Is this an open invitation or a description of Armageddon?
Or both?
― Sara R-C, Saturday, 14 July 2007 03:25 (eighteen years ago)
Yes. Plus, you might die.
― Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Saturday, 14 July 2007 03:27 (eighteen years ago)
Well, if it helps me procrastinate, dying could be a welcome option.

Deep fried Oreos and fat hogs. Thirty species of chicken, buckets of chocolate-chip cookies, and ice-cold whole milk. Butter sculptures of dairy princesses, puke-stained carnival rides, and sweat-stained, wide-assed slow-moving motherfuckers in puffy-paint American flag t-shirts. Goddamned walleye on a stick with cheese curds and horse shit everywhere. The aroma, it is rich. The crowd, it is ripe. I will bring 1 (one) flask and many sanitary wipes. You people bring the noise.
― Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Saturday, 14 July 2007 05:49 (eighteen years ago)

― Sara R-C, Saturday, 14 July 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)
I'd never seen the Butter Princess heads until 1998! (This is what happens when you spend the entirety of your time at the Fair on the midway.)
― HI DERE, Saturday, 14 July 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)
Ha ha, M4rk K13ff3r's ex-sister in law had one of those Butter Princess heads. Apparently they kept it in the freezer and brought it out for the wedding!
― Sara R-C, Saturday, 14 July 2007 15:58 (eighteen years ago)
That is so wrong.
― HI DERE, Saturday, 14 July 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

Seed art, grilled corn, and 4H livestock. Budwiser Clydesdales, political candidates in flannels with their sleeves rolled up, and rodeo. Rickety gondola lift to nowhere, elephant ears, and Randy Shaver in pleated khaki shorts. Real bear. Not 3.2 beer. For the first time in many years, real beer.
― Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Saturday, 14 July 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)

Revive! Apparently I have to shoot polaroids or straight-ups of fairgoers while I am there, for a magazine. Mwahahahaha 4H fashion show, show me Vogue realness!
My dad simply did not want to take responsibility for the projectile vomit of his hellspawn hence the FOOD/RIDES divide. This is my dad vis a vis responsibility in a nutshell. The rest of the state fair for us was all about going to look at Saddlebred and Tennesee Walking Horse events ("Suze! Look at that PIECE OF HORSEFLESH over there, damn fine horseflesh there...yada yada, ad infinitum...")

No, Alex. THERE REALLY IS A 4H FASHION SHOW. They have to make their own dresses or document their 'journey' toward the dress they choose, which is scored on an 'appropriateness' scale. Imagine the kind of church lady who tells you that things must be Appropriate in such a setting. Now imagine her saying this word with an Outstate Minnesota accent.
We were thinking more along the lines of 'meth addicts pretend to eat deep fried food on a stick' for the mag shoot, which is apparently the new vibe this year ;-).

guys the art on the rides is the most amazing stuff ever
― gff, Tuesday, 28 August 2007 16:12 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah Magnum is top of the line but there's lotsa good stuff.
Did anyone else who grew up in MN ever due the teenage "summer job" thing of working for the carnies in the Midway concession booths?
My carny was a white-fro'ed, v hairy, teeth missing Texan guy named Stacie. He got a crush on my best friend's older sister (she was also working for the carnies in another booth) and bought her a sterling silver unicorn pendant but was too shy to give it to her.

Apparently the State Fair has attractions I could never have imagined!
xpost to Jon L. - I don't know whether to be disturbed by that story or touched. I never even went to the State Fair until after I was married. My father is a State Fair-hater, so it wasn't ever something we got to do. Working there never crossed my mind.

Most unthinkable ride for me (as of last fair visit 2 yrs ago) is that fucking thing that takes only 2 people at a time and basically just flings them hundreds of feet straight up in the air on a cord. WTF men died face down in the mud so we could do this to ourselves for FUN?!?!

as for that sock monkey dress, it's made by a local designer who sells stuff at local awesome store Crafty Planet (http://www.flickr.com/photos/craftyplanet/) where that dress is normally on display. Their flickr site shows another dress she made...

― John Justen, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)
I was telling some dude at the bar about free bacon night and he seemed baffled by why this would be a draw for patronage.
I will never speak to this person again.
― John Justen, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 19:20 (eighteen years ago)
will it be crispy bacon, y/n

it will be greasy yet crispy bacon.
― John Justen, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)
I did not know about this Detroit Cobras thing, I assume that will not stand in the way of free bacon on the bar side.
― John Justen, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

― John Justen, Thursday, 30 August 2007 05:40 (eighteen years ago)
Ha, well, I HAVE KIDS. That's my excuse.
I did pass on the word about bacon night to random likely-looking college students (and administrators, ha) that I ran into this afternoon when visiting Carleton. I'm not sure, but I suspect they thought I was a crackpot.

tonight, in honor of free bacon, I had for dinner the Childe Harolde GUARDS BURGER.
The GUARDS BURGER is a gratuitous concoction consisting of a half pound beef burger wrapped around some bacon and some cheddar cheese. You can chomp all the free bacon you want; it remains unaccompannied by cattle junk, pig tummies, and ripe cow tit products. I win. See you in 2008, bitches.
― El Tomboto, Thursday, 30 August 2007 06:14 (eighteen years ago)

Also, the King Prime Rib will kill you. With happiness. and meat.

OH NOES PEOPLE!!!
FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn.—A thief distracted employees at State Fair turkey sandwich stand and made off with $20,000, police and employees said. While employees at Turkey To Go got a good look at the suspect when he came by around 6 p.m. Thursday, there were no still no arrests as of Monday.
"One guy came up and bought a sandwich and what happened was he requested skin. We don't get that very often," owner Greg Keil said.
Within minutes, Keil noticed the safe was both open and empty, and two bank bags containing their entire day's take were missing. The safe apparently wasn't locked and anyone could see it from the counter.
"Alongside the safe was this sandwich that this guy requested," Keil said.
Keil presumes the thief made a quick getaway.
"We're only a block and a half away from the gate so I'm sure once he was done here he skeedaddled," Keil said.
Police said State Fair vendors are hit by thieves about five or six times a year, but usually the amount stolen isn't as large.
"This is unusual. Most people and most vendors take that money off two or three times a day and don't leave that kind of money on site," State Fair Police Chief Art Blakey said.
Turkey To Go is run in conjunction with the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association. Employees deep fry 10 turkeys at a time, nonstop, from sunup to sundown during the 12-day run of the fair.
Most of the stand's 22 employees are families and friends from Perham, where Keil said people rarely even lock their homes. "We were very down in the dumps Thursday night when this happened, and Friday morning, but the customers' positiveness helps bring that back around," Keil said.
After the theft, Turkey To Go moved the safe out of sight and employees began making bank runs bank three times a day with escorts.
Reflecting on the theft Monday, Keil said: "I'm sure we'll never see it again. He's got to live with it. I can sleep at night, I don't know if he can."
"...what happened was he requested skin. We don't get that very often."

He just wants to be able to buy booze without being carded.
Unlike FB. FB has a baby face, though.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 6 September 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)
(Don't tell FB I said that.)
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that people <10 years younger than me are well-established adults but I srsly don't think I've seen Jon since he was... 19? Maybe 21?
I would not be surprised if he looked younger in person as opposed to in a picture where he is making the wise old anime man face, I was just surprised (and feeling old) (ps THANKS A LOT RIVER WOLF FOR HELPING ME FEEL OLD).
― HI DERE, Thursday, 6 September 2007 20:34 (eighteen years ago)

That kid should be starting college this year.
Also, L34h H3b34rt and C4rly D0ugh3rty both have children who should be seniors in high school this year.

― Sara R-C, Thursday, 6 September 2007 20:46 (eighteen years ago)
Also, I did not know that about Kr1st1n. It's weird how you can go to school with someone for years, be in the same classes, be in the same dance program, work on multiple plays together... and yet somehow not be friends.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 6 September 2007 20:48 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, totally weird... until you remember we are talking about Kr1st1n.
(I got along with her pretty well, mostly because our dads both worked for 3M and we lived near each other and we were both friends with Kyl3, but I completely understand how others would not.)
― HI DERE, Thursday, 6 September 2007 20:50 (eighteen years ago)
I don't think we didn't get along; I just don't remember ever having a conversation with her about anything at all. Someone told me a semi-obscene joke about her once, but I have no idea if there was anything behind the joke because I did not know her well enough to have a clue!
Her Dad worked for 3M? Huh.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 6 September 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)
I think she got frisky with one boyfriend once and then received a reputation as a massive blowjob fiend; as far as I know, the rumor way outstripped the reality.

Also, skiing is surprisingly fun. I haven't done it in 20 years, but I haven't totally forgotten...

This is beautifully said, and not just for the obvious reference, but for this one as well:

I did say "fey" Sara.
Sara, remember when you and John showed up at school wearing the same blue silk top?

Jeff was the one who dated the girl who called him "Sparky", if memory serves.

The poetry, I mean, not Ned's hair.
― Sara R-C, Monday, 17 September 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)
I once wrote this insane nasty poem ("poem") and let Dan read it and he told me he wanted to put it on a t-shirt and tell random people that he met that it was about THEM.
So yeah, maybe we all had our bloodthirsty moments.

ANOTHER LOCAL MUSIC GEEK QUESTION FOR M@TT -
What was the name of the mastering engineer we were talking about at the God Damn Doowop Band show? (the vinyl guy)? Also, was he the one who mastered yer record?
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)
john i'm getting the info from the guy i know...i just sent him an email...
this place wasn't where we mastered, we did it with d@ve gardner at magn3to mastering, who i would also speak highly of...dave is great -- he's done tons of stuff you probably heard like D4, LFTR PLLR, hold steady, selby tigers (he was in selby tigers), etc....
dave is great, but he is def. more of a rock guy, but i'm sure that doesn't mean he couldn't do acoustic stuff.
this other place specializes more in jazz, acoustic, stuff like that, so they aren't as known in indie rock circles but are apparently really pro and everything, my friend g3rard is a great guy, he works there as an engineer, used to do shellac and big black live sound for years.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Thursday, 20 September 2007 16:27 (eighteen years ago)
thx m@tt. I'm getting a lot of people pointing me at rare form mastering (guy named Gr3g R313rs0n?), so it'd be interesting to see if it's the same place.
Also, I believe I know g3rard sort of through Jean from C0ntr0l P4n3l?

Duck Duck Gray Duck is played in the north central part of the United States, specifically Central and Southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. Two versions of the regional rules exist. The first is played exactly as the original, with the picker saying 'gray duck' instead of 'goose'. In the second version, the 'picker' describes the 'ducks' as being different colors, or with other adjectives — for example, 'blue duck', 'white duck', 'lazy duck'. This adds educational and psychological elements to the game. In addition to teaching vocabulary, this variation gives players the opportunity to confuse their opponents, thus gaining a head start, with phrases that sound similar to "gray duck" (e.g. "May duck," "gr...een duck"). With the full range of adjectives available to them, players might also easily insult one another.

dan i already know that dodgeball is awesome!!
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:23 (eighteen years ago)
this thrd move fast
ok wtf is scramble. why do you ppl have different words for everything.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:24 (eighteen years ago)
waht r scramble? xpost haha
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:24 (eighteen years ago)
They don't mention on Wikipedia that if a ball makes it to the trench, players there can throw someone out from behind!
I'm hoping scramble is like dodgeball with a parachute.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:24 (eighteen years ago)
wait your gym was too small for trench? Did you go to school in a thimble?
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:25 (eighteen years ago)
I don't remember scramble.
― Jon Lewis, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:25 (eighteen years ago)
I'm totally giving you guys the benefit of the doubt since you were in classes and schools other than mine, but I still wouldn't play trench with a single one of you.
xpost to Dan - yes, you can get out of the trench from behind. IT'S ALL SO CLEAR
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:25 (eighteen years ago)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dodgeball_variations#Scramble (AKA ANOTHER SECTION OF THE SAME PAGE I LINKED BEFORE, LAZY PPL)
I don't remember what we called this game but we played it a lot...?
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:26 (eighteen years ago)
OK I played this as "Scatter".
Also OMG SWING DODGEBALL finnish genius!!!
― Jon Lewis, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:28 (eighteen years ago)
That is totally unfamiliar to me. Mr. T4ff3 was all about trench.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:28 (eighteen years ago)
"swing dodgeball" is yet another reason for Finland to be considered questionable.
hah xpost
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)
How to make dodgeball into some twee bullshit:
1) Add swings. 2) OOH LAWKS, I AM KICKING THE BALL! WIBBLE WIBBLE WIBBLE!
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:34 (eighteen years ago)
Sara, Mr. Taffy sounds more like someone that would hang out in the parking lot of an elementary school.
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:36 (eighteen years ago)
How do you think he got the job?
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:37 (eighteen years ago)
Also laughing because his name doesn't have a "y" in it, but now I'm going to call him that forever because it is funny and maybe he won't be a nightmare figure from my past anymore. John, you should become a psychologist.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:38 (eighteen years ago)
Also, to be fair, there was a high number of dickish boys in my class. (J4s0n McMurr4y, prime example. It was no shock to me when he died in a police car chase.)
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:39 (eighteen years ago)
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:40 (eighteen years ago)
SRSLY??????
It would be inappropriate and Shakeyesque for me to be happy about this, wouldn't it.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)
omg, did you not know that?
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)
Okay, true confessions time. This happened right around the time of my 10 year class reunion. Mike D0nnd3ling3r didn't come to the reunion, BUT he called me right afterward and we laughed about Jas0n's death until tears were running down my face.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)
How's THAT for inappropriate!?
(Also, I'm sure part of the reason Mike became a psychiatrist had to do with our elementary school experience/class.)
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)
The HSTNGS deathtoll tradition continues.
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, well, how'd you guys miss THAT ONE?
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:44 (eighteen years ago)
It's really sad that you could see it coming from, like, first grade. At the same time, it's REALLY hard to be sad about the death of someone who basically tortured you for years.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)
You people need to admit that YOU'RE doing all the killing. It's like Arsenic and Old Lace without the mercy.
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)
If I knew that, I had forgotten.
One of my finest moments in junior high was using the public phone to attempt to arrange for my mom to pick me up; Jason was in the background yelling at me to get off the phone and I said to my mom, "I'm sorry Mom, there's this fat idiot here with no manners yelling in my ear so I can't hear you."
He did subsequently pick me up by my shirt and slam me against a wall with "Do you still think I'm fat???" threats. I think I said, "Put me down," rather than what my memory is telling me I said, which was, "Yes!" because he never actually hit me.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)
I was certainly thinking, "I don't care how strong you are, you are one fat fuck," but I'm about 100% positive I didn't say that.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:46 (eighteen years ago)
WAU Dan. (Also, yeah, he was not in very good shape.)
xpost to Ned - why would we want the mercy again?
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)
OH DUDE SHIT THATS WHO J4S0N M4CMURR4Y WAS?
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)
WELCOME TO MY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EXISTENCE, JOHN
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:48 (eighteen years ago)
NOW do you want to come back in time with me and play trench?
I don't know why i'm googleproofing his name, its not like hes crawling teh web from beyond the grave.
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:48 (eighteen years ago)
Don't get overconfident, John. If anyone would be...
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)
SARA YES BCUZ TRENCH IS AWESOME xpost
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)
Wasn't he in the crew that you accidentally started hanging out with in the two week interim between you moving to HSTNGS and us starting to hang out?
Also, it's not like he would know what to do with a computer if he were still alive beyond salting the keyboard and putting it on a hoagie roll.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)
Wow, he would make a truly vile and terrifying zombie.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)
Okay WAU that was mean of me.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)
Dan, you are teh funniest.
John, seriously, I feel like I need to protect you from my elementary school. Don't even think about thinking it would be fun.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)
you guys know a lot of criminals
― M@tt He1ges0n, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)
I could kick all those kids asses, plus if not I could just drive away.
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, m@tt, thats kind of true.
lololol remember the kids who tried to run over the football team in a van
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)
And then drove back to the scene of the crime to try again, right into the arms of the police? lolololol
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:53 (eighteen years ago)
?????!!!!
M@tt, HSTNGS is a Special Place.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)
I told you all about the summer that I was driving the delinquent van and one of the passengers was a 12-year-old who was dressed like a porcelain doll by her mother who was in juvie school because she tried to burn down the middle school?
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:55 (eighteen years ago)
Dan... WAHT?
So many levels of WRONG
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)
This girl was seriously the living incarnation of The Bad Seed. The pregnant girl, the drunk girl and the theiving guy all had their shit supremely together compared to her.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)
re van football thing: Yes, that was my good friend D4v1d N0gl3, who you may recall from such hits as the fight in the ponding basin.

THAT WAS HIS NAME
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

Which thread was it where we looked up all our old classmates on mncriminals.com?
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:00 (eighteen years ago)
Dan... JEEZ. Sounds like the perfect job in a town like HSTNGS.
John - did D4v1d have a sister named "J4ck13?" I was friends with her in 7th grade for a while. She was clearly headed for trouble. I have no idea what happened to her because suddenly they tracked me into the honors program and I swear I never saw 80% of the school again.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:00 (eighteen years ago)
Dan - I think that was one of the first two or three threads.
still, his alternating copenhagen/ozzy hats were kind of boss.
xpost: didn't really get to know his family. they were from the wrong side of the wrong side of the tracks.

Wait - John what ponding basin were you fighting at? (I only ask because, you know - ponding basin across from my house. I don't remember anyone ever fighting there, however.)

xpost to SRC: the one north of the high school. this is the time that perry beat up c4r1 L1t5hk3 so badly that his eyes weren't tracking together. like pointing in different directions style.
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:05 (eighteen years ago)
I think I'm going to be spending the lion's share of my evening on mncriminals.org...
Also what was the "delinquent van"?
― Jon Lewis, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:06 (eighteen years ago)
Chopper: I hate that I should know this, but I don't.
John, I doubt we scared them away permanently; lure them back with gray ducks. And thx for the fight details. I don't remember that at ALL... and I'm just going to feel grateful for that.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:07 (eighteen years ago)
J3ss3 Blumk3?
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:09 (eighteen years ago)
I think that's right. FUN TRIVIA: Later on, in a bar fight, he bit off 3r1c di5ch's ear.
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)
The "delinquent van" was what I called the minivan they gave me for the three week gig I had driving problem children to juvvie summer school. I had four passengers:
15-year-old guy who liked stealing things: I think he was slightly afraid of me.
15-year-old girl who cut a lot of classes and smoked: She was actually very cool and smarter than everyone else; I think she was in trouble because school bored her.
14-year-old girl who was pregnant and smoked: Not the brightest bulb on the tree.
12-year-old girl who liked trying to burn things: She was dressed like a doll, cursed like a sailor, and would tend to bodily fling herself at the other passengers in futile attempts to claw their eyes out. I think she was J0hn H4v1l4nd's step-sister or something similar, which, you know, poor J0hn.

Folks, please, make the cash-in miniseries already or something.
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:14 (eighteen years ago)
Dan, I do not memember login plz to emale.
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)
Ned, I'd say that was a brilliant idea, but no one would believe the storyline.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)
Dan how old were you when you did that? That's fucking incredible.
Was the vehicle color-coded a la the Yellow Bus? Like the Purple Astro?
― Jon Lewis, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:16 (eighteen years ago)
It was a Plymouth Grand Voyager! This was the summer of 1992, so I was 19.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)
Also, in case anyone has forgotten, the whole mncriminal thing started after my tackle and citizens arrest of the drunk dude. perhaps johnawfulmulletdrunkdrivingquote.jpg should be renamed itoldyousowhoslaughingnow.jpg.
xpost this is the same job that m1k3 S had, right?
― John Justen, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)
I think so. I think we both ended up with it the same way (ie, THANKS MOM-ON-SCHOOL-BOARD, I REALLY WANTED TO SPEND MY SUMMER FERRYING AROUND NASCENT CRIMINALS oh hey free car/free gas!).
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)
Also I got all the kids in my van to bond over House of Pain and 808 State! ^_^
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:20 (eighteen years ago)
I went to Como Park Sr. High in St Paul, so keep in mind that I went to school with some serious trash. But about 10 years after graduation, it appeared in the Pioneer Press that two of the biggest, douchiest, stupidest assholes in my class had just been arrested for beating up two African-American women in a supermarket parking lot on Martin Luther King Day.
― Jon Lewis, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:21 (eighteen years ago)
^^^ class!
Within 6 months of our high school graduation, four of our classmates were undergoing criminal proceedings for accidentally killing their friends at two separate parties.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:23 (eighteen years ago)
BOOYAH
OK, so maybe there's trash parity between Como and hstngs...
― Jon Lewis, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:24 (eighteen years ago)
John, your citizen's arrest was almost certainly toward the end of the first Hastings thread. I think it spills over a bit onto the second thread. </geeky memory for detail>
Jon L - wow! You would likely have survived Hastings. :)
Dan - I really don't remember your having that job AT ALL.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:24 (eighteen years ago)
First thread:
AX + B(AX) / Colbert = HASTINGS, MN CAFE
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:29 (eighteen years ago)
When I go home, I still hang with a bunch of people I've known since 2nd and 3rd grade, who themselves all hang out together like multiple times every week. You guys' thread makes me happy, cuz y'all are a bit like that.
― Jon Lewis, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:34 (eighteen years ago)
I'm the opposite. I'm not in contact with anyone from high school outside of an occasional reunion mail and just a couple of people from undergrad years. Can't say I miss anyone, honestly.
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:43 (eighteen years ago)
Wait, what happened to J4s0n McMurr4y?
― Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Thursday, 20 September 2007 23:23 (eighteen years ago)
Hey, there's a funnel cloud in Inver Grove and my basement is flooding.
― Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Thursday, 20 September 2007 23:32 (eighteen years ago)
Hey, I left my window open and my bed is wet.
― Caledonia, Friday, 21 September 2007 00:11 (eighteen years ago)

― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 00:14 (eighteen years ago)
xpost to FB - I think it was summer 2000; J4s0n was killed in a car accident. He was being chased by police. That's all the detail I remember, but surely we could find out more if we really wanted to...
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 00:15 (eighteen years ago)
(Also, hi Caledonia. Are your done moving your library yet?)

I really am going to hell, aren't I.
Hell, I mean.
(sheesh)
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 00:53 (eighteen years ago)
So, my wife has decided she needs to exercise, and in order to do that she needs to find a way to make it fun (ie, completely unlike going to the gym).
In pursuit of this, she is with our downstairs neighbor RIGHT NOW taking belly dancing lessons! :-D
I don't get to watch, though. ;_;
― HI DERE, Friday, 21 September 2007 00:54 (eighteen years ago)
Belly dancing is TOTALLY fun. Going to the gym is not. I say, GO J031.
Also, she might be willing to show you a few steps later. I'm just guessing here.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:02 (eighteen years ago)
Also envying J031 going to a dance class to get into shape, while I have a fun 5 and a half miles on the treadmill waiting for me downstairs.
Upside: finishing watching HOT FUZZ, which is pretty damn funny.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:04 (eighteen years ago)
PS you have to ask J031 after a few classes if they are teaching with zyls. (I may have hopelessly mis-spelled that - but the little finger cymbals. Very tricky to coordinate when your feet and hands are doing different rhythms.)
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:05 (eighteen years ago)
finishing watching HOT FUZZ, which is pretty damn funny.
Need to get that DVD. Wished I could have caught it in the London run but there wasn't time!
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)
It is really v. funny - I love some of the humor that is just gory. Sadly, we're almost at the end, so it's not going to carry me the whole 80 minutes.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:10 (eighteen years ago)
"Hot Fuzz" is GREAT.
― HI DERE, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:16 (eighteen years ago)
You should come over and watch it with us. I'll just lie down on the floor and take a little nap while we wait for you to show up...
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:25 (eighteen years ago)
(I'm really dedicating myself to procrastination here.)
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:26 (eighteen years ago)
You guys, last half hour of HOT FUZZ = perfect for the treadmill. AWESOME
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 04:12 (eighteen years ago)
Yes.
― John Justen, Friday, 21 September 2007 04:52 (eighteen years ago)
STAY OFF MY TREADMILL JOHN
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 05:23 (eighteen years ago)
No.
― John Justen, Friday, 21 September 2007 05:24 (eighteen years ago)
Perverts, both of you.
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 21 September 2007 05:26 (eighteen years ago)
Seriously, Ned, I'm just trying to keep John from injuring himself.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 05:28 (eighteen years ago)
Or my treadmill.
Or me.
Precisely.
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 21 September 2007 05:36 (eighteen years ago)
Dear, dear Ned. You are a mystery and also your definitions are a bit wonky.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 05:44 (eighteen years ago)
hey this is waaay off topic and not really MN related in anyway but i was thinking maybe someone would give me a straight answer here...anyway what was the deal with Aja & BurmaKitty...were they fake or something? People always make references to it and it confuses me, i figured dan or ned would know...
yours in faith, m@tt
― M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 21 September 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)
um i think BurmaKitty was a vaguely irritating "cool mom" type who was into postpunk and
posted, a lot like this --
squirrel police style.
Aja was her kid, 12 or 13 years old. clueless and also irritating, posted "What?" about a billion times in thread after thread. maybe you could chalk it up to being a kid, but there was some semi-serious discussion about putting an age policy on ilx in response.
this is my biased and personal answer.
― gff, Friday, 21 September 2007 17:45 (eighteen years ago)
burmakitty was also a police lady, I think she was at least bi if not flat out gay and she posed naked on a couch or something once and offended everyone with the picture
aja's dad used to post too, it was clear from the get go that the two of them having a kid was ill-advised but he seemed like the more reasonable parent to be honest. they were divorced.
people used to think aja had to be fake and accused alex in nyc of being the puppet master, it was difficult at times to believe her posting style was the result of an independent human mind and not a robot or some other sort of disturbing joke
― El Tomboto, Friday, 21 September 2007 17:55 (eighteen years ago)
thx dudes! mystery solved. i thought she was real but you never know.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 21 September 2007 18:12 (eighteen years ago)
Aja is back and asking people about where they went to college because she's applying this year.
Yeah, ponder that one.
― HI DERE, Friday, 21 September 2007 18:23 (eighteen years ago)
fake?
― Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 21 September 2007 18:27 (eighteen years ago)
and she posed naked on a couch or something once and offended everyone with the picture
for the record, she didn't offend people with the picture, it was the fact that she was batshit nuts (sorry aja, if you read this, but it's true and please move out of that house as soon as you possibly can because you seem like a nice girl and my god i don't even know how i'd respond if my mom went and posted a titty picture of herself on an internets msg board that i read). i mean she started a thread asking ppl to rate her hot or not with this ridiculous photo of herself sprawled on a couch and got really aggro and nuts on everyone for not doing this and then made a big fuss about how she was performing a social experiment on ilx and blah blah blah look at me i'm nuttier than orbit!
then someone did a photoshop that put someone's (tom's?) face on her ass and it was hilarious and really disturbing.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 21 September 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)
it offended people BECAUSE her daughter posted on the board
― Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 21 September 2007 18:32 (eighteen years ago)
sorry, I shouldn't be on this thread, I just clicked on it randomly
Wait, is that the same person who started the college thread where Dan and John are both all, "I wanted to go to this bizarro all male college where they require manual labor?" Because that was the craziest thing I've ever heard either of you say.
gff, Tombot, Dan - Thanks for the ILX background info.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 18:32 (eighteen years ago)
(Also thx Ally and Curt1s!)
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 18:34 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, that is the gist of it, people were always like "ffs your daughter posts on this board, is it really appropriate for you to be posting up wannabe milf pix and detailing yr sex life at everyone?" and she'd like get all http://www.pictures.vaty.net/uploaded_images/crazy_blondes-794828.jpg at anyone who questioned her and then would insist this was a large psychological experiment and i was like "yeah on your own daughter, i guess"
poor aja
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 21 September 2007 18:35 (eighteen years ago)
the other thing that was the problem was that she was not at all hot and kind of looked a bit heroin-y so the picture was offensive in other ways too u_u
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 21 September 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)
god what a mean thing i just said
It was very true, tho.

― gff, Friday, 21 September 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)
dads are always saying stuff like that
man, it's weird how you can waste all yr time on this site and still miss really weird big blowups.
but i guess i mostly go to ILM so i miss out on stuff.
sounds kinda creepy.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:07 (eighteen years ago)
This is a perfect example of why you should spend more time on ILE.
― Jon Lewis, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)
I don't remember what she looked like at all! THE ALCOHOL WORKED
Also, I always try to keep the teats of the Internet. YAY TEATS
― HI DERE, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:14 (eighteen years ago)
no shit. but i can't miss the six-month pazz & jop vs. jackin' pop prognosticating season!
― M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:15 (eighteen years ago)
That is a perfect example of why you should never go on ILM.
― John Justen, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:17 (eighteen years ago)
Also, I always try to keep the teats of the Internet.
This, from the inventor of the "where the titties at" theory.
― John Justen, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:18 (eighteen years ago)
Curt1s, it's OK, all are welcome here. Well, that's not true, but you don't suck.
― John Justen, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)
Can we all remember that "of" and "off" are not the same?
― HI DERE, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:20 (eighteen years ago)
ha i didn't even notice my typo there!
― gff, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)
If you keep all the teats, then the theory will have to be expanded to "Where the titties at? oh wait yes dan has them he has all of the teats."
which isn't as fun, and is harder to type.
― John Justen, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:22 (eighteen years ago)
"I do solemnly swear to vigilantly keep the teats of this fair city..."
― Jon Lewis, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)
Why do these conversations always end up with boob talk?
It must be Friday.
― Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:30 (eighteen years ago)
with enough experimentation, the "where the titties at" theory could become a scientific law.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)
A: men like boobs, lol

― John Justen, Saturday, 22 September 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)
Well, it probably would have cheered me up to go out, but I was in a terrible mood and could not get myself to do teh driving to a strange place. The worst part is that I'm pretty sure that Grumpy's is right by the Red Cross site where I'm going to be spending most of my October evenings - so it's not like I'm not going to HAVE to figure that all out soon.
Still... I did not want to infect anyone with my crankiness. So there's my excuse!
I promise to be less lame in the future.
― Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 September 2007 17:38 (eighteen years ago)
Also, I'd like to know when you perfected that variation on the Catholic Guilt Trip.
Smack yourself in the head for me, plz.

― suzy, Saturday, 22 September 2007 17:40 (eighteen years ago)
suzy, please come home from the UK and take this CNA class with me. That would improve my outlook, I think.
― Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 September 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)
Hey, I could take it. Do I have to be sober?
― John Justen, Saturday, 22 September 2007 17:49 (eighteen years ago)
(waht are CNA)
CNA = Certified Nursing Assistant. I need to do it before nursing classes start at the end of January. You'd want to be sober for the three nights of clinicals.
And, sure, take the class with me, but don't be offended when I pair up with someone else for the licensing exam. I don't think either one of us wants to end up being tested on giving each other a sponge bath. That would only end in tears.
As in failing the test for getting into a water fight. Or, you know, a fist fight.
― Sara R-C, Saturday, 22 September 2007 17:54 (eighteen years ago)
I just took a moment to picture John in the required white scrubs and shoes for clinicals.

― M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 24 September 2007 16:49 (eighteen years ago)
Yep, sorry I didn't respond, but I haven't done anything with it yet. Strange and aggravating further shifts towards the ultimate walmartization of the guitar business have been stressing/distracting me ;_;
― John Justen, Monday, 24 September 2007 20:18 (eighteen years ago)
fuck a guitar center...
fav memory:
Me: "so, this head is 4ohms and this cab is 8ohms, how does that work, do they need to be the same?"
guitar center dude: "um...yeah...well..basically, i mean, ohms don't matter."
Me: "um...yeah okay i think i'm going somewhere else."
― M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 24 September 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)
I kind of like how the guys at Guitar Center get incensed if you go in there looking for Reason.
― HI DERE, Monday, 24 September 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)
Sadly, guitar center is soom to be the least of my problems. Full line music stores (like, not cheap crap but major american lines) will start opening in B35t Buy stores before the end of the year.
So, basically, indie music stores are pretty much fucked, at least here in MPLS/STPL mope mope mope.
― John Justen, Monday, 24 September 2007 20:36 (eighteen years ago)
that sucks! i assume the bright "future" is new gear thru big box stores and used stuff going entirely thru craigslist and ebay? what a shame. i'm usually not a sentimental luddite but dicking about with wierd old gear in music stores is one of life's joys (if not for people who have to listen to it all day, ha)
― gff, Monday, 24 September 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)
it's not being sentimental or a luddite at all...indie store dudes -- in general, not 100 percent -- tend to actually know gear...also can repair it...best buy and guitar center have ZERO interest in the repair side at all, they just want to move all the generic, normal big brand shit as much as possible....as a dude in a band, i'd hate to see the day when all the small stores are gone.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 24 September 2007 20:55 (eighteen years ago)
Small businesses = the people running them actually know something about what they are selling.
I've recently seen guitars for sale at Target. I know nothing about guitars, but I know not to buy one at Target for god's sake.
― Sara R-C, Monday, 24 September 2007 21:06 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, it's weird, but I'm starting to just sort of accept the liklihood that the whole industry as we know it is spiraling down the drain (not to say that it doesn't irritate me.) I think it might be fair to say that my/our concept of what is valuable in a music store is somewhat outmoded in the modern day. Like it or not, indie stores still survive mostly off of non/amateur musicians, and when that dries up, times get tough. Everyone I know that owns a store really sort of wishes they didn't right now (I'm more of an optimist/willing pauper than most of them, so I suppose that's part of it.) I figure that I make about $12-14 an hour most of the time, which means that I'd better really love doing what I do (which I do, for the most part.) If that drops to $8 (which is true of at least 3 store owners I've talked to that are having a harder time than I am), well, fuck that noise, right?
We'll see. I think there's a chance that the people who dig their heels in and find a niche might survive until the point where someone @ the big box corporate office decides that expanding the appliance department is a more lucrative use of floor space. If not, it's going to be a ghost town out there when they drop MI.
xpost the thing about the target/BB/walmart guitar sections is that they were universally crap. Someone like BB coming in with full line G1b50n, F3nd3r, DW drums, etc. is a much more difficult hill to climb (all of those are confirmed lines, not imaginary, BTW.) Then when you figure in the appeal of "12 months same as cash" promotions, which we can't possibly do, and the fact that anyone who wants a BB card already has one, the whole thing gets a bit more unpleasant.
― John Justen, Monday, 24 September 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)
I R NABISCO!
On a more pleasant note, Gu1tar C3nt3r is going to get the living shit kicked out of them when this deal goes down.
― John Justen, Monday, 24 September 2007 21:16 (eighteen years ago)
Work in something about banging Michigan girls who look like Meg White and you really will be Nabisco!
― HI DERE, Monday, 24 September 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)
I've never forgotten my Dad selling the hardware store when he knew that Wal-Mart was finally coming to town because he knew that there was no way to compete with their largeness and their tactics. It worked out well for him, switching to the liquor stores, but I still hate Wal-Mart to this day.
(I'd also add that owning a restaurant is never a route you want to go.)
― Sara R-C, Monday, 24 September 2007 21:26 (eighteen years ago)
I have a friend who liquidated stock options during the dot-com boom and was an actual millionaire until he opened up a Bay Area restaurant with a friend. He is now a grad student with enough money to pay for the gas of his ostentatious BMW (and that's about it).
― HI DERE, Monday, 24 September 2007 21:31 (eighteen years ago)
Wow.
The upside was that we finally had access to some food, since my mother never liked to keep much in the house.
― Sara R-C, Monday, 24 September 2007 21:34 (eighteen years ago)
Bottom line: owning a restaurant will not only break you financially, but you will be miserable while you do it.
Upside: not starving.
― Sara R-C, Monday, 24 September 2007 21:35 (eighteen years ago)
xpost This makes me sad. ;_;
― Caledonia, Monday, 24 September 2007 22:47 (eighteen years ago)
It is really depressing; people love to buy cheap stuff and don't care about the quality of what they are buying or the long-term consequences (i.e. big box retail will be all we have left eventually - no quality, no knowledge of product, just tons of crap, cheap).
― Sara R-C, Monday, 24 September 2007 23:07 (eighteen years ago)
It makes me sad, but it also kind of pisses me off, actually.
― Sara R-C, Monday, 24 September 2007 23:08 (eighteen years ago)
man thats awful
i feel dirty
― the sir weeze, Monday, 24 September 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)
It's OK guys, I'm working on alternatives (guitar storewise), and I'm lucky enough to know about this way ahead of time. Although the concern is appreciated, I just needed to vent a bit. I'm way too stubborn not to keep on being a pain in the ass for GC, BB, etc. w/bloody, ill-advised determination :)
― John Justen, Monday, 24 September 2007 23:20 (eighteen years ago)
Plus I R TOO STOOPID to have a real job.
― John Justen, Monday, 24 September 2007 23:21 (eighteen years ago)
A. We all know that that last b.s. is entirely untrue, but B. Give 'em hell (because someone has to, and you're probably a very good candidate for that task)
― Sara R-C, Monday, 24 September 2007 23:39 (eighteen years ago)
On a totally different subject, I actually had to say this, today:
"ALEX, PLEASE SHARE YOUR IMAGINARY EGGS WITH YOUR SISTER."
It is really hard to be stern when the things that you are saying make no sense.
― Sara R-C, Monday, 24 September 2007 23:41 (eighteen years ago)

perhaps i can get them to do RW's chant.
― John Justen, Monday, 24 September 2007 23:50 (eighteen years ago)
I am thinking of adopting RW's tactics. Although realistically, it may already be too late. I caught J. looking at picture books in bed last night at 10 pm when she was supposed to be asleep two hours before.
Face it, I am teh doomed.
― Sara R-C, Monday, 24 September 2007 23:53 (eighteen years ago)
But it's a good kinda doomed.
― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 00:00 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah... I appreciate that she loves books. The worst part is that I did the exact same thing as a kid (read in bed every single night), so it's hard to feel self-righteous about it.
Okay, even worse than that is hearing my mother's curse, "someday I hope you have a daughter JUST LIKE YOU" and realizing omigod, I think it's really happening...

I regret to inform that due to vandals/burglars trashing the building my store is in (read: smashing a bunch of holes in our walls), I will be unable to attend this evenings bacothon. I'm on my way to survey the damage right now.
This has been an interesting week. Nothing stolen, but it looks like I'm either going to spend most of my day on the phone harassing the building owner to fix it, or learning how to speed-sheetrock.
― John Justen, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 12:51 (eighteen years ago)
Shit, that sucks. I hope the damage isn't too bad. And that your week improves.
― Sara R-C, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 13:50 (eighteen years ago)
Yugh. Echoing Sara above there.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 13:57 (eighteen years ago)
holy crap! they didn't nab anything?? wtf. that's good news but it's pretty weird.

(I hope the initial impression that nothing was missing is stil true!)
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)
Holes in the walls? Were they using a backhoe or something...?!
Sorry about this John. I suspect ruffians in the hire of BB.
― Jon Lewis, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:53 (eighteen years ago)
I'd like to add Zombie J4s0n McMurr4y to the list of suspects.
― Sara R-C, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:55 (eighteen years ago)
*gooseflesh*
― Jon Lewis, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:56 (eighteen years ago)
I think someone waved a ham sandwich in front of Zombie JM and then whisked it away matador-style, letting him lumber into the walls and creating the aforementioned holes.
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)
An ugly scene, but the most likely scenario.
― Sara R-C, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)
MAN KILLS DUCK
Next Labor Day???
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 19:44 (eighteen years ago)
So you want to rip ducks heads off in hotel lobbies to celebrate Labor Day?
TYPICAL
― Sara R-C, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)
I know, I'm boring.
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 20:42 (eighteen years ago)
Now, if it was a goose...
― Sara R-C, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 20:55 (eighteen years ago)
wow i'm really really tired.
― John Justen, Thursday, 27 September 2007 00:54 (eighteen years ago)
Did you have to fix the holes yourself? Also, are you still at work? Because if you're home you're BETTER OFF THAN ME RIGHT NOW.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 27 September 2007 00:56 (eighteen years ago)
Dan, go home.
John, I'm glad that you didn't get eaten by Zombie J4s0n McMurr4y. Get some rest.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 September 2007 00:58 (eighteen years ago)
Wait, ZJM eats everything.
THAT'S NOT JOHN
― HI DERE, Thursday, 27 September 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)
i just read the crush archetypes thread because i thought it would be funny, embarrassing for some, and thus distract me from my day.

― John Justen, Thursday, 27 September 2007 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

you will be sorry
― John Justen, Thursday, 27 September 2007 04:25 (eighteen years ago)
I won't be, though.
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 27 September 2007 04:27 (eighteen years ago)
Well, it could have been worse.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 September 2007 04:53 (eighteen years ago)

― John Justen, Thursday, 27 September 2007 14:35 (eighteen years ago)
I resisted that fukn thread all day yesterday. JJ confirms I was right to do so. Today my resolve will not weaken. I AM IORN MANG.
― Jon Lewis, Thursday, 27 September 2007 14:52 (eighteen years ago)
Well, if you want to read what Tuomas, Louis, and Kenan think about not only the objects of their desire, but also single-sex schools and the value of womens studies/cultural studies programs with a bunch of other nutjobs weighing in every so often, it's the thread for you!
― John Justen, Thursday, 27 September 2007 15:13 (eighteen years ago)
I will only possibly read that thread when I can be swilling whiskey and listening to Hyphy Hitz (ie not at work).
― Jon Lewis, Thursday, 27 September 2007 15:15 (eighteen years ago)
Hey, I'm not saying it didn't go totally off into krazy land, I'm just saying it wasn't horrible.
Just remember, everything I read is still compared to that g.d. organic chemistry book that I hated. It's a pretty low standard.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 September 2007 15:42 (eighteen years ago)
OH I FORGOT TO MENTION TEH BIG HOOS.
― John Justen, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)
STILL MORE INTERESTING THAN CARBON AND ITS MANY BONDS, JOHN
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:09 (eighteen years ago)
Carbon has four bonds, in case you were wondering.
― Sara R-C, Thursday, 27 September 2007 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

Oh fuck it, i'm on lunch break and I'm bored and I need a long thread to read.

guys why are fireworks going off??
― gff, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 01:23 (eighteen years ago)
Was it some bizarre celebration of Columbus Day? Or Canadian Thanksgiving? Or the fact that the humidity dropped enough so that we don't have to swim through the air anymore?
Just a few guesses.
― Sara R-C, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 04:51 (eighteen years ago)
columbus day?
― gff, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, it seemed like an odd reason to have fireworks to me, too.
― Sara R-C, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)
But I'm in Northfield, and I don't know the ways of you City Folk. ;)

Not until you join them as lead warbler.
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 8 November 2007 23:08 (eighteen years ago)
