I don't know why I would bother posting this, considering people are saying things like "good riddance" (don't get me wrong; I expect nothing less), but I guess I'd like to offer my own personal experience:

My first entertainment job was P.A.ing on the set of "Naked Gun 33 1/3" for a few weeks in Los Angeles, over which Anna Nicole Smith shot a bunch of scenes for the movie. She was incredibly nice. Clearly very addled even then, pre-Trimspa and oil tycoon scandals, etc., and seemingly deeply troubled, but absolutely great to the crew and without a single complaint about anything. She was led around by various men who seemed borderline abusive, and often had her extremely friendly Texan friends hanging out with her, who were amused by the fuss. I often spoke to the son while he sat watching his mother do takes; he was a nice kid, if clearly overwhelmed. On my last day working on the shoot, I got my picture taken with her. It's one of my favorite pictures of myself... I am totally gawky, with a Smashing Pumpkins t-shirt on and blushing, since I had been embarassed to ask her for the picture to begin with. She has her arm around me and is pointing at the SP logo with her other hand. She shook my hand and thanked me, telling the crew that making the movie had been the most fun she ever had.

FOR ANNA NICOLE SMITH

Your Guess ads showed us
an enigmatic topology
of flesh.
Your reality show gave us
your hick grin.

Texas Monthly gave you
"Bum Steer" awards -
you were
the only winner
to ever repeat
the feat.
(You paid for that
magazine's own
sense of self-doubt;
how some Texans fear they
are perceived
in the world.)

Everything is bigger in Texas -
and you showed them to us.

Farewell, then, you crazy diamond.
Or should we say, "gold".
Like the gold you dug.
And now they
are digging your grave.

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 9 February 2007 18:39 (eighteen years ago)

is that the show hosted by dude from sugar ray?? i feel a real sense of outrage that he's allowed to somehow have a career outside of being dude from sugar ray and isnt forced to remind viewers of this fact every 30 seconds

and what (ooo), Friday, 9 February 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 9 February 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)

Now conspiracy freaks are claiming Danny (the son) was Danielynn's father and that the DNA tests will therefore prove nothing w/r/t the paternity claims for lawyers, boyfriends, space aliens, Jesus, and Gabors.

Hunter (Hunter), Friday, 9 February 2007 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

I'd hit that shit, post-mortem.

Daniel Markham (CREEPY D), Saturday, 10 February 2007 02:01 (eighteen years ago)

Suzy, your joke's still not clear. Are you implying she was 79?

without me, it was tie! (Rrrickey), Saturday, 10 February 2007 08:50 (eighteen years ago)

No, she's stating that she's like us: not in the capacity to drop some hints at having known her or her entourage.

Anyway, I find it extremely sad she's dead: (Passive) suicide and a little girl who's now an orphan with no brother... I often wonder how it feels like to lead a life like that: so much scandal, so much glitter but, also, so much pain and loneliness. :-(

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Saturday, 10 February 2007 09:19 (eighteen years ago)

Probably somewhat better than just plain pain and loneliness.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Saturday, 10 February 2007 09:25 (eighteen years ago)

i loved her moomins

Frogm@n Henry (Frogm@n Henry), Saturday, 10 February 2007 09:37 (eighteen years ago)

shit - wrong thread

Frogm@n Henry (Frogm@n Henry), Saturday, 10 February 2007 09:37 (eighteen years ago)

or is it?

Frogm@n Henry (Frogm@n Henry), Saturday, 10 February 2007 09:37 (eighteen years ago)

Huk-L, of course it isn't worse than *plain* loneliness, but I can still find it extremely sad. You tend to think of them as happy because they are loved by many people, but that probably makes them feel lonelier? Whatever. I think it's sad.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Saturday, 10 February 2007 09:40 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I know. I work in what's called "Canada's Poorest Postal Code" and I heard the news from the locals, who were all "oh, that poor girl". It was cute

Huk-L (Huk-L), Saturday, 10 February 2007 09:53 (eighteen years ago)

Which is to say, celebrities, in life and death, give us, I don't know, reflections of ourselves. Grotesque, fun-house mirror reflections sometimes, but, I don't know. I think a lot of people were happy to have something to be melancholy about other than the Pickton trial.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Saturday, 10 February 2007 09:55 (eighteen years ago)

And now, the crying judge.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 February 2007 16:13 (eighteen years ago)

I'm sorry, but this is just gross.

vermonter, Friday, 23 February 2007 20:06 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not sorry and that is gross.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Friday, 23 February 2007 20:33 (eighteen years ago)

that judge should be condemned to eternal life on "the bold and the beautiful."

nathalie, Friday, 23 February 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

has anyone seen the video of her in clown makeup? the whole thing is sort of horrifying. it makes britney's recent escapades look like performing higher mathematic functions.

max, Friday, 23 February 2007 22:27 (eighteen years ago)

the clown video is creepy, and mostly not because of anna nicole (which is just sad) but because of dude filming it.

lex pretend, Friday, 23 February 2007 22:28 (eighteen years ago)

yeah--clearly she's gone way off the deep end and all the dude has to say is "are you on shrooms?" and "this video is worth a lot of money"
