C'mon, I know you're out there.

Kate, non masonic, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 21:37 (eighteen years ago)

Coming to you from Frustration City. I bloody AM logged in ASSHAT.

Hard like armour, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

Success! Hurrah. Hi dere.

Hard like armour, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

Hi!

Kate, non masonic, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 22:16 (eighteen years ago)

so much white space

electricsound, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 22:25 (eighteen years ago)

OH WELL THIS IS FRESH

haitch, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 22:28 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah I am not fond of the whitespace either - it is a waste, less fits on the screen. I actually wouldnt mind even if we went to a more sleek looking interface, as long as it had screen readability - which I dont feel this has. But if you go to "turn off style" in FF, the HR lines look like shit.

Trayce, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 22:50 (eighteen years ago)

Also, BB code? AAAARGH. And, hide images doesnt work :(

Trayce, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 22:51 (eighteen years ago)

DavidM, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 22:54 (eighteen years ago)

Without email addresses etc I'm having trouble working out who people are.

I assume this is all going to change though.

testing testing shitty BB code testing

Trayce, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 22:56 (eighteen years ago)

electricsound, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

electricsound, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

Oh oh, I've just had a surprise job performance review sprung on me. It's happening in 10 minutes. Wish me luck. I hope I'll return...

Hard like armour, Thursday, 22 February 2007 00:22 (eighteen years ago)

SURPRISE BUTTSECKS!!!

electricsound, Thursday, 22 February 2007 00:29 (eighteen years ago)

more like hard-ON like armour, amirite?

haitch, Thursday, 22 February 2007 00:59 (eighteen years ago)

More precisely, strap-on-like-armour. I live to surf another day on company time AND get a pay rise to boot.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 22 February 2007 01:10 (eighteen years ago)

as a long-time vinyl aficionado, VG means something very different to me

electricsound, Thursday, 22 February 2007 01:39 (eighteen years ago)

i bought an old ralphi rosario 12" recently that was "VG" but it was not!!

haitch, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:06 (eighteen years ago)

I managed to get ver bogan from Hoppers here in America to actually like THE FALL.

Mark E. Smith breaks down all cultural barriers-uh.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:09 (eighteen years ago)

it's good music to shout along to

PAY YOUR RATES!!!!

electricsound, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:12 (eighteen years ago)

i would normally expect VG to be bad but recently i've discovered VG+ can sometimes mean "a little dusty" and EX can often mean "scratched to within an inch of its life" depending on the seller..

electricsound, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:12 (eighteen years ago)

I also threatened my roommates with buying a guitar today. Now that would be fun.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:15 (eighteen years ago)

Funny the Fall come up, I've 'ad Kicker Konspiracy stuck in my head all day, after having completely forgotten it even existed for fnyears.

Trayce, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:16 (eighteen years ago)

electricsound, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:17 (eighteen years ago)

South African just knocked on our apartment door and said: "turn in on Channel 35, it's the Girls of the Playboy Mansion!"

It's, erm, educational. Not as good as the MTV show I watched last night where hoochies try to seduce some dude to win money.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:18 (eighteen years ago)

i would normally expect VG to be bad but recently i've discovered VG+ can sometimes mean "a little dusty" and EX can often mean "scratched to within an inch of its life" depending on the seller..

electricsound on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 9:12 PM (6 minutes ago)

I've had some VG's show up shiny & sharp, man. Kind sellers grade conservatively, I guess.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:20 (eighteen years ago)

much better to undergrade than overgrade

i've only had three obscenely overgraded 45s but it's enough to want to tread carefully.

even worse is when they look ok visually but in fact the grooves are all fucked up from damaged or cheap needles

electricsound, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:26 (eighteen years ago)

Hi all

badg, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:43 (eighteen years ago)

Hey stet fixed the whitespace a bit, it looks a little more normal here now.

Trayce, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:44 (eighteen years ago)

Am I missing something cos I are moron? Still looks the same to me?

Hard like armour, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:55 (eighteen years ago)

hold down shift, and click reload.

Trayce, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:57 (eighteen years ago)

it's a bit more squashed together now

electricsound, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:57 (eighteen years ago)

Beautiful. Thanks Trayce.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:59 (eighteen years ago)

Fuk yeh, that's betterer.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 22 February 2007 03:59 (eighteen years ago)

I am this close to strangling everyone I come into contact with.

edwardo, Thursday, 22 February 2007 05:03 (eighteen years ago)

:(

Trayce, Thursday, 22 February 2007 05:11 (eighteen years ago)

Did you miss me HEY while I was away? Ratty/Col checking in.

I've had so many adventures. And yes, I did go to LA, and I did go to a party with R*n J*remy. I am not kidding.

moley, Friday, 23 February 2007 22:50 (eighteen years ago)

I LIKE the new design. You guys are afraid of change.

moley, Friday, 23 February 2007 22:52 (eighteen years ago)

i missed you moley! so glad to see you.

estela, Friday, 23 February 2007 22:52 (eighteen years ago)

Aw thanks estela. It feels so nice to be talking to you all again instead of just reading. I still lurked here occasionally but I had stupid problems trying to re-resigster, not sure why.

moley, Friday, 23 February 2007 22:56 (eighteen years ago)

Col! Howthefuckareya? :D What was LA like? Crazyape bonkers? Good to see you again.

I went and got my hair cut yesterday. I said I wanted a bob with all the length right at the front. She proceeded to completely ignore me and now I have a fucking lopsided fringey emo haircut. Fuck that. I mean it looks nice but it was so not what I described! I had a red fringe I said I wanted to keep! She cut half of it off! BITCH. Wont be going back there.

Trayce, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:13 (eighteen years ago)

I've had so many adventures. And yes, I did go to LA, and I did go to a party with R*n J*remy. I am not kidding.

And you did not drop a line when you were here! *cries*

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:15 (eighteen years ago)

Speaking of which, weren't you coming back down here this year Ned?

Trayce, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:17 (eighteen years ago)

Dammit I wish they'd fix the logout cookie to be per-browser session instead of per-half hour grrr.

Trayce, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:17 (eighteen years ago)

Plz check FAQ re: what is and isn't available at present.

As for being there -- I had hoped, but there was financial restraint. Next year, hopefully.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

Oh well perhaps I shall have to go over there instead! So many of youse I want to meet, so little me to go round.

Trayce, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:20 (eighteen years ago)

hi ned, i ordered the bittman cookbook after reading your praises of it and it is really a good cookbook, i have used it a lot already, thanks!

estela, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:22 (eighteen years ago)

Trayce, have you posted a pic of your emo haircut yet? Does it sweep across one eye? I love that. Also I am really getting into My Chemical Romance. As you can see, nothing's changed.

LA was definitely crazyape bonkers. I hope to go back asap. Hi Ned!

I suppose your questions about the trip must be answered. So let's say those questions are: 'Did you do X? Did you do Y? And did you do Z?'. The answers are yes, yes, and no... there was no opportunity to do Z, and I'm not sure I would've gone there even if there had been.

Sorry I didn't drop you a line - I just couldn't figure out how to reregister, but the new board is easy. I'm dumb like that. Also, Ned: Californians are friendlier than Australians UNTIL they get behind a wheel. Plus: you guys have shit coffee and haven't grasped recycling yet. Plus: I heart Ihop.

moley, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:24 (eighteen years ago)

First point: yes (note I do not drive). Second points: too true. Final point: you need to try Norm's.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:26 (eighteen years ago)

Yes I posted a pic on the WDYLL thread! It sort of flops, but not like Phil Oakey! Which is good!

Ned where is FAQ?

Trayce, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:26 (eighteen years ago)

FAQ is here:

Behold the friendly new FAQ

Ned Raggett, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

Thankye!

Trayce, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:31 (eighteen years ago)

i like your haircut trayce! (btw etc etc)

estela, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:36 (eighteen years ago)

Norm's eh? OK, next time I will. I don't drive either, Rach did all the driving. It nearly drove her mad. No crashes, she did a great job, but there was one moment when she almost stopped, Marge Simpson style, on a freeway. Coming back to Sydney was like returning to a small country town.

moley, Friday, 23 February 2007 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

You know what though? The women are allk hot, obviously, but the (usually male) directors are almost as nerdy as we are. They looked like Morrissey fans.

moley, Saturday, 24 February 2007 09:38 (eighteen years ago)

Oh boy. That bogan from Hoppers is trying to drive me INSANE by getting up before me on Saturday and playing Wolfmother non-stop all day. And when I complain about having to be subjected to such shite, he claims that I quoth, "have no social skills". Because if you want social skills, you get them from HOPPERS.

Any solutions, mongs? I tried scratching his Wolfmother CD but that obviously didn't work.

King Boy Pato, Saturday, 24 February 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

Try a bit harder.

:-)

Kate, non masonic, Saturday, 24 February 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

I can't be too obvious!

King Boy Pato, Sunday, 25 February 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

Swap his Wolfmother CDs for some Sabbath ones! He wont know the difference.

Trayce, Sunday, 25 February 2007 21:20 (eighteen years ago)

hi mongrels

where is the setting page? i want to make it so it only loads unread or last 20 answers or whatever like it used to... nb this may be a reallly dumb question, but i can't see it in the preferences thingo?

gem, Sunday, 25 February 2007 22:22 (eighteen years ago)

can't be done yet :(

electricsound, Sunday, 25 February 2007 23:54 (eighteen years ago)

It does only load 100 posts on bigger threads, but does so by loading first 50/last 50, with a "skipping..." link in the middle. Somewhat confusing, and way too slashdot for my liking.

Trayce, Sunday, 25 February 2007 23:56 (eighteen years ago)

for all my desire not to whinge, the current format of the board is making things mighty tiresome.

electricsound, Monday, 26 February 2007 00:12 (eighteen years ago)

I only really have issue with the inability to hide images with links (its all or nothing which is batty), and with the ridiculously short cookie timeout. Can they not set the cookie to be active as long as the browser page remains open, regardless of idle time? ie, like LJ does?

Still, it is hard work getting stuff like this going so I wont whinge or owt.

Trayce, Monday, 26 February 2007 00:14 (eighteen years ago)

Mongrels, can you help?

moley, Monday, 26 February 2007 00:26 (eighteen years ago)

Argh that's right. No HTML.

Hey Jim, I think you'd like a band called Rainer Maria. Heard of them?

moley, Monday, 26 February 2007 03:19 (eighteen years ago)

funny you should say that moley, as RM are responsible for more than one of my favourite records of all time. where did you trip across them?

electricsound, Monday, 26 February 2007 03:21 (eighteen years ago)

I cannae help ye with that one Col - though Sasha seems to have come to the party!

I wish last.fm had more older alt-oz stuff on its radio streams.

Trayce, Monday, 26 February 2007 03:24 (eighteen years ago)

Dammit speaking of which, why I not find "Talking to a Stranger" any damn where? Stupid emusic, why did I sign up with them?

Trayce, Monday, 26 February 2007 03:33 (eighteen years ago)

Cheers Trayce- guess there's a bit of an opening for ozmusic there perhaps.

funny you should say that moley, as RM are responsible for more than one of my favourite records of all time. where did you trip across them?

King Boy Pato, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 05:17 (eighteen years ago)

In more positive news: I was in NYC yesterday.

King Boy Pato, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 05:18 (eighteen years ago)

i am house/dog/catsitting for a friend who is in nyc! she emailed me today to say brrrrr and that she has bought me a lovely trenchcoat as a thank you present. seems odd seeing as it is 42 in perth today.

also, this thing where you have to load the whole thread or whatever is really annoying

gem, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 09:27 (eighteen years ago)

Trayce, we'll be there, dividing our time between a housewarming and yours.

On the tram on the way home tonight there was a loud bunch of Americans necking Miller Genuine Draft and for all my 'America, Fuck Yeah'-ness, I was mightily tempted to go up to them and be all 'I said, my good people, would you mind keeping your voices down? Some of us are trying to reflect on the workday just past. And may I remind you that the imbibing of alcohol is forbidden on Melbourne's public transport systems. Kindly dispose of the bottles at the next stop."

Yeah, WTF.

Hard like armour, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 06:12 (eighteen years ago)

I take no responsibility for the first two bands. They're from SA.

S-, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 06:42 (eighteen years ago)

I had my exhibition last night. It was great. I sold some work and "networked" with some advertising agency henchmen, so hopefully I might start getting a regular income sometime soon :)

S-, Thursday, 8 March 2007 04:46 (eighteen years ago)

Speaking of which, M was talking the other night about how we should go back to Hosiers.

S-, Thursday, 8 March 2007 04:46 (eighteen years ago)

Kate, I remember a coupla years ago you were saying you were struggling with the photography thing - things have changed a fair bit, right? You seem to be winning.

We haven't put that shit in a climate-controlled glass display case yet!?

I did not know Esteban's buttez smelled that bad?!

Kate, your photos are exquisite. The colour is just mind blowing.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 8 March 2007 07:08 (eighteen years ago)

Thankyou!

I'm still not winning financially, but I am being flown to Sydney to shoot some band for Sony all expenses paid. It felt rather nice to give them a laundry list of demands before I would agree to do it.

Kate, non masonic, Thursday, 8 March 2007 11:28 (eighteen years ago)

I'm sure the $$$ will follow with your talent! Which band are you shooting in Sydney? That is the coolest.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 8 March 2007 21:36 (eighteen years ago)

I don't even know yet. Apparently it's top secret.

Trayce, Friday, 9 March 2007 00:05 (eighteen years ago)

those make me think of a darker version of this:

Funny you should say that, thats my next shoot! I don't especially like Joanna Newsom, but the cover really took my fancy. I have everything but the blackbird which is being stuffed and posted to me from SA.

I don't know why, but I really miss living in Manly (circa 1982) today, and so am just dropping in to say hey y'all.

Hi Luna!

I like Nora Head. It sounds like something a shark would do. And then there's Lake Disappointment and Mount Depression.

moley, Friday, 9 March 2007 03:49 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah those last two are great! Aren't they from Queensland, when Captain Cook was missing his Tahitian poontang or something like that?

badg, Friday, 9 March 2007 03:54 (eighteen years ago)

There is also a place called Buggery somewhere in the Alps. And a Mount Typo :D

There is a place up near Bundaberg called "Town of 1770". I used to think it was just called "1770" but no, it's "Town of 1770".

Wow, my criterion/criteria thread is going OFF. But it was meant to be good silly, not bad silly.

moley, Saturday, 10 March 2007 05:34 (eighteen years ago)

hot topic moley! i don't understand where people find the time to write these lengthy dissertations on the conjugation of dead languages and other such questions of high controversy. i barely have time to let threads load before i have to go off and do something else of grave importance. like go to the beach or something.

gem, Saturday, 10 March 2007 05:48 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, I want the jobs they have. Sounds like they have all the time in the world. A trip to the beach is always more important than any thread on the schminternet.

I think Nick has to go back up to Brissy for another Kr0me-related thing soon too. I thought it was today, but I guess not, cause er, he was still in bed when I left for work heh.

Trayce, Friday, 16 March 2007 04:42 (eighteen years ago)

Oh! Speaking of Nick, they've finally shipped Test Drive Unlimited PS2! His first properly shipped game WAAHOOOO.

Trayce, Friday, 16 March 2007 04:43 (eighteen years ago)

how's that stack up to the xboxen version, i wanna new racer

haitch, Friday, 16 March 2007 05:03 (eighteen years ago)

Pretty good, suprisingly, considering yr cramming next-gen into a PS2 framework. I havent seen the end results, but the demos Nick would bring home looked fine. They had to omit a few things to make it all fit - theres no motorbikes in the PS2 version for example - but the reviews have been good which he's pleased with :)

Trayce, Friday, 16 March 2007 05:31 (eighteen years ago)

In fact I think he said some stuff is better on the PS2, like the driving physics maybe?

Trayce, Friday, 16 March 2007 05:32 (eighteen years ago)

The mongrel thread is limping.

moley, Thursday, 22 March 2007 00:53 (eighteen years ago)

it is, a bit!

moley was 'stakker' humanoid' really your big 'converted to dance music' moment? i answered primal scream on that old thread but i think "Humanoid! Buc-buc-bow!" might've done it for me properly, too. in 1999!

haitch, Thursday, 22 March 2007 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

heard it on this mix - kit will rep for the greatness of this too, i bet.

haitch, Thursday, 22 March 2007 01:30 (eighteen years ago)

that mix is indeed mega-ace, but oh wow '99*! I loved Humanoid at the time, it was probably the most mental example of teh acid houses that I actually dug at that age. was big into the Bomb The Basses, the Coldcuts, any hip-house no matter how rubbish**, didn't "get" inner city. I was probably coming into dance music via Run DMC at the time (though I already loved Eurythmics [esp Savage] and Pet Shop Boys by then, in fairly rapid succession). my copy of Humanoid is a generic-sleeve 7" bought from a second-hand shop in Newcastle. I probably ruined the b-side scratching it on a plastic built-in turntable without a slipmat of any kind, that happened to quite a few of my records in high school.

*I was startled to see Col's citation of it on the thread too! ie so late for a dance conversion.
**to the point where, cooking dinner at friends' a few weeks ago, someone said the phrase "heat it up" and I replied "yeah, like the Wee Papa Girl Rappers" (and no-one knew what I was talking about. one of these people has a sister with a crush on me who is younger than that record. oy.). anyway when I read WARM IT UP MONGS I was going to scroll down and post "like the wee papa girl rappers!" oh jesus.

Trayce, Friday, 23 March 2007 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

moley was 'stakker' humanoid' really your big 'converted to dance music' moment? i answered primal scream on that old thread but i think "Humanoid! Buc-buc-bow!" might've done it for me properly, too. in 1999!
haitch

Yes, that was the one - I remember where I was and everything- it was like when Kennedy was shot, to use a lazy shorthand metapor in common currency. That would've been in 1989 though - so really there were earlier signs, I mean I was into house from about 1985, so... and yeah I was well into the whole Primal Scream / Weatherall thing too, not to mention On-U Sound. And hip hop was more like electro back in them early days, and I liked that stuff obviously. But, but, but... Humanoid was the baptism by 303. I was never absolutely MAD for dance music until that moment. It really was a conversion experience.

After that, I found all the acid house, then the Detroit stuff, and quickly became a fan of Mad Mike's UR output - and still am. Now most techno washes over me, but not Mad Mike, he's still a hero of mine. As for Dougans, he joined FSOL didn't he? I liked early FSOL, but I miss their up-for-it-and-in-yer-face thing - now thgey've gone all folktronica haven't they? Still sounds good to me, but I was and remain a mentalist with a preference for cheap, nasty, funky grooves. Raw jacking Chicago house is still very good to my body. The last epiphany I had was actually black metal band Beherit, so I've moved sideways a fair bit. Interestingly, I once read that the Beheriot dude is now a techno DJ - and there's weird commonalities between Beherit and UR, especially in their ambient interludes. I'm rambling aren't I. Feels good, bin a while since I rambled on ILX!

i was in year 8 in 1989. i was all about u2, simple minds and pink floyd in 1989, i had all of their tapes. which was relatively massively preferable to new kids on the block i suppose, that's what all my little buddies were into.

Amon Tobin - Permutation

Kate, non masonic, Monday, 26 March 2007 12:17 (eighteen years ago)

there is no way to disguise this, so i'm just gonna say it: the justin timberlake album.

haitch, Monday, 26 March 2007 12:18 (eighteen years ago)

That's fine, no flies on JT's recent material. How cool is Grace Jones' 'Nipple to the Bottle'? Maybe that's the track that got me into dance music, all those years ago.

moley, Monday, 26 March 2007 12:24 (eighteen years ago)

i have this which has grace covering aussie 'superstars' FLASH AND THE PAN! inna reggae style.

haitch, Monday, 26 March 2007 12:29 (eighteen years ago)

...and it's really good!

haitch, Monday, 26 March 2007 12:30 (eighteen years ago)

One of the greatest ever Aussie songs. That's on our Grace Jones compilation album too - maybe her best cover - it was on Countdown back in the day and I think it was a bit of a hit. I still remember the clip. That was her golden era - the original Flash & the Pan track, which I've only heard once or twice, is much darker even than that. As Rachael pointed out you can hear in this song the influence of the Fabulous Alex Harvey Band, just as you can on AccaDacca. Whatever happened to our Grace? She was the bestest.

moley, Monday, 26 March 2007 22:42 (eighteen years ago)

Or should that be the Sensational Alex Harvey Band? I think the latter.

moley, Monday, 26 March 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)

i am also a big rap for flash & the pan's 'midnight man' single, as i thnk is ILX's own tim finney.

I'll be up at obscene oclock tomorrow Ed so I'll try and leave the TV on for lulz.

I AM HAVING THE FIRST EASTER EGG OF TEH SEASON

Awesome.

I'm considering buying a cadbury cream egg as I haven't had one since I was about 10 or something.

I'm assuming there's a chance it's going to be horrendous.

Drooone, Thursday, 5 April 2007 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

There were easter eggs hidden all over our office today. I keep finding them in cupboards and cups and on door handles.

I dont even like chocolate.

Trayce, Thursday, 5 April 2007 04:06 (eighteen years ago)

Lung infection :(

Hoping it doesn't turn into full blown pneumonia again.

S-, Thursday, 5 April 2007 04:23 (eighteen years ago)

HI DERE.

The Clare? I'm from foreign and I don't know where these things are.

TV went well! I apparently looked like I didn't want to be there but hey, I don't wanna be anywhere.

I might be making a very unplanned Melbourne trip in 2ish weeks.

edwardo, Thursday, 5 April 2007 04:36 (eighteen years ago)

Everyone said the Clare was a pretty cool place to hang out. It is, but only because it's the only pub in Sydney that resembles many pubs in Melbourne.

S-, Thursday, 5 April 2007 04:41 (eighteen years ago)

Highlights from the Sidney Meyer Music Bowl last night:

1. Isla de Encanta & the rest of the Pixies set
2. Me nearly bumping into the singer from Phoenix as he was doing his walk down the aisles singing & being adored shtick because I was looking for my seat and eating a $4 bucket of chips at the same time
3. The Pixies stopping in the middle of the song to tell people to get rid of the stupid fukken V festival beach balls. Then starting on the note they stopped on (eventually)

Lowlights:
1. a security guard for every punter
2. Making the whole thing all ages when 99% of the audience were well over 18 and the under 18s were emos anyway, resulting in ridiculously crushed bar area
3. Most of the audience being coralled about 200m from the band

badg, Thursday, 5 April 2007 05:45 (eighteen years ago)

A part of me feels like I betrayed myself for not seeing the Pixies last night. I know I'll never get another chance. But I couldnt bring myself to go to a shithole like the Music Bowl and from what I'm hearing, they were awesome but it was painful standing on a hill in the cold.

Trayce, Thursday, 5 April 2007 05:53 (eighteen years ago)

Please listen to my Pandora station - I'm very proud of it. It has Air Supply, Micky Avalon, Electric Wizard, Sham 69, Adonis, Maggotron... how can you resist??

moley, Thursday, 5 April 2007 06:17 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah I was nearly too apathetic to go but got convinced in the end. The organisers certainly did everything in their power to make it a shitty experience. Scoring a ticket in the front section made all the difference.

badg, Thursday, 5 April 2007 06:19 (eighteen years ago)

moley i will listen!

i went to the bowl and pixies were awes. so were phoenix! jarvis was quite good too, even tho i knew sum total of one song from his set. fuck festivals tho, i am done with 'em (cept for meredith).

Nope not me - tiresome nostalgia - but how cool is The Chaser? Finally watched it and was blown away. Best Aust comedy ever. Also, Andrew Urban on comm station TVS with 'Front Up' - my all time favourite Aust tv program. used to be on SBS.

I don't suppose any Melbourne Mongrels want a cheap pair of tickets to the Edith Frost/ Richard Buckner show tomorrow night at the Corner? Hard like armour, Monday, 23 April 2007 06:50 (eighteen years ago)

Other erm, emotional crap upsided me in the head more recently tho, which is what's really messed me up, but that too is going ok. I'll be ok, its just been awhile since Ive had a good slump haha :)

estela, Friday, 27 April 2007 00:43 (eighteen years ago)

Oh man, I forgot about that Jamie dudepal.

totally vacuous that dude.

Drooone, Friday, 27 April 2007 00:49 (eighteen years ago)

You know, I have not watched a second of TV in months. Not a scrap. I am so out of the loop I'm not even reading the paper at the moment. World could fuckin' end and I'd be clueless.

Trayce, Friday, 27 April 2007 00:55 (eighteen years ago)

I didn't see any weepage from susannah. I did witness a truly scary conversation between TJ and some dude she'd been flirting to the max with. They were talking in a private room and there were these little indicators that he wasn't keen. So I shushed my own housemates saying I think something interesting's going to happen then he said he wasn't keen for action and she turned really, really mean. Gold!

badg, Friday, 27 April 2007 01:05 (eighteen years ago)

trayce you should watch for it a minute and check out susannah from south yarra, i think she prove be a true horrorshow. so far: 'i'm 30 but still amazingly hot guys! my implants! i'm not boring like other 30 years olds! i'm hot and i'm from south yarra! yay i'm a south yarra girl! i'm hot! i'm 30! i'm on the show to prove 30 years old aren't all married with 10 kids! oh no i'm in all this debt because of my fake sex and the city life, i'm not crying because it's ridiculous i'm crying because i need funding;_; etc etc'

xp lol tj is really awful too, like a rat guarding cheese.

estela, Friday, 27 April 2007 01:19 (eighteen years ago)

I am a reality TV tragic. It's interesting how perceptions of the BB housemates change between the daily shows and Uplate. I didn't take to Kate previously, but watching her unedited last night she came across as a completely different person.

How about those poor bastards in the white room. Surely they must snap soon from the sensory deprivation.

Hard like armour, Friday, 27 April 2007 01:23 (eighteen years ago)

I dont get how anyone is into BB, really, I keep trying to watch it and it is just so BORING, if I wanted to listen to the ramblings of morons I could just take my headphones off and listen to Windows Calendar Guy* who sits next to me.

*Curt1s gave him this name after the guy was *genuinely suprised* that Windows does, in fact, have a built-in calendar.

Trayce, Friday, 27 April 2007 01:25 (eighteen years ago)

Hard like armour, Friday, 27 April 2007 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

energy flash gordon, Sunday, 29 April 2007 13:20 (eighteen years ago)

In a similar vein, I find it surreal that, when flying to Melbourne, the taxi fare from the airport to the CBD is almost as much as the cost of the flight.

moley, Monday, 30 April 2007 01:10 (eighteen years ago)

Haha it is! It costs me over $50 for a taxi and I have paid something like $60 one way before so yeah. Ugh.

Trayce, Monday, 30 April 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

It's still better than paying $20 to spend quality time with bogans on the Airport Bus.

energy flash gordon, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:44 (eighteen years ago)

I may have mentioned this before, mongrels, but I am having to learn the rudiments of Second Life in order to have client meetings in there for work. I made myself a skinny Hassidic character called Schlomo Zerblinszky or something. He has curly black hair, a festive yellow shirt, and big black glasses. He reminds me of a wicked drummer I know. I need some assistance but the plan is to make him bald and give him a handlebar mo. That should help him pick up chicks hey?

I cannot see myself becoming a fan, even with the sordid attractions of a red light district. Me: 'But I need to go there, that's where all the musicians are'. Them: '...'. Me: 'Can I at least be a woman?'. Them: '...' . For me, one of the few attractions of SL is the opportunity to find out what it's like to be a member of the opposite sex. And they are denying me even this.

that sounds awfully restrictive! i'd have thought it'd be all people with televisions for heads and stuff.

haitch, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 23:48 (eighteen years ago)

There's plenty of that for those that can be arsed (not me - my real life is busy enough). In fact, there's even a dude who looks like Duchamp's nude descending a staircase. Then of course lots of sexy birds and handsome boys looking flash. I want to look like me - also I want to look a little ugly and normal, it appeals to my sense of humour.

moley, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 00:39 (eighteen years ago)

Aha, I think I misunderstood you. The restrictions are simply part of the culture and legislation that are associated with working for the govt - you can't take it too far out there, not for this job.

moley, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 00:42 (eighteen years ago)

We can has more BB discussion?

Drooone, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 00:43 (eighteen years ago)

Drooone, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 00:48 (eighteen years ago)

Hi Mr Lynch.

moley, Thursday, 3 May 2007 01:12 (eighteen years ago)

Hello mr lynch (almost called you mr lunch). Yay, so you two were the others who voted Syd-e-ney in the Where are you poll? I was feeling a bit lonely amongst all these Melburnians and Queenslanders.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 3 May 2007 01:14 (eighteen years ago)

Hallo mrlynch! We seem to has a few new mongrels lately. Drooone is from Sydders too isnt he?

Trayce, Thursday, 3 May 2007 01:21 (eighteen years ago)

HAL, kit is a Sydneysider too!

(I cant keep up with wtf his username is anymore tho)

Trayce, Thursday, 3 May 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

HAL? HLA I meant. Yeesh. Haha.

Trayce, Thursday, 3 May 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

Hi there. HLA: I didn't vote in the where-are-you poll so there must be others.

mrlynch, Thursday, 3 May 2007 01:23 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, I've completely lost track of who is who except for a few of you.

moley, Thursday, 3 May 2007 01:31 (eighteen years ago)

I'm a bro. Maybe I need to do a bit more posting like this: anyone see the last FHM? Phwoar!!!

Chances are I possibly do know some of them Trayce, particularly if they're around the 30 age bracket. Perthonalities do seem to stick together for sure. Most of my mates here are people from Perth that I didn't know back there but are only separated by a degree or two.

badg, Thursday, 3 May 2007 04:02 (eighteen years ago)

Most of my Perth frenz are more the 22-30 bracket I think. Goth and indie types mostly. Brett, Adam, Najda, Nat, Lauren... the only older perthian I know is H*yden Bl4ck.

Trayce, Thursday, 3 May 2007 04:08 (eighteen years ago)

Drooone, Thursday, 3 May 2007 04:31 (eighteen years ago)

Yes that Heffernan is quite the fuckwit. Has he failed to realise that women are now allowed to vote?

Not ringing any bells Trayce. Pretty much everyone knows me as badger, a nickname that has stuck to me like shit to a blanket.

badg, Thursday, 3 May 2007 04:51 (eighteen years ago)

the Heff's "apology" last night was the most insincere I've ever seen on telly

mrlynch, Thursday, 3 May 2007 04:55 (eighteen years ago)

Tis the season of public holidays. Qld Labour Day on Monday. :D

Drooone, Thursday, 3 May 2007 05:45 (eighteen years ago)

when referring to the fact that I don't exist it is mostly that I am not on ILX at all and am thus fading from the ILX hiveminds' collective consciousness. I hope to remain in the thoughts of the mongfuxxors before I vanish entirely.

On the plus side, life's fucking grand at the moment.

edwardo, Thursday, 3 May 2007 05:53 (eighteen years ago)

tell us more!

haitch, Thursday, 3 May 2007 05:55 (eighteen years ago)

i'm hoping life gets grand again soon. to get to this point is almost certainly going to necessitate a change of employment.

electricsound, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:04 (eighteen years ago)

I am unlikely to change jobs in the foreseeable future as I am unaware of any other employer that would pay me to read ILX all day.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:19 (eighteen years ago)

I like the way my job is developing. I pick my own hours and call all the shots. Awesome!

Kate, non masonic, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:21 (eighteen years ago)

I cant change jobs when I dont even know if I will be living on my own or not in the immediate future, which is kinda frusatrating cause I hate this job.

Trayce, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:21 (eighteen years ago)

I am unaware of any other employer that would pay me to read ILX all day.

mine doesn't. i r sick today

electricsound, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:22 (eighteen years ago)

Kate, you have the best job ever. Trayce, that sucks that you are trapped for now. I hope things sort themselves out for you.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:23 (eighteen years ago)

i'm hoping life gets grand again soon. to get to this point is almost certainly going to necessitate a change of employment.

otm.

haitch, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:25 (eighteen years ago)

Life is not grand for me and I doubt if anyone would want to employ me because my resume kinda sucks now kthx to this US visa debacle. Back to square one, back in Adelaide...not good at all. I need to sit down and figure out a way to get a job in Melbourne so I can move there and feel better about myself. Gahhh, life is so not cool, mongs.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:29 (eighteen years ago)

Moving to melbourne wont solve all your probs phil!

Trayce, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:30 (eighteen years ago)

i think the powers that be here want me to be a middle manager. my two predecessors have both said "don't do it, find another job"! (xp)

haitch, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:31 (eighteen years ago)

I knooooow, Trayce! But I can't stay in Adelaide. Brisbane is my second option, btw.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:31 (eighteen years ago)

On the plus side you are alive, unlike my landlord who I found out died this week.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

does that mean you get to keep the house?

electricsound, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:38 (eighteen years ago)

ewww middle manager.. sounds awful. i have applied for systems analyst job, if i don't get it (fairly likely) i am going to scarper and be a contractor. right now (but who knows for how long) it's an employee's market for my type of job

electricsound, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:39 (eighteen years ago)

My dog died last week before all the visa trouble and being sent back home.

It's like my life has turned into a country song or summthin.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:42 (eighteen years ago)

That's fucked man. Condolences to you.

Drooone, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:44 (eighteen years ago)

(xp) it's funny because if they'd asked a year ago i woulda bitten their hand off to get the job. one year on i realise how unrealistic the management expectations are. and at a "community" organisation, too! i'd rater go corporate and get paid big ca$$$$h now, they've beaten the altruistic streak out of me.

think i like being secure too much to go short-term, unfortunately.

haitch, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:47 (eighteen years ago)

i'm sorry you're having such a rotten time esteban, i hope something good happens for you soon, rip doggie.

estela, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:51 (eighteen years ago)

You poor bastard. Shitty events all seem to happen at once huh? Sorry about your dog. Hearing those sorts of stories always puts my minor hassles into perspective. At first I was pissed off at the thought of having to move again, but I would rather be in my position than my landlord's.

Hard like armour, Thursday, 3 May 2007 06:51 (eighteen years ago)

Life is grand because my thesis is nearly done, I'm having that modest but much wanted overseas trip I've wanted for a few years now, I love the people I live with, have slightly more money than I predicted I would have given the fact that I've moved twice and yet I still have the freedom to come and go as I please.

:( for Esteban. Kick America on your way out for all of us. But don't move to Brisbane! Don't settle, keep trying to make Melbourne happen. (I am considering moving there at some point if I can find a decent job).

edwardo, Thursday, 3 May 2007 07:01 (eighteen years ago)

Hang in there Esteban.

Kate, that SL moment was a classic - caused much amusement at my office. There were other staff gathered around the computer.

moley, Thursday, 3 May 2007 07:03 (eighteen years ago)

Sorry if this is nosey but the curiosity is too much (I think it was the Arrrgh Ah that got me), what is SL?

Hard like armour, Thursday, 3 May 2007 07:17 (eighteen years ago)

It's, in effect, a bulletin board with a pseudo -3D graphic display that you can exist in, and walk around in, with a graphic avatar. You can dress the character, make stuff, do stuff, walk around etc etc. Imagine if you could be a character in the Sims. Alternatively, you might like to think of it as real life, but on your computer screen, and much geekier, but with greater capacity for fantasy than the real world permits. I have to confess, it is delightful but unlikely to hook me in. You have to put time into this to make it work, and have a base level of skill and concentration. I don't have any of that stuff. Only the seamier side of it would keep me interested, and, ahem, I get plenty of that in real life already. What do you think Kate?

You can get a better handle on it from this link:

http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/

moley, Thursday, 3 May 2007 07:24 (eighteen years ago)

There's also this thread which went nowhere... it's not really an ILE thing.

http://ilx.wh3rd.net/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid=40&threadid=52735

moley, Thursday, 3 May 2007 07:32 (eighteen years ago)

I keep telling Nick he should make a living building 3d models in secondlife for ppl who cant do so themselves. He'd make a killing.

Trayce, Thursday, 3 May 2007 07:41 (eighteen years ago)

Secondlife kind of bites. You get over the rooting part pretty quick (seconds flat) and then it's like...meh. But conducting meetings and stuff like that would be fun, I mostly just wander around trolling for the hell of it.

..If you think that was funny Moley, you should've seen what "I" had on.

Kate, non masonic, Thursday, 3 May 2007 08:24 (eighteen years ago)

Speaking of, I found a site selling off all of Mimi from the Drew Carey shows costumes.

http://www.backlotprops.com/index.asp?ORIGIN=ip&PRODCODE=DCS&PAGETYPE=results&LI=g

....so now I can finally find unique clothing in my size! I seriously think I'm going to buy this one for a joke:

Kate, non masonic, Thursday, 3 May 2007 08:32 (eighteen years ago)

We saw what you didn't have on Kate - so you're a pole dancer on SL? I was thinking I'd like to take on female form, discover what it's like to be hassled constantly etc. Could be a good tonic for my male ego.

moley, Thursday, 3 May 2007 09:39 (eighteen years ago)

BTW you should definitely buy that costume.

moley, Thursday, 3 May 2007 09:40 (eighteen years ago)

No, I'm not a pole dancer!! Really!

and yes, I think I might. Would be handy for a fancy dress costume!

Kate, non masonic, Thursday, 3 May 2007 09:47 (eighteen years ago)

You're not a pole dancer? Why the hell not?

moley, Thursday, 3 May 2007 10:00 (eighteen years ago)

I would be. Or maybe a furry.

moley, Thursday, 3 May 2007 10:00 (eighteen years ago)

Nah, Furries suck. My tutor for The International Avant Garde in 3 rd year was one, and she was the most irritating person I've ever met.

Kate, non masonic, Thursday, 3 May 2007 11:51 (eighteen years ago)

I am Kit and this is my username. Register in haste, regret not knowing we wouldn't be able to change handles at leisure ;_;

So much mongrel action! I totally thought HLA and Drooone were Melb-mongs and you all knew who they were on old-ILX and I was too out of the loop to keep track. I'm not especially good at knowing who anyone is in the first place.

Yes, gaz is mostly busy but also doesn't like the look of ilx.2 much, it puts him off. Ed we will endeavour to enlarge the loop to include you next time we beer! which might be this week. I might be around the thread a bit more soon, have one of those changes of employment (though not employer) next week. I recommend all trapped-mongs to look and apply for other jobs, you'll totally feel better about yourselves just from the focus and proactiveness. blood diamonds to all.

energy flash gordon, Thursday, 3 May 2007 12:45 (eighteen years ago)

I was HLA on old ilx, but I was mostly a stinkin' lurker. It has only been recently that I have started conversing with mongs & others.

SL looks like a sophisticated version of Cybertown. My sis & I used to be addicted to Sims, so of course we got right into Cybertown. I know it sounds juvenile, but we'd end up in hysterics when we met up in there by trying to outdo each other with filthy insults. The novelty of hearing obscenities so typical of the other person come out in computerized voice took a long time to wear off. Kate, we pretty much wandered around trolling other people too (not maliciously of course).

Hard like armour, Thursday, 3 May 2007 23:25 (eighteen years ago)

You know you're a true mongrel when...you can't listen to Wire's "Dot Dash" without doing the Dot Dash Dance as introduced to you by a certain mong at the Corner.

Uuuurgh I feel sick and my job sucks someone pls put me out of my miserrryyyyeeee

Trayce, Monday, 7 May 2007 00:55 (eighteen years ago)

I was going to go to the tetris comp, but instead sat on my fat arse and watched 'The Running Man'.

Arnie said "I'll be back"!

When that finished I started watching TV and 'Twins' came on.

Again Arnie said "I'll be back"!

What a day.

S-, Monday, 7 May 2007 06:05 (eighteen years ago)

But did you watch Arnie whilst sitting in the beanbag?

King Boy Pato, Monday, 7 May 2007 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

The beanbag I have gone our separate ways.

S-, Monday, 7 May 2007 07:32 (eighteen years ago)

_and_

S-, Monday, 7 May 2007 07:32 (eighteen years ago)

the beanbag had to undergo some emergency repairs recently, it had one (1) hole in it.

haitch, Monday, 7 May 2007 07:32 (eighteen years ago)

Erm... dare I ask?

Trayce, Monday, 7 May 2007 07:37 (eighteen years ago)

You should've chewed it up and used the resultant paste...

S-, Monday, 7 May 2007 07:51 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks, we all needed reminding.

moley, Monday, 7 May 2007 08:24 (eighteen years ago)

What what what what what? Whaaaaaaaaaat?

King Boy Pato, Monday, 7 May 2007 08:47 (eighteen years ago)

I assume S was referring to that awful post where Markelby told us how he ate Pringles. Sorry in advance to Merkelby for bringing it up too, I know he's a bit over being teased about it. Gawd, though, what an image.

moley, Monday, 7 May 2007 08:54 (eighteen years ago)

Kit was quite photogenic, there were lots of good ones. We actually had a pretty awesome night I think!

Kate, non masonic, Monday, 7 May 2007 11:47 (eighteen years ago)

Hi gem! Great photo KitKate.

moley, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:10 (eighteen years ago)

Here's another. Possibly a bit too photoshopped :)

Will email you some more throughout the week Kit.

Kate, non masonic, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:12 (eighteen years ago)

giving that michael white bloke a run for his money there kit. that one's a bit dorian gray.

gem, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:18 (eighteen years ago)

moley, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:19 (eighteen years ago)

My typical fare?

Kate, non masonic, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:24 (eighteen years ago)

We actually had a pretty awesome night I think

yes indeed!

that last one is great, in no way over-photoshopped

energy flash gordon, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:55 (eighteen years ago)

Not typical, but characteristic.

moley, Monday, 7 May 2007 12:59 (eighteen years ago)

Playful classicism? I'm not sure if that really describes it.

moley, Monday, 7 May 2007 13:05 (eighteen years ago)

kate's photos make me think of slightly naughty victorian types. that might be wildly offtrack but i think about how victorians were always portrayed as being uptight and repressed, but really there must have been plenty of fun ones too...

gem, Monday, 7 May 2007 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

Kit played the part of the foppish dandy incredibly well! I was astounded.

Kate, non masonic, Monday, 7 May 2007 20:13 (eighteen years ago)

Awesome! Hehe next time Nick is in Brissy you should do some really over the top gothic stuff with him or something Kate :D Hes often up in fort vly for work.

the comeback kinda stalled there for a few days, huh.

haitch, Friday, 11 May 2007 04:23 (eighteen years ago)

Argh Ah, you'll like my stylish Jewish/NY avatar.

moley, Friday, 11 May 2007 04:26 (eighteen years ago)

Haitch don't call it a comeback. We've been here for years.

Trayce, Friday, 11 May 2007 04:30 (eighteen years ago)

This is like The Ketchup Show, which I saw for the first time today.

King Boy Pato, Friday, 11 May 2007 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

i don't even know what that is!

haitch, Friday, 11 May 2007 05:04 (eighteen years ago)

well Kate you sure have a way with fahion shapeshifting on SL - I'll say one thing for that place - Women be shopping!!

moley, Friday, 11 May 2007 05:34 (eighteen years ago)

A stark contrast from the real world where I wear the same three things in rotation every week :)

Kate, non masonic, Friday, 11 May 2007 06:41 (eighteen years ago)

aha, so you are your opposite on SL? I loved those twiggy wings you sprouted.

moley, Friday, 11 May 2007 07:26 (eighteen years ago)

I liked them too but because Quick Time has some glitch for me on there I don't actually see them myself anymore. They are just blocky polygons which is annoying.

Kate, non masonic, Friday, 11 May 2007 10:15 (eighteen years ago)

that's crap. we should post a piccy of Arrgh Ah talking to Schlomo for the mongrels.

moley, Friday, 11 May 2007 11:17 (eighteen years ago)

Incidentally, R's contempt for SL knows no bounds. This is a geek too far as far as she's concerned. I have to ask - how do people have sex on SL? Do you stick various moves in your inventory and then hit shortcut keys to activate them, while typing 'Oooh aah' with your free hand?

moley, Friday, 11 May 2007 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

You use these posing balls. Click on them and they send your character/avatar into throes of passion in varying positions. When you purchase genitals, deluxe models come with built in sound effects, and uhh...bodily functions. If you're a bit...ahem...tight, you can have your man bits or lady bits without all the whistles and bells, and get a sound pack further down the line. It really is all a bit complex and as a result got old really quick.

I guess it would be okay if you actually knew people who used it or used it for business purposes, thats where the true longevity lies.

Kate, non masonic, Friday, 11 May 2007 12:16 (eighteen years ago)

OK Kate, you've opened a CAN of worms. I have so many questions, bear with me...

* 'When you purchase genitals..' - what a sterling phrase to drop into a conversation. How much does a cock cost? Doe you pay more for size?

* Whistles and bells? What, like piercings?

* Genitals with sound effects? I'm sorry, you can't just say that and move on. WHAAAAAT?

Was any of it good or even interesting? Was there an enjoyably creative or kooky factor? Did you try changing sex? What was that like?

You don't have to answer any of these questions of course.

moley, Friday, 11 May 2007 12:25 (eighteen years ago)

I'm with Col here, WTF dudes! SL sounds like some kind of twisted movie dystopia wtf wtf!

Trayce, Friday, 11 May 2007 12:31 (eighteen years ago)

Hi Trayce.

moley, Friday, 11 May 2007 12:33 (eighteen years ago)

Hey Andy, whats up in Syddeerneyland? I just got back from the pub.

Trayce, Friday, 11 May 2007 12:35 (eighteen years ago)

Well nothin much really. I remain astonished by existence. Apart from that, all is well. Garage sale tomorrow. R advertsied it as starting at 7am!! When I asked why, she said, 'Because garage sales start early'. That was her reason!!

In other news, I had a marvellously bizarre encounter with Kate in SL, where she basically changed her appearance constantly through the entire conversation, at one point sprouting wings! It was like being in Dr Who, but sort of merged with Jackie Collins.

moley, Friday, 11 May 2007 12:40 (eighteen years ago)

Sydney's still shit - how are you?

moley, Friday, 11 May 2007 12:41 (eighteen years ago)

I am awesome! I would go into details but on here alas I cannot. Suffice to say, I am very very happy at the moment. Also, drunk :) The two are not related. But the Cocteaus are playing, which is also good.

Trayce, Friday, 11 May 2007 12:55 (eighteen years ago)

Will talk more SL tomorrow Moley, I'm off to bed as I too am a wee bit intoxicated.

Kate, non masonic, Friday, 11 May 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)

That's cool haitch - that's potato with potato .

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

electricsound, Saturday, 12 May 2007 11:59 (eighteen years ago)

jim, turn on the tellie ffs - you're missing Andorra's entry. They will win the Euro this year. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST. Remember, I tipped Lordi last year.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:08 (eighteen years ago)

Haha they sound like Blink 182!

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:09 (eighteen years ago)

hungary's singer is a fancy piece

electricsound, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:12 (eighteen years ago)

did she say cold champagne or kosher pain?

electricsound, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:14 (eighteen years ago)

Kosher pain is what I went through every Friday at Synagogue. It must be cold champagne surely? Rachael is trying to tell me that Pink is no better than this.

A lot of fit birds this year, as the poms might say. But the same old Europap in the songwriting dept. Damn it, Hungary, those precitable Eurokistch tunes songs never win. NEVER! Wake up! And yet 90% of the Euro is composed of these songs - oh look, here's Estonia with another predictable Euro anthem with all the most precitable progressions and harmonies. Why? Why? These songs are like packing tissue.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:16 (eighteen years ago)

I love these bits about Norway in between the songs though. Damn those Norwegians are perverted.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:17 (eighteen years ago)

belgium's entry doesn't sound anything like huggy bear

electricsound, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:19 (eighteen years ago)

No, I agree - perhaps he's referring to Snoop Dogg's charatcer in that Strarsky and Hutch movie. Oh right, you were joking - I am drunk and slow tonight.

This Belgian guy - this song and dance is what he does for the pleasure of some extremely rich and powerful Belgian drug baron, then he gets taken from behind.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:20 (eighteen years ago)

And the cry he ends the song with is what he says at the precise moment he gets taken.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:20 (eighteen years ago)

At last - a hot goth chick! From Slovenia, no less.

I'm reminded of Evanescence.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:24 (eighteen years ago)

Bring back Terry Wogan hey.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:24 (eighteen years ago)

'She likes it sweet and low' - is that the lyric?

electricsound, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:26 (eighteen years ago)

That's bang on the money - he does look like that, for sure.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:27 (eighteen years ago)

'Shake it up, shake it in'....?

So she services him and then he makes her swill it around for a while. What an arsehole hey?

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:28 (eighteen years ago)

electricsound, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:40 (eighteen years ago)

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:41 (eighteen years ago)

woo! hmm, difficult to say - andorra??

i'm yet to hear anything approaching an original melody from any of em

electricsound, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:42 (eighteen years ago)

Big disappointment from Norway this year - they shoulda gone even further out on the Lordi tip, and gone for Mayhem.

Andorra? Flat but refreshing. No fresh tunes at the Euro this year.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 12:42 (eighteen years ago)

I'm gonna give it to Slovenia. Cos it's nuts and gothic. Do you think Trayce would like it?

Last night I dreamed Mick Jagger wanted me to do a dub version of the last Stones album, 'A Bigger Bang'. I was to call it 'A Bigger Bong'.

moley, Saturday, 12 May 2007 23:38 (eighteen years ago)

someone put out a bootleg of 'under my thumb' done over in a dub style recently, it was of course called 'under my dub' and to be honest i would've been disappointed if it'd been called anything else.

haitch, Sunday, 13 May 2007 05:32 (eighteen years ago)

If it were a dancehall track, it could easily been called 'Under Mi Thumbtumb'.

moley, Sunday, 13 May 2007 05:47 (eighteen years ago)

i am quite fond of the broader reggae genre but i find myself incapable of distinguishing between dub, dancehall, ragga etc etc styles. i guess ska ok because of the brass.

Now there is a gothic still life, and it looks very like an oil painting.

Yes, I must admit I like Brooce far more than my 2003 comment implies. Dancing in the Dark is great. Still prefer Don Henley though.

Kate, non masonic, Sunday, 13 May 2007 10:44 (eighteen years ago)

lol eurovision lol: Mad props to Ukraine, who I think want to be the new Germany in terms of wacky acts. Mad props to Germany too with the 20s/30s thing that fitted in with Terry Wogan's plea to exterminate the Slavs.

King Boy Pato, Monday, 14 May 2007 01:58 (eighteen years ago)

Kate, why does Skeletor like tomato? Is it a metaphor?

I have new camera, maybe I should start the photographing...

King Boy Pato, Monday, 14 May 2007 01:59 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, WTF is up with those tacky frangipani stickers on the backs of cars? I'm always spotting these fckn things. Are they simply aesthetic? Or are they some kind of feminist badge (I only see women with them)or something?
Is it a purely Australian problem?
oh god.

Trayce, Monday, 14 May 2007 07:19 (eighteen years ago)

I saw Bastard Boys - was pretty good, better than I was expecting. Thought Jack Thompson stole every scene he was in.

I'm on late shift tonight so am having the second half taped.

Had to tape Eurovision. (it's good to see some love for it here, most of my friends fail to see the point of watching it and seem to think my love for it is a sign of madness.)

Haha, they aren't even pomegranates, although some of them would've been nice. They're persimmons.

Emo John Howard crying that nobody loves him looks like a real vote winner, especially if Peter Costello can spare a few million on mascara for them eyebrows.

King Boy Pato, Thursday, 17 May 2007 04:22 (eighteen years ago)

I crashed an after-party on SL and was invited to dance. I cut quite a rug and earned a round of applause. I didn't realise being a good dancer was simply a matter of clicking on the right buttons.

moley, Thursday, 17 May 2007 06:39 (eighteen years ago)

If only that was the case IRL.

Kate, non masonic, Thursday, 17 May 2007 06:58 (eighteen years ago)

yes.

moley, Thursday, 17 May 2007 07:00 (eighteen years ago)

clearly, you have to put a lot of work intop this thing for it to turn into a creative exercise. I doubt I have the time. But I do like it, it's fun, like ILX only hornier.

moley, Thursday, 17 May 2007 07:04 (eighteen years ago)

how is that fun at all?

S-, Thursday, 17 May 2007 07:12 (eighteen years ago)

Well... all I can say is, ILX is fun for me. Also, I like sexy, esp music and women. And SL appears to be sexier than ILX, though not as sexy as being in a club dancing to real music, surrounded by real women. Which is my idea of ULTIMATE fun, and has been for many years now. Therein lies potential frustration with SL - there is some artificiality involved, no question. But I know what the doubters and non-geeks (including my first and only true love, who is my lover still and will be, I hope, till I die) say about geeky activities like this, and I will say to you what I have said to her: this is a great tool for meeting real people in real life who are creative and interesting - eventually, you meet them. She didn't believe me once, but I've been proved right, to her satisfaction, on this point. However, even though I am a geek, I understand what she's getting at. So my inner jury is still out. I have not judged yet.

Trayce, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:21 (eighteen years ago)

Trayce, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:22 (eighteen years ago)

Trayce, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:22 (eighteen years ago)

haitch, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:24 (eighteen years ago)

):

Drooone, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:25 (eighteen years ago)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Oh wait, I dont watch channel 9 anyway. Hah!

Trayce, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:40 (eighteen years ago)

the entirety of television i've watched this week:

last night's 7.30 report
one (1) episode of 'gilmore girls'
random foxtel on tuesday nite @ parents' place, including something called 'how to look good naked'!

haitch, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:44 (eighteen years ago)

I think I've only watched South Park on Monday. And I've hit SBS news a coupla times. Srsly, how much of a cock is Stan Grant.
Would the Enus was on the earlier programme.

Drooone, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:47 (eighteen years ago)

TV watched by me: several Flying Circus episodes from the new DVD box set Nick got me. Thats it.

I've spent the rest of my time on intarwebs. I'm.... extremely preoccupied at the moment.

Trayce, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

i sorta can't take anton enus seriously, every time i hear his name i think 'anton anus' and that can really alter your perception of a person.

haitch, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:52 (eighteen years ago)

I've watched quite a bit of tv on dvd this week, yuh. Aqua Teen Hunger Force (even though I've seen every ep a milly times) and Phoenix Nights primarily.

xp but the Enus has such a soothing voice. and he comes across as a really nice dude, unlike the Grant who looks like he couldn't give two shits.

Drooone, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:56 (eighteen years ago)

Haha its like Indira Naidoo, I keep hearing her say her name and think she's about to say "I'm indeed and I dont"

Trayce, Friday, 18 May 2007 00:56 (eighteen years ago)

stan grant was a weird choice for SBS. was no-one else available??

haitch, Friday, 18 May 2007 01:00 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah its a bit of a jump from Today Tonight, and he looks so weird and fake-tanned as well.

Trayce, Friday, 18 May 2007 01:18 (eighteen years ago)

Hey Trayce, have you heard of a melbourne gothy outfit called Op3ra Macabr3?

Kate, non masonic, Friday, 18 May 2007 01:26 (eighteen years ago)

Trayce do you know some dude from WA called St34n? Seriously if you do you couldn't miss him.

S-, Friday, 18 May 2007 02:14 (eighteen years ago)

Kate: no, can't say I have! Goth local scenes pretty small too. Huh.

Sash: that name rings a bell. Hm. Does he have some other name online?

Trayce, Friday, 18 May 2007 02:34 (eighteen years ago)

drank entire bottle of wine over dinner last night. ooof.

haitch, Monday, 21 May 2007 00:11 (eighteen years ago)

when i say "over dinner", that's not a repeat of the vodka on chips episode of last week, thankfully.

haitch, Monday, 21 May 2007 00:16 (eighteen years ago)

nice. I drank a lot of white wine last night and went to bed really late, now I'm struggling at work.

Drooone, Monday, 21 May 2007 00:17 (eighteen years ago)

I'm meeting friend from perth for a drink after work. I hope I dont overdo it eep.

Trayce, Monday, 21 May 2007 01:03 (eighteen years ago)

nah you should go and get bladdered.

haitch, Monday, 21 May 2007 03:44 (eighteen years ago)

On a Monday?! Go hard or go home eh? :D

Trayce, Monday, 21 May 2007 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

yes!!

haitch, Monday, 21 May 2007 03:52 (eighteen years ago)

Go hard, then go home.

(and call in sick tomorrow)`

S-, Monday, 21 May 2007 04:51 (eighteen years ago)

A bunch of drunkards all! Just my type of people. :)

Hard like armour, Monday, 21 May 2007 07:00 (eighteen years ago)

Hahah Ive gone hard and called in sick way wayyyy too much this last couple of months.

The other day I got up, got dressed, thought "fuck it, I dont want to work today", smoked some weed and then called in "sick".

I am terrible.

Trayce, Monday, 21 May 2007 07:06 (eighteen years ago)

Nah, just ballsy. I am always too gutless to chuck sickies. Even when I really am sick, I sound like I am lying.

Hard like armour, Monday, 21 May 2007 07:12 (eighteen years ago)

I am visiting the Neighbours set for the first time tomorrow. Any tips? Messages for Harold?

spectra, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 15:01 (eighteen years ago)

ask him to chop out a line for you

electricsound, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)

Tell him to bring back the tuba playing. I really enjoyed that storyline.

moley, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 22:43 (eighteen years ago)

Didn't he turn into Bad Harold for a while? Like Mr Bad on E Street.

Hard like armour, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)

hey Moley! I just got a press release thingy about (I presume) the results of your Second Life investigations.

energy flash gordon, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 00:13 (eighteen years ago)

ah yes I think I heard something about that on the radio this morning too.

haitch, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 00:43 (eighteen years ago)

The publicity campaign is gearing up. I'm still bumping my character into walls however.Considering everyone calls me a nerd all the time, it's amazing what a klutz I am with technology. Perhaps a nerd is a geek with no technology skills.

moley, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 00:53 (eighteen years ago)

meanwhile in other second life news, ABC island gets pwned!!

haitch, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 01:24 (eighteen years ago)

this is hilarious:

In the most infamous case, vandals last year unleashed images of flying phalluses into a meeting attended by a Chinese property developer, whose avatar goes by the name of Anshe Chung, making her abandon the event.

haitch, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 01:25 (eighteen years ago)

phalluses, or phalii??

haitch, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

hey kate - I am going to have to give that money you gave me back - a conflict of interest you see - potential allegations of bribery! - so get online baby.

moley, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 01:52 (eighteen years ago)

Huh? Bribery? What did I "bribe" you to do? :)

Kate, non masonic, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 02:30 (eighteen years ago)

Nothing, of course, Mme Oboru - yet! Appearance is everything however. get on SL now?

moley, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 04:05 (eighteen years ago)

Sorry, I went out. I will log in now for a tic.

haitch, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 04:47 (eighteen years ago)

it was always a dream to work for a fleet street paper. imagine getting to make up things all day long, then get them printed!

haitch, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 04:50 (eighteen years ago)

I handed back my ill gotten gains. BTW Kate prefers me in my velvet jacket - you'll be happy to know Kate that I've now got permission to wear it over my t-shirt.

moley, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 05:01 (eighteen years ago)

Much hotter. I will have to "virtually" root you sometime...but ONLY in the velvet jacket you hear me?!

Kate, non masonic, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 05:36 (eighteen years ago)

well, gosh.

haitch, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 05:45 (eighteen years ago)

I'm joking ffs, I don't even go on there anymore.

Kate, non masonic, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 05:53 (eighteen years ago)

OK the jacket's going back on again, that's settled.

moley, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 06:17 (eighteen years ago)

what a cheeky little nose that minx has.

moley, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 08:40 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, she is part Anglo-Australian, part Malaysian. She has done modeling for Versace in HK, so she is quite experienced which is a bit of a change for me.
