just to fill in the blanks, this is a "free house" garden party called by my youngest brother (16) to mark my oblivious parents' 2-day seaside vacation. socially insecure, i fear he's doing it to prove himself, and that he may be getting a little more than he bargained for
― Just got offed, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 11:37 (seventeen years ago)
Are you going to be present? Will you be turning away people at the door? Wouldn't tomorrow, when the kids get their GCSE results, be a better day for a party?
― Scik Mouthy, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 11:38 (seventeen years ago)
Has he put an open invite on MySpace? I hear that's what all the cool kids are doing these days. You should suggest it to him.

There are still some gaps in the scene setting. How much booze is there in the kitchen? What is the most breakable and/or valuable object in your front room? Is your brother hoping to get poppagey with anyone in particular?

OK, important newsflash: I just had a word with him and it turns out that yes, they're meant to be coming today, BUT he might well call the whole thing off because his two older siblings have strongly suggested it's a bad idea.
Remains to be seen whether people turn up regardless, but this looks like it might be a washout. Sorry, ILX. Maybe spend this thread speculating on what might have happened?

louis and siblings released from custody. constable mcbastard aggrieved that he could only remove half his truncheon from louis's anus. emergency services express "surprise" that there is no trace left at all of louis's house or indeed street. several neighbours still wandering naked, blank-eyed and scorched, through the acrid chemical smoke.

The central fallacy of that advert is that the random dude and hot girl would stick around to clear up as opposed to going for breakfast/going to the pub/getting the fuck out of there as quickly as possible.

― tehresa, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 12:51 (seventeen years ago)
TBH it was more the middle brother who put him straight. He's not scared of me. In fact, he's pretty conscientious himself, and he was probably having his own doubts, considering that neither me nor middle bro actually told him straight-up "don't do it".
It was more of a gathering than a party, altho I don't know where to draw the distinction.

Turns out that J4gger III pulled out of the party primarily because he had a WOW raid scheduled for today. Pathetic.
If there's something we've learnt today, though, it's that you don't need other people to have a great party! You just need your own family, and your own family's love.
Now we gotta split the Domino's. This is fkn war.

I learned to differentiate between "American Pizza" and "actual proper pizza" at a young age, so shit doesn't bother me. Although if we're going for the former, PJ's over Dominos every time.
For the latter, if Jagger Bros live in an area of London covered by Lupa (http://www.lupapizza.co.uk/index2.html), he shoulda hit them up. They do proper stone oven shit, nice use of rosemary.

I think they get back tomorrow morning.
Could liveblog my brother's GCSE results; they're pretty good. But instead, more pizza refutation. My two siblings are a) extremely lazy, and b) had the food money. Hence Domino's.
Our order was simply two large meat feasts, one with pizza sauce and one with BBQ, and nine pots of garlic sauce.
Would smash Lupa but I'm Saarf Landan aren't I, may try and drag kin to Zero Degrees today. If my middle brother even returns from his overnight "excursion". He has a history of doing bizarre things like going to Manchester without telling anyone.
And Dom, we drink water, milk and fruit juice, none of this Fanta stuff!

He's actually far more a scientist than me. I'll update you on his academic progress; he's a bit lazy but hopefully his results (2 A*, 7 A, 1 C in "Fine Art" lolz) will spur him onto a more hardworking mindset.
F3rg, you're forgetting the pate de chav gras side-order

full marks in english lit is probably nothing to be sniffed at. they give out full marks in maths like candy though. i got them for a start, and I was an idiot when I was 16.
lol C in fine art. that was my nemesis too, got a B (which was an improvement over the F I got in the mock). didn't take that subject entirely seriously.
― caek, Thursday, 21 August 2008 13:07 (seventeen years ago)
There's a Fine Art GCSE now? In my day there was just Art, and it was a fucking piece of piss to get an A. Technology was the subject which was everyone's bugbear, and which everyone got a rubbish mark in (I got my only sub-B mark in it, a D).
― chap, Thursday, 21 August 2008 13:10 (seventeen years ago)
Hmm. Well, his other A* was in Religious Studies, which he's also not taking for A-level. His A-levels, in fact, are Geography, History, Biology and Maths, which leaves his options for afterwards pretty open.
My other brother got a D in Art, at Westminster too. We are not the greatest set of draughtsmen you've ever seen, possibly!
Electronics is the only exam I've run out of. That was the year before GCSEs and I was able to drop it, thank heavens.
― Just got offed, Thursday, 21 August 2008 13:14 (seventeen years ago)
They give out the % these days? Back in my day you just got your grade and that was it, none of this luxurious percentages and telling you what position you came in. No A stars either, new fangled rubbish.
I got a B in Technology though.
― Colonel Poo, Thursday, 21 August 2008 13:17 (seventeen years ago)

strongly recommended to me by a barmaid who was all 'it combines my two favourite things, pizza and curry! it's great!' and then seconded by a friend's gf who ate one in my presence and assented to aforesaid praise.

this is one of the best posts ever <3 bro
erm he basically got really scarily thin and had a haircut and is shortly off to university where his life will be chaotic
that pizza wasn't inedible but it certainly wasn't the priceless bijou of culinary perfection i'd been led to believe it was. in fact it was *incredibly* un-pizza-like...that was what got me
― kevision questler (country matters), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 18:54 (sixteen years ago)
yeah, the indian pizzas I've had are not pizza-like, but they are sufficiently non-indian-food-like to be this not-very-good thing. It's kinda like some movies that include a lot of things that I would like, but combined are unsastifying and actually annoying.
― what happened? i am confused. (sarahel), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 18:57 (sixteen years ago)
see LJ from what you have said on here about pizza before, i would assume that "incredibly un-pizza-like" would connote things like "made of basalt" or "stuffed with newspaper"

― what happened? i am confused. (sarahel), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 19:04 (sixteen years ago)
well but that is because totinos pizza rolls are awesome as long as you think of them as not related to actual pizza
― A DOG, A BARREL... RIDICULOUS! (jjjusten), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 19:25 (sixteen years ago)

― A DOG, A BARREL... RIDICULOUS! (jjjusten), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 19:50 (sixteen years ago)
they have no real application to my giant world view, so

― A DOG, A BARREL... RIDICULOUS! (jjjusten), Wednesday, 9 September 2009 19:51 (sixteen years ago)
no i mean, what happens when you put on your pants and discover pizza in your pockets

what then Mr. man
ergo "pizza pockets"
you could be a benevolent giant who helps construct enormous public works projects, including a huge oven, and in symbiotic fashion, the villagers occasionally bake you a great pile of sausage and cheese in a rolled up sheet of flat bread.

If you take into account their relative ponderousness then Giggs is to British rap what Ultrasound were to 90s indie.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 9 September 2010 15:53 (fifteen years ago)
hahahaha it's take no prisoners day!
I've had the ticket for 3 months. Stay Young is their big single, most of their music is way more complex and clusterfucked than that. They're big Cardiacs fans too! This is how I roll, sorry.

Poll options should be:
- Bestival - Ultrasound reunion gig - Giggs - Radiography conference - Franz Liszt in 1852 - Staying in and watching Peggy Mitchell die in a fire
Leaning towards the last option.

the funny thing is when i finally moved to north london everyone was like "you'll love how quick it is to get into town" but the west end etc take just as long to get to as a quick skip on the overground and then some tubeage

there is certainly a lot of tubeage available in the west end.

On 2 November 2006, Carr, together with advertising copy-writer friend Lucy Greeves, released a book called The Naked Jape (the U.S. version, re-titled Only Joking, was released on 21 September 2006), a discussion of the art and history of joking.
