I have always found NP strangely sexless. I'm sure she doesn't mind.

Scarlett by about 6 light years.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:14 (seventeen years ago)

scarlett dumb as a brick though

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:17 (seventeen years ago)

I'm sticking to my vote.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:17 (seventeen years ago)

I realize that's not the question at hand but suffocating dimness detracts a great deal from bonerability in my personal estimation

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:21 (seventeen years ago)

Generally I'd agree but it's not like I've actually met Ms Johansson to verify this alleged dumbness also she be like GODDAMN

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:23 (seventeen years ago)

Portman having an Erdos number (nevermind the Erdos-Bacon number) is pretty sexy but then I am a robot

El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:23 (seventeen years ago)

in this partic film/publicity campaign, s-jo, but usually portman.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:23 (seventeen years ago)

Portman = too indie, too waify. Also fuck a Star Wars.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:25 (seventeen years ago)

I don't find either of them particularly hot - Johansson is a too much a stereotypical blonde cover girl, and Portman is too thin. I guess I'd go for Portman still, there's more personality in her looks.

Tuomas, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:25 (seventeen years ago)

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:28 (seventeen years ago)

I mean, that table dancing scene in Closer - like walking in on your little sister cluelessly dancing about in her underwear.

DavidM, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:29 (seventeen years ago)

What's this "Boleyn sister" thing, btw? They're in a movie together?

Tuomas, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:30 (seventeen years ago)

if NP was so bloody clever she could demonstrate it by not being in sucky films all the time

DG, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:30 (seventeen years ago)

that's because it's the worst film of all time.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:31 (seventeen years ago)

You'd rather have had a film that was like walking in on your little sister expertly dancing about in her underwear?

Alba, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:31 (seventeen years ago)

Can we all agree that this Boleyn film is probably some major bullshit but it's not like we're actually ever going to watch it and find out? The title alone makes my toes curl with embarrassment.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:32 (seventeen years ago)

notion of a jewish-australian royal family is kind of cool.

DavidM, Saturday, 8 March 2008 13:40 (seventeen years ago)

Portman is definitely hotter in the poster. She's definitely hot but I'd agree that in the films she's sposed to be sexy she's notably sexless. In Hotel Chevalier she even gets naked, but nope, does nuffin for me.

newsnight review hosted a gratifying rubbishing of this movie last night, wherein it is asserted that "we now have definitive proof that scarlett johansson cannot act"

they all said her name as "yo-hanson" -- isn't that wrong?

Scandinavians pronounce the "j" in Johansson like the "y" in "yo", not like Americans pronounce "j".

wanko ergo sum, Saturday, 8 March 2008 14:45 (seventeen years ago)

nobody on newsnight review last night was scandinavian! .. and as far as i'm aware miss scarlett herself is standard-issue american.

it was kirsty wark who said it first and i wonder if the others followed her lead just to be polite??!

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 8 March 2008 14:45 (seventeen years ago)

The Swedish pronounciation would be something like Yoh-hans-son. The "o"'s are pronounced like the "a" in the English word "all".

Tuomas, Saturday, 8 March 2008 14:48 (seventeen years ago)

as far as i'm aware miss scarlett herself is standard-issue american.

swedish-jewish innit tho. i say "yo-hanson".

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Saturday, 8 March 2008 14:48 (seventeen years ago)

i've always figured it was 'yo'

blueski, Saturday, 8 March 2008 14:48 (seventeen years ago)

I know she's American but I would pronounce Johansson in the Swedish way because that would sound more natural to me, it being a Swedish name.

Tuomas, Saturday, 8 March 2008 14:50 (seventeen years ago)

i wiki'd -- it's danish. i guess it depends how she pronounces it.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Saturday, 8 March 2008 14:51 (seventeen years ago)

Danish basically sounds like Swedish spoken with a hot potato in you mouth.

Tuomas, Saturday, 8 March 2008 14:53 (seventeen years ago)

But I think they both pronounce "j" pretty much the same way.

Tuomas, Saturday, 8 March 2008 14:54 (seventeen years ago)

"One thing I did learn from them: Johansson (as in Scarlett Johansson) is pronounced 'Yo-hansson.'"

http://www.filmfreakcentral.net/dvdreviews/americanrhapsody.htm

yet

"Despite her family's Danish background, please note, Johansson's name is pronounced Jo (not Yo) hansson."

Portman looks a bit of a man-face in that poster xps. She's prettier than that usually. Just not someone you would want to fuck like mad, unlike Scar-Jo.

In the recent round of interviews with her I've noticed it's been Johansson with a hard-J.

Would watch this film (on DVD) for entertainingly barmy Tudor soap reasons (and Scar-Jo and Portman: sisters? lol ect ect).

DavidM, Saturday, 8 March 2008 15:22 (seventeen years ago)

I watched this thing where Natalie Portman took her parents to hang out with some gorillas or something, she was way cuter in it than in any movie.

I'm inclined to pick Portman here, but after seeing "Hotel Chevalier" her rail-thin torso is a bit disturbing.

ScarJo is 23, a graduate of an NYC arts-focused college prep school who did not go to college.

Portman is 26, a Harvard grad who did further work at Hebrew U., and who entered the Intel (formerly Westinghouse) Science Talent search and has been published twice in scientific journals (as a co-author).

naaaaaah. i think they're both pretty bad at the acting, but if anything s-jo is the more overrated. NP better in 'v for vendetta' than s-jo in 'the island'. and NP was in 'heat'.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Saturday, 8 March 2008 19:24 (seventeen years ago)

i'd rate the performances in "the island" and "man who wasn't there" and even "in good company" well over "garden state," "closer" (which i've only seen bits of) and the star wars, easy.

max, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:25 (seventeen years ago)

A B C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:27 (seventeen years ago)

Usually you're like: ok, Hammett, Hetfield, or Ulrich.

"Ew! God, I'd kill Ulrich immediately and I guess if I had to I'd fuck Hammett."

"So you're going to marry James Hetfield?!"

"UGH! Ok, wait..."

Like that.

It's not like, "Damn, I'd do anything to slay THAT bitch!!"

roxymuzak, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:28 (seventeen years ago)

i had no idea about this ancient game. what the hell is wrong with me.

latebloomer, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:28 (seventeen years ago)

Tuomas, the "kill" is just a removal from existence. In my group we consider it total, the world will be as if they NEVER existed.

roxymuzak, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:29 (seventeen years ago)

It's about WHATEVER, dude! You try to make it either repulsive so that the person does not want to really fuck any of them, or you make it a difficult choice in another way. It's definitely NOT a game of "which chick is hot!" or something like that. It's more of an "If you had to," as I said before.

gershy, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:37 (seventeen years ago)

I think it's up to the group that's playing it to decide that type of rule, but we generally view it as a life partnership. You, the individual, decide with your life partner (James Hetfield) if it is to be a sexual relationship or not.

roxymuzak, Sunday, 9 March 2008 19:37 (seventeen years ago)

I mean if it's sex, it's not that different than the "fuck" option, so making it a lifelong, see-you-every-day thing more than like a constant fuckfest makes it a more interesting choice, I think.

milo z, Monday, 10 March 2008 03:16 (seventeen years ago)

Someone mentioned NP seemed to be too boney and skinny to be attractive, and I was reading up on Anne Boleyn. Turns out Anne Boleyn was considered to be too thin and not conventionally pretty, but she had an intensely charismatic personality. NP was a good choice.

The film made SJ look kind of bland, especially unflattering were the shots making her nose look bulbous and fit for a country bumpkin. The only beauty shot for SJ was "the morning after" where she's in King Henry's arms. She has great tits, of course. But the costumes didn't really play them up as much as they could have.

NP was as flat as a washboard in her costume. But I thought I saw that the costumes had her corsetted so tightly that even skinny NP had skin folds peaking out of the back! Ewww! All that discomfort for what?

The movie got mediocre reviews. I saw most of it on Friday. It wasn't bad. I liked the lavish period costumes a lot.

Melinda Mess-injure, Monday, 10 March 2008 03:40 (seventeen years ago)

'too skinny' does not compute

wanko ergo sum, Monday, 10 March 2008 03:44 (seventeen years ago)

I have never seen a film with Natalie Portman in it.
Scarlett is in The Man who wasn't there, Lost in translation (urgh), AND The Black Dahlia. The first of those is great, I don't know why i watched the other two.
(Well, the Dahlia case is interesting is why, but that film...)
What i'm saying here is, I find Portman about a million times hotter than Johannsen, but I've never seen her act. And looking at her imdb page, i can't find a single thing i'd want to see.
All the people preffering Johannsen to Portman with great vehemence, are pretty nutty imo.

Frogman Henry, Monday, 10 March 2008 03:58 (seventeen years ago)

Oh, Johannsen did quite a good job of looking like an oil painting in that Vermeer flick.

Frogman Henry, Monday, 10 March 2008 03:59 (seventeen years ago)

Ffs tho, she really does look like girls i see everyday. That in itslf doesnt equal not hot, but she can't compare with Portman.

Frogman Henry, Monday, 10 March 2008 04:04 (seventeen years ago)

where's that drunk thread?

Frogman Henry, Monday, 10 March 2008 04:05 (seventeen years ago)

sorry, Johansson is way hotter

first poster otm - something sexless about Portman. She looks like the kind of person who'd be disgusted by everything.

She has great tits, of course. But the costumes didn't really play them up as much as they could have.

While I can understand what you're saying here, it's kinda sad if one of the main interests in S. Johansson's films is how her tits are played up.

I'll Never Marry, Says Star Wars' Natalie Portman
Mar 11 2008 By Siobhan Synnot

NATALIE PORTMAN has vowed never to marry because she doesn't need a piece of paper to prove her love.

The Star Wars actress, who's dating fashion designer Nathan Bogle, has no intention of walking down the aisle.

Natalie, 26, also reckons the legal aspects in America are unfair because gay couples don't have the same rights.

"I'm into monogamy. But I'm not really into marriage," says Natalie.

"I hate the legal aspect - what does the state have to do with it?

"Why are they making rules that say my lover can stay in the USA if they're foreign or share my health care benefits because I'm straight - but if you're gay you can't?"

It's another principled stand by an actress keen to make a difference.

She first burst on to the screen in 1994's action thriller Leon. Natalie played a Lolita-style sidekick to a professional assassin.

The film was relatively innocent - but the leering attention she got was far more uncomfortable for Natalie.

She says: "I was reading reviews that discussed my development. It was incredibly upsetting for a 13-year-old to have men talking about me like that.

"It scared me so much that it dictated many of my choices afterwards."

The creepy fan mail that followed also disturbed her.

She says: "I was a kid, excited about being famous then you read some fan letter and it's terrifying.

"It made me reluctant to do overtly sexy stuff for a long time."

For the record, I don't like girls that look like teenage boys because of gay/pedophile reasons. I think cuteness, a more slender figure, and short hair (when done right) can be attractive on a girl.

I would rather explain my preferences on chicks by posting pictures of all the different looks that appeal to me the most but I don not have any pictures.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON snubbed the premiere of WOODY ALLEN's latest movie VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA at the Cannes International Film Festival after movies bosses reportedly refused to cater to her diva demands.
The blonde beauty - who stars in the new movie alongside Penelope Cruz - was expected to grace the red carpet at the French festival on Saturday (17May08), but missed the prestigious premiere amid rumours movie bosses at the French arm of Warner Bros Films - the production's distributors - reportedly denied her extravagant hospitality expectations.
According to British newspaper the Daily Mail, the Lost In Translation star made a string of demands to ensure her appearance at the renowned festival - including a $8,000 (GBP4,000) a day make-up artist.
Reports also suggest Johansson was unwilling to stay at a luxurious central Cannes hotel with director Allen and co-star Penelope Cruz, preferring a suite at a hotel 30 miles away.
A source tells the publication, "While Woody's terribly fond of Scarlett, he was a little upset that she wasn't being a team player."
Johansson's male-star, Spanish Oscar-winner Javier Bardem, also missed the movie's Cannes premiere on Saturday, citing personal family reasons for his non-appearance.
