usually i use this to refer to someone who is friendly and laid-back and has a sense of humour about his or herself. and likes to bro down.

s1ocki, Thursday, 17 January 2008 23:57 (eighteen years ago)

Sometimes girls can be bros; which gets confusing if there is attraction there and you generally adhere to a bros before hoes policy.

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 17 January 2008 23:59 (eighteen years ago)

I'm so not a bro. I am anxious, depressed and withdrawn and like to hang out with girls.

wanko ergo sum, Thursday, 17 January 2008 23:59 (eighteen years ago)

For me "broig down" can be anything from participating in a drunken pushup contest to engaging deeply in a meandering pseudo-intellectual conversation. Broing down signifies more a level of camaraderie, good spirit and commitment brought to an activity than the nature of the activity. And a bro likes to bro down.

Insofar as a bro adds to your own social currency, which is a good definition IMO, Abbott OTM.

guys I have decoded "like to cut loose and have a good time" and it is apparently non-broglish in a vague way for "likes to bro down"

so all you nonbros please just vote for "likes to bro down" since that is what it really means

i bro'd down last night. tried to see in the name of the king, failed because the movie was broken, then went home. not before one of my true bros gave me one of the beers he brought to sneak into the theater.

omar little, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:10 (eighteen years ago)

broing down is inclusive of but not limited to cutting loose and having a good time

Hurting 2, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:11 (eighteen years ago)

gr8080, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:11 (eighteen years ago)

I mean you and your bros can get some good tacos and just enjoy the shit out of those tacos, and you are broing down on some tacos even though you're not really "cutting loose"

Hurting 2, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:11 (eighteen years ago)

my group of core bros has peripheral bros as well, plus some hard-drinking ladies.

omar little, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:12 (eighteen years ago)

broing down is expansive enough to include shopping, for example.

Jordan, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:12 (eighteen years ago)

OK I think maybe

1. "bros" = bad, non-ho priority established meaning THESE are the people who think they have to explain to me things such as fuses burning out in a car, what bit torrent is, that Rush is a band, who Snake Pliskin is, etc. But does in fact 'bro' mean impolite and presumptuously sexist? Well that is where

2. "dude" comes in, the good bro. You guys are all DUDES but I can see the bro thing; I think it is a personal connotation

how come shirtless out of shape guys look like they're cutting loose and having a great time, but shirtless in shape guys just look like they're showing off?

Jordan, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:15 (eighteen years ago)

Based on the can holder on the mic stand, I would bet that the musicians are also broing down.

Very bro to not have swiped the beer, too.

gabbneb, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:22 (eighteen years ago)

People who call everyone "bro" consistently are people who are always trying to force you, upon departing, to "bump the rock" or "hammer down," or whatever phrase their circle has for the "hitting each others fists instead of high-fiving" thing.

Abbott, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:22 (eighteen years ago)

I just think of "bros" as being like the guys pictured above, which is to say, I have largely bad associations with the term. I just have "friends"; some guys, some gals.

Also, self-conscious "male-bonding" sessions border on creeping me out.

dell, Friday, 18 January 2008 00:23 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not good at bro-ing down...low alcohol tolerance. Is it possible to bro down and stay sober?
