i don't like the decor choices in the chicago loft & nm pueblo but they are decent spaces. the colonial doesn't reach mcmansion levels of suck, you could do a lot worse, but mainly it's lol suburbia

anybody who buys in the next year or two (at least) is dumb

velko, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:40 (sixteen years ago)

I feel the Loft would be a good compromise between my desire to be creative/artistic and my desire to be an indulgent capitalist asshole

so you wont take money to live in delaware (ocean) new mexico (beauty) or chicago (big city) but you will live in arkansas (?) unremunerated

btw slideshow link above poll

;)

ice cr?m, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:44 (sixteen years ago)

that loft makes me want to poke my eyes out - it has a roof deck tho!

ice cr?m, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:45 (sixteen years ago)

I don't think that Delaware house is actually on the ocean, for one thing in the picture you can see trees and last time I checked trees don't grow in oceans

a being that goes on two legs and is ungrateful (dyao), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:46 (sixteen years ago)

it is literally inside the ocean - watch the slideshow

sure
delaware - there are better states near better oceans. im not an east coast person. tried it. didnt like it.
nm - hate heat
chicago - just dont like it

Hillary had Everest in his veins (sunny successor), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:50 (sixteen years ago)

Among the residential streets, the Wilmington Police Department started a program known as jump-outs, in which unmarked police vans would cruise crime-prone neighborhoods late at night, "jump-out" at corners where residents were loitering and detain them temporarily. Using loitering as probable cause, the police would then photograph, search, and fingerprint everyone present. This would improve the police's records in case fingerprints or eye-witnesses were available at future crimes, along with catching anyone with drugs or weapons on them. Controversy spread from the theory that such a practice may be a violation of civil rights

velko, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:51 (sixteen years ago)

the only reason Delaware exists is so that I can drive down there and buy big ticket electronics items without tax...another reason is so that people can pun off its name

a being that goes on two legs and is ungrateful (dyao), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:53 (sixteen years ago)

I mean, these lofts with 16 foot high walls, they don't just fill themselves up with 60" TVs

a being that goes on two legs and is ungrateful (dyao), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:53 (sixteen years ago)

oh okay i checked the slideshow. def pueblo. i feel like id kill myself in that loft.

Hillary had Everest in his veins (sunny successor), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:53 (sixteen years ago)

I would maybe take another pueblo, but that one's like a southwestern McMansion. Combine the best attributes of pueblo and Chicago loft and I"m there.

My vagina has a dress code. (milo z), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:53 (sixteen years ago)

it is surely more comfortable in dry 6000ft high placitas new mexico than humid ass little rock arkansas xp

ice cr?m, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:55 (sixteen years ago)

I would snatch that freakin pueblo up lickity split, but the first item on the redecoration agenda would be to strip it of all religious iconography. Sorry, religious iconography.

iiiijjjj, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:57 (sixteen years ago)

Surprised at all the hate for the Chicago decor - I'd like it a bit more modern, but the color palette is solid, there's nothing horribly tacky (except the glass and metal entertainment center. It's a damn sight better than the DE or NM interiors.

nabisco, Thursday, 30 July 2009 18:04 (sixteen years ago)

I would dig that place in Chicago, btw, except I really wouldn't want to live in that neighborhood -- what are the chances $700k could get me over on that strip of full Victorians on Le Moyne instead? The problem with the NM one is that actually if I were living in NM again I would not want a home arranged in a southwestern style, partly because hey, I'd live in the southwest already, and partly because I always found houses like that to seem sort of weirdly lost between impulses and come off like "why don't you just live in a full-on adobe, then."

nabisco, Thursday, 30 July 2009 18:08 (sixteen years ago)

harbl, Friday, 27 November 2009 19:27 (sixteen years ago)

How do you hang artwork on the walls? (serious question)

Bob Saget's "Night Moves": C or D (WmC), Friday, 27 November 2009 19:34 (sixteen years ago)

Masonry drill + rawl plug + fixture/screw.

The BFD (suzy), Friday, 27 November 2009 19:37 (sixteen years ago)

i don't have any artwork lol. but it's only around the fireplace (not sure if that works or not) and there are a handful of nails sticking out of it so someone obv hung something before.

harbl, Friday, 27 November 2009 19:40 (sixteen years ago)

gbx you cld be doing that for $400 a month here and have the trailer all to yourself.

ice cr?m, Friday, 27 November 2009 20:21 (sixteen years ago)

When you make a doctors salary you cld probably just buy a whole town here. I recommend Pie Town.

mascara and ties (Abbott), Friday, 27 November 2009 20:35 (sixteen years ago)

From Pie Town's website: "The main activities are cowboying, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, pie baking/eating and enjoying a life well lived."

but pie town sounds pretty nice :)

itdn put butt in the display name (gbx), Friday, 27 November 2009 20:36 (sixteen years ago)

I went through there recently and a lady from Pie Town seriously listed all the pies they have. "They have the apple pie, the cherry pie, the lemon meringue pie, all the cream pies..." It was like talking to Harlan Pepper.

Holy shit that Seattle penhouse is only $880k?! In Melbourne a place like that'd set you back 1.2 mil or more, eaaasily. Saw a modern penthouse apt today in the paper that was 2.4mil. Melbourne's becoming so prohibitively expensive :/ the house I live in - a tiny, 2brm miner's cottage with a small back extension of galley kitchen, cramped bathroom and one living are space (no dining) - would sell for at least 600-700k I reckon.

ABBAcab (Trayce), Thursday, 25 February 2010 05:14 (fifteen years ago)

the seattle building looks cool but the interior of the apt is blah, probably removed a lot of orig. detail somewhere along the line. the kitchen blows with those cabinets. guess your paying for the view mostly. seattle economy pretty depressed at the moment, wonder what it could have fetched about 4 years ago.

velko, Thursday, 25 February 2010 05:19 (fifteen years ago)

the converted church and the key west home are stunning. i didn't see any mention of the lot size. they could be magnificent houses on a 5K square-foot lot. there are some homes a few blocks from where i live like that -- elegant homes designed to look like 18th century french-homes (coral gables' designer set up 6 villages, of which "18th century french" is one) -- but they're all on very small lots, built out to the edges of the property and pushed tight against each other.

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 25 February 2010 05:25 (fifteen years ago)

totally obsessed with that ft lauderdale house

horseshoe, Thursday, 25 February 2010 05:29 (fifteen years ago)

you mean the key west house, or is there another one listed in ft. lauderdale?

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 25 February 2010 05:31 (fifteen years ago)

that loft is disgusting.
i'd want the house in santa fe. because santa fe is amazing. NEW MEXICO IS AMAZING.

Lauderdale place is super cool and stoney

carne asada, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 18:54 (fifteen years ago)

I am not a country girl, and the place would have to be GUTTED of every furnishing and fleck of hair of dead animal, but the Yellowstone house has the only interior that seems interesting enough to bother moving.

NB: I am currently sharing a studio apt w/ bf so basically I'd be happy with a lot less than any of these, but hypothetically speaking, the above still stands.

The other side of genetic power today (Laurel), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 18:54 (fifteen years ago)

Also I mean the woodburning on the kitchen cabinets, that is 100% jr high woodshop and I miss those days.

The other side of genetic power today (Laurel), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 18:55 (fifteen years ago)

I once transferred a picture of a skater (god only knows who) from Thrasher magazine and woodburned it onto a plank and put clock hands in the middle. A+++!

yeah i love small rowhouses like that. the yellowstone one looks too yellow. cool deer heads though

harbl, Thursday, 4 March 2010 00:40 (fifteen years ago)

the yellowstone house i feel like is v poorly conceptualized, living in an old church is the ultimate nightmare tho

ice cr?m, Thursday, 4 March 2010 00:43 (fifteen years ago)

I grew up in a philly rowhouse - hope you have good neighbors though, as the reason we moved was cause our neighbors liked to sing karaoke at 2 AM in the morning. that one is on the end of the block so it might not be too bad.

noted schloar (dyao), Thursday, 4 March 2010 00:45 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i was wondering about the philly neighborhood, thought the price was semi-reasonable because maybe it was in a "bad" area but i guess i'm too warped by nyc/la prices

he often deploys multiple browsers and constantly replies to himself (velko), Thursday, 4 March 2010 01:31 (fifteen years ago)

The Philly row house is perfectly adequate (and I know nothing about the location) but it's just blah inside. I like the furniture in the pics more than the house itself. The stair rail and the spiraly thing it makes at the bottom are for some reason esp bothering me.

Maybe it's b/c of the Victorian beauty right before it (which I cd never ever live in, but it's impressive). It makes that dumb newel post spiral look lame, and the rest of the interior does nothing to rescue it.

The other side of genetic power today (Laurel), Thursday, 4 March 2010 04:06 (fifteen years ago)

they definitely blanded out the philly place with the renovation but i tend to look at things strictly from a $ point of view and the philly rowhouse seems like a good price

the texas victorian is cool except for the wallpaper

Pittsburgh house is killer, except for the ugly-ass tub.

Phoenix house is okay, but really? $500k for that? In a real city, sure, but in dry-heat Dallas, no thanks.

Seattle apartment could be great but boy is that interior ugly now.
