what's up with mutya's tooth?

Jordan Sarging (Brohan Hari), Friday, 2 January 2009 17:35 (sixteen years ago)

It's 2009! I failed at the first hurdle. Mods please?

Alba, Friday, 2 January 2009 17:35 (sixteen years ago)

Thank you.

Alba, Friday, 2 January 2009 17:50 (sixteen years ago)

Christ's teeth, that's actually just about tempting. I've spent the entire week going: "There's no way Tommy Sheridan's really going in there," too. The world doesn't really need a Happy Shopper George Galloway, but it does need more Steve Strange.

What time does it start?

Special topics: Disco, The Common Market (grimly fiendish), Friday, 2 January 2009 18:05 (sixteen years ago)

(9pm, if anyone gives a shit. The more I think about it, I'm not even sure I do. Still.)

I'm in. Strange being the deciding factor, although Terry's going to be pretty good as well. As long as C4 dust off those "I'll do anything to get on telly, me" clips from The Word.

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 19:23 (sixteen years ago)

Here it comes...

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:01 (sixteen years ago)

Bugger. I'm up to my eyes with reading (and I should have made much more headway already) so I'm not going to watch them go in. ILX, I'm relying on YOU.

#1 - La Toya Jackson

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:10 (sixteen years ago)

She looks like Zelda from Terrahawks after a trip to the botox clinic...

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:11 (sixteen years ago)

Although to be fair, in her intro VT she seems quiet normal. Lots of booing from the crowd though.

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:12 (sixteen years ago)

She looks more like Michael than ever.

Alba, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:15 (sixteen years ago)

She's just dumped her bag in the private single bedroom. Oh this is going to be a clash of egos. Especially as...
#2 - Mutya

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:15 (sixteen years ago)

Mutya looks like an old Hello! magazine glamour puss before her time. I kind of like it.

Alba, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:19 (sixteen years ago)

#3 - Vern Troyer

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:20 (sixteen years ago)

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:30 (sixteen years ago)

#4 - Tommy Sheridan

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:31 (sixteen years ago)

TBH the housemate I'm least interested in.

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:32 (sixteen years ago)

You won't be saying that when he ends up in a four-in-a-bed romp with La Toya, Mutyah and Verne.

Alba, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:33 (sixteen years ago)

Verne knew Tommy before he introduced himself... mmm...

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:34 (sixteen years ago)

Ahhh, Lucy talks to Verne like a baby.

Alba, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:38 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, that explains how Verne knows Tommy - he's seen the leaks in the paper. Which is different from the civilian version of the show where they're kept away from the media.

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

#6 - Ben somebody-or-other, who I don't give a shit about...

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

Fancies himself a bit, doesn't he?

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:40 (sixteen years ago)

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:43 (sixteen years ago)

I can confirm that she is not the last person on Earth I would expect to do this.

cozwn, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:53 (sixteen years ago)

cozwn, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:53 (sixteen years ago)

"young girls, er... over 18"

Did his intro VT just get badly edited, or is he really a cock?

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:53 (sixteen years ago)

I thought he came across well.

Alba, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:54 (sixteen years ago)

OK, I've stopped working and switched this on. Fuck me, it's Coolio!

Special topics: Disco, The Common Market (grimly fiendish), Friday, 2 January 2009 21:54 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, that explains how Verne knows Tommy - he's seen the leaks in the paper. Which is different from the civilian version of the show where they're kept away from the media.

They've done this before - last time round it was all "when's Jade getting here then?"

Am relying on you guys, I have darts to watch.

ailsa, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:55 (sixteen years ago)

#9 - Michelle Heaton, ex Liberty X, me ZZZZZZZZZ...

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:56 (sixteen years ago)

Christ, Tommy looks old and haggard. I fear he is going to make a TOTAL COCK of himself.

Michelle Heaton was on Celebrity Come Dine With Me once. She was shit. I expect no difference here.

Special topics: Disco, The Common Market (grimly fiendish), Friday, 2 January 2009 21:56 (sixteen years ago)

Excepting some alpha male bullshit between Tommy and Coolio.

#10 - Terry "I'll Do Anything To Get On Television" Christian

snoball, Friday, 2 January 2009 22:00 (sixteen years ago)

I was chatting to a former workmate the other week who was at school with Terry Christian. He said he was "basically a fucking idiot" and expressed some admiration that he'd managed to land any kind of career that didn't involve shovelling shit for a living.

Special topics: Disco, The Common Market (grimly fiendish), Friday, 2 January 2009 22:01 (sixteen years ago)

(xxpost) I'm going to restrict myself to watching the daily one hour summary show and the live eviction shows. There's a T4 CBB programme on in about five minutes, but I'm not going to bother to watch that.

Er, I lied.

if some1 could fills me in i would like it (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 4 January 2009 10:08 (sixteen years ago)

I love how Coolio is switching between "laid back non-celebrity" and "I'm the first person in my family to earn $1 million dollars!".

snoball, Sunday, 4 January 2009 10:14 (sixteen years ago)

Lisa Malone is one of those hateful completely unsufferable types who ONLY talk about themselves. 'I this, I that, you should see me blah, you should have seen me do that' etc etc. SHE DOESN'T TALK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE.

There's one sequence in which she's talking to Latoya: they're both talking about themselves and nothing else. So really it's just duelling monologues.

Coolio blurts out racist slur
Rapper gets away with saying n****r on show

HERE WE GO AGAIN: Coolio lands CBB in hot water again
By Dan Wootton, 04/01/2009

CELEBRITY Big Brother was embroiled in yet another race row last night after gangster rapper Coolio used the racist term n****r - but was NOT disciplined by Channel 4 bosses.
The 45-year-old, well known for his hate-filled song lyrics, had been warned by show chiefs not to use inappropriate language before entering the TV house on Friday night.

But he still used the highly offensive N-word at 9.20am yesterday morning during a conversation with ex-pop star Ben Adams.

Despite insisting they'd be tough on contestants after the last CBB race debacle involving Jade Goody, show makers Endemol took no action against Coolio.

However, aware of the likely public outcry over the use of the word, they chose not to broadcast the offending conversation.

Last night a TV insider said: "It's as if Channel 4 and Endemol have learnt no lessons from all the previous incidents of racism and appalling behaviour on Big Brother.

"If he's allowed to use that word without any sort of reprimand, what's next? It's absolutely disgusting. What if another housemate uses this kind of language."

A Channel 4 source said that as no housemates had been offended by the use of the word and given that Coolio was an African American no action was taken.

Vivid
After enquiries from the News of the World a spokeswoman last night confirmed Coolio had said the offending word and it had not been broadcast.

She said: "At around 9.20am today, Coolio recounted a vivid dream he experienced overnight in which he had been involved in a fight.

"Coolio used the N-word in his descriptive retelling to Ben. Coolio described how his imaginary adversary called Coolio 'Oh n****r'.

"This was again immediately flagged to senior production staff at Endemol and C4.

"After reviewing the footage, where Ben clearly took no offensive from the use of the word, no other housemates heard the word, the footage was not broadcast to cause offence to viewers and the context that Coolio used the word, no further action was taken.

"As always constant monitoring of any unacceptable language by any housemate is on going and Big Brother is always prepared to remind all housemates of these rules."

Big Brother chiefs were well aware that Coolio has a habit of offensive lyrics, having used the N-word in a number of his songs.

In one track, That's Hot It Is, he raps: "I'm fed up with this s***. N****R set trippin', I ain't even banging."

Action
In another, Geto Highlites, he says: "To the n****r who smokin' indo chocolate tired of stress. N****r who got warrants out for their arrest."

Big Brother has previously taken serious action when the N-word has been used.

Blonde student Emily Parr was thrown out for using the racially offensive term to fellow housemate Charley Uchea in June 2007.

The pair were together when Emily said: "Are you pushing it out, you n*****r."

The next morning, at 3am, she was woken and called into the Diary Room. She later insisted she hadn't used it in an "offensive way".

Two years ago Jade Goody was evicted from Celebrity Big Brother in January 2007 after a row over alleged racism and bullying against Indian Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty.

The public outcry that resulted saw the show off air until Friday night.

She called her "Shilpa Poppadom'", asked whether she lived in a "house or a shack'" and told to "go back to the slums."

another example of inside racism and discrimination, white people cant say n***** but a black man can, what the **** has britain came to.

By dave. Posted enero 4 2009 at 9:37 AM.

It is always the same, when a black person uses this disgusting word and all the others then it is ok,but heavens forbid when a white person happens to say it. Why would anyone want to use this vile word is beyond me

By Ann Chambers. Posted enero 4 2009 at 9:36 AM.

There seems to be one rule for one and one for another. They are all Has-beens. Who watches this rubbish?

By David. Posted enero 4 2009 at 9:30 AM.

AS THERE IS NO LIVE FEED THEY CAN SAY WHAT THEY LIKE.WATCHED IT AT 12 O CLOCK LAST NIGHT ALL IN BED EXCEPT COOLIO UNPACKING HIS SUIT CASE.HOW CAN C4 EXPECT TO GET VIEWERS BACK WATCHING?

By merryl. Posted enero 4 2009 at 9:28 AM.

if this n***** word was said but not aired, who was the person responsible to spill the beans to the papers in the first place, if it was from BB or Endemol themselves then OBVIOUSLY they are only after the bad publicity to get more viewers as i bet the ratings are down after last years CBB. need i say more!!!!!!!

By wendy. Posted enero 4 2009 at 9:43 AM.

Same old, 1 rule for 1 Channel 4 get a grip.

By Ally. Posted enero 4 2009 at 9:52 AM.

Here we go again, look at the context people, he was repeating a dream, durrr!!!!

By Syl. Posted enero 4 2009 at 8:58 AM.

So BB and Endemol have let this incident pass because they claim 'no one has been offended'. If I remember rightly, no on was offended when Emily said it and she was still thrown out of the house!
Emily said the 'N' word as part of conversation, she didn't call Charley it and at the time Charley didn't even bat an eyelid cos that's the language she uses and is used to!
Charley only pretended to be offended once she realised it was becoming an issue and that she was going to be in the middle of something, lets face it after the way Charley behaved in the house and after the way she spoke to others, I think it's fair to say that not an awful lot would upset her!

It will be interesting to see how BB handle any other issues regarding racism and offensive language for the remainder of programme and if double standards will apply to them!

By Janine Chivers. Posted enero 4 2009 at 8:51 AM.

why is it racist when a white person say's n****r but whena black person uses the same word its not racist.. bout time everyone is allowed to use the word if its not racist for a black person to use the word

By Rick. Posted enero 4 2009 at 8:06 AM.

From the way the story reads, it sounds like Coolio was describing an insult toward him.....thats what the word is...An insulting Profanity!
Its similar to the use of the F word, no one even notices if someone says F*** Me, but the whole context of the word changes if you change it to F""" you!
I think what black people have done with this word is brilliant!! They have turned it on its head and now use it in a general term to dilute its a mening little but havent lost the meaning entirely!

Also, Its a reality show....whats the point in a reality show where people are restricted from showing how they live in real life???? It may as well be scripted!!

By Gareth. Posted enero 4 2009 at 8:03 AM.

Oh thats ok, as long as a white person does not say it, then it isnt racist!!!!!!!!!!!

By shani. Posted enero 4 2009 at 8:02 AM.

All this PC attitude is making our country the s**t hole it is. People need to grow up.

He was talking about a dream he had about himself.

Me thinks the comments on here are more racist. Just coz he's black, if he was white 99% of you wouldnt care.

By paul. Posted enero 4 2009 at 8:11 AM.

Get over it, he didn't offend anyone, I bet the legal action they would face and the backlash for kicking him out over that would be much much worse than telling him off. Some perspective is needed here.

By clueless. Posted enero 4 2009 at 6:53 AM.

So what? It was a one off and in
context. grow up the lot of you.

By John Chambers. Posted enero 4 2009 at 5:17 AM.

It's only racist if it is intentionally said with malice.... in the course of normal conversation amongst SOME black people it is not offensive.

In addition, Emily should perhaps have been reprimanded but not removed.... at the time she said it, it was totally innocent.

By Jels. Posted enero 4 2009 at 4:54 AM.

This word is racist and offensive and he should be disciplined celebrity or not.
You can't have one rule for him and rule for everyone else.
Or are C4 practicing reverse racism?
They kicked out someone before for saying that word they should do it again this year

By hobnob. Posted enero 4 2009 at 4:38 AM.

double standards again,,he shouldhave been removed from the house,,they ruined stephs experience in big brother when they overeacted, but at the same time they set the standard...they clearly said that there could never be any acceptable excuse for using this word..
its has offended me very badly.

By jamesd. Posted enero 4 2009 at 3:49 AM.

Double standards, So are they saying only black people are 'allowed' to be offended by the term? Are they saying white people would not be offended just because they are white??

Its 'normally' white pc do-gooders that get offended 'for' black people anyway!

Sickening.

By Lee. Posted enero 4 2009 at 3:35 AM.

Ben didnt take offense that is a brilliant line a black man using the N word about himself and they were worried a white man would take offense brilliant channel 4 just brilliant

By magic_fingers. Posted enero 4 2009 at 2:22 AM.

Plus do not compare the Shilpa Shetty incident to to what Coolio said ..they are two very different scenarios..

By Kimora Lee. Posted enero 4 2009 at 1:02 AM.

How can they tell him off for talking about himself? He wasn't saying it at anyone....

By Clint. Posted enero 4 2009 at 1:02 AM.

He is not a gangsta rapper but african american both rappers and non rappers in general do use that word very loosely...As a people we use that word to each other and we do not find it offensive. H e's music he's positive go you tube some of his video you will see what i mean...Please dont think that every rapper is a gangsta rapper...i mean Will Smith is a rapper too, so he's he a gangsta as well? come on give me a break!!

By Kimora Lee . Posted enero 4 2009 at 1:01 AM.

WHY HAS HE NOT BEEN REPRIMANDED OR THROWN OF THE SHOW, IT AINT FAIR BIG BROTHER.

By weemadnorrie. Posted enero 4 2009 at 12:55 AM.

What did they expect. The guy's a gangster rapper and that's the language he uses most of the time. He isn't exactly Harvard educated. It's like having someone with Tourettes in the house and asking them to not swear!!!

Just askin'

I have absolutely no idea what this means.

Special topics: Disco, The Common Market (grimly fiendish), Monday, 5 January 2009 10:04 (sixteen years ago)

Christian made his first nomination after filming his fellow celebrities with a video camera for a task to create closing credits for Sunday's programme.

When asked to conclude which housemate had the most inflated ego, Christian told Big Brother: "No-one I filmed today showed any part of an ego, only me as I go on about being head of house.

"We all have big egos and low self-esteem. That's why we're in the business," he said.

Pushed for an answer, he chose Jonsson saying: "Everything seems to get on her nerves about me and the situation.

"I may be wrong and I'll suffer the consequences."

Monday's show will see Christian secretly choose a second celebrity to face the public vote by deciding which housemate has the least talent.

Mark G, Monday, 5 January 2009 11:45 (sixteen years ago)

Biggest challenge of the season will be finding a housemate with the least talent amongst that lot.

if some1 could fills me in i would like it (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 5 January 2009 11:46 (sixteen years ago)

I can't imagine Terry picking anyone other than Lucy Pinder for that.

Mark G, Monday, 5 January 2009 11:51 (sixteen years ago)

Terry seems like a basically sound guy to me. Him, Latoya, Verne, Mutya and maybe Ben will be the goodies. Coolio a bit early to call.

chap, Monday, 5 January 2009 13:39 (sixteen years ago)

Coolio was v. funny on Never mind the Buzzocks, a few years ago.

Mark G, Monday, 5 January 2009 13:41 (sixteen years ago)

terry the most interesting guy in there but that's not really about him

latoya just mental and weird and brainless

tina just fucking horrible

conrad, Monday, 5 January 2009 13:48 (sixteen years ago)

Nah, reckon Latoya might be decent underneath the Jackson loopiness. Plenty of time to be proved wrong though.

chap, Monday, 5 January 2009 13:50 (sixteen years ago)

don't think she's indecent just totally thoughtless and vapid

conrad, Monday, 5 January 2009 13:55 (sixteen years ago)

Thoughtless? The bit I saw she seemed to be quite caring towards Tina.

Vapid? Jury's out.

Mark G, Monday, 5 January 2009 13:57 (sixteen years ago)

didn't mean careless. meant thoughtless like I meant brainless - obviously she has a thought and a brain but they are both rubbish

conrad, Monday, 5 January 2009 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

Anyone else notice that Coolio totally lied about his age on Gangsta's Paradise?

I'm 23 now, will I live to see 24...

does Verne have more talent than Lucy? he's fascinating and well liked but i've only seen him in Austin Powers which wasn't even a speaking part.

koogs, Monday, 5 January 2009 16:42 (sixteen years ago)

Lucy professed to be intelligent AND a rabid Tory in her bio package, so I'm saying yes.

if some1 could fills me in i would like it (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 5 January 2009 22:55 (sixteen years ago)

Verne wasn't very good at the acting today.

Lucy's big chance to justify her opinions consisted of 'Yeah, I don't like the Labour Party because, er, they're rubbish.'

I continue to not mind Latoya, her self-analysis in the diary room was a hell of a lot more accurate and less cringeworthy than you'd expect. Still not brimming with insight, but far from awful. I think Mutya might be actively nice, but she's been a bit too quiet to tell for sure.

caught a bit of this. Lucy and Terry fighting for the most terrible although at least terry is a politician and i kinda expected polemic from him.

Tonight, LIVE on Channel 4, Davina McCall will return to the Big Brother house to surprise the housemates as the Celebrity Head of House mission comes to its conclusion.

All will be revealed and our celebrities will be enlightened live on air about Terry's secret nominations.

So far, Terry has nominated Ulrika, having deemed her the housemate with the most inflated ego, and Lucy for being the least talented housemate, based on her performance in talent showcase task.

As always Big Brother will have an extra twist up its sleeve, and the housemates will have to make a difficult decision...LIVE on air...

Tune in at 9pm Tuesday 6th January and join Davina for the surprise live show. The show continues at 11.05pm till 11.40pm.

The twist is that you think the twist is going to be shit, but you watch on the off chance that the twist isn't shit, then the twist on the twist is that the twist twist turns out to be shit.

I have no idea what it'll be, but since the whole point - from C4's point of view - is to increase viewing figures for the slack mid week period, it doesn't really matter. It can be a shit twist, but if it gets all the housemates jumping around shouting "aarrgh you're two faced!!!" "aaargh no you're two faced!!!" "aaaarrrgggh!!!" then C4 will be happy.

No, that's incorrect.

Lucy is a surprise, seems quite the old "down to earth" etc.

Still with her first boyfriend, the one she 'lost' it with. And can do a fairly decent Geordie accent (although it's more an 'impersonation of Cheryl Cole' to be fair)...

Still, 'nice enough' ain't gonna win it.

Tommy makes gigantic penis of self, #1 in what will probably be a mercifully short series.

The bit about "Rangers fans sing it" is a whole new level of WTF. Seriously, he's fucking mad.

Special topics: Disco, The Common Market (grimly fiendish), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 12:12 (sixteen years ago)

It's not very well explained. As I understand it, Sheridan and Christian were having a talk about their Irish roots. I assume the "Rangers fans sing it" refers to them singing it with ... different lyrics.

C4 muting it out isn't much of a story - the live feed has to play safe and mutes things all the time. You can't expect them to be experts on what's judged a sectarian song and what isn't.

Alba, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 12:28 (sixteen years ago)

I assume the "Rangers fans sing it" refers to them singing it with ... different lyrics

As far as I understand (and really: my understanding of all things Old Firm-related, especially the fucking songs, is minimal), there's a completely different set of words sung to the same tune, but that's not really the same thing at all. I genuinely don't think Tommeh knows what the fuck he's on about.

The point is, pretty simply: a Scottish politician should know rather better than to go on national TV and sing a song that could be linked in any way to sectarianism -- especially one that's just been in the fucking news (that was before they went in to the house, so no excuses there). And if he is going to do it, then he needs a rather more eloquent and well-thought-out justification.

re. Fields of Athenry - I presume the Glasgow University dude is similarly critical of God Save The Queen and Flower of Scotland and their neighbour-bashing sentiments, each aimed at alienating a section of the UK. And that people were similarly up in arms at Bruce Forsyth singing the Hokey Cokey on a prime-time Christmas Day light entertainment show.

Load of old bollocks, the lot of it. Sheridan's still a tit, mind.

Favourite Tommy S./SSP anecdotes:

The father of a friend of mine and Tommy are good pals. If Tommy ever drops round he likes a game of Pro Evo on the Xbox. But will only play it against children, and then acts like he's brilliant when he wins 4-0 or whatever.

Rosie Kane or whatever her name was explaining that she wasn't overly concerned with Marxist theory in the Herald - "I don't know what Marx said in the Kremlin".

Two of my friends went to a talk Tommy Sheridan was doing on some issue at their university, at the start a register was handed round, just with a list of spots to put in names and details, no explanation. Later they found that they had became members of the SSP. One of them has a Labour councillor for a dad and members of the local SSP would shout at him taunting him that his son had turned.

Lucy's friend and fellow glamour model Michelle Marsh was lifted into the Big Brother compound in an industrial cherry picker today.

As part of today's task, Tina, Lucy and Coolio have been acting as members of the paparazzi and staking out the garden to photograph any appearances from non-housemate celebrities.

Tina suprised Lucy by admitting that she did not realise that Michelle was famous and didn't have a clue who she was.

The actress, who had been given a camera as part of the task, said: "I don’t know who she is but I’ll take her photo anyway."

Michelle was quickly whisked away from the Big Brother compound without setting foot in the house.

The Daily Star are having a massive bonk about this, thee truth is somewhat less 'exciting'

Mark G, Thursday, 8 January 2009 09:28 (sixteen years ago)

More importantly: what happened to Steve Strange?

Special topics: Disco, The Common Market (grimly fiendish), Thursday, 8 January 2009 12:56 (sixteen years ago)

No idea what happened to Strange. Maybe he dropped out at the last minute and one of the others is the reserve housemate? At the beginning I was a bit peeved about him not being there, but Terry's taken over the role that I was expecting him to play anyway (reasonable guy without an overblown celebrity ego).

(xxpost) I think the problem* is that the person the producers put in to stir things up - Terry - hasn't done so.

*I don't think it's a problem, presumably C4/Endemol do, because to them no arguments = low ratings. There's a story in the Telegraph about how Nancy Dell'Olio is going to enter the house, but I think that's just a wild rumour. In the longer term, this "calm" house might make the housemates in the summer series behave more reasonably. On the other hand, the producers might deliberately pick more people with attichoods/entitlement issues in some attempt to make things spicier.

Celebrity Scissorhands
In November 2006, Strange took part in, and went on to win, the BBC reality series for Children in Need Celebrity Scissorhands (featuring top celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford). He has returned to the show for the subsequent two series (2007 and 2008)[2] as Assistant Manager/Image Consultant. In that role, he is in charge of the catwalk, showing all of the best haircuts of the series and also people dressed in 80's style clothing and make-up.

Celebrity Scissorhands, first series, end of 2006 I think? And it was produced by Endemol as well. The celebs weren't cooped up in a hotel and prevented from reading the papers, for example.

Mark G, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 09:34 (sixteen years ago)

Just when things are going perfectly well for Terry (no nominations at all)...

Michael Barrymore is recording a tribute Madchester song:

The song is not a recognisable cover, and some of the tune's original lyrics include: "He's the opinionated type of guy. Won't be too long till he makes Ulrika-ka-ka cry. He's just not fooled by those kind of birds. He'll speak his mind, he is the man of The Word.

Mark G, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 14:36 (sixteen years ago)

"You know what, I think La Toya is horny. I reckon she's a freak, dude," Coolio whispered to Terry.

"Don't be like that. Be a gentleman," Terry replied.

"I'll find out when I get back to LA," the rapper said, before adding: "I think she likes me. If I could get her to fall in love with me I'd never have to work again."

Terry simply shook his head, saying: "I'm not even going to laugh."

What concerns me is that the producers will see this and think "for the summer we have to get some really REALLY wacky outrageous people who will clash angrily with each other because of their attitchoods". And then we'll have an unwatchable 100 days of aggro to sit through.

snoball, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 11:32 (sixteen years ago)

There is one BIG difference between this series and the Regular one.

In the regular one (and, indeed, past Celeb ones), people wanted to stay on and win.

This one might as well be called "I'm a Celebrity (with kids), get me out of here!"

Mark G, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 11:36 (sixteen years ago)

i think they were hoping for mildness given that the last celeb thing got them into trouble (so much so that they skipped a year)

> In order of out:
> Latoya
> Ulrika
> Terry
> Coolio
> Verne

terry talking about the thickos that watch this program might've cost him.

koogs, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 12:26 (sixteen years ago)

no, he was talking about the thickos that actually vote.

oh, wait...

Mark G, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 12:29 (sixteen years ago)

Has anyone here ever actually phone voted for BigBrother, ever?

(this does not make you a thicko, OK?)

Mark G, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 12:29 (sixteen years ago)

that said, given that they are voting for rather than against people he might get away with the (the dissenting votes spread out amongst the others rather than targeted at him)

have voted twice in the past, can't remember who though.

koogs, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 12:36 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, but it might actually stop people voting *for* him. I guess.

Mark G, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 12:37 (sixteen years ago)

I used to vote from time to time, but not since the 2006 final (when I voted for Aisleyne).

mike t-diva, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 14:40 (sixteen years ago)

maxwell

conrad, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 14:47 (sixteen years ago)

i cant see many people voting for verne after the way he was lipsing up that baby last night. Who could know that there was something more disturbing than seeing him on a full size lady?

straightola, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 14:52 (sixteen years ago)

The Verne boosterism just tells me that the UK didn't see him on The Surreal Life, a train wreck matched only in its unwatchability by Celebrity Rehab.

Barack You Like A Husseincane (HI DERE), Wednesday, 21 January 2009 14:54 (sixteen years ago)

I think that was what Michelle was referring to when she said she saw him on something, and was expecting more drunken-ness mentalism from him.

Mark G, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 15:10 (sixteen years ago)

(in fairness I can't watch CBB so it's possible he isn't as completely tragic on this as he was on TSL)

Barack You Like A Husseincane (HI DERE), Wednesday, 21 January 2009 15:13 (sixteen years ago)

Latest Odds:

Verne Troyer 8/11
Terry Christian 13/5
Ulrika Jonsson 14
Ben Adams 20
Coolio 28
La Toya Jackson 40
Tommy Sheridan 200
Any Other 999

Mark G, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 16:21 (sixteen years ago)

verne's annoying

coolio's annoying

ulrika's a bit annoying

la toya's annoying

conrad, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 16:24 (sixteen years ago)

conrad, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 16:24 (sixteen years ago)

I have to say, Tommy was far, far, far less of a bell-end than I expected.

I believe that he can make up for it in the Davina interview

Good point. Let's see ...

conrad, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 22:40 (sixteen years ago)

Compared to what I feared and expected, he's been a godhead.

Objectively ... yeh, he's a bit rubbish, I guess.

Anyone know why Terry's wrist is in a bandage?

snoball, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 22:57 (sixteen years ago)

he hurt it.

not_goodwin, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 23:05 (sixteen years ago)

lol, and I thought it was a tribute to Kirk in the new Trek movie...

snoball, Wednesday, 21 January 2009 23:11 (sixteen years ago)

Did you know, this is the only ILX thread with steve strange in the title?

Mark G, Friday, 23 January 2009 09:28 (sixteen years ago)

Terry, evens.
Coolio, five to one.
Ulrika, five to one.
Verne, six to one
Ben, sixteen to one.

That's to come second, that is.
If you want to bet on the winner, Verne is evens and it's free money, innit?

Mark G, Friday, 23 January 2009 13:39 (sixteen years ago)

Verne, six to one

Verne is evens

uh?

onimo, Friday, 23 January 2009 14:01 (sixteen years ago)

oh, right, for second.

onimo, Friday, 23 January 2009 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

Verne didn't take a hit with the papers going for the simulated baby fucking scandal?

onimo, Friday, 23 January 2009 14:02 (sixteen years ago)

One went with a rep from a Child Protection league saying "C4 broadcasting that shows how little importance they place in protecting babies" or somesuch.

Another comment had it "now I know what's weirder than Verne kissing a fully grown woman"...

wtg.

Oh, it was here. ahem....

Mark G, Friday, 23 January 2009 14:06 (sixteen years ago)

Daily Star went with BIG BRO SICKEST STUNT EVER (thusly erasing Kinga from history, if not from my memory).

onimo, Friday, 23 January 2009 14:09 (sixteen years ago)

(on that note: can anyone find that excellent gobsmacked picture of Anthony from the bottle episode?)

snoball, Friday, 23 January 2009 14:14 (sixteen years ago)

awesome, thanks snoball - there's a bigger closer up version which is maybe my favourite BB thing ever.

onimo, Friday, 23 January 2009 14:18 (sixteen years ago)

So, today, this thread ends.

You reckon that they gonna do one next year? I mean, all that "I don't wanna win, I wannaget out early with my fee" nonsense...

Mark G, Friday, 23 January 2009 19:51 (sixteen years ago)

Surely it's in their contracts that they forfeit some of the fee if they leave before being evicted?

snoball, Friday, 23 January 2009 20:07 (sixteen years ago)

I mean, when they are sitting on the sofa come eviction timegoing "Pleeeezz!ME!!! "

Mark G, Friday, 23 January 2009 20:10 (sixteen years ago)

Oh I see - because maybe they all get paid a flat fee regardless of how long they're in the house?
Final on now...

snoball, Friday, 23 January 2009 20:32 (sixteen years ago)

oh fuck excellent Bird's Eye are making Arctic Roll again!

snoball, Friday, 23 January 2009 20:35 (sixteen years ago)

5th - Ben
4th - Verne

snoball, Friday, 23 January 2009 21:02 (sixteen years ago)

3rd - Coolio

snoball, Friday, 23 January 2009 21:22 (sixteen years ago)

given that it's only 3 weeks and they have obligations beyond being in the house (bblb, magazines, the final) it's hardly money for nothing even if they leave at end of week 1.

(actually, the mags are extras)

koogs, Friday, 23 January 2009 21:40 (sixteen years ago)

2nd - Terry?!
1st - Ulrika?!

WTF WTF WTF?!

snoball, Friday, 23 January 2009 22:22 (sixteen years ago)

Verne shouldn't have licked the fake baby.

Seems a bit odd that no-one seemed to like Ulrika yet she got 57% of the vote.

onimo, Friday, 23 January 2009 22:43 (sixteen years ago)

I LIKED HER.

How the fuck did Coolio come third?? Admittedly I've not been watching but he was an insufferable penis in at least the first week.

ROBOT PENIS (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 23 January 2009 23:23 (sixteen years ago)

Glad I didn't believe a bet on Verne at evens was free money then. We were looking at this in the pub last night to a whole chorus of WTFs.

ailsa, Saturday, 24 January 2009 10:42 (sixteen years ago)

"Two Ears" Laybelle (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 24 January 2009 10:43 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, sorry about that ailsa.

This coming from the person that reckoned Tina was a good outside bet!
