OMgosh my favorite chocolate ever for real

Surmounter, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

White chocolate is too sweet to eat on its own, although it is acceptable in a dark chocolate brownie or cookie which also includes macadamia nuts.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)

it's not that great

whittaker's white chocolate and macadamia=best ever. maybe only available in NZ. first 3 white-choc-loving ilxors to email me their addresses i will send a block of this to you for free.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 20:57 (eighteen years ago)

i don't even know what it is

gbx, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

it is white chocolate in a 250g block, stuffed with whole macadamias, made by a nz chocolate company here in wellington. confidentiality laws forbid me from being anymore specific than that.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

The Sees chocolate thing with the dried apricot and nuts in white chocolate ist deus. Most other is too cloying.

Abbott, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

no i don't even really know what white chocolate is

vahid has me alarmed

gbx, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

I don't like white chocolate and therefore am retarded but if I post this I will quell the urge to post on whichever thread that is on ILM today that has just shifted into HIGH GEIR.

Fuck you white chocolate, you are too rhythmic.

nickalicious, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 21:53 (eighteen years ago)

why on EARTH would you eat this bullshit when real chocolate exists

max, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

does make you feel sickly quicker than any other chocotype tho

"quickly" = "immediately upon noticing its presence"

Retardedly,

nabisco, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 21:56 (eighteen years ago)

gbx:
White chocolate is a confection of sugar, cocoa butter, and milk solids. Unlike chocolate, white chocolate contains neither chocolate liquor nor cocoa solids. The low melting point of cocoa butter allows white chocolate and chocolate to remain solid at room temperature, yet melt easily in the mouth. As such, white chocolate has a texture similar to that of milk chocolate.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)

Some "white chocolate", known as confectioner's coating or summer coating, is made from inexpensive solid or hydrogenated vegetable fats, and as such, is not at all derived from cocoa. These preparations may actually be white in color (in contrast to white chocolate's ivory shade) and will lack cocoa butter's flavor.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

even sicklier than white chocolate: caramac and similar

blueski, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

blargh

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

confection of sugar, cocoa butter, and milk solids

in other words: sugar + vegetable shortening extracted from cocoa beans + coffee creamer

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

basically straight sugar + fat ... which is actually what FLAN is, and FLAN is FANTASTIC. saw a good anthony bourdain last night where he went to a portugese farmhouse and they ate every part of a big and dessert was flan made from the rendered pig fat + egg yolks + sugar.

but yeah, in general i avoid white chocolate the same way i avoid flan and chocolate syrup.

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

haha "every part of a pig", not a big

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

It tastes like cake frosting

-- Hurting 2

it basically IS extra-rich frosting. frosting is shortening, sugar, milk, butter and vanilla. the only thing missing is butter and vanilla.

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

good cookies: big soft ones with macadamia nuts, coconut and white chocolate chips

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

tipsy mothra, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)

the only thing missing is butter and vanilla

ie the good parts

gabbneb, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:22 (eighteen years ago)

white chocolate is fucking delicious but i can only take a little bit

sleep, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 22:34 (eighteen years ago)

basically straight sugar + fat ... which is actually what FLAN is, and FLAN is FANTASTIC

Now I'm confused because I love flan but I wouldn't cross the street to eat white chocolate.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:00 (eighteen years ago)

flan has a lot more protein, now that i think about it.

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

2 blocks of this choc are still up for grabs.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

I just emailed you. Yum. Thanks for the offer.

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:21 (eighteen years ago)

i'll probably send them out today - but keep in mind these are coming all the way from NZ and it's the holiday season, so it might take up to 2 weeks.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:23 (eighteen years ago)

A small time to wait for whittaker's white chocolate and macadamia=best ever

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:24 (eighteen years ago)

B.L.A.M. i'm going to send you a 2nd flavour as a surprise. drop some hints about what other chocolate sensations you like.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

I'm open to any and all derivations, but favorites are those that combine dark, almost semi-sweet chocolate and fruit flavors - berries, peaches, etc.

Lindt does a few different chocolate bars like this that I LOVE - in particular is the dark chocolate/pear/some kind of nut they do. AMAZING.

I put myself in your seemingly-capable, and certainly generous, hands. Thanks so very much.

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:34 (eighteen years ago)

ok mr blam i have some very good ideas now.

also T: i'm sending you a 2nd flav as well. only because you're dancing in your kitchen.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

Well I am a pretty good dancer!

I know, right?, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:46 (eighteen years ago)

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:47 (eighteen years ago)

i like the Cote D'Or chocolate that has bits of apple in it which you can buy in France but Holloway Waitrose doesn't carry.

blueski, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:47 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, don't forget to put a sender's address. For niceness in return.

I know, right?, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:50 (eighteen years ago)

hmmm nothing i can think of right now. a lot american sweet stuff is available here, or at least the more popular stuff. i'll put a return address on the package and you can send me a surprise.

T, your address is so awesome.

Rubyredd, Wednesday, 26 December 2007 23:54 (eighteen years ago)

I made those T!

I didn't tell you about whittakers. You've got to say the brand name like you've got alot a big big moustache. Or at least that is how me and Christiane say it.
Can't believe people are sending you chocolate! And to your Galway address!

o-ess, Thursday, 27 December 2007 00:03 (eighteen years ago)

I noted this progress whilst handling the flickr situation on your mail.
C wants to make me some egg free cheesecake situation with which chocolate. However time is running out and she is more concerned that the couch we're putting her on is clean. We know it's not.

o-ess, Thursday, 27 December 2007 00:05 (eighteen years ago)

Well I turned the DVD off so I could watch it back in Limerick. It was good. And I'm nearly as bad as Woody Allen, so I couldn't put the movie back on now even if I wanted to.

I know, right?, Thursday, 27 December 2007 00:08 (eighteen years ago)

We're discussing the merits of hitching into town, C feels that the pressure to make conversation is too big and would rather pay.

o-ess, Thursday, 27 December 2007 00:13 (eighteen years ago)

sorry white chocolate thread, this is hardly the place

o-ess, Thursday, 27 December 2007 00:13 (eighteen years ago)

T is a charmer, that's how he gets choc sent to him.

Rubyredd, Thursday, 27 December 2007 00:46 (eighteen years ago)

and baked for him. you've fallen into the trap too, rubyredd

o-ess, Thursday, 27 December 2007 00:51 (eighteen years ago)

i'm a sucker for irish accents, obv.

okay:
T, i've sent you 1 x whittaker's white chocolate macadamia & 1 x coconut rough.
mr B.L.A.M, i've sent you 1 x whittaker's white choc mac & 1 x milk chocolate kiwifruit.

you guyz better LOVE this chocolate - international postage makes this the most expensive choc you will ever eat.

Rubyredd, Thursday, 27 December 2007 01:42 (eighteen years ago)

you are retarded.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 27 December 2007 02:13 (eighteen years ago)

Not a fan of white - bit too sweet for me - but white chocolate pocky is great!

Trayce, Thursday, 27 December 2007 02:19 (eighteen years ago)

I used to be a total white chocolate fanatic, now I could take it or leave it. I guess the problem is that fancy expensive chocolate bars with really high cocoa percentages account for the vast majority of my chocolate consumption these days, and trying to imagine eating white chocolate in that way is just weird and wrong. it does compliment a lot of other things really well, though.

Why would eat the real thing when the artificial is superior?

I remember when this question was cutting edge

I was eight years old

J0hn D., Thursday, 27 December 2007 18:35 (eighteen years ago)

of course back then the question had another word or two in it

J0hn D., Thursday, 27 December 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)

back then I got more sleep in the morning too.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 27 December 2007 18:38 (eighteen years ago)

mr B.L.A.M, the whitechoc/mac is classic, but the kiwifruit could be dud - i've never tried it, since i'm not a kiwifruit fan. but it's our national fruit (even tho i think it's chinese in origin), so it seemed appropriate to send it. now i'm thinking i should have sent the dark choc with orange rind instead. life is full of regrets ;_;

Rubyredd, Thursday, 27 December 2007 22:39 (eighteen years ago)

I like kiwi a lot. I'm sure that it will be great. I will be certain to post reviews.

Ugh, I'm pretty sure the "frosting" on the brownies the cafeteria at my college served was just Crisco plus sugar. I always scraped that off. (Ditto for the disturbing green mint "frosting," which I strongly suspect was Crest toothpaste.)

But to each their own...

Sara R-C, Saturday, 5 January 2008 03:18 (seventeen years ago)

Ruby, T will be back in Galway soon enough, so the chocolate will soon be his. Unless his family get to it first, which is quite likely.

o-ess, Saturday, 5 January 2008 13:36 (seventeen years ago)

haha - i bet they're wondering who the hell is sending him packages from NZ!

Rubyredd, Saturday, 5 January 2008 20:39 (seventeen years ago)

ten months pass...

i am not a fan of the white chocolate, tho i have a story.

I was on this fantastic acid and wandering about as uni student is apt, and I get to my friends' house, where he is having a party/rave type thing. It is still the beginnings, and one of his housemates works in an erotic bakery. So here I am in this room full of people, tripping my face off, and all of them are nibbling on chocolate penises, both white and milk. (As well as some of that dreadful pink color that they dye white chocolate with).

Anyway...

(Also hilarious when you snobs are dissing white chocolate but you eat shitty *real* chocolate.)

Et oui, mon cher ami. Le chocolat est fantastique mais la plupart est merde.

My street has about 10 shops that sell chocolate. I think. Something like that.

it would be edible if not for the inevitable disappointment caused by the anticipation of chocolatiness.

White chocolate = suxors. 71% cacao dark or fight!

Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Monday, 29 December 2008 02:12 (sixteen years ago)

The main problem with white chocolate is it's got this dark cousin that keeps p0wning it.

I don't like it. But then again, I'm not a chick.

Yeah! I just realized that like last year or something. Gotta be honest though - I still <3 it but that could be because I'm not retarded.

This thread prompted me to get myself so much toblerone in the mail, btw.

I learned that if you want the notoriously truant apartment handyman to show up a second time, give him a toblerone the first time he shows up.

Stop Non-Erotic Cabaret (Abbbottt), Tuesday, 21 December 2010 04:10 (fifteen years ago)

my gf bought some choco chips and some white choco chips. I was eating the choco on some "What makes this taste so good? Is there milk in here?" and then out of curiosity looked at the white bag and O_O
