The a/c went out and I don't know why but we're in traffic somewhere near cranbury and not even on the interstate.

Now the woman is sitting behind me to be away from the driver. It appears she may have been calling him names like 'dumbass' for going out of the way (he took some fucked up route) to her friend on the phone. He got mad, she is pissed that he was 'eavesdropping' on her conversation and that people should be able to say whatever they want to say and that he should 'show some more professionalism.'

Now we are stuck in traffic again and watching a movie called 'dirty laundry'.

Having used Megabus on both sides of the Atlantic it is amazing how superior the American version is, apart from the bad movies that blare out at you.

Seriously, going around the New Jersey turnpike at 7.45am on a Monday morning and the driver decides to put Speed on at maximum volume.

This movie had a character asking a cab driver to turn on the a/c in the opening scene and the whole bus just kinda groaned.

lol i once took a (greyhound) bus from dc to pittsburgh that began by heading south to alexandria, then got on the beltway. then the driver got off at tyson's corner and asked us if anyone knew how to get to pittsburgh. which i did, so i directed him for the next 250 miles.

It is a hell bus. Also the top emergency exit holes are open for air which either makes the sun blind people or makes super annoying noises whenever we go faster than 10 mph, which is rare.

I get cravings for beef jerky but chewing the really dry stuff makes my jaw hurt like mad which then leads to a headache. This makes jerky a mixed blessing imo but a blessing nonetheless.

Went on a bus trip once to the Upper Peninsula of MI during which we stopped at like an Indian Trading Post(probably tm) that sold smoked whitefish. It was delicious. The bus smelled like a hunting camp after that.

Hard not to speculate that the big operators pushed for this action, but at the same time, the chinatown buses were somewhat shady.

I guess I believe in theory that people should have basic protections whether they like them or not, and I feel like it's prob the case that the curbside services overbalanced on "value vs safety" a while ago. But otoh, omg how dare people contract for a service they desire at the price they desire, even accounting for statistically insignificant risks that are probably the same as letting your 18-yo cousin drive you to the supermarket?

i took a c'town bus to pittsburgh before xmas -- at the harrisburg stop (a chinese restaurant in a strip mall on the outskirts), the pa state cops were waiting and did a 30-minute inspection of lights, tires, etc.

they eventually let us go on, but i never learned if we had passed or if had to pay a fine or something. anyway i suppose it's been in the works for a while

This particular route is an Express route where you buy a ticket but you don't actually show it to the driver. You just board using any of the 3 doors. Occasionally the police step on and check for tickets and some people get in trouble.
