Can't really fuck with orignal SW trilogy as epic mythmaking, but the Indy films (first three anyway) are funnier, more self-aware and have more exciting action sequences and engaging characters.

chap, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:22 (sixteen years ago)

In other words my head says Indy, but my heart might say Star Wars.

chap, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:23 (sixteen years ago)

Will this be as lopsided a poll as one might assume?

given that i can't predict which way you thought it would go, i'm guessing it won't be.

voted Indiana Jones, because Lucas left them the fck alone until recently.

and they're much better movies, actually.

Amateur Darraghmatics (darraghmac), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:23 (sixteen years ago)

i'm thinking that, as unpleasant as it is to sort through turds in a bowl like this, i reckon that the new Indy was worse than all of the new SW films.

star wars had no modern sequels FACED

i reckon that the new Indy was worse than all of the new SW films

i think it benefitted from less baggage and less weight of expectationv - at least i found i could enjoy it a bit more due to caring less, or something

the new indy was not a billion times better than anything. it was only just better than getting beaten up with a lead pipe.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:48 (sixteen years ago)

blueski makes a good point tho. maybe it is a matter of age at the time, but i was super excited when the SW prequels were announced, but i assumed the Indy film would be a disaster from the get go, so even though it was still way below my expextations i definitely fell less further.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:51 (sixteen years ago)

less further?

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:51 (sixteen years ago)

what was the single specific worst thing about it iyo?

unban dictionary (blueski), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:52 (sixteen years ago)

the whole end sequence, without doubt. it was as if they wanted to make sure that anyone who was undecided at that point walked away confident that it had been a piece of shit.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:54 (sixteen years ago)

13-yr-old me would die if he knew i was saying this, but its gotta be indy

fleetwood (max), Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:55 (sixteen years ago)

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 26 August 2009 14:56 (sixteen years ago)

Temple of Doom is my favourite! Saw it at the cinema at exactly the right age and it was probably the most exciting event of my life up to that point. I'll concede that Raiders is technically a better film.

^^^^ although TBH, Grease or the first Star Wars movie (or the third... I mean the first one released in theaters) was probably the most exciting event of my life up to that point. Also Temple has lost some of its joy for me as an adult b/c yeah, it is pretty racist and also sexist.

Indiana Jones by a wide, wide margin. Because once upon a time Spielbergo actually knew how to make a movie. (Lucas has never really fully grasped it tbh)

I'm approaching this as a team battle, a la Tekken.

Star Wars v. Raiders - Raiders, but it takes a major league whuppin'.

Raiders v. Empire - Empire takes it, but not without taking a whuppin' itself.

Empire v. Last Crusade - Last Crusade, but barely.

Last Crusade v. Jedi - Jedi, only because it was the freshest to the fight.

I regard all prequels and sequels to the original trilogies as revisionist histories.
