personally, all that aubergine was boring the hell out of me. poor tim didnt have much to comment on. the only dresses i really liked were edie falco's and, my favorite, helen mirran's (!!) white dress. oh and someone from the office crew was wearing a nice silver number too.

She dedicated her award to mothers who are being forced to wait for their children to come home ... then she lost her place and got really confused ... then she sounded like she dedicated the award "to war" ... then she said something that got censored ... then it cut to a wide shot as she walked away to applause and what sounded to my ears like some fierce booing ... then we were expected to be silent for the "in memorium" segment.

All in all, I guess I wouldn't be surprised if it just turned out she accidentally swore. She was getting really flustered about finishing her speech and appeared to be racing the countdown.

Ever the controversial figure (um... not really), Sally Field was apparently censored by Fox just a few minutes ago for speaking out against the war. She was pretty tongue-tied in her acceptance speech and was babbling somewhat incoherently about "war" when she suddenly said something to the effect of "we all know that if women ruled the world there would be no godda..." and Fox awkwardly cut audio and switched camera angles to one above the auditorium. So... what else can you deduce but that Fox cut her speech for mentioning the war? Possibly they will go with the cover story that it was because of her attempted "goddamn". But we'll see if this becomes a story or not. Maybe that's why I'm writing on it. Do I care if Sally Field is censored? Probably. She did scare the shit out of me as a kid in Sybil...

Kinda stunned that pretty much all of the nominations I would've selected from shows that I've seen are present and accounted for (although I would've given Shrinking a best comedy series nod and maybe toss Harrison Ford a bone, as well).

I doubt many people agree with me that Big Mouth is the best thing on TV/streaming right now, but the 88th season of The Simpsons getting a nomination instead of it just proves that the Emmys give as much care to their Animation categories as the Oscars do.

It feels increasingly clear that the more content there is, the more voters are just going to go all-in on three or four shows. I think at this point The White Lotus has 17 acting nominations ... from a grand total of two seasons.

Definitely glad they passed on Ford and instead nominated Williams and Segal (who I normally can't stand but is indeed quite good in Shrinking).

Lead actress in a comedy is definitely the acting category that has very little to do with my take on quality (Brunson aside):

Agreed Big Mouth is better than both the latest season of The Simpsons (yawn) and also better than Bob’s Burgers (which I like and am glad for it, but).

That said, my big complaint with the Emmys is the boring inertia of the nominations. Once a show is nominated, it likely will be nominated every season hence (see: Mrs Maisel, Ted Lasso, Elizabeth Moss for Handmaid’s Tale…). So in that regard I’m shocked Big Mouth wasn’t nominated because it has been for most of its other seasons!

Not sure if this is the right thread but I couldn't find it elsewhere and wow this sounds insane - you can't be nominated as team member for a Sports Emmy for a program if you're already nominated for your specific role, so ESPN were making up Bobson Dugnutt names for the team (as 'Associate producer') and getting them re-engraved for the talent.
