Can't be bothered to get the old one unlocked so a fresh start, in both ways.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADJUST YOUR GEOMETRY SET!!!

The ILX supergroup are back with a multidimensional flexible lineup, a new album in the spacetime pipeline and some gigs in the near future.

Keep watching this thread for updates. We intend to have a completely different line-up for every gig., so if you would like to play with Shimura Curves, leave us a note telling us what you play and we will see.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 26 February 2007 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

And we'll be playing a How Does It Feel Night at the Luminaire in April when the Payne Sisters are back from India.

(For those of you with images turned off, it's a giant flying aardvark-bat advertising a Night of the Long Swords club night at the Brixton Windmill, Saturday 3rd March with THE TELESCOPES, Flowers of Hell, People's Revolutionary Choir and Shimura Curves.)

Masonic Boom, Monday, 26 February 2007 11:24 (eighteen years ago)

SO upset I've gotta miss this!

POWER TRIO.

G00blar, Monday, 26 February 2007 11:25 (eighteen years ago)

Oh man, what you need is a balalaika player! I've never saw you play before, so I hope come to this!

Tom D., Monday, 26 February 2007 11:28 (eighteen years ago)

Does this mean that any (inevitable) mistakes I make can be attributed to having a free jazz wig out?

Ed, Monday, 26 February 2007 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

That's improv, folks

Tom D., Monday, 26 February 2007 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

You can be in our band again at the next gig. We always need dancing boys!

Masonic Boom, Monday, 26 February 2007 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

(I hope hope hope that's directed towards me)

G00blar, Monday, 26 February 2007 11:31 (eighteen years ago)

That was an x-post to G00blar, but yes, we could do with a bailailaika as well!

Ed, if you make a mistake once, it's improv. If you make the same mistake twice, it's jamming.

It's going to be rather different from previous Shimuras gigs, due to the curtailment of the harmonies due to well, the Payne sisters being in India and Sande Memory Machine getting NODULES and being told by her doctor NOT TO SING. But we hope that the SPACEROCK and the free jazz element will make up for this.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 26 February 2007 11:33 (eighteen years ago)

sounds superb! Good to see that you're back on the Curvie horse

Ste, Monday, 26 February 2007 11:50 (eighteen years ago)

Say hello to Stephen Telescope for me. Can I join at some point?

emil.y, Monday, 26 February 2007 12:20 (eighteen years ago)

It would be FANTASTIC if you played with us some time, Emily!

Masonic Boom, Monday, 26 February 2007 12:22 (eighteen years ago)

Yay! Here's a picture of a synthesizer:

http://www.synthony.com/vintage/vintage.images/pro1.jpg

emil.y, Monday, 26 February 2007 12:25 (eighteen years ago)

Awesome! Now we need a picture of Astrocat playing us the Symphony of Space!

I think this is what Frances plays:

http://www.synrise.de/html/ms-20.jpg

She has played with the Telescopes before and says that they are lovely, so I am double looking forward to the gig now.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 26 February 2007 12:28 (eighteen years ago)

do you need a support band?

ken c, Monday, 26 February 2007 12:47 (eighteen years ago)

We *are* the support band!

But we may need to start discussing ILX0rpollooza again.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 26 February 2007 12:55 (eighteen years ago)

Oh yeah, Ed!

F and I have turned "Hung With Joy" into a 6 and a half minute spacerock exploration extravaganza.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 26 February 2007 13:05 (eighteen years ago)

Super double excited now after seeing the Flowers of Hell last night!

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 13:47 (eighteen years ago)

did you talk to them? i know one of them, the one called gregg.

emsk, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 13:49 (eighteen years ago)

I talked to the violinist. I don't think her name was Gregg, though. I am about to listen to the CD.

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 13:50 (eighteen years ago)

Ah, the inside of the CD says that Greg plays guitar - maybe he was the one with the experimental facial hair? There were about a million of them onstage. I've no idea how they will fit on the Windmill's stage.

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 13:53 (eighteen years ago)

yes, experimental facial hair, that sounds like him. really lovely guy, peculiar accent. anything is possible at the windmill.

emsk, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 13:53 (eighteen years ago)

He has a fantastic shirt. Oooh, the CD is starting with the same 10 minute trumpet solo that the show started with. Excellent!

Ian Kontacte says he is coming on Saturday! Ooh, this scene is actually starting to celebrate itself. It is them that's playing at the new dronerock/shoegaze club on Friday - he says they are doing an experimental 30 minute song which sounds fantastiche.

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 13:56 (eighteen years ago)

kate, do you reckon you'll be on around 9? am trying to figure out my weekend...

emsk, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

No, earlier than that - I reckon 8.30, 8.45 at the lastest. (Though you know how Windmill schedules go.)

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, time is twisty in the windmill. ok that's cool!

emsk, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)

Also, both the promoter and Tim are saying get there early if you do not have a ticket as they apparently selling loads (!!!) of advance tickets. I hope it does not sell out before my mates have a chance to get in. That's not very Self Celebratory.

(I will wear my "Celebrate Yourself" badge from Sonic Cathedrals.)

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 1 March 2007 13:59 (eighteen years ago)

good luck with the gig, Kate !

Ste, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

Lovely songs, Kate. I wish I could teleport!

Beth Parker, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

(er kate do you think tim will do any such thing as a guarantee list? like we pay fullprice but def get in so long as we're there by say 8.30? or something?)

emsk, Friday, 2 March 2007 00:53 (eighteen years ago)

If there is a guest list, you will be on it, Emsk. But I dunno about the guarantee list. I hope we are able to do such a thing!

Weex, I'm excited now! Nervous! It's tomorrow! And my face has broken out in spots like it hasn't since I was a teenager. Bah. Hormones!

Thank you for all the well wishes, folks. :-)

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:05 (eighteen years ago)

aimurchie put some wishes on a thread you weren't reading and wants the curves to play Mass.

Ed, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:06 (eighteen years ago)

To play Mass? What do you mean? Mass as in the club in Brixton, Mass as in that thing that my mum says on Sundays, or Mass as in that state underneath Vermont?

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:11 (eighteen years ago)

or as in "another name for Weight" ?

Mark G, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:14 (eighteen years ago)

The last one.

Ed, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:18 (eighteen years ago)

What, play my weight? What, in beats per minute?!? Dud, I cannot play that fast! Seriously!

The State underneath Vermont, though, that's an interesting idea. It's near enough to where my Mum lives. I might combine a parental visit with a US tour... especially since I have to go to CANADA for my cousin's wedding. Dronerock show in Tronno?

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:20 (eighteen years ago)

Tronno, Albany, Cambridge, NYC, DC?

Ed, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:24 (eighteen years ago)

Don't forget the show in my mum's basement in Bennington, Vt. And maybe at the punque roque commune/noize space in Brattlebro. And, uh, Northampton, Mass. Gotta do the UMass. Maybe Philly as well. Jeez! I hate DC, tho, what have we got to play there for? (No offense to anyone that lives there.)

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:28 (eighteen years ago)

Good luck! Not that you'll need it!

marianna lcl, Friday, 2 March 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

I have just asked my colleague Nancy who comes from Vermont about Bennington. She told me that it is one of the prettiest villages in the state! And that Bennington College is one of the most expensive in the whole of the US and so nobody from Vermont can afford to go there!

Grandpont Genie, Friday, 2 March 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

These things are both true.

It's also incredibly economically depressed. There's this kind of veneer of posh hippie summer stuff, but the actual economy of the town and locals has gone to hell in a handbasket. :-(

It is unbelievably pretty, though. It's just like a picture postcard of a town. My mum frequently sends me these postcards and no one at work believes it's a real place.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 13:21 (eighteen years ago)

You're right...
http://pix.epodunk.com/VT/vt_bennington01.jpg
...they really need a new road.

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 2 March 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, I can see my mum on the pavement there, on the right. Hi, Mum!

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

watch out for that Podunk sign!

Grandpont Genie, Friday, 2 March 2007 13:35 (eighteen years ago)

None of these are actually my mum's house, but her neighbourhood looks like a less comercialised version of this:

http://www.williamsriverhouse.com/images/chester2.jpg

With, uh, more trees and stuff.

http://www.gribblenation.net/nepics/subs/100_1639.jpg

Anyway, this is not a thread about Vermont, this is a thread about Shimura Curves!

Though apparently there is a big Laptop Scene in Bennington!

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)

those houses are fascinating -- they are so a clapboard versh of Victorian villas in the UK, right down to the fake castle turrets!

Grandpont Genie, Friday, 2 March 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

Hey Kate, I have a SATURDAY AFTERNOON MEETING of some importance so plz to put on a guestlist plus one? Paying of course.

suzy, Friday, 2 March 2007 13:46 (eighteen years ago)

I do not know if there will be a guest list! I asked the promoter about a "guarantee list" but she said she could not do that - I will ask Tim but I cannot guarantee anything.

The second house with the shutters and the porch looks almost exactly like my mum's house. V. v. v. pretty. Though with corgis all over the porch instead of tat, and a much bigger garden going down to the road.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 13:49 (eighteen years ago)

YES!!! YES YES YES YES YESSSSSS!!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/runmdc/ilovethearcticmonkeys.jpg

The Lex say: GIRLS WITH GUITARS = AWESOMENESS!!!!

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

He's holding it at arms length somewhat

Tom D., Friday, 2 March 2007 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

He is holding it like he has no idea what to do with it! And a glass of pink wine in the other hand!

(Actually I think he is holding it like that because I had just taken it off for a moment and had nothing to lean it against and no guitar rack.)

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)

i heart that pic.

emsk, Friday, 2 March 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

It would make a great flyer. Lex, (and Matt DC, since I assume you took the picture) would you mind?

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

It looks like he thinks he might pick up some kinda rock 'n' roll germs from it

Tom D., Friday, 2 March 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

mmmm. beautiful Jazzmaster....

Dr.C, Friday, 2 March 2007 16:12 (eighteen years ago)

The irony being that that incarnation of the Shimuras was the least Rock and most Pop incarnation evah.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 16:12 (eighteen years ago)

It's the little finger up way he's holding the wineglass that makes it for me. Like, sooooo middle class. I love it.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

aRGH, I am starting to lose my nerve, realising this is tomorrow. I'm not ready! Argh! Oh god the tingles.

Maybe I will not go to the shoegazer club, maybe I should go home and practise my guitar some more so I don't fuck anytning up, arggghhhh!!!

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

I live in the Northampton, MA. area and attend UMASS. See you soon?
Hope your gig was swell!

aimurchie, Monday, 5 March 2007 05:35 (eighteen years ago)

I'll let kate fill you in properly. but it was a fabulous gig. I couldn't hear a damn thing I was playing and there was debate amongst the audience as to whether they could. Kate was sounding great and the late addition of stereo tremolo to some of her guitar parts was realy sounding hot. As was Frances' synth.

People's revolutionary Choir - what a waste of a great name
Flowers of Hell - Wonderful, happy droney music
The Telescopes - Reminds me of going to lovebytes and senti/ents events when I was a student. TOtal wall of sound wubwub wub noise.

Ed, Monday, 5 March 2007 09:18 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, it was a great night! Eclipse and all!

The place was freaking PACKED. That was a surprise. I wore my SPACEROCK GOGGLES TO SEE THROUGH TIME. (Groovy Bob kept asking if I could see the 60s, and I told him, no, only the 16th Century.) It was really RAWK. People kept asking what Ed was playing, a lot of interest, so I assume they must have heard it in the crowd. Kind of like the bottom end of a 12-string. Frances was awesome, she brought the WIBBLE and the WUB.

Yay, we get to keep her! She's agreed to stay on (I assume Ed has too?) - next thing is how to break it to the Payne SisX0rs that I have turned the band into a spacerock band while they were gone.

First gig where people actually get the musical references. People said "Stereolab!" and "Hawkind!" instead of some shite indie girlgroup. (Maybe soundchecking on Master of the Universe was a dead giveaway.)

Yes, it's a shame about the PRC, I wanted to like them, but they did just sound too much like The Verve. Far too much NME/Carling Rock in there. Even though FMM was all "god, she's got a JUNO 106!!" they didn't wibble nearly enough.

Flowers of Hell were OH YES GOD DON'T ROCK, WIBBLE!!! I love them more and more each time I see them. Lovely friendly people, too. (Though I completely offended the hott saxophone player with the paisley guitar by comparing him to Nik Turner - he looked like I'd just accused him of fucking slugs or something. Oh no.)

The Telescopes were almost pure NOIZE. I laughed and laughed when there was that scene in Spinal Tap where Nigel plays his guitar with a violin because The Telescopes WERE DOING JUST THAT!!! They drove all of the old men out of the bar with their WUB during soundcheck. It was awesome.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 11:00 (eighteen years ago)

omg fabulous gig. that worked SO well.

emsk, Monday, 5 March 2007 11:03 (eighteen years ago)

I have emailed David Kilpatrick about pickups, I will be heard.

Ed, Monday, 5 March 2007 11:05 (eighteen years ago)

Did anyone take any photographs? I kept being blinded by flashes, so I think someone did... Was it one of ours?

We looked like A BAND, too. Like, no one made any attempt to match, and all just wore really cartoony clothes - Ed in paisley and high visibility jacket, Frances in silver jacket and me in gold and space goggles.

How on earth are we going to go back to being a girly band again? I don't want to! I like being space pirates! Sea Shanties of the Twenty Second Century!

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 11:07 (eighteen years ago)

Glad you had fun; I didn't get back from my meeting until stupid late and was in no mood to go all the way down to Brixton because of what happened in it.

suzy, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:33 (eighteen years ago)

you looked like a load of total space cadets. it was fantastic. the girls can be girly spacepirate captures!

emsk, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:37 (eighteen years ago)

Not space cadet. Space PIRATE CAPTAIN!!!

http://www.animeboredom.co.uk/Uploads/Areview/31721135995340.jpg

Or, erm, something.

In anime, goggles (or sunglasses) worn or kept on the forehead/headgear by a character are a sign of decisiveness, bravery, or leadership position.

yeah!

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:41 (eighteen years ago)

I think Frances was going more for:

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:46 (eighteen years ago)

Seriously, we need to get Ed a cape. And maybe a crumhorn.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:47 (eighteen years ago)

x-post that is eine HOVERKRAFT not a train!

That would be great, if SC could travel to gigs by HOVERKRAFT.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:48 (eighteen years ago)

Oh yeah, so it is!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:50 (eighteen years ago)

Sorry I couldn't make the gig :(

Tom D., Tuesday, 6 March 2007 14:27 (eighteen years ago)

one month passes...
Blimey, it took some digging to dig this thread out again.

We've just been told that the gig on Saturday (How Does It Feel at the Luminaire) is getting dangerously close (oooh, danger! danger! will robinson!) to selling out. So if you want to go, please to buy a ticket. I'll look up and figure out how to do that in a moment.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 12 April 2007 10:33 (eighteen years ago)

Ah! Tickets here:

http://www.wegottickets.com/event/15551

(I hope that works.)

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 12 April 2007 10:36 (eighteen years ago)

FRIDAY!!! IT'S FRIDAY!!!

Dammit, I've been on holiday and I don't even know what day of the week it is any more.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 12 April 2007 10:42 (eighteen years ago)

wish i could come. i'm at the lumi tonight as it happens, but tomorrow i'm indisposed. sorry...

CharlieNo4, Thursday, 12 April 2007 12:49 (eighteen years ago)

I too am INDIEsposed tomorrow

Tom D., Thursday, 12 April 2007 12:52 (eighteen years ago)

So yeah, this saturday at the Metro, afterparty at the Castle for the FAP of Doom (with internet jukebox, remember 20 minute spacerock odysseys are the best value for your your hard earned coin).

Tom D., Tuesday, 17 April 2007 09:35 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, do you have images turned off?

The Metro, Oxford Street.

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 09:36 (eighteen years ago)

Ah right, I thought you might have meant leave your names HERE, as in on this thread

Tom D., Tuesday, 17 April 2007 09:38 (eighteen years ago)

I think mail Kate is the most sensible thing.

Ed, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 09:39 (eighteen years ago)

Ah, sorry I misunderstood. If you say on this thread that you would like to come, then we will put your name down on our list and you will get in for cheap.

PLEASE DO NOT MAIL ME, MY INBOX IS OUT OF CONTROL AFTER MY HOLIDAY AS IT IS!

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 09:40 (eighteen years ago)

Here are some Shimuras walking about some Curves:

I don't know if I'll be able to come yet, so I'll leave the cheap tickets for others more deserving

Tom D., Tuesday, 17 April 2007 09:43 (eighteen years ago)

(We get unlimited cheap tickets.)

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 09:44 (eighteen years ago)

I said on another thread, but me and the mister may require cheap tickets please. Then again, we may not. Hmmm. Can you put names on door for cheap on-door ticket purchase if we turn up, and then it doesn't matter if we don't? Or is this unnecessary fanny-dangle?

Catsupppppppppppppp dude ‫茄蕃‪, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

We will put anyone who wants on the cheap list.

But we will look like nidiots if we put HUNDREDS of people on the list and two people and a dog turn up. Then again, having a dog onstage might be pretty cool.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 09:11 (eighteen years ago)

PLZ to add to the list: Me, Elena, Jim (there very well may be others but these I am sure will come).

G00blar, Friday, 20 April 2007 11:08 (eighteen years ago)

Excellent, I am adding you.

Ed, Friday, 20 April 2007 11:09 (eighteen years ago)

Cheers

G00blar, Friday, 20 April 2007 11:09 (eighteen years ago)

Ed can be listmaster. He is sensible like that. He holds the clipboard, he has the power.

Me, I'd be all "I don't like the look of ya, you're not coming in!"

emsk, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:35 (eighteen years ago)

I kind of assumed, want to play the tambourine?

Ed, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:36 (eighteen years ago)

er omg maybe! how many songs for? does that mean i must dress up? (dressing up is fine, dragging 2x changes of clothes around town less fine)

emsk, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:37 (eighteen years ago)

Just the last song (Hung With Joy) needs tambourine. It's up to you if you want to dress up.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)

(I just have to remember to bring it. Or maybe we should get one of those Hobgoblin grab bags of percussion.)

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)

i bought another charity shop dress last week that needs a ribbon. hm.

emsk, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:40 (eighteen years ago)

You still haven't worn the laughy green leopard skin dress!

(that I've seen, at least.)

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

OH IDEAS HAPPENING

emsk, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:44 (eighteen years ago)

you will get all the boys in that dress.

Ed, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:44 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, can get get G00blar and Jim as dancing boys again, as well?

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:45 (eighteen years ago)

(In dresses, if they like.)

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:45 (eighteen years ago)

We need to get some new badges, I am mailing Lisa to see if she has some time.

Ed, Friday, 20 April 2007 13:47 (eighteen years ago)

Ha ha ha, someone else just asked me if Sticky and Brown was about heroin.

IT IS NOT ABOUT HEROIN!!! IT IS NOT ABOUT KINKY SEX!!! IT IS ABOUT CHOCOLATE!!! HONEST!!!

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 April 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

TONIGHT TONIGHT TONIGHT OH YES

I don't think we're going to have time to hit Hobgoblin on the way over as we are having to provide the Marshall LEAD amp for the other bands. This should be exciting.

I have been possessed by the spirit of Bob Calvert and will be in combats and goggles tonight. Hurrah!

(Again, this is Kate, not Ed, despite the screen name. Wow, I could sure cause some trouble here.)

Ed, Saturday, 21 April 2007 14:37 (eighteen years ago)

(Actually, you can tell it's Kate because I capitalise things, ha ha.)

Ed, Saturday, 21 April 2007 14:38 (eighteen years ago)

one month passes...

Shimura Curves are playing an Und Gretel night an Bardens Boudoir on the 14th of June. The lineup is confirmed and it promises to be an incredible evening of music. We are playing with Ebony Bones, Bishi and No Bra, which is about an exciting and varied as four bands can get; from the Burlesque and folk of Bishi, through the electronic 'Pornographic Poetry' of No Bra, to the Voodoo Rave Priestesses of Ebony Bones spitting carnival chat over driving garage pop, and of course your very own Shimura Curves pushing the boundaries of twinkly girl synthpop in new and germanic ways.

Bardens Boudoirs - wherezat?

Tom D., Friday, 1 June 2007 11:57 (eighteen years ago)

Indeed, I could not be more psyched about playing with these people, well, OK, I am slightly more psyched about the ILX festival, but that is different.

Bardens Boudoir is in Stoke newington.

Ed, Friday, 1 June 2007 12:00 (eighteen years ago)

wow No Bra are/is/are/um a thing to behold.

oh dear lord.

well... i have my reservations about these "let's get a bunch of women with nothing in common except their gender and have them play together" extravaganzas, but i do have to say that all the artists are EXTREMELY good so i am looking forward to it.

it will be very german and arty. now whether this means we can play Amon Duul covers or whether I will be rocking the weimar lesbian look, i cannot say.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:20 (eighteen years ago)

My concession to lesbianism - My Beard

Ed, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:23 (eighteen years ago)

I was just wondering what you would do about Ed

Tom D., Friday, 1 June 2007 13:25 (eighteen years ago)

Ebony Bones' backing band is all male so maybe we can hangout in the corner farting and talking about football or something.

Ed, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

My beard my beard, my lovely lovely lady beard? Erm, not sure about that.

I think EB's backing band far more likely to talk about shoes or hairspray than any of the girls in fact!

Masonic Boom, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:34 (eighteen years ago)

argh, we might be missing a shimura for the night. can we find another one by next week? does anyone want to be our keyboardist for the evening?

Masonic Boom, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:51 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe Emil.Y can come down a day or two early?

Masonic Boom, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:56 (eighteen years ago)

Or we can try to co-opt another Payne! I will work towards this end.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 1 June 2007 15:04 (eighteen years ago)

Hello, yes, this is tonight. In Kilburn, for anyone who fancies coming.

Also, we have booked gigs for 17th July and 15th August.

More details will be forthcoming about those ones. And I will get around to making flyers for them.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 29 June 2007 12:41 (eighteen years ago)

Great flyer.

Ed, you become more viking-like every day...

kv_nol, Monday, 9 July 2007 11:50 (eighteen years ago)

You are going to have to ask your groupies, Ed. You can have a clan of hair-braiding groupies.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 9 July 2007 11:51 (eighteen years ago)

Ed, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 12:39 (eighteen years ago)

Featuring Sande from the Memory Machine on special guest vocals. And possibly Dean from the Koolaid Electric Company on 12-string. (We have yet to see if he will allow us to put him in a dress and braid his hair - didn't tell him about that part when he volunteered.)

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 9 August 2007 13:55 (eighteen years ago)

If you don't mind me saying this, at the very first glance I thought the picture on that poster was this, and it confused me for a while until I saw the guitars.

StanM, Thursday, 9 August 2007 14:07 (eighteen years ago)

Um, this gittar's gone to heaven?

I don't know. For once, I didn't do the flyer artwork.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 9 August 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)

This is tomorrow!!!! Weex!

Apart from Lisa and me, who are always there, we will be joined by SANDE of the MEMORY MACHINE!!! And DEAN and MR. S BARRETT from the KOOLAID ELECTRIC COMPANY (yes, more DDBs than you can shake a stick at!)

Let me know if you want to be on the cheapie list for Liggers With Attitude.

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 12:12 (eighteen years ago)

Hmm, the phrase "The Monday Club" threw me a touch.

Pete, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 12:32 (eighteen years ago)

I'm confused.

(I'm also vibrating, but that's another story.)

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 12:33 (eighteen years ago)

Argh, we may have lost one of our DDBs already. :-( NO THIS CANNOT BE!!!

This is what Goonite have to say about us:

SHIMURA CURVES: Charming girl pop from London, congregating melodious atmosphere and angelic tunes, sacred by a kraut aura. There's one bloke in the band, plus four pop-affectionated girls wearing stylish dresses, and that can only be a good thing. A pleasant, robotic blend of acoustic guitars, synthesizers and harmonious vocals. For fans of Stereolab, Karftwerk and Electrelane.

Ummm... we're not 1 bloke and 4 girls, we're 2 blokes and 3 girls right now. And acoustic guitar? I've never played an acoustic guitar onstage in my LIFE.*

*OK, this may be a lie. I played my dad's 12-string once when I was about 17. And I think I did an impromptu acoustic set about a year and a half ago at the Windmill when a friend's support band cancelled. But srsly. Even Ed isnt' acoustic!

Still, v. v. funny.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 11:40 (eighteen years ago)

can i have cheapie ligger list plizz?

emsk, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 11:43 (eighteen years ago)

sacred by a kraut aura

G00blar, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 11:44 (eighteen years ago)

OK, Emsk!

Though we have to put everyone's "company" on the ligger list. But we can put yr company and look really impressive! But some of them we have to make up. I mean, so many of our friends work for really impressive looking companies (you, Plan B, etc.) but they are there as friends, not as "industry". (Shhhh, don't tell them that, or they will take our cheapie list away.)

Ah well, at least it's the secondarily hott DDB that has cancelled, and not that really hott one.

Oi, don't make fun, English isn't their first language, they are from Brazil. (I think?) They're lovely blokes.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 11:46 (eighteen years ago)

I'm beginning to think Dean HASN'T GOT A FACE....

http://a677.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/25/l_d278adc920299fca5183508548ad4344.jpg

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 11:49 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to do everything in my power to nick that guitar, tho. /\

(heh heh, j/k)

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 11:50 (eighteen years ago)

wait, is this tonite?

Filey Camp, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 12:13 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, this is tonight! Do keep up, G! I mean, Filey.

Yes!!! He has a FACE!!!

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/95/248837090_9c4f0ebc9a.jpg

I love the way that it looks like his guitar is poking into hyperspace, and has wrapped around the fourth dimension so it's poking back into the left hand of the shot. Like a... oh crap, there's a word for that kind of universe, and I want to say Sierpiriski cube but that's not it, that's a fractal form... argh.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 12:14 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, is it a Moebius loop, then?

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 12:15 (eighteen years ago)

waht time are you on dudes?

emsk, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

About 10-ish.

I mean, that's stage time, not PR time, we are ON at 10.

Did you get my text? I need halp with uh... feeding the DDBs. (You know what DDBs live on.)

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

Ha ha, text went to Ed by mistake, and he's all, "dude, I wish I could help you, but I'M IN HELSINKI!!!" and I'm all "huh? Dammit, I'm not even a stoner, and I'm fucking up the text messages." Just thinking about getting high makes me act like I'm high.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)

10 is PERFECT
just got text and replied, soz i am useless...
