i thought the female equivalent was "hillary swank gets her ass beat"
― elmo argonaut, Monday, 9 June 2008 20:05 (eighteen years ago)
Ah, yes, Hilary too. But Sarah Polley matches Leto better for the "look, it's someone small and pretty getting jacked up," culminating in the whole spinal-surgery sequence in No Such Thing.

jared leto walked past me in ny, according to other people i was with at the time. i didn't recognize him, and when i turned around to see where he went he had already disappeared into the crowd. maybe it was for the best.

Jared Leto has been winning multiple awards for playing the transgender character of Rayon in the film “Dallas Buyers Club.” The transgender community has then watched him throw them under the bus.

Hugh Hefner passed away just last week at the age of ninety-one, and a biopic is already in the works. Brett Ratner has cast Jared Leto as the founder of Playboy, saying, according to Brian Porreca and Seth Abramovitch in the Hollywood Reporter, “When he heard I got the rights to Hef’s story, he told me, ‘I want to play him. I want to understand him.’ And I really believe Jared can do it. He’s one of the great actors of today.’”

We're seeing a taping of "How Did This Get Made" tonight, and the movie is "Morbius." We watched it, and ... it's not terrible? I mean, I didn't think it was particularly good, but its biggest failure is that it is bland and boring and pretty pro forma. Iirc there are no lol batshit (if you pardon the pun) moments or anything, so I'm really curious how they're going to make fun of it. Besides the fact that Jared Leto is in it.

I adore this thread title
― lets hear some blues on those synths (brimstead), Sunday, 30 October 2022 16:45 (three years ago)
I guess an anonymous "Morbius" crew member wrote in to the show with some insane stories they read out loud. Leto insisted on walking with crutches for the entire shoot (pre-vampire powers), which meant that any time he needed to use the bathroom it took at least 30 minutes, even though it was three minutes away; eventually they started wheeling him there in a chair. Another time he overheard one of the electricians saying something bad about him, so Leto started a charm offensive by bringing donuts to the set every day and offering them to the crew ... but only the male crew members. Last was that he would insist on improvising a string of surreal one-liners, so much so that takes were stretching to 15 minutes, and studio executives began worrying they were amassing hours and hours of unusable footage. Sounds annoying.

Jared Leto was certainly "Closer to the Edge" than ever before.
On Thursday morning, the rocker, 51, climbed the Empire State Building to announce the launch of Thirty Seconds to Mars' 2024 Seasons world tour in support of the band's latest record It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day.
“The building is a testament of all the things that can be done in the world if we put our minds to it,” said Leto in a press release, “which is largely the inspiration behind our most recent album, ‘It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day.’”
