what is the best bourbon?

what is the one thing american ilxors dont understand about britisher ilxors?

gr8080, Monday, 8 October 2007 06:36 (seventeen years ago)

1. Always maintains eye contact, pompadour withers in heat, eats Brown Cow popsicles, observant, makes a point to speak to everyone, encouraging, suffers fools, slow talker, anecdotes about the RZA. Eats a fuckton of food. Tall! V. v. smart guy and a super-hottie, obv.

2. I don't really know about "best," but I drink a lot of Beam and Maker's these days. Used to drink Old Granddad exclusively, and that is certainly not the best.

3. That Mark C. sang on an Art Garfunkel record.

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 06:53 (seventeen years ago)

dearest roxy,

what do you have against ventriloquy? U PREJUDICED AGAINST PUPPETS?

latebloomer, Monday, 8 October 2007 07:35 (seventeen years ago)

4. Just that every ventriloquist on earth is embarassing. +1 for Harlan Pepper, though.

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 07:37 (seventeen years ago)

*embarrassing

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 07:38 (seventeen years ago)

how can you look into these eyes and not smile?

latebloomer, Monday, 8 October 2007 07:40 (seventeen years ago)

5. Ugh. Like this!

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 08:00 (seventeen years ago)

sorry but we can't be friends anymore. you dis my puppets, you dis my pics of my puppets, and when i sent you that tape of my ventriloquist act WHICH I WROTE JUST FOR YOU, you mailed it back with a note saying "get a life, DUMMY". and then you say i can't open for your band with my act.

sorry, but maybe you're just jealous because my career is actually taking off? i played at 2 local church youth centers and i'm a regular at the Barley's taproom in G'ville (every third Wednesday of the month). what have you and your band done? gone on TOUR? hahahahahaha!!!! in two years i'll be on LENO and OPRAH.

latebloomer, Monday, 8 October 2007 08:17 (seventeen years ago)

BTW, Mordechai (Lenny fell apart:-/) says, "(expletive)"

latebloomer, Monday, 8 October 2007 08:20 (seventeen years ago)

Late, are you just P.O.ed that you have chosen to engage ironically in an art that no longer actually exists, and now you have no other "skill"? ANY SERIOUS QUESTIONS PLZ

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:10 (seventeen years ago)

dear roxymuzak,

you're never going to finish tour blog. is it because it's been too long and you don't remember the details anymore?

Jordan, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:15 (seventeen years ago)

6. No, that's not it. I have an amazing knack for remembering details AND I write a lot of things down. It's really just the fact that it's been a long time that's making me hesitate to post it.

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:18 (seventeen years ago)

that's dumb

Jordan, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:20 (seventeen years ago)

that's dumb

nabisco, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:21 (seventeen years ago)

do u like me y or n?

chaki, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:21 (seventeen years ago)

roxymuzak
what is your favourite lip-syncing video?

onimo, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:23 (seventeen years ago)

xxxxxxx-post

it's not ironic! it is an active, healthy art form.

latebloomer, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:25 (seventeen years ago)

7. Chaki, you're great. I'm sorry that we ended up banning each other. "I was just trying to be funny."

8. My true favorite of all time is the teenaged Chinese boys in their bedroom lipsyncing and acting out Legend of the White Snake. It contains every element of lipsyncing videos that I celebrate, and I lvoe the song. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkRanYH_-cs

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:33 (seventeen years ago)

(Jordan/nabisco: Fuck you! Consider the blog in the editing stage. Latebloomer: You're cracked.)

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:36 (seventeen years ago)

9. what should i name my blog

omar little, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:38 (seventeen years ago)

i didnt really ban you

chaki, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

9. Name it "I know you, asshole."

Chaki, I have never even been to your board. :\

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:47 (seventeen years ago)

Dear Roxy, can YOU make this dancer go the other way? (and if so, how? thx) I only see her going counter-clockwise and trying to see her go clockwise is breaking my brain cell.

http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,22492511-5005375,00.html

StanM, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

(i only see clockwise, that is crazy!)

Jordan, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:53 (seventeen years ago)

roxy,

what kind of person would be dumb enough to encourage kingboypato posting?

chaki, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:53 (seventeen years ago)

10. Hi, Stan! First of all, the test is a sham! I see her going counter-clockwise, and I will not attempt to do otherwise for long because it is hurting my eyes.

11. I've never met such a person.

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

Dear Roxy,

Are men > women, or are women > men? (> = better than, not bigger than)

Yours,

Libc

libcrypt, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:36 (seventeen years ago)

this is not intended as a slight on roxymuzak as she is awesome, but really, you shouldn't be asking someone from tennessee what the best bourbon is.

(the answer is pappy van winkle 20 year family reserve)

hstencil, Monday, 8 October 2007 19:00 (seventeen years ago)

12. Some women and men > other women and men, and that's it.

(& Stence is right, Kentucky pwns Tennessee in bourbon lore any day.)

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 19:12 (seventeen years ago)

Roxy,

What is yr most obnoxious habit?

Yrs,

Libc

libcrypt, Monday, 8 October 2007 21:29 (seventeen years ago)

13. roxy how do you know jim jarmusch?

s1ocki, Monday, 8 October 2007 21:36 (seventeen years ago)

dear roxy,

why is it that numbers like 49 and 99, in roman numerals, are expressed as XLIX, or XCIX? wouldn't it have been easier to just use IL and IX?

related question: where do the french get off thinking belgians are dim, when the french say "four twenties and ten" and begians have a proper word for "ninety?"

confused,
nabisco

nabisco, Monday, 8 October 2007 21:42 (seventeen years ago)

(like especially why say XLV -- meaning "ten less than fifty, plus five" -- instead of just VL, meaning "five less than fifty"?)

nabisco, Monday, 8 October 2007 21:44 (seventeen years ago)

dear roxy,

where do you stand on the issue of bed sheets? tucked or untucked?

quotidianly,
-m.

mookieproof, Monday, 8 October 2007 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

13. My most obnoxious habit is either getting drunk and starting fights or intense procrastination. I am working on both.

14. I met Jim Jarmusch when my band played a music festival where he was showing Coffee and Cigarettes.

15. Because Roman numerals function in a kind of decimal system (grouped by what, in Arabic numerals, would be a decimal place). In other words, for 49, you gotta have 40, and you gotta have 9. IL would throw off the entire system. Did you ask me this because I studied Latin?

16. I don't know much about this, but I'd say that while the French are probably not being fair to the Belgians, they probably also do not care about their number ninety.

17. Tucked to the max!

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 21:57 (seventeen years ago)

18. How are you coping with Gradski as your new PA?

King Boy Pato, Monday, 8 October 2007 22:00 (seventeen years ago)

18. That's going really well. He's got inside scoops on everything and knows how I take my coffee. And I'm not above just sitting down and having a chat with him, like he is an actual friend of mine instead of just an employee.

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 22:03 (seventeen years ago)

I asked because you're smart and whatnot! I kinda realized why along the way, but it was still fun to wait for a response.

nabisco, Monday, 8 October 2007 22:04 (seventeen years ago)

:)

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 22:07 (seventeen years ago)

19. Dear Roxy - what is best black metal album for the noughties?

the next grozart, Monday, 8 October 2007 22:08 (seventeen years ago)

19. My gut says to go with Nachtmystium's Instinct: Decay. Highly recommended. Though apparently they no longer want to be known as a BM band (too bad, they still are).

roxymuzak, Monday, 8 October 2007 22:12 (seventeen years ago)

20. What's your stand on bassists like jaco pastorius and les claypool?

21. How big of a role does geometry play in composing bass lines?

22. Will anyone ever be as cool as Cliff Burton?

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:00 (seventeen years ago)

20. "Stop playing like an asshole" is my basic platform.

21. While you still suck, it plays a much bigger role than it will after you stop sucking.

22. Clarify: Do mean as cool just existing on Earth or as cool IN METALLICA?

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:06 (seventeen years ago)

earth.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:41 (seventeen years ago)

23. whats the name of your band+style+influences+ysi?

Zeno, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:45 (seventeen years ago)

22. Yeah, there are people that match Burton in coolness. No one will ever be as cool in Metallica, though.

23. The name of my band is Tenderhooks. There are a couple of other bands called this, and they stink. Our style is rock music. Our cumulative influences are Neil Young, Beatles, Television, Meat Puppets. My individual influences are Jon Entwistle, Paul McCartney, Peter Hook, and Matthew Freeman (for bassing) and Emmylou Harris (for singing).

You can listen to us here.

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:55 (seventeen years ago)

Revisiting question 10: Position your broswer so you can only see her feet and only concentrate on those for a while. Think about clockwise motion. Then scroll back up!

Ok.

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 02:54 (seventeen years ago)

dear rox,

which is yr fave led zep album?

when i go get snack later, should i get CHOC BROWNIE or DONUT?

haitch, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 03:21 (seventeen years ago)

24. IV, but I'm not the biggest fan in the world. I love "Black Dog."

25. I'd go for the brownie every time! It's way more substantial. You will be craving another snack in 2 seconds when you son that brownie.

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 03:24 (seventeen years ago)

I mean donut! Haw.

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 03:24 (seventeen years ago)

the brownie in question is pretty big, i think yr onto something here.

haitch, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 03:27 (seventeen years ago)

Here to help, haitch!

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 03:28 (seventeen years ago)

dear roxy,

do you wear a watch whilst playing bass?

-m.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 04:31 (seventeen years ago)

26. No, I do not. It would rub and cause a problem, because I hate to wear things like that on my left arm. Also, I do not wear a watch.

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 04:39 (seventeen years ago)

27. Mark Wahlberg's Shooter is a v good movie, have you seen it?

(If not, u should)

W4LTER, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 04:42 (seventeen years ago)

do you like men with facial hair? or a clean-shaven lad??
do you ever tour the west coast??

gershy, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 04:44 (seventeen years ago)

27. Nope!

28. I like both. I used to have a stronger predilection for beards, and I still have a soft spot for the three-days-with-no-shaving look.

29. Haven't yet, but soon.

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 04:59 (seventeen years ago)

30. Did you know that Pato posted on ILM as far back as November 10, 2000 (6 years ago)?
(I'm banned from 1p3 again it seems)

Heave Ho, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 05:27 (seventeen years ago)

:(

W4LTER, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 05:30 (seventeen years ago)

30. I had no idea, Heave!

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 06:26 (seventeen years ago)

roxy i didn't see any fliers for your band tonight. ;_;

who are you playing here with?

hstencil, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 06:47 (seventeen years ago)

31. No idea! The flyers are the fault of our booking agent, who is terrible, and getting fired. :D

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 06:49 (seventeen years ago)

well at least i'll be there. i did tell a couple people at the show tonight, and for whatever it's worth, the venue is awesome. they have a horseshoe pit! I CHALLENGE U.

hstencil, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 06:51 (seventeen years ago)

Thanks, stence! It already sounds 1000x better than the last place we played there.

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 06:56 (seventeen years ago)

dear roxy,
i just had a listen to your music and it is WAY COOL. why are you not mega famous?

xxx RR

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 08:56 (seventeen years ago)

32. Working on it, Rubes! And thanks!!

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 13:47 (seventeen years ago)

roxy muzak, is there anyone making good 80s Metallica/Megadeth style thrash today? is mastodon the closest thing? because i have Leviathan and that's pretty alright.

Jordan, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:10 (seventeen years ago)

rm - How come you never post on I Make Music anymore? Didn't you used to? I mean, I know it's pretty lame but the only way it's going to get better is if more cool people post there and actually talk about interesting things instead of just talking about gear. So how come, huh?

n/a, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:21 (seventeen years ago)

hi roxy, why do i not have my own "ask" thread yet?

ken c, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:24 (seventeen years ago)

33. Jordan, I am going to let you in on a little secret: all the good thrash is coming from Brazil! I have never gotten much into Mastodon and am unable to comment on them, sorry.

24. I pretty much only go there when I have occasion to ask a question about music-making. I typically look at ILE, ILM, Noize, and 1p3, and that's a handful as it is. I support the mission if IMM and will make an effort to do so more actively!

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:54 (seventeen years ago)

(er, 34)

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:54 (seventeen years ago)

35. Maybe because you are so open and friendly that you lack mystery? :)

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:55 (seventeen years ago)

Dear Ken C, who's the babe? (er, the one on the left)

StanM, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:59 (seventeen years ago)

Oh man, that was a hell of a day! My hair is as short as T-BOZ!! (Her hair, that is.)

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 15:01 (seventeen years ago)

dear roxymuzak,

have you ever had a romantic entanglement with a bandmate?

behind the music,
-m.

mookieproof, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 19:25 (seventeen years ago)

Dear Ms. Muzak,

Do you believe in an afterlife? Also, do you hate this question?

Yours dumbly,

Abbott McFaxmachine

Abbott, Thursday, 11 October 2007 04:50 (seventeen years ago)

35. All band relationships are romantic entaglements! That said, yes. I dated a bandmate for 5 years, even.

36. I do not believe in an afterlife and I am ambivalent about the question itself.

roxymuzak, Thursday, 11 October 2007 21:58 (seventeen years ago)

*entanglements

roxymuzak, Thursday, 11 October 2007 21:58 (seventeen years ago)

I AM AMBIVALENT ABOUT THAT QUESTION TOO! That is SO AWESOME. And I am glad to know that my hypothesis about bands eventually turning into Fleetwood Mac romantic meltdowns seems to be correct.

Abbott, Thursday, 11 October 2007 22:27 (seventeen years ago)

Well, that's not true in my experience at all, actually.

Bands either turn into meltdowns or they don't, regardless of smooches being performed or not. Romance rarely, IMO, complicates it any further. I think people underestimate how complex and fucked up band relations are as is.

roxymuzak, Thursday, 11 October 2007 22:41 (seventeen years ago)

Dear Roxy,

I don't want to make false assumptions, so what else do you play besides rock music? Also, who are your favourite bassists?

Tuomas, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:31 (seventeen years ago)

37. I am also in Children of Bodom, a local band. JK! I *have* played rock (metal, punk, and what I play now), bluegrass, and dub. I *can* play in various styles other than this. I have never studied jazz. My favorite bassists would be a long list. My first favorite was Matt Freeman, and my current favorite is Aston Barrett.

roxymuzak, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:38 (seventeen years ago)

38. Pick or fingers?

Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:42 (seventeen years ago)

To be honest, I'm not that big of a fan of Jaco Pastorius's playing either, but the dude wrote some lovely songs. Plus his solo albums are much less wanky than his reputation would make you think, "Word of Mouth" has maybe one bass solo altogether.

Tuomas, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:49 (seventeen years ago)

39. do you own a copy of buckingham/nicks?

omar little, Thursday, 11 October 2007 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

40. Where u at dawg?

latebloomer, Friday, 12 October 2007 04:16 (seventeen years ago)

her band's playing louisville tonight!

hstencil, Friday, 12 October 2007 19:13 (seventeen years ago)

ohh. forgot about that!

latebloomer, Friday, 12 October 2007 19:16 (seventeen years ago)

I have some live Pastborious stuff that's basically garage rock, it's pretty cool.

Roxymuzak, have you ever played in Wisconsin?

Jordan, Friday, 12 October 2007 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

hi do you have any treats

a puppy, Friday, 12 October 2007 19:19 (seventeen years ago)

38. Pick AND fingers.

39. No, I don't own a copy of Buckingham/Nicks.

40. I am tired and dirty in Lousville, Kentucky.

41. I have a half-eaten box of Captain's Wafers in the van.

roxymuzak, Saturday, 13 October 2007 00:04 (seventeen years ago)

42. did y'all get home safe last night? it was a pleasure to meet you and your band and see y'all play. forgot to mention that both hanson and black rebel motorcycle club were playing shows in louisville last night, that must be why there weren't 400+ people there...

hstencil, Saturday, 13 October 2007 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

42. We got home safe, but very tired. It was a pleasure to meet you, too! I am glad you attended.

roxymuzak, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:15 (seventeen years ago)

awesome, i really enjoyed your music! also i enjoyed talking with the guitar player whose name i'm blanking on! good dude!

hstencil, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:21 (seventeen years ago)

Sweet! I didn't want to ask you what you thought. Guitar player is named Ben. He likes prog. ;)

roxymuzak, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:34 (seventeen years ago)

he is the corny prog fuck, right? of thread legend?

hstencil, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:36 (seventeen years ago)

43. Indeed!

roxymuzak, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:43 (seventeen years ago)

hahahaha nice. i didn't want to say anything.

hstencil, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

Oh, he would have just loled, probably.

roxymuzak, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

44. please give me your thoughts on this picture:

http://www.cantstopthebleeding.com/img/fulmer1013.jpg

xpost - hey you were the one talking about the various sexual tensions in your band, i didn't wanna embarrass you or anything.

hstencil, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:49 (seventeen years ago)

Haha, they all involve Ben, according to what I was saying that night.

44. My initial thought is "ew", my second thought is "poor guitar", my third thought is "not the kind of guitar i initally thought", my fourth and final thought is "who is that".

roxymuzak, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:51 (seventeen years ago)

phillip fulmer, tennessee football head coach

hstencil, Saturday, 13 October 2007 19:54 (seventeen years ago)

I suppose in some reality I am expected to know this.

roxymuzak, Saturday, 13 October 2007 20:00 (seventeen years ago)

45. do you like my friend's country covers of misfits songs?

gr8080, Saturday, 13 October 2007 20:41 (seventeen years ago)

45. I do not like the sound of the recordings (and I hate the song "Where Eagles Dare.") Your friend is a good guitarist, though!

roxymuzak, Saturday, 13 October 2007 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

Roxy, you skipped my question! Wisconsin???

Jordan, Saturday, 13 October 2007 21:29 (seventeen years ago)

roxymuzak, Sunday, 14 October 2007 00:46 (seventeen years ago)

47. are you gonna play tha west coast?

omar little, Sunday, 14 October 2007 01:35 (seventeen years ago)

47. At some time. That is expensive, though. If we make a few mil in the East, we'll be there in a jif.

roxymuzak, Sunday, 14 October 2007 01:44 (seventeen years ago)

do u like my cover of the misfits song skulls? http://myspace.com/chaki

chaki, Sunday, 14 October 2007 01:45 (seventeen years ago)

48. Now, "Skulls" is a song I enjoy. I am familiar with this artist "Chaki" because he was recommended to me on Last.fm. I liked this cover very much. Cuet voice!

roxymuzak, Sunday, 14 October 2007 01:49 (seventeen years ago)

i am glad u like skulls at least..phew ;-)

latebloomer, Sunday, 14 October 2007 13:10 (seventeen years ago)

46. And sorry, Jordan. We have never played in Wisconsin, but we have definite plans to play there soon (Madison).

Let me know, because that is where I live.

Emily Robinson: I'm doing great! Just drinking some coffee and listening to some white folk music.

Chaki: I know you've been on tour recently. Any CRAZAY road stories for us?!

Emily: Well, in Terra Haute I got in a fight with a man with a perm who called me "babe". That's not a story, per se, but it's about the most drama we've seen in a while.
Also, we all have heroin problems and fuck each other.

Chaki: Did you hit him in the nards?

Emily: No, it was mostly a verbal standoff.

Chaki: Well I know you're a strong lady! All your fans know that from your awesome band pictures. You are a role model for all girls.

Chaki: Controversy!!!

Emily: That's not very controversial!!!!

Chaki: Your love for Varg Vikernes of racist band Burzum is well known. How in GOD' NAME do you defend yourself?!

Emily: I do not feel the need to defend myself.

Chaki: But he would want me dead! And i do not like that. Do you want me dead, Emily?!

Emily: I understand that point of view. I also listen to music made my many people who surely believe that I belong barefoot and pregnant in a kitchen, or that if I am raped it is my fault, or that if I become pregnant I should not be able to have a legal, safe abortion. Does any of this take the shine off of, say, "Ace of Spades"? I think not.

Chaki: Lemmy isn't racist!

Emily: Where's the line? I'd rather not have to research the person who made music to know if I like it or not. I shoul;d be able to know immediately. I did not call Lemmy a racist.

Chaki: Everyone knows Lemmy exclusvly dates black chicks. This is well known.

Emily: I was calling him a sexist. Get one reading comprehension skill.

Chaki: I will find pictures to prove that he only dates black chicks!

Lemmy and a black guy

Emily: I'm not sure you're following me.

Chaki: Well thanks for being my first celebrity interview for my Myspace page! I hope I did a great job!

Roxy: I'm working on some guitar-centric recording at home. Should I buy a cheap ($150) Squier bass and record with a direct line, or just keep doing synth bass with the drum machine and see what kind of sound develops? I think I just need someone to decide for me.

do knoxville peeps hate nashville? if so, is it justified or are y'all just jealous?

velko, Sunday, 25 January 2009 09:03 (sixteen years ago)

I'd say it's kind of a Manchester to London kind of relationship. I've never liked Nashville much, but I'm kinda ambivalent TBH. It's just an identity thing: when people hear you are from TN, they assume you are from Memphis or Nashville, both "cradles of country music" and big "music cities" which Knox is not recognized as being, despite being v. important in cuntry music history, natch. So, that's the main beef. Also Nashville sucks to be a working musician in, a lot of people are real "pro" and douchebaggy about band-related issues. I think that few regular people realy care about this, tbh, and it's mostly kind of a fringe, musician thing.

roxymuzak, Sunday, 25 January 2009 09:06 (sixteen years ago)

to inspire myself, i turn to myself (sunny successor), Saturday, 14 February 2009 07:46 (sixteen years ago)

Sunny,

AFAIK your actual name is Sunny Successor, so I'm working from there. Standard middle names like Anne and Marie can be nice if you think of them as accentuators of the actual meat-and-potatoes parts of the name (the surname and Christian name, obv). If you've got a good one-two punch with those, then a more vanilla (this does not mean plain, but rather receptive to other more whomp-you-over-the-gourd flavors) name will do well for you. However, if you want to be called Caledonia, be called Caledonia. Whatever makes you happy. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, in a way. Perhaps there is something or someone you would like to commemorate or pay tribute to with your name. Something to think about.
