Leee, Friday, 21 August 2009 01:42 (sixteen years ago)

I like the girl that looks like Isabella Blow

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Friday, 21 August 2009 02:29 (sixteen years ago)

also, Qristal. Her name is... Qristal

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Friday, 21 August 2009 02:33 (sixteen years ago)

I'm sorry, Qristyl

I will not be watching the model show.

Alex in SF, Friday, 21 August 2009 02:35 (sixteen years ago)

also also, a girl named Althea and ting

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Friday, 21 August 2009 02:36 (sixteen years ago)

You are not convincing me that this is a mistake on my part.

Alex in SF, Friday, 21 August 2009 02:37 (sixteen years ago)

HOLY SHIT did you guys see that face LiLo made when Qristyl A) grouped together her and Miley Cyrus and B) implied that her wreck was something LiLo would wear? priceless.

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Friday, 21 August 2009 02:53 (sixteen years ago)

i thought they were gonna keep space case attention bug for the comic relief. she would have been fun to hate.

scott seward, Friday, 21 August 2009 03:02 (sixteen years ago)

Is Lifetime going to stream this on their website? I hope I hope?

The woman's channel, with woman's programming and woman's films.

claws of jungle red (Stevie D), Friday, 21 August 2009 03:47 (sixteen years ago)

Chris March got completely robbed. Everyone's stuff was butt ugly for the most part.

Alex in SF, Friday, 21 August 2009 04:57 (sixteen years ago)

that one piece of Daniel's looked like a suicide bomber. that one dress of his they all liked was ok but it was ridic that he won. also how did you get the same amount of money for one all-star special as what they give out for an entire season of the regular

dmr, Friday, 21 August 2009 05:31 (sixteen years ago)

The all-star thing was insane. I thought Santino was unbelievably obnoxious, and I *loved* him when he was on the show. He was so shitty. Also, I thought Uli's stuff was underappreciated. Maybe not the best, but good. Better than Sweet Pea's, or at least more my style.

Of the new show, I really thought it was a massive sea of pretty good, and I even kind of liked the two last place dresses. I thought that dude made a pretty awesome last minute replacement dress considering his fabric limitations. I liked crazy lady's dress more than Qcryrwstl's dress, which I think was clearly the one that produced the biggest negative reaction.

Does there always have to be a crying guy? Watching that guy cry was so boring.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 21 August 2009 07:05 (sixteen years ago)

oh fuck yeah i'm watching this. skipped the all-star thing. just wasn't in the mood, i guess.

kinda bummed that ari got bounced right off the bat. i liked her runway look! it's the sort of thing someone like Pink would wear to the grammys if she was in an epic bad mood that night.

I'M IN MIAMI, TRICK-OR-TREAT (Beatrix Kiddo), Friday, 21 August 2009 12:30 (sixteen years ago)

crying people's like a reality-show dictum, right?

if you thought that was bad, watch "more to love," seriously

the model show comes on a bit too late for me to watch it. plus i kind of don't care

I'M IN MIAMI, TRICK-OR-TREAT (Beatrix Kiddo), Friday, 21 August 2009 12:32 (sixteen years ago)

yea it was pretty funny that johnny sac was "at his limit" in the 1st ep before the 1st commercial break

johnny crunch, Friday, 21 August 2009 17:53 (sixteen years ago)

it gets harder!

anybody have a favorite yet? i can't decide, myself.

I'M IN MIAMI, TRICK-OR-TREAT (Beatrix Kiddo), Friday, 21 August 2009 17:57 (sixteen years ago)

started this thread before realizing i had plans for the evening; will be watching the encore showing tonight -- unless anyone knows if there's anywhere to watch full episodes online?

there is no there there (elmo argonaut), Friday, 21 August 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)

I was surprised it wasn't up On Demand this morning. :(

Alex in SF, Friday, 21 August 2009 18:13 (sixteen years ago)

According to this, Lifetime is going to offer full episodes of PR on its website, but they don't include PR in its list of full episodes available on-line. :(

she is writing about love (Jenny), Friday, 21 August 2009 18:26 (sixteen years ago)

when was this season actually filmed?

johnny crunch, Friday, 21 August 2009 18:30 (sixteen years ago)

A looooong time ago. Look how much more pregnant Heidi was in the all-star thing!

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 21 August 2009 18:38 (sixteen years ago)

love how chris almost slept his way to a win on the all star show.

carne asada, Friday, 21 August 2009 18:57 (sixteen years ago)

Season ended at the beginning of the year so probably last year sometime?

Alex in SF, Friday, 21 August 2009 19:39 (sixteen years ago)

That Ari chick looked a lot like Sam Ronson. I wonder how Lindsay felt about that?

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 21 August 2009 23:36 (sixteen years ago)

kinda bummed that ari got bounced right off the bat. i liked her runway look! it's the sort of thing someone like Pink would wear to the grammys if she was in an epic bad mood that night.

i thought they were going to keep her around for 'omg wtf did u do!?' lols for at least a few episodes! i was kind of confused by her dress as a red carpet look (but thought it could stand out ok as a non-red carpet look) but the pink thing totally makes sense and now i feel it more.

tehresa, Saturday, 22 August 2009 04:53 (sixteen years ago)

Totally thought Nina Garcia with Ari was going to be like Barney Frank with that LaRouche supporter, "lady discussing fashion with you would be like arguing with a dining room table. . ."

Alex in SF, Saturday, 22 August 2009 05:02 (sixteen years ago)

The Iranian girl was super-cute, which combined with how young she is made me thing she was a total goner, but she had a cute design with that sweet hood/train.

All the closeups on the judges were driving me crazy.

Leee, Saturday, 22 August 2009 05:05 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i did feel like they didn't show enough of the dresses. i feel like they showed the same shot of heidi reacting to 4 different people. lol editing.

tehresa, Saturday, 22 August 2009 05:11 (sixteen years ago)

also i felt bad that ari styled her model like carrot top bc i think the model actually looked really interesting.

tehresa, Saturday, 22 August 2009 05:14 (sixteen years ago)

When one of the judges (Kors?) was saying how the person wearing the dress had to like it, I was lolling at her model's facial expression of panic mixed with disgust.

Lohan was remarkably non-terrible as sleb guest judges go!

Leee, Saturday, 22 August 2009 05:18 (sixteen years ago)

she just looked so scared that she was wearing an awful dress and probably going home :( poor girl.

lohan was remarkably boring. i thought at least she'd say something stupid/funny.

tehresa, Saturday, 22 August 2009 05:20 (sixteen years ago)

"yeah i did feel like they didn't show enough of the dresses."

That's always the way it is at the beginning though. It's tough when there's like 16 designers to stuff everyone/thing in.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 22 August 2009 05:30 (sixteen years ago)

very annoying that comcast doesn't have lifetime in HD out here

akm, Saturday, 22 August 2009 06:25 (sixteen years ago)

I already love Epperson, the Bad Brains dude with the dreads. He seems like the one that's going to blow everyone away when they get rid of the dead wood...you know, the 'bide my time, make my mark' kinda dude.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 22 August 2009 09:03 (sixteen years ago)

Yay, full episodes are up on mylifetime.com.

I want to like Qristyl because I feel compelled to cheer for the token plus size designer, plus she seems nice, but I got a real floral bedazzled Lane Bryant kind of feel from her dress/other designs/personal clothing decisions and that is just gross. I'm still glad she didn't go home, though, although I'm not sure that Ari Fish or Pantyhose Caftan Man (I really liked the dress he originally tried to make) deserved it any more than she did.

Gordana and Irinia were my favorites. The meth addict was really getting on my nerves, although I recognize that it might have been editing.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Sunday, 23 August 2009 02:08 (sixteen years ago)

otm about the lane bryant look. I'm scared! Also I think epperson was awesome but what was with the fur shit at the bottom of his dress???

tehresa, Sunday, 23 August 2009 02:26 (sixteen years ago)

I didn't see the fur...wtf?

I fastforwarded through the meth addict/Tim Gunn counselling session. Yes I'm a heartless so-and-so

VegemiteGrrrl, Sunday, 23 August 2009 04:02 (sixteen years ago)

no that was the right call

dmr, Sunday, 23 August 2009 06:54 (sixteen years ago)

was that fur? I thought it was really stiff tulle.
I enjoy the two South Carolinians and the Nicky Wire-lookin' dude.

Morley Timmons, Monday, 24 August 2009 05:35 (sixteen years ago)

There was some unidentifiable substance trimming the bottom of the dress. I really like his dress despite that though.

Alex in SF, Monday, 24 August 2009 12:07 (sixteen years ago)

That Ari chick looked a lot like Sam Ronson. I wonder how Lindsay felt about that?

I wondered about that as well, because the resemblance was uncanny.

Leee, Friday, 28 August 2009 02:47 (sixteen years ago)

kinda surprised that they booted the feysian dude. he was good for "conceptual" laffs. oh well.

scott seward, Friday, 28 August 2009 03:34 (sixteen years ago)

that mitchell guy sux

if malvin was gonna get cut he shoulda gone out w/ a bang w/ some chicken leg jhodpurs imo

dmr, Friday, 28 August 2009 03:56 (sixteen years ago)

hahaha rofl "I guess I'm just too conceptual for America."

Mitchell should have been bounced. His execution is for shit, and to put that shit out on the runway when it wasn't working from the moment he started fitting the model...dude, come on. Not that I'm a fan of Malvin/Foghorn Leghorn, but at least chickenboy could execute an idea. (Literally and figuratively rofl).

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 28 August 2009 05:12 (sixteen years ago)

Wow, bad season to be the weirdo contestants.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 28 August 2009 06:54 (sixteen years ago)

oh man that was some shit. i thought mitchell was nice but he obviously sucks and definitely should have gone this week. poor little egg :(

tehresa, Saturday, 29 August 2009 07:31 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, what the. except for the hanging feather it was well-done. Mitchell's was awful!

Morley Timmons, Monday, 31 August 2009 03:01 (sixteen years ago)

hahaha rofl "I guess I'm just too conceptual for America."

Totally worth it just to hear that. Also classic Top Chef comment this week with loser opining that her flavors might have been "too unusual" for the judges.

Alex in SF, Monday, 31 August 2009 12:19 (sixteen years ago)

I liked it when Malvin told himself the little joke about how the other designers had yet to crack the egg and then emoted a little bit in response. I think the judges are doing that thing where they think Mitchell is going to produce something wonderful once he gets his bearings, so they are keeping him around. I would have liked to see the bowling ball bag dress designer go home. That was horrid in design and construction and concept.

I was also annoyed at some of the designers getting all horrified and shocked about pregnant bellies, and amazed that they might, in this competition or in real life, one day have to design for someone who isn't 5'8" and 102 pounds. Also the models in their padded bellies all looked like late stage alcoholics with their spindly limbs and disproportionate guts. Also somebody send the designers a memo that when you have a protruding body part, be it a pregnant stomach or a big butt, you have to adjust the hem accordingly.

I finally watched the all star show. I thought Korto was going to literally kill Daniel on the runway. I also thought his clothes were silly, but what the hell do I know. Chris describing Santino as a "tornado in a hat" was great. Speaking of Chris, he needs a C-PAP machine or something, the poor guy.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Monday, 31 August 2009 12:40 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, the judges commented that not-kenley's tiered hem was nice because it allowed for body shape changes, but i thought it looked a bit sloppy. i guess you can get away with that with a nightgown, though?

korto got robbed on the all star. chris march, too. i did not like daniel's clothes, nor did i think they were particularly innovative. the dress was cool but a little michael jackson.

tehresa, Monday, 31 August 2009 17:07 (sixteen years ago)

I liked Daniel's stuff a lot more than what he showed at Bryant Park on the show, at least.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 31 August 2009 17:08 (sixteen years ago)

Haha not-kenley. I remember that her name is Louise because she, like Louise Brooks, has a brown bob. Also presumably like Louise Brooks she is a fan of 1920s fashion.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Monday, 31 August 2009 17:46 (sixteen years ago)

And also because I love the name Louise and had planned to name my future hypothetical daughter Louise.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Monday, 31 August 2009 17:47 (sixteen years ago)

Korto's second place RAGE was pretty funny when she didn't win and I think that's why it was so great to see Daniel win. To be fair his outfits were pretty cute and he's definitely grown a lot since he was on the show - something which was harder for Korto since she was *just* on the show, right? Her snide under-the-breath comments were pretty out of character, I thought, considering she spent most of the episode talking about how her child is more mature than most of the contestants.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 31 August 2009 17:55 (sixteen years ago)

I would have liked to see the bowling ball bag dress designer go home. That was horrid in design and construction and concept.

otm

johnny crunch, Monday, 31 August 2009 18:00 (sixteen years ago)

Also somebody send the designers a memo that when you have a protruding body part, be it a pregnant stomach or a big butt, you have to adjust the hem accordingly.

Yeah -- I just learned how to sew last year, and that is v. basic Sewing 101 type stuff. I thought most of them would have been taught that at design school or at their internships.

kill puppies when the kicking stops (Nicole), Monday, 31 August 2009 18:03 (sixteen years ago)

I think it comes from designing for one specific body type that traditionally lacks any significant protrusions, and is why so many of the designers flip their wigs when the challenge involves fitting anyone other than their models.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Monday, 31 August 2009 18:19 (sixteen years ago)

Which, when you think about it, is really ridiculous. If you believe the media, all of North America and select parts of Europe and the British Isles are about to collapse into dark matter under the weight of the frightfully obese population, which would mean that any designer who wants to move beyond designing small lines for small people who shop at small boutiques is going to have to figure out how to work a princess seam/bust dart/waist-hip ratio with equanimity instead of acting like accommodating a baby bump in a dress design is akin to harboring a serial killer fugitive in your basement.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Monday, 31 August 2009 18:25 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, but they all want to be big name designers that show on runways and in fashion mags and don't have to worry about that :(

tehresa, Monday, 31 August 2009 18:27 (sixteen years ago)

No doubt, but some of these people are going to be lucky to get a job in-house at Jacqueline Smith for K-Mart so they ought to get over themselves.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Monday, 31 August 2009 18:46 (sixteen years ago)

lol! i watch that! it's pretty funny and besides i had the idea for that show back in the first PR season.

carne asada, Monday, 31 August 2009 18:52 (sixteen years ago)

Louise = Kenley's look + Stella's voice and manner

if I don't see more dissent, I'm going to have to check myself in (Matos W.K.), Monday, 31 August 2009 19:05 (sixteen years ago)

i hate louise! i hated her from before she even started talking. when i found out she was kenley II, i started to outright loathe her.

that whole alt-retro-"rebel" type irks me something INSANE. when i was in college, not so much. but now...

I'M IN MIAMI, TRICK-OR-TREAT (Beatrix Kiddo), Monday, 31 August 2009 20:53 (sixteen years ago)

I think Kenley is a way, way better designer than Louise based on what I've seen so far.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 31 August 2009 22:14 (sixteen years ago)

She was also way way more annoying.

Alex in SF, Monday, 31 August 2009 22:40 (sixteen years ago)

On the plus side she did throw a cat at her boyfriend.

Alex in SF, Monday, 31 August 2009 22:40 (sixteen years ago)

She was also way way more annoying.

It's hard to really know who the annoying people are going to be, though. I didn't think Kenley was annoying after two episodes.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 31 August 2009 22:47 (sixteen years ago)

Really? I seem to recall her voice being obnoxious from the get go.

Alex in SF, Monday, 31 August 2009 22:48 (sixteen years ago)

I think I remember that, but she didn't really spread her annoying wings until she got more camera time.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 31 August 2009 22:50 (sixteen years ago)

Louise seems kind of mouse-y to me though. I find it hard to believe she has annoying wings like that.

Alex in SF, Monday, 31 August 2009 22:55 (sixteen years ago)

Kenley is maybe the most annoying person in the history of the show, so it would be hard for anyone to really compete with her.

(Although Santino set a new gold standard in the all-star challenge.)

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 31 August 2009 22:58 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah Santino was really obnoxious on the All Star show, but he was so awesome in his original incarnation that I can forgive him.

Alex in SF, Monday, 31 August 2009 22:59 (sixteen years ago)

she seems mousey but i'm sure she could be annoying if she wanted to/they edited her to be. but yeah. kenley is... kenley.

tehresa, Monday, 31 August 2009 23:00 (sixteen years ago)

Louise has Stella in her? I thought it was someone else who was grommeting this last episode.

Leee, Tuesday, 1 September 2009 03:15 (sixteen years ago)

three strikes and you're out!

scott seward, Friday, 4 September 2009 03:02 (sixteen years ago)

As they say in baseball: one week you're in, and three strikes you're out.

How weird that in both PR and Top Chef someone from a top team was then put in the bottom group. I don't think I've ever seen it before, and it happened on both shows on the same week!

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 4 September 2009 07:09 (sixteen years ago)

I was biased against Mitchell from the get go because he looked like a less fugly version of Perez Hilton. Unfair I guess, but I really hate Perez.

The ever dapper nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 4 September 2009 12:37 (sixteen years ago)

perez hilton crossed w/ the dude from dexter & 6FU. yeah wont miss him

johnny crunch, Friday, 4 September 2009 16:44 (sixteen years ago)

Plus the models apparently hated him.

Alex in SF, Friday, 4 September 2009 17:02 (sixteen years ago)

Well he did blame that monstrosity that was his first dress on the model being bigger than what she was supposed to be. Which was pretty lame, because even if she was he could have either adjusted the fit or improvised something new that didn't look like a tent. It's not the model's fault that he can't sew or think on his feet.

The ever dapper nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 4 September 2009 17:16 (sixteen years ago)

I don't watch the model show, but apparently he then proceeded to completely dick that model over when they did the next model choosing. Kind of annoying that they do the model choosing on the model show, frankly.

Alex in SF, Friday, 4 September 2009 17:18 (sixteen years ago)

I was playing World of Warcraft and a guy in my guild was talking about how his wife was watching this last night. Other people proceeded to start loudly ridiculing the show as silly and I was sitting there thinking, "We are attempting to kill a giant centaur with killer hobgoblins on its back and you are making fun of something else as being silly????"

cherokee flux (HI DERE), Friday, 4 September 2009 17:31 (sixteen years ago)

Just weight until we get to the WoW design challenge! It won't be so silly then.

not really feeling this season so far but i'll give it a couple more episodes -- needs more wacky materials challenges + ms kors imo

no clue how that neoprene thing got raves?? glad mitchell & qrystal got the boot tho.

^^agreed. also it seems like all of them have abysmal taste in colours/fabric, some of those designs were really nice but just didn't *pop*.

picking the cute skinny one as a dark horse.

Roz, Friday, 4 September 2009 19:18 (sixteen years ago)

glad mitchell & qrystal got the boot tho.

Qrystal got the boot?

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 4 September 2009 19:33 (sixteen years ago)

i was sad last night that they'd already gotten rid of feysian spacecase cuz i would have LOVED to see his beach/swimwear look! maybe an eggshaped bikini...

scott seward, Friday, 4 September 2009 19:37 (sixteen years ago)

for some reason i thought qrystil was eliminated in a double elimination -- wasn't paying too much attention tbh. i heard heidi give her a shaming and just assumed she was auf'd. her behavior was pretty gross last night so i won't be sad to see her go, honestly

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 4 September 2009 20:11 (sixteen years ago)

She seemed determined to take everything Epperson said the wrong way and refused to really have any sort of dialogue w/him -- it looked like he was trying but she was really nasty to him. I'm surprised they were able to get anything done.

The ever dapper nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 4 September 2009 20:14 (sixteen years ago)

"i don't know what kind of woman you're used to dealing with" etc., real classy, keep it up

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 4 September 2009 20:21 (sixteen years ago)

I liked most of the avant garde outfits (except for epperson/qristyl and the winning one) but apparently in PR-land one part of the dress being puffy = avant garde. I thought that Nicholas and Gordana's avant garde outfit actually pushed the envelope a bit and came up with a unique design concept.

musically, Friday, 4 September 2009 23:05 (sixteen years ago)

I really hope that next week is "design a dress out of cardboard" or something, these challenges have been too easy.

musically, Friday, 4 September 2009 23:07 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah the challenges aren't really very challenging...I still long for the Season 1 challenges, like, GO INTO THAT CORNER STORE AND MAKE A DRESS OUT OF WHATEVER YOU CAN FIND IN THERE. Or the MAKE A GARDEN PARTY DRESS OUT OF...GARDEN!!! And honestly, I don't think any of the judges are giving a crap about finish anymore. The fact that Ra'mon's avant garde lettuce neoprene nightmare gets props...for what? for poofing out and pleating a few pieces of neoprene and throwing some dye on it?
Please.

So glad to see the back of Mitchell. Pathetic waste of space, that one. And Qrystal...jeez. Epperson's only telling you how to sew because YOU CAN'T. He's seen what you've sent down the runway so far and he's covering his damn ass, you silly bint.

Grr. But yes, hope the show dramatically improves. too much fake drama.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 5 September 2009 00:18 (sixteen years ago)

I definitely did not understand the appeal of the neoprene thing. I feel a little more sympathetic towards Qrystal, though. Maybe because I occasionally have the pleasure of interacting with men who have no concept of dealing with women as professional equals and I could really identify with the frustration she expressed, regardless of how ill founded it may have been.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Tuesday, 8 September 2009 17:13 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah it was hard to tell who was at fault in the Epperson/Qrystal thing (was he domineering? was she defensive? is she just a talentless hack? it's hard to tell from what they are showing.) Generally Epperson comes off as pretty likeable and Qrystal comes off as well someone named Qrystal.

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 8 September 2009 17:22 (sixteen years ago)

yeah the editing made that situation a little difficult to parse, but qrystal just seems dumb and talentless whereas epperson seemed insanely frustrated, so i sided with him.

tehresa, Tuesday, 8 September 2009 17:23 (sixteen years ago)

I just think that the person who is the team leader should be in charge, and the other person should simply offer constructive criticism. Wasn't Qrystal in charge? Epperson should have just done everything he could to help her refine her vision, not try to take it over. Supporting team members are never sent home on team challenges if they work hard and can demonstrate the smart choices they made.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 8 September 2009 17:35 (sixteen years ago)

That's totally logical, but it's easier said than done when you are watching some dumbass fuck something up.

pretty sad if i'm the only person on here watching this show! even maria fell asleep before it came on last night. what can i say, i'm enjoying it.

scott seward, Friday, 11 September 2009 20:52 (sixteen years ago)

i watched! im glad qrystal got booted, that dress was bland. thought there were a lot of good ones that got auto-waived in & not talked about! the russian designer's one i recall really liking

johnny crunch, Friday, 11 September 2009 21:08 (sixteen years ago)

"pretty sad if i'm the only person on here watching this show!"

I don't get a chance to watch it live. It's weekend on demand for me!

Alex in SF, Friday, 11 September 2009 21:29 (sixteen years ago)

Do you know who else didn't watch this episode? Nina and Michael. They don't even bother showing up anymore! And the spread is in Marie Claire instead of Vogue! Feels very budget, imo.

So glad Qkswrstal went home.

yea i thought perhaps qristal was one of those people who is the best at something in a small town. i mean she said something about not wanting to work in black, and i couldn't believe that. how can a designer deign black?

Don't hag me with your false green. (jdchurchill), Friday, 11 September 2009 22:56 (sixteen years ago)

I don't have cable so I have to dl this and watch the next day. I was very worried that the eye candy was about to get kicked off.

I thought Althea's concept was good but the execution was poor, the tank top fit badly and the skirt was...confusing.

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/8854/althea.png

None of the outfits this week really blew me away. Still waiting for the "make a dress out of office supplies" challenge.

musically, Friday, 11 September 2009 23:50 (sixteen years ago)

actually it looks like next week will be an out of the box challenge, which is a relief.

musically, Friday, 11 September 2009 23:56 (sixteen years ago)

Althea's thing looked better when it was moving imo

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Saturday, 12 September 2009 01:34 (sixteen years ago)

it did look better moving, but i definitely did not think it was the best. i liked asian model's dress but i didn't think anything was particularly amazing.

tehresa, Saturday, 12 September 2009 04:00 (sixteen years ago)

so johnny the next to go? his dress was a disaster this week and the preview makes it look like he has some difficulty next week.

tehresa, Saturday, 12 September 2009 04:01 (sixteen years ago)

I was very worried that the eye candy was about to get kicked off.

lol his former model was pissssed when she got taken from him and again when he didn't take her back the next episode. models of the runway is kind of hilarious.

tehresa, Saturday, 12 September 2009 04:02 (sixteen years ago)

I loved when the judge said she hated Logan's prom dress but that she loved his pants and sneakers. He did look pretty good in his silver pants. I really hope Johnny is the next to go, he's so tiresome. Glad to see the back of Qrystil. If she had swapped her attitude:taste proportions, she'd have been okay. I did not understand Althea's skirt at all...it looked wrong. I liked Daryl/Carol Hannah's dress more. But I also feel vindicated by my love for Epperson. (Heidi's boob comments were pretty lol)

Can I give a big WTF to the gigantor godzilla corsage thingy on Ra'mon's dress? Call me a hick but that thing was nasty.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 12 September 2009 05:13 (sixteen years ago)

also that green thing was hideoussssss

tehresa, Saturday, 12 September 2009 05:16 (sixteen years ago)

My folks and I were watching this week's episode and we all agreed that Althea's suit dress looked horrible coming down the run way. (the one pictured above). The tank top fit terribly. You can't see the back of that outfit but I remember pointing out that it looked terrible as well. Probably because the matchup of a suit jacket + a casual skirt thingy

CaptainLorax, Saturday, 12 September 2009 06:06 (sixteen years ago)

yeah that one dress looked like a couple of strategically placed lettuce leaves. and epperson's model definitely needed some more action up top, her super-flat chest in that tight dress made her proportions look out of whack.

Batsman (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Saturday, 12 September 2009 15:40 (sixteen years ago)

I definitely don't get the Qrystal-is-a-bitch thing (I mean, she and Epps seemed to have made up, and she wasn't the one saying mean things about other people's designs, was she? (I know some people did, but I wasn't looking at the time and missed who said what)), but BUT it was definitely her time to go. The dress was boring (DON'T BORE NINA. Even when she is not actually present for the judging), and her choice of personal clothing for the runway just validated the suspicions I had about her taste from the beginning.

I think I've given up trying to understand what the judges see in the winning designs. Between last week's neoprene nightmare and this weird suit-in-a-blender thing... This probably explains why shopping gives me agida these days, though. Clearly the people who are in charge of deciding what is in style have polar opposite tastes than I do. For example, I um, kind of liked silver pants straight boy's goth prom dress.

I thought Nicolas's dress looked amazing. I liked Carol Anne's, too.

Althea has some big telegenicness!

Heidi has been on fire this season, this episode in particular e.g. if the model was holding flowers and there were four more of them.

Leee, Saturday, 12 September 2009 21:00 (sixteen years ago)

Also ^_^ someone else is watching the model show, it is secretly great decent.

Oh right!

Seeing all these non-Nina, non-Kors judges made this like watching Project Runway: Canada again, minus Iman.

I am loving Nicolas. Loved his slutty avant garde design last week, really dug his dress this week.

I watched the premiere of Models and it struck me as hilariously bad. I can't imagine it's improved any.

tehresa, Sunday, 13 September 2009 17:06 (sixteen years ago)

i felt like that was what it boiled down to though. everything she made was described as "cheap". and, you know, it was! and i'm kinda glad she's gone. which makes me evil, i guess.

scott seward, Sunday, 13 September 2009 17:09 (sixteen years ago)

nah, it means you have taste.

tehresa, Sunday, 13 September 2009 17:11 (sixteen years ago)

(Heidi's boob comments were pretty lol)

Was surprised Epperson's dress got criticized for this, but they said nothing about this wrt to Althea's outfit. At one point, I thought Althea's model was going to give herself a black eye due to the total lack up of support up top.

The ever dapper nicolars (Nicole), Sunday, 13 September 2009 19:23 (sixteen years ago)

I agree. Sometimes I wonder if they just haul the male designers over the carpet for this because it's better tv, as if it's assumed a female designer does it 'on purpose'. But yeah, Althea's model was the classic 'two puppies fighting under a blanket'. Not a good look.

VegemiteGrrrl, Sunday, 13 September 2009 23:54 (sixteen years ago)

even Tim Gunn was WTF? at that dude for making up stories .

The coat was cool looking and I liked that feather dress too.

carne asada, Friday, 18 September 2009 14:29 (sixteen years ago)

Gordana's dress was great and should have been in the top 3, not the bottom 3.

Hugh Manatee (WmC), Friday, 18 September 2009 14:32 (sixteen years ago)

she took the approach of making something ulta wearable out of a not so wearable material. I'm not sure that's what the judges were looking for.

carne asada, Friday, 18 September 2009 14:39 (sixteen years ago)

I loved Christopher's dress...I felt like, okay NOW we get to see some creativity. And Irina's coat was pretty fab. I am so glad to see the back of Johnny. Ugh. I hated everything about that guy. But Nicolas is almost as annoying so he better watch it.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 18 September 2009 18:46 (sixteen years ago)

and wtf at Nicolas's "punk" outfit. I didn't see where that came into play at ALL, except for the weird trim he added on the straps.

nicolas just seems to lack any kind of attention to detail...he always wastes half the challenge freaking out about what to do and then barely scrapes by.

also LOVED althea's dress...gorgeous construction, and the way she used that pattern was awesome.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 18 September 2009 18:58 (sixteen years ago)

yea hes a huge drama queen - ive never worked in paper b4 so woe is me i think im going home tomorrow - wtf dude u think the other designers sit at home and make dresses out of newspaper?

EXACTLY.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 18 September 2009 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

it's funny, watching this show and top chef, i figure anyone who whines about never having cooked with this ingredient/never working with this fabric before is gonna go home sooner rather than later. no excuses, people!

i was kinda hoping both johnny AND nicolas were going home last night. both so annoying. that tattletale shit from nicolas really pissed me off. yes, dude was lying, but that was so petty.

scott seward, Friday, 18 September 2009 20:31 (sixteen years ago)

I'm just glad Johnny is gone. That dude was insufferably whiny.

Alex in SF, Friday, 18 September 2009 20:38 (sixteen years ago)

Everyone seemed particularly bitchy in the last episode, lots of gossiping onscreen.

Christopher's dress was great but he's already done the whole play on the volume/fitted bodice with big skirt before. Irina deserved to win this one.

musically, Saturday, 19 September 2009 01:06 (sixteen years ago)

Somehow I let my friend know I watch this and told me that when I get home I should check and see if my balls are still there.
I asked him if he thought Heidi Klum was hot and a lot of half naked models.. it didn't win him over.. still said I should check and see if my balls are still there.

My question to all the non-gay guys here is what does your guy friends think if they know you watch this, and your girl friends. Do they think you are pussy. (personally I don't care much what people think of me for watching this show, but this is the internet and I thought I would ask if any of you had similar experiences with dooshy friends or what not)

god so glad johnny's gone. really, wearing a pink polo to judging? ugh. and then sunglasses on the head? inside? in a studio? it's not like you just walked in off the street where it was sunny.

i liked althea's best. didn't think christopher's was so great... it's a dress you see all the time, just made from newspaper. it made me think of proms.

tehresa, Saturday, 19 September 2009 06:06 (sixteen years ago)

Christopher got on my nerves a bit last episode.. I wouldn't care if he went home. Originally I kinda rooted for him. I don't really have a favorite yet.

beauty of grunge = abandon (CaptainLorax), Saturday, 19 September 2009 06:10 (sixteen years ago)

my bad not Christopher, it's late and Im tired. I meant NIcolas

beauty of grunge = abandon (CaptainLorax), Saturday, 19 September 2009 06:12 (sixteen years ago)

I liked that Christopher's dress actually moved. That it wasn't so weighed down with paste/dye/paint...that it was sort of freed a little from the usual 'paper' constraints. But I kind of like that costumey quality to it, maybe I'm just easy to please, lol.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 19 September 2009 06:12 (sixteen years ago)

Words/phrases I never want to hear on this show again:
"Aesthetic"
"Old Hollywood"

Irina's ruffles were hot, but the belt and pockets were terribly craftish.

Shirin is the most huggable.

Leee, Saturday, 19 September 2009 21:02 (sixteen years ago)

Christopher is totally my favorite! Why would anyone not like him?

An adult loves to win awards (Stevie D), Saturday, 19 September 2009 23:29 (sixteen years ago)

tehresa, Sunday, 20 September 2009 02:10 (sixteen years ago)

His facial expressions and eyebrows are fucking annoying looking?

Alex in SF, Sunday, 20 September 2009 03:12 (sixteen years ago)

Tim Gunn's post-elimination genteel distress was the equivalent of an average person going Total Hulk. It was awesome.

I won't miss Johnny. Nicolas is a terrible person, but he also looks like Peppermint Patty, which amuses me. I liked Christopher's dress because the top looked like armor and the bottom was swishy. He should have thoughtfully accessorized it with a mace and gauntlets from the Macy's accessories wall.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Sunday, 20 September 2009 03:18 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah I like Christopher - or maybe I'm just pleasantly surprised that most of his designs so far actually do have some potential and are not completely Midwestern gay. Besides, Ramon and Nicholas are both way more far up their own asses and thus more annoying. kinda hate irina too (this is more of an irrational dislike though - she reminds me of someone I can't stand IRL) but I dug the coat she made as well as Carol Hannah's dress.

Roz, Sunday, 20 September 2009 04:57 (sixteen years ago)

I can't stand the way Ra'mon's name is pronounced "Roman."

Leee, Sunday, 20 September 2009 05:03 (sixteen years ago)

Mostly I don't like Christopher because of hats. And his facial expressions make him look like a modern-age silent movie star.
But design wise he's definitely growing on me, he's quite creative...and he seems to have the right level of dedication.

Nicolas is like a 12 year old girl with his OMG WTF LOL all the time. He shits all over Shirin for being childish but he's not much better.

My thing is if a designer is douchey in the interviews and general disposition, they better back it up on the runway. I can handle a d-bag/drama queen then, because then I don't care what they're like, it's all in the work. So Christopher, Ra'mon, Irina, Althea, Epperson and that Daryl Hannah chick all have my maximum respect because they seem committed to the task, no matter what, and they consistently show me something (excusing Ra'mon's bowling ball dress which was a major fail). Nicolas gets no love from me, and Shirin better show me something because I could happily lose them both. Faux-Kenley just seems straight up boring now...does she even know how make something that hits at anything other than mid-thigh?

VegemiteGrrrl, Sunday, 20 September 2009 05:06 (sixteen years ago)

joining the conversation! love this show, very glad there are full episodes online! always luv it when designers talk about "punk" looks like nicolas did in this wk's episode. i always wonder what exactly they're thinking of. i think althea's going to win this season. PREDICTION.

tylerw, Monday, 21 September 2009 00:17 (sixteen years ago)

i have been wondering if carroll hannah mgiht be a dark horse? but i am not sure.

tehresa, Monday, 21 September 2009 00:47 (sixteen years ago)

her red paper dress was pretty amazing. Especially since it looked like she had to put it on the model in one giant piece.

I'll be so glad when all the crappy designers are gone and we get to see ALL the good designs, instead of 5 of them being declared 'safe' every week.

VegemiteGrrrl, Monday, 21 September 2009 01:00 (sixteen years ago)

so long, i mean

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 25 September 2009 16:02 (sixteen years ago)

bummed. Ra'mon made me totally love him with this challenge. I hearted him so much for trying to do his Borg/Predator/Gaultier bobsled jumpsuit. But I had bad feelings when he ditched and redid the dress. I get why he went home, but it makes me sad...I really, really REALLY did not want Nicolas to win. Not that his costume wasn't a straight up costume with a capital C...but too me it was the kind of crowd-pleasing 'sci fi' that reminds people of Narnia. Damn you Ramon for not giving them the full Borg treatment. He should have Pwned that challenge.

Liked this ep for the lack of bitchyface drama...and I really liked that little bit with Carol Hannah and Logan. Cuties!!

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 25 September 2009 16:07 (sixteen years ago)

Either that awesome Victorian number or the western dress should have won that! I wasnโ€™t a huge fan of the icequeen whatever the fuck put out there, it looked mad cheap.

carne asada, Friday, 25 September 2009 16:16 (sixteen years ago)

i can't believe that those two guys made the victorian number and the western dress in a day! very impressive.

scott seward, Friday, 25 September 2009 16:41 (sixteen years ago)

Absolutely. Christopher's dress was A*MAZING...as was Epperson's denim beauty. It is a travesty that Nicolas and his chintzy icequeen won. He executed well but damn if Christopher and Epperson didn't go the extra mile with theirs.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 25 September 2009 16:45 (sixteen years ago)

i was with mr gunn on the victorian thing -- it was a very nice dress but wasn't a period costume whatsoever. it just seemed too contemporary -- i guess you could say the same for epperson's western dress but you still could still tell it was western

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 25 September 2009 16:45 (sixteen years ago)

it wasn't my favorite thing on the runway but I think the winning sc-fi fantasy dress met the challenge perfectly

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 25 September 2009 16:47 (sixteen years ago)

Tim Gunn's post-elimination genteel distress was the equivalent of an average person going Total Hulk. It was awesome.

lol

I hearted him so much for trying to do his Borg/Predator/Gaultier bobsled jumpsuit.

I dunno. I thought it looked pretty bad. he was re-creating Rebecca Romijn's costume frm Species or something. I know it was a costume-y challenge but still

dmr, Friday, 25 September 2009 16:57 (sixteen years ago)

maybe if it hadn't been his third jumpsuit (and the second one he shitcanned before it reached the runway, lol) I would give more points for originality

dmr, Friday, 25 September 2009 16:58 (sixteen years ago)

also i was kinda shocked how badly louise dropped the ball on a film noir costume -- i expected better from you, lady

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 25 September 2009 16:59 (sixteen years ago)

her idea that she's a movie star from the 40s dressing for a role where she's from the 20s was cuckoo

dmr, Friday, 25 September 2009 17:00 (sixteen years ago)

"Rebecca Romijn's costume frm Species"

Rebecca Romijn was in Species? I thought it was Natasha Henstridge (sic).

Alex in SF, Friday, 25 September 2009 17:00 (sixteen years ago)

hmm I guess I was thinking of the Nightcrawler costume from X-Men. except green.

dmr, Friday, 25 September 2009 17:01 (sixteen years ago)

I just meant I could see exactly what he was going for, based on his sketches and idea, and dying the fabric. When I saw it on the model I knew he had some problems. But the idea of it...a TNG '7 Of 9' costume? would have been so cool IF he had been able to pull it off. So I guess I'm more enraptured by the idea of waht he was trying to do, than the reality of it. Plus just knowing Ra'mon's a Trekkie makes me happy.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 25 September 2009 17:02 (sixteen years ago)

i kinda wish ra'mon had gone the total 60s b-movie route instead of getting there by accident

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 25 September 2009 17:02 (sixteen years ago)

I'm over Louise. If I see one more knee-length dress from her I'll scream. And if she can't pull of a Film Noir costume, then she's done. I thought this would have been her bag, where she'd 'show us all'...wrong.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 25 September 2009 17:03 (sixteen years ago)

7o9 was DS9, not TNG iirc *adjusts glasses*

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 25 September 2009 17:04 (sixteen years ago)

i agree with the judge who said that ra'mon's thing was "unacceptable". it REALLY was. it was a piece of crap and louise's was bad too - really bad - but at least it resembled a garment.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 25 September 2009 17:19 (sixteen years ago)

and yeah...Ra'mon's final dress was a hot green mess, for sure. I was sad to see him go but there's no way he could stay for putting that on the runway. At least Louise actually had a SEWN dress, rather than a glued/stapled art project. Sigh.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 25 September 2009 17:21 (sixteen years ago)

I love Epperson and Christopher's dresses, still not sure why Nicholas won since his dress was very generic White Witch of Narnia.

Ra'mon's outfit was awful, but I'm still sorry to see him go.

scott seward, Friday, 25 September 2009 18:04 (sixteen years ago)

do you notice how when epperson shows tim what he's working on in each episode tim just kinda backs away and says something like: you just keep doing what you're doing. you can tell that he respects his work a lot.

scott seward, Friday, 25 September 2009 18:10 (sixteen years ago)

you can just tell from the finishing, his execution, and that awesome quiet way he just goes about his business, that he is up to his neck in talent. I hope he doesn't falter, I would love to see Epperson go all the way.

He is my favorite. I think Christopher and Carol/Hanna are talented as well but they both are slightly annoying on a personal level so I can't root for them the way I do for Epperson.

The ever dapper nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 25 September 2009 18:41 (sixteen years ago)

Plus on a boring sewing level Epperson's dresses seem to have much more sophisticated finishes and embellishments, which I'm surprised he is able to pull off in the amount of time allotted.

The ever dapper nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 25 September 2009 18:42 (sixteen years ago)

OTM. His finishing skills are pretty hardcore, or seem to be. Part of it is obviously that he maximises the time he has to complete whatever he plans to sew...but I wonder too if he's been at it longer than a lot of the other 'kids', so doesn't waste half the challenge draping or whatever. Definitely the zen guru of the sewing room though, that's for sure.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 25 September 2009 20:13 (sixteen years ago)

her idea that she's a movie star from the 40s dressing for a role where she's from the 20s was cuckoo

โ€• dmr

her narrative made me laugh, i mean, really?

again i thought christopher's dress was great but the silhouettes are always the same...fitted bodice, huge skirt.

musically, Saturday, 26 September 2009 03:56 (sixteen years ago)

I was rooting for Ra'mon in part because he's from Minneapolis, I'll admit. Ditto Christopher. But yeah, Epperson is great.

if I don't see more dissent, I'm going to have to check myself in (Matos W.K.), Saturday, 26 September 2009 05:25 (sixteen years ago)

If Christopher can show some variety in his silhouettes, I reckon it might be on like Donkey Kong between Christopher and Epperson. Maybe Carol Hannah if she can start really strutting her stuff and not hiding in the middle.

hmm I guess I was thinking of the Nightcrawler costume from X-Men. except green.

Sorry for the extreme nerd pedantry, but it was Mystique. You're OTM about the reference, though.

http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/060522/15288__mystique_l.jpg

Epperson was robbed. That dress was amazing. I liked Christopher's and in this context, I was willing to forgive his anachronistic liberties. If I had seen that dress in a movie that was ostensibly about a Victorian vampire bride, however, I would have an irritating little shit fit about the halter. Also he lost points with me for essentially introducing his character pitch by saying, "I'm kind of dumb about history things, but here's what I did! Dur hur!"

Nicholas's was okay, but yet again, I'm left scratching my head about the judges' pick. I don't think it was all that creative. Ice queen? Come on. Done to death. And despite my X-men knowledge, I'm actually not a big sci-fi/fantasy geek, so it's not like I'm so genre-weary that I've seen it all before.

I hate to say it, because I really want to like Louise, but she probably should have gone home for the sheer fact that she was unable to cough up anything even remotely acceptable for a challenge that was more or less designed to showcase her ostensible strengths. And come on. This is not the first time that Ra'mon has wrapped his model in some gross green fabric and sent her down the runway. The last time he did that, he WON.

Thank god Michael Kors is back next week. I miss him so much.

If I had to pick an area in which to happily be 0 for 2, "sci-fi bodysuit references" would be pretty high on my list.

johnny crunch, Saturday, 26 September 2009 22:06 (sixteen years ago)

But we're probably the biggest nerds on this thread, either way :) (spins hat propeller)

I resemble this comment! You could've saved the TNG comparison if you were talking about Deanna Troi's bodysuits. But ditto that I learned to like him a lot more when he said he was a Trekkie.

I knew Ra'mon was in trouble the moment he said bodysuit, because when you see them in actual scifi shows, they only function as a way to show off the actress's body, not as actual fashion. And when he said his character was from another planet, I knew he was going to make something that would've looked like this.

Really, really disappointed neither he nor Dickolas went with futuristic military uniform for scifi -- that's *much* easier to pull off without looking terrible. And the ice queen faff? It's way too insubstantial to hold up as a film costume, fantasy, scifi, whatever the genre.

Carol/Hanna

lol it's like she's got two personalities: dumb, and then, ditzy.

Nicolas voice is like nails on a chalkboard. EVIL.

xpost I lol'ed at Tim there too. I kept thinking of him saying other movie titles, it's hard to stop once you get going... "Paint Your Wagon, indeed!"...
"Talk about True Grit!"....
"Oooh Ride The High Country"
"Looks like High Noon to me"

As my husband pointed out, for the Sci Fi route they could've gone the Luc Besson route and just gone with an orange wig and strategic bandages.

Wonder if Ra'mon started spelling his name with the apostrophe AFTER he became a Trekkie?

Non-trivial, I mean.

I thought Gordana's dress was worse than Louise's.

I think Louise should switch models. I don't think that girl is a good fit for her style.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 28 September 2009 07:45 (sixteen years ago)

It was a pretty strong week across the board, though.

Nicolas didn't deserve top 3, but I thought his dressed worked pretty well for having been made so quickly. It was a little cheesy, but it was high cheese.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 28 September 2009 07:49 (sixteen years ago)

i was actually really surprised when louise picked her current model over that other girl who looked way more her style (ie very similar to louise herself).

can i lust (tehresa), Monday, 28 September 2009 07:58 (sixteen years ago)

okay. WTF with that challenge, the red herring "one OR MORE OF YOU will be aufed"...I think I pretty much hated this whole episode.

Design something blue that people can wear. GO. Left them so open to that bitchy nasty outright mean judging...I felt really bad for them, even Louise. I hated Louise's dresses but just seeing the way the judges faces light up a little when they can say something snarky, I'd forgotten just how low they'll go.

I felt bad for Christopher and Epperson. The outifts were, odd...I don't get badly made. And honestly, I couldn't stand Carol Hannah's pieces. It looked like the same kind of jersey nightmares I see every day at the mall. Which is maybe what they wanted, I don't know. But the hem on that 'sweater dress' was godawful. Irina's dress was nice, but if Epperson and Christopher don't go together, I don't see how Jordana and Irina's pieces go together either. If you're gonna be bitchy about it. They obviously couldn't work as a team, and barely squeaked by with finished product.

Agh I could rant for days. This whole episode was a big hot mess.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 2 October 2009 03:56 (sixteen years ago)

I know! Goddamn you Heidi, you made Christopher cry!

I don't know if I saw a clear winner in any of the designs. And is it just me or did Althea's highwaisted pants fit awfully around the crotch? They always seem to, especially with pockets, but I recoiled when they came down the runway.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 2 October 2009 04:06 (sixteen years ago)

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 2 October 2009 04:09 (sixteen years ago)

That episode was unbelievably boring.

It looked like Forever 21 bargain rack fodder. Couldn't believe the judges loved it.

And is it just me or did Althea's highwaisted pants fit awfully around the crotch?

The fit on her clothes always seems to be a big issue, which I'm surprised the judges don't call her on. I had to laugh when she said how wearable her designs were for the office -- I wonder which offices are okay with skirts that ride all the way up to the waist. Maybe Lady Gaga's management, I don't know.

The ever dapper nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 2 October 2009 12:46 (sixteen years ago)

Lol I forgot about the skirt. Yeah. Honestly I think they should have pulled all the designers on the stage and chewed them out for putting up garbage. The challenge was ass, but not complicated. They're all coasting, and they need to get a fire lit under them.
Hope next week is a good challenge.

Alex Quebec (WmC), Friday, 2 October 2009 17:24 (sixteen years ago)

the shirt dress would have been improved by a different, not-shiny fabric -- I'll give Christopher credit for construction because shirting is pretty difficult. I didn't mind the bottom of the other dress, but the drapey top & bib was way way too much. and again, too shiny.

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 2 October 2009 17:50 (sixteen years ago)

it was definitely time for louise to go, though -- it was the second challenge in a row that she just failed to comprehend what was expected. and those dresses were really awful.

i hope nicholas is next -- ugh go away you hot behavioral mess of a person

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 2 October 2009 18:05 (sixteen years ago)

Nicholas is a jerk. He knew how horrible the ruffles were going to be, but instead of suggesting to Louise that she take a different approach he just bitched to everyone else about the awful dresses because he knew he couldn't get sent home.

Glad Christopher didn't get the ass. Him and Epperson for the most part keep the show watchable, showercurtain shirt dresses notwithstanding.

Still waiting to see what Logan's all about. Can't tell if he's hiding in safe zone or if he actually has some talent and is biding his time.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 3 October 2009 06:01 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, i have no idea what logan's design aesthetic is! hah.

<3 epperson and his zen-like attitude. when they flashed back to his week with qrystal it just reinforced how he was so exasperated but kept his shit together to attempt to salvage the designs despite her idiocy.

i'm still not really loving christopher. he just doesn't seem all that special to me. his designs could have been very inc if he'd chosen different fabrics i think. i liked irina's dress but carol hannah's stuff definitely seemed most in line with that brand.

Angela was probably the member on Project Runway i most liked to watch just for the madness of it. Anyway this challenge was even worse than other commercial ones in the "design something cheap" genre. What's the european equivalent of INC? H&M and Zara? Nothing on it was really good

VegemiteGrrrl, Sunday, 4 October 2009 05:45 (sixteen years ago)

what's-her-fleurchons

Actual LOLs

This was the first week that I actually agreed with the judges' decision, so I guess there's that. I had high hopes for Louise because we have similar tastes, but yeah, those two dresses weren't great. I would probably wear the shower loofa dress with a few modifications, though, such as removing the happy trail down the front.

I honestly liked both of Irina/Georgiana's looks but DID YOU SEE IRINA'S INC. HOLIDAY DRESS??? You want to talk about cheap, tacky jersey bullshit? Holy cats. It involved a SEQUINED BUTTERFLY. It is seriously, hideously offensive and it makes me angry at, in this order: fashion buyers, Macy's, Inc., Project Runway judges, the inventor of the Bedazzler.

Heidi was being really unnecessarily cruel. The British judge even looked a little remorseful.

I got the impression that the producers had planned to send both members of the losing team home, but since that catty little Nicholas had immunity, he got to stay. Hence Heidi's repeatedly telling him how very, very luck he was. Maybe that's why she was being so mean - she thought she'd get to send two designers home and was full of rage at being thwarted.

My biggest disappointment was that Althea wasn't in the bottom two so I could hear Michael Kors say, "Slutty, slutty, SLUTTY!"

that LIVING GOD WHO WALKS THIS PLANET EARTH IN HUCKSTER'S SHOES. (WmC), Friday, 9 October 2009 04:15 (sixteen years ago)

Agreed. I think Heidi took his misunderstanding of the challenger personally, or something. But his dress was pretty, um, yeeesh. I recoiled when she came down the runway. Logan's was a badly made hot mess...that poor girl looked like she was dressed in unfinished fabric scraps. And Christopher needs to STEP AWAY FROM THE SHINY MATERIAL. No poufs, no bubbles, no belts. Just make a damn dress. Him & Epperson both just lost their way these last 2 challenges, designing for the 'common woman' is obviously a little beyond them. Which is sad, because I thought they were capable of a lot more before this week.

So glad Jordana won. She was beaten up for that flapper dress but it was SO well made, it's about time she got some props.

Someone please tape shirin's mouth up NOW. Ugh. Her and Nicolas need to be put in a sealed capsule and shot into the sun.

I was so mad Irina was in the top three -- her dress was so mother of the bride, I couldn't believe how the judges raved over it. Maybe it looked better in person? At least she didn't win.

I am in mourning over Epperson, I had a feeling he was going to go when they kept airing clips of him saying he misunderstood the challenge. But Logan or Christopher's outfits were much worse, the trousers on Logan's model were possibly the most unflattering I've ever seen any woman wear. And I'm including the polyester ones w/the elastic waistbands that you see grandmas wear. And they weren't even finished!

Jordana winning = awesome, I've liked her from the start and have been waiting for her to shine

Irina not winning = also awesome, because I hate everything about her and her designs

Shirin eliciting my sympathy for the first time and somehow not making me loathe her for once because she's a 12-year old fool in a 23-year old's body

tehresa, Saturday, 10 October 2009 04:59 (sixteen years ago)

Althea's dress was FUG-LY, with the dark boob patches and the corsety looking detail, just nasty. Everytime her stuff comes on the runway lately, I expect her to be in the bottom 3.

Logan's pants were a crime. He is a lovely boy but he needs to atone for those pants. ATONE.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 10 October 2009 05:24 (sixteen years ago)

Ooooh and I loved Carol Hannah's dress. I want her to start moving to the front in these challenges. Next to Epperson I've felt like Carol Hannah & Jordana have the best *sewing* technique. They know how to make their dresses, and not just, um, design? Poor Epperson. GAH. I hate that he's gone now.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 10 October 2009 05:33 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i don't know why carol hannah keeps getting overlooked! and yeah, althea's was ugly. and the blue/black combo reminded me of how they were critiquing logan's goth prom dress before.

also how did shirin's dress end up in top 3? eesh. i thought irina's looked very nice and i would wear that cut (not in that fabric) but it just wasn't anything remotely original.

BOOOOOO that was some straight bullshit. I'm not always on the same page with Epperson aesthetically, but he knows what he's doing, and Logan's outfit was really horrible.

Super glad Jordana won. That was my favorite dress of them all, shortly followed by Carol Anne's, which was really great and deserved more attention than it got. I was terrified Irina's hideous, tacky brownish mess was going to win, and then I was going to have to stop watching the show.

I could have given a rip about Shirin's. I would have preferred the Cher look, tbh.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 10 October 2009 22:36 (sixteen years ago)

I got spoiled on Epperson's elimination, so clearly it did not come as a shock. But this was the second time that Logan followed his client's direction to ugly ends -- surely that's a more urgent reason for elimination in a design competition?

Now that she's won two challenges, the added arrogance and hauteur has made Irina's voice one jillion times more annoying. Right now I'd take Neekohlass and Kenley dueting to sentimental ballads than hearing Irina.

Shirin is cute like a kitty! I want to ball her up in my hands and, uhh, nuzzle her!

VegemiteGrrrl, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 23:12 (sixteen years ago)

also I hate books 'authored' by star 'with' someone else. it always makes me wonder how much they actually did. I mean, unless it's like some old basketball legend telling his story to a journalist because his hands aren't so good for writinig anymore...but young up and comers? wtf. write, or don't write.

VegemiteGrrrl, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 23:15 (sixteen years ago)

i think it's more that those people have no writing talent but 'have something to say' so it makes it easier for editors/publishers to just have someone else do the writing from the get go.

tehresa, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 23:36 (sixteen years ago)

I'll accept that argument :)

Wish there was a way you could search Christian's book and find out how many times 'fierce' and 'hot mess' appear. just for lols.

VegemiteGrrrl, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 23:40 (sixteen years ago)

do you guys read Chris Marsh's/Andrae's/Nick's blogs on Lifetime? They're not bad. Jay had a blog on elle.com for a while, but he's gone away now, which is too bad. I liked his best.

VegemiteGrrrl, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 23:43 (sixteen years ago)

YOU HEAR THAT, NICOLAS?

VegemiteGrrrl, Tuesday, 13 October 2009 23:55 (sixteen years ago)

I always wondered what happened to Andrea.

Super Smize (Leee), Wednesday, 14 October 2009 03:39 (sixteen years ago)

Man, there is something about these designers that just sucked the excitement out of this challenge. Those were some pretty average Bob Mackie/Christina Aguilera outfits, by and large.

ugh. Christopher. DUDE. no words.
jordana!!!! what the frak happened?
Logan? whoa.

The only bright side is Shirin's gone, and Carol Hanna's execution was awesome.

But. 3 more episodes and I couldn't give a crap who wins now. They don't push any envelopes, they aren't living and dying with their designs, there's no...passion? something. It's just weird.

And call me crazy but a BMack/Xtina challenge with BARELY any skin, hardly any HINT of a fringe homage...I mean COME ON. They stood in front of those designs at that bloody museum!! were they blindfolded? I'm just so dismayed. Bah.

i thought carol hannah deserved the win, tbh

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 16 October 2009 13:11 (sixteen years ago)

I couldn't believe how boring and uninspired these outfits were. This was a Bob Mackie/Aguilera challenge, it's a license to go crazy! Most of the dresses did not show enough skin for the stage, and they just weren't wild enough. Ra'mon and Epperson both probably would have knocked this one out of the park.

Nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 16 October 2009 13:12 (sixteen years ago)

totally OTM! he told them to create something for a goddess from another time or universe! this is friggin' BOB MACKIE! and that's what they came up with? such duds. they are all pretty boring. and no great talent in any of them either. three of the women on this show are decent dressmakers and that's it. but nobody has any true creativity or vision.

Haters gonna hate, but I'll miss Shirin. Really happy about CH's win though, especially after Irina suddenly decided that she hates her. I actually like Nicolas a wee bit more for acknowledging that Irina should be nicer to people.

I almost tolerated Nicolas this week. I think he could have won if he had taken that outfit a couple more levels up...at the end of the day, when your'e talking bmack/xtina, that was really JUST a dress. But his, um, 'aesthetic' really was pretty spot on. I liked his feather work a lot.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 16 October 2009 17:12 (sixteen years ago)

What happened to Christopher, anyway? I think maybe he just has/had a couple of good ideas.

Nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 16 October 2009 17:16 (sixteen years ago)

christopher needs to stop relying on the bodice + dramatic skirt formula tbh, really tired of it

that thing he made could in no way be rightly called a corset

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 16 October 2009 17:16 (sixteen years ago)

Part of it is I think the self-taught factor. Now, Jay McCarroll was self-taught but he came to the show with a solid skillset, including knit/quilting which really helped him with construction...I don't think Christopher has a deep enough well of skills to draw on for each challenge. I mean, I don't know a lot about his background, but he just seems to really be in the weeds now, and I'm not sure he's got that much to draw on..he fired his big guns early on and that's all he's got. Imho.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 16 October 2009 17:26 (sixteen years ago)

yea ep was pretty boring. i think im rooting for althea here on out

johnny crunch, Friday, 16 October 2009 17:27 (sixteen years ago)

I'm pulling for Carol Hannah, but I think this episode taught me that I'm probably not going to care.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 16 October 2009 17:29 (sixteen years ago)

also ugh, fact-check fail, Jay studied in London as well as being self-taught. so Christopher is an island, basically.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 16 October 2009 17:43 (sixteen years ago)

So would this season be as dud if it HADN'T moved to Lifetime? I keep wondering.

โ€• VegemiteGrrrl

I don't why people whine about it being on Lifetime. In fact I'm pretty sure the season was mostly if not completely filmed before they even knew which network would end up airing it. And it's still produced and edited by the same groups...

musically, Friday, 16 October 2009 21:41 (sixteen years ago)

I thought Althea's dress was the best, maybe Carol Hannah's dress looked better in person but on TV the feather detail looked cheap. Shirin's dress was awful and she deserved to go home but Logan's latest free pass bugged me more.

musically, Friday, 16 October 2009 21:45 (sixteen years ago)

Moving to Lifetime is much less of an issue than it moving to Los Angeles, imo.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Friday, 16 October 2009 21:53 (sixteen years ago)

i think this show is exactly the same as it would have been on any network.

i'm glad carol hannah got a win even if she wasn't that exciting this ep.

this challenge was tailored for nicholas, wish he'd done more! but his dress was pretty spot on for christina aguilera.

tehresa, Saturday, 17 October 2009 06:59 (sixteen years ago)

Oh, my sweet annoying kitten!!! ;_; Missing u!

Three words in sequence I never expected Tim Gunn to say: "Super sexy slut."

Someone needs to make a gif out of Gordana's unhinged googly eyed moment.

Super Smize (Leee), Sunday, 18 October 2009 00:43 (sixteen years ago)

It's probably a bad sign that I didn't get around to even watching this ep until tonight...

They should have set Irina up as the Queen Bitch early on so we'd have someone to really hate. It's so late in the game now I'm not that shocked and/or appalled by her behavior.

I was also charmed by Nicholas! He was so cute about Bob Mack and whatserface, although were they really the biggest stars to appear on Project Runway? I also enjoyed Tim getting bitchy in the work room. I miss Michael Kors. I don't really care who wins either, but I guess I'd like of like Carol Hannah and Logan to date.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Wednesday, 21 October 2009 02:05 (sixteen years ago)

she's not really bitchy, she just insults other people's designs, which i'm sure is what they all do, the only difference is that they show her saying it.

musically, Wednesday, 21 October 2009 02:20 (sixteen years ago)

scott seward, Wednesday, 21 October 2009 02:48 (sixteen years ago)

johnny crunch, Friday, 23 October 2009 11:27 (sixteen years ago)

Who puts JEANS AND A T SHIRT together as a runway look? Srsly. Logan could have gone in a million different directions with a Hollywood inspiration, and he chose the most boring and pedestrian one available. He should have gone just for being so boring and lame.

Nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 23 October 2009 13:52 (sixteen years ago)

yeah agree. michael kors was an mvp of this ep w/ the v. good line "its just clothes not fashion", and then abt nicholas picking out grey menswear fabric lol

i thought milla was great! she should come back every week.

scott seward, Friday, 23 October 2009 14:34 (sixteen years ago)

i agree! milla was the best guest judge in forever. i thought her criticism was v thoughtful & constructive

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 23 October 2009 14:39 (sixteen years ago)

I agree, Milla had insightful things to say that came naturally and didn't have that "I'm trying really hard to be SERIOUS ABOUT FASHION" vibe that most of the celebrity judges seem to have. She clearly knew her stuff and was confident about her opinion. But not mean at all.

Nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 23 October 2009 14:46 (sixteen years ago)

her enthusiasm was soooo refreshing

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 23 October 2009 14:50 (sixteen years ago)

Milla' constructive criticism was so refreshing...and it seemed to inform Heidi's comments at the end for Jordana about being more confident, and to Logan about raising the level of his designs.

I was kind of dismayed that Nicolas went over Christopher this time. Christopher's outfit was so sad and lame, really not put together at all well...at least Nicolas had some kind of contstruction. But I guess that he missed the mark of the whole challenge and am I really going to complain about NO NICOLAS FOREVER?

If Althea ever stops being the safe crowd she is going to get RIPPED when her designs have to measure up against the good designers like Irina, Carol Hannah and (sometimes) jordana. I didn't like her Saint Tropez look at all. Nothing ever looks like it FITS with her designs. Everything's always baggy and weirdly saggy or stretched in the wrong places.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 23 October 2009 15:42 (sixteen years ago)

wait so who won btw? irina? i missed it

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 23 October 2009 16:04 (sixteen years ago)

Yes, there usually is some very weird fit issues going on w/Althea. Which strikes me as odd, because you would think that someone who has worked for Zac Posen and McQueen to know how to fit a garment. xp

Nicolars (Nicole), Friday, 23 October 2009 16:06 (sixteen years ago)

tbh i liked carol hannah's dress but was a bit confused by all the raves about the print! it looked a bit middle-aged imo & could have been much better.

the thing that bothers me abt this season is how it's pretty hard to discern any clear point of view from any of the designers.

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 23 October 2009 16:16 (sixteen years ago)

then again i guess middle-aged is v much a michael kors thing lol

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 23 October 2009 16:17 (sixteen years ago)

yep Irina won

dmr, Friday, 23 October 2009 16:21 (sixteen years ago)

Carol Hannah's dress was so Ulli...I was wondering if someone would call her out, like 'so did you take your inspiration from past PR designers or what?' Or maybe that's just the kind of dress that goes with Palm Beach no matter who's designing.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 23 October 2009 16:48 (sixteen years ago)

ulli was from miami so that style of resort chic was just her style iirc

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 23 October 2009 16:50 (sixteen years ago)

Nobody who is left really knocks me out designwise, or even has a discernable pov. They're okay. I think people like Epperson or Ra'mon stood out a lot more.

i gotta say, irina was right on about how she is stepping it up/pushing herself and the rest are coasting. did you see what she put together for a hundred and fifty bucks? i was impressed. and nothing else was anywhere near as impressive. so many "what the hell were you thinking" moments. when you think of hollywood you think "sweater vest"? really???

what a great line! seriously, they have to make her a regular.

scott seward, Friday, 23 October 2009 18:08 (sixteen years ago)

Irina's ensemble did make me think that shes' the clear winner right now, at least in terms of her ambition and her creativity, and she's showing some skill with each design. But god it's a black hole without epperson.

Milla needs to be a regular, for sure. She sucked all the mean out of the other judges, I think.

i agree that irina's stuff looks the most "sellable". so, i guess she should win. she's good. but, yeah, yawn. i barely even remember last night's episode and i watched the whole thing. last ditch attempt at "drama" is a snooze too. judges didn't even care if they stole stuff from each other.

challenge was really boring too. do something like you already did...zzzzzzzzzzz

scott seward, Friday, 30 October 2009 19:20 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, not enough "make a dress out of office supplies" type challenges.

one thing about PR that bugs me, and it's not new, is how the judges always agree with each other. i can't think of any time where the judges really differed in opinion about a look. fashion is so subjective, once in a while one of the judges should go "you may all hate this look but i actually love it".

musically, Friday, 30 October 2009 20:05 (sixteen years ago)

it's happened a few times i think? the problem is that most of the judges are all mainstream industry insiders from an industry that is all about groupthink -- and i can see how guest judges could easily be swayed by it

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 30 October 2009 20:14 (sixteen years ago)

well, it happened last night, no? nina didn't like something that everyone else liked.

scott seward, Friday, 30 October 2009 20:18 (sixteen years ago)

she was positive about the outfit overall, when they were doing the reviews she was nothing but complimentary about it. and i'm talking about a totally different opinion vs. difference in opinion about one aspect of a look.

musically, Friday, 30 October 2009 20:29 (sixteen years ago)

can this season please just end. GOD.

Althea: I don't see what the judges see. I only see ill-fitting pants ALWAYS, and jersey tank tops designed for maximum nipple showing & boob bouncing.

Irina: her designs are palatable. but I'm 100% with nina on the brocade dress. Hideously tight, sausage casing tight and material that thick should NOT bunch.

Carol Hannah: her dress was cute but jesus, BRING IT. I don't think she brought it.

Christopher: END IT NOW. Please stop your nonsense. I was with you at the beginning but I'm so off that train now. You are a nightmare.

Jordana: why u braek heart?

Logan: goodbye space pants.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 31 October 2009 06:39 (sixteen years ago)

Hated Irina's stupid sweater, came close to loving the dress - better w/ different colors and yeah, less like a sausage casing - but I am a sucker for any kind of brocade.

But I pretty much agree with everything you just posted, VG. Especially about Althea. Good gravy, paper bag waist jodhpurs are NEVER OKAY. Never.

I couldn't sleep so I watched Models of the Runway afterwards, and Irina's dress would have started slipping down in the front if her model hadn't cheated w/taping it.

They are too blah for me to care about.

Otter madness (Nicole), Saturday, 31 October 2009 17:15 (sixteen years ago)

Althea: I don't see what the judges see. I only see ill-fitting pants ALWAYS, and jersey tank tops designed for maximum nipple showing & boob bouncing.

In Althea's defense, her model has the most boob to bounce.

Leee, Saturday, 31 October 2009 23:50 (sixteen years ago)

Okay seriously FUCK this season. Judging this week was lame and I kind of want to shoot Cindy Crawford in the face for not being Milla Jovovich. Last thing we need is another Heidi on the panel. Fuck.

VegemiteGrrrl, Friday, 6 November 2009 04:05 (sixteen years ago)

none of the looks this week were impressive. kinda wish christopher would be around for fashion week, i'd prefer to see his line over carol hannah's.

musically, Friday, 6 November 2009 23:59 (sixteen years ago)

naw they got the 3 right - didnt think christoper or giordana deserved 2 go based on seasonwide evaluation

johnny crunch, Saturday, 7 November 2009 01:00 (sixteen years ago)

god what was with christopher's stupid breakdown?
i want kors back.

ugh. this season is shit.

tehresa, Saturday, 7 November 2009 01:33 (sixteen years ago)

the algae represents his lyfe ! lol

johnny crunch, Saturday, 7 November 2009 01:34 (sixteen years ago)

I know they didn't have much time at the Getty Center, but I was SO bummed that they didnt' seem to go anywhere near their Egypt/Rome collections. And I guess I was a little underwhelmed by their inspirations, to be honest. With the exception of Jordana, it just didn't seem that they were particularly moved by what they saw, they just thought it would look good as a dress...I dunno. It was nowhere near as exciting as the Metropolitan Museum episode from last (?) season.

I want to set them all on fire. I'm just glad that Top Chef is still bringing the goods, or I would be a mess.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 7 November 2009 04:21 (sixteen years ago)

going on a challenge where you're supposed to draw inspiration from a museum's entire collection and you pick the rock fountain out front is an automatic suggest ban. imo. fuck that dude

and yes this season is terrible

dmr, Saturday, 7 November 2009 07:14 (sixteen years ago)

but it's so... unexpected! and unique!

barf!!!!!!!!

tehresa, Saturday, 7 November 2009 07:15 (sixteen years ago)

it's such a huge metaphor for this show that the inspiration was NOT the fountain. Or the rocks. But the ALGAE.

fail on a massive level.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 7 November 2009 07:27 (sixteen years ago)

I was really hoping that bread line woman was going to come in as an upset, but oh well. Knew Christopher was toast when he starting yapping about the algae.

Darin, Saturday, 7 November 2009 08:13 (sixteen years ago)

has there ever been MORE crying from a single contestant than Christopher?

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 7 November 2009 08:28 (sixteen years ago)

I don't know there seems to be one in every bunch... Andre from season 2 comes to mind.

Darin, Saturday, 7 November 2009 09:13 (sixteen years ago)

Oh Andrae. You know, I would happily settle for a re-run of Season 2 over this hot mess. Oy. The only reason I'm happy they're going to Bryant Park is that it'll finally be OVER.

VegemiteGrrrl, Sunday, 8 November 2009 06:15 (sixteen years ago)

Ricky from season 4 cried the most out of anybody. He cried on the runway every time, he cried in the confessionals every time, he probably cried when he used a sewing machine and at Mood.

http://images.buddytv.com/articles/Image/project-runway/pr4_bio_ricky_lizalde.jpg

Did anybody else thing Jordana's dressed looked a little... vaginal? I feel like Michael Kors would have picked up on it. Also I LOLed when Irina failed to use the Macy's accessorry wall thoughtfully.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 03:29 (sixteen years ago)

hahaha it was a little georgia o'keefey!

Also I LOLed when Irina failed to use the Macy's accessorry wall thoughtfully.
every time someone's model walks out in ugly shoes, i think this. god, i freaking love tim gunn.

tehresa, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 03:33 (sixteen years ago)

Oh damn, I forgot about Rickeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I stand corrected. Christopher is def minor league compared to Ricky. I think I must have blocked him out of my mind..

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 11 November 2009 04:02 (sixteen years ago)

I mostly just remember him as a crying, ugly hat.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Wednesday, 11 November 2009 16:05 (sixteen years ago)

gee I can't wait for the Bryant Park finale tomorr-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

VegemiteGrrrl, Thursday, 12 November 2009 00:43 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, it really hit me how boring this season was when I watched the last ep and realized I couldn't put my finger on any single designer's aesthetic. I could still describe the general design style of Laura, Santino, Daniel, Uli, Bubble Skirt Crazy Woman, The Lady Who Spit on the Fabric, Michael Knight, Korto, My Beloved Chris March, that Tattoo Neck Asshole and many, many more but when I tried to figure out, say, Carol Hannah's style, all I could think was, "She just makes dresses." And she's probably my favorite of the top three! ("Favorite" being relative.)

she is writing about love (Jenny), Thursday, 12 November 2009 13:13 (sixteen years ago)

Andre, Rami, that sardonic guy who always said, "Sweet merciful crap" and who I have actually seen in my local laundromat a couple of times who went out on the wedding challenge...

Boy do I hope next season is better.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Thursday, 12 November 2009 13:15 (sixteen years ago)

Wait, how about:

"that sardonic guy who went out on the wedding challenge and always said, 'sweet merciful crap' and who I have actually seen in my local laundromat a couple of times..."

I don't want anybody to think that my local laundromat went out on the wedding challenge.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Thursday, 12 November 2009 13:16 (sixteen years ago)

wtf shit did irina write on her shirt ~ i <3 nyc cuz madonna is back ?

also r.i.p carol hannah

johnny crunch, Friday, 13 November 2009 14:17 (sixteen years ago)

there is a word to describe irina's collection and that word is "cocaine"

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 13 November 2009 14:26 (sixteen years ago)

That made me more excited to see this episode than I thought I could possible be.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Friday, 13 November 2009 16:41 (sixteen years ago)

Clearly what this season of PR was missing was enthusiastic drug use on the part of the designers.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Friday, 13 November 2009 16:42 (sixteen years ago)

i dunno, irina's collection is all greys & blacks and she looked like she hadn't slept in a week and she kept on about how anxious she was, so

elmo leonard (elmo argonaut), Friday, 13 November 2009 17:00 (sixteen years ago)

lol @ her using copyrighted images and getting the smackdown. whadda maroon

WmC, Friday, 13 November 2009 17:05 (sixteen years ago)

"I mostly just remember him as a crying, ugly hat."

perfect, yeah. dude's hats were ridiculous. i spent so much time that season just ripping on him, his crying, and his damn hats.

so who won? i almost don't care enough to watch.

YOUR MOMS SPOT HERON WITH NO HANDS I'M SMACKIN HER (Beatrix Kiddo), Friday, 13 November 2009 17:12 (sixteen years ago)

the finale is next week

musically, Saturday, 14 November 2009 01:12 (sixteen years ago)

Carol Hannah will barf on one of her models.

WmC, Saturday, 14 November 2009 01:34 (sixteen years ago)

puking! Ah, finally things get interesting.
Dream finale:
Irina goes into a coke-fuelled freakout, cuts up her whole collection with scissors and decides to do an all-pleather collection, which she completes in a mere 3 hours. Nina declares the whole collection a debacle and Irina leaps from the stage and tackles her to the floor.
Althea accidentally sews one of her dresses to the leg of her skinny jeans, realizes she doesn't need models and attaches her whole collection to herself, and walks down the runway. Michael Kors says she looks like a couture bag lady and commends her innovation.
Carol Hannah pukes all over her collection, but Christopher's tears of sympathy wash away most of the stains. At the judging Heidi asks her what her inspiration was, and she barfs. Judges applaud and declare her the winnner. Irina chases everyone off the set and then lunges for the cameraman.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 14 November 2009 03:15 (sixteen years ago)

omg yes

johnny crunch, Saturday, 14 November 2009 03:40 (sixteen years ago)

Unfortunately that would require the show to be interesting, and that clearly is never going to happen, sadly.

if I don't see more dissent, I'm going to have to check myself in (Matos W.K.), Saturday, 14 November 2009 08:21 (sixteen years ago)

ugh irina ih8u

tehresa, Saturday, 14 November 2009 20:40 (sixteen years ago)

For a second I thought Irina was going to get the Kenley-has-no-friends-on-Tim's-visit treatment, how I wish it were so.

Leee, Saturday, 14 November 2009 22:22 (sixteen years ago)

yeah I was hoping for that too.

VegemiteGrrrl, Sunday, 15 November 2009 00:33 (sixteen years ago)

why didn't anyone tell me Chris March has a hilariously bitchy blog about PR? 100x more entertaining than the actual show.

Who's the weird British lady with the There's Something About Mary hair?

lindseykai, Friday, 20 November 2009 03:51 (sixteen years ago)

project bunway would be a show in which rabbits compete in colorful designer gowns

contenderizer, Friday, 20 November 2009 05:15 (sixteen years ago)

Other than that Brit woman's Bizarro hair, this was boring. I only wanted Althea to win because she's 12 feet tall and, hello, science fiction. But blah. Black clothes, black nail polish New York collection of Grim de Grimm wins.

I really wanted to care. But no. Best of luck to them all. They'll need it.

Hey Jude, Friday, 20 November 2009 05:34 (sixteen years ago)

knew irina was gonna win, don't have to like it.

only bright side last night was finding out that the next season stars airing in January.

YOUR MOMS SPOT HERON WITH NO HANDS I'M SMACKIN HER (Beatrix Kiddo), Friday, 20 November 2009 15:40 (sixteen years ago)

yeah it was obvs irina was going to win. even though her collection was boring, she is clearly the most talented of the bunch and the pieces were actually well-made. as opposed to althea's - i liked some of her designs but none of her clothes fit. plus her collection was all over the place! headbands =! cohesiveness.

these guys wouldn't have made the top three on previous seasons. I mean I would've voted even that bitch Kenley over any of them.

Roz, Friday, 20 November 2009 16:15 (sixteen years ago)

also lol did you guys catch Ari Fish the Samantha Ronson clone? wtf was up with her face? highlight of the episode. that and tim gunn freaking out.

Roz, Friday, 20 November 2009 16:16 (sixteen years ago)

^^^^^ totally otm on both counts

dmr, Friday, 20 November 2009 19:19 (sixteen years ago)

carol hannah was robbed. maybe not choesive but definitely the most interesting.

tehresa, Friday, 20 November 2009 23:43 (sixteen years ago)

I mean I would've voted even that bitch Kenley over any of them.

otm

windy = white, carl = black (polyphonic), Friday, 20 November 2009 23:46 (sixteen years ago)

what on earth was science fiction-y about Althea's line? besides the coat with the big hood of course.

musically, Saturday, 21 November 2009 00:56 (sixteen years ago)

that and tim gunn freaking out

that part of the finale made me think of this from upthread and I lol'd to myself

Tim Gunn's post-elimination genteel distress was the equivalent of an average person going Total Hulk. It was awesome.

dmr, Saturday, 21 November 2009 01:01 (sixteen years ago)

couldn't stop looking at a) the headbands and b) heidi "pretty in pink" klum. wtf was that?

chupacabras, Saturday, 21 November 2009 01:55 (sixteen years ago)

"quite honestly, we've seen a lot of the warrior woman..."

yeah, like two seasons ago:

slugbuggy, Saturday, 21 November 2009 02:34 (sixteen years ago)

srsly they were like 'hi you were least original but you win anyway!'

boring.

tehresa, Saturday, 21 November 2009 03:03 (sixteen years ago)

on the upside...IT'S FINALLY OVER. I think I literally breathed a sigh of relief as I hit 'delete' for the final time on my Tivo. What a fucking chore of a season.

Althea: "in the future women will wear belted jackets and bulky knitwear." Seriously. What. The. Frak.
Irina: I would have had more respect for her damn tshirts if she'd created the design from scratch. I kind of liked the helmets. Reminded me of a Roman Gladiator version of Pony Club.
Carol Hannah: it makes it sound like I actually gave a crap to say she was robbed. But I liked her collection a lot. She just needed a bit more showmanship in her accessorising or something to push it over the top.
I gag saying it, but Irina definitely had the edge as far as putting on a Fashion Show. Versus just sending models down wearing stuff you designed.

And can we talk some more about Britisher lady's crazy front bun?

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 21 November 2009 03:58 (sixteen years ago)

b) heidi "pretty in pink" klum. wtf was that?

i had ttly forgot abt this. if anyone made that at any point in any season theyd be voted off immediately

johnny crunch, Saturday, 21 November 2009 21:46 (sixteen years ago)

Ari's not going to be mistaken for Sam Ronson anymore, I tell you what.

I thought the designers weren't allowed to come out on the runway at Bryant Park because of the Lifetime/Bravo brouhaha? Post-production sneakiness?

Why was Heidi dressed in a Hillary Clinton costume?

Irina's collection was way more scifi than Althea's.

Leee, Saturday, 21 November 2009 21:48 (sixteen years ago)

Srsly tho, when was the last great season of the show? Third?

Leee, Saturday, 21 November 2009 21:49 (sixteen years ago)

I guess I can see why Irina won? It looked the most like a fashion show, I guess? But Carol Hannah's was definitely more to my taste, plus she made it while throwing up all the time, so I think she deserved to win more.

The guest judge with the stupid hair annoyed me. You are no Isabella Blow, lady (or maybe she is - I have no idea who the weirdo fashion insider icons really are these days). It makes me wonder how the contestants can keep a straight face when the judges are so absurd.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Sunday, 22 November 2009 01:07 (sixteen years ago)

How many ANTM alums were in the show? I think I saw Jasleen.

The movie dress! I would buy this in a heartbeat if I had the money, but I wouldn't even spend $20 on Irina's boring jersey dresses.
