I'm in. I hate choosing an initial team before the start of the season: all the players who were good the season before have massively increased in value and you have no idea what the new signings are going to be like. This time last year I was convinced that Bellamy and McCarthy was the dream ticket to striking success. This year I wanted Berbatov, but Spurs have got so many strikers you just don't know who's going to play. Foolishly I've got no Liverpool or Chelsea players and I've built my team around a Reading backbone.

Berbatov will definitely start the majority of games. I've got a feeling about Tuncay at Middlesborough this year as well.

OK. I'm in. I can't possibly do worse than last year.

it's a tricky one, especially as he tends to chop and change quite so much. 15 players that never leave the pitch unless their legs are hanging off may be better than someone who scores every time he plays, but only plays once every three weeks...

Last year it was 4 points for a defender with a clean sheet, so usually 6 points for a defender playing a full game. A midfielder got a single bonus point for the clean sheet.

can you be less oblique? are you saying the keeper was dropped because he didn't play well despite being in goal for all of City's league clean sheets this season? he is the second best scoring keeper, only one point behind Reina. obviously good defences are a factor (might explain why Robinson still England #1) but Schmeicel has looked good enough for a young keeper from what i have seen (very good in the Manc derby esp.). too young to play every game because still growing or whatever makes sense tho.

yeah pretty much! there was a couple of matches when i remember thinking bloody hell how does he keep this clean sheet here cos someone would take a shot and half the time the ball spills all over the six yard box and luckily they would end up with a defender or gets gathered the second time. it wasn't confidence inspiring stuff.

it was especially good when these shaky saves would then analysed by the BBC panel and they'll be like "woah what a great save hey remind you of somebody wink wink?"

i haven't seen the other keeper in action though. he might be crap too. i was just smug cos i swapped james back in the week schmeichel got dropped.

i can no longer afford elano because i opted for the ronaldo-fabregas-gerrard combination (i was 0.2 short for elano :\) he's been looking good since the start of the season and looking like he is getting better still.

i can also no longer afford arteta (although if i sell gerrard+n'zogbia i can get the two back..)

I'm pretty sure they were laughing at Scheichel-Junior's performance on MOTD about a month ago saying he was out of his depth. There's a difference between fantasy football scores and how useful a footballer is in real life. (Where real life = a game of football, not actual real life)
