This looks vaguely watchable, but I don't know if they can stretch out the human torch and the silver surfer chasing each other for a feature-length picture. Maybe the rest of the movie will be documentary-style eyewitness interviews, all backwardsed-up, and at the end we find out a twist, that they knew each other and planned it from the beginning, just to fuck up his brothers' wedding, for some reason, possibly to do with a heist. Tell the whole thing from the perspective of Ben Grimm, amateur detective, trying to get to the bottom of this, confronting his own doubts and shit, maybe he starts drinking a lot.

I quite enjoyed this trailer (I like how it's a scene rather than a montage), but still doubt this'll be much cop. The effects are very computer gamey.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Monday, 8 January 2007 16:51 (nineteen years ago)

Both in crappy animated Avengers movie(s), Iron Mang has his own crappy animated movie coming out this month.

My guess would probably be Doctor Strange. (which thanks to xposts looks less like an original idea)

Tom Reilly (Zach Braff) is a bit of an underachiever when it comes to his career (or lack thereof), but his adoring wife Sofia (Amanda Peet), a formidable lawyer, has always been happy to act as the breadwinner. With the birth of their first child, Sofia decides she wants to be a stay-at-home mom so Tom needs to step up and take care of his growing family.

Ha!! Reading that you might think this movie sucks! But it is really about Braff getting FUCKED UP by a DUDE IN A WHEELCHAIR for an HOUR AND A HALF. $$$$$$ RING A DING DING

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Monday, 8 January 2007 16:56 (nineteen years ago)

I am kind of in love with Robert Downy Jr at the moment, so this is totally Good News to me.

I just read a thing about new F4 movie this morning*, I am greatly interested in return of Dr Doom in Full-On Dr Doom Mode - it seemed like the biggest problem with the first F4 movie was that it was so fucking BORING because they were being SCIENTISTS instead of AWESOME BADASSES.

*here is path of internetting which led to it - thing about Pan's Labyrinth mentioned Doug Jones (Pan) -> Doug Jones imdb/wiki read -> Doug Jones plays Silver Surfer -> oh hey new F4 has Silver Surfer!

She's kind of ok looking in a skanky sort of way, just like Braff is ok looking in a dude-that-works-in-a-bookstore-and-is-all-creepy-at-you-when-you-check-out kind of way, but they're both so vacant in an ugly-dumb way, if that makes sense? They just both look like unpleasant people.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Monday, 8 January 2007 17:05 (nineteen years ago)

XXP: No, she's "beautiful" in a horsey, mannish way, which I think is portrayed as a priviliged-class ideal. (Middle-class girls aspire to be blonde and rosy and pretty, apparently.)

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 8 January 2007 17:06 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I feel like, in general, middle-class girls in film are the "girl next door" types who have cheeky cheeks and grins and are generally "pretty". The horsey, lanky, striking, strong-boned thing that misses "pretty" and is maybe a better candidate for "handsome" gets slotted as a more priviliged role...? I have to admit I can't give a raft of examples to back this up, so, y'know, ignore me. Also I come from the midwest where ALL THIS WHITE GIRLS NEXT DOOR actually ARE cheeky and blonde.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Monday, 8 January 2007 17:23 (nineteen years ago)

I'm sure it will be a decent movie. But I will not be able to watch it for another 2-3 years most likely. It would be better if it were a completely OTT explosions adventure like Enemy Of The State or something, or some kind of Clancyfied Spy Game shit, but the trailer makes it look like they really tried to give a fuck about the story and the only embellishment is Ryan Phillipe as a bolt-on narrative cheat, which is a good way to make me hate the shit out of it, on top of just generally being nauseated by that milieu anyway.

I watched the Wild Hogs trailer to see if it was going to be dark/bleak like Deliverance, and now I need some kinda mental Roto-Rooter.

Hanna (Sarah Polley) accepts a job on an oil rig caring for Josef (Tim Robbins), a burn victim. As Hanna tends to Josef’s wounds, it soon becomes clear he’s desperate to divulge secrets. Meanwhile, the AFLAC duck (voice of Gilbert Gottfried), a stowaway, runs a-fowl of the rig's uptight Captain McGillicuddy (Kelsey Grammar). This madcap chase across the wackiest oil platform in the west is fun for the whole family!

in my other work refusal project, reading about TV shows I never plan to watch ever on Wikipedia, I have discovered that sometimes all it takes to lock an article down over there is two complete fucking dork idiot twats arguing about whether or not something that is filmed in Canada but shown in the US is Canadian or American.

ten months pass...

I need to netflix some of these!
In other news, my latest conference call adventure was listening in as my little company got cut out by the much bigger company that serves as the primary on our contract. Luckily for me the bigger company is going to hire all of us on so nobody has to lose their job unless they really want to. Who the fuck knows what kind of salary/vacation/benefits shit I'm going to wind up with, though. OH WELL, BUSINESS AS USUAL.

Speaking of which, I had a dream a couple of weeks ago where Tombot was some sort of military commander, kind of like the head of UNIT or something, when the country was attacked by aliens. Clearly a sign that I am a. spending too much time at work on ilx again and b. I am probably watching too much Doctor Who.

Tracer, give me a fucking break. I was at work until after midnight writing about that stupid crap. Moral of the story: criminals already steal people's shit all the time on the internet and they don't need 200 playstation 3s running bespoke math nerd shit to do it

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 31 December 2008 15:43 (seventeen years ago)

OTOH in between kaminsky "breaking" dns, the outpost24 guys "breaking" tcp, renesys "breaking" bgp and now these guys "breaking" md5 signatures, 2008 was apparently the year we had all the smart motherfuckers wearing white hats (did not change the fact that everybody still runs windows, surfs with IE, and gets owned daily as a result)

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 31 December 2008 15:46 (seventeen years ago)

Guess who's father complained at him when he tried to update his parents computer to actually get all those dumb little hotfix/security patches that get sent out regularly.

Also, same father runs outlook express and just can't stop clicking on anything with a little paperclip and a FW: FW: FW: FW: RE::: FW: attached to it.
