this reminds me less of my experience at college and a lot more of my experience going to nerd camp between 8th and 9th grade and doing improv games and re-enacting the parrot sketch at the talent show

If it wasn't actually called Nerd Camp then you suck.

In my first term at uni we had an evening where we got incredibly drunk and everyone did a little skit or sang a song or whatever, and everyone else was terribly polite and encouraging about it. I don't think there was anything this embarrassing, though.

I went to college in Britain and I never saw anything like this. I think they're laughing in the way that you laugh with the crazy guy on the bus out of fear he might suddenly turn on you otherwise.

This reminds me of something that happened when I was at college. A guy walked into the cafeteria and put Brian May's "Driven By You" on the jukebox, then he started jumping around all over the place playing air guitar, skidding on his knees, etc.. I was sitting with some friends right next to the jukebox, unable to move because of this guy. Then the song finished and he just walked out as though nothing had happened. There was complete silence and then we noticed that everybody sitting at all the other tables had backed away, and were sitting at the tables lining the walls as far away from this air guitar guy as possible.

Nb I like Louis a lot and I don't think there's anything that bad being thrown at him this thread except the assertion that he should have been beaten up more at school. Possibly if he weren't here to defend himself, but that's clearly not the case.

Essentially his problem is that he's happy to go 'hey look at me!' until he realises the attention he is getting is spiralling out of his control and then suddenly he wants to shut the stable door after the horse has bolted, when he would be better off, like NOT ALLOWING THIS STUFF ON THE INTERNET IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Yes, me too. (Including the drinking part.) LJ is fine by me. My point was a general one about Oxbridge and what passes for humour among its undergrads, but I shouldn't have made it on a thread I knew full well he was reading in response to something he did when he was 17. (Hi Louee! Live strong!)
