the boyfriend and i were invited to a party by one of my gay friends this weekend and we decided to make some food for the party; we brought sausage and peppers in a crockpot & bakery rolls. when we arrive before anyone else, the house is really in a disgusting state, not a clean surface in the entire kitchen, no a single usable piece of silverware. the boyfriend and i help clean up the table just so we have a place to put the food and we hide stacks of dishes in the basement.

but hey, surprise! no one is hungry, because it is a party featuring cocaine.

and this was just the beginning of the worst party ever attended.

i'm sorry, yuck ;( grease and cocaine, what a party!

if you're gonna do coke at least be OCD and keep things clean.

this party was hosted by one half of the gay couple who were married last year and subsequently split; his new boyfriend is just a terrible disgusting cunt who has obviously reintroduced him to the glam world of coke and who has lots of scary queer friends (the aforementioned "madonna: fierce at 50" fags). and who, at the party said something to seriously upset my boyfriend, which required damage control. sigh.

oh my lord, there was this one guy with a bleached frizzed out mop and a puffy vest and emaciated arms who came in and was like "oh hi, hello, i love you" in a squeaky lisp and who cornered and harrassed me to direct the laptop i was using to pull up a youtube clip of him sexydancing in 1996 or something. i could literally NOT believe this dude was for real, i still kinda think he was on some masterful straight-face andy kaufman character shit. like, NO ONE is that gay.

conclusion: my list of gay friends in town requires some editing. these are not the queers i want to hang with.

seriously though it's not even the coke part, it's the attitude. i'm so over the too-cool-for-school attitude, which is all over the NYC scene. yuck

My experience with coke was an interesting mix of hyper-cool and scuzzy. The hyper-cool often could be mixed up w/ the scuzzy. This period of my life took place in Greensboro, NC, so that at least partially accounts for the mix. Really though? Most of the cokeheads, however "in" or cool they were, were wastes of space.

I like coke, but I hate myself and others on coke. I feel gross just thinking about that time.

What really bugged me was meeting someone who was interesting and fun to be around, but then seeing them on drugs. Coke was the most popular, but then there was plenty of crystal, GHB, Ketamine, and E, all of which did not improve anyone.

it's something about looking for empowerment in the drugs, and then getting all manic. or something like that.

What is it about drugs that makes decent people act so shady?

it's like an emotion thing... you don't really like your emotions, so you do drugs, then the emotions are just kind of stun-gunned, and you get all crazy. haha you'll only get the most scientific explanations from me!

not having a scene = I haven't even laid eyes on any of these drugs in years.

I was there being thrifty, trying to get my total to reach $50 (but still be light enough to carry home!) and I had a number in my head, so I was all distracted, besides being nervous and keyed up. So I walked up to the milk he was straightening up and browsed and asked "how's it going," then asked him if he was working late. He barely said anything, so I said, "OK well maybe see you around." Then I came back w/ my number while he was straightening some OJ.

He was cute (though too tall) - blond short hair, glasses, white sneakers that suggested that a hip-hop influence.

The milk jokes are too easy.

But whatever the outcome, it's nice to turn a head!

I'm supposed to help my fashion student friend find a song for her end of year collection . It needs to be about three minutes long, sound like it could work at a fashion show but have a melancholy edge because her collection is based on things she found in a old woman's house. So far we have come up with Blonde Redhead-Missle, Junior Boys-Double Shadow and Schneider TM -Light3000. Anybody have any suggestions. She needs something obscure for hipness and something a bit fashioney and slightly strange but catchy/memorable after one listen.

Elmo, that track is a little bit anomalous on the actual album. It's the nod to "Back in the Day"-type Badu. A lot of the rest of the album is a little bit harder-edged and darkly compelling.

I am as unabashedly gay for that album as Ramzi is for all things Mariah.

Quite a few? Not as much as the gay sports bar in Boystown (maybe b/c Boystown shares a border with Wrigleyville?)but still quite a few. The difference is that at the Boystown one they don't ever turn the main TVs from sports, but at the one by my house they show videos and Top Chef and ANTM sometimes.
