Personally I define "creepy" as "making me need to put a lot of distance between me and that thing because my automatic/instinctive response wd be to climb walls and claw through doors in order to escape current proximity". I try to pay attention when that happens.
― Laurel, Friday, 8 August 2008 15:42 (seventeen years ago)
yeah.. i think of creepy as in "creepy crawly" i.e. like spiders and stuff, they're scary cos you can't see them.
"angry harry" being loud going all guns blazing with some retarded website doesn't seem creepy to me, cos you can hear him coming like miles away

kind of reminds me of the guy who wrote an entire book about the possibility of sex and love with robots, who staunchly denied having any interest in having sex with a robot himself - there's a similar protestation that this is all just about justice, right and wrong - in a public sphere sense - when you just know it's all about some private thing these guys will never talk about or admit to, or even realize themselves, in a million years
― Tracer Hand, Friday, 8 August 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)
What Devlin's trying to say, or should be saying, is that if a woman wants to win a commitment from a man, she needs to signal her faithful commitment to that man. Some of the traditional ways for women to do this were by lovingly cooking the most special food he eats, washing and sewing the most special clothes he wears, and similar. The results were sensual effects that touched most men deeply. Cooking and sewing have lost most of their practical value but none of their symbolic value, where the men are not alpha males (whose commitment in our society is difficult to win by any means) and have not been corrupted by feminism which, not coincidentally, goes far out of its way to disparage these signals of caring commitment.
Far more importantly, though, (and Devlin himself emphasizes this), women, if they want to enter happy marriages rather than enter ones full of miserable jealousy or remain single, must continually send strong signals of their commitment to be faithful. This is now practically impossible to do in the West. The vast majority of modern Western women are such thoroughgoing sluts, or have at least been so influenced in their behavior by their slutty friends to act as if they are, and so cheered on in this by the alpha-male-run mass media and by the legions of beta male dupes of same, that they cannot with any credibility send such signals. Women traditionally could be considered virtuous until proven otherwise, but today you're an idiot to not consider the Western woman a fickle slut unless proven otherwise.
Mate-guarding behavior and fidelity are another set of cultural norms that were once, when the West was monogamous and on the rise, rather than polygamous and in decline, considered the highest virtues, but that the alpha mass media has turned these too into the most despised of beta male traits. Once Christianity, like Islam, instituted the death penalty for female adultery, as well as a wide variety of other legal and informal norms to enforce monogamy and thus make most men see marriage as desirable. Men in the best Western societies made strong investments of time and money in caring for their children, because they were psychologically confident that these were indeed their own children, but this is no longer the case. The rise of the mass media in the West gradually swept these values away until the Hollywood century destroyed them. Now most "Christianity" is really just the claim to believe in Jesus while following the teachings of Hollywood. It bears far less resemblance to the two millenia of Christian teaching upholding monogamy than does modern Islam. Most "Christianity" today is effectively and quite ironically far more polygamous than Islam. It is to Islam or forms of Christianity that are now only historical that we must turn to if we seek a return to monogamy and the preservation of the civilization that monogamy made possible.
Or we can regress to polygamy and barbarity, but this time with lost boys wielding nuclear weapons. Your choice.

A Day With Zeets
August 25, 2008 by roissy
Zeets on game:
Me: [while helping him set up a new TV I belch loudly] BEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLCCCCCHHHH.Zeets: Was that a neg? [imitating me approaching some girls] Hi, I’m Roissy… BEEEELLLLCHHH… haha hey girls that was a neg! You like me now!
Zeets on long distance cockblocking:
Me: So there’s this girl who lives in another country who loves me. She told me a guy hit on her last night and she turned him down by telling him she had an internet lover.Zeets: Wow, that guy must’ve felt like shit. Cockblocked from afar!Me: Yeah, it’s one thing to get cockblocked by another guy in the bar, but to get cockblocked by an internet dude… humiliation!Zeets: A girl who rejects someone by saying “No, I’m in love with a guy on the internet” is a lot worse than “I have a boyfriend.”Me: It’s like saying “Your physical presence can’t even compete with an IM”.
Zeets on blogging:
Zeets: Everyone’s got their little blog now. Get up at 1 in the afternoon, trundle to the store to buy organic hipster meuslix, come back and blog about it. [makes exaggerated typing motion with his hands] Blog, blog, blog. Blogging piglets!
Zeets on the consumer culture:
Zeets: Help me carry out this TV. [we were leaving Best Buy with his new 1,000 inch LCD TV purchase]Me: This is gaudy. You’re rolling out with the biggest package in the place.Zeets: Notice how all eyes are turned towards me. The women are aroused by my display of materialism. [looks over at a middle-aged woman and winks] A big purchase will make you feel like a man and boost your testosterone major.
Zeets on herbs:
“I WANT TO CRUSH THEM ALL.”

Thanks to Game and contraceptives, you can get the sex for free now without the imprisonment of marriage and potential financial and emotional ruin of divorce. The unsuitability of so many self-indulgent modern women for marriage doesn’t help the once-venerable institution’s cause either...
I can tell you right now about 90% of the women I’ve fucked in the past nine months (double digits) were, barring a character transplantation, completely unworthy as marriage material. That is higher than selection effect could reasonably account.

this sums it up pretty much:
XI. Be irrationally self-confidentNo matter what your station in life, stride through the world without apology or excuse. It does not matter if objectively you are not the best man a woman can get; what matters is that you think and act like you are. Women have a dog’s instinct for uncovering weakness in men; don’t make it easy for them. Self-confidence, warranted or not, triggers submissive emotional responses in women. Irrational self-confidence will get you more pussy than rational defeatism.

The problem with the Game (as I understand it from reading the book and speaking to friends - including one who actually leads Game seminars) is that it's designed to snare women who would be attracted to someone using the Game.
― Mordy, Monday, 24 November 2008 23:54 (seventeen years ago)

― deej, Monday, 24 November 2008 23:58 (seventeen years ago)
I wish I could give amazing anecdotes about crazy friend who leads Game seminars. Actually... I do have a few.
Back in college, he used to tell these elaborate (obv. lies) stories about the women he's had sex with. And the joke we used to tell about him is that they all inevitably ended with two Asian chicks and a menstrual cycle. Like, he got a reputation (around an Orthodox Jewish undergraduate school) for just being totally insane. One time my brother talked about buying a cat for the apartment, and this the Game guy admitted that he'd probably end up fingering it.

Anyway, I ended up passing the Game book along to my brother (after the Neil Strauss article in the Voice tipped me off to it) as an object of amusement, and he passed it along to his roommate. i think a lot of the attitude that sends a lot of guys into "running game" arises from mild challops like "men and women can never truly be friends because the dudes just want to sleep with them" and so on. if they embrace that notion, they start to embrace the idea that women aren't to be considered anything other than objects.

Also, I think a lot of these guys are techie self-diagnosed aspergers types (with crazy facial hair) who are probably a little lacking in social skill to begin with. That, coupled with frustration over their virginity = embrace of a mechanical system that can help them get laid.

i'm exaggerating, of course. what i mean is that i'm very reluctant to talk to girls in case they think i'm putting "moves" on them or whatever. it's like they're just trying to have a nice night out with their mates and along comes this chief to harrass them, even if that's not really the case. i'm just very shy in general. every girl i've dated previously has been someone i've met through uni/work/friends/whatever. i've never gotten a number or had a one night stand for a night out, so i have no idea how to do that in the first place, really.

I get the sense this is most everyone, really. It's weird how this whole idea exists that it's some kind of grand thing to be able to consistently pick up strangers in bars, since that strikes me as a semi-rare skill whose most devout male practitioners are a little unpleasant or just drink too much. (No knock on anyone who can or does, but I expect the bulk of straight guys who make a thing of this aren't super-awesome.) I suppose it's the best available practice field and all, but any guy who's really lacking in the ability to make connections with women would be a million times better off learning to talk to them in classes or at people's birthday parties or any of the countless other places where most everyone else accomplishes these things.
― nabisco, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 22:17 (seventeen years ago)
Actually I would exempt "I had a polite conversation with a stranger in a bar, got her number, and we went out later" from that, for the most part, but it's still not the basic route, I don't think -- maybe that mileage varies in places where I've never lived.
― nabisco, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 22:19 (seventeen years ago)
I totally agree with that, I've been with quite many girls, and only once or twice it's been a case of meeting up a total stranger in a bar and going with her. I think when that happens, more often than not it's a case of both participants being very drunk and/or desperate rather than excelling at some weird game of hookup tactics. Of course there are a few individuals who get their kicks from picking up strangers and having sex with them, but it's not like you can find them at every bar.
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 22:52 (seventeen years ago)
I never thought of that but its a good point - I dont think anyone much, male or female, meets people this way often do they? My last bf admittedly I did meet at a club, but it was friend of friend intro and then we chatted heaps, so no pickup lines there. Everyone else I've dated has been a friend, workmate or erm... I met them online heh.
― Trayce, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 01:54 (seventeen years ago)
And in fact I bet I'm not alone having had more than a few intros via online means (be they forums, IRC, or deliberate online dating).

― omar little, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 02:38 (seventeen years ago)
^me in my 30s, much more than before that.
It's not about picking up anyone, chatting up people, being on the pull. But you get talking to people in bars, and quite quickly you know if you've got anything much to talk about, and then the stranger-ness plus a bit of drink does make it easier for you or them to say "Hey, you wanna come home with me?" and it's nice and no big deal. It's much harder to say that to anyone you meet in other circumstances - that feels like a more serious invitation. And half the time I end up going home with people I didn't even kiss in the bar yet, and I don't even know if it's gonna end up in sex, and sometimes it doesn't.
Anyway the main test of whether anything further is gonna develop is not the night itself but the morning after, and every single time I've gone home with a stranger it's been lovely in the morning, easy times, nice breakfast, neither one's got anything invested yet, but still...
So many times I've woken up with an acquaintance, a friend, a flatmate, a classmate and felt STRESS STRESS STRESS, but never with a stranger. Strangers are lovely.
― Eyeball Kicks, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 03:06 (seventeen years ago)
What do you all think about the social acceptability and commonness of meeting people in bars vs. meeting people online? Both seem less common than random introduction through friends, family, coworkers, etc., but I wonder whether the internet is starting to be seen at the same level as bars.
― Maria, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 03:24 (seventeen years ago)
Second, if you find yourself in a situation where the woman gives you hints of not being that into you, ie low interest level, then save yourself time and money and get out. No amount of flowers, mixed tapes or CDs with love songs, fancy dinners etc will fix that and “make” her like you. In fact these techniques do just the OPPOSITE.
Unlike what your mommy told you, this technique has no basis in logic. Most women want a challenge, they don’t want a nice guy pushover. Even though Oprah says that women want men to open up to them, women don’t want this. They would rather have a guy bend them over a table and fuck them in the ass than a nice guy getting them flowers. Sure women love flowers, and there are proper times to get them, just not how most men have been brainwashed into believing.
I will compare woman here to a young child, since today’s feminasties have basically regressed to this mental state.

Biblical womanhood is not a "white thing." When we get letters that claim this, we can only shake our heads. Scripture clearly teaches we are all of "one blood"--the only race is the human race (Acts 17:26). To say emulating the godly standards of Scripture is "white" is insulting to people of all colors. You are not a better Christian if you are white. To believe so is to deny our common heritage in Eden. LAF has black, hispanic, and Asian writers, but we don't screen people for skin color or keep a quota system. We're all sisters.

A lot of issues raised by second wave feminism - such as sexual rights, body issues, gay and lesbian rights, social and informal discrimination, sexual harassment, etc - have become an accepted part of public discourse, and some of them have been coded into various legislations too, so I wouldn't say 60s/70s feminism "failed catastrophically".

Here is the deal, from someone who works as security(bouncer) at a restaurant/bar. While you may absolutely be in the right(sounds like you were), you are still on private property, and must leave immediately when told to do so. I have to tell people all of the time, that, as soon as I tell them to leave, they are trespassing. I don't have to let them get their stuff. I don't have to let them close their tab first. When I tell them to leave, it's time to go. I'll get them their stuff once they are outside. It's that simple. That's why the cops showed up.
Now, as far as your situation goes, it's probably not worth the legal fees. I would recommend that you find new gym(if that doesn't go without saying), and probably file a report with the Better Business Bureau or something. That is why I hate large gyms. Too many women who think everyone is checking them out(even though they are wearing small shorts, with their tits popping out of their shirt), and douche bags with cut-off sleeves, wearing hats that match their shoes.
man that's the kicker isn't it

What a weird story, I can understand someone being thrown out of a public facility after being unfairly accused of sexual harassment - all someone has to do (sometimes) to get someone thrown out of a bar or gym is complain to management - but something about this elaborate story seems false.
I think it's the way the whole gym taunted the guy, this isn't normal crowd behavior. Usually when there is a public conflict, people act like they don't see or hear it and don't want to get involved at all (which says something far more depressing about humanity).

wasn't sure where else to put this but we had a few expecting mothers who needed somewhere they could pump milk, since it's kind of an annoying thing to have to go sit on a toilet and do it. We have an empty floor in our other building so they set up a cubicle with a lockable door on it with a sign 'Women's Privacy Room, Please Knock.'
My coworker goes over to that floor and does a few laps walking on his break, and I've walked with him a few times and he seriously cannot walk past that sign without saying something about it, like 'wonder when they'll have a men's privacy room'.
Raaagh. Dude. If you asked for one, they'd probably set one up for you. Do you feel threatened by the sign on the door that says 'Staff Only' at a restaurant. I mean, are we talking general exclusion or is it just women. Drives me fucking batshit.

The way society is organized at the moment, we have no choice but to blame men for bad behavior. If we allowed men to act like unrestrained horny animals, all hell would break loose. All I’m saying is that society has evolved to keep males in a state of continuous unfulfilled urges, more commonly known as unhappiness. No one planned it that way. Things just drifted in that direction.

Long term, I think science will come up with a drug that keeps men chemically castrated for as long as they are on it. It sounds bad, but I suspect that if a man loses his urge for sex, he also doesn’t miss it. Men and women would also need a second drug that increases oxytocin levels in couples who want to bond. Copulation will become extinct. Men who want to reproduce will stop taking the castration drug for a week, fill a few jars with sperm for artificial insemination, and go back on the castration pill.

Consider Hugh Hefner. He had every benefit of being a single man, and yet he decided he needed to try marriage. Marriage didn’t work out, so he tried the single life again. That didn’t work out, so he planned to get married again, although reportedly the wedding just got called off. For Hef, being single didn’t work, and getting married didn’t work, at least not in the long run. Society didn’t offer him a round hole for his round peg. All it offered were unlimited square holes.

the idea that modern western "society is organized as a virtual prison for men’s natural desires," seems to be a hugely popular idea, at least on the internet. comes in lots of flavors too:
"Marriage is a prison constructed by useless women to entrap and defraud capable men." (hi, jay!)"Feminized society wants to shame and eradicate all healthy male sex/rape urges." (hi, scott! and jay!)"Western women have been ruined by feminism. You should really marry an Asian. They know how to please a man." (hi, michel!)
fake quotes, btw...
this shit is everywhere. baffles me a little, since i've known lots of dumbass guys over my life, but very few who've ever voiced these sorts of ideas. their popularity seems in large part to be a product of the internet. which perhaps suggests that a lot of guys have secretly felt this way for quite some time, but previously lacked a proper (anonymous) forum in which to vent their anxieties? or else the increasingly open sexual and economic playing field is bringing the crazy out, some combination of the two. in any event, it's weird as hell and freaks me out a little.

oh god yes, them too. and guys who love to quote stories of grotesque violence and sexual abuse perpetrated by women in an attempt to "prove" that women are far more dangerous than men, and that the disproportionate incarceration rate for males therefore = massive conspiracy & oppression. don't know how common that is, really, but i once wound up arguing with a couple such guys on another board (regrets, i've had a few). would have chalked them up as random crazies, but they kept referring me to bogus info sites, suggesting that there are others out there with similar ideas.

What did Weiner do? I'm not making excuses for it. Do not misunderstand me here. But these feminists, liberal women have feminized politics to such a degree that politicians, male politicians can't even be men, which may explain why politicians as a group are often caught in these sex scandals. um, no, because conservative/christian/antifeminist women are at least equally outraged by such behavior.
plus, i don't think anyone really believes that this sort of thing is extraordinarily prevalent among politicians. it's just that their private lives are more visible than most, their careers entirely depend on soliciting the respect and admiration of others, and the consequences for misbehavior are therefore dramatic.

One internet prankster conducted a little experiment that proved pretty clearly just how unexceptional this sort of rhetoric is in the manosphere, posting an assortment of misogynist quotes from Breivik's manifesto (all of them taken originally from Fjordman) to Reddit's Men's Rights forum – without identifying them as being from Breivik.Despite – or perhaps because of – the blatant misogyny, the post initially received numerous upvotes and some positive comments ("Nice post man") from the regulars. Once it was revealed that the quotes had come from Breivik's manifesto, the downvotes and critical comments began to stack up. (I wrote about the incident here.)

From hand drawn diagrams of female anatomy to kissing lessons behind the big tree after school, she turned a rag tag group of D&D geeks into a… well, if not exactly sexy, smooth players, at least slightly more confident teenage boys.

contenderizer otm, although my shitty small-town high school gave out similar "unofficial" awards after the real senior awards, until the practice was finally stopped by the new superindendent in 1997. But, up to that point, it was completely school sanctioned. Awards like "biggest loser", "least likely to succeed", "worst at sports", etc etc were handed out.

Alternatively, the manhood that has been 'lost' or is what ... 'actually' their idealised fathers?
Daddy is a magic man with unlimited power --> person realises this isn't the case, your actual daddy was not this and you don't get to be this when you grow up --> person can't handle this so assumes that magic powerful man must still exist somewhere, just he's been imprisoned by feminists?

im an inveterate optimist but i tend to think that if reactionary forces are reverting to this kind of calcified opposition then, while they are scary and potentially violent, that means the that status quo is very definitely threatened or evaporating right before them (or at least evolving into some other form that is not yet fully visible). they're circling the wagons.

multiple xps but Frank TJ Mackey (Cruise's character in Magnolia) is based on this guy (check out his blog at seduction dot com) and imo the whole seduction/PUA community tends to feed into a lot of mra rhetoric too, with its simplistic understanding of women and positioning of them as things to be won rather than people to be engaged with.

Give 'em nine months and the MRA types will merge with the open-carry movement and most businesses will prevent them from coming in the door.

there are a shit ton of these folks all over youtube, as well. if you hate yourself a lot on a particular night, do a search for "misandry" on youtube and be treated to thousand of horrible 'video blogs'.

If these dudes were openly stomping around grasping their twanger in public as some sorta statement, then at least you'd be able to spot them from like 50m off and could steer a wide berth.
Or plow into them, I guess, depending on what you were driving.

Somehow I just ran across this twitter feed
https://twitter.com/SnuffPornRing?lang=en
I just don't get humanity really. This is what his feed consists of:
* stuff about hockey* calling a music reviewer a "cuck" for not reviewing the Strokes EP* replying to random women far away from his city (Ottawa) when they post about hockey, asking if they want to have a "makeout sesh"* calling those women ugly and dumb bitches on the rare occasions they reply to say "um no" to his suggestion of a "makeout sesh"* use of the hashtag #jewshyster, and the phrase "Eastern-Euro ashkenazi mutts" refers to Jill Stein and Bernie Sanders as "jew eurotrash assholes"* calling somebody else a "slutty piece of anti-israel jew-hatting america-hating filth"* much praise for trump
also he is a standup comic, bet he's great

i think about this thread a lot, in light of these people taking over the world

I keep hoping this is their last impotent gasp, that it'll all collapse before they do too much lasting damage, because they're generally sad, incompetent psychos/sociopaths.
But then again, they got this far.

it's true. when this thread first appeared i remember thinking 'wow, there are committed anti-feminists out there?' (as opposed to people who are just ignorant and misogynistic). but now it's a thing, it's a big movement. what i had originally assumed was the past-time of just a few butthurt weirdos with a bee in their bonnets is now part of mainstream discussion. and that's happened in just 8 years.
