So apparently there's a new season of PR starting next Wednesday but they haven't released any info on the cast at all so I can't make any TOTALLY OFF THE MARK predictions.
Who's excited? I kind of don't care TBH.
― The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)
SO EXCITED
i had no idea when it was gonna start again.
― Surmounter, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 23:55 (seventeen years ago)
I don't care now, but I'm sure I'll be obsessed a month from now.
― polyphonic, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 23:56 (seventeen years ago)
i thought I heard this wasn't going to be on bravo anymore and was moving to A&E or some shit?
― akm, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 00:13 (seventeen years ago)
ok i heard it was gonna be on lifetime but now i have no fucking clue
― Surmounter, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 00:14 (seventeen years ago)
This is the last season before it moves to Lifetime.
― Super Cub, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 00:20 (seventeen years ago)
super cub with the hard facts
thanx for allaying my confusion!
― Surmounter, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 00:23 (seventeen years ago)
i have no information on this
― Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 01:35 (seventeen years ago)
I heard some of the dudes are gay.
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 01:55 (seventeen years ago)
it's kind of weird that they don't have teaser info up like profiles and such. Usually that stuff is up on the website weeks before the season debut. The whole thing seems rushed and half-assed - like a last ditch effort to squeeze some more profit from the franchise before it goes to a different network. Doesn't bode well.
― Super Cub, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 02:43 (seventeen years ago)
i thought the same way, but after finding out that Lifetime PR is moving to LA i don't care how shitty this season is because one more "real" season is preferable to any number of seasons of the neutered version that'll be on lifetime
― Keaney Tong, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 06:05 (seventeen years ago)
guys this aired tonight; they're rerunning it right now! i had no idea...
― horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:16 (seventeen years ago)
so excited
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:16 (seventeen years ago)
like, half of everyone picked tablecloths for the first season supermarket challenge. these people are kind of feeble. tim gunn just told them off.
Kelli is my early favorite.
― horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:28 (seventeen years ago)
the guy who got kicked off, his outfit was better than the leather girl's. just sayin.
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:32 (seventeen years ago)
he shoulda just left out the rubber gloves. the dress underneath was cute! and the coat wasn't even that bad. it was like, evil nurse trolls for sex. which i mean come on, that can work, as a look.
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:56 (seventeen years ago)
no, that coat was hideous. he sucked.
yay, Kelli won! i am feeling a little lukewarm about the season, though.
― horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 04:01 (seventeen years ago)
the coat wasn't as hideous as that thing the other chick tried to call an attempt.
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 04:02 (seventeen years ago)
they both sucked but that dude deserved to go. it was all just so wrong everywhere. the coat didn't fit, the dress was amateurish at best, the gloves signaled a really bad idea of what is "edgy" and unique. also he thought it was the shit where at least the goth chick was like "i was a tard for picking trash bags and this thing is gonna blow". (btw was she referring to her dress as "trash" and "garbage" on purpose? cuz i dont think so. she kept saying "my fabric is trash!" but she was like dead serious. it was v weird.)
i thought cup dude should've won but i wasn't really mad at the girl winning even tho the coffee filters over the tits was not a good look (looked like she should've been serving hours devours on those things). cup dude is def this season's christian except his confidence is v silent also he is kind of boring.
also lol @ the dude who looks like tuomas
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 06:49 (seventeen years ago)
this dude is def my favorite. looooooooooooool @ this pic http://www.bravotv.com/widgets/bin/gallery/cache/eaf324955f72d22f7b01e315378194af/watermark/wat_they_wore_jerell_501.jpg

my fave PR contestant ever was gillian(?) - the girl in lst yrs final. her clothes were great; she dressed the best too
― czn, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:12 (seventeen years ago)
otm
would've kicked it w/ her
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:12 (seventeen years ago)
really? she was kind of boring
― The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:15 (seventeen years ago)
personality wise.
― The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:16 (seventeen years ago)
me and Zulema from season 2 would be cool
and Santino
I like big personalities
― The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:17 (seventeen years ago)
ya zulema was rad
jillian seemed really chill to me, kinda my speed
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:17 (seventeen years ago)
haha how do you feel about SUEDE and the dude with the awful fake tan who made that awful lingerie thing

― The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:20 (seventeen years ago)
yeah I dunno what is up with Suede.. what is with his hair? He is totally blah.
― The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:21 (seventeen years ago)
and what is with that dude who's addicted to tanning? "holla at ya boy?" oh lord...
ya the first one you listed was way underrated-- i guess they lumped it in w/ the "really good but used real fabric" bunch
i missed the beginning of the ep. did he say why he calls himself suede?
ya that dude is a wreck. he's gonna stick around for a bit on the virtue of making awful shit that is just vaguely interesting enough to not be worse than someone who did something poorly made and boring

― czn, Thursday, 17 July 2008 10:01 (seventeen years ago)
the coffee filters over the tits were NOT great but the skirt part was A+++. i did love the girl with the red lipstick's outfit posted above tho -- red top w/ blue asymmetrical skirt. should've won :/
i actually really liked the bodice piece of tanning guy's outfit, but the diaper part looked absolute crap.
and as for the cup guy, he's cute. but i wouldn't go so far as to say he's this season's christian (thank goodness). and i don't find his quiet confidence boring.
the hottest guy on the show may very well be that adorable prep with the slight schnoz who arrived in shorts and the longsleeve button down. i'd KICK IT.
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 13:11 (seventeen years ago)
yeah that adorable preppy dude is adorable.
― horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)
let it be known that Keith Bryce is the absolute hottest-looking man ever to have graced the program, and for this reason I hope he stays a very long time.
― Stevie D, Thursday, 17 July 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)
guh, kind of slow start no?
Tanning dude freaks me out and he seems like someone who has really shit taste but thinks that makes him "edgy".
xp which one's Keith?
― Roz, Thursday, 17 July 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)
Keith's the really cute one with the buzz cut and beard who does "urban" stuff that they only gave like 30 seconds of the entire show to. Tanning dude is trying waaaaaaayyyy too hard to be the new Christian.

lol u should try and date tuomas
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)
the cup guy deserved to win more than the coffee filter girl -- that top was an abomination against god and all that is holy. the bottom was fucking awesome but jesus christ that top was the ugliest thing that anyone came up with this episode. including punk rock gramma and girlicious.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)
keith is hottt. shirtless.
the thing with tanning dude is he might come up with something amazing. seems like a hit or miss kind of guy maybe?
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)
the bottom was fucking awesome but jesus christ that top was the ugliest thing that anyone came up with this episode.
ya seriously. shit was inexcusable.

coffee filters would be better as a skirt, something poofy
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)
the tanning dude is this season's kayne. he may win a challenge that is tailored to ridiculous and ugly flamboyant shit and he'll skirt by on the normal challenges as the boring designers fall by the wayside but once he gets to the final 5-6 he's gonna fall apart
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)
yes WESLEY
that thing girlicious made was so wtf.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)
ugh yeah "girlicious"? please.
oh Keith is the guy with the tats. Yeah he's pretty hot but I like Jerome, dude Jordan posted.
xp lol he does kind of look like a beefier Tuomas.
― Roz, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)
HOLY SHIT
Blayne began his fashion career right out of high school when he moved to attend the Art Institute of Seattle. Upon graduating AIS, he was approached by Seattle Seahawks' running back Shaun Alexander to design an up-and-coming athletic line. He continues to build his name by selling his creations in local boutiques and throwing fashion shows. Blayne was also named Seattle's "Most Stylish Male" by a panel of judges
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:07 (seventeen years ago)
^^that is girlicious dude
ya jerome is cute and funny -- i love when he counseled punk chick and was all "you're 1 of the 16, you better start drapin some garbage bags now"

http://www.bravotv.com/widgets/bin/gallery/cache/4b9789d611e56ec7e415db743a5ba149/watermark/rate_runway_11_501.jpg this thing was totally awesome and i look forward to seeing more of this lady.
still think blue cup guy was robbed, dude sat there meticulously melting plastic cups to make a dress! it reminded me, though, of those dolls they used to have in the 80s, they were kind of flat and you could pop clothes on and off them...? does anyone remember these?

― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:37 (seventeen years ago)
i agree, and yes i remember those! also isn't he the one from brooklyn?? gotta rep.
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:39 (seventeen years ago)
is he the one from bk? i can't even keep any of them straight right now, there's too many of them and it's hard enough to remember all the ppl on shear genius as it is.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:44 (seventeen years ago)
geez i might have to start watching sheer genius
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:45 (seventeen years ago)
haha i saw like 20 mins of that after proj run last night and it seemed kind of good although kind of like an snl parody of bravo reality shows esp the host
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:48 (seventeen years ago)
supermarket challenge is wack imo. i hate that kind of gimmicky junk.
― carne asada, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:56 (seventeen years ago)
ya i was thinking that but it's really the best way to make the early episodes interesting since you dont know anything about the designers or their styles really
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:58 (seventeen years ago)
my gf was watching both these shows last night. imo the winner was totally deserved, i dug the top.
the cup dress was pretty awesome, too.
i'm not sure about the yellow thing, it looked too much like "hey let me just put on this robe and walk into this salad here", but it didn't suck hard like the bottom 3. i get the sense that trash bag lady is gonna stick around for awhile and eke out a few close calls before she gets booted.
nothing to say about shear genius except jaclyn smith seems pretty bored.
― omar little, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:03 (seventeen years ago)
i was hoping to see more from that jerey dude that got the boot. he look intersting.
― carne asada, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:05 (seventeen years ago)
The guy who went home messed up for sure, but no way was his the worst.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)
that Kim Vo on Shear Genius is crepe looking to me. one of the bravo shows i can't get into.
― carne asada, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)
this is company
http://www.formnewyork.com/
the line they display there is like the shitty raincoat he made. buncha ill-fitting and weirdly cut jackets that think they're avant cuz they're cut asymmetrically. also he's got his models in burkas which is right in line with this "edgy" rubber gloves thing
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:09 (seventeen years ago)
this is his company* meaning the dude who went home
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:10 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, but the tan dude should've gone home.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:10 (seventeen years ago)
maybe but it was really obvious that they were going to let him stay on esp in the face of the tablecloth brigade
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:12 (seventeen years ago)
i imagine they only kept him because his was taking "risks"
― omar little, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:12 (seventeen years ago)
but jordan, it is possible to genuinely like ill-fitting clothing, and not just because you think it's the avant position to take. i like some of the stuff on his website!

― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:24 (seventeen years ago)
also it looks retarded
just seems really uninspired to me. i could go out and cut shit at different angle and juxtapose it. aint that creative to me http://www.formnewyork.com/images/FORM02TEXTWEB.jpg http://www.formnewyork.com/images/FORM20TEXTWEB.jpg
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:28 (seventeen years ago)
i'm actually really into bizarre cuts and fits -- i like those outfits a lot! and i don't think that's why he got kicked off -- his execution was just poor. but weird cuts like that are all over the place.
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:31 (seventeen years ago)
well he got kicked off cuz the jacket and dress were awful and the colors were bland
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:32 (seventeen years ago)
it seems like you could say a lot of high fashion stuff looks retarded, if you're not into bizarre shapes and lines like that. which is fine, i'm just sayin :]
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:33 (seventeen years ago)
EPIC FAIL with the fitting up top http://www.bravotv.com/widgets/bin/gallery/cache/4b9789d611e56ec7e415db743a5ba149/watermark/rate_runway_14_501.jpg
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:35 (seventeen years ago)
i do think a lot of high fashion is retarded, but at least lots of it seems inspired. just cutting shit "wrong" isn't that interesting to me
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:36 (seventeen years ago)
god so awful. i agree with everything J0rdan said about this Jerry dude. he also seemed to think he was the shit at the beginning of the episode and it is gratifying that he sucks so bad.
― horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:36 (seventeen years ago)
well obviously his intention with the fitting up top was that it look that way. i mean he didn't just measure the bust wrong ;-)
the dress was cute! and if he had cinched the coat at the waist and below, it would've been ok. but gloves bad.
guys, i think we have to chalk this up to me being right, you being wrong, and that being OK. OK?
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:39 (seventeen years ago)
but really jordan i see what you're saying about his schtick being overly simplistic and high-minded.
― Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:41 (seventeen years ago)
ok if he meant for the top of the jacket to be sagging and folding in on itself than that's worse than just making something poorly cuz you were doing it in a contest which forced you to use a shower curtain
also she does look like a killer nurse. koors was having such a ball zinging him during the judge discussion
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:43 (seventeen years ago)
anyone who is all like "that looks like an axe murderer!" has seen that scene in american psycho one too many times, it just looks like an ugly jacket.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 17 July 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)
I'M TALKING TO YOU, KORS
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 17 July 2008 18:02 (seventeen years ago)
kors seemed like he was trying a little hard to recreate past bitchy glory. it was no "she looks farty," Michael.
― horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 18:03 (seventeen years ago)
i think it's the gloves that lead to the axe murderer comparison more than the jacket itself, the gloves look like someone is prepping for "cleanup"
― omar little, Thursday, 17 July 2008 18:03 (seventeen years ago)
I didn't watch yet (no cable! boo) but I just found this on a blog which I thought was hilarious and needs to be shared:

― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 17 July 2008 18:22 (seventeen years ago)
The winner looks a lot like Bevery D'Angelo.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 17 July 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)
The thing the booted guy designed was straight out Dexter.
The only way that I can stand Tanning Tragedy's continued presence is that I hope I'll be able to watch him slowly become more and more pale. (Also, Christian Siriano has a lot to answer for -- all these wannabe twentysomething divas just have to have some insipid catchphrase they get from a sub-Pussycat Dolls reality show.)
The winning design, the top totally flattened the model's tittage, though if she was the Asian model, maybe there wasn't a lot of there there.
― Leee, Saturday, 19 July 2008 02:49 (seventeen years ago)
I think that that coffee filter bra thing that won the challenge would be more suited to a lacy layer of coffee filters running all over the front of the bodice in a "fish scale" (for lack of better term) sort of way - as it is now it is just too "cartoon boob"ish.
― Finefinemusic, Saturday, 19 July 2008 02:56 (seventeen years ago)
though if she was the Asian model, maybe there wasn't a lot of there there
right, cus models of other ethnicities are always stacked
― Super Cub, Saturday, 19 July 2008 02:59 (seventeen years ago)
ha, that was the first thing i thought too. my wife thought that garbage bag girl should have gone home, but it was more like she got the short shaft. she should have checked her bags before she bought them but it seemed like an honest problem. she didn't purposefully pick out crap and make something ugly with it.
girlicious guy keeps sniffing.
― akm, Saturday, 19 July 2008 15:51 (seventeen years ago)
also, on the whole, it seems to me that the designers this year have more experience than those in the past, are already more successful than anyone else they've ever had, is this right? even dude who got eliminated at least claimed to be already pretty successful
― akm, Saturday, 19 July 2008 15:54 (seventeen years ago)
Lots of folks from last season had good backgrounds. I don't think this is a better group than last year's, but potentially is more diverse in styles.

I expected stella to be all defensive and weak, but she handled Blayne making fun of her leather thing surprisingly well.
― Maria :D, Thursday, 24 July 2008 22:02 (seventeen years ago)
stella is doomed though. im a little surprised she got on the show actually
suede is terrible. we are going to have to endure the pointing-at-the-camera "suede rocked it!" for far too many weeks.
tanarexia bro reminds me of pauly shore

oh dear leanne
― admrl, Thursday, 24 July 2008 22:11 (seventeen years ago)
i want a to watch a cross over show with all the models not a topmodel thing though. i pictute them just all living in an apt and competing in drinking games for money.

― Alex in SF, Thursday, 24 July 2008 22:26 (seventeen years ago)
I'm not talking about the dresses.
― admrl, Thursday, 24 July 2008 22:27 (seventeen years ago)
Haha what did she do? I had it on in the background. Did I miss something crucial? She cries at the end, right?
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 24 July 2008 22:30 (seventeen years ago)
cat power's dress was fugly.
― Maria :D, Thursday, 24 July 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)
i can't believe suede actually one for that mess.

kensley robbed 2 weeks ina row
wesley is way too skinny in that pic
― The Brainwasher, Thursday, 24 July 2008 23:56 (seventeen years ago)
wow i'm glad he's gone. if i had to keep looking at him in his boxers i would go a little crazy.
suede did so well!! i really liked that. but kensley or wtf her name is, that was gorgeous too.
BUT personally, i loved fucking blayne's 80s pink and black thing. hottt.
― Surmounter, Friday, 25 July 2008 02:02 (seventeen years ago)
ugh all the brown satin looks sucked :/

― Surmounter, Friday, 25 July 2008 02:25 (seventeen years ago)
the fabric is really a war crime
does anyone remember the other fabric that wes got? was it that bad mint green or was that someone else?
― J0rdan S., Friday, 25 July 2008 02:26 (seventeen years ago)
http://www.bravotv.com/widgets/bin/gallery/cache/dd65fe5777d7c256a1fef8048718751e/watermark/rate_runway_01_502.jpg my favorite, obviously
― Surmounter, Friday, 25 July 2008 02:28 (seventeen years ago)
wesley's other fabric was the mint green
ugh ramzi
i dont blame them for not crucifying her for her style, but one long sleeve laced-up is like the most hideous thing ive ever seen
blayne's looks better there than on the show where the pink looked way harsher. that thing over her arm is nice but the black patch is a little "..." imo

look you can see it in her eyes
― Surmounter, Friday, 25 July 2008 02:55 (seventeen years ago)
the trim is o_O but i think it was cool that he didn't ditch these feathers that his model was really pumped about, which i feel like a few of the more rigid/"THIS IS MY VISION AND THE JUDGES WILL KNOW WHO I AM A DESIGNER" designers would've done
― J0rdan S., Friday, 25 July 2008 02:56 (seventeen years ago)
yeah like why did stella think it was OK to scrap what her model wanted? even tho she ended up liking it
― Surmounter, Friday, 25 July 2008 02:57 (seventeen years ago)
^^b/c stella has no idea how to make something that is not form-fitting & wearable on a motorcycle. the models (at least the ones that arent completely oblivious) are always gonna support the designer & say they like it

the girl who looks like a cute rabbit.
johnny you're right but i still loved her dress.
― Surmounter, Friday, 25 July 2008 12:26 (seventeen years ago)
that was the second lowest scoring outfit and almost got her eliminated. it needed to do less, i think; the asymmetry was unnecessary
― akm, Friday, 25 July 2008 13:36 (seventeen years ago)
the 2nd lowest scoring? where's that from? how can that be with the brown satins and the fins dress?
i liked the asymmetry -- but the outfit was too stella. like i saw it in leather outside a bar.
― Surmounter, Friday, 25 July 2008 13:39 (seventeen years ago)
they mean the brown thing w/ all the loops was 2nd lowest. it does look far better in that photo than when actually in motion, fwiw
i almost feel the judges are being less critical and nicer than ever. whatev the first say 6 wks are pretty instantly forgettable

absolutely, i was v sad to see him go. although the "crocs" were actually sperry topsiders in orange, i think. i love that short-suit look on him but have kind of gone off him after watching the links surmounter just posted - such a boring voice.
btw i have to torrent this to watch so i'm late to the party. this particular episode was worse than most for not showing some of the best dresses in the main body of the programme. they barely show them on the runway itself!
i really like that 40s chick.

― polyphonic, Thursday, 31 July 2008 05:34 (seventeen years ago)
hers was ugly but that dude's was a little bit uglier
― akm, Thursday, 31 July 2008 05:37 (seventeen years ago)
I thought mousey chick should've gone home. Hated her dress. Boring boring boring ugly boring.
Though the toilet paper cloud dress was bad, for sure.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 31 July 2008 05:41 (seventeen years ago)
so what's the deal, is this definitely moving to lifetime or no? i heard maybe no. was the lack of promotion for this season related to some production disagreement?
― akm, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:49 (seventeen years ago)
xp she should have gone home just for her surrealism artiste statement. stfu no one wants to hear it and your dress was terrible.
also, i think i couldve made that toilet paper dress out of post-its

i don't mind fake bettie page but i hated her dress. Kelli's mad max-inspired look = hot and totally underrated.

― akm, Friday, 1 August 2008 07:03 (seventeen years ago)
i kind of liked that girl, too. she reminds me of every girl i went to college with.
― horseshoe, Friday, 1 August 2008 07:05 (seventeen years ago)
so what's the deal, is this definitely moving to lifetime or no?
I think it is def moving to lifetime but they might have to wait until the lawsuit btw nbc and runway/weinstein blows over. it just came out that tim gunn was paid nothing for the first season of runway and just $2500 per ep for the second. jesus, how do you not pay tim gunn? :/
― Roz, Friday, 1 August 2008 07:18 (seventeen years ago)
i thought the winning dress was easily the best and it did look like a little bit of couture up there among the chloe, kors etc wannabes. dull and ugly for the most part. kelli, who won the first challange, was robbed at not being top 3 again (from what i could tell, please show the dresses for more than 5 seconds!). i think the wrong person went home though, the losing dress sucked but it was, at least, well made, and there was a germ of an interesting idea in there rather than making a dress like a clock wtf? much as i like keith his toilet paper dress was by far the worst.
a new favourite is Terri, she looks fkin great and has good ideas, i think.
Suede is an abomination.
― jed_, Friday, 1 August 2008 08:15 (seventeen years ago)

― Alex in SF, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:11 (seventeen years ago)
Like WTF was Jerell thinking.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:14 (seventeen years ago)
jerrel's wasn't as bad as daniel's, at least jerrel's was far enough out there that the judges could use the old "its very jerrell, but you need to adhere to the challenge" as opposed to daniel's which was just remarkably drab and utterly boring
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:20 (seventeen years ago)
i guess they both adhered to the same talking point, "i tried to take the challenge and mesh it with my design style", but at least jerrell's wasn't a two color cocktail dress
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:21 (seventeen years ago)
i thought the skirt made by the chick who got knocked off was pretty cool actually, but that sweater thing was so matronly and totally wrong
i liked blaine's a lot
also stella "it's representing our country in a bad ass way" <3 <3
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:22 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah but Daniel and Jennifer are just basically design challenged. I'm not sure they can do anything else. Jerrel actually could have done something else and chose instead to make something that looked like it would have been worn in The Women or something.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:22 (seventeen years ago)
I thought Blaine and Joe's were fairly boring, but at least they ya know TRIED.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:23 (seventeen years ago)
true on both accounts
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:25 (seventeen years ago)

― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:25 (seventeen years ago)
Leanne may have the worst model ever.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:25 (seventeen years ago)
Also Terri got jobbed.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:26 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, i'm getting really exorbitantly sick of this season's contestants and their constant belly-aching about how every single f'ing challenge is "not what they do." why the hell are you on project runway then? were you unaware that you'd be asked to stretch "what you do" in a series of weekly challenges? they're worse than any previous season with the constant whinging about this.
ironic since "what they do" is pretty much ridiculous what-the-fuckery, i mean the ones who are constantly insisting on using this phrase.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:27 (seventeen years ago)
i'm so glad that "surrealist" girl got the boot. wtf was ever surrealist about any of her dowdy 60s-librarian-via-urban-outfitters get ups? besides how surreal it was that she KEPT MAKING THEM after being told repeatedly to knock it off by kors and nina and tim, of course.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:28 (seventeen years ago)
xp^^^OTFM
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:28 (seventeen years ago)
"i cannot make an olympic outfit, it is not what i do. what i do is surrealist holly golightly"
O RLY IS THAT WHAT YOU DO, HONEY? who the hell do you think you are? karl lagerfeld? get over yourself already.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:30 (seventeen years ago)
and on top of it all, they deprive themselves of the fun of being on a reality show where they get to design clothes! that's why i like someone like blaine, who is clearly out there, but i think he relishes the challenge of the challenges and has fun adapting whatever his style is
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:32 (seventeen years ago)
btw jennifer should've consulted burt_stanton before designing her matronly bullshit for an athletic olympian~~
Why are sweaters considered wussy?
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:33 (seventeen years ago)
i think my favorites are stella because she is completely insane and wore a spiked vest, and terri. i maybe like this kelsey person? ugh. hopefully this picks up along the way, everyone just yells at the tv or says "oh honestly" every 30 seconds as it is now in my household.
xpost blayne is so nuts. his outfit last night was like a mixture of scarlett johannson in the island and an american apparel outlet store. i don't really mean it in a bad way, it was so "wackadoodle" PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH U SUEDE
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:33 (seventeen years ago)
Daniel/Jennifer/Stella are among the worst "non-competitors" in the history of this show.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:33 (seventeen years ago)
If he were designing uniforms for Olympic Air, then I'd be a believer.
^^^ tim gunn's blog today on daniel's cocktail waitress outfit. meow, tim gunn. meow!
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:36 (seventeen years ago)
kors' "where are they from? the united republlic of cocktail?" was a 1/10 zing
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:37 (seventeen years ago)
the united republic of cocktail is a weak zing because it sounds like he is describing something great. the better one was "i guess that'd work if her olympic sport was DRINKING" but still.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:38 (seventeen years ago)
this season has the worst contestants ever. i don't care about most of them besides kenley (why do people keep calling her kensey or kelsey??) and terri, maybe? and the rest of them who aren't awful make boring clothes.
― Roz, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:38 (seventeen years ago)
why do people keep calling her kensey or kelsey??
because no one can bring themselves to give a shit at this point still. sigh.
hey, the plaid kelsey outfit and the cocktail waitress outfit: did they look BLUE on everyone else's television too??

i thought my TV was fucked up actually but then they made a huge deal about it being purple
they were both bright blue on my tv--but while the cocktail waitress looks blue on the internets, the plaid thing now looks purple! O_O they made such a huge deal about the purple on the runway but they thought it was blue at mood...what the hell? as designers the both of them should be a little more careful with fabric and double checking and understanding them, no?
i can't believe terri didn't win, the more i look at these outfits. korto annoys me and her outfit was kind of bleh.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:43 (seventeen years ago)
wonder if any of them will be watching the opening ceremony tmr night for once.
― Roz, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:43 (seventeen years ago)
Kenley is fucking annoying.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:45 (seventeen years ago)
Her dress was pretty crappy too actually as Olympic outfits go. But she was immune so she had no incentive to actually try.
haha i hope not, this challenge actually vaguely irritated me in the back of my mind because i am one of those boycott-these-olympics! ppl but that is neither here nor there!! but it does seem strangely...controversial? am i sensitive? probably.
in the end i was more bothered by the outfits than any theoretical political statements. quite frankly i'm not sure a couple of those dresses weren't human rights violations, at least the rights of those poor models to not look completely ridiculous.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:49 (seventeen years ago)
i liked the one w/ the blazer
also re: the blue plaid skirt, i thought it was weird that they made such a huge deal over the ambiguity of daniel's dress but they let the blue plaid one through w/o even a mention of the fact that it could've been worn by swedes or brazilians etc
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:49 (seventeen years ago)
everyone was carrying on bitching so much about kenley's laugh last night...that was an "oh honestly" moment for us, really. be more of bitches! sorry no one is having any enjoyment whatsoever! especially not the straight man who is shocked that many fashion designers are gay!
xpost i think it was because kenley (who made the plaid dress) had immunity -- why bother arguing with her about her design when you can't kick her off anyway, i guess?

i was much happier with shear genius last night because that terrible jersey bitch nekiza was kicked off finally and never again shall i be submitted to staring at her horrible streaky hair 'designs' except for every time i go out in manhattan on a friday night of course.
they had to groom dogs, i highly recommend everyone watch this, the shoutings of "this is not what i do" make a lot more sense when you are asked to do your thing on an entirely different species.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:51 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah people with immunity are never called out in the bottom three.

i liked this one
ftr id like to say that keith is one of the biggest hacks in the history of this show, a third gen santino/jeffery w/o the personality or the chops
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:54 (seventeen years ago)
hm ok i didnt realize that she had immunity
A Project Runway Challop (TM)
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 19:55 (seventeen years ago)
lol @ tim savaging every look except terry's on his blog
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:01 (seventeen years ago)
omg do not say anything bad about my jeffrey
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:25 (seventeen years ago)
noize neck i still <3 u boo
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 7 August 2008 20:26 (seventeen years ago)
i <3 jeffrey too!
a third gen santino/jeffery w/o the personality or the chops
i def don't get this comparison. keith's style is pretty conservative, at least compared to jeffrey (i haven't seen the season santino was in).
― musically, Friday, 8 August 2008 02:03 (seventeen years ago)
i like both santino and jeffery
keith is not as punk as jeff but when it comes to dresses, esp short ones, they have a similar style. mostly, keith is just a straight santino rip
― J0rdan S., Friday, 8 August 2008 02:51 (seventeen years ago)
uh i forget which is jeffrey?
― tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 03:04 (seventeen years ago)
Keith is Santino rip how? Huh? Whuh?
― Alex in SF, Friday, 8 August 2008 04:18 (seventeen years ago)
Note: I do not like Keith much (so far.)
― Alex in SF, Friday, 8 August 2008 04:19 (seventeen years ago)
let's talk about what really counts though: keith is the best looking male contestant on the show, y/n?
― musically, Friday, 8 August 2008 06:02 (seventeen years ago)
maybe santino is the wrong comparison, but its like every year there is one or two of these dudes who do the short, stripey, flirty skirts and keith's shit just seems really robotic and uninspired to me. im not saying santino like invented the look or anything (im thinking about his candy-ish dress if anyone remembers) but since its proj run he sprang to mind
― J0rdan S., Friday, 8 August 2008 06:32 (seventeen years ago)
i just watched the first 40 minutes, and daniel at the museum going "im having soo much trouble grasping this. i'm chic! there is nothing chic about this! i dont like sports!" was the most punchable moment of tv in a long while and thats saying some shit
― J0rdan S., Friday, 8 August 2008 06:33 (seventeen years ago)
btw if anyone starts off an explanation of their garment by saying something like "well i was really inspired by the past and i just wanted to update that look for the now" they should be banned from designing clothes for a full 365 days
― J0rdan S., Friday, 8 August 2008 06:35 (seventeen years ago)
daniel used the word "infuse"! "i just wanted to infuse the old and the new"!! what a grand idea man
haha tim gunn was all, "maybe i shouldn't have brought them to a museum, they all went batshit nuts and made clothes from 1920" on his blog
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 8 August 2008 14:50 (seventeen years ago)
keith is the best looking male contestant on the show, y/n?

― Eric H., Friday, 8 August 2008 15:14 (seventeen years ago)
i have to say blane is really starting to entertain me w/ his silliness.
― tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 15:16 (seventeen years ago)
uh... what?
― elmo argonaut, Friday, 8 August 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)
his weakness from lack of tanning was making me lol.
― tehresa, Friday, 8 August 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)
oh, for a minute there i thought you were referring to keith michael who got kicked off for cheating in a past season
his face was all pointy and he was scummy
― elmo argonaut, Friday, 8 August 2008 15:18 (seventeen years ago)
keith bryce this season is pretty hot, yea, but unremarkable in every other way
― elmo argonaut, Friday, 8 August 2008 15:20 (seventeen years ago)
dude dressed like a total victim
― elmo argonaut, Friday, 8 August 2008 15:21 (seventeen years ago)
I love blayne
I love that jennifer maintained that her designs were surrealist, while being nothing of the sort
― cozwn, Saturday, 9 August 2008 15:19 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, blayne is funny and silly and I'll take 1000 blaynes over 1 korto, who has no sense of humour and can't smile properly - she only even half smiled when she (unjustly) won that last challenge (over terri, who totally bossed it, I thought)
― cozwn, Saturday, 9 August 2008 15:20 (seventeen years ago)
kenley is not annoying at all; is this an american thing? those dudes were all super-serious fun-hating schmucks for hating on kenley laughing
the little next ep. preview was funny when it showed kenley laughing at daniel, who deserves to be laughed at: dude it's purple
― cozwn, Saturday, 9 August 2008 15:24 (seventeen years ago)
-- the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, August 7, 2008 8:28 PM (2 days ago) Bookmark Link
it was surreal that she maintained they were surreal; plus it was funny, because she was a little dowdy and her dresses were nowhere near surreal
she deserved to go, but I felt a little bit sorry for her; she seemed an alright type
I'd have booted korto for being miserable
― cozwn, Saturday, 9 August 2008 15:27 (seventeen years ago)
I think that the guy (I am so bad with names on these shows until there are like... 5 people left) oh, Daniel should have gone home, not only was that a cocktail dress and not an Olympic uniform, it SUCKED. Is there a woman out there who would choose to wear that dress instead of the slightly boring but cute & well put together skirt/sweater combo that got Salvador Darling kicked off? I think that if she'd found her skirt fabric in red and white she'd still be here and purple cocky cocktail guy would be at home crying into his weblog (and Wesley.)
Sorry, I missed this episode while out of town and downloaded it last night :)
I am starting to warm up to both Blayne and his tanning addiction, and Stellah and her leathah. She was wearing makeup in this episode! What freaks her out most about me is I knew an ex-heroin/current methadone addict who used to hang out in the local Coffee Time smoking room and shoot the shit with me - who looked just like her. I used to think he looked like Ozzy. No. He looked like Stellah.
― Finefinemusic, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 16:34 (seventeen years ago)
this is a really unlikeable group of people, it seems like they went for personalities more this time than in the past.
― akm, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 16:57 (seventeen years ago)
daniel was bad last week but salvador darling has been bad every week so she got the cumulative award i think.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 13 August 2008 17:37 (seventeen years ago)
i don't understand how you can claim to be a surrealist fashion designer and not compulsively invent crazy hats (see: vincent, season 3)

I think I would have loved it if salvador darling had made that hat! I did not see season 3.. should I d/l? I have a video iPod and 3 hours of commuting per day... maybe I will.
― Finefinemusic, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 18:12 (seventeen years ago)
Do it! Season 3 is the best! Michael is awesome, Laura rips some zingers IIRC, Vincent is a great sideshow, Jeffrey is a fun point of controversey, and Uli is Deutsche!
I'm getting tired of Leatha because she was so obviously cast as this season's Sweet P and I'm really really missing Sweet P right now. ;_;
― Leee, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 22:03 (seventeen years ago)
when did heidi stop doing the "models, this is a competition for YOU, too" bit? i didn't watch season 4 and i don't remember whether she did it during season 3
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 15:07 (seventeen years ago)
She's done it this season!
― HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 15:09 (seventeen years ago)
on some eps i think she makes a bigger deal about it.
― carne asada, Thursday, 14 August 2008 15:09 (seventeen years ago)
Jerrell/Stella were ripped off
― Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 14 August 2008 15:45 (seventeen years ago)
awesome how they made all the designers pretend for the camera that they care about lipstick jungle
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)
still loving blayne
― homosexual II, Thursday, 14 August 2008 16:38 (seventeen years ago)
I miss Sweet P too :(
I can't find s3 yet but will look.. can't seem to get Opera's torrent stuff to work so have to resort to megaupload etc etc.
― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 16:40 (seventeen years ago)
jerrell DEFINITELY shoulda won that. embarrassing myself to admit i've seen a few eps of lipstick jungle and i feel like his outfit was a lot more suited to it.
― tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 16:59 (seventeen years ago)
Am I missing something about Keith's designs? They've pretty much all looked like shit to me, including this last one. Plus something about the way he talks sets my brain on fire.
― en i see kay, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)
yeah... whoever said he was a santino ripoff OTM. but less interesting than santino.
― tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:09 (seventeen years ago)
leatha isn't this years sweet p
she is this years last years one who was kooky and outsider and hippy and made dresses out of fabrics with just one cut and that were ugly
― cozwn, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:12 (seventeen years ago)
oh the alien spit marking girl?
― tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:13 (seventeen years ago)
hahahahaha she was amazing
― HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:15 (seventeen years ago)
lol elisa, she was such an awesome nutter - way loonier than leatha.
― Roz, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:15 (seventeen years ago)
love how, predictably, leatha keeps slipping by every week. how soon will they do the "you only do leather!" and kick her off?
― tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:18 (seventeen years ago)
I think Stella is more like Elisa too. I don't see a Sweet P in this season. Other comparisons to Season 4: Blayne = Ricky, Daniel = Rami, Kelli = Kit.
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:24 (seventeen years ago)
Sweet P maybe the older sister to the family that is Kenley and the Blonde girl with many tattoos but not veyr much personality? I think she's 20ish but tends to looke 35-40 everytime she is in the background.. forget her name.
― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:26 (seventeen years ago)
Blonde girl with tattoos is Kelli - who was just kicked off last night.
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:26 (seventeen years ago)
good call tho re: sweet p as older sister to Kelli
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:27 (seventeen years ago)
ahh SHIT I haven't seen last night's episode yet since I d/l them and had been happily spoiler free by skipping over last night's posts and only commenting on Sweet P. I'm a dumbass.
― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:30 (seventeen years ago)
yeah I agree with that
haha yeah elisa!! spit marking!!! insane

okay so - definitely anticipating next week's challenge
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:48 (seventeen years ago)
hahaha omg it's gonna be crazy. what will blayne do!? and jerrell!? omg!
― tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)
no no no worries Kitties!!!! it was my fault for coming in. I am 100% not a "PFFT THANKS FOR THE SPOILER" asshole, just whiny. I will watch happily regardless :)
― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:50 (seventeen years ago)
next week's challenge is going to be the greatest thing in the entire world. fatty is back! in drag! with DRAG QUEENS! OMGWTFFTWBBQ
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:52 (seventeen years ago)
jerrell really surprised me this week though. when he picked stella I thought they were headed towards disaster. but they got robbed - cause I don't get Keith either.
but yayyy chris is back next week. will be an awesome challenge
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:55 (seventeen years ago)
it already beats the fuck out of brooke shields
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:55 (seventeen years ago)
i mean truly, do we care about her? no.
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:56 (seventeen years ago)
I do, but I am both lol old and lol Ivy.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 17:59 (seventeen years ago)
i thought it was endearing that she seemed genuinely excited to be on the show
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:01 (seventeen years ago)
I thought Keith's dress was nice and certainly at least the second best, but I find him to be very unpleasant.
Jerrell and Stella are two of my favorite "personalities" this year, so I'm glad they actually produced something nice. A lot of the best designers this season are borderline unpleasant. Very unlike last season's big group hug.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:01 (seventeen years ago)
btw
I AINT GOT BABIES, AINT NOBODY SUCKING ON MY TITTIES
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:02 (seventeen years ago)
man, i dunno, i just got a heavy Lord & Taylor vibe off the whole challenge, eyuch
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:02 (seventeen years ago)
JORDAN OTM re: Terri
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:03 (seventeen years ago)
yeah jerrell and stella deserved to win. fuck keith
daniel is obv getting eliminated next week. imagine how awful and just totally wrong his thing is going to be
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:03 (seventeen years ago)
does anyone know what the ratings are like this season? usually they don't tease surprise "celebrity" guest judges, but the past two weeks they've revealed brooke shields and now jay, which signaled to me that maybe ppl aren't watching?
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:04 (seventeen years ago)
daniel is like malan v2.0
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:06 (seventeen years ago)
it seemed like they rolled this last season out pretty quickly, like wasn't there more of a break between the last season? maybe not though.
― carne asada, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:08 (seventeen years ago)
I read somewhere - here? that some think Bravo is trying to spoil/"ruin" the show before it moves to whatever other channel, by giving away top/bottom 3 & judges in previews for next week so people get annoyed and give up on the show :(
Does anyone watch PR Australia? I've been downloading that too and OMG there are these two gay male contestants who are hands down the most annoying people I've ever seen. Oren and something, the Asian dude with the tsunami hair. KILL KILL.
― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:08 (seventeen years ago)
i was thinking of watching it. is it worth it?
― tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:09 (seventeen years ago)
i bet daniel is the one who makes the drag queen look like michael kors's grandmamma
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:11 (seventeen years ago)
What I've seen so far is fun stuff except my incessant rage at tsunami boy. He just irritates me to no end! I've only watched the first few episodes though, so I can't comment on anyone else really. I live for reality TV junk to pass the time on the bus.
― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:11 (seventeen years ago)
true. they are revealing all of the next challenges and keeping nothing back. not that brooke shields is "something to be kept back" but it does seem like Bravo is either trying to ruin it on their way out, or nobody is watching. last season was much better. nobody stands out this year - at least for their talent - even now that we are down to 11. it's mostly just a whole lot of whiny
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:13 (seventeen years ago)
kelsey & terri are definitely talented i think!
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:17 (seventeen years ago)
lol @ ppl still fucking up kenley's name. i like korto's stuff, even if it isn't 100% original and she is a boring person. i'd wear it.
― tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:18 (seventeen years ago)
i think the top 5 of this season will be pretty strong
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:18 (seventeen years ago)
i lol'd @ korto's bus analogy rant last night
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:19 (seventeen years ago)
okay so her name is kenley. the one that wears the headbands and flowers and feathers and fascinators and shit. you know.
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:19 (seventeen years ago)
she looks kinda like lily allen
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:20 (seventeen years ago)
i think she is super adorable.
― tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:21 (seventeen years ago)
they need to clear out the dead wood, tho, & pronto. joe? get that goateed ass outta here. korto is just boring, and keith is infuriating with being kinda hot and a total victim douche
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:22 (seventeen years ago)
i don't think this season is any more or less talented that the last few
i mean think about how far kayne and angela (btw if there is anything i have learned from proj runway it is this: do NOT make bermuda shorts. under any circumstance. they will get you in the bottom two, and possibly elimnated) made it
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:23 (seventeen years ago)
yes. I think Korto is good and Teri is awesome. I thought Daniel might've been good - back a few weeks ago and was sorry to see Kelli go. I guess I mean that while there are a few talented designers, last year it was difficult to figure out who had the best design each week because they were all really good. This year it's ifficult to figure out exactly which designer is the worst each week. There's a lot of dead wood. But I didn't mean to suggest there wasn't talent. My bad.
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:29 (seventeen years ago)
oh and can't stand kenley. that dress she made that won a few weeks ago was horrendous. whole lot of south beach - so I found it odd of her to chastise keith this week for his garment looking "south beach".
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:31 (seventeen years ago)
keith's was good this week but i still think he's a hack
he can pick good colors and fabrics, his designs are just so robotic
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:33 (seventeen years ago)
oh man, i loved that weirdo tropicalia dress with the puffy purple gash thing
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:34 (seventeen years ago)

― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:36 (seventeen years ago)
ugh awful. kenley's clearly a one-noter. i submit as evidence her own need to appear in 40's style each week including the flower in her hair. she is definitely adorable (and I love that style myself) but it doesn't mean she should be designing for some big design house.
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:36 (seventeen years ago)
more than a dress; a conversation piece
I HATED THAT THING SO MUCH
― HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:36 (seventeen years ago)
but what do I know - I hated Jillian's designs from last year and everyone loved her stuff.
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:37 (seventeen years ago)
winning this isn't really about working for a big house. it's about springboarding your own career and getting your work out there/exposed, right?
― tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:37 (seventeen years ago)
<3 kennli's teeth too
maybe it's her mouth
tht dress is so hott
― cozwn, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:38 (seventeen years ago)
really? her supermarket dress wasn't 'period' at all, the eco-fabric thing with the huge standing collar was from the FUTURE, the kool-aid tropicalia thing was all over the place, i don't understand how she's 'one note'?
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:40 (seventeen years ago)
good point theresa. and I guess that means if you can find buyers for your stuff - no matter what it looks like or how it is made - then all is good. important distinction.
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:40 (seventeen years ago)
oh and can't stand kenley
Me too. She's an asshole. Unfortunately it seems that she will be around for awhile.
(Also she looks awful when she laughs.)
― polyphonic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:41 (seventeen years ago)
i like kenley. she is a top 4 lock.
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:41 (seventeen years ago)
What's her DPS?
― HI DERE, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)
(sorry, bad WoW joke)
I just don't see Kenley branching out much. But I guess that could be said for most people this year. especially miss surrealist Jennifer who got kicked off last week - doing what she wants vs. what might be a creative challenge. even though I love Terri she tends to usually do the big pants stuff.
― Kitties!!!, Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)
wait, no one loved jillian. she was kept on by the producers to up the drama level and that is a stone cold fact. who the hell "loved" jillian?

omg that purse, terrible
― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:32 (seventeen years ago)
you guyz i just finished season 2 (thank you torrents)
two thoughts:
Santino's Tim Gunn impression and "FASHION! lighten up it's just FASHION!" song = fabulous Guadalupe at the reunion show: wtf???????????????????????
rent the DVDs or find another torrent client...I've been catching up with torrents too and season 3 is definitely my favorite so far and is worth the effort.
― musically, Thursday, 14 August 2008 22:08 (seventeen years ago)
I though Jerrell/Stella's outfit was the best but it didn't strike me as particularly work-friendly, although I suppose a studio-executive in imaginaryland could pull it off.
― musically, Thursday, 14 August 2008 22:11 (seventeen years ago)
i have loved everything kenley's made but she irritates the fuck out of me. she seems like an asshole. i hate these assholes. oh i just looked upthread; bless you, other people who find kenley to be an asshole! also could she try a non-bettie page look (for herself, i mean) just once?
the only likeable people this season are korto, jerrell, stella and blayne.
― horseshoe, Thursday, 14 August 2008 22:29 (seventeen years ago)
oh, and kelli, but she's gone. ;_;
Leanne seems pretty likable.
Kenley really bothered me by laughing at Daniel (?) on the runway, and I don't like Daniel either. Even the "villains" of seasons' past didn't lol at others on the runway ffs.
― musically, Thursday, 14 August 2008 23:04 (seventeen years ago)
Terri is really likeable. in fact, i think i love her. i like korto okay but she's obvsly a moody bitch.
i can't see kenley as one note, she just seems that way because her own personal style is one note (but well executed). i like her a lot. that outfit that's been reposted here 5 times is still the best outfit of the season.
this daniel guy is a stupid cunt. this "impeccable taste" patter week after week gets more and more hollow. he should have gone. i liked kelli, although her outfit was utterly awful, at least she put it together and didn't stumble over making a black pencil skirt.
jerrel and leatha should have won this.

blaynes impression of leatha <3
I don't like korto cs her clothes are bad (the week she won, wht wr the judges thinking??) and she doesn't smile
she doesn't smile. never
terri is so 70s it's unreal but also irrefutably modern, not kitsch nor retro and her clthes are so ace. she bossed it the week korto won

I can't check this thread 'til I see the episode but I have been watching PR Australia (it's getting better) and last week's episode had Kelly Rowland on it! She really is beautiful, isn't she? I don't think they really let us see her as pretty during the Destiny's Child/Beyonce Show years.. too bad. Anyway, she was lovely.
― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 21 August 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)
oh one more quick one, here is the dress that won her challenge, which she wore onstage in Cannes:
http://www.news.com.au/common/imagedata/0,,6206934,00.jpg
It was pretty cute but I actually liked a couple of the others more. This one definitely had insane detail (those scallops are all individual circles sewn on!)

― Finefinemusic, Friday, 22 August 2008 01:04 (seventeen years ago)
i love terri lots but the outfit looked a little messy. def like it better in the pic. still think joe rocked it, though - esp for someone who took like 3 hours to wrap his head around the idea of making a drag costume.
― tehresa, Friday, 22 August 2008 02:09 (seventeen years ago)
Such a great challenge! If Terri wasn't going to win this, then Joe should have.
Daniel, for an entomologist, is really, really dull.
― Leee, Friday, 22 August 2008 05:01 (seventeen years ago)
Am I cruel to say that I enjoy watching the indie rock looking girl Leanne when she is among the last to go? Leanne's eyes get dilated behind those specks and she looks like is nearly going to break down because mom found out she failed trig. I have to say that she has one of the worse deer in the headlights faces when in the situation in the history of the show. I find it oddly entertaining.
What the heck kind of cloth can you get out of a car? Criminy, this makes rooting through garbage seem easy.
Episode 7: Fashion That Drives You
The designers have to make an outfit made entirely out of the spare parts and raw materials of a car.
― earlnash, Friday, 22 August 2008 05:05 (seventeen years ago)
hmm usually someone undeserving goes down in these mid-season tarded challenges
unless stella strips seats for leather and makes another catwoman outfit and they just shoot her on sight
― J0rdan S., Friday, 22 August 2008 05:07 (seventeen years ago)
i actually predict a stella victory
bullshit challenge but so much fun! terri robbed again but Joe's was pretty great and the queen who wore it looked soooo awesome.
― Roz, Friday, 22 August 2008 13:05 (seventeen years ago)
Keith and Daniel are both so awful. leanne is boring. still have no idea what suede's about except for the third person thing. blayne is ok - would be pissed if he was a finalist but for the moment, dude is good tv esp since the rest of them take themselves way too seriously. and stella might be the most one-trick of them all but at least she seems to get what the challenges are about.
love terri, kenley, jerell - judges kind of harsh on jerell this week, i thought.
― Roz, Friday, 22 August 2008 13:07 (seventeen years ago)
jerrell has the construction skills all day, but not so much the good design judgement
― elmo argonaut, Friday, 22 August 2008 13:26 (seventeen years ago)
I hate to be the broken record that keeps talking about PR Aus, but they had a challenge where all their materials were given to them in the trunk of a FIAT - tires, plugs, etc etc. Some of the stuff actually turned out pretty great.

― cozwn, Monday, 25 August 2008 02:16 (seventeen years ago)
I think Joe turns out well-made and consistent, if boring, garments. Like Stella, who only likes to rivet shit, this lack of creativity or ability to work outside the comfort zone will eventually be his downfall (lol reality TV 101).
― tehresa, Monday, 25 August 2008 05:12 (seventeen years ago)
just caught the runway from the last episode again. they have a clip of keith saying about his drag queen, "her look is like tina turner, but more rock and roll."
...
god i hate him.
― elmo argonaut, Monday, 25 August 2008 07:18 (seventeen years ago)
how retarded is that.
besides, imagine how crazy an outfit you could have come up with if a more extreme version of Tina Tuner had been your inspiration? that was like tina turner dresses down to go to the garden centre.

this was spot on in terms of decisions. the right choice for both winner and loser. leanne's was awesome. totally Thierry Mugler.
i have a massive crush on Terri but she needs to step it up a gear. we know you can make a flared pant, girl.

terri is so lol. bad part: i just finished the episode and already don't remember what her outfit looked like. oops.
so glad keith's gone. first time i've actually rooted for stella to stay!
top 3: jerrell/kenley, korto, leanne?
― tehresa, Friday, 29 August 2008 04:50 (seventeen years ago)
I think Jerrel has more pizzazz, and the jidges love Korto, so Terri and Kenley will be the main players for the last spot, while Leanne ends up being a dark horse candidate.
Also glad Leanne did well. I always wanted to like her outfits because I like her approach
Ditto, though more because she has (one of) the most likable personalities this season, making fun of Suede's third person self-referencing, Blayne's "licious" shtick ("Barfilicious!"), etc.
Speaking of, how many family members has Suede killed off so far?
― Leee, Friday, 29 August 2008 05:09 (seventeen years ago)

y'all really think terri over kenley? i mean, according to last week, even when they don't like her stuff all that much, they still love her...
oh, i forgot. yes, kenley is the 3rd possible option for third place in the final. actually now that i thinkabout it i don't think jerrel has the design talent to make it to the end.

Leanne and Korto look like locks for the final. i'm guessing the third place is between Terri and Jerrel.I agree.
Jerrel could surprise us with something awesome anytime now. I think he's better than Terri.
Blayne is probably going to go soon just because he will pull some spoony neon thing out of his monkey hat.
― CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 10 September 2008 19:57 (seventeen years ago)
and kenley will act emo and cry all over her dress causing her to lose.
― CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 10 September 2008 19:58 (seventeen years ago)
Well I predicted that well. And I never saw what was so great about Terri but apparently some (or one) of you all liked her for some reason?
― CaptainLorax, Thursday, 11 September 2008 02:31 (seventeen years ago)
Terri had some really well tailored pieces; her Olympic outfit was stellar. Her problem was that she was very conservative as a designer.
― musically, Thursday, 11 September 2008 06:38 (seventeen years ago)
And I am glad Blayne is gone. His outfit tonight was a true monstrosity, maybe even worse than his first outfit?
terri's elimination was BS imo but a pretty standard OMG NO THEY DIDNT~~~ moment i guess
― its sad he was a ringtone poster (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 11 September 2008 06:48 (seventeen years ago)
whoops, part of my first post was left off; basically, Terri was very conservative as a designer, and while I think she and Suede had fairly similar aesthetics, I could definitely see Suede pulling off a more interesting collection (although I doubt he'll make it to the final).
Speaking of the final, isn't the PR show at Bryant Park this week? Are all six who are left showing there?
― john mccain's illegitimate black child (musically), Thursday, 11 September 2008 07:15 (seventeen years ago)

― Super Cub, Thursday, 11 September 2008 07:27 (seventeen years ago)
usually they have the top 4 show, right? i have been trying not to pay attn so i don't spoil.
so... can leanne make one piece without those scallop pieces? it's getting boring.
i think they did a pretty good job w/ this episode to pave the way for terri's departure. thought she'd go further but it was almost like they set her up. and yeah, her entire collection would probably have been too conservative. yay for jerrel for winning one! kenley next to go?
― needs moar chad (tehresa), Thursday, 11 September 2008 07:37 (seventeen years ago)

― polyphonic, Thursday, 11 September 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)
Wisit is fantastic, carne.
Just d/led episode, coming into this thread tomorrow.. but I have been continuing with PR Australia and they're having their final next week.. SO excited, the top three are awesome and for once all friends/supportive of one another!
I also watched season 2 and 3 during ILX's outage.. wow! Funnily enough I thought I was spoiled for both seasons (I thought Santino and Michael won, respectively) because I recognized their names.. totally hate that Jeffrey made whatsherface's mom cry! Ass!
― Finefinemusic, Thursday, 11 September 2008 18:48 (seventeen years ago)
Suede could do alright if he ever picked the right fabric. And yay for Jerell again, he has been very consistent and has definitely deserved the last win. I also agree that Kinley should be the next to go, but like suede, she could be on or off at times.
I will be happy to see Leanne branch out a bit more as well. But she is still pretty damn good.
― CaptainLorax, Thursday, 11 September 2008 19:54 (seventeen years ago)
Leanne's dress reminds me of a dress she made really early (first episode?) that they ripped apart. It's like they changed their minds or something.

Major lols when Kenley was all, "WHOA my HOROSCOPE is soooo ME!!"
Disappointed that we didn't get to see a Siriano/Blayne faceoff where Christian totally snapped on tanorexic for trying to bite off his catchphrasiness.

My love for both Blayne and Stelluh grew and grew this cycle, so I was SO happy when they got put together on the challenge.. of course, I also knew they are both so insane that it'd spell the death of Blayne in this competition. Too bad. Suede has also grown on Finefinemusic and Finefinemusic hopes Suede and his many dead relatives will live on in this competition! Kenley has become such a major pain in the ass. Maybe a bit ADD or something? She seems to NEED everyone to see/hear her all the time.
― Finefinemusic, Friday, 12 September 2008 14:22 (seventeen years ago)
Oh and Terri's behaviour with Keith! I wanted to hug the poor guy (even though I thought he was a douche and was glad to see the end of him when he was kicked off), I don't blame him for going and having a nap (Tim waking him up was major lulz). Terri was acting like SUCH a bitch and her outfit was kind of gross looking in the end so good riddance to bad rubbish! I think Leeanimal FTW because she's just adorable - I do agree with whoever said she needs a hair makeover! - and please for the love of god, Korto, get off the valium and SMILE once or twice! She drives me insane with her mumbling and lack of enthusiasm.
― Finefinemusic, Friday, 12 September 2008 14:25 (seventeen years ago)
yeah her hair really drags her down. i don't think i paid any attention to her for the first 4 weeks because i just thought she seemed dull. it's the hair that makes her seem much less interesting than she is.

stevie, i am a sucker for kimono sleeves so i can' hate on korto. her clothes are like, the only thing i could actually wear.
please for the love of god, Korto, get off the valium and SMILE once or twice! She drives me insane with her mumbling and lack of enthusiasm.
She's like me in this respect, and I love that about her. Because I love me!

Egoist. ^_^
maybe not as a designed designer, but blayne was genuinely funny
Uh? Licious this and holla at yo boy that needed a rest, iv real.
You know for the first several episodes, I kept getting Leanne and Jennifer mixed up; both white girls with long, straight brown hair who had a low-key way of talking, it's like, SURREAL.
― Leee, Friday, 12 September 2008 21:04 (seventeen years ago)
When Leanne was doing her "spy" thing, I basically was staring at the TV going "omg she is quietly insane". I've been a big booster ever since.
― lol (HI DERE), Friday, 12 September 2008 21:07 (seventeen years ago)
hollaatyaboy was him being cute with tim; he only said it like 3 or 4 times
the licious thing was silly, but at least it was slightly original cf. christian's 'fierce'
plus it was totally overplayed, as you would expect from the broad stroke editing of these kinda TV shows
he was a funny dude in between all that caricature nonsense

― lol (HI DERE), Friday, 12 September 2008 22:36 (seventeen years ago)
jerrell reminds me a little of this dude steve i know. the last time i saw steve, he entered the bar we were in, trailed by an old asian man trying to sell flashing rave necklaces made of finding nemo characters, and then steve proceeded to knock beers all to the floor and smash things. he went for a smoke break immediately after entering, then came back and left to go to a party on a rooftop. i imagine jerrell doing similar things, in his free time away from wearing ludicrous shirts and designing crazy hats.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 12 September 2008 22:53 (seventeen years ago)
The wife and I have kind of started to use "Leanne" as shorthand to describe all the NW kinda-sorta indie rock undergrads that we see.

Videos of the collection: Jerrell's collection looked amazing in the Jezebel pics, not so much in movement. Disappointing. Suede's just looks horribly cheap. Loved Leanne's the most, followed by Korto.
I looove Siriano's spring collection. Impressive, detailed work and so much more wearable than his PR finale line.

no chat on this week's episode yet?
Jerrel's design was leagues ahead of everyone else. Korto's, although second best, was still poor, i thought. how come they loved that jacket?
kenley has lost the plot and it looks like she finally falls over the edge next week. the trailer seemed to be all about her bad attitude. she was so pissed that she didn't win this challenge - could she not see how great Jerrel's look was compared to hers?
Suede and Joes outfits this week both completely defied belief.
― jed_, Friday, 19 September 2008 00:29 (seventeen years ago)
I thought Korto's jacket was pretty frumpy - much moreso than Leanne's jacket, which I thought was kind of cute but its hem / the belt didnt' line up right, which bothered me. I can't wait to see Kenley fall apart, she's getting kind of loony and bitchy!
Despite everything I kind of love Suede - the thumbs up when he talked the girl out of her pants (haH)! - but yeah, ugly outfit. Thankfully Joe's was worse. Jerrell's definitely deserved to win.
― Finefinemusic, Friday, 19 September 2008 00:37 (seventeen years ago)
As much as I don't like Gawker, their description of Kenley seems pretty spot-on
And then. And then and then and then. Do you remember that girl you knew in college who was fashionable in this timid, darting way. Who things never seemed to go quite right for until they really did and there was something so smug and self-satisfied about her success. And then you'd see her at parties or in the dining hall and she was always talking to boys, only boys, perhaps one out-of-her-league fellow in particular, in this cloying and sad and infuriating way. She would get a little too sloppy at parties and quietly profess her sad love for this boy—who probably played club lacrosse or rowed crew and had some family money and was kind but aloof to her—and she would glare at any girl in a shrill passive aggressive way if she felt encroached upon. That girl was someone you felt bad for, sure, but mostly you couldn't stand her. Because she was a poor representative of Women, the kind of deliberately damaged goods (I don't mean mental imbalance—I mean put-on modesty wrapped in over-confidence swathed in self-righteous anger) who made boys thinks that "chicks are crazy, man." That is Kenley. And that's all I'll say about her.
― Elvis Telecom, Friday, 19 September 2008 01:10 (seventeen years ago)
There were a few shots of Suede's dress on its own, and it was a really beautiful dress. Shame about the jacket.

― Alex in SF, Friday, 19 September 2008 01:27 (seventeen years ago)

Kenley is a total bitch - i seriously hate her for openly laughing at people during the judging.
― casino royale with cheese (Roz), Friday, 19 September 2008 01:49 (seventeen years ago)

― nightmare sussudio (tehresa), Friday, 19 September 2008 04:30 (seventeen years ago)
and minikenley did it, too!
Tim Gunn said it was basically a cocktail dress = I think I can be excused for calling it one.
Whether it technically was or not, it wasn't close to fitting the parameters of the challenge.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 19 September 2008 04:37 (seventeen years ago)
I was kind of leaning towards giving Jerrell a big middle finger for his ching chong moment during the DvF challenge, but he's just too charming to hate.
I'm liking Suede! (Or feeling bad for him, can't tell the difference.) It's the fact that he's very clearly overmatched, and his silly personality.
Still loving Leanne, if not for her designs though.
― Leee, Friday, 19 September 2008 04:57 (seventeen years ago)
that Gawker thing is not a good description of anyone other than the fucked up inside of the head of that particular "writer".
― jed_, Friday, 19 September 2008 08:30 (seventeen years ago)
^^^ Agreed. Yikes.
I like Kenley for laughing during the judging because it's really nice to have some sort of acknowledgment every once in a few episodes that standing on a runway with Heidi Klum spouting catchphrases at you is anything other than totally ludicrous.
I'm pretty much "eh, would probably try to go on a few dates but not make any real connection, be on disconnected but friendly terms afterwards" towards her otherwise.
So glad Joe is finally fucking gone, can't believe it took so long.

Korto's was terrible and i actually thought Suede's was the only good one. Jerrel looked great in it and i couldn't stop looking at his crotch, which is pretty key in R&Roll terms.
i would have pretty much reversed the entire order of winners>losers.
― jed_, Thursday, 25 September 2008 23:22 (seventeen years ago)
I thought they were all pretty bad (and have for the past couple of weeks actually.) I thought Korto's jeans were nice enough. Jerrel was going to look great in practically anything, but that outfit was a yawn.

92% of people who watch the show hate Kenley, which is pretty impressive.
I definitely didn't think Korto deserved to win, but it was worth it just to see Suede lose in a goth juggalo outfit.
Kenley looked f'in hot.
― polyphonic, Friday, 26 September 2008 00:06 (seventeen years ago)
i hated the bleaching on korto's jeans and thought the entire outfit looked really obvious. suede's look for jerrel was pretty good imo, esp the vest. kenley's pants were like what?! jerrel rocked it again - who knew kenley had that body?

korto's jeans were very well made and the silouette was flattering for suede, but the entire outfit was shit from top to bottom in terms of concept. since when did punk mean "dress like you are in linkin park" (don't answer that, probably)? she fundamentally failed because she made an outfit for the challenge that was handed down to suede IMO. also, everyone shitting themselves over OMG BLEACH TREATMENT, it's like ppl have been doing that since the '80s? and it's kind of out of style right now? and it's amazingly f'ing easy to accomplish? ugh so bad and i wanted to cry for poor suede, the indignity of getting kicked off WHILE WEARING THAT. jesus!
it was just so outdated and tacky and awful, i don't see it being any less of a disaster than kenley's except in the fact that it was somewhat better made. they failed in the exact same ways except for the crotch of the pants debacle! oh. well. leanne's hair looked super cute like that btw!
and also korto is not a horrible person, unlike kenley, but that's neither here nor there.
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Saturday, 27 September 2008 19:58 (seventeen years ago)
I'm sure LL knows who MIA is.
Thought Jerrel should have won but whatevs.
― Super Cub, Saturday, 27 September 2008 19:58 (seventeen years ago)
In general I was kind of unimpressed with the designs this time. Maybe the challenge was too contrived? But it was fun seeing them all made up. Especially Leanne.
― Super Cub, Saturday, 27 September 2008 20:00 (seventeen years ago)
it's just really unfair that suede got sent home because his outfit looked like things jerrel already wears. it wasn't explicitly a make-over challenge and it's not his fault that jerrel dresses like an adderall-addled lenny kravitz. it was a little boring but so is rock 'n' roll, and the pants were really well done, just as well-made as korto's quite frankly and not as outdated and tacky.
xpost yeah i was unimpressed in general tbh, i mean i'm mainly arguing for the narcissism of small differences.

korto had the hardest challenge suede look half decent and she failed the test.
Maybe the challenge was too contrived?
yes.
kenley's trousers were bad at the crotch and didn't really have anything to do with hip hop but did look like it was a decent R&B outfit (from a few years ago, maybe) if you ignored the weird crotch. Leanne at least didn't look ridiculous in it. suede did in his.
― jed_, Saturday, 27 September 2008 20:32 (seventeen years ago)
korto had the hardest challenge to makesuede look half decent and she failed the test.
― jed_, Saturday, 27 September 2008 20:33 (seventeen years ago)
I actually thought Kenley's outfit was pretty otm, although the tailoring of the pants was terrible. It was very Mary J Blige.
― john mccain's illegitimate black child (musically), Saturday, 27 September 2008 21:24 (seventeen years ago)
I thought the pants Kenley made were terrible. From the waist up, it was good.
― polyphonic, Saturday, 27 September 2008 22:43 (seventeen years ago)
it was sort of mjb from several years ago. she was right to argue that there are diverse looks in hip hop but her outfit really wasn't a very good representation of where things are NOW. not to mention that her explanations were really O_O ("this print looks just like graffiti!" where? a sanrio store?)
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Saturday, 27 September 2008 23:17 (seventeen years ago)
jerrel rocked it again - who knew kenley had that body?
i did, for one. frankly, my eyes have been glued to her booty since day dot. BUT
it's funny, i used to love kenley. now i want to cut a bitch.
TOTALLY OTM. she is so fucking irritating and bitchy i just want her to shut up shut UP SHUT UP!
over the past few episodes Jerrel is turning out to be my absolute favorite, maybe not completely design-wise, but just as a person. dude makes me practically spit out my beer from LAWLing at least once per episode

No joke. I can't believe Korto won that challenge. I seriously hope Kenley gets the boot this week.
― Peanuts taste like peanut butter (Susan), Monday, 29 September 2008 13:41 (seventeen years ago)
looove jerell... he's been my favourite since the start even though his designs are pretty hit-or-miss. too funny! I'm still laughing at that thing he said about terri a few weeks back - mean but lol! thought he should've won this challenge, and I thought suede's was actually better than the other three, but i guess dude needed to go sometime.
i'm guessing next week the judges will tell them that none of them are fucking ready for bryant park (cue the TEARS) cos honestly, overall, this week's was *weak* and it's the second to last challenge before the final three! that and none of these guys have really wow-ed me consistently the way jillian or christian did last season, or michael or laura before that.
― Roz, Monday, 29 September 2008 15:19 (seventeen years ago)
I've liked Korto and Leanne a lot almost all season, despite missteps. Kenley is totally this season's Jeffrey and this makes me terrified that she will win.
― i am the small cat (HI DERE), Monday, 29 September 2008 15:21 (seventeen years ago)
The top 5 all got to be at Bryant Park already. Pictures available at Bravotv - that's why Suede said "see you on the runway"

I disagree, Kenley's dress was abrasively tacky, Korto's was actually quite pretty IMHO although I do understand how they saw it as pageanty - Kenley's was just ugly ugly ugly, even if it was sewn decently.

i mean okay, if you don't want virginal white then that's okay but at least make it, you know, chic and simple -- both jerrel and kortos dresses looked like craft projects assembled out of newsprint and raffia, DO NOT WANT
― playing the abortion card (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:04 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah Korto's sucked too, but the rest of her collection looks good (even from the bits they showed in this show) whereas Jerrel's stuff looked gaudy and lame.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:07 (seventeen years ago)
does it seem that kenley's being held to a higher standard because of her skill level? like, princess kors always accuses her of shadowing looks from current prominent designers but there's been no such criticism directed at anyone else
― playing the abortion card (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:18 (seventeen years ago)
I think the problem is that Kenley inhabits her own easily-impressed world where she thinks she is amazing for coming up with ideas that have been done by other people for years; I have no doubt that other designers would readily rattle off the names of those who have done their looks before but Kenley seems to think she has no outside influences.
― Like sicking a little bit of water into my mouth (HI DERE), Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:21 (seventeen years ago)
Some of her looks have been pretty direct rips though and she's such a lame-o about not fessing up to it.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:21 (seventeen years ago)
but really, kenley can make a awesome girly dress so well that a girl would slap her mama for a chance to wear it, i don't really care if she's a behavioral headcase because hopefully she will never be on the teevee again after the next ep

― playing the abortion card (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:38 (seventeen years ago)
Uh it's not much different and unfortunatley for Kenley the construction/styling differences all favor McQueen's.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:44 (seventeen years ago)
obviously it pales in comparison to the mcqueen but it is still a kickass dress
― playing the abortion card (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:48 (seventeen years ago)
it was sort of cute when kors told kenley her bridesmaid dress was the "cutest damn dress i've ever seen." it's really too bad she's such an asshole.
― horseshoe, Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)
It is a good dress, but for someone to say a couple of months ago "oh I don't look at other designers" and then produce something that's such a direct knock makes you look like a complete jackass and frankly she deserved to get called on it.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:50 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, i agree about the mcqueen dress, but it was the bridesmaid dress kors really liked. Dan is otm about the way Kenley pretends her designs are completely original and how delusional it is.
― horseshoe, Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)
i mean, she is deep enough into her own behavioral disorder that she'll deny up and down that she copied anyone, i think it's really just a narcissism of small differences thing for her and the details in construction make it COMPLETELY different and the repressed inspiration that unifies them both is totally rejected out of hand
― playing the abortion card (elmo argonaut), Thursday, 9 October 2008 17:58 (seventeen years ago)
Her bridesmaid's dress was darn cute.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 9 October 2008 18:00 (seventeen years ago)
The top half of Kenley's dress in that photo looks a bit sloppy, which I don't remember thinking during the top 4 runway show. of course juxtaposing her dress with the McQueen does her dress no favors.
― ILX MOD (musically), Thursday, 9 October 2008 18:22 (seventeen years ago)

― schwantz, Thursday, 9 October 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)
i really liked kenley's dress. it's different enough from the McQ wedding dress to give the benifit of the doubt but it is a hell of a lot like the red one polyphonic just posted. well, i think it's a pretty great dress however you look at it.
Leanne's dress, on the other hand, was just flat out AWESOME. really incredibly beautiful, as was her bridesmaid dress. there's no way she won't win this. she's leagues ahead.
the right decision was made in the end. Jerrell's dress, while completely over the top ridiculous, actually looked pretty sober compared to the rest of what he had to show Tim. i can't comprehend it.
― jed_, Friday, 10 October 2008 01:22 (seventeen years ago)
McQueens dress was probably made by at least 10 skilled craftswomen over a 4 month period. kenley did a pretty great job and it had enough of her in it to make me think it wasn't a direct rip.
― jed_, Friday, 10 October 2008 01:26 (seventeen years ago)
btw, who was the model in the preview who shows up for the casting and kenley says "she better not act up or anything"?
― jed_, Friday, 10 October 2008 01:29 (seventeen years ago)
I like Kenley, love her style and her clothes, I don't get why she has so many haters here. Probably because she's awesome and doesn't feel the need to just be nice and take the judges' bullshit. Anyway, I'd say Leanne FTW based on the final collections with Kenley as the runner-up.
― After The Hurricane (The Brainwasher), Friday, 10 October 2008 01:31 (seventeen years ago)
xp The crazy model from the first season. I can't recall her.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 10 October 2008 01:40 (seventeen years ago)
I don't get why people jump on Kenley for not being original... I see Balenciaga, Betsey Johnson, Ungaro, McQueen in Kenley... but in Leanne I see Phillip Lim, Rodarte, Marchesa, Zac Posen ... no one designs in a vacuum, and no one on the show is particularly original so why beat up on Kenley for it. I think she's defensive because they flat out accuse her of stealing designs which is unfair.
― After The Hurricane (The Brainwasher), Friday, 10 October 2008 01:45 (seventeen years ago)
xxp i agree that kenley shouldn't have that many haterz generally. it's insane that she would get 71% of the text vote or whatever to be voted off after seeing everyone's work. she doesnt really fit the villian role imo, she's just annoying and shrill.

Kenley's dress was fantastic. I did think "very McQueen-ish" when I saw it but i don't think it makes it any less incredible ("very Mc-Queenish" was also my reaction to nearly everything Siriano did last year). dunno about the rest of her collection though - don't dig the prints but that's more of my personal taste i think.

- Kenley's "there was nothing with that silhouette" line should be considered alongside her "I don't look at collections" line
- You know, personality-wise, Korto might not the warmest or funniest, but she seems basically decent and nice
- I feel bad for Jerrell, because the guy's main skill has been to take a million colors / patterns / embellishments and somehow put them together in ways that magically don't seem as insane, messy, or tacky as you'd think they would -- this basically ensured that sooner or later he would fail or misjudge and they'd be like "get out of here, your stuff is inane/messy/tacky"
- I'm pretty sure there's a vending machine in Portland that dispenses Leanne's boyfriend

Probably because she's awesome and doesn't feel the need to just be nice and take the judges' bullshit.
Except when Kenley ignores the specifications of the challenge. Kenley isn't a bad designer, but the question that remains is.. would you want to hire her or work with her on anything?
― Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Friday, 10 October 2008 20:22 (seventeen years ago)
Going back to that bit Chris quoted ("doesn't feel the need to just be nice and take the judges' bullshit")... SHE AUDITIONED TO BE ON A COMPETITIVE REALITY PROGRAM, WHICH MEANS BY DEFINITION THAT SHE SIGNED A CONTRACT STATING THAT SHE WOULD TAKE THE JUDGES' BULLSHIT

still, now that I've seen his collection I'm actually kind of glad that he's not in competition - way to bring the fug right at the end, dude.

Okay, so I have been rooting for Leanne just about the whole season but her collection really dropped the ball. So little color, and all those damn petals! I don't love Kenley but I felt that she had the best collection of the three.
― ILX MOD (musically), Thursday, 16 October 2008 05:52 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah I thought Kenley's was the best.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 16 October 2008 06:04 (seventeen years ago)
I also thought Kenley's was best. Leanne's collection was pretty, but really samey. Enough with those petals!

― You know I'm a G 'cause I got a gmail (Susan), Thursday, 16 October 2008 12:51 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah let's face it, even if she'd had the best collection (and I'm not sure she did) she wasn't going to win by virtue of personality.

― Gavin "Spinner" Mason (carne asada), Thursday, 16 October 2008 14:38 (seventeen years ago)
yeah. i would think if i hand painted flowers on my clothes id get laughed off the runway like 'what is this, elementary school?'. Also how does that get reproduced for bluefly.com? Answer: It doesnt.
― DC Purrman (sunny successor), Thursday, 16 October 2008 14:47 (seventeen years ago)
I wanted Leanne to win but thought Kenley's collection was clearly the best. But for the last, like, 5 episodes, I've just been hoping to see Leanne's reaction to being told she won.
Also, who wouldn't give their entire wardrobe for a tandem bike ride with Tim Gunn?
― Steve (Not Stevie) (Stevie D), Thursday, 16 October 2008 15:20 (seventeen years ago)
I like the handpainted element. I think it would be better if someone made that in fabric with more precision, but Kenley didn't have the option of having someone create fabric from scratch for her. Her painting was a little rough, but the color and placement was very refined, and because of that, a lot of her looks had way more visual impact for me. Also, the dress she made that echoed her earlier dress with the poof of different color on the side was great, much better than the earlier version.
I thought Leanne's collection was a little downhill after the dynamite first look (which reminded me a little of Daniel V.'s flower-inspired dress), but a lot of her petaling looked weird to me as it moved. The colors she chose did a good job of mellowing out the weird silhouettes her clothes made in motion, and I give her a lot of credit for making that style look sophisticated and expensive, but it was very one-note.
Korto's stuff seemed very plain to me. Most of the impact was in the tailoring and the accessories. She didn't do much in the way of contrasting fabrics, she didn't use any prints that I remember, ... it just seemed like a very limited palette. I agree with Nina that she is incredibly gifted at making dresses that look good on women of all sizes, but I wanted to be wowed. She's done it before, but I was a little bored by her stuff on the runway.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 16 October 2008 17:07 (seventeen years ago)
That's a fair assessment of Korto frankly (again it's hard for me to separate Kenley from her annoyingness, but I don't like the weird poof thing much and I found Leanne's stuff way way too one note--both design and color palette-wise--it looked better in photo than live on the runway.)
I think it's safe to say this was the weakest season/showing since the second.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 16 October 2008 17:11 (seventeen years ago)
frankly, they were all poor. leanne's was the best made, the most marketable etc. but you have to have more than one idea. designers do a signature thing for one collection (or a series of collections, or a career) obviously. but they mix it up a bit. the waves, the waves, the waves... over and or again! & the colour palette was stupefyingly dull. even a bit of black (sustainable) taffeta in there would have shook it up a bit.
― jed_, Friday, 17 October 2008 02:13 (seventeen years ago)
korto's was my favorite and also i love her! i can't make up my mind about kenley; i think she's really talented but she just seems like a bad fit for runway fashion.
a couple of leanne's pieces were amazing but overall it was a little too one-note. not unlike christian serriano, i guess.
― horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 02:32 (seventeen years ago)
That's bullshit. Siriano's collection was way way better (and more varied) than Leanne's. And his post-PR collections have been amazing. He's far from one note.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 02:41 (seventeen years ago)
i agree. christian is easily the most talented designer of all the winners.

― Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 18:48 (seventeen years ago)
BUT STILL, i could see claming ignorance if, say, you did the handpainted thing like that with a different silhouette or with the shoulders different but that is practically THE SAME FUCKING DRESS.
― mikebee (BATTAGS), Friday, 17 October 2008 18:56 (seventeen years ago)
i think this has been said already in this thread, but i do think kenley is delusional about the reality of influence. she struck me as not quite right throughout the season.
― horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 18:57 (seventeen years ago)
kenley stand by her statement that she has never seen any of these other collections she bites off of? i mean really? she is just so scary talented and creative that she coincidently came up with these design ideas on her own. come the fuck on.
― Gavin "Spinner" Mason (carne asada), Friday, 17 October 2008 18:59 (seventeen years ago)
i don't think she perceives herself as lying. i think she is crazy.
― horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:00 (seventeen years ago)
I wish the show had gone a little more into her homelife to explain how she got so crazy — there were hints around it — but I guess that's for another type of show entirely. I suspect a 30-second interview with her father would have made her a totally sympathetic character.
― Joe the C.R.E.E.P. Operative (Rock Hardy), Friday, 17 October 2008 19:07 (seventeen years ago)
Actually, given the way influence runs through the fashion world, there is some slight possibility that Kenley is accidentally re-creating things by borrowing "inspiration" from their trickle-down through the general consciousness and other lines and ads and movies and so on. Obviously this would be every bit as much a failing, and it's kinda why you either have to be in or our with this stuff -- either you're a know-nothing "outsider" or you just plain have to pay attention to what's going on so you know your context. (I mean, it's fashion! Kind of the ultimate in arts that involve knowing the flow of trends around you and how your stuff fits into them!)
― nabisco, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:52 (seventeen years ago)
Hahaha fashion and indie-rock, basically
― nabisco, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:53 (seventeen years ago)
I find it somewhat hard to believe the nearly identical McQueen wedding dress was created by accidental inspiration, but you are right about the rest of that, I think.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:54 (seventeen years ago)
To be fair, Kenley puts weird shoulder poofs on everything, loves gardeny florals, and makes a lot of fitted dresses. The print on the Balenciaga has a similar palette but that's about it, print-wise. It's a very different-looking outfit below the shoulders, different neckline, ... also, totally agree that it's better-looking.
I don't want to be cap'n save a ho (c. Michael Knight), I just think her work can be taken on its own merits, and a lot of it is very nice.
― polyphonic, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:59 (seventeen years ago)
just to be clear, it's her failure to acknowledge this that makes her seem insane to me. among other things, of course.
― horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 20:00 (seventeen years ago)

― ○◙i shine cuz i genital grind◙○ (roxymuzak), Friday, 17 October 2008 20:50 (seventeen years ago)
guys, leanne won because she actually designed an entire LINE of clothes rather than just a series of dressed -- despite the fact that she had a very strong, maybe even overpowering visual theme, she had the most variety of the TYPE of garments she was showing. kenley and korto went with the "OMG i can make a million dresses" route while leanne had a lot of tasteful separates that could be easily mixed
P.S. for some reason i was NUTS over the fans korto's models flapped on the runway, it was a great little touch that added a whole lot of atmosphere to the collection
― playing the abortion card (elmo argonaut), Friday, 17 October 2008 21:13 (seventeen years ago)
polyphonic, you are forgetting that they were both hand-painted. It's a pretty crazy coink-i-dink.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 21:13 (seventeen years ago)
and oh, can we talk about the runway music? kenley's runway music was wicked dumb guitar shit and so totally out of wack with her collection, korto had some nicely appropriate fela kuti shit and leanne had some weird squarepusher vibe going on that really fit A+
― playing the abortion card (elmo argonaut), Friday, 17 October 2008 21:15 (seventeen years ago)
yeah i loved korto's music. i would basically have korto's babies.
― horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 21:16 (seventeen years ago)
I thought Korto's collection was the best and Kenley's was the worse, there was a couple definite klunkers and no one really wears avant-garde clothes.
Anyone know what Leanne's music was?

ok, re balenciaga - s/s 09 show was at the same time as the pr runway show... unless she had spies months in advance, how whould she know balenciaga would show that dress?and like someone else said, it was a very kenley fabric and she uses those sleeves a lot. not that her wedding dress was original in any way...
korto was robbed. sorry, i have been saying since early on i do not get leanne's petal bullshit. her collection did not impress me. i think the reason korto's items speak to me is what nina said - that she can design for a wide range of sizes to make a woman look good. i think that's important. kenley's was very well-done, i thought, too, but i just really liked the overall feel of korto's.

she knows how to cut. i guess her clothes are rather conservative & you can see she used to work at ralph lauren, but.. it seems like if you bought one of her better pieces it would fit properly & be flattering and well constructed with a good, proportional silhouette. i thought siriano & some others use a lot of .. foof to cover up the fact that they aren't as good at that. (it really annoys me about trendy clothing lines when stuff cost a couple hundred dollars new, but for the quality/fit/material, you might as well go to h&m or zara. just saying. i wandered in a consignment shop @ georgetown today (found a fab cashmere vneck sweater for $18, perfect shade of very very very pale blush pink) & they had a cardigan from vince which doubtless cost about $300 new, had prob been worn for only 1 year, and it looked like trash.)
