Blondes vs. Brunettes

Which do you prefer. This should be less traumatic than fat vs. skinny. And no rogue ginger fans please, just answer the question: blond(e)s or brunettes?

Emma, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I really couldn't care less. Both are wonderful. I never understood the gentlemen prefer blondes thing. I do tend to fall in love more with brunettes, but that could just be becuase there are more of them. Sudden thought: not a big fan of dirty blonde hair. If it's gonna be blonde, it's gotta be flaxen.

Nick, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have the curious mental image of Nick turning down a queue of amorous "dirty blondes" and saying "Sorry gals, but IT'S GOT TO BE FLAXEN".

Louise Brooks > Joanne Catherall > Kate Beckinsale = Brunettes

stevie t, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

tends to be brunettes mostly

gareth, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am trying to cover all bases by having brown hair but with blonde highlights. But I think it just confuses boys. I don't generally go for blond men for the same reason I don't go for other girls i.e. they have a physical attribute I am jealous of which gets in the way. There aren't that many blond men around, come to think of it. Why is that?

Emma, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Not fussy at all on this one. Or on whether collar and cuffs match.

alex thomson, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Grrrrr-eat.

I have naturally dirty dishwater blonde hair, but I dye it light yellow. So there.

And on boys, since I'm not allowed to say that the thing that utterly drives me mad is RED HAIR (the redder and more unnatural looking the better, dyed is PERFECT) I will throw my lot in on the blond side. Though I prefer dirty or streaky blond to the really white, flaxen nordic style.

Kate the Saint, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Red hair on women = rowr. Red hair on men = neutral. Otherwise heading towards the dark haired side of things.

Richard Tunnicliffe, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm indifferent to hair colour on other people, but on me blonde hair is the best.

Ed, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

black hair's cool though.

Ed, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I will NEVER be a blonde. On me it just looks wrong, I'm too pale. But my Bowie Casualty thing means blond, skinny men have a certain appeal.

suzy, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Suzy, sadly I am a natural blonde... and pale. I look like a frigging light buld in pictures. The worst time was when my friend told me a stupid blonde - joke. I just looked at her wondering if she realized it was lost on me. She probably thought I didn't understand it.
I prefer brunettes.

nathalie (nathalie), Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am blond and in the summer it goes very light so people accuse me of using the filthy hair dye thing. Or Jason Donovan's lemon.

I tend to look longer at brunettes (I'm all for genetic diversity) but I don't mind blondes either., Its just that if I'm out with a blonde people either think we are Scando's or Arayan Master Race plotters. Anyone who uses Johnson's Baby Shampoo is a goddess in my book.

Pete, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am the anomaly in my family as ALL mother's side are blonde to varying degrees, with massive blue or green eyes, and they're the relatives I see regularly (I look just like French/Scots-Irish fashionista grandmere on dad's side). I suspect if I let the dye go I would find paler hair than I remember (she says, racing to the Loreal).

suzy, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am the family anomaly too as my mum has very dark hair and eyes like my brother, my dad had (he is now bald) dark dark hair and grey eyes and I have light brown hair and blue eyes. Luckily my insane grandpa has blue eyes so I think I am not the milkman's. A girl once told me I was wrong because people with blue eyes must have blonde hair. Mentalist.

Emma, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Emma's mother is Syrian which explains her colouration.

Pete, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

there was a very strange colouration story on popbitch this morning about someone from Depeche Mode, unfortunately I've trashed it.

cabbage, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I believe it related to Mr Dave Gahan who has a black dick because his father is black. What a fantastic chat up line

"You know my father is black. Well I got one piece of my anatomy from him..."

Almost definately a lie.

Pete, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

As is the Emma's mum is Syrian thing. She is Stamford Hill through and through. Leave it out Baran.

Emma, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

small mark s had golden hair (says my mum and the surviving photographic evidence): this is no longer so.

generally fancied colour? Dark: dark as the mouth of hell, black, black, black as the crow of misery which plucks at and pecks and scars [etc...]

mark s, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But what if you DO like red better? I only like myself as a redhead though, no one else should have it.

To answer the question, on women I don't have a hard fast preference on hair color; if it looks good, it looks good. I won't date men with hair lighter than light brown though. Can't deal with blonde.

Ally, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Stevie: Louise Brooks, brunette?

Surely the boring, general, practical answer is that it doesn't matter - there are too many other factors involved. None of us will ever face a straight choice between two potential lovers who are identical save that one is blonde and one brunette. (None of us save Nick D.)

I think that I may be ungenerously misinterpreting the question, though. Perhaps the question is saying, abstractly, in an ideal world, which do you prefer? In which case I think I might stuick my neck, or something, out, and say, Blonde.

the pinefox, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have dark hair, blonde eyebrows, green eyes. All thru life people ask me if I bleach my eyebrows. A: no!!! Preference in gurls: def. notice blondes first tho not overly fussed; the cut counts more than colour. No fan of red, howeva Asian chix who dye their hair red, or rather that orangey colour, are cute.

AP, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

OK then, which cut do you prefer? Long or short? Fringe or not? I know a lot of blokes do prefer long hair in theory but come unstuck on the grim reality i.e. it gets everywhere. And some who think short is cuter.

Emma, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Again, I don't care as long as the cut looks good. I don't like super short on girls but it can look good done right. I DON'T like long on men though.

On myself, I wish it was longer than it is now.

Ally, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I refer you to my answers I gave in the Girl Hair Dos and Don'ts thread. Yawn! Am I to be the ILE thread linking bore too? Can't I have a little helper?

Nick, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

DARK HAIR is godly. Nothing beats a sweeping main of rave-colored hair or a cute little brunette bob.

Dan Perry, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am far too busy keeping my perfectly manicured finger on the pulse of high street fashion to check back through past threads.

Emma, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Only dark hair does it for me.

Sean, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

So, Sean and Dan - would you actually go so far as asking / demanding that a sexual partner put a wig on / dye it if their hair was the wrong colour? This has not happened to me but I did read a letter to Dear Deirdre along similar lines once.....

Emma, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I hate red hair. It look s liek clown hair. and whats with these Kogaru Jaanese gilrs dyeing their hair puke colored yellow?

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

So, Sean and Dan - would you actually go so far as asking / demanding that a sexual partner put a wig on / dye it if their hair was the wrong colour?

Depends on the situation, doesn't it? I mean, if you're just going for some good lovin', hair color ceases to be a turn-on. However, if you're doing some type of freak-nasty roleplay thing, costumes may be necessary. (Having said all that, I've never asked a woman to dye her hair for me. God, I'm boring.)

Dan Perry, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gimmie a cute brunette with a pixie cut and I'm there. Altho the blonde with the pixie cut on the Real World is pretty cute... maybe it's just coz she's a virgin.

JM, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't mind. Look at me, being a diplomat.

DG, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Emma: it's an easy answer, I wouldn't *have* a blonde as a *partner*, because I wouldn't have been attracted to him in the first place. So no, I wouldn't *make* anyone dye their hair, that's creepy. Very James Stewart in "Vertigo".

That said, I don't think blondes are ugly or anything, and I don't rule out the possibility of ever being attracted to one, its just that I am attracted to dark hair 99% of the time.

Sean, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like brown hair on girls, blonde on men. Is Alasdair blonde? Am I just a brunette or am I the perfect shade of brunette? So many woman have asked me what color I use to dye my hair. As if I would harm such fragile beauty with chemicals! Does it make a difference to the onlooker that my skin is really pale as well?

mariannamaclean, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

its just that I am attracted to dark hair 99% of the time.

Maybe you should just get a big sack of it and dispense with the girlfriend idea.

Nick, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've already dispensed with the girlfriend idea.

Sean, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I prefer dark hair or obviously bleached hair. But it's not that important to me. Eye color is another story: I always go for brown or green eyes.

Arthur, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's not Gahan who's sporting a black penis. It's Martin Gore... I think.

nathalie (nathalie), Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Suddenly, Black Celebration takes on a whole new meaning.

Nicole, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oh man i saw that one coming from a mile away, but still--ha!

ethan, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Black hair , none of this brown stuff.

anthony, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is MArtin Gore in Depeche mode? Speaking of which, what gives with them? WHy did people like them? I was listening to them today and they are so silly.

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

People still like them, you know. People like ME.

The robotic synth thing combined with voices that were largely in my vocal range = CLASSIC.

Dan Perry, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Rave-coloured hair, Dan? Is this mdma-induced synaesthesia at work, where the mentasms make people's locks glow colours never seen during any other drug/music combination? Ace. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I was going to answer the question but it would be foolish of a ginger person - bleh, grumble, minging vileness, etc - to sound like she was casting aspersions on anyone else's hair colour. Plus I'm not sure I really have a preference (me, not picky? shiiiirley not, ohono...). Boring, eh? Well, no change there. Sorry.

Rebecca, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The non-commital answer is that I can like anything that seems to suit the particular person - whatever the colour is. HOWEVER, I find that I'm unusually fascinated by the look of black/v. dark brown hair with ice blue eyes - on anybody really. It's just so striking.

Kim, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Typos are my new shtick. ("NEW???" shouts the peanut gallery. Fie on tehm.)

Dan Perry, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like pitch black or platinum blonde, that's all. But blondes have the potential to be hotter than anyone else if the rest of the package falls into place.

Otis Wheeler, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I always thought the blonde vs. brunette question implied a set of archetypes, not just hair colour. Ie., do you want a blonde bombshell- like woman who looks like she just emerged from a beach in California with beads of water dripping off her bathing suit and no threatening personality traits like intelligence or excellent conversational skills, or do you want a raven-haird sultry beauty who can stay up all night talking Kafka and Joy Division b-side collecting before you make passionnate monkey love, and who may well be smarter than you are?

The problem with this question is that nobody on this board would ever admit to preferring the first. Also, I'm completely insane, and the question was really just asking about hair colour prference. F$*#@ ().

Dave M., Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'll be forced to be boring and say I have no preference. However, purely in the name of science, I'll be forced to look towards my Buffy The Vampire Slayer poster....

mmmm...

errr...

yeeaaaahhhh....

Graham, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The results: I'll have to go for the Buffster, sorry Cordelia. Of course neither of them comes close to Willow, but apparently she's been banned by Emma "Hitler" Hamilton. Hmmmph.

I'd also like to take this oppurtunity to slap Dave Boreanez. Stop it with the moodiness. Thank you.

Graham, Thursday, 26 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Their rythhm section sounds like someois dropping trash cans into a stairwell. and the singer sings like he is trying to sound like daddy. and they are such poofs. with no redemin gqualities.

Mike Hanley, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I prefer blonde women and brun(ette?) men.

youn, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A little of each? BOOM BAM

Tracer Hand, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

boys: dark hair, preferably black. do not like blond boys at all.

girls: anything.

lady die, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Like Kate in an earlier thread, I was talking about aesthetic appreciation. But yeah, I do feel nervous around blonde women that I might be attracted to if I were male.

youn, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Emma Hitler Hamilton? Cripes. And Willow isn't really ginger anyway, she dyes her brunette hair.

Emma, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dave, I don't think I'm being excessively controversial in stating that I'd pick the beach bombshell over someone who stays up all night talking Kafka and Joy Division b-side collecting.

Nick, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

We shall see who prefers saucy beach fun and who prefers boring Kafka when we see who turns up on the ILE Seaside Awayday, eh?

Tom, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sadly I don't think that Saucy English seaside fun can measure up to Baywatch standards. Donkeys and sticks of rock are not very sexy.

Emma, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Emma, you have no imagination.

Nick, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I will pick the stupid boy every time! Hah! Jane and I were discussing the (purely aesthetic, of course) merits of various cute boys last night. She dismissed the one that I thought was lovely as being "far too intelligent looking" for me. Then he put his head back and started vacantly "looking at the pretty lights" and I just turned to her and smiled in triumph.

Kate the Saint, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nick, what you do in your room late at night with donkeys and rock is between you and subscribers to www.donkeysandrockporn.com.

Emma, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I thought I heard something braying in the small hours this morning.

Madchen, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

flou.

Mike Hanle y, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

C'mon Mike, you have a whole thread for that.

I am jealous of anyone who manages to get near saucy beach fun, seeing as I work in a dank basement and the nearest beach is the... euhhh... Jersey Shore!

Dave M., Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Why can't you be both the beach bombshell and the annoying Joy Division girl? You can do both at the same time. Go to the beach, stay til midnight, play JD on the boombox. Guaranteed to annoy guidos on the Jersey Shore and/or Jones Beach!

Ally, Friday, 27 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

More concerned with the hair cut than the hair color. A bad haircut will do in pretty much anyone, no matter how pretty...

Chris, Saturday, 28 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

four weeks pass...
95% of the time i am attracted to men with dark hair and usually dark eyes too. the only guy i have ever been in love with was a blonde with blue eyes and needless to say, it's sad but true: i stopped being physically attracted to him and then the rest fell apart too. now i only date the tall, dark, handsome types, no more west coast blonde boys for me, i'll only break their hearts. and on girls, i would say dark hair also. i am naturally brown with natural blonde highlights but had platinum blonde hair for the past year. i was actually sick of the reaction it used to get me, lots of attention but lots of presumptious thoughts that i was dumb. for heaven's sake i graduated third in my class. so last night i dyed it dark dark brown, almost black, and came on here to see the opinions of men and make sure i didn't make a mistake. i don't think i did. you know....not many women can pull of blonde hair, i am realizing. or at least make blonde hair more beautiful than brown. pamela anderson can do it....britney spears can, most of the time...but in the end brown hair is more flattering on almost everyone.

kori, Sunday, 26 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Blondes.
I go for long-haired blonde girls usually. Though not with the Linda McCartney fringe - instead the centre-parted 'hippy-chick' style.

Saying that, I quite like Nina Perrson's new brunette look.
But gentlemen prefer blondes.
So = blondes.

DavidM, Sunday, 26 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Blonde hair is what is felt in the feel of the free, the golden haired free

Pennysong Hanle y, Friday, 28 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think BOTH hair colours are gorgeous!! My boyfriend loves dark haired women, Salma Hayek,Jordana Brewster etc...But I tend to like myself as a blonde.. but my colourist makes my hair BOTH shades.. Light blonde on top, and dark brunette underneath. My hair is long .. ..Sorta like Britney Spears ... It LOOKS NATURAL ..until my dark roots grow in. I am thinking of going DARK Brunette. I have VIVID green eyes and i think it will look sexy.. Either way, i love myself for WHO i am, not for my haircolor.. and i judge people the same way.

Colleen, Monday, 12 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And looking over this again -- yes, Martin Gore's dad is a black American feller.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 12 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm blonde and I'd kiss me in a second.

Ronan, Monday, 12 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh lord, just now noticed a misspelling from July. *mortified and stuff*

I usually 'sport' the long ash blonde and wavy look and tend to get quite a few compliments, but earlier this year I dyed it quite dark brown - the lack of comment on the change said it all I think. Pitch black straight wigs on the other hand, are another story - such a shame my real hair can't quite pull that look off.

Kim, Monday, 12 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Don't matter. Though I used to go on about blondes as a kid... unfortunately, landing a blonde trophy wife is far too common a goal for Greek men.

MUST... FIGHT.... GREEK..... GENES.......

(Kate, so red drives you mad? Um, dare I mention Alan McGee or Carrottop?)

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 12 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Did I never contribute to this one?

THE ANSWER IS BRUNETTES, unless you are in the Buffyverse in which this becomes INVERSE for Spike = rowr! whereas Angel = oh please.

Sarah, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

While I don't think I am in any way blonde I clearly am by Sri Lankan standards and the lady doing my hair for my bridesmaiding duties said 'Oooh I love doing blonde hair it's just like playing with a Barbie doll'.

She did do my hair very glamorously, but I still don't think I can forgive her.

Emma, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I convinced one of my friends to stop putting that horrible marigold yellow highlighting shit in his hair, and now it's pleasantly dark brown. La. (I have also passed on to him the habits of listening to the Velvet Underground and wearing feather boas.)

Maria, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like brunettes...I also quite like girls who dye their hair dark red.

james, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I felt quite humiliated when I did that because apparently it was a TREND and I only noticed after. (I did dark red because it was the only non-natural color I could find to use without bleach.)

Maria, Tuesday, 13 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well im French,Russian,Iranian!!! but i look very spanish(something between Penelope cruz and J-LO but very slim), and never had a problem with guys but actually most of my boyfriends always went out with blondes till they met me that is!? I personaly think beautiful is beautiful, no matter blonde or brunette,

sally, Tuesday, 20 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have dark red hair, but I don't think it's the sort of non-natural dark red being referenced.

Ally, Tuesday, 20 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm kind of indifferent on the blond-brunette thing, with a vague preference for brunette.

on the cuffs-collars thing, I'm still not entirely convinced that all "down there" hair isn't kind of dark, which says a lot about me.

DV, Wednesday, 21 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

.HAIR COLOR TO ME IS UNIMPORTANT....THANK GOD THAT MY HUSBAND IS SUCH A WONDERFUL PERSON...im glad i found someone as nice as him, considering how many shallow men are out there....oh a note for all of you men out there : 80% OF ALL BLONDES are dyed blondes... i read that in several articles over the years..... THE HAIR DYE INDUSTRY IS A MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS....

ARIANA ANDERSON, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Blimey.

I'm a brunette and I've always prefered my guys with darker hair. I don't understand why guys have such a thing for blonde hair...most beautiful blonde bombshells are well, unatural blonde bombshells so what is the big fuss? Pamela Anderson, Marilyn Monroe and Britney Spears aren't (weren't) natural blondes. Personally, I think girls are all beautiful not depending on hair color. If a guy has a certain 'taste' for a certain haircolor...than that is only an extra. I've always thought about becoming a blonde, but brunette is me.

*Unkown*, Monday, 24 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

for the money.

gareth, Monday, 7 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well i am a brunette! I look very spanish as my farther is portuguese! And most guys ive spoke 2 and dated actually preffer brunettes....because blondes look artificial! But i think both are gorgeus no matter what! Just most pornstars are blonde! So there taken as useless! Which is stupid really.....

Sanchia larson, Sunday, 13 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like brunettes better. Its nothing against blondes because I have gone out with 20 blondes but I am more intune with change.

I personally think that brunettes are preferrable.. in my opinion. Even if you don't know them, they contribute a good aura. Where I live, a lot of the blondes live up to the "dumb blonde" stereotype, so it's a turn off. But in terms of beauty.. I still prefer brunettes. They just look more natural.

BRUNETTES ROCK! =D

Marz, Sunday, 26 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

brunette, preferrably with glasses too

I really don't think color matters! Evereybody is beautiful in their own way. I personally am a 100% PuErTo rIcAn with a nice tan and hazel green eyes and dark dark brown hair which i am dying a honey blonde color with ash blonde highlights, I just always wanted to see what I'd look like as a blonde. E-mail me if u have any things to say about that. *mUaH* =o) BlOnDeS ArE GoRgOuEs BaBeS...BrUnNeTtEs ArE BeauTiFuL! I LOVE YOU ALL!

Jessie M, Friday, 31 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hold on guys! There's a difference between NATURAL blondes and brunettes who dye their hair blonde. More than half of the 'blondes' some of you people are judging are brunettes. And even though the color contrast may be beautiful becuase it's not common; blondes are not tan. They are peach to pale. So be careful when you judge people, becuase people dye their hair too often and you can't tell -_-

Ray, Saturday, 8 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what about the fake brunettes?

queenoftheharpies, Saturday, 8 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

" They are peach to pale. So be careful when you judge people"

Uh maybe on the planet you live on. I get quite tanned if I waste my time sitting in the sun.

cuba libre (nathalie), Sunday, 9 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well anyone who sits under the sun can get a tan, or a sunburn. I can too.

I mean in terms of natural skin color. And I read somewhere that men tend to have naturally tanner skin than women (not all men), so, I suppose the only true tan blonde would be a man. But as far as blonde females go, sorry. That bronze tan is fake.

As far as fake brunettes? Well, anyone can dye their hair, the trick is pulling it off to look natural or fake -if you prefer. It seems more natural for a brunette to have tan skin than a blonde. When I see a tan blonde, it looks to fake to me. When I see a tan brunette, it looks very natural.

But all I can say in final conclusion, the whole 'people with yellow hair are stupid/dumb/bimbo', I think we can all get rid of that :)

Ray, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

tracerhand@yahoo.com, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have an overwhelmingly strong preference for brunettes. A blonde has to be quite exceptional to attract my attention.

DeRayMi, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Guys I like and fall for wouldnt look at me if i had blond hair. simple as that. my answer is brunette- (biased response here) we can be just as exotic and sexy having brunette hair as blonds. however, usually its the overall package. u can get ugly blonds and brunettes and gorgeous blonds and brunettes.

I live in a very large City, I'n lucky to have the choices of lots of beautifull women. I have dated, white, black & asian women, I worship them all. Redheards, raven haired bueaties & Blondes. But I must say that a Blonde with muscular legs in high heels turns more heads than any other woman I dated. It seams that Blondes are the Icons of the world, men stare in disbelief and lust and women in envy and disgust. I have been very lucky to have dated many diffrent types of women but it it obvious that Blondes turn the most heads and stir the deepest emotions. God Bless all women, they all deserved to be worshiped.

I have natural blonde hair, and you can tell it's natural cos it's brown underneath! Hehe (it gets bleached by the sun) so in many ways I'm quite lucky cos I have brown hair and blonde hair!

I would kill to have the brown hair and olive skin look, and it really annoys me when brunettes dye their hair blonde cos their hair is already beautiful!

ali, Saturday, 14 September 2002 10:17 (twenty-three years ago)

blondes all look the same to me. they tend to represent themselves in a haze of mastubatory allusion - i never actually have been attracted to one for an extended period.

Both hair colors make no difference. I think brunettes are more beautiful because they are far more fascinating and comes in many different shades, from shiny raven hair to soft light brown color, it's never almost boring while the blondes, excluding the NATURAL blondes, are one dimensional. Plus, brunettes can pull off the non-makeup look because they already have some color in their skin and hair, while blonde women have to use makeup to prevent the washed out look. I see too many bottle blondes trying to out-blond each other like Shakira, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and others. However, natural blondes should be excluded from any smarty remarks because they're born that way since birth, I know that for sure, 'cause I have nephews and nieces since they were kids grew up to natural baby blondes in their teens from white blond as kids. Like someone above that mentioned the striking contrast between either black or dark brown hair with ice blue or green eyes, I also like that combo the best.

Well I am very anti-blonde, besides pretty much 99% are fake blondes and if they keep bleaching their hair, theyll b hairless!! I am pro brunette they are fucking sexy, chick and guys that is, and we are natural, there are more of us and we are in higher demand!! Also i elieve we are more noticed coz we dont have to stick our REAL tits in guys faces to get their attantion! I am also for the firy red headders, not wrannger tho or orange, we make a good team and we dish out the best sex! Face it blondes BRUNETTES ROCK THIS DAMN NATION!

Generally,I think brunettes are sexier on guys and girls.I have fair skin, dark dark hair, and green eyes..everything is natural.Brunettes seem to be sweeping across the nation more and even on tv.I love guys with dark hair, dark eyes, and dark skin because I think its just damn incredibly sexy!Brunettes tend to be more sexy, romantic, and classy while Blondes can be more stylish, fun, and flirty;however,my life revolves around fashion and celebs and I see more brunettes everyday. If you want a nation that LOVES blondes and gets a lot of attention,go to Italy.

Victoria, Thursday, 28 November 2002 04:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I got bored and I'm dying my hair blonde right now. It's stinging. I think the hot, sunny weather inspired this latest blonde attack.

toraneko (toraneko), Thursday, 28 November 2002 11:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmmmm...I found it very interesting how brunettes attack blondes.

You said it yourself brunettes...most blondes dye their hair and are naturally brunette...so you are a bit dim really because you are dissing your own kind by calling them dumb!

Love Chantelle--the natural blonde

Yeah Chantelle! I think most people on this thread have been influenced by the whole "j-lo latino sultry sexy" fad. I find this more fake than someone who dyes their hair blonde since no-one can be "seductive and passionate" all the time. Everyone gets too influenced by the media. Have u seen jennifer lopez's sisters? They really are nothing to get excited about and also, has anyone seen j-lo without any make-up?? Euuuurgh.... I would choos the beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow or the cute Reese Witherspoon over a sweaty hairy latina any day! I'm not trying to offend brunettes...but when my mates say they prefer brunettes they tend to mean the tanned exotic ones, and the pale ordinary looking brunettes then think they are referring to them...it's so media inflicted...

Davey, Saturday, 4 January 2003 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

I would choos the beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow or the cute Reese Witherspoon over a sweaty hairy latina any day! I'm not trying to offend brunettes

No, you're just trying to insult Latinas. That's totally okay.

Most men who tell me they like dark haired girls are all talking about Winona Fucking Ryder, what the hell? Dude I'm going to dye my hair blonde again. Winona Ryder, jesus.

strange to go back and read old posts and see how totally my tastes have changed... my thing for dyed red hair has totally disappeared- probably negative association, though.

and i've completely flipped to find that i almost exclusively date/m attracted to dark-haired men. though i'm upset by the realisation that the men i'm attracted to almost always prefer brunettes. that whole 'blondes can't be deep' thing works against me, i guess.

indie gal, Thursday, 9 January 2003 16:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Davey, I'm seventeen and and your comments seem like they're coming straight out of a uneducated kid in the 1900's. " hairy" and "sweaty" latina's??!! Uh-- yeah... don't u think that's a little bit of a generalization? You're taking j-lo and assuming that every " exotic" girl is unattractive without makeup. I know this is untrue because A) I'm a pretty fine thing myself, even without make-up and B) simply because EVERY girl has some issues and yes, caucasian girls have hair issues aswell.
Personally, your comments really dissapoint point and sadden me. They are so old school and backwards. Is it really 2003?!!haha

Secondly, I think that this whole notion that blond women are the "icons of the world" as Tim said is a very broad and border line race ignorant assumption!!!
MANY females are not caucasion and most of them don't have blond hair, so what ur trying to say is that these woman are not icons and aren't admired like blonds and in turn white females are.
If you watch any TV or follow the media, it's obvious that this whole blond ideal BS is breaking down. Look around at female
"icons of the world" such as Jennifer lopez, Ashanti, Christina Milian, Halle B., Tyra Banks, Tia Carre,Alicia Keys atc...
These women have different looks and ethnic backgrounds and appearnaces compared to the century old ideal of blond+blue eyes. But-- oh my gosh-- they're all sucessful! haha, what I'm trying to say is that a black hair and brown eyed girl can have just as much beauty, sex appeal and "icon" status as a blond. To have it any differently is simply untrue and unfair. There's room for all of us and none is better than the other.

Oh yeah and Davey-- J-lo looks bad without make? Have you seen Gwenyth without it?!!

Tara Lopes, Monday, 20 January 2003 22:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Have you seen Gwenyth with it?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 20 January 2003 22:09 (twenty-three years ago)

brunettes all the way

gio, Monday, 20 January 2003 22:36 (twenty-three years ago)

brunettes, no doubt. I used to like gwyneth a lot, btw, but i think lately her makeup has gotten heavier and worse. When did she start with all that eye makeup & stuff?

g (graysonlane), Monday, 20 January 2003 22:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I agree totally with Tara Lopes. I am actually naturally blonde myself but I don't see myself as an "icon". What really annoys me is when brunettes dye their hair blonde. "Each to their own" you might say, but I think a girl should just be pleased with what she has. Why cover something up which is already beautiful?

Blondes are usually stereotyped as having fair skin and pale blue eyes, while brunettes are steretyped as having tanned skin and brown eyes...and there never seems to be any mention of red heads...and you know why?! Because the media used to influence women to dye their hair blonde as you would be seen as "glamorous" if you did so. Thank god people are now realising how naturally beautiful the brunette (and the redhead) can be.

Some blondes have tanned skin, some brunettes have pale skin, some blondes have brown eyes and some brunettes have blue eyes. I hope one day all these narrow minded people I always seem to encounter will realise that individuality is the only thing that will get you anywhere in life-not colour from a bottle.

Well, I am a natural blonde and am honestly sick and tired of the comparisons and dumb blonde jokes. I'm happy with my natural hair color - as both of my parents were blondes and that's just genetics - so what choice is there really - I mean, if you prefer being natural and yourself. I've never had any problem attracting men or being sexy - that has more to do with your personality than your hair color. It's ridiculous to compare - because regardless of how desirable you try to be - there will always be someone more attractive than you right around the corner. Who really cares about hair color when it comes down to it? Shallow people - so who gives a $hit??

Danielle, Tuesday, 8 July 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I am in the process of growing my hair out to its natural colour for the reason of simple curiosity. I've totally forgotten what colour it actually IS and I'm interested to see the result due to the caramel colour that's been emmanating from the back of my hair where the highlighting doesn't quite reach.

Wow. What a thread revival.

The distaste for dyed red hair has remained. But the natural attraction to blonds stayed true despite a momentary aberation. "God alone could love you for your self alone and not your yellow hair".

I think I'm sick of being a brunette, too. I'm still not used to it, I just think of myself as a blonde.

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 31 March 2005 07:53 (twenty years ago)

Unfortunately I'm one of the freaks who goes for red hair. The attraction to the blonde hair, blue-eyed type is something I just can't get my head around ,I should probably mention here that I'm mixed race [Jamaican/Indian/Scots] and I find that the appearance of people of this type just seems somehow bleached out and freakish to me. Pale blue eyes in particular just don't look right as far as I'm concerned.

As far as a particular personal preference goes; for me it's women with jet-black hair, dark skin and big brown eyes.
