here let's see if it's still possible to have a non stfu douche thread

El Tomboto, Thursday, 31 July 2008 21:45 (seventeen years ago)

it's too fucking hot out

Mr. Que, Thursday, 31 July 2008 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, that's not helping matters any

dell, Thursday, 31 July 2008 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

oi-oi

banriquit, Thursday, 31 July 2008 21:47 (seventeen years ago)

benriquit whatever happened to all those james bond polls we were going to do
we dropped the ball

El Tomboto, Thursday, 31 July 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)

word. i think, tactically, if we did a horndog bond poll first, it would get the ball rolling. maybe table it till the 'QoS' promo gets going. or would it be white noise then?

banriquit, Thursday, 31 July 2008 21:53 (seventeen years ago)

no I think blowing it all up when QOS starts getting more mention than just "jack white and alicia keys lol," we could inspire some more people to buckle down and watch them all again

El Tomboto, Thursday, 31 July 2008 22:11 (seventeen years ago)

george lazenby was the best bond.

i'm just kidding. i can't even bring myself to sit through bond films, for whatever perverse reason

dell, Thursday, 31 July 2008 22:13 (seventeen years ago)

do you like dirty harry movies at least

El Tomboto, Thursday, 31 July 2008 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

actually my week has kind of been shitty. i've felt confused, and unproductive. i'll have to change that tonight.

Surmounter, Thursday, 31 July 2008 22:56 (seventeen years ago)

do you like dirty harry movies at least

yes! and charles bronson films, too.

Surmounter, sorry to hear that. I can pretty much guarantee you that you've been more productive then me this week, though! And my confidence level has swung to a regrettably-low ebb over the past few days, which needs to be remedied, as well. So, hey.

dell, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:00 (seventeen years ago)

shitty week of women being ridiculous and unreasonable and ridiculous in every corner of my life

nickalicious, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:02 (seventeen years ago)

it's MILLER TIME

nickalicious, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:02 (seventeen years ago)

I wish I had a sol

Edward III, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:25 (seventeen years ago)

Somebody told me a story about a friend of theirs waiting tables here in Raleigh. Whether it's true or a joke, I dunno.

So this particularly rural-looking couple comes in and is seated, waiter takes drink orders and the dude ask for a "mer loT". Waiter says, "Uh, so... the red wine, then?" Wife starts giggling hysterically and says, "he wants a Miller Lite."

Kerm, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:26 (seventeen years ago)

i have been playing a lot of basketball drinking a lot of beer & watching lots of baseball & movies

i must confess, its been a great week!

deeznuts, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:29 (seventeen years ago)

If your parents are going out of town this weekend, we're throwing a party at your house.

Kerm, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:36 (seventeen years ago)

love u all, my week's going pretty well actually.

strgn, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)

house party!

Surmounter, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:42 (seventeen years ago)

ha! if only. i feel shitty for calling someone i don't know a bitch, especially when i usually value her posts, so if that person's reading, i'm really sorry!

strgn, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

boiling hot and humid with no air conditioning or cable TV, waiting for school to start with no job, all friends are busy with their jobs. a recipe for fun.

burt_stanton, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)

shitty fucking week

sleep, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

this week was rough starting but seems to be getting better as it nears its end. still, i am pissed that i have to choose between gay-ecstasy-warehouse-party and Juan Atkins tomorrow night.

tonight, though, to Aunt Charlie's for drinks and boys.

the table is the table, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

i have had a headache many days, though, and definitely have some weird shit goin on with my eyelids....eyelid spasms? fucking weird.

the table is the table, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:52 (seventeen years ago)

aw geez, guys, sorry.

yeah, this week suuuucks

dell, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:53 (seventeen years ago)

Decapitated guy on a Grayhound in Canada has had a worse week than any of you.

Oilyrags, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:56 (seventeen years ago)

last week's good (cf. WDYLL 'girl making life confusing') doomed me to a week of sinus and chest congestion

or it might have been the three packs of Dunhills I killed between Sunday and Tuesday nights
now going on 42 hours without a cigarette...

milo z, Thursday, 31 July 2008 23:59 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, man, i've smoked more this week than I have in a long time. and i am a "only-smoke-when-i-drink-person". no wonder i feel like my very organs are complaining

dell, Friday, 1 August 2008 00:03 (seventeen years ago)

I've smoked quite a bit this week and tomorrow, my FRIDAY, has been obliterated by a day trip to boston for a vendor demo (plane leaves at 0630 and gets back at 2149 FUCK THIIIIIIIIS) so I have time for like one teensy heineken tonight and then WHUMP
also the one pair of slacks I have that still fit are black and covered in lint

El Tomboto, Friday, 1 August 2008 00:57 (seventeen years ago)

drinking my favorite dry riesling and watching sytycd. not bad. the rest of this week has sucked and tomorrow at work is gonna be awful but i hope things will look up after that bc boss will be gone for a week and a half :D :D

tehresa, Friday, 1 August 2008 01:11 (seventeen years ago)

pouring with rain on my days off, sunny and hot on the days I'm at work = frustrating week

at least it's pissing it down today.

krakow, Friday, 1 August 2008 07:17 (seventeen years ago)

spent 5 hours at customer's house today, trying to suss out how comcast had fucked over their phone lines, came home, went to pub for pints and reading, rode around on bike, stopped by supermarket for bag of popcorn kernels and sixer of coors light tallboys, rode home to pop popcorn and watch doctor who medleys on youtube.

Have to return to customer's house tomorrow afternoon to finish up. Ick.

kingfish, Friday, 1 August 2008 07:37 (seventeen years ago)

Hey, there's an eclipse today, so yeah, there was something in the stars. I have lurched from the doldrums to manic frenzy all week. It has been weird. I blame the weather too. Oh well, laters.

jel --, Friday, 1 August 2008 08:22 (seventeen years ago)

stfu tombot.

chicago kevin, Friday, 1 August 2008 09:01 (seventeen years ago)

i have definitely had a shit shit shit week.

the next grozart, Friday, 1 August 2008 11:42 (seventeen years ago)

avg hottest week of the year has had its poorer moments but has gotten better over time?

gabbneb, Friday, 1 August 2008 11:49 (seventeen years ago)

i have had a reasonably great week despite the humidity nearly killing me. the state of my room is a bit depressing though, total floordrobe, and my body is going to be found buried beneath an avalanche of jiffy bags one of these days

lex pretend, Friday, 1 August 2008 11:56 (seventeen years ago)

plus i've got a really awesome weekend coming up; either parties i know for sure i'll enjoy or actually catching up on sleep (aaah sleep). and now i've invested in afan i will be able to sit at my desk and do writing w/out feeling like i'm going to melt

lex pretend, Friday, 1 August 2008 11:58 (seventeen years ago)

Ive had a shocking week trying to cope with finishing my moving house, running out of time, being constantly exhasted and just wishing it was the fuck finished already.

Trayce, Friday, 1 August 2008 12:04 (seventeen years ago)

dude, tom, don't complain. last couple of nights i didn't sleep much: elisabeth woke up every hour. suxors you know. i'm actually craving for her to wake up at five am again. hah. ah well. shoudln't complain: she's so sweet'n'giggly during the day.

other than that i am missing hubby who's in singapore and RIGHT NOW in borneo. lucky bastard. :-)

stevienixed, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:03 (seventeen years ago)

i always laugh at ppl who say they are tired. when you have had little to no sleep for nine months, then come complaining. THEN i'll give you a shoulder to cry on. :-)

stevienixed, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:04 (seventeen years ago)

Frasier: "Gee, I wish I had a three month old baby so *I* could win every argument!"

Ste, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:12 (seventeen years ago)

only joking!! :)

Ste, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:12 (seventeen years ago)

The dog ate a fucking entire bar of baker's chocolate, so we had to take him to the dog emergency room.

(He's okay, my credit card is not.)

xpost Funny, cause, well, the baby ALWAYS wins. :-)

stevienixed, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:20 (seventeen years ago)

(Christ, never mind me, sleep deprivation makes me even more of a nagging bitch.)

stevienixed, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:20 (seventeen years ago)

I had a good week so stfu douche.

King Boy Pato, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:27 (seventeen years ago)

I'm having a pretty good week. On Monday I found out my step-mum is pregnant so I'm going to have a new sibling in March, I finally finished my paper today (after 14 months coding/writing!), it's my birthday today and I start drinking in two hours.

On the other hand, I got about two hours of useless hot/humid weather sleep last night and I am suffering from a skin breakout after two days wandering around central London at the start of the week.

Interesting times!

caek, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:29 (seventeen years ago)

NRQ, where did you disappear too? Have you been away for months or was I just on different threads?

caek, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:32 (seventeen years ago)

i'm going to a cookout tonight and the mountains tomorrow!

Kerm, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:35 (seventeen years ago)

that sounds perfect!

Surmounter, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:53 (seventeen years ago)

Aside from being poor and putting my back out on Sunday, I've had a lovely week. My new gentleman caller and I shot pool and had a drunken Country sing-along the other night, I've had a great highland class and some good friend time, and I'm beach-bound on the weekend. Life is good if you make it be!

Laurel, Friday, 1 August 2008 13:59 (seventeen years ago)

Assuming life conditions are otherwise normal, at least. Ie no fatal illness or accidents among loved ones, etc.

Laurel, Friday, 1 August 2008 14:00 (seventeen years ago)

i had a shitty week of 'oh god i am pathetic and useless and no one will hire me and i have no skills' and 'oh god i don't understand how anything in this country works and i'm too scared to ride my new bike because i don't understand the road rules'. then i got an email letting me know that my dumb application to a bookstore got me an interview (my dream job at an amazing bookstore), and two local letterpress printers have offered to mentor me.

laurel otm w/ 'life is good if you make it be' - i have loads of good stuff right now, just need to stop being all anxious about every little thing.

Rubyredd, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:35 (seventeen years ago)

Laurel seemed in really good spirits when I saw her. Also looked unusually V V V pretty.

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:46 (seventeen years ago)

I've had a week. And a week it was.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:46 (seventeen years ago)

Yes, normally I'm a hopeless wreck. Wearing a back brace must agree with me.

Laurel, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:48 (seventeen years ago)

Today feels like a penalty work day (yesterday felt like friday)

Trip Maker, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:48 (seventeen years ago)

sooo much aceeeeeidd in my stomach

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:51 (seventeen years ago)

I think what you mean by "V V V pretty" is "was not wearing a bra". But hey, I'll take it.

Laurel, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:54 (seventeen years ago)

Laurel, I was not ogling your chest pillows! I'm offended!!!!

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 1 August 2008 16:59 (seventeen years ago)

This week I (with the aid of several extremely generous friends) busted ass for two nights straight to move my stuff over to my new apartment. Was up until 5 AM on Wednesday cleaning the old place to meet the noon Thursday deadline for being out (per letter dropped under my door by landlord). Called landlord on Thursday to see about dropping off key, etc - his response: "Woah, you're early! I don't have you down for being out for another week!" Stunned silence on my part, then explained about the letter under the door etc. "Huh, must have been a mistake. Well, at least now you can take your time!" TIME WAS ALREADY TAKEN BUDDY.

On the plus side: I love the new place and haven't the slightest pang of regret moving out. You know that feeling where you finish cleaning your apartment after moving out and it actually looks kind of nice and fresh and you're like, man, I kinda wish I wasn't leaving? Yeah, I don't feel that.

Doctor Casino, Friday, 1 August 2008 17:06 (seventeen years ago)

So yeah this week was kinda lame but now THE WEEKEND promises to be just awesome as I set up my new place just how I want it and listen to records and invite people over to show it off and all that.

Doctor Casino, Friday, 1 August 2008 17:07 (seventeen years ago)

also new place has a bathtub where the spigot isn't broken like at the place i just lived for two years taking only showers

Doctor Casino, Friday, 1 August 2008 17:07 (seventeen years ago)

I was a total douche to Surmounter for no reason. Sorry dude, that was totally unnecessary.

quincie, Friday, 1 August 2008 17:41 (seventeen years ago)

thx, that's sweet :)

Surmounter, Friday, 1 August 2008 17:58 (seventeen years ago)

My cell phone died, and for whatever reason my temp agencies always call the cell first.
:^P

j.lu, Friday, 1 August 2008 19:22 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't get the job I spent the past three months assuming I'd get. Also Manny was traded ;_;

G00blar, Friday, 1 August 2008 19:27 (seventeen years ago)

I spent the week talking to my bf about whether we should split, then splitting, then pretending everything was normal, then having an emotional last night/morning before he flew back to the States, then working out how to ship the computer/books/CDs he left at my place by mistake in a rucksack.

ljubljana, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:31 (seventeen years ago)

What was the job G00blar?

ljubljana, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

I got ditched without getting told and then the guy who I got ditched for coincidentally discovers ILX and shows up shooting the breeze. Nice.

I know, right?, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:36 (seventeen years ago)

is this the hangover thread

gbx, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:41 (seventeen years ago)

I had a hellmonth, as I do every July -- working on the biggest work project of the year, with the least flexible deadline. But I just got phone calls this morning that the last two ads are approved, so it's FUCK YOU LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY I'M GETTIN DRONK!!!!!1!!

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:43 (seventeen years ago)

I am allowed to work remotely one day per week, however the laptop I was allocated had a faulty memory stick so I had to drive 27 miles into the office, and lost 4 hours of work.

i also still haven't cleaned my room

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:45 (seventeen years ago)

which thread did this rival show up on, 'I know, right?'

omar little, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

Goddammit BORDERS' WEBSITE IS SO FUCKING SLOW I AM ENRAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEEEEEEDD.. I WIPE MY ASS WITH YER BOOKS

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:48 (seventeen years ago)

Keep yr. receipt.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

"um...they were like this when I got them?"

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

awful week for the most part. got sick as hell at the start of it, fever, chills, did not get better until yesterday morning, still can't eat much. my apartment is a mess & i am stuck completely in indecision mode as far as how/whether to go near some bad drama involving an old friend. my gut is telling me "stay away." it helps to not have a car thus limited options for seeing people a ways out of town.

daria-g, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:52 (seventeen years ago)

I am allowed to work remotely one day per week, however the laptop I was allocated had a faulty memory stick so I had to drive 27 miles into the office, and lost 4 hours of work.

Kind of in the same position except it's 50 miles to work and I no longer have optional telecommute days.

libcrypt, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:52 (seventeen years ago)

FIFTY? jesus tapdancing christ man, I hope you work like, one day a week or something :)

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:53 (seventeen years ago)

Normal 40 hour/week schedule dude. Plus, I have to fly to LA twice a month (from SF).

libcrypt, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

so do you fill up like twice to three times a week, or do you have public transportation?

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

WTF BORDERS I CAN'T USE BORDERS BUCKS TOWARDS MY SHIPPING COSTS OMFG U R THE FUCKING DJFDAGODDAMMIT THIRTY MINUTES JUST TO BUY AN INCANTATION CD

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:55 (seventeen years ago)

My car gets 35mpg reliably, so I fill up 1.5 times per week on average. If I took public transportation, my day would be approximately 3 hours longer, so fuck that.

libcrypt, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:56 (seventeen years ago)

I pay about $200 more per month in gas than I did in 2004.

libcrypt, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:57 (seventeen years ago)

yikes, that's still a lot of filling up. when i was doing fringe festival this summer i was filling up twice a week.

good mpg though. mine doesn't get that much.

we have basically no public transpo here other than the terrible lynx system, and m yfate would be much the same as yours....

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Saturday, 2 August 2008 17:57 (seventeen years ago)

I would have to get the bus to Caltrain in SF, then Caltrain from SF to SJ, whence I'd get the bus to work in Cupertino. Just the caltrain ride takes as long as driving, if not longer, so with layovers and bus stops and whatnot, it's easily 1.5 more hours per direction, probably more.

libcrypt, Saturday, 2 August 2008 18:00 (seventeen years ago)

you know, my week was so-so and then this morning i cleaned the apt, took a shower and lit some candles, and now the rain is cooling things down perfectly.

Surmounter, Saturday, 2 August 2008 18:00 (seventeen years ago)

we ran out of the comfy toilet paper

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Saturday, 2 August 2008 18:01 (seventeen years ago)

i did not get the job i wanted, either, goob. let the commiseration begin!

tehresa, Saturday, 2 August 2008 18:01 (seventeen years ago)

ljubljana, HUGGELZ. go to japan and have a great time. really.

stevienixed, Saturday, 2 August 2008 18:16 (seventeen years ago)

xpost - thanks. If I do hit Japan I will be onto you for love/hate factors so that I can check them out for myself. BTW, was in Belgium the other week enjoying Antwerp and chilling out in Zele. Maybe I should move there instead. Though I got smashed like I haven't done in years, by mistake, on three (3) Westermalles.

ljubljana, Saturday, 2 August 2008 18:32 (seventeen years ago)

Westmalle tripel?

So good, so not available here.

I know, right?, Saturday, 2 August 2008 18:40 (seventeen years ago)

What was the job G00blar?

It was this crazy tutoring position for a teenage kid of a rich family: part-time hours, full-time pay. Would have been absolutely ideal for the transitional year my wife and I have ahead of us. Now back to square one (i.e., fucking classifieds).

G00blar, Saturday, 2 August 2008 18:45 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, Westmalle, sorry. Whether it was tripel I don't know. Couldn't walk straight. Fine fine beer though.

G00blar, transitional-type years are damn hard. I've kind of decided now that if I don't go to Japan I should stop trying to find a job I enjoy and just take the best-paid job I can get in London and enjoy the city and seeing my friends.

ljubljana, Saturday, 2 August 2008 19:08 (seventeen years ago)

3-day migraine this week, guess that counts as shitty? on the other hand it's been balanced.

s1ocki, Saturday, 2 August 2008 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

by good stuff and discovering this

s1ocki, Saturday, 2 August 2008 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

xposts Yeah I might have to switch to the point of view. Still trying to make part-time work somehow so I'll have enough time to try to publish and therefore get the academic job I want next year. Gotta live in the meantime.

The Japan thing--is it an awesome job?

G00blar, Saturday, 2 August 2008 19:28 (seventeen years ago)

Probably a mixture of interesting and frustrating, like most jobs. Fear it would be long hours and I'd let that happen since I'd have no friends there. Govt job, dealing with academics as it happens (but not the humanities kind, at least not often). Not a huge change from what I do now. Speaking of which, the r3se@rch c0unc1ls always need good people... sometimes part time. Location might be a problem though unless you're in the South West - Art$ and human1t13s are in Bristol, most others in Sw1ndon.

ljubljana, Saturday, 2 August 2008 19:39 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, committed to staying in London through at least next June.

G00blar, Saturday, 2 August 2008 19:45 (seventeen years ago)

The trap under my kitchen sink came unattached from my sink. There is also a rat in my apartment. I believe these phenomena are related. Fuckin' plastic plumbing.
