If the AFL were smart, and had a modicum of interest about the non-business side of the game, they'd set it up so each state had it's own league, then the finalists in each state play off. More games, less travel, more local support, longer season. But while this would be great for SANFL, WAFL, VFL and the Northern Territory, should they field a league, there'd be resounding resounding silence from NSW and QLD, where everyone is too busy dressing up in women's clothing while bashing faggots while watching the *other* Footy Show.

Anyway, even if you're apathetic about it, no one deserves to be forced to move to the Gold Coast.

- Waking my housemate at 5am because I had to talk loudly in a "BBC Correspondent" accent as soon as I got home

Left it altogether. There was this moment when I called the Williams sisters 'bitches' for being sooks, and Dan Perry went seriously sick at me. I had literally no idea what I'd done wrong until about three months later when (a) Trayce said 'bitch' is a racially loaded term in the US and (b) I discovered horrific stuff about a racially-motivated attack on someone in Dan's family, which apparently was known to everyone except me. All this was too much and I gave up.

It is honestly hard to see the landmines in this place sometimes. And if you miss them, you're an idiot or ignorant. I mean ok, bald disingeniousness is one thing, and I swear to christ Tuomas is putting on an act sometimes, but yeah that kind of shit has sent away some of the best/funniest posters on here, which is shit.

i quite like it really, perhaps a bit sparser than i would normally be into but it's quite entertaining and that song about the sports and leisure centre is a crack up

Oh hey, I went to Dan Murphy's tonight and wouldn't you know, it was really busy. Packed even. Had to queue for the checkout for ages.

4amanda.....well at first they were all a bit standoffish, awkward etc etc, but we only had 2.5 hours to shoot in, which probably sounds like a lot but it took over an hour for them to get made up, so it was pretty rushed and everyone just had to pull together and work as a team, which is kind of odd when you've literally only just met everyone. By the end of the shoot, they were staging a fake orgy on the bed in the studio and I saw all three girls including Amanda topless and a hell of a lot more of the male members groin areas than I really wanted to :)

Geez, way to google proof kate. Duh.

I've decided this one can stay up since it's not a proper shot or anything. Just the MUA enjoying the perks of the job :)

ok i already mentioned this on the other thread but seriously i can't stop telling people about it, even tho it's probably meaningless to most ppl...

but jordan has gotten me the best prez in the whole world ever... this collector's edition of ray caesar's work in book form (which has never been done before), limited to 500, signed by caesar, including a limited giclee print, cloth-bound, embossed... OMG it's the most beautiful thing ever in the world. and as well: he went on this mad hunt to track down all these beautiful art/design mags, anything that featured interviews/pics of ray caesar's work... and then he made me this powerpoint presentation, which was so cute, and gradually revealed the gift with photos and all this cool stuff, and had this totally romantic letter, which made me cry like such a baby, it was so beautiful! honestly, the amount of effort he put into the whole thing was so incredible, and no one has ever done this kind of thing for me, and made me feel so special!

i like ryden a lot, and jordan actually bought me 'fushigi circus' a couple of months ago, it's a really beautiful book. but caesar just blows me away. did you know there are hidden objects inside the drawers in some of his images??? dude is crazy cool. and i just love how a lot of his inspiration comes from having worked in a children's hospital for 17 yrs, and how he 'collects textures they way other ppl collect stamps'.

i think that's one of the things i like so much about the photography of yours i've seen on ilx - it has that same attention to detail, the same kind of 'fullness' (for lack of a better word; i r slightly intoxicated from afterwork bday drinks) that i love in artists like caesar and blaine fontana and alex gross.

no i agree - he is overrated. but i still think some of his stuff is gorgeous. and 'fushigi circus' is such a beautifully crafted book (altho it's too small to fully do the images justice).

I guess to be honest I was initially inspired by some of the artists you mentioned, and wanted to see if you could make photographs that weren't unlike their paintings. I went on various detours along the way, experimenting and whatnot. One day I will perfect the "painterly photograph".

i like that your photos achieve that almost painterly look without actually looking like they've been manipulated at all.

Not manipulating images is kind of one of my unwritten rules. I'll do retouching and whatnot, but I will rarely, if ever introduce anything that wasn't really there in the studio because part of the process for me is the idea that this scenario could really exist.

I also kind of get off on the idea of capturing that perfect moment within the frame. What the camera sees is perfect, what the subject sees (and me when I'm putting it together) is the hot glue gun gobs and hunks of wire and tape holding it all together. Even 4manda P4lmers dress was safety pinned at the back....but within that moment, everything with frame is frozen, perfect.

i think she can be patchy but her best work is truly wonderful. i really like the blank expressions of her characters
