I was never a LARPer but I was in a stupid water-gun assassins game, in which absolutely everyone else WAS a LARPer. This led to guilt, then shame, then me leaving the game for good.

As for indie kids, well, they're EVERYWHERE. More importantly, they regard themselves as musical authorities, which often puts them in contact with myself. Worse, I like a lot of music that could be classed as 'indie'. Thus, when I hear or see their ridiculous scenester posturing (which invariably has nothing to do with my criterion, how wickedly brilliant the music is), I am afflicted again with guilt and shame, as sounds I love are associated with the most hateful wankers you could hope to meet.

I get that every time I read ILM.

I did vote Blues, but AOR, Punk and Country are probably just as if not more deserving. These three are the genres at which you'll probably find the most creative stagnation, the closest adherence to 'genre' itself, sucking the dick that fucks you.

There are barely any mods anymore, either! Just pockets of hold-outs, you basically have to go and FIND them at their regularly scheduled events and even then prob 50% of the attendees just wandered in or are really indie-kid crossovers.

this is kind of interesting to me. i find a lot of people, myself included, tend to turn hostile towards people who exhibit qualities they have become ashamed or guilty of. a good example for me was that i went through an extremely radical political phase in my early twenties, and tend to be kind of disgusted when i see people of the same age caught in the same mindset.

as far as this list goes, i try not to judge mass groups of people, but what's the fun in that? if animal rights activists were separated from vegans, i might've chosen them. gonna have to go for Straight Edge, though. from my experience both of these (as well as a few others mentioned on the list) are mostly young people who had fucked up lives who feel like extreme action is required to force others to take them seriously.

I take men on scooters seriously. Some of them, anyway.
