I Have Never Heard These Bands That Start With The Letters ILX - The Compilation Volume 3!

Message Bookmarked

I searched for the previous vols' threads, and these also popped up on the search, Suggesting itself for a likely new compilation title!

So, is it about time? Or is it not about time?

Should I help with the organising? or should I help someone else? Or just butt out!

Mark G, Thursday, 1 March 2007 15:55 (eighteen years ago)

Do what now?

TOMBOT, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, it's about time!

G00blar, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

yes, yes yes, I am in if you do one!

There's a whole new crop of ILX bands now!

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

OK, let's open up this pearly gate!

You all know my email, but I guess it'd be best if they all went through the nice mechanical 'ILX' contact mechanism that's on here.

I'll set up a webpage to keep folk up to date with progress, and maybe have some optional 'track hosting' and info and the like.

Mark G, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

I'll definitely contribute.

the next grozart, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:23 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah I'll contribute to this as well, def.

Pashmina, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:26 (eighteen years ago)

Me too, when it's recorded. I will have some stuff ready in April - that's not too late I guess?

Dr.C, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:27 (eighteen years ago)

I would like to contribute but I haven't had much time to fuss lately besides unrecorded jams with ZR of the Fake Accents, DC's best local band, have you heard.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:27 (eighteen years ago)

OK, here's a set-up!

http://www.go-quick.com/ILXVol3.html

This page will have a list of whoever's opted into this, with a status.

I'll add the ones seen so far.

Mark G, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)

I am tempted by this but have like a squillion other projects on and will no doubt fail to deliver

tissp, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:49 (eighteen years ago)

I will definitely contribute.

Jordan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:50 (eighteen years ago)

Right, I've started the 'info' page, and will update it again tomorrow, rather than "oh look another name I'll add it now" forever...

(I forgot to add mine!)

Mark G, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:52 (eighteen years ago)

I can do one, most likely with fiancee/fellow CHILXOR Sarah. Or maybe I will put together a CHILX all-star jam.

n/a, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:52 (eighteen years ago)

Hey! Do I need to email you to be confirmed on that page? Or is my post above (and this one) enough?

G00blar, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:52 (eighteen years ago)

I'm in, and I will commit to call dibs on a song I have already started writing called "You Never Her" for the comp.

nickalicious, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:55 (eighteen years ago)

Shimura Curves are going to be contributing a track. No idea which one yet.

But me and TISSP! are also going to whip (heh heh) something up for Electric Comet Theory (infinity).

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:57 (eighteen years ago)

I might see if I can convince the rest of city seventeen to lend a track, too

tissp, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:58 (eighteen years ago)

At this rate it'll be a triple CD - with Kate in every band!

What would make this really good would be to have some artwork/tracklisting this time.

Dr.C, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:01 (eighteen years ago)

I proposed some art last time, but it never happened.

I'll try and keep up with alt:bands (i.e. Kate's two) and I won't stress any limits as yet.

Mark G, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:04 (eighteen years ago)

what about material? does it have to be exclusive to the compilation?

tissp, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not in every band! And it was TISSP!'s idea not mine so blame him! He will also be in two bands, so hah.

Humh.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)

I'm in. Spoken word introduction or something.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)

the Red Bull Dozers (who did one for the last compilation) said they will do it (will take them a while to record it though)

ken c, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:10 (eighteen years ago)

Ned, you pick a TIM@KFC.EDU post, read that, send me the sound file, and I'll make some kind of epic mix from it.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

:-D

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

Dear Dr. C

please ensure your track features Beryl on vocals

Thnx

blueski, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

It's a rich vein to work from.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)

I'm totally serious BTW

TOMBOT, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)

DO IT.

G00blar, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)

ILX Comp Vol 4: "Ned recites TIM@KFC.EDU: Remixes & Interpretations"

tissp, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)

I think a 'cover versions'/stars in their ilx-eyez project would be cool also. To hell with originality.

blueski, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

Kate - I wasn't moaning - as far as I'm concerned you should be in all the bands!

Beryl - ha! We'll see.

Dr.C, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

We could all just pick one song and do our own covers/remixes of it!

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

That'd be fun. And no communication/peeking before the final comp.

G00blar, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

I'm totally serious BTW

So am I! I'll do just that! All suggestions for specific posts welcomed of course.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

So am I! I'll do just that! All suggestions for specific posts welcomed of course.

sounds like a poll is needed. More clutter on New Answers grumble grumble

kv_nol, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:21 (eighteen years ago)

I'd love to be on this. No way I'd be able to trust myself to let go though. It is a hard life being a bedroom musician!

kv_nol, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

Right, the page is updated enough for today. I've Bauhaus 93'd the artist titles, and broadway'd the track titles, such as they are or are known.

Any more after this post, I'll update tomorrow.

Plenty good!

Mark G, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:29 (eighteen years ago)

No, no, that should be an infinity symbol, not (infinity) - I would post one, but HTML is disallowed.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)

Also, I am *in* City Seventeen, not the entirety of it (others may disagree)! Anyway, this is just being nit-picky, so not to worry! :)

tissp, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

God, you're SO PICKY, TISSP! Are you gonna be like this when we work together? ;-)

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

I might be in this time. Yes.

Casuistry, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

I will provide the track "one does not simply tank cat into mordor"

Edward III, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:32 (eighteen years ago)

IM IN I HOPE ITS NOT TOO LATE IVE BEEN ON THE FIRST 2 PLEASE LET ME BE ON THIS ONE THANK YOU

chaki, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)

Guys I can seriously hear Ned saying "SPADGETTI" in my head right now, it is awesome.

nickalicious, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

I demand a louis jagger contribution

bernard snowy, Thursday, 1 March 2007 20:18 (eighteen years ago)

well, it could happen if a) my band gets going or b) if i record something awesome on our midi keyboard @ home this coming holiday

unfished business, Thursday, 1 March 2007 20:20 (eighteen years ago)

I'll contribute a song!!

I still have copies of volume 1 and 2 hanging around! So, like email if you want it, and I'll try and send them out, but I can't promise anything.

Therefore, I will bail on organising any of this time though. 10th planet is a good place to get CDR's burned, if that's what you are planning to do.

jel --, Thursday, 1 March 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

I'm in, too!

Capitaine Jay Vee, Thursday, 1 March 2007 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

i'm sure i can scrape a song together

electricsound, Friday, 2 March 2007 00:38 (eighteen years ago)

Sign me up!

Douglas, Friday, 2 March 2007 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

haha ILX BOX(CAR) SET

nickalicious, Friday, 2 March 2007 03:03 (eighteen years ago)

Funny I was just thinking about the ILX comps the other day. I thought about pulling some kind of solo bedroom tracker/mumblysinging thing. I dont know if I can get my shir together though.

Trayce, Friday, 2 March 2007 03:04 (eighteen years ago)

I want to play!

Dominique, Friday, 2 March 2007 03:06 (eighteen years ago)

God, you're SO PICKY, TISSP! Are you gonna be like this when we work together? ;-)

I'm trying depserately to find a screen grab of that Father Ted episode where they try to write "My Lovely Horse", but it's not happening for me :(

tissp, Friday, 2 March 2007 10:22 (eighteen years ago)

Updated page!

Mark G, Friday, 2 March 2007 10:22 (eighteen years ago)

A prize to anyone who produces a video for their tune.

Ed, Friday, 2 March 2007 10:25 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, I was thinking of doing that

tissp, Friday, 2 March 2007 10:31 (eighteen years ago)

The plan is to make that page host the mp3 files, so if your vids are on youtube, I'll link to them as well (with a nice pic)

Mark G, Friday, 2 March 2007 10:32 (eighteen years ago)

I've got some stuff I could contribute, just have to decide what, but how to go about?

Tom D., Friday, 2 March 2007 10:33 (eighteen years ago)

Well, by posting that, I can add you to the page..

http://www.go-quick.com/ILXVol3.html

This will hold the 'directions' when I know what those should be.

My basic idea is for contributors to send mp3's or whatever to me via gmail, along with biog/info/pic and I'll look at 1) creating the CDs themselves 2) sourcing artwork from volunteers (or doing some myself) 3) hosting the sound files on my webspace 4)setting up a myspace page naah, no need!

Mark G, Friday, 2 March 2007 10:38 (eighteen years ago)

Oh right, yes, don't know nuttin' 'bout gmails 'n' shit tho

Tom D., Friday, 2 March 2007 10:41 (eighteen years ago)

This should be the inspiration for the artwork.

http://www.federalbikes.com/blog/Tarkus.jpg

Ed, Friday, 2 March 2007 10:46 (eighteen years ago)

... but hopefully not for the music

Tom D., Friday, 2 March 2007 10:54 (eighteen years ago)

shit... too late :/

chaki, Friday, 2 March 2007 10:55 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe if the was a TISSP, Kate, Kerr and Pash supergroup....

Ed, Friday, 2 March 2007 10:55 (eighteen years ago)

Pash hates ELP

Tom D., Friday, 2 March 2007 10:58 (eighteen years ago)

I will supply pub-rock.

Dr.C, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:02 (eighteen years ago)

With balalaikas!

Masonic Boom, Friday, 2 March 2007 11:02 (eighteen years ago)

i'll record you trayce. i will even make your backing track for you if you like.

electricsound, Friday, 2 March 2007 12:21 (eighteen years ago)

you might need some guidelines on track length?

My song will be about 2 minutes and incorporate 3 different songs.

jel --, Friday, 2 March 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

guidelines on track length - yes! nothing that doesn't fit under gmail's 10mb limit for individual messages. So no Tarkus, then.

TOMBOT, Friday, 2 March 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

can i get a track on this?? my shit sounds like eazy e & newcleus

and what, Friday, 2 March 2007 17:52 (eighteen years ago)

Mine is a metal song, full of swearing and power chords.

jel --, Friday, 2 March 2007 17:53 (eighteen years ago)

Hey Ken, can I come and jam with you? I've been getting the urge to MAKE MUSIC lately.

Mark C, Friday, 2 March 2007 17:54 (eighteen years ago)

jugglefraggle

Ed, Friday, 2 March 2007 18:02 (eighteen years ago)

Bumping: Some might not have seen this last week (for various reasons)

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 09:28 (eighteen years ago)

I was thinking about this at the weekend and realised that I have no idea what I contributed to vols 1 & 2! In fact I don't think I ever saw a copy of vol 2. You're doing a great job in kicking this off, Mark!

Dr.C, Monday, 5 March 2007 09:30 (eighteen years ago)

I should really get some estimates about how long people's tracks are going to be.

Or, embrace the new techlology and make it a 'data/mp3disc'...

Or should I arrange a 'first past the post' by arrival?

I really don't want to 'pick by quality', or 'pick by seniority', or even 'pick by whoever gets them in first', more a combination of all ....

10% 'newbie' postitive quota? greencard to folks that contributed to Vol 1 and 2? Mauvecard to Vol2?

Or even a 'vote' thread?

Or just 'relax' and let these things resolve themselves?

Or just talk to myself for a bit longer?

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 10:07 (eighteen years ago)

"mauve card"????

Dr.C, Monday, 5 March 2007 10:10 (eighteen years ago)

We deserve nothing less than triple gatefold vinyl.

Ed, Monday, 5 March 2007 10:28 (eighteen years ago)

mark c and i are also doing a thing now too (in addition to the red bull dozers) can you add that to the list please

ken c, Monday, 5 March 2007 10:52 (eighteen years ago)

"MC/KC"

ken c, Monday, 5 March 2007 10:55 (eighteen years ago)

'K!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 11:00 (eighteen years ago)

http://www.go-quick.com/ILXVol3.html

Have updated/reformatted.

CHECK I HAVEN'T MISSED YOU/ANY DETAILS!!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 11:25 (eighteen years ago)

Can we request that Mark S works his boudoir Grand into this comp?

Ed, Monday, 5 March 2007 11:27 (eighteen years ago)

It's up to him.

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:23 (eighteen years ago)

Over on the 'Cooler we've been talking about scheduling an ILX0rpollooza for ages. Maybe we could schedule such a thing to coincide with the release of the comp?

This might have to take place over several continents/cities but I would certainly be willing to curate/schedule/promote the London branch.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:32 (eighteen years ago)

this may require a DOUBLE CD soon.

ken c, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:33 (eighteen years ago)

Might well do!

And a LOLapalILXor as well!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:48 (eighteen years ago)

ILXORpollooza would be grebt, as I've said on the 'cooler! I'm in.

Dr.C, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:50 (eighteen years ago)

Ed suggested on the other thread that it would be great to do it on a Sunday at the Windmill - that way, not only do we get all afternoon, so we can fit in 6 or 7 bands, but also there is a FREE BBQ (so long as Ken C doesn't eat all the chicken wings) so ILX0rs be eating!

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:51 (eighteen years ago)

Sunday 13th or the 27th of May look free right now, but it's filling up already. Would that be good, to give us a deadline, and something to shoot for?

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

The 27th is good for me. 13th, not so good but dooable.

Ed, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:56 (eighteen years ago)

OK, so if that's a deadline to aim for, the tracks will have to be finished and in, pretty damn pronto!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:57 (eighteen years ago)

It's so far in advance, maybe we should just book the date and get the other bands to commit as they can.

Who else?

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 12:58 (eighteen years ago)

OK, now I am genuinely scared!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)

13th May would be great for me. 27th - probably not. Early June might be a bit better.

6 or 7 bands would be good.

Dr.C, Monday, 5 March 2007 13:01 (eighteen years ago)

We're in, probably whenever.

G00blar, Monday, 5 March 2007 13:02 (eighteen years ago)

OK, taking the cart by the horse, maybe I ask Tim first what is actually available, as they don't always update their website. Late May, early June is the time we're looking at? I definitely can't do the first few weekends of June, though.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 13:03 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe we should start a new thread for this...

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 13:04 (eighteen years ago)

I think yes to both (ask Tim and new thread).

G00blar, Monday, 5 March 2007 13:05 (eighteen years ago)

I am all in favour of tight deadlines, but I'd kinda prefer June, as I REALLY want to do this with band #2, but we can't record anything until April now. I don't mean to be selfish here, just saying.

The most important thing is to get a date inked in - if it has to be late June, when Kate is available, then maybe that's OK. Will give us time to get the CD done with artwork etc etc.

Dr.C, Monday, 5 March 2007 13:07 (eighteen years ago)

New Thread

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 13:08 (eighteen years ago)

This thread needs to keep up too!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 15:20 (eighteen years ago)

Mark - Do you think April 30th is too late to submit a track? We cannot record before 28th/29th?

I know that you may not *know* if it's too late, but what do you think?

Dr.C, Monday, 5 March 2007 16:51 (eighteen years ago)

I think that's fine and well in time!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 16:52 (eighteen years ago)

OK - great!

Dr.C, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:04 (eighteen years ago)

my band is going in to the studio and we will have some recordings by the 27th, plz count me in if there's still room.

sleeve, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

You are on the page now!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

um, Vas from Byzantum (one of the "black metal dudes") contacted me and wants to know if he can put a track on here

latebloomer, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

Blimey, it's all going on.

Is he ILXor? Is there a policy on this?

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:18 (eighteen years ago)

I'd say if you don't have a login name, you're not an ILX0r. It's pretty straightforward in these reg-only days.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

There you go, then.

AND THAT GOES FOR YOU TOO, ELVIS COSTELLO!

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:21 (eighteen years ago)

(he has not signed up for nu-ilx yet, the lazy oaf)

and if there's still room i wouldn't mind contributing a song from my project Clonefeed again

latebloomer, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:21 (eighteen years ago)

no...Vas is an ilxor, he just hasn't uh, re-signed up

latebloomer, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

Quandary, quandary.

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)

for reference

http://ilx.wh3rd.net/thread.php?msgid=4481975

latebloomer, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:24 (eighteen years ago)

He signs up and posts on this thread, quandary over.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:24 (eighteen years ago)

Seems fair enough.

Clonefeed is going on the page as I write...

Mark G, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:25 (eighteen years ago)

thanx!

latebloomer, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

my slave vessel hasth told you of me no doubting...

i desire to infect this "compilation" with my dark power in way of song.

where do i direct my powers of black magik (or "send mp3 file" in your mortal parlance)

Vas Djifrens, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

I can do a track. Please make sure it ends up being labeled correctly on the cd this time :/

Michael F Gill, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

I too will vouch vas est ilxor

byzantum track will makes this cd AWESOME

Edward III, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

I wish Nabisco would be on this, his song on comp 1 was great! And Hanle y too!!

jel --, Monday, 5 March 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)

Are we signing up now? I have track and stuff, they iz awesome.

nabisco, Monday, 5 March 2007 18:04 (eighteen years ago)

Can we request that Mark S works his boudoir Grand into this comp?

A high time!
And - I hearby also request that Frank K email in his vocal or instrumental contribution and so make that a Mark S & Frank K duo piece.
Please.

t**t, Monday, 5 March 2007 18:21 (eighteen years ago)

OK the new ones, I'll catch up the page sometime soon!

Mark G, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 10:10 (eighteen years ago)

MP3's to go to mark.grout@gmail.com in case there was doubt...

OK, Banner is open!

Mark G, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 12:25 (eighteen years ago)

MP3's are beginning to arrive, hrah!

I shall update the page to add on a column for

1) MP3 ETA or "IN"

I'll try and work out ETAs from messages here so far, it'll give some sort of schedule and maybe a deadline but I'm not setting a deadline and nor am I scheduling a time where I'm setting a deadline just yet.

Mark G, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 09:34 (eighteen years ago)

if me and my guitarist friend work something out within the next couple of weeks, tissp has said he may allow us to record it, which would be awesome!

unfished business, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 09:50 (eighteen years ago)

hi Mark! whar's Vas Djifrens / Byzantum?

Edward III, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)

I have submitted an mp3 to I hope the right locale mark.grout

Latham Green, Thursday, 8 March 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

Hi all.

I'm unable to update the page at the moment, due to being 'away', similarly unable to 'receive' the tracks (but do not worry, they are all sitting in my gmail and awaiting d/l to a friendly device so nothing is lost or unobtainable)

Latham Green, yes.

1) Please make it clear your 'artist' name as well as your 'ILX' contact, otherwise I may pick one and get it wrong and I don't want to use names you'd rather not be known as...

Mark G, Thursday, 8 March 2007 09:14 (eighteen years ago)

me and my guitarist friend have indeed worked something out, over the next few days we'll perfect it, record it (fingers crossed) and send it along. it's a brillliant 7/4 --> 3/4 -time post-prog pop symphony!

unfished business, Thursday, 8 March 2007 12:46 (eighteen years ago)

Mark - my estimated time of delivery for the track is April 20th now. We managed to get a studio booking a bit earlier than I thought we would.

Dr.C, Thursday, 8 March 2007 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

OK, will try and make the update in a while...

Mark G, Thursday, 8 March 2007 16:23 (eighteen years ago)

The band will be A Nation Mourns.

Dr.C, Thursday, 8 March 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)

bump for USA/other nations

Mark G, Sunday, 11 March 2007 22:06 (eighteen years ago)

Mark, the band I'm in is called Chanteuse.

Just went in and did my vocal tracks today, seems like we'll be sending you a rough mix but I'll have to discuss it with the other members and they still have sessions coming up. Not sure which song we're sending yet out of the seven we're doing.

sleeve, Sunday, 11 March 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)

Mark, the name of my band is the same as my username, 'cept without the g00gle-proofing.

Looks like we'll able to get a track done and sent in by the end of April..

G00blar, Sunday, 11 March 2007 22:54 (eighteen years ago)

Mark - I sent you an mp3 some days ago. Did you get?

Capitaine Jay Vee, Sunday, 11 March 2007 23:55 (eighteen years ago)

Hmm. I really must get those TIM@KFC.EDU tracks to Tombot now that I am back.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 12 March 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

Looks like Elektrickometheorie will be doing The Spangle Maker. Unless TISSP! totally rejects the rough mix I've done.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 12 March 2007 10:24 (eighteen years ago)

CHILX All-Star Jam Band started recording yesterday. So we're working on it, at least.

n/a, Monday, 12 March 2007 12:26 (eighteen years ago)

Will update pages on Wednesday, if not before...

Mark G, Monday, 12 March 2007 14:13 (eighteen years ago)

I've never shared my music here, but I would like to do something for this. I have the backing tracks done, but can't record the vocals til I get over my pneumonia. I'm kind of confused about the process I need to go through to submit.

The Reverend, Monday, 12 March 2007 20:46 (eighteen years ago)

it's not so bad. the cavity search is a bit much though.

latebloomer, Monday, 12 March 2007 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

Corps de blimeys!

send message/mp3 to mark.grout@gmail.com

I shall probably request more info closer to compilation time (photos, short blurb for the d/l page, that sort of thing...)

Mark G, Tuesday, 13 March 2007 09:32 (eighteen years ago)

My recording partner has disappeared off the face of the earth. :-(

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 13 March 2007 10:52 (eighteen years ago)

Which one?

Ed, Tuesday, 13 March 2007 10:54 (eighteen years ago)

TISSP!

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 13 March 2007 11:03 (eighteen years ago)

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 13 March 2007 11:12 (eighteen years ago)

It rhymes if you are from Birmingham!

Will update page todayyyyy.....

Mark G, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 09:47 (eighteen years ago)

Check your artist name(s) and your MP3 status: If I've missed anything, let me know!

Mark G, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 10:53 (eighteen years ago)

Also, the ILX Festival has now been booked!

Sunday 17th June at the Windmill Brixton.

Please get in touch if you want to play.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 10:56 (eighteen years ago)

I am going to sing on my song.

jel --, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 18:53 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to send an instrumental placeholder for my track that will have vocals in the near future.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:58 (eighteen years ago)

Probably best to just send the finished article.

Mark G, Thursday, 15 March 2007 09:35 (eighteen years ago)

98 BPM!!!

Oh wait...

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 15 March 2007 10:33 (eighteen years ago)

why?

Mark G, Thursday, 15 March 2007 10:41 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think TISSP is reading this thread.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 15 March 2007 10:45 (eighteen years ago)

Also, paging Mr. G00blar - can you please confirm that you are in for the ILX Festival?

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 15 March 2007 10:48 (eighteen years ago)

I think so (I'll give a definite yes tomorrow?).

G00blar, Thursday, 15 March 2007 10:50 (eighteen years ago)

I am reading the thread! I just read the other one first :)

tissp, Thursday, 15 March 2007 11:01 (eighteen years ago)

The ILX Vol3 page

Welcome to our sporadic readership.

I've done another update so check yr details.

Mark G, Thursday, 15 March 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

some crazy font choices there

blueski, Thursday, 15 March 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

The name of the "CHILX All-Star Jam Band" is subject to change. That's more of a description than a name.

n/a, Thursday, 15 March 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

Mark - my band will be A Nation Mourns. I'm hoping to beat the April 30th date - we're recording a bit earlier now, but will depend on how much mixing needed.

Dr.C, Thursday, 15 March 2007 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

i see Byzantum been allowed to infect this compalation. when ragnarok comes perhaps you shall be spared.

Ai Lien, Thursday, 15 March 2007 19:14 (eighteen years ago)

Tracks so far are wonderful!

About 22 mins worth in already.

Keep them happenin'

Mark G, Friday, 16 March 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

Hey!

this looks like a mighty endeavour.

I'd like to contribute and my band could play the ILXfest too.

My net connection is pretty bad but I'll try and up something and send it this week.

H-ari A-shurst, Saturday, 17 March 2007 12:26 (eighteen years ago)

how long do we have? i've worked something out but we'd need to buy a home PC recording device to get it working.

unfished business, Saturday, 17 March 2007 12:41 (eighteen years ago)

I'm thinking this should close around mid-may.

Mark G, Sunday, 18 March 2007 01:37 (eighteen years ago)

Bloody hell, I've not got anywhere on this. I can't find the tracking s/w I was gonna use (I dont have any other regular instruments save a somewhat broken bass). I'm gonna try and do something today. How much longer we got?

Trayce, Sunday, 18 March 2007 02:01 (eighteen years ago)

I wrote some new lyrics, my track is called:

"Hate Song/Ragnarok/Like a Seaplane"

I might record it next weekend, should take an hour or so.

jel --, Sunday, 18 March 2007 13:25 (eighteen years ago)

Updated Page!

I have, ostensibly, closed the submission of new artists (but do email me if you want to sneak in if you saw this late.. There are a couple of artists who were on vols 1 and 2 that should be.. etc)

And I've added a spurious closing date for submission of finished tracks. (Early May)

As I said before, I have abot 25 mins worth of tracks in, all marvellous, so I need to see how it pans out..

If it becomes a double CD, it will have to manifest itself swiftly.

If your track is in, it's on.
If you've given me an ETA for your track, I'll take it as being a near certainty it will happen.
If you've indicated a willingness to contribute, but no further information, your position could be vulnerablee.... ooooh, whooo.... oh noeee.... etc.

(Anyroad, I have had no 'covering' pics and/or text for anything yet! )

And keep them tracks and emails coming! (c/o HR Puffenstuff)

Mark G, Monday, 19 March 2007 09:36 (eighteen years ago)

I've got to go round Ed's to mix the Shimuras track on good speakers!

Masonic Boom, Monday, 19 March 2007 11:16 (eighteen years ago)

Just a thought: Is there any way of making Volumes One and Two available again? I'd love to hear them.

kv_nol, Monday, 19 March 2007 11:21 (eighteen years ago)

Didn't Jel say that he had some? Or was that on the other thread. I seem to recall him saying that he would bring Vol 1 and 2 to the Festival.

(I lost Vol 1 in a move, and Vol 2 died after getting a whole glass of pink wine spilled down it.)

Masonic Boom, Monday, 19 March 2007 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

I might do a 'pre-release' page if that's alright, consisting of the vols 1 and 2...

Mark G, Monday, 19 March 2007 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

Right, Page Updated thus:

There is an inzone.

You get to be in the inzone if your track is in and verified (i.e. actually plays)!

I'll update timings in another column. If it's wrong (i.e. oh noe it's lopped off 20 seconds!) then LMK!

here

Mark G, Monday, 19 March 2007 12:41 (eighteen years ago)

Mark G cheers again! You are being a real source of joy today!

kv_nol, Monday, 19 March 2007 12:50 (eighteen years ago)

thanks.

One word to all contribs:

Track length might be an issue, but we'll cross that bridge when ...

Mark G, Monday, 19 March 2007 13:37 (eighteen years ago)

If you want the discs kv nol email an address, and I'll post them off to you. And to the other couple of people that have emailed me, I shall get myself down to the post office this week.

jel --, Monday, 19 March 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

i can contribute a song from my forthcoming album. I never clicked on this thread because the title was so unappealing.

akm, Monday, 19 March 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

who do we email the addresses to?

latebloomer, Monday, 19 March 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

"Pumpdog" by Scarlet Smears? I want to hear that.

Chaucer Arafat, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 01:36 (eighteen years ago)

I hope it's not too late to submit. I sent m gr0ut one email containing one downloady link with one completed song.

m bison, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 02:15 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks Jel--! I sent a webmail with my address. Let me know if there's any problem receiving it!

kv_nol, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 09:56 (eighteen years ago)

Another day, another page update!

Up to 40 minutes now!

Mark G, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 11:00 (eighteen years ago)

Oh dear, I think I am not going to get to this in time, mainly for access to tracker software issues. Pity. I had this great idea of doing a duet of "Cuts you Up" by Pete Murphy with someone, but it'd take too long to sort out due to logistics issues.

Trayce, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 11:29 (eighteen years ago)

I have, ostensibly, closed the submission of new artists (but do email me if you want to sneak in if you saw this late.. There are a couple of artists who were on vols 1 and 2 that should be.. etc)

I saw this late! Can I play? Can send you track today (or one mix thereof. We are currently fighting like cats over all the different mixes)

I'll email you.

Jamie T Smith, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 16:50 (eighteen years ago)

Thought I'd post here rather than clogging up the Watercooler again. Is it okay for the Chemistry Experiment to join in? We've got songs ready to send to you. Although the one that the boys want to submit is very downbeat, hopefully it will gel with the SUPERSPACEKRAUTEPICS that I am imagining everyone else will give. I should've tried to convince Steven to record his boss' song-snatch medley.

emil.y, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 11:09 (eighteen years ago)

Bring it on in! (the usual email..)

So far, we are up to 40 minutes, so it's either

1) going to fill up quite quickly
2) going to be a double!

Mark G, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 11:17 (eighteen years ago)

DOUBLE!!!

kv_nol, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 12:24 (eighteen years ago)

OK, I just sussed that the chemistry experiment is your band emil.y! That "channel light vessel" track is seriously great.

Pashmina, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 12:35 (eighteen years ago)

Never did hear any of the songs on the previous compilations :(

Hopefully these ones will be easier to hear.

blueski, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 12:38 (eighteen years ago)

You could have asked for a cd. You could still.

jel --, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 18:44 (eighteen years ago)

i'd like to request back issues! how?

Ai Lien, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:08 (eighteen years ago)

use the webmail and send an address!

jel --, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

What is the deadline again? I am actually finished with "You Never Her"* but am trying some new things wrt mastering and would rather you guys get a finished product that sounds as little like ass as possible.

*unfortunately not in time to upload and link to it on the Marissa Off The Net thread

nickalicious, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:21 (eighteen years ago)

Tracks: To be in by early May, please

Ah nevermind, click the damned link Nick.

Definitely be in before then. Probably in the next week or two.

I'm sure someone has xposted.

nickalicious, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

I was wrong!

nickalicious, Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

Jel-- did you get my webmail?

kv_nol, Thursday, 22 March 2007 10:00 (eighteen years ago)

Another updated page!

45 mins!

Mark G, Thursday, 22 March 2007 13:20 (eighteen years ago)

I did Kv nol!!! Will send soon!

That means only 35mins left on an 80min CD grouty. That's about 9 songs.

jel --, Friday, 23 March 2007 09:37 (eighteen years ago)

woe!

Mark G, Friday, 23 March 2007 09:38 (eighteen years ago)

Gotta be a double then?

Dr.C, Friday, 23 March 2007 09:40 (eighteen years ago)

Our track will be 3 mins 15 ish fwiw.

Dr.C, Friday, 23 March 2007 09:41 (eighteen years ago)

We've decided we're giving you "Sticky and Brown". If Lisa and I can stop laughing long enough to do the dirty bits.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:36 (eighteen years ago)

It's 3:14 on the last recording and I don't think there is two much scope to turn it into 20 minutes of prog wubwubwub, but we can try.

Ed, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:38 (eighteen years ago)

This is why I like having you in the band, Ed. You want to turn *every* song into a 20 minute wibbling prog epic!

The only day I have free to mix next week is Tuesday. Are you around? I can give you a quick tour of Cubase.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:41 (eighteen years ago)

I can do Tuesday, pretty sure anyway. Shall I come to yours?

Ed, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:42 (eighteen years ago)

Or rather would you like to do it on my speakers which was the plan anyway.

Ed, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:43 (eighteen years ago)

No! The whole point is to use your amazing amp and speakers! I have shit speakers!

Masonic Boom, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:43 (eighteen years ago)

Many an 80s BBC session was mixed on my speakers (OK speakers of the same type).

Ed, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:45 (eighteen years ago)

I've been trying to work out some running order(s)..

Some tracks flow quite nicely into each other, some seem to need to be 'set apart', and some are WTFdoesthisgo?

Mark G, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:49 (eighteen years ago)

(Shit, Ed, I may be asking if I can play some mixes on yr speakers in the near future too!)

G00blar, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:50 (eighteen years ago)

Sure thing. I am trying to learn many a mystery of recording at the moment.

Ed, Friday, 23 March 2007 10:55 (eighteen years ago)

My song is ready, and sent!

It's called Ragnarok/Everywhere You Go.

90 seconds long, starts as noise.

jel --, Friday, 23 March 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

Or maybe I'll have to send it tomorrow, damn internet connection! :(

jel --, Friday, 23 March 2007 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

im doing a weezer song. i dont think people should be able to have more than one project on the cd. that would also cut down on running time.

chaki, Friday, 23 March 2007 22:32 (eighteen years ago)

i mean shit just pick one song for fuck's sake.

chaki, Saturday, 24 March 2007 01:33 (eighteen years ago)

Hi M Grout, sleeve here again. I have passed the project on to our drummer Tina and she will be sending you an MP3 shortly (i'll be out of the country). Perhaps not on the 27th as we had envisioned, but you can put April 7th as the "track will be in by" date. The band name is Chanteuse and I'm still not sure which track she'll pick. Thanks!

sleeve, Sunday, 25 March 2007 22:21 (eighteen years ago)

Allez gut!

Mark G, Monday, 26 March 2007 08:52 (eighteen years ago)

Cheers Jel-- (xxxxxpost)

kv_nol, Monday, 26 March 2007 09:11 (eighteen years ago)

Mark G, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 08:26 (eighteen years ago)

didja get my track?

chaki, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 08:42 (eighteen years ago)

Yep! Wonderful it is!

I'm unsure when I can update the page, but it's definitely in!

Mark G, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 08:44 (eighteen years ago)

rad thanks

chaki, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 08:46 (eighteen years ago)

H-ari A-shurst, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 08:48 (eighteen years ago)

Yep, that's 'seen'

I can't d/l it but consider it in.

Mark G, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 08:50 (eighteen years ago)

We are mixing the Shimura Curves track tonight. Which means you should have it by midnight.

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 09:59 (eighteen years ago)

Did you get my goddamn masterpiece????????

jel --, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

Shimuras Track is mixed. and sending in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1....

Ed, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

Errr... well, I just hope we haven't overegged the compression pudding.

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

We tamed 1 (one) bass transient with a very fast bit of compression. Definitely not over egged.

Ed, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

It was a recurring MIGHTY POP, not a bass transient. What is a bass transient? John Taylor during his drunken tramp days?

Anyway, let us know if you do not get it, Mark!

Masonic Boom, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

What do I do if I *do* get it?

Mark G, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 22:24 (eighteen years ago)

(-:

I've made a very quick update to the webpage, and probably bollixed it up.. No matter, it'll be tidied up later.

Mark G, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 22:25 (eighteen years ago)

YAH DOOD IT DOESNT EVEN SAY IN NEXT TO MY NAME FUCK THIS MOD REQUEST CAN WE BAN THIS PERSON jk <3 u.

chaki, Tuesday, 27 March 2007 22:26 (eighteen years ago)

Various = Miss AMP, Lisa and Marianna (I think that's who's on that version) and production by Ed.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 28 March 2007 09:35 (eighteen years ago)

Lovely!

I may get to improve on the latest page tonight. I shall, yes I shall, add chaki and as much info as you all can stand!

Mark G, Wednesday, 28 March 2007 09:44 (eighteen years ago)

Page is now updated, by all means tell me if I've missed anything.

Mark G, Thursday, 29 March 2007 08:28 (eighteen years ago)

hello i can aim to have something for you by end of april is that ok??

ken c, Thursday, 29 March 2007 09:09 (eighteen years ago)

That's fine Ken C.

Everyone else! If you are on the board, please give me some indication that you are still doing this if you haven't given me an ETA (that's Estimated Time of Arrival, not "how long you reckon your track is in minutes")

1) unless you are 'in the 'zone' or
2) have given me an ETA already.

Mark G, Thursday, 29 March 2007 09:45 (eighteen years ago)

I'm still busy w/mine. ETA I don't know, but I'll get it done before the deadline.

Pashmina, Thursday, 29 March 2007 09:48 (eighteen years ago)

Chaki's song is great, I heard it somewhere!!

jel --, Thursday, 29 March 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

thank u

chaki, Thursday, 29 March 2007 18:38 (eighteen years ago)

knowing me, my track will be in approximately 1.5 minutes before the due date. when would that be again mark?

Edward III, Thursday, 29 March 2007 18:40 (eighteen years ago)

when is the deadline?? i got a probly short instrumental track instead of one with rappin and shit

and what, Thursday, 29 March 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)

Mark - you'll get it about April 25th, and it's around 3 mins 30. You will DEFINITELY get it by April 25th, so pls reserve a slot. Thanks!

Dr.C, Thursday, 29 March 2007 19:34 (eighteen years ago)

Just checking in to say City Seventeen are working on "Analysis (Redux)" and we will be finished in a couple of weeks. Theoretically.

tissp, Thursday, 29 March 2007 19:52 (eighteen years ago)

And What: OK, one short instrumental slot is yours.

And now, I announce : No new submissions!

If you are on the list and your track is not in yet, you are VULNERABLE....!

Basically, I don't want to make it a double. Mainly because it would get too long, sequencing a nightmare, and too much would get swamped. Having said that, if I get all the tracks on the list without an ETA by the end of the month, I may have to think this again...

If anyone wants to go ahead with vol4 immediately after 3 is finished, hey why not?

The tracks so far are totally stunning! This project has been a real priviledge and pleasure and when youse get yours, you will see how!

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 00:44 (eighteen years ago)

Right, I've updated and expanded the scope of the page.

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 01:14 (eighteen years ago)

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 01:21 (eighteen years ago)

Awww, crap! I can't believe I missed this thread!!!

Tantrum The Cat, Friday, 30 March 2007 01:29 (eighteen years ago)

Lots of standout tracks, mark?

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Friday, 30 March 2007 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

Every one of them!

Some real "blimey! Where did that come from?" moments for sure.

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 01:45 (eighteen years ago)

Any favourites?

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Friday, 30 March 2007 01:49 (eighteen years ago)

Just wait for Tom's and mine. The world will tremble.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 30 March 2007 01:50 (eighteen years ago)

I do have one favourite, yes.

And that's all I'm saying.

If anyone wnts to run a poll when it's done, feel free.

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 01:52 (eighteen years ago)

Ned reading Pi with music from Marissa would've been fantastic.
Did you ask MM for a track?

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Friday, 30 March 2007 02:00 (eighteen years ago)

I did, she politely declined.

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 02:07 (eighteen years ago)

That's a pity.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Friday, 30 March 2007 02:24 (eighteen years ago)

If you are on the list and your track is not in yet, you are VULNERABLE....!

Basically, I don't want to make it a double. Mainly because it would get too long, sequencing a nightmare, and too much would get swamped. Having said that, if I get all the tracks on the list without an ETA by the end of the month, I may have to think this again...

Hold on... having said that end of April is OK for submission of the track, you're now saying it might not be?

I have committed to providing a track by April 25th latest on the understanding that it would be on the album. You will definitely get the track by then, hopefully a couple of days earlier, depending on how much mixing is needed.

Will the track be on the album?

Dr.C, Friday, 30 March 2007 08:21 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, Dr C.

That "Vulnerable" bit is aimed at the 'white bit' on the page.

Mark G, Friday, 30 March 2007 08:37 (eighteen years ago)

OK - that's great. Thanks, Mark. All systems go then.

Dr.C, Friday, 30 March 2007 08:46 (eighteen years ago)

This thread took some finding!

Anyway, let's try this:

The nice new up-to-date page with PHOTOS (ok, one)

Mark G, Saturday, 31 March 2007 00:08 (eighteen years ago)

picture is BROKAN

chaki, Saturday, 31 March 2007 00:11 (eighteen years ago)

Tis OK here!

And it was on my work one.

Mark G, Saturday, 31 March 2007 00:15 (eighteen years ago)

That Go-Quick page no existie.

whatevs its cool heh.

chaki, Saturday, 31 March 2007 00:24 (eighteen years ago)

really?

It should be there!

Mark G, Saturday, 31 March 2007 00:31 (eighteen years ago)

hey, here is the link to my awesome myspace page:

http://www.myspace.com/sleepyseaplane

You can add it to the go-quick page, if you like.

jel --, Saturday, 31 March 2007 11:19 (eighteen years ago)

It's hard to find threads thesedays.

Search doesn't show them, there is no "show all" anymore, and if it wasn't for my own 'history', I'd lose threads!

.. ditto this one.

Mark G, Monday, 2 April 2007 09:55 (eighteen years ago)

Please continue to send stuff, but after this week, I may not be able to pick up tracks or update the page for ooh 2 weeks.

But I am not abandoning youse. 2 weeks!

Mark G, Monday, 2 April 2007 09:57 (eighteen years ago)

Hi Mark I WILL send the edit of our track, promise. So, you can knock a minute and a half off the running time! It'll be there by the time you get back.

Jamie T Smith, Monday, 2 April 2007 13:14 (eighteen years ago)

Our myspace is here. Our rarely updated website is here. If you want a photo, just steal the one from the myspace, I like that one. Chaki's picture doesn't work for me, either.

Also, can someone just remind me of the date for the gig? I couldn't find the thread.

emil.y, Monday, 2 April 2007 13:16 (eighteen years ago)

Errr... the gig is Sunday 17th June.

Actually, I should check that with Tim. But yes, that is when it is planned for.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 2 April 2007 13:18 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, cool. The mister has to book the monday off to be able to go, so I just needed to double-check.

emil.y, Monday, 2 April 2007 13:19 (eighteen years ago)

I'll redo the page from scratch when the barrier's down.

Very odd, not everyone can see the pic. I can, wherever. Must be rowser thing.

Mark G, Monday, 2 April 2007 22:45 (eighteen years ago)

Browser, I mean.

Mark G, Monday, 2 April 2007 22:45 (eighteen years ago)

my/our website: http://theglassbottomboat, http://myspace.com/cartamusic. Pictures on there. all the ones of my face are blurry. use those.

akm, Monday, 2 April 2007 23:00 (eighteen years ago)

too bad we couldn't get a Mountain Goats track.

akm, Monday, 2 April 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Well, the previous comps didn't have the two notable 'signed' acts, presumably by default than actual prevention.

Mark G, Monday, 2 April 2007 23:10 (eighteen years ago)

Trackfolks!

What I plan to do is set up a top page with a fairly simple layout, nd page links for each track.

Here's a 'beta' for the Chaki one.

I've sent links to the artists that have sent me pics so far.

So, get yr pics/text in and it'll all look fairly alright.

Mark G, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 23:16 (eighteen years ago)

so...you need phootografic picture it is here http://myspace.com/byzantum

informative info there as well

Vas Djifrens, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 23:38 (eighteen years ago)

"WE ARE BYZANTUM, UNHOLY WOLFEN WARRIORS OF NIGHTSPIRIT. WE PLAY TRUE PITCHBLACK METAL. NO KEYBOARD, AUDIBLE VOCAL STYLINGS OR SELLOUT. ONLY PURE NEKRO KVLTIC WOLFEN GUITARDUM BLAST. ALL OTHER BAND PALES BEFORE US, INDEED ALL MORTALS."

very informative and factual and true

Vas Djifrens, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 23:39 (eighteen years ago)

I'll send mine in soon. If it helps I could do an edit, so it would be like 3 mins instead of 5?

Jordan, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 23:46 (eighteen years ago)

That'd be lovely.

Mark G, Wednesday, 4 April 2007 23:47 (eighteen years ago)

Right, I'm working through some of the text/pics I've been sent, and will email peoples with their pages to review.

I'll be away, but will check in when I can for outstanding tracks (well, tracks I'm waiting on, they are all outstanding you know what I mean), and etc.

Mark G, Thursday, 5 April 2007 12:21 (eighteen years ago)

CHILX ALL-STAR JAM BAND is set to record again this Saturday. Hopefully we'll figure out what the hell we're doing and have something set to send in next weekish.

n/a, Thursday, 5 April 2007 13:31 (eighteen years ago)

Sorry for going quiet on everyone, work has been really busy lately and I haven't had time to check ILX :(

Progress Report: We are booked in for recording on Monday. I've all but done with my part for Elektrik Komet Theorie but I just want to go over it and tidy it up a bit tonight, then I'll send it to Kate, who is mixing it I think.

tissp, Thursday, 5 April 2007 13:36 (eighteen years ago)

Argh! TISSP! No, you are mixing it, I thougt. I know, I know I am supposed to give you my bits - I did mix them down, just forgot to post them to you. Are you coming tomorrow, and ifso, can I just give you the CD then?

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 5 April 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)

Give it to me and I will mix it in the Hotel Glo in Helsinki?

Ed, Thursday, 5 April 2007 13:43 (eighteen years ago)

Ooh, that's an idea. TISSP, what do you think?

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 5 April 2007 13:45 (eighteen years ago)

That sounds like good fun to me! I will try and get my parts done tonight, then I will bring them tomorrow and we can both give CDs to Ed!

Alternatively, I really don't mind mixing it either!

tissp, Thursday, 5 April 2007 13:51 (eighteen years ago)

So long as he uses LOTS of step delay and not a lot of compression. Heh.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 5 April 2007 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

pic/info from me en route, mark

andrew m., Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

you rule for taking this on, btw!

andrew m., Thursday, 5 April 2007 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

Revive.\\(I'm in florida)

Mark G, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 23:12 (eighteen years ago)

I sent a rough mix of spangle maker to Kate and I fully expect her to go, Boxcar no! no! no! and send it back or do it herself. However if she does not then It might get finished tonight.

Ed, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 08:15 (eighteen years ago)

Also, TISSP if you are out there send me your email address so you can get a copy of the mix, or maybe Kate can forward it.

Ed, Wednesday, 11 April 2007 08:16 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know who to send this to so whatever here it is.

TOMBOT IS LEAKING TRACKS STOP HIM

Edward III, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 19:15 (eighteen years ago)

I sent mark the aiff link, it sounds bigger and bolder

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 17 April 2007 20:13 (eighteen years ago)

that brings up a good point. mark, do you want an aiff or wav file?

Edward III, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 04:54 (eighteen years ago)

Hi,

I'm not in a great position to get tracks right now, but will catch up when I get home.

Tom, if that link still works and it sounds good, great. If not, I will let you know.

Edward, don't know. Aiff sounds smaller. But I did get a wav from Dominique and that sounded great, so if you can send it, I can receive it.

LATERS!

Mark G, Friday, 20 April 2007 00:51 (eighteen years ago)

Mark - I will have a track for you next Tuesday. We have recorded and will remix on Monday. I am thinking that I will have to send on a CD by post as I may not be able to e-mail a WAV. Would it be possible for you to e-mail me your postal address via ILX webmail?

Dr.C, Friday, 20 April 2007 07:34 (eighteen years ago)

I will get fresh vocal tomorrow I am told.

Ed, Friday, 20 April 2007 08:38 (eighteen years ago)

GET FRESH AT THE WEEKEND

aldo, Friday, 20 April 2007 09:08 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, I swear. I will burn them tonight and you shall have them tomorrow. Honest. You might want to text me and remind me tonight, though.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 April 2007 09:09 (eighteen years ago)

I might do a 'pre-release' page if that's alright, consisting of the vols 1 and 2...

That wd be very welcome! I have no 1 but never was able to get the other one.

anatol_merklich, Friday, 20 April 2007 11:46 (eighteen years ago)

That was a long time ago.

Decided against it, decided to concentrate on this one.

See other messages about getting vols 1 and 2

Mark G, Saturday, 21 April 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

dr c - you could also upload the wav file to a service like sendspace.com and just e-mail mark the download link. uploaded files are available for a limited amount of time, so I'm gonna wait till mark's back to do this.

mark when are you back and able to receive files?

Edward III, Saturday, 21 April 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

I'm back as of today.

Mark G, Saturday, 21 April 2007 18:59 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks, Edward. But I'd screw it up somehow, so I am posting a CD to you Mark!

Dr.C, Sunday, 22 April 2007 11:18 (eighteen years ago)

Here's me saying "righto"

Mark G, Monday, 23 April 2007 01:03 (eighteen years ago)

And here's me saying:

I have Andrew M's webpage to do, and one track to 'translate'. (Tombot/Ned's)

I got one zip file from Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy. It's big! What is it? Lots of tracks? Which one? I haven't unzipped it as yet!

Mark G, Monday, 23 April 2007 09:21 (eighteen years ago)

Track should be ready and on its way this week, maybe tomorrow!

G00blar, Monday, 23 April 2007 09:23 (eighteen years ago)

I gave Ed updated vocal tracks on Saturday, so it's now up to him when you get Elektrickometheorie (infinity) ...

Masonic Boom, Monday, 23 April 2007 09:30 (eighteen years ago)

I toured alkyhell yesterday so I will mix it tonight.

Ed, Monday, 23 April 2007 09:31 (eighteen years ago)

Mark - CD is in the post. You should get it tomorrow! I changed my mind at the last minute about which track, so please ignore the first of the two e-mails. The proper track is 'Close Your Eyes'.

Dr.C, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 11:26 (eighteen years ago)

I'm in "Sequencing heaven" at the moment.

There seems two logical start sequences.

What can it all mean?

Mark G, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 08:32 (eighteen years ago)

Spanglemaker is mixed now. TISSP needs to hear it and I need to eliminate 4 pops from the master.

Ed, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 08:33 (eighteen years ago)

Mark--Monday, latest, I promise!

G00blar, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 09:15 (eighteen years ago)

Mark - did you get the info and pic via e-mail? You should get the CD in the post today!

Dr.C, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 10:06 (eighteen years ago)

Yep.

Mark G, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 11:04 (eighteen years ago)

Hi folks. Not been around much, but city seventeen's contribution is ready now--I will email the link to you mark soon so you can download it.

Ed I will email you my email address.

tissp, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 12:32 (eighteen years ago)

mark, I'll get my track to you tomorrow.

Edward III, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 13:38 (eighteen years ago)

Sent you an email with the link Mark.

tissp, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 14:29 (eighteen years ago)

Is Ed finished getting the pops out of it yet?

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 14:29 (eighteen years ago)

Oh wait, you mean C17, not us, sorry, never mind.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 14:29 (eighteen years ago)

:)

tissp, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 14:31 (eighteen years ago)

mark did you get the big AIFF or just the m4a?

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 14:33 (eighteen years ago)

the aiff.

Mark G, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 15:22 (eighteen years ago)

mark, do I need to send you a wav?

akm, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

Need, no. If you have an mp3, that'd be best:

1) I'd only convert it down, so if you do it, you know it's right
2) ah there isn't a 2.

But if you have no mp3, wav might be best. I've had some aifs but haven't been able to do anything with them yet (no time).

Mark G, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 15:50 (eighteen years ago)

You not burning wavs Mark?

tissp, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

(I fully intend to use this as a generic question/exclamation from now on: "dude i was totally burning wavs last night")

tissp, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)

1) Is there an absolute deadline?
2) Where do I send my tune again?
3) Is it okay if it's 5 min or should I really make an effort to do an edit?

Jordan, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)

i've just thought of something. would you like a tune my band recorded in like 1995?

CharlieNo4, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:04 (eighteen years ago)

Mine's 2 mins 31. I told Mark 3 mins 30 beforehand, so there's a whole extra minute free now.

Dr.C, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:12 (eighteen years ago)

Ours is 4:37 (I seem to remember)

tissp, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

That's prog.

Dr.C, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

You should see the album edit

tissp, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)

hopefully mark is

1) using wav/aiff files for the CD
2) using mp3 files for the download page

there's a free aiff-to-wav converter called dbpoweramp. aiff-to-wav is a lossless-to-lossless conversion so there shouldn't be any sound degredation. not sure how mark + contributors feel about that, though.

Edward III, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)

ans:
1) urrm...
2) See above for page links, etc.
3) fortune favours the breve.

I dunno, it's really about the flow of the article. If it really spills over to 2 CDs, it may not matter. I did ask one contrib to send the edit version he'd already made but then I sort of like it as it is.

Mark G, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)

right, the rule of thumb I'm applying to sound/lossless/etc is:

1) Whatever sounds right in the company it's keeping.

I'll burn wavs if supplied (I'm testing them out with mp3s for the listening factor) but if it gets difficult with burning multiformats, well we'll have to see.

Mark G, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:18 (eighteen years ago)

Ed's message is interesting though, so I will check that out.

Mark G, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:19 (eighteen years ago)

who me? what did I do?

Ed, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)

hopefully mark is

1) using wav/aiff files for the CD
2) using mp3 files for the download page

2 is correct, 1 yes if supplied.

Mark G, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:27 (eighteen years ago)

if you want to play with it mark it's here:

download page for dbpoweramp:
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

aiff codec for dbpoweramp (you need to download and install this after installing dbpoweramp, then you'll be able to do aiff-to-wav conversions):
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-aiff.htm

Edward III, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 16:42 (eighteen years ago)

thanks!

Mark G, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 18:39 (eighteen years ago)

NOTICE!

Ken C, Nabisco, Nickalicious, Sleeve, andwhat - I haven't had any info about your tracks for a while. Time (on the CD) is tight, so help a brother tell me how long the track is and how long it'll take!

Electric Comet thingy, Pashmina - Am I right in assuming your tracks are 'soon come'?

Gooblar and Edward iii - I'm awaiting yours in the next day or so, I believe.

Mark G - You are a lazy git I haven't had any info about your track, you are in danger of not being on it at all!

Everyone else - Sorry folks, no new tracks / artists now.

Mark G, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:01 (eighteen years ago)

I haven't done pop-hunt yet, will get cracking but tissp and kate are happy otherwise. I may be being overly fenickety.

Ed, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:02 (eighteen years ago)

"soon come" yeah. I need to get mark over to stick some gtr on it.

Pashmina, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:05 (eighteen years ago)

Will be Monday, Mark, thanks!

G00blar, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:06 (eighteen years ago)

You did receive my track via the postman, Mark?

Dr.C, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:14 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, this morning.

I'll update the web pages over the weekend most likely.

Mark G, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:18 (eighteen years ago)

rockin' good news!

Dr.C, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:21 (eighteen years ago)

Hey! It looks like the Chicago thread all-star band will have a song to submit after all. We're ironing out some details, like what we're going to call the song and the "band," but I should be able to send it in later today.

n/a, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:45 (eighteen years ago)

Uh, I can send mine this weekend...can I?

Jordan, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:46 (eighteen years ago)

Do I just email it to m✧✧✧.grout✧✧✧@i✧.c✧✧?

n/a, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:46 (eighteen years ago)

ha ha

n/a, Friday, 27 April 2007 13:47 (eighteen years ago)

mark I have sent you a thing.

Edward III, Friday, 27 April 2007 14:52 (eighteen years ago)

blimey, he has, hasn't he?

Mark G, Friday, 27 April 2007 15:06 (eighteen years ago)

hey Mark I am in Peru and my drummer was supposed to send a track, just sent her an email as I have no idea what's up. If we miss deadline, then that's that I guess.

sleeve, Friday, 27 April 2007 15:55 (eighteen years ago)

Chicago crew has sent a song to Mark via the gmail address. Hope that was the right thing to do.

n/a, Friday, 27 April 2007 19:54 (eighteen years ago)

I also sent mine to Mark's gmail.

Jordan, Saturday, 28 April 2007 18:32 (eighteen years ago)

Things arriving! Blimey!

Mark G, Saturday, 28 April 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)

Hi Mark, drummer says "not going to happen", so you can take Sleeve/Chanteuse off the list and put in some other lucky person. :(

sleeve, Saturday, 28 April 2007 23:40 (eighteen years ago)

OK, thanks for letting me know.

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 07:33 (eighteen years ago)

HEY HEY!

Page Update!

http://www.go-quick.com/ILXVol3.html

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 11:03 (eighteen years ago)

Sterling work, geezer! Could you please add our myspace address : www.myspace.com/anationmournsmusic

ta!

Dr.C, Monday, 30 April 2007 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

I'm still working through the 'information' aspect(s) of the pages, so I have not forgotten or lost those myspace type pages...

Also, the "yes" to the Info pages is more a reminder to myself as to who awaits the pages, not so much who hasn't sent stuff (as yet).

(in short, WIP)

However, if your track info is wrong or missing, and you have sent the track, let me know!

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

Fine stuff!

Dr.C, Monday, 30 April 2007 11:40 (eighteen years ago)

Somebody pls. to poke Ed with sharp sticks until he finishes mixing ours.

I think he's taking this Kevin Sheilds thing a bit far.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 30 April 2007 11:45 (eighteen years ago)

Right, I've had a skim, and I have 24 tracks in, and a running time of 86 minutes.

What to do!

1) Appeal to those who have supplied long tracks to um supply something shorter or edit their masterpiece

2) Have a lottery and drop tracks from the disc (if not the d/l page)

Naturally, 1) would be best.

Yeah, I know you'd all like a two disc set, but let's be practical here: Not everyone is going to love every track (some may well do, I know I do). At least if it's not to your taste, at least it will be over soonish. I'm awaiting at least two tracks I know are going to be great (from previous comp appearances) and it would be tempting to shut doors as soon as they are in. That would not be fair to people actually creating anew, rather than sending something ready-prepared.

Also, one disc of mightily sequenced excellence is a must. 2 discs will wear you down!

I have absolutely no problem if your edited piece is on the disc and the long version is on the d/l page. That'd be fine!

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:06 (eighteen years ago)

How many minutes can you overburn a CD and have it still reliable? I've done 82 minute burns before but not above that I don't think.

blueski, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:12 (eighteen years ago)

Well, I'm trying to keep it all in, as the Beautiful South might say...

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:13 (eighteen years ago)

What kind of "information" are you looking for?

n/a, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:20 (eighteen years ago)

1) Pic
2) Band info/credits
3) Track info/credits
4) Myspace/other link
5) Miscellaneous/other.

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:24 (eighteen years ago)

Um, is this a bad time to say that I've just sent you our track? It's only 2 and a half minutes!

G00blar, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:25 (eighteen years ago)

GREAT!

(ah I must have meant waiting on 3 tracks)

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:33 (eighteen years ago)

Sent. Prepare to be surrounded by Kates.

Ed, Monday, 30 April 2007 12:42 (eighteen years ago)

Should surely be first come first served and save up the other tracks for the next comp? Seems only fair...

Tom D., Monday, 30 April 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, surely I should get the finished version, too?

First come, first served is rubbitch when you are dealing with things like studio time and trying to get bands coordinated. It's the least fair option.

Masonic Boom, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:37 (eighteen years ago)

Finished version is same as the last because I can't find the pops.

Ed, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:38 (eighteen years ago)

What Kate sez. I said I couldn't deliver until April 24, and that's when I delivered.

Maybe a couple of the longer trax should be asked if they are willing/able to edit first.

Dr.C, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)

Yes but those trax will be ready for the next comp.. by which time you'll probably hate them of course ... I know how these things work

Tom D., Monday, 30 April 2007 13:41 (eighteen years ago)

Someone should smoosh all the songs together so the beginnings and ends of songs overlap. That will save time.

n/a, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

Or we should just cut the shitty songs.

n/a, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

That would not be fair to people actually creating anew, rather than sending something ready-prepared.

As I say.

xpost there are no shitty songs.

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:43 (eighteen years ago)

Well, yes, of course, but who decides? Obv. not Mark!

Tom D., Monday, 30 April 2007 13:43 (eighteen years ago)

Me

n/a, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:44 (eighteen years ago)

do a poll (arf)

blueski, Monday, 30 April 2007 13:45 (eighteen years ago)

I will take a swipe at an edit.

Edward III, Monday, 30 April 2007 14:51 (eighteen years ago)

appreciation for Ed3!

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

don't applaud the guy who opens a hatch on a submarine just cause he offers to go get a bucket...

Edward III, Monday, 30 April 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)

well, technically, latebloomer has two songs on it. if he only had one that would free some time for someone else. up to him though.

chaki, Monday, 30 April 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

no louis jagger track :(

chaki, Monday, 30 April 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

well, technically, his two are shorter than some's one.

If it becomes an issue, well....

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

NAME NAMES

n/a, Monday, 30 April 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

no.

Mark G, Monday, 30 April 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

you can cut one of them if you have to, it's a'ight

latebloomer, Monday, 30 April 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

shit keep em. is mine too long?

chaki, Monday, 30 April 2007 22:29 (eighteen years ago)

Hey wait, what's with the 'AIFF Oh NOe' designation for Tom's and mine?

Ned Raggett, Monday, 30 April 2007 22:31 (eighteen years ago)

if this is an audio cd everything should be burned from aiff or wav; i suppose you can do it with mp3s but there is going to be slight degradation of sound quality. not that this is going into shops or anyone cares, probably. you shouldn't have to do any kind of file conversion from an aiff to a wav or vice versa.

akm, Monday, 30 April 2007 22:46 (eighteen years ago)

I think he sorted it out.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 00:56 (eighteen years ago)

Plan: To burn ting from Wav or mp3. Aif to get converted to wav.

Chaki: totally fine.

Late: Possibly, but that's the final option..

I don't want to (and I have no intention of) can(ning) anyone.

Mark G, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 07:43 (eighteen years ago)

If there's not enough room and you don't want to do a double I'm OK w/holding off 'till the next one.

Pashmina, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 08:43 (eighteen years ago)

Pash, I don't see why two tracks can or should be seven mins plus when there's other people confirmed in. If it can be avoided...

Mark G, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 08:45 (eighteen years ago)

Heh, the problem is, the track I've written is, er, seven mins plus.

Pashmina, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 10:43 (eighteen years ago)

Oh pash. GO and sit in the corner.

Mark G, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 10:44 (eighteen years ago)

I'm warming to the idea of a CD2 being:

1) composed of the longer tracks
2) d/l page only.

Mark G, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 10:45 (eighteen years ago)

What constitutes a "long" song in the context of the current CD, Mark?

(i.e. do you want me to do some re-editing?)

tissp, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:29 (eighteen years ago)

The borderline seems to be five mins and 1 sec.

Your track's OK.

Mark G, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:31 (eighteen years ago)

Rather than distribute hard copy why don't we have a double, but distributed as two mastered .iso files available through bittorent?

Ed, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:31 (eighteen years ago)

Because I haven't got a fuckin' clue what you're on about

Tom D., Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:33 (eighteen years ago)

xpost
Because that would confuse me.

Ned Trifle II, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:33 (eighteen years ago)

Your track's OK.

I'm totally going to use this as blurb on press releases

tissp, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:34 (eighteen years ago)

And what Tom said...

Ned Trifle II, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:34 (eighteen years ago)

CD 1 = "Home of the hits" - Format : CD and d/l page
CD 2 = "Stretch Out Time" = Format: d/l page.

If someone wants to host bit-torrent / other formats, that's up to them.

Mark G, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:35 (eighteen years ago)

... and if you need any long tracks for the 2nd CD I can send you some, ha ha

Tom D., Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:37 (eighteen years ago)

Your proposal sounds great to me, Mark.

Dr.C, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:42 (eighteen years ago)

thank you.

Mark G, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:51 (eighteen years ago)

Hi Mark

I am sendspacing you the wav of the edit of our track as we speak! It's 4.04, as opposed to 5.35, so that should help! Yes please to the longer version on the d/l page and the shorter on the CD.

Info and stuff (and I don't write our blurb-y things so please, please don't be mean)

Jamie T Smith, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 11:58 (eighteen years ago)

I'm just relievd you're not actually the Jamie T in the charts.

blueski, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 12:01 (eighteen years ago)

HAHAHA

I think I actually pointed this out when he first came out, just in case anyone had the wrong idea, like.

Jamie T Smith, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 12:06 (eighteen years ago)

Mark, I've hacked 3:45 out of my track - so unless things have changed that would put the CD at 82:15?

only problem is spring has sprung here in beautiful rhode island, my allergetic head is stuffed full of goo, and I can't hear properly. can I get my edit to you later this week once my eustachian tubes are unclogged?

Edward III, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 12:58 (eighteen years ago)

p.s. having long tracks being download-only is like you're saying they're separate but equal. AND THAT'S RACIST.

LONG SONGS HAVE RIGHTS TOO

Edward III, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:02 (eighteen years ago)

Rather than distribute hard copy why don't we have a double, but distributed as two mastered .iso files available through bittorent?

hahaha this ain't slashdot, fella

Edward III, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 13:06 (eighteen years ago)

Right, Nabisco, Ken C, Nickalicious, "and what", where are you?

Last call!

Mark G, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

I revive!

Mark G, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 08:41 (eighteen years ago)

Is mine one of the long ones? If so, I can edit it and get it to you by the weekend.

Capitaine Jay Vee, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 09:13 (eighteen years ago)

Yours is fine.

I'm going to have to

1) Close the door (Pashmina excepted, his is a long one ooerr missus all that)

2) Check the running times of all but the long tracks

3) Update the pages to let people know.

My initial thought was to have the long tracks on a d/l CD2, but there seems to be a lot of "I'll edit it keep me on CD1" responses.

Ed3, I do think your track makes sense the long version, but what can I do? it seems cruel to make it 2 mins 30!

Anyway, watch this space, I'll try and get back later.

Mark G, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 09:41 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe it's time to start properly organising the Festival, then. Sigh.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 10:20 (eighteen years ago)

Yes.

G00blar, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 10:21 (eighteen years ago)

Ed3, I do think your track makes sense the long version, but what can I do? it seems cruel to make it 2 mins 30!

actually, the edit is around 4:15. if it completely violated the spirit of the original I'd give you something else. the edit's grown on me. I like the form and structure. unfortunately the mix is kind of muddy, which might have something to do with the stuffy head behind the controls.

I can send you a rough cut mp3 of the edit as a placeholder, while I continue to work out the mix issues.

Edward III, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 14:11 (eighteen years ago)

I wanted to hear Ethan's track. :(

Jordan, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)

What can yer do?

Mark G, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

didja get the edit mark?

Edward III, Wednesday, 2 May 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

I did! And it's excellent in its new form! It does not lose anything! Shows what I know.

Anyroad, I have created a first go at a CD, and it's blummin 82 minutes!

Caveat: I was going to be on it myself, but I have two reasons for maybe not being:

1) My drummer/producer friend seems to have disappeared! (Not as in lord lucan, just I've been running around for work reasons, and he's been busy for new baby reasons. This means that the track we were working on will not be ready, and in any case was 4 mins.

2) So, I could record something myself, or haul out something from the archives. Unfortunately, they are all at least 15 years old, and I have no intention of being the worst track on the CD (i.e. don't want to reduce the overall quality of submissions for vanity reasons. This is not false modesty, tis is purely practical.

This has to be ready for the ILXorlooper show, so I have to close the doors now, unless someone who has previously submitted wants to supply :
1) A wav version of their track
2) A new edit (i.e. shorter)
.. in which case, time is tight!

Mark G, Thursday, 3 May 2007 08:23 (eighteen years ago)

xpost back a few: Yeah, I wanted to hear "You never her" but again, what can yer do?

Mark G, Thursday, 3 May 2007 08:24 (eighteen years ago)

Are 82 mins CDs robust?

Dr.C, Thursday, 3 May 2007 08:38 (eighteen years ago)

We'll find out: I have a journey tomorrow, we'll see!

Mark G, Thursday, 3 May 2007 08:47 (eighteen years ago)

http://www.go-quick.com/ILXVol3.html

Updated, to reflect more the CD content.

Heigh ho!

Mark G, Thursday, 3 May 2007 11:09 (eighteen years ago)

Chriddof / The Love Song / 0:32

So, in future, this is the sort of track length we should be aiming for?

Tom D., Thursday, 3 May 2007 11:12 (eighteen years ago)

Too bleedin' right, mate! :)

Mark G, Thursday, 3 May 2007 11:21 (eighteen years ago)

thanks Mark! I'll try to get you a final mix soon.

I think the safe limit for overburning is around 83 minutes. the potential problem is having a non-redbook standard cd that may not play on all cd players - but this could be a negligible issue nowadays.

Edward III, Thursday, 3 May 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

HEY KATE AND TISSP WHY DONT YOU TAKE YOUR SONG OFF INSTED OF HAVING 2 EACH. IT WOULD BE THE POLITE THING TO DO. THANKS! :)

chaki, Sunday, 6 May 2007 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

chaki: It's OK, really.

The track is well worth having, and I don't have anyone 'blocked' out.

The stop on contributions has been down for some time, and the only tracks 'prevented' are the 'very long' i.e. 5 mins plus.

I've got a good sequence worked out for the top half of CD1, the second part needs some rearangement.

Only I know for sure, but mates it's going to amaze you!

Best compilation this year, for sure.

Mark G, Sunday, 6 May 2007 22:30 (eighteen years ago)

Edward III, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 13:34 (eighteen years ago)

OK, cheers.

Mark G, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 13:49 (eighteen years ago)

Mark G, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 13:50 (eighteen years ago)

xx

ken c, Thursday, 31 May 2007 10:18 (eighteen years ago)

That's the plan.

Mark G, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

I can bring a load to chicago in august but I am guessing you want them sooner than that.

Ed, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)

Lets see how many physical copies there are left after sunday.

Mark G, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

how many are there to start with

g-kit, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 15:10 (eighteen years ago)

Uh...

n/a, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 15:10 (eighteen years ago)

Oh crap, I missed the deadline on this, didn't I!

nabisco, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

Yup. There was five seconds running time left on it.

Mark G, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

You probably wouldn't have time for a middle-eight if you took that slot.

G00blar, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

EVERYONE IS UNDERMINING ME

nabisco, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

Nabisco, we can just tell everyone that you "produced" the Chicago all-star jam if you want.

n/a, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

Or played the slide whistle (there is slide whistle involved).

n/a, Wednesday, 13 June 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

Mark G, Thursday, 14 June 2007 07:39 (eighteen years ago)

Still no sign of the fucking disks. I hate parcelforce.

Ed, Thursday, 14 June 2007 14:25 (eighteen years ago)

jeez..

Mark G, Thursday, 14 June 2007 14:30 (eighteen years ago)

parcelfarce more lik

Ed, Thursday, 14 June 2007 14:32 (eighteen years ago)

Hang in there Ed!

Am I watching over Irish distribution as mentioned on other thread or will individuals be able to paypal a copy?

kv_nol, Thursday, 14 June 2007 14:35 (eighteen years ago)

I think the best way would be to have certain people in distribution areas.

It's all sort of depending on how many are left after sunday.

That's if they ever get there, dammit!!!

Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:25 (eighteen years ago)

AAARARARAARARAARARAARARARAARARARARARRAARRARAARRARGH

having asked for redelivery to my work the tracking information says they are held in the depot. FUCK PARCELFARCE IN THE PARCELARSE.

Ed, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:28 (eighteen years ago)

How can i get one without going to gig which i fear i will miss due to familial obligations? Also willing to pay good money for copy of poster which is acey.

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:44 (eighteen years ago)

THEY ARE MAKING ME LISTEN TO FUCKING COLDPLAY

Ed, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:44 (eighteen years ago)

Who, Parcelforce? Bastarts!

Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:50 (eighteen years ago)

They have been fuck all use and there is no management to complain to. If I get this training plan written quickly I will try and get to the depot, it is not far, but I am very busy and have to get on a train at 1400.

Ed, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:53 (eighteen years ago)

I'm sorry about all this, I did think that there would be plenty time, given the duplication place's 48 hour turnaround, even though that proved to be an outside estimate and they took a day to do it.

It's the last stage that gets yer, aint it?

Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 08:59 (eighteen years ago)

i hate delivery companies, they are all shit, but parcelforce is the worst.

Ed, Friday, 15 June 2007 09:18 (eighteen years ago)

Also willing to pay good money for copy of poster which is acey.

OTM. Seriously good, Masonic Boom.

Ed, you're being great. Don't kill anyone! Hurt, maim and destroy fine but hold off on the murder.

kv_nol, Friday, 15 June 2007 09:26 (eighteen years ago)

I have a box, it only to took a couple of maimings. Of course I have no idea what is in the box but it does have my name on it.

Ed, Friday, 15 June 2007 12:27 (eighteen years ago)

An updated Pandora's box perhaps? What will you release into the world one wonders...

Also: Good news!

kv_nol, Friday, 15 June 2007 12:28 (eighteen years ago)

open the box (see whatcha got)

Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 12:29 (eighteen years ago)

"it's full of stars..."

kv_nol, Friday, 15 June 2007 14:19 (eighteen years ago)

It certainly is.

Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

Hurrah for box!

Oh, people want posters? I suppose I can print a few more out and make them available at the gig. They look really nice on blue paper.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 15 June 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

make them available at the gig

Therein lies the problem!

kv_nol, Friday, 15 June 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

The CDs look great and they play too.

Ed, Friday, 15 June 2007 19:07 (eighteen years ago)

I want one

El Tomboto, Friday, 15 June 2007 19:17 (eighteen years ago)

Is this going on AMG or discogs.com

El Tomboto, Friday, 15 June 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

Make sure you get the details right when you upload to gracenote!

El Tomboto, Friday, 15 June 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)

don't mean to be self-centered, but did the long tracks make it to the cd? i assume not.

Michael F Gill, Friday, 15 June 2007 21:40 (eighteen years ago)

quick answer: Check the page. The tracks that 'made it' are there, albeit not in the track order (that page gets released monday)

In actual fact, only one track got dropped for being too long, so apologies to that artist.

Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)

I just checked the page. Ahem....

The 'alt:plan' was to have two albums. One 'on CD', and one extra as downloadable.

However it seems that the 'late' tracks, on being too late for inclusion for CD1, didn't happen along at all. So, the CD2 consists of two long-version tracks that were 'edited' for CD1, one 'alternate' track by an artist that had one there already, and one that was going to be the 'let's party' final track, but on getting all the tracks in, I couldn't in all concience bump three 'later' tracks for.

Still, with the 'd/l' version, the punter has the option of dropping tracks they don't like as much for those ones. They will be d/l-able.

Oh, and if those 'late/long/unreceived' tracks do happen along later, I'll add them.

Mark G, Friday, 15 June 2007 22:41 (eighteen years ago)

you could have just told me i didn't make the cd

Michael F Gill, Friday, 15 June 2007 22:55 (eighteen years ago)

;)

Michael F Gill, Friday, 15 June 2007 22:55 (eighteen years ago)

I have CDs left. Can people tell me if

1) They want one
2) If they are on it
3) Where they are
4) If they fancy being a regional distribution partner.

We can then work out if we need to get more pressed up. What we could do is get a batch pressed up stateside for US distribution.

Ed, Monday, 18 June 2007 08:48 (eighteen years ago)

i would love a copy, since i'm on it. i'm in the USA.

latebloomer, Monday, 18 June 2007 08:51 (eighteen years ago)

I has a spreadsheet now

Ed, Monday, 18 June 2007 08:53 (eighteen years ago)

i would love a copy, since i'm on it. i'm in the USA.

chaki, Monday, 18 June 2007 09:25 (eighteen years ago)

Ed, need you ask? Please may I have one?

I'm willing to do 4 but I doubt there's a need really, there's only 3 or 4 of us! Will happily take it on though and make sure copies reach the relevant people.

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:02 (eighteen years ago)

i would love a copy, since i'm on it. i'm in the USA.

n/a, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:04 (eighteen years ago)

StanM, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:05 (eighteen years ago)

(I'm also looking for the first two editions, by the way - where do I start looking?)

StanM, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:06 (eighteen years ago)

StanM, good question!

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 10:27 (eighteen years ago)

Am I watching over Irish distribution as mentioned on other thread or will individuals be able to paypal a copy?

Kev-lol, you're my man in Havana on this one. Let me know when teh goods arrive and we will arrange hookup for purchase.

accentmonkey, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

Also to give back DVD. Still unwatched u_u

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 11:23 (eighteen years ago)

Dear Mark G,

Thanks so much for making this happen! The cds look beautiful, and the comp sounds great. They put it on at the ILX Fest last night after the bands, and it went over a hit. (Chaki! Tired of Sex!) Some random drunkards were talking to us at about 1am and were telling us how much they liked it!

G00blar, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:36 (eighteen years ago)

I want one Ed. I'm not on it. I believe there is at least one other ILXOR in the East Midlands and am willing to distribute it to them.

Ned Trifle II, Monday, 18 June 2007 12:51 (eighteen years ago)

I would like me a comp plz.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:05 (eighteen years ago)

i would love a copy, since i'm on it. i'm in the USA.

Jordan, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:24 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, there's a comp as well? I'm confused! GIVE ME EVERYTHING!!

kv_nol, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:24 (eighteen years ago)

i'd like one

akm, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:52 (eighteen years ago)

This has probably been covered upthread, but when will it be online?

n/a, Monday, 18 June 2007 13:57 (eighteen years ago)

Put me on the list for one, also!

Capitaine Jay Vee, Monday, 18 June 2007 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

mark should have my address already, but i too am on it, am in usa, and am want it.

andrew m., Monday, 18 June 2007 16:51 (eighteen years ago)

I will do Glasgowcentric distribution if needs be (i.e. I wants one and will gladly go to the pub if other people want one too)

Also, if anyone could do me copies of 1 and 2, that'd be marvellous.

ailsa, Monday, 18 June 2007 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

if i want a copy where do i send my address to?

latebloomer, Monday, 18 June 2007 19:16 (eighteen years ago)

Hi, Mark G here.

I am teh stupid.

I forgot to get the source code for the d/l page, and now I'm out of the office for all week, maybe until Friday.

However, I shall post the directory as a pro-tem.

Mark G, Monday, 18 June 2007 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

english please

chaki, Monday, 18 June 2007 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

Meantime I'm getting into the spirit by relistening to the first two comps. There's some fine stuff on them!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 01:16 (eighteen years ago)

if anyone wants to zshare/sendspace those first two comps that would be neat.

blueski, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 06:20 (eighteen years ago)

yes please

StanM, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 06:42 (eighteen years ago)

YAY!

kv_nol, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 08:40 (eighteen years ago)

Interim measure: Proper page will be up later this week.

Mark G, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 08:51 (eighteen years ago)

Why must I be at work :(

kv_nol, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 08:52 (eighteen years ago)

Again, like the gig, this is really good!

Tom D., Tuesday, 19 June 2007 09:28 (eighteen years ago)

Aha! I had forgot.

I'm on it, in London but couldn't come to the gig. Could I have a copy if one is spare?

(Will listen tonite anyways)

And thanks for doing this Mark!

Jamie T Smith, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:23 (eighteen years ago)

Ed has got them all. (Actually, I don't even have one now myself, since I sent the master copy in).

Gwan, Ed, stick one in the post to me ta.

Mark G, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:25 (eighteen years ago)

I'm still pleased as punch that Tombot and I got the lead track. :-)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:25 (eighteen years ago)

We should sort out how many there are left, and order a second printrun, during the next week or so.

xpost reference about no-one puts Ned in the corner...

Mark G, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:26 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, I always had your track in mind as being the lead-off. Was basically stoked to find it was brilliant when I got it!

Mark G, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 14:27 (eighteen years ago)

I will audit this evening.

Ed, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks for the upload!

StanM, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

one that was going to be the 'let's party' final track

which left me providing the "let's party" final track hahaha are you daft mang

Edward III, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

It was the "European Son" ending.

Mark G, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)

it's a fair cop

Edward III, Tuesday, 19 June 2007 16:45 (eighteen years ago)

Bump for those not around yesterday.

Ed! How many you got left?

Mark G, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 08:56 (eighteen years ago)

Has this been YSIed?

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 09:12 (eighteen years ago)

1) I'd like also a copy please.
2) I'm not on it, no.
(But if I get with it, it, and I, 'll be together on teh radioair a few times, as neeb per usual with teh ilx-comps :)
(& I can send some 'stonian sounds in exchande too, if wanted)

3) 'm in Estonia (to whom should I send my address?)
4) Tuomas is the only(?) nearby ilxorian to me, but I dunno whether he'd rather download the stuff or...

t**t, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 09:17 (eighteen years ago)

Dom Leone's track on this is awesome!

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 09:31 (eighteen years ago)

Actually the whole thing is great! Internet compilation not sucking shockah, etc.

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 09:59 (eighteen years ago)

This is super excellent.

Ned Trifle II, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 11:41 (eighteen years ago)

Downloading now. Anyone mind if I put some tracks in the webstream at wvvy.org?

Maria :D, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 11:59 (eighteen years ago)

I listened to the first half of this yesterday and so far the Dominique Leone and Robotville tracks are my favorites.

n/a, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 12:02 (eighteen years ago)

Where are you DLing this from? Piecemeal from the link above?

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 12:45 (eighteen years ago)

Who needs piecemeal? I'm using DownThemAll.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 12:46 (eighteen years ago)

Wow - thanks for the tip!

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 13:10 (eighteen years ago)

here's a zip file of the whole thing:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/qejdfx

as a bonus, you get user names in the comments field for each song, and....

not to be a whiner or anything but something's up with my track, sounds like buttocks. if you download the zip file you'll hear what it was supposed to sound like. not sure what happened there mark? victim of normalization? did I space out and send you the wrong mix? who knows...

Edward III, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)

I would like a copy please.

Sorry to those people who emailed me about vols 1 and 2. I was kinda, er I dunno over the last X months. So, even though it's probably too late to regain any creditability, I shall still endeavour to send them, like this week or next.

jel --, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)

if you already downloaded the comp track by track, please please please replace mine with this one.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/k4ak28

mark is there any way you can swap out the file on the download page with this one? comparing the tracks, the one on the download page currently is a good 6 or 9db quieter than it should be. ugh.

Edward III, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

t**t if I can get two copies by July 7th I'll bring you one if you're near tallinn.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

Dude, I am in finland around then, FAP on a hydrofoil?

Ed, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)

Did I miss a Baltic trip announcement? *jealous*

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

Looks like i will be in Tampere 6,7th July Helsinki 8th then Kuopio 13th, 14th July

Ed, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

chaki, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

chaki, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

You were great to even offer. Just imagine how great you'll be if we get them :) Would you like me to resend my address?

kv_nol, Wednesday, 20 June 2007 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

EdwardIII...

I mp3'd the track you sent me, along with everyone elses, basically to keep the standard/format the same.

The CD is mastered from the 'approved' version sent by everyone, so your track is as you sent it, there.

I haven't 'replayed' the d/l mp3s so can't say. But I will swap the version there for your new one, no problem.

That goes for anyone else that thiks the sound sucks on theirs.

Mark G, Thursday, 21 June 2007 08:56 (eighteen years ago)

Is there a Belgian seeder? Nath? Stan?

baaderonixx, Thursday, 21 June 2007 09:17 (eighteen years ago)

I have a bit of time today so I plan to get this wrapped up and sorted.

Can people mail me using the webmail link with addresses and I will work it all out.

Ed, Thursday, 21 June 2007 09:24 (eighteen years ago)

t**t if I can get two copies by July 7th I'll bring you one if you're near tallinn.
-- TOMBOT

Well I'm about-ah two-hour bus trip away from Tallinn. But can - and rather will - be a-bussin' up there if we manage to set some sorta meeting time-n-place for July 7th (that's Sturday, so doable for me, I believe).

t**t, Thursday, 21 June 2007 09:30 (eighteen years ago)

thanks for swapping it out, that's great. I'm just wondering if the placeholder mp3 I sent ended up getting used instead of the final wav file, or if I mistakenly sent the wrong wav file? maybe it's not so quiet on the CD? the original sendspace link I sent you is probably long expired so I can't really check but it's all water under the bridge anyway. what's a few db among friends? I'm baffled more than anything.

thanks to you and ed and everybody else involved in pulling this off. having had a chance to listen to it in its entirety, it really is surprisingly good for a random-internet-yahoo compilation.

and yeah, dominique's track, wow, joy. I wouldn't mind you dicussing the construction of that tune here.

Edward III, Thursday, 21 June 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

ed did you get my webmail from the other day? first one failed so I sent another, let me know if you have 2, 1, or 0 messages from me.

Edward III, Thursday, 21 June 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to start playing the entire ILX comp on the wvvy.org webstream momentarily. Point your player to http://rs1.radiostreamer.com:8360

Maria :D, Thursday, 21 June 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

Ed3, I was fairly careful about keeping the 'right' and 'placeholder' versions separate from each other, so I'm fairly sure it wasn't confused here. In fact, more to the point, I'm sure I wrote the master from the supplied wav, which then became the source for the d/l mp3s. Anyway.... it's still pretty damn loud on the disc.

Mark G, Thursday, 21 June 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

:)

Edward III, Thursday, 21 June 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

maybe it was so loud it was like IM IN UR COMPILATION BRAEKIN UR MP3 ENCODER

Mark G, Friday, 22 June 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

Yay! I haf just sent a bulletin to the MySpace hordes...

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 June 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

Actually I'm more than fine with my own MySpace page up for a link for my track but could you see if Tombot has a preferred link first?

Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 June 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

hell no I'm not even on the internet

El Tomboto, Friday, 22 June 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

Dominique, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

Lovely...

Mark G, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)

I've always been too shy to do this, but if anyone likes track 18, we're playing the Dublin Castle in Camden tomorrow night, plus ham-fisted "DJing" afterwards.

Jamie T Smith, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

Track 18 being The Articles of "Olinda Road" fame, folks.

Mark G, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, I've also just remembered my friend works for the music archive of the British Library. If we want this preserved for the nation, just send me a copy and he'll get it catalogued.

Jamie T Smith, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:13 (eighteen years ago)

Indeed. xpost.

Jamie T Smith, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

That's a good idea!

Mark G, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

Mark G, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

Mark G, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, and EdwardIII - I have updated your mp3 to the one you sent me.

Mark G, Friday, 22 June 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

Mark, can we still have the page updated with a myspace address (myspace.com/cityseventeen in our case)?

I will make a point of friending people on the compilation, since we have hardly any friends :(

blueski, Thursday, 26 July 2007 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

did contributors ever get cds?

no

El Tomboto, Thursday, 26 July 2007 19:55 (eighteen years ago)

also englande has too much high end on the drum samples and I'm aggravated with it now

El Tomboto, Thursday, 26 July 2007 19:56 (eighteen years ago)

but thanks!!!

El Tomboto, Thursday, 26 July 2007 19:56 (eighteen years ago)

did contributors ever get cds?

-- Edward III, Thursday, 26 July 2007 19:51 (5 days ago) Bookmark Link

You know, this has bogged me off a bit now.

I forwarded the entire print run onto Ed for the ILX festival, and they went down a storm, some got sold, and some contributors got copies. All well and good so far.

Since then, they've been stuck in limbo, Ed is away for a while and contributors aint gettin any. I haven't even seen a finished copy myself, let alone got any at all. I really didn't want this to happen, but it has, so I can only apologise. It's not Ed's fault either, it kinda got lumped on him at the last minute as I couldn't go to the gig myself.

So, bear with us and we will get some sort of circulation going.

The d/l page is still up (Tom, if you want to replace your version, forward it on and I'll replace it there)

Mark G, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 13:40 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

Hmm, doesn't seem to have any 'new answers'

So, I'll just say:

The uploading pages are still there for vols 2 and 3, and as I just found vol 1, I may well get round to doing one in the next week or so.
