We were driving in E St Kilda and a guy on a motorbike came off the pavement and nearly went under our car. It then pulled off the road ahead of us and the woman on the back (no helmet), who had been yelling, got off and ran across the road. The driver followed her on foot (nearly going under our car again) and tackled her to the pavement REALLY violently. The look on his face was terrifying.

We turned off, parked and called the police. 'Er indoors kept trying to go back there to help the woman (that's her impulse, despite the danger imposed) and I had to keep physically pulling her back while giving information to the police.

We drove past there ~45 minutes later and no emergency vehicles were there, so I assume she's at least not dead, but jesus. Sorry for mentioning it here, was in a very weird frame of mind last night, had to let it out somewhere.

I've kept the vocals and am building up a disturbing Weilesque melodic background. Imagine K@m@hl nervously walking through an Enoesque fog, trying to keep his nerve and faith in a higher power.

As I enter my 40's I have adopted a very pragmatic, non-obsessional approach to recording: literally, 2-4 bars a night. I'm in and out of the studio in 20 mins and the track is complete in 2-3 weeks. The long, long, benders through the night are a thing of the past.

(plus moving everything from one side of the harbour to the other five years back...)

I have enjoyed a cheap and delicious meal at my local Thai place, and return to my desk fulfilled and happy, and, above all, ready to work for the talented musicians of this sunblessed land. The meal itself comprising chili basil chicken and a very light Thai omlette.

No doubt the chicken died a gruesome death. Perhaps, indeed, the chicken who provided my eggs was shortly thereafter slaughtered for the same meal?

Jim, I do find that when I'm feeling suicidal it helps to contemplate the sheer impotence of the act; for, ultimately, it matters not whether we live or die, so why make the effort to secure the implements, and study the techniques, of successful suicide, when one can continue to simply sit in despair? i made the mistake of trying to beat jetlag by staying up as long as i could and then letting myself go to sleep at a "normal" hour for the UK. i ended up totally messing with my head and body doing this. then i gave myself a throat infection by smoking a lot of cigarettes after not having smoked for nearly 3 years. then i got really sick and couldn't eat. then i passed out twice while waiting for a train and split open my chin & had to go to hospital ;_;

there were other crappy aspects but that's the main thrust of it. the highlights were seeing an old friend in glasgow and meeting several very nice UK ilxors

Dear mongs. I need some advice, though I don't think many of you are in my position. As you know, I quite like a red wine. I quite like a beer too. In fact, don't ask me why, but I have a six-pack in the fridge right now, a Jagermeister, a bottle of gin and probably a few reds lying around the house. But I've been on an almost no-alcohol regimen for the year so far, only had two at a party, and two GnTs at a post-Scrabble bar session. And, like, I love being tipsy, but I am experiencing good health, having lots of energy, saving money and my complexion is really clear now and I've kind of decided that for now, I don't need alcohol in my life at all. How does one go about beeing a teetotaller without being a cunt wowser? I still want to have fun with drunken friends and such but I don't want to wet-blanket them when I say "no booze for me".

i must admit that my recent efforts to be respectable (until last fri nite, ooof) involved the 'two drinks, one water' ratio. seems to work!

that's hardly teetotal, of course.

I learned the only way for me to do such things is not start in the first place. Once I do, thats it, I'm gone. Unless I eat, then that seems to help.

it's a good idea. foam is a scam - it only really absorbs the highs and none of the lows so you end up with a dull boomy room. rockwool absorbs frequencies much more evenly so you end up with a better sounding room. also it helps reduce volume much more effectively

Dumb question: would sticking bits on the walls at least help? Shurely I dont have to cover an entire 5x2 metre wall with the shizz :/

no you wouldn't need to cover the wall - tbh if you're not using the room for mastering, a 4" slab in each corner and 2" in the middle of each wall would totally do it for you
