Let the record show that darraghmac's observation has been stipulated by the parties involved and is no longer in question at this time.

Aimless, Tuesday, 13 March 2007 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

Let us don our subfusc funeral garb and bury our objections to Darraghmac's post.

what did it say? "dear aimurchie. i demarnd you relinquish the rights to your birthday and give me all your worldly goods and chattels because I AM THE QUEEN FUCKING MOTHER"?

if not, the old bat was obviously mellowing in her old age.

I AM THE ONLY ILXOR WHO DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT NU-ILX NOT WORKING LIKE OLD ILX

blueski, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 18:03 (eighteen years ago)

blueski, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, Grimly still bitter about being passed over in the New Years Honors list, eh, Lord Stettington?

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 18:24 (eighteen years ago)

grimly, it said "Happy Birthday"....well, it said "The Queen Mother is especially pleased to receive your note about our birthdays, and would like to wish..."
The crazy thing is, I didn't write to the Queen Mother. My father did, on some drunken lark, presumably.
If she HAD made any demands of worldly goods and chattels it would have been hilarious because:
I was 11 years old and -
I live in America.
I still have the note.
it's really a form letter signed by the Queen Mother.
But it's mine, damn it!

aimurchie, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)

I think blueski has complained about me complaining almost as much as I've complained!

Catsupppppppppppppp dude ‫茄蕃‪, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:04 (eighteen years ago)

I'm still the only ILXor who has a neighbor who was eaten by a python.
(he lived - it was only his left arm, and the arm is still attached. But it was drastic at the time.)

aimurchie, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:08 (eighteen years ago)

...spent the last days actively thinking about this question, but is still stumped.

. . watched the crime scene unit remove a body bag, complete with bloody foot dangling, from the apartment across from me.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)

... had a party full of Canadian diplomats get disrupted by my prostitute neighbor stabbing her pimp, after we all watched him climb up the porch to her apartment (and called the police).

That t shirt looks ironed... just check the sleeves.

kv_nol, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 20:10 (eighteen years ago)

That t shirt looks ironed... just check the sleeves.

it does, doesn't it? can't have been, though: at that time i was living in a hovel and didn't even own an iron.

it was probably the combined effect of the damp in my flat and the lack of ventilation; there must have been some kind of unintentional heat-pressing effect as it lay in a heap on my bedroom floor.

god. that flat. boak.

grimly fiendish, Wednesday, 14 March 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

At the risk of making me sound like a complete twunt here's some :

The only ILXer who has been...

...on the Old Grey Whistle Test
...touched lightly on the hand by Kiera Knightley
...to Phoenix Arizona from London for a 3 hour meeting. Touched down at 2pm, got on the plane back at 8pm the same day.
...to the BAFTAs

Dr.C, Thursday, 15 March 2007 08:22 (eighteen years ago)

I'm probably the only ILXor who has had dinner with Dudley Moore, Patrick Lichfield, and Tiff Needell (not at the same time) and spent a week staying in a French chateau with photographer David Bailey.

C J, Thursday, 15 March 2007 08:26 (eighteen years ago)

Any proof? The picture is pretty damning...

kv_nol, Thursday, 15 March 2007 09:07 (eighteen years ago)

Ok, this is definitely going to rule this thread.
I am the only ILXor who witnessed the president of Mexico's daughters being spirited away from an American boarding school because Mexico gave the Shah of Iran asylum.
1980, I think.
It was very weird.
or maybe it was a former president of Mexico... anyway. the CIA came in to the dorm and literally carried them away.
Because their lives were in danger once the asylum had been granted, so they were, I suppose, flown directly to Mexico.
I don't remember their names.
I remember being woken up to allow the "spiriting away" of the girls, and being impressed with the efficiency that the agents had with packing. It was all over in minutes.

aimurchie, Thursday, 15 March 2007 09:08 (eighteen years ago)

I'm the only ILXor who has been giving a spanking by Manuel Moriega on five consecutive occasions

latebloomer, Thursday, 15 March 2007 09:14 (eighteen years ago)

yes the tense of giving was intentional. for a brief time he was my voodoo man-puppet.

latebloomer, Thursday, 15 March 2007 09:15 (eighteen years ago)

... had a hole between his two front teeth made by surgery.

**I'm probably the only ILXor who has had dinner with Dudley Moore, Patrick Lichfield, and Tiff Needell (not at the same time)**

Goodness!

Why did I read that as Patrick Moore? He'd be fun though.

Dr.C, Thursday, 15 March 2007 11:01 (eighteen years ago)

I'd love to dance with Patrick Moore! To the music of the spheres!

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 15 March 2007 11:07 (eighteen years ago)

Isn't Patrick Moore a Nazi?

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 15 March 2007 11:08 (eighteen years ago)

Well... he dropped a lot of bombs on Germany during the war it seems.
