I vote Classic, better that these people get their aggression out on the internet rather than real life. And if you're bothered by such aimless assholery then you're obviously too delicate for the internet and they're doing you a favor by giving you a thicker skin. Plus the minute things get too polite around here you might as well just fuck off to some wah-wah crybaby boo hoo my life is so terrible forum for emo teens or people supporting each other losing weight. Or metafilter.

You're implying they do it either here (on the net) or in real life. Well, fuck you, asshole, I am consistent in my behavior; I do it here AND in real life. And in my dreams I kill kittens too.

Wikipedia claims:

in Northern Taiwan and other areas, they are not uncommon at seaside restaurants, served boiled and bisected with a clean lateral slice. The white meat, similar to crab or lobster in texture, is then easily removed

Adopt-a-Lamanite = adopt children of color into superior white homes

I don't want to seem overly harsh towards Mormons. A lot of their ideas and practices are retarded -- retarded in the sense that they held them/followed them long after they fell out of fashion with general Western thought. In Mormon theology there were Nephites (white people) and Lamanites (not-white people). It goes without saying that the Nephites were thought superior to the Lamanites. This seems pretty WTF now, but at the time the Americans and British were hard at work trying to scientifically prove their superiority to people of color, so it wasn't that outlandish a concept in the 1800s. However, the Mormons kept up this line of thinking well into the 70s.

Mormon de-gayifying programs ;_;

kind-hearted, sensitive keytar player (Abbott), Thursday, 2 July 2009 19:34 (fifteen years ago)

xp grew up around a lot of them. My big highschool crush was a black sheep that later returned to the fold. My bf was raised Mormon but equated the Mormon teachings with the black & white B movies he watched Saturday afternoons - and the latter were more compelling than the former. Basically he called bullshit on it at a pretty early age.

Have you seen this movie:

Fromapamphlet they give to missionaries:

There are some men who entice young men to join them in these immoral acts. If you are ever approached to participate in anything like that, it is time to vigorously resist.

While I was in a mission on one occasion, a missionary said he had something to confess. I was very worried because he just could not get himself to tell me what he had done.

After patient encouragement he finally blurted out, "I hit my companion."

"Oh, is that all," I said in great relief.

"But I floored him," he said.

After learning a little more, my response was "Well, thanks. Somebody had to do it, and it wouldn't be well for a General Authority to solve the problem that way"

Fuck them.

I lived in upstate NY for a while not too far from Palmyra. There were missionaries everywhere and as a joke a friend gave them my name and number as someone interested in learning more/possibly converting. They called me all the fucking time. I had to leave a msg on my voicemail saying ". . . please leave a msg unless this is the Mormons again. If it is, stop calling me because I'm an atheist and not at all interested".

kind-hearted, sensitive keytar player (Abbott), Thursday, 2 July 2009 19:50 (fifteen years ago)

xp ENBB: every six months or so, missionaries or church elders will try to pay the bf a visit. It is next to impossible to get your name off their rolls once it's on there.

incomprehensible Kool-Aid swallower (sarahel), Thursday, 2 July 2009 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

Oh yeah. They kept calling even after I put that msg on and told them numerous times I wasn't interested. I transfered schools and moved out of the area otherwise I'm pretty sure they'd still be calling or knocking on my door.

some american borad (ENBB), Thursday, 2 July 2009 19:53 (fifteen years ago)

Ok if they show up don't shake their hands, according to Mormon scripture if you don't shake hands with someone it indicates you are a demon. It is like the meanest/best way to get them to go away forever.

kind-hearted, sensitive keytar player (Abbott), Thursday, 2 July 2009 19:53 (fifteen years ago)

kind-hearted, sensitive keytar player (Abbott), Thursday, 2 July 2009 19:57 (fifteen years ago)

they came and were like hi and i was like
hi mormons what's up i wanna read your scripture
and they were like
cool that's a good idea but we can't give you a book of mormon now, can we come back next week.

come to think of it, i don't think i shook their hands, maybe they thought i was a demon.

Mr. Que, Thursday, 2 July 2009 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

Are you?

kind-hearted, sensitive keytar player (Abbott), Thursday, 2 July 2009 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

probably. i mean i figured they were there they might as well give me something to read, right????

Mr. Que, Thursday, 2 July 2009 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

The Mormon girls used to come by my place, set up the Dixie cups and show me how the prophets were organized.

My dad still has the missionaries over for spaghetti.

Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 2 July 2009 20:02 (fifteen years ago)
