Today I am wearing Bourjois lipgloss in a sort of pinky peachy colour.

This does not mean I am an advocate of the dogs dinner Kat Slater look.
Putting on make up (and taking it off) are parts of the day where I focus just on me. It's a cross between play and meditation.
I also like the fancy dress aspect i.e. today I want to feel powerful = bright red, black liquid liner; I might get away with it if I look more innocent = pink gloss and baby blue eyes; arty vamp time = deep, deep plum.

However today I look like the undead as I overslept and came flying out.
― Jonnie, Friday, 15 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
Due to thread I have just gone and put a whole load of make up on, so I no longer look like a bat. Amazing thing metamorphasis.
That's funny - I more often laugh at men who do disguise how crap they look with a lashings of mascara. Stick to your guns, Pete.

I am trying to decide whether doing your makeup without a mirror is a useful survival tool or not.
I wait for the traffic lights.

oh but its so fun to put makeup on boys. and they always look better in it than girls do. anyway girls are perfect they don't need makeup.
Emma is the resident makeup expert, all I have on is some mac concealer and lipstick (Nars Gipsy if you must know, fact fans).
*not a typo.
Sorry Graham, I don't speak hacker.
I noted the article claims that the aforementioned special ingredient doesnt smell or taste of anything. I strongly suspect this assertion wasn't made by a woman.
I don't use make-up from chemists/Boots/Top Shop except for Maybelline mascara, but Body Shop tinted glow enhancer and 001 concealer stick are in my Marimekko make-up bag. Along with Shisheido and Shu Uemura translucent powder, and lipsticks from Shisheido, Givenchy (these have little mirrors built in the tube designed by McQueen), Dior, MAC, Iman, Clinique and Borghese. But my favourite thing is the brow definer/dark eyeshadow thing from Shisheido that I got at a Visionaire party in NYC for fashion week last year. Hooray for GOODIE BAGS.
STAFF NEARBY WILL BE HAPPY TO SERVE YOU
Staff, where? There's 2000 square feet of floor space and one sad girl on a till somewhere with a queue of 10 to deal with. Are you fucking kidding me or what? Give me Liberty or...
*shunned by everyone else*
...WELL IT IS!
That'll be a no then.
I heart Kiehl's. I'm kind of schizo when it comes to make up. I like Benefit and Stila but then I also am a maybelline girl. My makeup needs are really simple: black liquid liner, black mascara, loose powder and red lipstick. That's it, all I ever wear. Anything else I buy ends up collecting dust. But its fun to *imagine* that I might wear it.

Do you have Sephoras in Lunnon? They're like CANDY STORES, bright glossy colors everywhere yum YUM. All the brands and none of the sniffy white-coated staff.

I wuv the assistants at Barry M in Top Shop, their makeup is very 'wacky'. (And they are a concession so I am not plugging TS, Barry M also available in Superdrug etc but without the wacky assistants).
Stop contradicting yourself!

Also working for Edgy Style Magazines means I get a lot of my cosmetics knolwledge by osmosis.

Suzy, quite frankly, you have been offensive in this thread.

Also, cosmetics knowledge acquired from working through university for two years for the Body Shop, including *here*, because Anita Roddick offered me the job when she found out I was coming over between terms (nice lady). I don't do the beauty pages for any of the fashion mags I write for, but find myself picking up a lot of information about the subject while never quite remembering where it came from. Call it the 1/3 of my brain reserved for trivia.

I'm not likely to be on the football threads; the only way I used to get through Match Of The Day in a flat shared with LADS was to pick up on Latently Homosexual Commentary Moments. Pointing these out ("And it's Beckham! Taking it tastily up the inside!") was worth it for finding out whether or not my flatmates were homophobes (they weren't; soon they were spotting innuendo all over that broadcast). That's the way I watch my football, if ever (but if I were held at gunpoint re: teams it's Liverpool and Celtic due to being moved by the loyalty of a few friends who support both).
