saying 'if you cross me i will fuck you up'? that's what she's like.

Bashment Jakes (Enrique), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:48 (nineteen years ago)

because people like that don't get to become the next Chantelle (i.e. compliant, do anything for fame, E4 puppy)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:51 (nineteen years ago)

hmm. i still think pete's a fundamentally decent guy; that a lot of what's perceived as dealing with people/situations badly is down to basic naivety (as opposed, for example, to nikki's little-girl act, which is horribly knowing). BUT i fear he's starting to believe his hype a bit here. i mean, with all the comings and goings in the house, there's no way these people don't have some idea of how they're being perceived outside. pete's letter from his mum would have given him something of a clue; but all it needs is for nikki to say something like "everybody loves you" and, well, suddenly he's got a whole new take on his own actions within the house, which he can't change.

i suppose what i'm saying is that i still want pete to win, and i'm prepared to write off all this nonsense as last-week temporary insanity. i guess the most interesting thing will be watching him in the outside world: seeing if he stays true to his brighton skedge-punk roots or becomes a throbbing fame-hungry bell-end. if the latter, his stock will plummet faster than shahbaz's self-esteem.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:51 (nineteen years ago)

i am teh_kit! (g-kit), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:54 (nineteen years ago)

pete's letter from his mum would have given him something of a clue

Surely not, after all the official reason for Dawn being sacked was that she received a message from the outside that contained information about the outside from which she could interpret her popularity.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:55 (nineteen years ago)

I think Jennie is the only one I'd rather win than Aisleyne, although that's basically because of her drunken 'animals' speech. The others are cunts.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:57 (nineteen years ago)

Pete's letter:

Am I the only one who has considered the possibility that it was a pre-arranged 'booster' for his voting chances? "I'm so proud, and Dad is back" and so on?

It would explain Pete's anger at not receiving it at first.

(xpost but the letters would have been checked for overt signs of that. Covert ones you can't really. "Dad is back" = you're winning. "Dad is nearly back" = you're doing well. "Dad's off to cleethorpes" = you are sezer.)

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:58 (nineteen years ago)

Plus, Dawn did say "I've had a secret message, don't let on..."

What was the drunken animals speech? I've been away you know..

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 17 August 2006 08:59 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, but Dawn's message was "Your sister isn't well." (Admittedly, she did shoot herself in the foot by confessing to the other housemates) The offence was arranging a code and then receiving it, which is what we now all seem to be comfortable is what happened to Pete.

The animals thing was when Jennie was drunk and started telling Pete she had a secret. He wouldn't let go wanting to know what it was (she kept on saying she'd tell it outside) and despite apparently realising it was that she fancied him actually wanted her to say it out loud (which is an odd thing, particularly since he was allegedly "in love" with Nikki at the time). She then wandered off into this twee speech about what animals would do if we told them that we loved them - "They'd probably just want us to cuddle them more. Yes. So that's what I'll do."

It was adorable.

Win Only,Singles Only
Pete 1 - 5
Aisleyne 3 - 1
Glyn 10 - 1
Nikki 50 - 1
Richard 80 - 1
Jenny 150 - 1
Any Other 350 - 1

Looks like Aisleyne is the only housemate anyone is betting on at the moment. Pete's solid 1-5 is probably due to the mountain of cash that went on him before Nikki's return. Everyone else is drifting, not looking good for Hildegard :(

I wish Jennie could win it but she can't so it'll have to be Arselyne, to really fuck up Nikki+Grace et al. Pete with Nikki is so repulsive I can't bring myself to watch even so much as a nanosecond of it plus he is totally unfunny, which wouldn't normally bother me except he genuinely thinks he's funny. I hope I never have to see Richard or listen to his insincere dronings again for the rest of my life. I'd like to congratulate Glyn on his journey - from being a gormless brainless twattish waste-of-space in Wales to being a gormless brainless twattish waste-of-space on national television, well done boyo.

From the betfair forum, someone has just attempted to lay £7k on Pete at 1.42. That's an awful lot of money at such short odds.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 17 August 2006 11:48 (nineteen years ago)

Richard just tried to stir it up between Pete and Aisleyne on the live feed, by bringing up her speech again.

What an ego.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 17 August 2006 13:16 (nineteen years ago)

i don't understand - what's the issue with the speech? reading it on here, it doesn't seem mean or anything.

i only saw this part though: "He's brought laughter, fun and music to the House, and respect for nature and creepy crawly things"

is there more to it than that?

Dadaismus (a rattly old puffin who remembers ILX in the days when...) (Dada), Thursday, 17 August 2006 13:35 (nineteen years ago)

There isn't any more to it that that, my kitty friend. Pete just doesn't think Aisleyne tried or hard enough (or, more precisely, Nikki didn't and Pete agreed with her) but he (correctly) believes the final hours are the most important for voting profiles and is concerned he might not win.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 17 August 2006 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

Pete 2 - 7
Aisleyne 11 - 4
Glyn 7 - 1
Nikki 66 - 1
Richard 80 - 1
Jenny 200 - 1
Any Other (Not listed above) 350 - 1

Pete's gone from 1/5 to 2/7 in 4 hours! More money in for Aisleyne and Glyn. Am I kidding myself on or could this actually become a competition? Pete was 1/10 before Nikki came back.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 17 August 2006 14:00 (nineteen years ago)

William Hill offering even better odds for Pete. If anyone has HUGE BALLS now would be a good time to add 33% to your worth.

Pete 1/3
Aisleyne 7/2

Yes, he is being a total arse. I think he's got totally hung up on the vision thing and what with Nikki encouraging him it's all gone to la la land. How can anyone rational think that the public will be swayed by how good the speeches were?

No, he's just an arse.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 17 August 2006 20:40 (nineteen years ago)

I've always advocated a BB whose housemates consisted of people from all over the spectrum; quiet sorts, loud sorts, intelligent sorts, pseudo-intelligent sorts, but almost always they get people exclusively from the 'vapid' section. Good television it ain't and this series has been the worst of the lot (4 being by far the best).

Scourage (Haberdager), Thursday, 17 August 2006 20:44 (nineteen years ago)

Pete's behaviour not quite as bad (to my eyes) as reported on DS today, but an utter cock nonetheless.

agreed, really sad to see a) how much he wants to win, and b) how spineless he is being over how aisleyne is being treated.

of course, he's still treating her better than jennie (transposing her guilt re: her behaviour with pete onto aisleyne), richard (who only ever kicks people when they're down) and nikki (evil, evil, evil, the only thing that makes her bearable is the knowledge she'll never be happy). but really, very disappointing.

The good thing is I don't really mind who wins tomorrow, as long as it's not Richard. Not that he's been particularly offensive of late, but he's never really been very entertaining either. Jennie and Pete I kind of like (recent days notwithstanding), Glyn is funny (and I picked him in the first week so it'd be good to look smart), Nikki was once hilarious and Aisleyne just interests me.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 17 August 2006 21:07 (nineteen years ago)

After the pomp and circumstance of the awards, Jennie sat at the table, grim-faced and empty-handed. That was until she filled it with a beer.

Visibly refreshed, the 18-year-old jumped to the podium and slurred a speech of her own. "You've all got f***ing awards. My award... well, I would like to thank Nikki for this beer. As it will lift thou spirits. And brighten thy smile. On this final night, I shall not share this beer. But drink it greedily and go to hell."

Slumping back in her seat, the teenager continued her drunken rant.

Story continues below

"Well Big Brother, you have produced a cheerful evening. The most chipper evening I have ever attended. Nikki is beaming. Aisleyne looks not surprised at all. Pete, you deserved all your awards. And I deserve this award for being best male." Hmm, maybe Pete's geezer-bird campaign speech for Jennie didn't go down as well as we thought.

"If it was best sandwich making I'd f***ing win hands down. The biggest nob would also go to Jennie," she slurred.

Jennie has a highlight! On the last day!

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 18 August 2006 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

Then I cry out "There's something wrong with Humax nature!".

Alba (Alba), Friday, 18 August 2006 16:24 (nineteen years ago)

ah ok, now the pete push steps up a gear.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:06 (nineteen years ago)

Hello! Who's with me for the final then?

Red wine: check
Chinese takeaway: check
laptop in front of telly: check

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:07 (nineteen years ago)

rosé!
steak samwich!
imac!

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:14 (nineteen years ago)

the rosé is horrid but it's alcohol.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:15 (nineteen years ago)

"After the break we'll be reintroducing you to the ex-housemates!"

Davina, you did that last week. Don't sound so excited about it.

theantmustdance (theantmustdance), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:20 (nineteen years ago)

Bonner's back! So is Shazbat!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

Booing galore!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

Grace'n'Mikey, boos.

Jonathan and Jayne (Jayne burps)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:26 (nineteen years ago)

Suzie'n'Imogen (yawn)

Spoiral 'n' Michael (underwhelming response)

George 'n' Sam (crowd falls asleep)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:28 (nineteen years ago)

Lisa! With Lea, who looks lovely. Davina has just stuck her head between her boobs.

No Sleazer or Dawn, I notice.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:29 (nineteen years ago)

First out = Jennie. World is not surprised.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:31 (nineteen years ago)

Rotten eviction outfit. White shorts, black heels. Urgh.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

wtf? @ jennie's outfit.

lol

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

"Lea, who looks lovely". Forgive me, but I only watched the first week, and one of the reasons I quit was the sight of Lea's pectoral area.

Scourage (Haberdager), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

I just wanted to say you're dong a marvellous job. We're all counting on you!

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:34 (nineteen years ago)

Nah, she's gone demure(-ish). I thought she actually looked pretty. Floor-length floral dress, less haggard-looking. There really is a pretty girl under there.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

Lea's dress was lovely.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:36 (nineteen years ago)

I quite like Jennies top though, and her weave looked a lot better than normal.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

(when I said "chinese takeway: check", I meant it was ordered. It's just arrived. I might not post for a bit until I eat now)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:39 (nineteen years ago)

laptop!
beer!
cat trying to sit on me and get in the way!

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:46 (nineteen years ago)

Nikki's out :D

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:47 (nineteen years ago)

WHY ARE THEY BOOING MEEEEE

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:48 (nineteen years ago)

she's taking a whitey!

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:50 (nineteen years ago)

That was quite uncomfortable, yet TOTALLY FUCKING HILARIOUS telly.

(my chicken'n'sweetcorn soup was lovely, btw. Jennie's interview was dull as fuck)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:50 (nineteen years ago)

Having to leech wireless cos cancelled our broadband connection this week, aargh. Signal keeps cutting out.

YES! FUCK OFF NIKKI!!!

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

"sorry for any bad language you may have heard in the previous part of the show...now back to Davina for more Big Brother...you may hear strong lanuage after 9pm..."

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:54 (nineteen years ago)

wtf with the hair, did she not know she was on the telly?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:54 (nineteen years ago)

ha ha, producer in ear "for fucks sake Davs get her talking"

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:55 (nineteen years ago)

she's gone

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:56 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, dear God. I want that to be the last time I EVER see her on the telly.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:56 (nineteen years ago)

awwww poor thing (srsly) she's not well, that girl.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:57 (nineteen years ago)

Haha, cock-up on "what happens next, ads or eviction" due to Nikki.

Dickie out.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:57 (nineteen years ago)

what is more fucked up - her hair or her MIND?

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:57 (nineteen years ago)

Richard should've gone like a month ago.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:58 (nineteen years ago)

best bit of the show has been aislyne's genuine shock at not being last.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 18:58 (nineteen years ago)

Did Davina just say "he's got his hat and his glove but where's his pearl necklace?"

!!?!?!?!?!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:00 (nineteen years ago)

change the tune, gay.

xp

! i missed that.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:01 (nineteen years ago)

she should infer that he likes KISSING next.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:01 (nineteen years ago)

he going to be wearing that hat & glove combo when he's 90.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:03 (nineteen years ago)

Someone? Was that what she said? I was half-listening, having pretending to have a life outside this and trying to listen at the same time. Is my subconsciousness in overdrive?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:04 (nineteen years ago)

"he's got his hat and his glove but where's the spunk round his neck?"

IIRC he had a string on pearls wrapped round his wrist over the glove on his way in to the house.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:07 (nineteen years ago)

Yup she did say that!

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:08 (nineteen years ago)

OK. Davina has also included a "you don't look at fannies, do you" reference in her interview, so, hey, it's after the watershed kids!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:09 (nineteen years ago)

Bugger, wanted her to win.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

arse, bang goes my bet

Merrini (Mezza), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

mine too.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

DAMNDAMNDAMN

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:23 (nineteen years ago)

i wish i had the willpower to switch off now. i don't think i can watch this pete victory.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:25 (nineteen years ago)

i have to go and catch a train at 10.30 so i think i'll (luckily) miss it.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, Pete is unbearable. How much can we all afford to phone in repeatedly for Glyn over the next half an hour or so? Is it that close?

(actually, look at the career trajectory of winners past. who gives fuck? The continued success of Jade versus, say, Anthony Hutton and Nadia Almada should give you some sort of indication of how much it matters)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:29 (nineteen years ago)

tru dat.

pete is better than nadia at any rate.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:31 (nineteen years ago)

The (speechlessly boring) dude called Cameron who won series 3, I think no-one remembers him. How Victor didn't win 4, I'll never know.

Scourage (Haberdager), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:34 (nineteen years ago)

probably because he was a total cunt.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:35 (nineteen years ago)

Because he was in 5

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:36 (nineteen years ago)

that too.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:37 (nineteen years ago)

Cameron is some sort of star up here still. Same way that he beat Ray who is some sort of star in Ireland. (xpost, actually Cameron was in series 4 as well - Kate fucking waste of space Lawler won series 3)

Nadia is on 8 out of 10 Cats now. She looks good, better than in the past at any rate.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:41 (nineteen years ago)

Cameron is some sort of star up here still.

he is?????

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:42 (nineteen years ago)

crap, I've forgotten one.

1) Craig
2) Brian
3) Kate
4) Cameron
5) Nadia
6) Anthony
7) Pete (pending vote)

I forgot Brian. :(

Scourage (Haberdager), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:42 (nineteen years ago)

stirmonster, he's in the panto this year in Glasgow (he's been in the panto in Aberdeen every year since he won, so he's increasing his fame central-belt-wards). He writes a column for the Sunday Post. That's some sort of star! (the sort that my mother-in-law recognises)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:45 (nineteen years ago)

ok, i thought it was maybe restricted to way, way up north.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:46 (nineteen years ago)

About as famous, I think as Ray, who he beat, is in Ireland.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:50 (nineteen years ago)

RJG would be proud of those commas.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:55 (nineteen years ago)

I missed one out. There should have have been another one after "think". Possibly some should have been parentheses instead. Where teh fuck is grimly when you need a grammar pedant, eh?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:57 (nineteen years ago)

About as famous, I think, as Ray, who he beat, is, in Ireland.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 19:59 (nineteen years ago)

i used to be a grammar pedant, but now i can't even remember how to spel.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

why does everyone hate Pete now (i've not been watching this much you see)?

Konal Doddz (blueski), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

Xpost: U can stil be a grammer pedant even if u don't know how 2 spel; teh grammer in this sentens iz, 2 my nollidge, correct, altho teh speling definetly isn't.

Scourage (Haberdager), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:05 (nineteen years ago)

Nah, that looks wrong too. Perhaps I meant "Cameron is as famous in Scotland as Ray, who he beat, is in Ireland".

Aisleyne is being booed somewhat fiercely.

(scourage = g-kit, sort of)

Steve, he's been a complete knob this last week. Invoking God and dead friends and things, and worrying out loud about how things make him look to the outside world.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:08 (nineteen years ago)

that's very true, but i've forgotten how to do either.

x post

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:09 (nineteen years ago)

Aah fucksticks.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:19 (nineteen years ago)

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:20 (nineteen years ago)

Aw, bless Glyn. "well done"

Pete won.

Glyn is singing "here I go again" by Whitesnake. I wuv him.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:20 (nineteen years ago)

aisleyne was good.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:20 (nineteen years ago)

they'll be crying into their pints in llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:22 (nineteen years ago)

god, i LOATHE pete.

It's weird to be so welsh tho innit?

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:23 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, Aisleyne was OK. We discussed this in the pub earlier this week. General consensus was "anyone but Pete or Nikki". I still think early-Pete was excellent, one of the best contestant ever, but he fell down so badly when he realised that he was probably one of the best contestants ever.

Was it someone on here that said it would be the best thing ever if he stood up mid-victory-interview and said he didn't have Tourette's at all? Because that's all that could redeem this now.

(xpost, why? i was that scottish when I was his age - yeah, yeah, I still am, sometimes)

I'm looking forward to Glyn's interview/best bits.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:26 (nineteen years ago)

Aw, really, he should've won. I think he's a genuinely decent bloke. I'm dreading how bad Pete is going to be in comparison.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:33 (nineteen years ago)

Can we blast him him and Nikki into space somewhere please, where they can live in annoying bastard hell and leave the rest of us alone?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

Way way back, when they entered the house, I said he was like Lee Evans on crack. He's like that again now. Piss off *wanker*

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:42 (nineteen years ago)

he is the worst.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:43 (nineteen years ago)

OK, he moves the mic to his month to shout "wankers" into it. It seems quite pronounced. Is this normal? (I don't know a lot about Tourette's, does excitement exacerbate it?)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:46 (nineteen years ago)

month = mouth

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:47 (nineteen years ago)

this whole "i had to climb up a SPIRAL (do you see) to stay alive, i.e. I had to win or I'd DIE" shit = GGGAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:52 (nineteen years ago)

he's giving me hypertension.

pete must die.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

he's like a Trent Reznor lyric

Scourage (Haberdager), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

Really, worst winner ever. And I used to like him at the start, with the swimming pool antics and stuff.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

About as famous, I think, as Ray (who he beat) is in Ireland.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:07 (nineteen years ago)

About as famous, I think, as Ray (who he beat) is, in Ireland.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:10 (nineteen years ago)

I considered that

RJG (RJG), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:11 (nineteen years ago)

Fuck, I have been reprimanded for comma over-usage by RJG. My life is over.

Pete is a cock.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:12 (nineteen years ago)

(why was his cock not on his best bits? surely that it is his "best bit"?)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:12 (nineteen years ago)

i had vowed to give up ILX after BB was finished. i've already failed.

tho BBBM is still on.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:21 (nineteen years ago)

BBSM is more or less ignoring Pete, which is good.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:26 (nineteen years ago)

Also, they have Paul Morley on, which is nice.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:30 (nineteen years ago)

nice to have paul morely on.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:36 (nineteen years ago)

They should clone him, rather than have to make me listen to John McCririck (even though he did ask good questions like why teh fuck Glyn wasn't getting his end away with lots of attractive women who liked him)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 21:37 (nineteen years ago)

It was a shame, about Jennie's awful eviction outfit and hair. Still, I suppose its awfulness was kind of endearing.

Anyway, good old Big Brother. I will be sad when it stops. It's already been part of somewhere between a quarter and a fifth of my life!

Alba (Alba), Friday, 18 August 2006 23:12 (nineteen years ago)

Can we now have a brutal post-BB Russell Brand bashing session, please? The man irritates me beyond belief...

Scourage (Haberdager), Friday, 18 August 2006 23:15 (nineteen years ago)

No. We've all come round to liking him. Get a time machine back to last year when he was a twat.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 23:16 (nineteen years ago)

(hivemind alert, obv)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 18 August 2006 23:18 (nineteen years ago)

You know, I liked Pete. I'm glad he won.

I liked Glyn alright, but I do think his journey was, while amusing, for the worst.

The Ultimate Conclusion (lokar), Friday, 18 August 2006 23:27 (nineteen years ago)

I watched about two minutes all season. Through these threads and the daily Irish Mirror I have kept up with it all. I thank you all! Especially: Jed_ kit Ailsa and Grimly. All of you have been great but one must always have favorites - just ask your parents...

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Saturday, 19 August 2006 01:25 (nineteen years ago)

why, thank you!

Cameron is some sort of star up here still

on behalf of the soi-disant "greatest small country in the world", or whatever that phallus mcconnell called us, can i just point out that NO HE ISN'T?

Where teh fuck is grimly when you need a grammar pedant, eh?

i was at work, being a professional grammar pedant. (actually: when you posted that i was about to knock off my shift, going: "fuck, i wish i'd done more tonight so sunday wasn't going to suck so hard.") i then picked up a tipsy mrs fiendish from y*t*s's (srsly) and zoomed home with the radio OFF, hoping i'd be able to get home without finding out who'd won. sadly, i made the mistake of stopping to get chips; for some reason the chippie had installed a fuck-off great big telly, which was showing pete's glorious exit the second i stepped in. bugger. still, wasn't exactly a shock.

like alba, my humax has the whole sorry night stored and ready for me. we haven't watched it yet; we watched "big mouth" instead. i figure that judicious use of the fast-forward button should allow me to do the whole thing in 15 minutes.

Aw, really, he should've won. I think he's a genuinely decent bloke.

see, i'm not sure about this. he's been tainted by that jizzer mikey: his charming egg-fearing naivety has given way to the dubious notion that "pulling birds" is the noblest aspiration a young man can have. i'm not looking forward to the inevitable pictures of him and mikey (and slezer, assuming he's not otherwise detained) being laddish and leering in "heat".

Can we now have a brutal post-BB Russell Brand bashing session, please?

no. sure, he can be a bit much in large doses, but the highlights package at the end of last night's BBBM was fucking wonderful. best thing about the whole debacle, that. other than these threads.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 19 August 2006 08:08 (nineteen years ago)

other random thoughts:

- i am DELIGHTED nikki got voted out so early, and was "beaten" (for what it's worth) by richard and aisleyne. i mean, i don't like richard or aisleyne, but ... they're not nikki. actually, the whole putting-nikki-back-in thing might do wonders for society in general because i think it wrung every last second out of her 15 minutes of fame, and people have got really fucking bored with her. here's hoping, anyway.

- i'm glad pete won. yeh, he went a bit loopy at the end, but i think that's an occupational hazard when you're pete. good on him. i'm intrigued as to how he'll copy with the resulting fame etc, but ...

- when do we find out the voting margins? i want to know how close - or otherwise - the whole thing was.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 19 August 2006 08:17 (nineteen years ago)

According to DS Pete had 61.2% of the winning vote, Aisleyne had 22% at the time of her eviction and Nikki had 6.5% at the time of hers. Haven't seen any other figures.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Saturday, 19 August 2006 08:34 (nineteen years ago)

Grimly, Cameron is a "star" up here in the way that people that used to be in (Take The) High Road are. There's a demographic of women in their fifties and upwards that think he's a lovely chap. I said he was some sort of star (a very minor one), I didn't claim he was Robbie Williams.

Of course Glyn thinks "pulling birds" is the greatest thing ever. He's an 18 year old boy. It's what they do. You were one yourself once, you cantakerous old sod :-p He still seems quite decent, and I think fairly likely to slip back into his old life again.

Mrs Fiendish was right to be pissed, btw, it's the only possible option when you find yourself stuck in Y*t*s's (see my Christmas night out with work last year).

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 19 August 2006 08:53 (nineteen years ago)

From thread one about this series, when it started back in MAY! (dear God, that's like FOREVER ago)

I agree with Ailsa about Nikki. Bit chavvy but seems decent-hearted and not overly irritating.

How wrong can people be, eh?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 19 August 2006 08:59 (nineteen years ago)

i was NEVER 18, ailsa ;)

no, okay, you might have a point there. i just worry that he'll be ... i dunno, "corrupted" is the wrong word, but i fear that his nice-laddishness is going to be eroded and twisted into lad-laddishness. it's basically because i hate mikey so much, i guess.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 19 August 2006 09:02 (nineteen years ago)

Found a voting breakdown @ 8pm:

...........Actual%Votes@8pm Pre Show
Aisleyne...20.00%
Pete.......44.50%
Richard....9.10%
Nikki......6.50%
Glyn.......19.00%
Jennie.....0.90%

Quick counting on my thumbs would indicate only Glyn pretty much got voted during the shows (or got significantly more votes than eveybody else) based on those percentages.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Saturday, 19 August 2006 09:04 (nineteen years ago)

we're just watching the repeat now on C4. nikki is being evicted. wow, her hair is bad, isn't it?

i just loathe the way she tits about with that constant scowl; like the world owes her glory. "why are they booing me?" because they're the GBP and they're notoriously fickle. jesus christ, get over yourself.

mrs fiendish: "she's like an old woman." she IS, isn't she? like some crazy old crone who smells of cat wee.

countdown to her and pete going spectacularly tits-up (because, let's face it, pete isn't the kind of bloke who'll keep a relationship going just for the magazine deals) ... 10 ... 9 ... 8 ...

xpost: thanks, aldo.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 19 August 2006 09:06 (nineteen years ago)

one other observation. did davina mention sezer AT ALL? if so, i didn't hear; if not ... come on, C4, you can't just pretend he didn't exist.

even though i'd dearly like to pretend he doesn't exist.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Saturday, 19 August 2006 09:09 (nineteen years ago)

Sezer's evidtion was shown in the last look back at the series, but that was it (so was Dawn, briefly).

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Saturday, 19 August 2006 09:22 (nineteen years ago)

More wrongheadedness from the original thread:

me, three days in "Grace seems nice - I'm so used to girls on BB being hateful, it's odd to find ones that aren't."

Oh dear.

I remember you saying that, and being surprised!

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 19 August 2006 10:15 (nineteen years ago)

It was wierd seeing George again. I remember him, I just can't remember anything he said or did on Big Brother. In fact I can't imagine him being on Big Brother. Yet he was. I suppose. He must have been.
Was he?
I remember Bonnie more.

I don't mind the top three winners. Any order would've done me really.

They should've put Shabaz back in instead of Nikki.

David Orton (scarlet), Saturday, 19 August 2006 11:57 (nineteen years ago)

I was out last night, but I watched the E4+1 repeat till 4.30 AM when I got home and simultaneously polished off the beer in my fridge. I deeply regret it now.

I'm glad Pete won because a) unlike the hivemind I still think he's a nice bloke who's brain just got a bit warped by the house over the last few weeks and b) my mum now owes me a fiver - we made a bet in the first week and she thought Lisa would win, haha.

On Russel Brand: He can be very funny when he's being spontaneous, but his scripted links are often excruciating. I saw him in Camden Town Odeon once.

chap who would dare to start Raaatpackin (chap), Saturday, 19 August 2006 15:21 (nineteen years ago)

Well done everyone!

So, in conclusion, most of the HM's this year were at least sympathiseable, whereas last years were not.

This may go down as the year where they threw every idea at the house to see what sticked (stuck?), and some did, and some did not. It's remarkable that for all the confusion, each 'surprise' got second-guessed by Aisleyne almost immediately, almost every time.

Or, this could go down as the last one like this.

Possibly, it gets sold on to ITV, Davina gets put into mothballs despite not actually looking like a people mover 'this year', and they give it to the name they signed for big bucks but can't figure out what to do with anymore.

Or Paul O'Grady.

We shall seeeeeee,,,,,.....

theantmustdance (theantmustdance), Sunday, 20 August 2006 08:10 (nineteen years ago)

finally got round to watching all the stuff we'd taped on friday. looking at the highlights show, i thought: hang on, this should, by rights, have been an excellent series. the drama, the tears, the one-man cataclysms that were spiral and shahbaz ... but somehow over 93 days most of that passed me by. maybe that's what they should do next year: film it for quarter of a year, then show us the edited highlights for four minutes while snow patrol play in the background.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Sunday, 20 August 2006 10:02 (nineteen years ago)

Hi ,

I was wondering if you could help me with regard to a TV series that we are currently producing. It is called Princess Nikki and will be aired on E4. It will feature Big Brother's Nikki Grahame - this year's most talked about housemate. The 24-year-old moaning air conditioning hater has no concept of what a 'real' job is. The little Princess's temper tantrums in the Big Brother house have become legendary, with her ability to strop over literally nothing being truly a sight to behold.

In this series we see if Nikki can cut the mustard in a series of everyday jobs. All she has to do is last one day. If she last's the day without walking or being fired, she gets rewarded. We would love for Nikki to try her hand working for a Wedding Planner and would be interested to find out more about what it is exactly she could do for you. We are keen to have her try as many jobs as possible and would be shooting over a 2-day period in the next few weeks.

Please do call me if you need any further information,
Looking forward to hearing from you,

Kind regards,

Emily Marks
Princess Nikki

It's probably not going to be as gut-wrenchingly abominable as 'Naked Jungle', to give it some credit.

Scourage (Haberdager), Sunday, 20 August 2006 10:29 (nineteen years ago)

I read that as "shooting her over a 2-day period" - I'd watch that.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Sunday, 20 August 2006 10:38 (nineteen years ago)

o god, no, gerry. imagine the moaning. "it huuUUUUURRRRTSS. my leg is bleeEEEEEeeeediiNNNgg." etc.

chap who would dare to start Raaatpackin (chap), Sunday, 20 August 2006 15:53 (nineteen years ago)

the very THOUGHT of pete makes me GRIND MY TEETH now.

Bashment Jakes (Enrique), Monday, 21 August 2006 07:48 (nineteen years ago)

Right, since the programme closed:

1) Nikki was a £500 call girl, prev client includes Pete Doherty
2) Ais lived in a H drophouse
3) etc...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 21 August 2006 07:57 (nineteen years ago)

i've never picked up the full aisleyne story.

fuck pete and his jesus freak bullshit.

Bashment Jakes (Enrique), Monday, 21 August 2006 08:01 (nineteen years ago)

i didn't watch the last week so pete's vision was a bit startling. had he mentioned it before? had it been edited out?

that said, i think pete may have won the battle but glyn will win the war, purely because i can't see pete doing live interviews on richard and judy, etc. he was obviously suffering during his exit interview and they practically ignored him on BBBM that evening.

did nikki skip her second exit interview? was richard as awful as i imagined him to be in his?

> It was a shame, about Jennie's awful eviction outfit and hair.

yes, one of those people who look better when they don't try.

Koogy Yonderboy (koogs), Monday, 21 August 2006 08:15 (nineteen years ago)

bbbm on friday ignored everyone, pretty much!

i wouldn't have kept watching the show were it not for bbbm. i doubt RB will do it next year, will have got too big?

Bashment Jakes (Enrique), Monday, 21 August 2006 08:18 (nineteen years ago)

Watching Pete and Glyn have a big pillow fight and then trash the house at the end made me realise that, despite falling away the past couple of weeks, they're still two of the best housemates ever.

I'm going to break with the received wisdom that says this series was decidedly worse than last year. There was way too much fannydangle Craig or Roberto all of whom were so utterly hateful I can still remember all their names.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 21 August 2006 08:18 (nineteen years ago)

lolololol, i just caught up with this. i was away this weekend, so i missed the final! HUEG SADFAEC. a real shame to miss Nikki being booed tbh.

big shame Aisleyne didn't win, but looking forward in a perverse way to hearing Pete's band's MASSIVELY overproduced first single.

so, if you'll excuse the cliche, who is the REAL WINNER of BB7, kids?

btw (scourage = g-kit, sort of)
lololol wtf joo talxing about tbh i knoes how 2 talk proper k thx

Bashment Jakes (Enrique), Monday, 21 August 2006 08:44 (nineteen years ago)

yah, far too much tinkering this year.

i am teh_kit! (g-kit), Monday, 21 August 2006 08:45 (nineteen years ago)

I think Craig singlehandedly made last year's better than this one.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 21 August 2006 09:07 (nineteen years ago)

nikki is clearly quite troubles. she could have been britain's first uh 'obsessive-complubrity'.

Bashment Jakes (Enrique), Monday, 21 August 2006 09:13 (nineteen years ago)

Alba, you're my worst nightmare on this thread.

i heard some gossip this weekend off a mate of ...someone involved with the prog. including the fact that , apparently, week two, just after dawn left, was quite hard to edit because the housemates were suffering from the collective delusion (or fantasy that they had come up with amongst themselves) that shabazz had kidnapped dawn's sister amd was holding her hostage & this is why dawn had to leave so suddenly. apparently most of that week was spent with housemates in the diary room being talked out of that delusion. included - Lea breaking down because she couldn't risk her kid being kidnapped and held to ransom by shabazz, among other things.

so did nobody watch the reunion thing last night, then? i'm flicking through it on the vid ... er, humax now. i've just fast-forwarded through a "hilarious" montage of nikki moaning about the air-con.

they began with housemates sitting in various different parts of the house; for some reason they had shahbaz hugging george on the diary-room chair. george was a squirming mess of misery. "how long will i have to stay here?" he kept saying. he was still moaning as dermot buggered off out of shot. heh.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 21 August 2006 10:52 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, GF, it's the last minute or so of the last programme every year. Shot of kitchen, spooky voiceover "I'm cooking an egg for the very first time, ah hum", lights go out on kitchen.

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 21 August 2006 14:08 (nineteen years ago)

The Brian Downing one finishing off with "Evillllllll!" was the best.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 21 August 2006 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

V.disappointed with ghosty empty house this year. Just didn't work, somehow. I think there weren't enough silent gaps, and some of the n-n-n-n-nineteen sound effects were lame. And maybe too many of the quotes were too well-known.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 10:48 (nineteen years ago)

The last voice, Pete saying "Big Brother changed my life" was a bit rub, but the rest was fine. I prefer quotable quotes.

Any update on the life and times of Sezer? Charlie Brooker's increasingly bilious demolition of 'aspirational men' leading to AND YOU END UP WITH CUNTS LIKE THIS [cut to the 'Sezer's palace! Sezer's palace!' clip] on Screen Wipe recently, was brilliant.

Mostly due to the convincing arguments by people on here, and the housemates' reaction to her Pete speech, I warmed to Aislyene in the final moments and was pleased she came third. Which is annoying as I spent the past few weeks thinking she was an overbearing manipulative teary-eyed dimwit. It's like the Victor and Jason year when I felt myself rooting for Jason in the final minutes, despite him being one of the most vile creatures to ever appear on TV. All credit to the ILX commentary.

I'm looking forward to the first kiss-n-tell about Glyn, almost as much as he is. It's sweet that he actually WANTS that to happen. I think, and hope, he'll come through it unscathed.
