the butter-on-the-paws thing works on the premise that cats will only clean themselves if they're comfortable/not threatened ['cause it leaves them vulnerable to attack]. so the butter sorta...induces them to wash earlier. doesn't necessarily make the cat feel any more settled - that's an old wives' tale.

just make sure he has plenty of drinking water under there, try to restrain the dog to another part of the house, and don't subject its hypersensitive wee ears to frightful hippy jams!

i got omen, boys don't cry, and er wild things (that one for pure trash value, of course), and i got nachoes and salsa. but i didn't end up watching any of the vids, cos some cute movie about female bonding with lezzo undercurrents was on tele when i got home.
