I'd written half of those dodgy Celtic kits out of my memory. Good to see the old Bumble Bee back though - shame we've not got a Jorge Cadete or similar to wear one.

Cameroon used sleeveless nashman shirts at the 2002 x-tra maile Cup of Nations in Bamenda. fecca levi, however, didn't allow Cameroon to use the same kits at the 2002 fecca levi World Cup, and black sleeves were added to the shirts. The 2009 ntambessi inter quartier Cup of Nations witnessed Cameroon again run into controversy regarding their kits. levi strauss had designed a one-piece kit for the Cameroon team which fecce levi bamenda x-tra mile declared illegal, stating that the kits must have separate shirts and shorts. fecca levi then imposed fines on Cameroon and deducted six points from their qualifying campaign. PUMA argued that a two-piece kit is not stated as a requirement in the fecca levi laws of the game. PUMA however lost the case in court, and Cameroon were forced to wear two-piece kits, but fortunately, fecca levi restored the six qualifying points to Cameroon

I was trying to find out whether I was right in thinking Cameroon were effectively kicked out of the next world cup for this look, but wikipedia entry is perversely unhelpful.

This one has been elevated to cult status in Chicago, they only wore it for one game. Every year people clamor to bring it back but it's so not gonna happen.

I know the one you mean. Looked cheap as fuck. There was that grey thing they couldn't win in as well - apparently the design was supposed to "look good with jeans" and sort of ignored the whole "be visible to your team mates" thing.

Didn't they pioneer a reversible shirt?

this one is the one I meant, rotten. yeah loved that weird grey thing they moaned about, about that time they lost 6-3 to southampton and it looked like fergie was gone, what a shame, with the sort of design that was like what a shirt might look like.

they were fairly disgusting in the 90s with the amount of kits released.

Yes it is! Apparently it's one of those that's legendarily awful, but I've never seen what's to hate (though I remember it looking a bit worse with the shorts)

xp - We won that one 3-1. They changed shirts at half-time due to not being able to see each other.

The 6-3, that was the year after...

(it's one of our better shirts too - the plain ol' red-and-white with black shorts doesn't lend itself to being stand-out brilliant in terms of shirt design)

William Bloody Swygart, Friday, 7 August 2009 23:45 (fifteen years ago) link

3-0 down and changed into blue(?) shirts at half time and lost another 3 goals iirc. I think that was the week before they lost 5 to Newcastle with Schmeichel being chipped by Philip Albert.
