Nepenthe at Big Sur on Friday. Those two people with me are who to blame for my existence, if you are so inclined. (I am not so inclined, seeing as they are both good people and all. ;-) )

http://static.flickr.com/93/235522007_c17be04737.jpg

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 01:11 (eighteen years ago)

I was at Big Sur recently, but we went to Ventana instead of Nepenthe. Ned, why does Carmel love dogs so much?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

Why because Carmel Beach is dog heaven, o' course! (I recommend The Gods of Frolic for proof.)

As a specific example, please consider the various shots of the family dog Lexie down on the beach from last year (as part of a larger set).

And Ventana is quite excellent. Next time.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 01:34 (eighteen years ago)

We stayed at Doris Day's dog hotel, otherwise known as the Cypress Inn. From there on we observed everything but dogs surfing. Dogs then became sort of the theme of our drive south. I soured on them only during my 7 a.m flight home from LAX that featured a baby chihuaha sitting on the floor next to me smuggled in a gym bag.

Dogs at our hotel

Aw, bless. Fine beasts both.

We stayed at Doris Day's dog hotel, otherwise known as the Cypress Inn.

Ah yes. (Keep in mind as a local all the hotels in town just kinda roll off me. Spanish Bay over in Pebble Beach is nice, though, but we just go for Roy's.)

Doin that Jewish thang

It's a Jewish thing to sign purple papers at a wedding?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 03:40 (eighteen years ago)

The Ketubah - the Jewish marriage document. Lots of Hebrew on it an' stuff.

The Ketubah - the Jewish marriage document. Lots of Hebrew on it an' stuff.

Crazy, never heard of it before (but then again I am as goy as it gets). The older gentlemen looks deeply concerned that something might go wrong.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 03:44 (eighteen years ago)

The older gentleman is my father, who also served as Rabbi. "Deeply concerned that something might go wrong" is a good general description of him.

I just wanted to ask if you had any pics online of your bump. Yeah, first couple of months are of course sans bump - you go around gloating and people wonder why - and then suddenly people hesitantly ask if you're pregnant or maybe... gained a few pounds. Then it's "When are you due?" :-) You look SUPER (as do most pregnant ladies of course).

Jon, looking good there!

Forgot to say congrats to Hurting. So I'm doing it now: CONGRATULATIONS! :-)

mr. brojangles, I swear I saw you today. But you were wearing black leather hot pants.I swear to god, I nearly had a rofflicious fit.

It's the livingroom which is located behind the shop. We sadly don't own it. But I have to admit that the living room is the best room on the house. It really does look grand (very high ceilings and really mad crazy big mirrors). :-)

that is a really cute and fabulous photo of you both, nathalie :) i like your (possibly unintentional) model pose, with the shoulder up and how both your mouths are slightly open. and then all the crazy stuff behind you.

The unintentional pose - for me anyway - is just my big mouth which doesn't close easily. ;-)

sunny successor (katharine), Friday, 15 September 2006 20:06 (eighteen years ago)

It could be. It could be a shark. (I spent most of the time trying to get my daughter to stop screaming [not out of fear, just manic overtiredness], I didn't really read the plaques).

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Friday, 15 September 2006 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

That's a cool picture of you, nath!

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 25 September 2006 16:19 (eighteen years ago)

You think? Y'know, I think the brace is kinda cool. I like to pretend I'm Wacko Jackson and do the moonwalk in the shop or something. But alas I'm not much of a moonwalker. So I just yell "I'm baaaaad" a few times. Carrying the baby is VERY difficult. :-( But I can't resist picking her up.

haha Stan, typing is in fact much harder with the brace on. What's the cause of the brace (and the inflamed - if that'show you call it - tendon)? Hmm, a combination of things, but I'm blaming it on not doing the breastfeeding the right way. I used to put her head in my hand (as opposed to just putting her head on my arm). And of course knitting is very difficult now. I just threw it off during class.

It was amazing and I want to go back. Humayun's tomb is really impressive - they say the Taj Mahal is based on it - but I prefered the Red Fort and Jama Masjid myself. Why do you ask? Are you going?

"Quentin Tarantino."

Not, not Gregory... something like Harrison Ford or Tommy Lee Jones or something. Except not that. He's the owner of the company I work for, and I found out today that he has mob ties and was probably a player in the big S&L scandal, but I don't care about that. He looks like someone else, and I'm preoccupied with it.
