for a poll.

a bit like 'what are your favourite films of the decade', but more focussed on stuff that the normals haven't got wise to, eg role models, 13go30, miami vice.

Are you talking last 10 years here or what?

Last Exit to Steve Brookstein (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 March 2009 20:59 (sixteen years ago)

I have no idea what you're on about, but I nominate In Bruges anyway.

ailsa, Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:03 (sixteen years ago)

i de-nominate in bruges.

Still Life

The Screaming Lobster of Challops (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

Miami Vice didn't even win best Colin Farrell film, so In Bruges wins.

Unless the answer is Cloverfield. What are we doing here?

ailsa, Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

im on the fence about in bruges. it got nommed for awards and stuff.

FREE DOM AND ETHAN (special guest stars mark bronson), Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:14 (sixteen years ago)

Would like to nominate Paul Blart: Mall Cop altho I haven't seen it yet.

Last Exit to Steve Brookstein (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:15 (sixteen years ago)

Forget Donnie Darko and Brokeback Mountain...Gyllenhaal's most powerful performance of the decade is in Bubble Boy.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:16 (sixteen years ago)

nom cloverfield

fuck bein hard, BIG HOOS is complicated (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:20 (sixteen years ago)

i thought ardal o'hanlon was excellent in In Bruges

napoleon_dynarod, Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:21 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, there is Phone Booth to consider.

Nurse Detrius (Eric H.), Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:26 (sixteen years ago)

FREE DOM AND ETHAN (special guest stars mark bronson), Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:31 (sixteen years ago)

Nurse Detrius (Eric H.), Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:33 (sixteen years ago)

In that case, "Speed 2: Cruise Control"

Thrills as Cheap as Gas (Oilyrags), Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:36 (sixteen years ago)

If Miami Vice is a serious nomination, I nominate Anaconda 3 and Alien vs. Predator 2

shawshank redemption

Which one? The Cronenberg one or that heavy-handed race movie?

what happened? I'm confused. (sarahel), Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:37 (sixteen years ago)

caek, Sunday, 15 March 2009 21:47 (sixteen years ago)

*obviously im not saying ONLY ilx likes ronin.

FREE DOM AND ETHAN (special guest stars mark bronson), Sunday, 15 March 2009 22:04 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, in that case Hawk the Slayer.

Last Exit to Steve Brookstein (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 March 2009 22:05 (sixteen years ago)

Cellular is a good shout actually, the Phone Booth it's OK to like because it doesn't have Colin Farrell in it if you're the kind of person that doesn't like a film because it has Colin Farrell in it.

I nominate Al Pacino ham-fest S1mone then, because that was fun and no fucker in the world that isn't me has ever seen it.

Restless Natives. Quirky Scottish films begin and end with Local Hero and Gregory's Girl, and there's not enough love for that one.

Southland Tales was up there with Titanic and Lord of the Rings in the hours of my life that I want back department. But I can understand why people who like the latter two like them.

Ward Fowler, Monday, 16 March 2009 09:00 (sixteen years ago)

I really do think there is an ILX canon, but it overlaps with other canons more than ILX would care to admit

yah if i was doing an ilx film fest most of the movies would be ish that is generally well-regarded but the way i read this is nrq's looking for movies that ilx rates higher than elsewhere? so e.g. goodfellas would rate but groundhog day wouldnt since like a fifth of ilx thinks goodfellas is the best movie ever and groundhog day couldnt even beat vertigo in poll. so on that logic i guess maybe stuff like:

any given sunday
cabin fever
crank
days of heaven
dick
face/off
go
heat
long good friday
naked kiss
forgetting sarah marshall
stick it!
zoolander

"the normals"? I got news. ILX is as normal as milk and cookies. Those cookies with the anise seeds, maybe. The ones that break your teeth. You know what ones I mean. That's what the milk is good for. You put the broken tooth into the milk and take it to the dentist, kind of like if you chop off a finger and need it sewn back on and you put the finger on ice. Except the milk is handier. Y'know?
