all cats look like this to me; little cunts

czn, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 18:19 (seventeen years ago)

My name is Chase. I am 2 years and 3 months old. When I was 3-6 weeks old, in June 2005, I was hit by a car and left in the road. A young man heard my cries after a few days and came to my rescue. He brought me to the Chevy Chase Animal Clinic and gave the doctors some money to do what they could for me and hopefully find me a home. A new vet tech, Melissa, was working there. The doctors informed her she would get to care for me. She took me in and would take me home at night and on weekends to give me extra care that I needed while I recovered. I ended up having a back leg amputated and over the summer my nose and, eyelids, and skin from my face sloughed off from the trauma of the accident. The wonderful doctors sent me and Melissa to the University of Tenn Vet Hospital for 2 rounds of plastic surgery. Unfortunately neither attempt was successful. I would have to live looking different than my other kitty friends. I adjusted fast and even though I don't have eyelids I can still sleep just fine but I prefer to go to a dark room or under the bed. My caretaker, Melissa, ended up switching jobs and then relocating to a different state. I happily have become her "baby" and she takes care of me still to this day as a member of her family. I need a bit of special attention to keep my eyes in good shape. I get artificial tears applied to them 3-4 times daily, as well as antibiotic drops and steroid drops as needed. I have GREAT vision and love to catch flies and crickets! My face looks pink but it is just tissue and the fur will never grow back. I am NOT IN ANY PAIN! I am a very loving and friendly cat. I love to meet new dogs and cats and really like to lick them. This got me in trouble when I was a clinic cat at the vet's office. Not all the dogs wanted to meet me. But often I would curl up with the sick animals in their cages and keep them company.
This is just an introduction to me and my family. I will try to keep you posted in my daily obsticles and fun filled days as often as possible.
Love and Meows,
Chase the cat

Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 18:20 (seventeen years ago)

hideous as this cat is, he seems to be doing pretty well. good for him!

latebloomer, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 18:21 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, I was just going to say it probably has no idea it's different - cats (and other animals) have amazing adaptive abilities like that. A collegue of mine has a cat that lost a leg after getting stuck in a (probably) trap somewhere and it's still faster than their dog :-)

StanM, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

yes, he's kinda an example to us all tbh

czn, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)

Oh fuck. This is horrible. Thanks a lot.

A leg is one thing but this cat is missing a face!!!

ENBB, Tuesday, 24 June 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)

Seems like a pretty happy animal and the owner seems REALLY taken with it. I like the fact that she does therapy with disfigured people with Chase to do the whole "I can get along and so can you!" schtick. I'm just amazed that she spent what must have been thousands of dollars of plastic surgery on the cat.

"WELL HEY MR CHASE NO FACE NO FACE CHASE FACE NO FACE FACE FACE RACE FACE CHASE. No, really, have a nice day, HA HA HA. You're a good person."

"Hey, howzit going? Nice cage you're in here. Just stopping by to say hi. Oh, don't mind me, yeah, I got no face and my eyes bug out constantly. Mind some company for a bit? I'll just lick on ya for a bit."

A leg is one thing but this cat is missing a face!!!

It can see with both eyes, it can smell, it can hear with both ears, it can bite and eat and taste, I don't think it has lost any functionality, only aesthetics. A leg = pretty important, functionally, I'd guess.

Also, I had several graduate algebra courses from a guy who lost his face. He was kinda repulsive too, but a fantastic teacher.

no eyelids means inability to blink which must cause discomfort = I am IN FACT IN A PAIN OF SOME SORT U STUPID BITHC

am0n, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 03:11 (seventeen years ago)

ugh reminds me of a story i saw in the news about some kids who superglued a cats eyes shut. the eyes got infected and huge and they had to cut the eyelids off and they showed the cat on the news, it looked sorta like this one does.

so anyway the kids all got the death penalty. ok, no they didn't, but they should have.

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 03:13 (seventeen years ago)

the other thing is that exposed nose must be terribly prone to infection. but then i guess that's why she dunks the cat's head in antiobiotic salve four or five times a day?

Gott in Himmel, I was already scheduled to start volunteering at the cattery of the local humane society come next week, and I do not think I'd be able to handle this.

Fuck me, I can't handle it _now_...

For a refresher, here's the local kitten cam where i'll be volunteering; they'll probably be napping when you click it, but it's fun to check in every once in a while.

It's best to look at the st. Patrick's day picture one. It's stunning.

Piglet with monkey's face

Curious locals flocked to the home of owner Feng Changlin after news of the piglet spread in Fengzhang village, Xiping township. "It's hideous. No one will be willing to buy it, and it scares the family to even look at it!" Feng told Oriental Today. He says the piglet looks just like a monkey, with two thin lips, a small nose and two big eyes. Its rear legs are also much longer than its forelegs, causing it to jump instead of walk. Feng's wife said the monkey-faced piglet was one of five newborns of a sow which the family had raised for nine years.

"My God, it was so scary. I didn't known what it was. I was really frightened," she said. "But our son likes to play with it, and he stopped us from getting rid of it. He even feeds it milk."

Neighbours have suggested the couple keep the piglet to see how it looks as it matures.

Talent: Never lost a staring contest
Horrifying, yeah (Chase, I mean), but she makes me more sad than grossed-out. Sad in an empathetic way, like I want to hold her and pet her and make the no-face situation be okay.

The Telegraph reports: Unwilling to accept a blood transfusion, Jose Mestre has allowed the bloody tumor that first appeared on his lip in adolescence to obliterate almost all of his face. But now one of Britain's leading facial surgeons has proposed treating Jose, 51, by employing ultrasound waves to coagulate the blood before the operation. This should allow his growths to be removed without risk of heavy bleeding - satisfying his religious prohibition on blood transfusions that has so far hampered his search for treatment.
