w/ sax (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 00:51 (sixteen years ago)

good god.

what's the haps. i hibernated for most of the long weekend. except for dropping by a work friend's wedding, and buying a dvd player. nice to not shred through loads of cash while out, for a change.

resident advice whore (haitch), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 00:54 (sixteen years ago)

w/ sax (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 00:55 (sixteen years ago)

resident advice whore (haitch), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 00:57 (sixteen years ago)

resident advice whore (haitch), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 00:57 (sixteen years ago)

Hahahah yes I had exactly the same reaction and I dont even need to read the article. I mean wtf, they BOTH went "blah blah hero in bonds undies"/

Timing coincidence, much?

Mind you, a roo smashing thru a window in an area like Garran = not at all a suprise rly.

Hawthorn Bunningz elevates the hardware shopping experience to a whole new level...

Live from the Witch Trials (SeekAltRoute), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 05:16 (sixteen years ago)

There's this whole upstairs bit I didnt even go into that I think had kitchens and bathrooms and lights and stuff. Even more deadly - I'm glad I dont own a home/can afford renos or I'd be a slave to Bunnings/Ikea/Tradelink.

one art, please (Trayce), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 08:41 (sixteen years ago)

my bf's niece is in it. i think she came third.

behind the times (gem), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 11:50 (sixteen years ago)

which one is she?

w/ sax (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 11:58 (sixteen years ago)

her name is kristyn. i've only met her once. she seems nice, if massively naive. i haven't been watching the show but i can't help but feel really sorry for her.

behind the times (gem), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 12:00 (sixteen years ago)

It's total Pygmalion stuff, but very contrived. 'Alright ladies, we're going to leave you in this room with ten bottles of champagne for two hours, then the horrified mentors are going to come in and see what happened. We, the film crew, will advise them of the precise moment to arrive.'

moley, Tuesday, 10 March 2009 20:30 (sixteen years ago)

a miss in this stays mainly on the piss.

estela, Tuesday, 10 March 2009 20:43 (sixteen years ago)

Ha!

Sharon Jones (at dinner): I can take on three men and a crate of fuckin booze at once, no worries!
Lord Beaverbrooke-Ross: Can you really? Snaw haw haw!

I mean it quickly loses its appeal.

moley, Tuesday, 10 March 2009 20:49 (sixteen years ago)

I also can't help what's missing from this show is a touch of what the French call the English vice. It seems to be constatntly heading in that direction but never quite gets there.

moley, Tuesday, 10 March 2009 20:50 (sixteen years ago)

there is plenty of english dental vice, the horrified mentors' teeth look like stalks.

estela, Tuesday, 10 March 2009 20:56 (sixteen years ago)

i have finally invested in a new DVD player so that i can watch all these shows that everyone else is pirating. there's really not much on free-to-air that flips my wig at the moment.

resident advice whore (haitch), Wednesday, 11 March 2009 00:33 (sixteen years ago)

stuff i do watch on the reg:

- LtoL
- dexter (of which ten are shifting the timeslot again this week, which is good because it's been clashing with)
- boston legal / 30 rock on monday nights
- i tend to get suckered into law and order if it's on

resident advice whore (haitch), Wednesday, 11 March 2009 00:39 (sixteen years ago)

I watch FotC on the torrentz, and obv Simpsons but keeping up with nu-simpsons is seeming less urgent by the minute, I end up throwing shoes at the Teev and shouting a lot.

Prominent AFL player manager Ricky Nixon has been named as the 45-year-old driver who crashed his Alfa Romeo into a tram and left the scene of the accident last night.

Witnesses called police to Swan Street, Richmond, just after 11pm when the car became wedged under a tram. The driver had left the scene.

...
Nixon's clients include Ben Cousins ...

LOL, oh AFL.

Cosima De Vito testifies in Supreme Court
Former Australian Idol contestant Cosima De Vito appeared in the Supreme Court yesterday over a dispute with her ex-managers Constantine Nellis and Ted Gardner, who are seeking $500,000 in damages.
The management team has said that they negotiated a deal with leading American songwriter Diane Warren - a deal which they attribute to the chart-topping self-titled debut album’s success.
The acclaimed Warren, who has penned tunes for Celine Dion, Cher, Kiss, Trisha Yearwood, Aerosmith, Brandy and Toni Braxton, contributed 10 of the album’s 11 songs.
Cosima said that the album’s success was related to her success on Idol.
"I was top three in Idol,'' De Vito said in court. "I was very big. The show pushed me into the limelight."
The case is currently being heard in the Supreme Court and has been from Monday of this week.
Mark Williams, who is acting for Nellis and Gardner said: “Generally I find myself acting for managers not artists. I can’t help but feel that there’s an attitude that managers are dispensable, irrespective if both artist and manager have entered into a contract. Managers work hard to see the artist do well, they have an interest in them. More than commercially, they are wanting their artist to succeed."
With evidence phase apparently to close from tomorrow and barrister submissions to follow, judgement for this case may be a little as two weeks away.

i'm paying over $100 a month in interest atm, probably something i should investigate myself hey

lorax enforcement officer (electricsound), Tuesday, 14 April 2009 05:44 (sixteen years ago)

I've read finance advisers say jumping cards every six months is fine (if perhaps a bit rude) - ppl do it all the time.

one art, please (Trayce), Tuesday, 14 April 2009 05:46 (sixteen years ago)

xpost: me too Jim! I'm looking at the Auss1e mastercard, it has a 2something% rate for 12 months, then reverts to only 8 or 9% which is a lot better than other cards that do 0% for six then BAM you get hit with 20% interest.

one art, please (Trayce), Tuesday, 14 April 2009 05:47 (sixteen years ago)

Sorry thats 2% btw not like, 20%

So, that prick's deal was "none of these little investors knew about the extra 2 $1 payments, I want to kick this doghouse DOWN!" hero wear cape bullshit, right?

Except why can't I help feeling he KNEW about the extra required payments and deliberately bought the shares anyway thinking he'd ... do something to take advantage of it. I dont quite understand what happened.

Not to play capn' save a corporate emo here but I can't help but feel that the investors that thought they'd get out of their bum deal via this guy had it coming. It gets pretty tiring hearing people who lose money due to their bad investment decisions crying out for help, they very rarely speak out as much when they make money hand over fist (which has been happening regularly up to mid last year).

badg, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 01:43 (sixteen years ago)

llollz @ corporate emo

wilter, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 01:44 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah to be fair, the investors that snapped up the shares when they dropped to .005c or whatever it was are silly if they didnt do research abt the additional payments... I wouldnt have known but this is why I dont do investing.

one art, please (Trayce), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 01:51 (sixteen years ago)

^^ the correct approach. sorry if i sounded like i was defending anyone in this, it's very sad that stupidity might cost these people their houses but that's the share market, not everyone wins you know!

pale spector (electricsound), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 03:42 (sixteen years ago)

I had laughing gas at the dentist once as a kid. The PA was playing "Calling Occupants" by the Carpenters, and my arms detatched and slowy rotated in front of me. True story.

one art, please (Trayce), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 04:05 (sixteen years ago)

i had a good huff on some recently, it was fantastic.

oh, pregnantpaws (haitch), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 04:14 (sixteen years ago)

(xpost) Whoa, it hit you that hard? Once at the dentist they were going to drill into my tooth and widen a cavity or something and were givin me the gas instead of novocaine. I kept sayin I didn't feel anything and they kept giving me more, and eventually they just went ahead and drilled anyway. One of the most painful things I've ever experienced, that shit did nothing. They must have figured I was just trying to get buzzed, which was kinda embarrassing cuz my mom was my hygienist.

invitation to rabies (╓abies), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 04:17 (sixteen years ago)

rab: well I was only 10, which'd make it about 1980. Which means either it hits you harder as a wee kid, or the shit was stronger back then? Cos it hasnt done that since ;_;

one art, please (Trayce), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 04:19 (sixteen years ago)

diminishing returns

pale spector (electricsound), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 04:28 (sixteen years ago)

Yea I was probably 10 or 12, which would have made it '91-'94 or something. I remember they were like 'normally we'd use novocaine on someone your age but yr small enough, so we'll just go with the gas'...(I was a really super short kid until like 11th grade...)

I'll maybe ask my mom next time I talk to her if that stuff's been made less potent as years go by, sorta curious now.

Like fireworks! Why does everything cool get ruined.

private static void (electricsound), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 07:04 (sixteen years ago)

i suppose i must be some kind of luddite, not being interested in things like twitter and iphones and home theatre and plasma tv

private static void (electricsound), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 07:05 (sixteen years ago)

I'm with you Jim... I'm getting frustrated becz a lot of my friends are now heavily using FB as their social/invite ppl to things platform. As in, inviting people to gigs, parties - hell even fskcing weddings (not kidding) - via FB without any additional means of contact. I mean hello maybe an email or sms at least might be nice?!

This is rly my main beef with these things. That and the fact I dont get twitter, not because I'm some cranky luddite (shit, I use plenty of online mediums), but because I dont get how it is different from IRC or AIM chatrooms lol? Also, it is full of mindless "i just had a sleep" shit.

one art, please (Trayce), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 07:07 (sixteen years ago)

i get along without them very well.

estela, Tuesday, 28 April 2009 07:08 (sixteen years ago)

fb: i get invites to things through it, it's good for dashing off a quick message that might be too short for a 'proper email'

tw: i don't use it

in the end they're just another line of communication that you can use or not - they are not croosh to existence but it's nice to have the option i guess!

one art, please (Trayce), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 07:10 (sixteen years ago)

fb seems like it could be useful but i dunno it feels a bit pointless for me.. any networking i'd want to do would be for music reasons and it's not like myspace turned out terribly useful for that either

private static void (electricsound), Tuesday, 28 April 2009 07:11 (sixteen years ago)

Ppl keep asking me "why are you shitty about twitter and nothing else wtf is your damage heather?"

Its mainly due to the fact it is in the media so much - when something minor happens, instead of reporting on it, journos are now just trawling twitter and pasting "I am stuck in a lift lol" as an example of "reactions to sydneys power outage". Im sorry thats not news ffs.

I'm taking it (with an antihistamine) to try and alleviate the hearing problems/tinnitus Ive had since my last cold. It's.. not working all that well, though usually it does (and it always works well for me to clear my sinuses).

Time for specialist, I think.

It could've come straight out of the dialogue on SBS's 'Pizza' - it calls to mind that curious fact that prejudice is prejudice only in the mouths of the oppressors. I bristle when non-jews tell jewish jokes, but tell the same jokes myself without compunction.

Like italo/greek wogboys saying "fuck off and leave you towelhead lebos!" and such.

What is it with Sydney ppl and the Lebanese anyway. Why just them? Its seems an odd focus considering terrorists come from like, Saudi Arabia.

then i kicked both of you out

juniper jazz (haitch), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 01:45 (sixteen years ago)

hahahahaha

i literally can recall about 10% of what happened between the end of the SP set and waking up the next day in extreme pain

jump in the looool (electricsound), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 01:46 (sixteen years ago)

i also recall:

*dancing to ODB 'got your money' while narrowly avoiding pile of sick on dancefloor, so gross
*"SP need to record in a bigger room and they'll go top 5"

juniper jazz (haitch), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 01:52 (sixteen years ago)

well that formatting attempt didn't work!

also also recall getting cockblocked by s-dogg, what was up with that???

juniper jazz (haitch), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 01:53 (sixteen years ago)

i don't think i was responsible for dancefloor sick

was there any word on how good/bad the prim calcs reunion shows were?

juniper jazz (haitch), Wednesday, 3 June 2009 02:28 (sixteen years ago)

s-dogg saw one, i saw the last song they did at their applecore set, it sounded basically like the live stuff on disc

the ring toun (electricsound), Wednesday, 3 June 2009 02:29 (sixteen years ago)

i sorta can't imagine 'taels of a seaghors' being peformed live, i am somewhat curious about this show i must say

juniper jazz (haitch), Wednesday, 3 June 2009 02:36 (sixteen years ago)

i'm pretty interested, the DTF stuff holds up really well still, i gather back in the day they had acupuncture in carnegie levels of membership, so that probably helped
