Best movie on this list:

Finding Nemo

Movies on this list I liked:

Kill Bill Vol. 1
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
School of Rock

Movies which were okay:

Cradle 2 the Grave
Elf
Freddy vs. Jason
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
X2: X-Men United

Rest of the movies sucked.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:38 (seventeen years ago)

depressing

Tape Store, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:42 (seventeen years ago)

my god this was a bad year for movies

pirates

all the rest sucked, relatively speaking

deeznuts, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:43 (seventeen years ago)

kill bill by far

Jordan, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:46 (seventeen years ago)

I've seen four? School of Rock, Kill Bill, Elf, and Pirates of the Caribbean. So yeah, Kill Bill gets my vote.

jaymc, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

I just remembered that Bad Boys 2 is responsible for "Love Don't Love Me." A+

Tape Store, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

Finding Nemo by probably a greater margin than any other thread in ILX history

The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:48 (seventeen years ago)

Lord of the Rings and X-men were fun at the time, and i liked Hulk when i saw it on tv a couple of years later, but that's it.

Jordan, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:48 (seventeen years ago)

pirates was the only one i remember walking out of smiling

lol didnt see elf, that was hot because it had zooey deschanel singing

otherwise SUUUUUUUUUUCKED

xp x-men 2 was the first & last movie i fell asleep during, & every second of the hulk trailer looked like a fucking joke to me

deeznuts, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:49 (seventeen years ago)

never saw pirates or finding nemo

Jordan, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Just Married
Kangaroo Jack
The Recruit
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Daredevil
Cradle 2 the Grave
Head of State
Phone Booth
Anger Management
Identity
X2: X-Men United
The Matrix Reloaded
Bruce Almighty
Finding Nemo
2 Fast 2 Furious
Hulk
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

Underworld
The Rundown
School of Rock

Seen all these. Full Throttle is the worst, but I hated School of Rock more.

The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Friday, 13 June 2008 21:52 (seventeen years ago)

1st thought: ugh
2nd thought: what the hell is dickie roberts? (a david spade movie apparently)

abanana, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:29 (seventeen years ago)

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
X2: X-Men United
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Once Upon a Time in Mexico

good:
Finding Nemo
Kill Bill Vol. 1

X2: X-Men United
Elf
Phone Booth

bad:
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

School of Rock
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

awful:
The Matrix Revolutions
Identity

abanana, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:33 (seventeen years ago)

I had high hopes for Pirates of the Caribbean, because I thought it'd just be Johnny Depp prancing around and making jokes, but the movie was overlong and tedious and all the CGI and action sequences reminded me why I don't usually like big summer blockbusters.

jaymc, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:34 (seventeen years ago)

Kangaroo Jack had jokes for two-year-olds, jokes for 12-year-olds, and jokes for adults. Michael Shannon (of Bug et al) as a gangster was funny to me.

Eazy, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:36 (seventeen years ago)

That said, Kill Bill.

Eazy, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:36 (seventeen years ago)

so many parts two!

s1ocki, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:36 (seventeen years ago)

movies here i liked and would probably still like:

Finding Nemo
The Rundown
School of Rock
Kill Bill Vol. 1
Elf

s1ocki, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:38 (seventeen years ago)

God damn it, what movies have I liked this year? As I posted on another thread, The Italian Job, Pirates of the Caribbean, SWAT and Freaky Friday I seemed to enjoy than any other other movies this summer, which I never would have ever EVER predicted.

-- s1utsky (slutsky), Friday, October 10, 2003 4:09 AM (4 years ago) Bookmark Link

where are these movies?? (besides POTC)

italian job didn't... chart?

s1ocki, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:39 (seventeen years ago)

Is this a good year for movies?

s1ocki, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:40 (seventeen years ago)

dude slocki have you seen seen black pearl or are you just judging it based on its sequels

deeznuts, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:41 (seventeen years ago)

nemo's cute and x2 was a lot better than x1. but i actually pretty much loved full throttle.

tipsy mothra, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:44 (seventeen years ago)

Wait is that the first Pirates' movie or the second?

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:46 (seventeen years ago)

I liked the first one so that should go in the I liked list.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:47 (seventeen years ago)

2 Fast 2 Furious
Hulk
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Bad Boys II
Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over
American Wedding
S.W.A.T.
Freddy vs. Jason
Jeepers Creepers 2
Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star
Once Upon a Time in Mexico

My god, this is like the sequence of presidents between Lincoln and Roosevelt.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 13 June 2008 22:58 (seventeen years ago)

alex black pearl was the first one (& a genuine classic)

deeznuts, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:00 (seventeen years ago)

lol CONTROVERSIAL VOTE from me

HI DERE, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

i liked the first pirates movie!

wait.. oh yeah... that was black pearl. sorry for some reason i assumed that was pt 2

s1ocki, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:03 (seventeen years ago)

Me too. I forgot they all had that second title thing.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:05 (seventeen years ago)

got to go elf, these are mostly bullshit.

banriquit, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)

kill bill and it really isnt even close

J0rdan S., Friday, 13 June 2008 23:47 (seventeen years ago)

lol I am still the only person on ILX who enjoyed "Identity"

HI DERE, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:49 (seventeen years ago)

kill bill vol 1 < black pearl but those are the only 2 worth seeing

HD: YES

deeznuts, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)

I still think of Identity as the fake movie the brother in Adaptation is writing.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)

OUTINM is worth seeing for Johnny Depp's perf. alone.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)

phone booth is pretty cool to watch if you randomly come across it on cable

J0rdan S., Friday, 13 June 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

I feel like if I listed all of the movies on this list that I enjoyed, I would be crowned Dude With The Worst Fucking Taste In Movies Oh My Fucking God

HI DERE, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:55 (seventeen years ago)

If one of those movies was the Recruit then the answer is yes.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:56 (seventeen years ago)

Or Anger Management.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:56 (seventeen years ago)

if there are more than 5 then the answer is yes

deeznuts, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:59 (seventeen years ago)

Hey I listed ten above that I liked already!

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:59 (seventeen years ago)

Well that I liked or thought were okay actually.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:59 (seventeen years ago)

OUTINM is worth seeing for Johnny Depp's perf. alone.

jessica biel does the whole movie sweaty in a wife beater fwiw

J0rdan S., Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:02 (seventeen years ago)

Once Upon A Time in Mexico by someone who is bad at acronyms haha.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:02 (seventeen years ago)

anger mangement is very, very, very bad

aw is a victim of the same standards that has alex confusing 'this movie was...okay' with 'i liked it!'

deeznuts, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:03 (seventeen years ago)

haha even I knew enough to stay away from Anger Management and The Recruit!

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Head of State
Identity
X2: X-Men United
The Matrix Reloaded
Finding Nemo
Hulk
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Bad Boys II
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Underworld
The Rundown
School of Rock
Kill Bill Vol. 1
Something's Gotta Give
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

HI DERE, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:04 (seventeen years ago)

Something's Gotta Give

ok wtf

i watched this on a plane & it made me like physically ill

and what, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:05 (seventeen years ago)

Head of State

is this the one with chris rock?

Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Bad Boys II

these are fun movies and you're getting into challops territory if you're really hating on them

J0rdan S., Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:06 (seventeen years ago)

or is it a challop to ride for charlie's angels? i cant even keep track anymore

J0rdan S., Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:07 (seventeen years ago)

bad boys 2 is pretty disgusting.... actually walked out of that one (we had snuck in so we just went to anotehr movie but still)

and what, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

Is that the Charlie's Angels sequel? That was so not good.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

re: "Something's Gotta Give", I think I was feeling very maudlin the night I watched it but I enjoyed it.

re: "Head of State", yes that's the Chris Rock movie, plus I think it would be called a challop to defend Charlie's Angels 2 but DAMN DEMI

HI DERE, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

btw nobodys mentioned jeepers creepers 2 but i thought it was good

and what, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

Haven't seen Bad Boys II or the Rundown actually.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

Or Jeepers Creepers 2.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

re: "Bad Boys 2", I thought it was tons and tons of stupid no-brain fun

HI DERE, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:09 (seventeen years ago)

Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over
American Wedding
Jeepers Creepers 2

^^^ i saw these 3 in the theater that summer & dug them all to various degrees.... american wedding is a minor classic 'round the and what household

and what, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:09 (seventeen years ago)

I never got around to seeing AW!

HI DERE, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:09 (seventeen years ago)

caught freddy vs jason on tv a couple months back & lolled the whole way thru, 100000x more fun than any freddy or jason movie i ever saw before it

and what, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:09 (seventeen years ago)

Spy Kids 3-D gave me a headache. I like the first two so it's possible that the 3-D just got to me.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:10 (seventeen years ago)

I think I liked School of Rock better than Finding Nemo

A B C, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:11 (seventeen years ago)

btw nobodys mentioned jeepers creepers 2 but i thought it was good

the first jeepers creepers is a stone cold classic

J0rdan S., Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:12 (seventeen years ago)

But then again, I guess I paid $9 to see Bringing Down the House

A B C, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:12 (seventeen years ago)

i actually had to see spy kids 2 on a field trip for a camp i was a counselor at so i felt kinda gypped when vers 3 turned out to be in 3D

J0rdan S., Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:13 (seventeen years ago)

They played the trailer for Freddy vs Jason when I went to see Matrix Reloaded and the theater applauded at the end

A B C, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:13 (seventeen years ago)

I think it would be called a challop to defend Charlie's Angels 2 but DAMN DEMI

my favorite demi role. and i like the jaclyn smith cameo.

tipsy mothra, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:13 (seventeen years ago)

pirates.

i can't believe that i've seen all but 10 of these. wait it's prob more like 12 because i fell asleep while watching Underworld and the Last Samurai.

Roz, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:15 (seventeen years ago)

i think school of rock is pretty funny, i don't get dom's hate of it

remy bean, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:15 (seventeen years ago)

school of rock is the only tolerable jack black movie.

Roz, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:18 (seventeen years ago)

school of rock is the only tolerable jack black movie.

^^^. The rockist subtext makes me cringe, but it's so likeable.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:19 (seventeen years ago)

yeah i hated on it before i saw it but its pretty good

and what, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:19 (seventeen years ago)

jack black is a great cameo actor imo but as a lead he is so insufferable

J0rdan S., Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:20 (seventeen years ago)

what's the lotr movie where the dude is like "wut's taters" that shit crax me up so i vote for that

cankles, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:20 (seventeen years ago)

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/p.blackman/potatoes.gif

and what, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:21 (seventeen years ago)

lol that's the first one right? not on the list.

Roz, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:23 (seventeen years ago)

2nd, I think.

HI DERE, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:28 (seventeen years ago)

Nemo. Most of these films are dreadful. Though I watched the LOTR films again recently and they're still completely magnificent if you turn off your bullshit detector and get into the spirit of them.

xpost - no, it's Two Towers

chap, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:28 (seventeen years ago)

ah they're all starting to blend into each other. The LOTR films were great when I saw them, I just can't see myself actively wanting to sit through them again.

Roz, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:36 (seventeen years ago)

Kangaroo Jack has my FAVVORITE tagline of all time:

He stole the money... and he's not giving it back.

Abbott, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:37 (seventeen years ago)

i might have taken two separate naps during ang lee's 'Hulk'. fuck you norton i better see nonstop pcp mayhem. t3 is an ok piss drunk movie

tremendoid, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:38 (seventeen years ago)

lotr trilogy felt like torture. i think phantom menace put the nail in popcorn epics. even that golden compass was missing something, though it's several notches above the aforementioned

tremendoid, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:40 (seventeen years ago)

Factual errors: Kangaroos can not walk backwards.

Abbott, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:40 (seventeen years ago)

Louis: The kangaroo got the money!
Charlie: What are you talking about?
Louis: I put the money in the jacket, and the jacket on the kangaroo, and now he's hopping away!

Abbott, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:41 (seventeen years ago)

...and he's not giving it back!

and what, Saturday, 14 June 2008 01:00 (seventeen years ago)

I need to see Bad Boys II - Hot Fuzz makes it look like the best movie ever

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days - I'm kind of fond of Kate Hudson comedies
Phone Booth - dull
Identity - would have liked this more if I hadn't been spoiled by a review (which pictured John Cusack in the restraint chair)
X2: X-Men United - the X-Men movies are awful
The Matrix Reloaded - wow, this dragged on into 2003?
Bruce Almighty - bad, Evan Almighty was aight though
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl - good
Once Upon a Time in Mexico - worth seeing for Depp, yeah
Underworld - worth seeing for Beckinsale in leather
School of Rock - "Edge of Seventeen" yay
Kill Bill Vol. 1 - clear winner
The Matrix Revolutions - see Matrix Reloaded
Elf - even Zooey Deschanel and Bob Newhart can't make this watchable

milo z, Saturday, 14 June 2008 01:38 (seventeen years ago)

I saw X-2 in a car across the river from a drive-in theater, where we couldn't pick up sound. We made out through most of it. It was a pretty good movie under those circumstances. IIRC somebody had blue skin.

(This statement is free to use on any DVD or poster blurbs.)

Abbott, Saturday, 14 June 2008 01:56 (seventeen years ago)

bad boys 2 is fuckin' horrible... i hated it so much. totally disgusted me too. god that movie made me sick!

s1ocki, Saturday, 14 June 2008 03:02 (seventeen years ago)

haha i just remembered i reviewed something's gotta give. so weird to read old reviews. http://www.montrealmirror.com/ARCHIVES/2003/121103/film3.html

s1ocki, Saturday, 14 June 2008 03:02 (seventeen years ago)

s1ocki, Saturday, 14 June 2008 03:03 (seventeen years ago)

Where's Gigli? Surely some mistake!

JTS, Sunday, 15 June 2008 23:54 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

Darkness Falls
The Matrix Reloaded
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Matrix Revolutions

out of what i've seen, these are the worst on the list. i'd vote for finding nemo or lotr i guess.

omar little, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

i wish once upon a time in mexico had been good, or at least sorta

s1ocki, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 23:13 (seventeen years ago)

if RR gave a shit and spent some time making it maybe it would have

omar little, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 23:16 (seventeen years ago)

I think it is good or again at least the Johnny Depp parts, which are the only parts I actually recall, are.

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 23:17 (seventeen years ago)

I went for Elf, but it's a terrible list.

Alba, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 23:18 (seventeen years ago)

all i can remember about once upon a is the disappointment.

s1ocki, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 23:21 (seventeen years ago)

man I have seen way too many of these

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Recruit
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Daredevil
Phone Booth
Anger Management
Identity
X2: X-Men United
The Matrix Reloaded
Finding Nemo
2 Fast 2 Furious
Hulk
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Bad Boys II
American Wedding
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
Underworld
The Rundown
School of Rock
Kill Bill Vol. 1
The Matrix Revolutions
Elf
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

I voted Pirates. The Rundown is the most underappreciated on this list, though

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 23:29 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

how the fuck does elf tie POTC

deeznuts, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:02 (seventeen years ago)

How the hell does LOTSFR get 9 votes is the better question.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:03 (seventeen years ago)

well i figured something like that was a given cuz there are tons of LOTR nerds, but yeah those + elf + finding nemo = 19 votes i will never understand

deeznuts, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:06 (seventeen years ago)

Well I voted Finding Nemo so apparently I am one of those you will NEVER understand!

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

well thats better than elf, at least

basically of the ones voted for if its not kill bill or pirates i will never understand

deeznuts, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:09 (seventeen years ago)

I can't explain it to you. I just like sappy movies about fishies with deformed fins.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:10 (seventeen years ago)

Elf is a funny, sweet Christmas film. I assume that if you don't like it yo're some kind of idiot.

Alba, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:42 (seventeen years ago)

What is good about Pirates Of The Carribean, by the way? I haven't seen it but everything I know about it makes me fall asleep.

Alba, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:44 (seventeen years ago)

POTC is funny, action packed Pirate film (with Johnny Depp!) I assume that if you don't like that you are also some kind of idiot.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

It's better than Elf. Neither is better than Finding Nemo.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

I don't think I have any interest in action-packed pirate films. Well, maybe if they're funny but the clips I've seen involve Johnny Depp dressed up as a pirate not being funny and it's a shame because I like Johnny Depp.

I think I would like Finding Nemo.

Alba, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:49 (seventeen years ago)

x2 is the most underrated on this poll

M@tt He1ges0n, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)

it got a vote, though. sad result for The Rundown, I should have voted for that instead of Pirates.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 26 June 2008 00:17 (seventeen years ago)

"Identity 1"

Hehehe

x2 is a bit of a shambles. finding nemo is great. potc was lots of fun, i mean even then i think everyone saw the flaws that made 2 & 3 so tedious but it was fresh then and i dug it.

OF the ones that got votes, these are at least defensible trash:

Phone Booth
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
Jeepers Creepers 2

T3 deserved a bit better

liked X2 a bit more than the first one - mainly because of Nightcrawler I guess, plus the academy takedown scene
