"He's a woman, in't he"

"I respect that decision, I just think it may have been the wrong one."

I heart screwing the patriarchy.

Graham, Sunday, 16 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

AND, JADE MUST GO!!! surely you see?

david h(owie), Sunday, 16 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no jade must stay (as evah)

if pj is the patriarchy then mary daly has won

mark s, Sunday, 16 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"She might as well jus suck him off" - PJ on Jade regarding Alex.

david h(owie), Sunday, 16 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no... as quoted to ronan, 2 seconds ago:

"it's natural that people on the outisde are jealous of us, we're pretty, blonde, with a good figure... jealousy's a misery, kate, that's what i always say... jealousy's a misery... bring on the jealousy..." Jade to Kate.

c'mon, mark

david h(owie), Sunday, 16 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Why must Jade stay? Spencer must stay!

david h(owie), Sunday, 16 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

kate must go!!

mark s, Sunday, 16 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"at least no one will pee on the toilet seat"

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i have gone largely without BB for over a week now (i am BACK on the booze though, RAH!), so would some please explain *ahem* whathefuxgoinon to me? Translation: I am too lazy to read all the stuff on C4 website, someone summarise the "excitement" of the last week or so.

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

summary = "jade must stay"

mark s, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sandy scaled the wall. Alex won the task. He got to choose 3 people to live with. He picked Jade, Adele and Sophie. PJ got pissed off at this. Jade is banned from nominating. Spencer is losing popularity (in the house). Kate must go. PJ must go. PJ is acting like nothing happened between him and Jade. Comedy toff has been put in the house.

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

why is jade banned from nominating?

mark s, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Because she couldn't stop blabbing abt who she'd nominated, so Big Bruv banned her from voting for a week.

Andrew L, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Coz she's been talking too much about who she wants to nominate.

Oh, and Spencer has one strike for being continually naughty.

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

corr, even i caught that one. she's been chatting about nominations too much, was warned a couple of times I think, and then she did it again, so banned from nominating. comedy toff sounds like a larf. why is spencer losing people's wossname in the house?

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i can't understand a word jade says!! EVAH!

mark s, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hee! so true. how many times have you yelled, "NO, that was just a noise" at Jade/tv-screen.

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Coz Spencer's "I don't care" attitude is starting to get to them. They all think he's playing a game, like duh!

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Spencer in the diary room getting told off by BB = classic stroppy teenager acting all 'don't care-y' but he should remember that 70,000 is a lot of pocket money to have taken away.

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

His "ooooohhhh" was a great reaction though.

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's so fucking tragic when they start talking about someone "playing a game". You're in the house 24/7, everyone wants to win the money, the people outside see everything and decide anyway, you all get to nominate anyone you think is playing a game or whatever else. Jesus would anyone go that mad in there? The fact that they actually talk about themselves at length in the diary room is further proof that the whole thing gets to their heads.

Finally, thank god that prick Lee is gone.

Ronan, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I was quite pissed off with Adele when she was talking to Jade about PJ and how he is being seen / presenting himself & what happened i.e. 'oh Jade he is a lawyer and it is his job to stand up in court & persuade people to see things from his side', well he's a solicitor not a barrister Adele, it's actually his job to do conveyancing & wills & divorces & stuff.

Spencer managed to convince BB of the folly of messing with smokers though i.e. the poor house now have tobacco in their basic rations. Ha ha go Spanky.

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Adele is thick as a plank but she has that tiny amount of savvy that makes her say nothing.

Ronan, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

if pj is a lawyer then the criminals have won

mark s, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe when he is kicked out PJ will manage (by some miracle) to put some kind of positive spin on the whole Jade fiasco and then go on to become a super successful divorce lawyer, getting adulterous men off the hook left right & centre (OK I know he wasn't committing adultery but still).

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

haha if pj had brought his *lawyer* into the game on the Morning After I think his star wd have fallen EVEN FASTER!!

mark s, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't hate him, he's too boring. So he messed her around, big deal. He's still nowhere near as bad as Lee in terms of sexual shenanigans.

My new hate figure is Adele, but I think my temper towards Sophie has alot of potential to rise. I reckon she'd really annoy me in real life.

Ronan, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes yes Ronan but don't you see, now we hate PJ because of his COMPLETE overreaction to having to live in the poor house for a second week, he was extremely funny in all his enraged bitchiness.

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh shit I missed that. I am out of touch with Big Brother, and it feels worse than it should.

Ronan, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hahahahaaahaahahaaha i had a downer w/e (fwend's wuv&life trub, my shoulder being cried on) but pj's ire nearly made up

mark s, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If it was not a fact that pencils/pens are banned from the BB house, I would be convinced that PJ draws on his face and head stubble.

jel --, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Highlights of PJ's ire: grasping the bars and glaring quite scarily at Alex; informing the others that Alex needn't be scared to confront him as there are bars between them but IF THERE WEREN'T..... *terrible unspoken threats hang in the air*; ranting CONSTANTLY about the unfairness of it at Spencer despite the fact that Spence really doesn't seem particularly bothered etc.etc. I have never seen anyone eat chickpeas so stroppily.

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

http://www.cheeseroom.com/b3ta/claypole.jpg

Alan T, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My favourite part was when PJ complained that ALEX was being hypocritical by picking Jade when he had previously rolled her eyes about her stupidity. But receiving a blow-job from someone you despise is OK, clearly.

Archel, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan's uncanny lookalike has made my contact lens fall out. Twice!

Emma, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex officially cracks me up. I wish we could get the actual broadcast of this over here.

Dan Perry, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Everyone on the rich side MUST GO!
Evil Adele thinks her 'reasonable' facade hides her calculating, devious mind. But BB sees all. And she wears sunglasses inside, and that's a no-no in anyone's book.
Sophie is utter rubbish. Her taste in men is puke - what did she see in that ridiculous knuckle-head Stone Cold Lee? Now she's trying to wheedle her way into the girls gang. Into the mud, scum queen.
Dame Alex and Jade are growing on me strangely. I would miss them if they go and Jade's heart-to-heart with princess Kate was ker- larrsick. 'Art o' gold that gal, 'art o' gold. Innit.
Wine Bar Posho is no substitute for Sandy.

Spanky and princess Kate are the best looking therefore they are the best. I want to protect Kate from the horrors of the world.

DavidM, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What's all this about a rich side and a poor side? Is this like the BBC and ITV thing?

Tracer Hand, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Correction:

Evil Adele thinks her 'reasonable' facade hides her calculating, devious mind. But BB sees all. And she wears sunglasses inside, and that's a no-no in anyone's book UNLESS YOU'RE SCOTT WALKER

jamesmichaelward, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Kate looks like she deserves a slap and nothing else.

Graham, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i still haven't watched any more, but this week's nominations: Alex or Spencer. oo tricky!

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't think of any reason to hate either Kate or Spencer because neither of them ever do anything and that's definitely not reason enough as long as some of the other chumps are the competition.

Ronan, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Spencer is a surly adolescent who sleeps all day and grunts instead of speaking. He must go. Alex is funny. He must stay.

Emma, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"neither of them ever do anything" = vote them out now!!

mark s, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex isn't much fun anymore. Spencer's diary room moments are great, at least he realises sitting in that chair does not blind people to pretentious self talking.

Ronan, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You could at least read the whole post mark.

Ronan, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm not fully qualified this time round (with not watching so much), but i feel safe in predicting Alex will be out this friday. which will be a shame. i am the bb prediction king and i have spoken.

Alan T, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yes, I think Alex WILL go but whether he SHOULD go is another matter. Spencer is so boring. Yawn yawn yawn. I cannot imagine him getting more interesting to watch as BB advances so he should go.

Emma, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think Jonny or Adele should win. Maybe Adele is actually much more evil when watching her in the context of the show, but going by the video clips I've seen on the BB site, she's one of the people in the house I'd try to get to know if I met them in real life. (Also, I feel sorry for her for having that frightening picture that makes her look like an alien up on the BB website.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i would prefer alex to stay. maybe we should engineer an upset. though spencer is getting the all important gay vote that swung the final vote (Craig, Brian) in both previous BBs.

Alan T, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

As far as I know Adele did not pick 'Margaret Thatcher's autobiography' as her all-time fave bk.

Andrew L, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Voting for contestants based on their politics is a bit mad isn't it? Why bother watching the programme if you're going to do that, you might as well just read the website.

Ronan, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i was only declaring my response to "not doing anything", ronan => it is rub TV unlike watching someone you hate

PJ must go because punishment is urgent and key. I wuv watching him: esp. since jel nailed his draw-yr-own-face-on-w.-felt-tip deal

mark s, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

b-b-but I want the people I hate to leave. And then I want to watch their pathetic lives grind back to a halt.

Ronan, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Duh, I forgot that it's far better to judge ppl on their sunglasses and the way they wear their trousers than on anything as trivial as politics.

Andrew L, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Some people don't really seem to GET the whole BB thing.....

Emma, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And anyway, plenty of my friends have different political views from me, doesn't make them bad people (though none are in the National Front or anything drastic.....as far as I know). Who the hell picks friends / judges people on the basis of their politics?

Emma, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's a television programme, if you're going to judge them on details like that then why not read up about their past or something and get the real dirt on them.

I'd rather judge someone on whether I like them or not Andrew, that takes alot of factors into account but hopefully who they vote for won't be the only one. Of course if I lived in Britain I might hate the tories enough to be able to dismiss people who actually didn't so easily.

Ronan, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

To be fair Emma, with the exception of Magnus who is an anarchist, I think most of your friends have very similar political views to you. (That said, since we are not allowed to talk about politics when you are around it is sometimes difficult to tell).

Alex must stay. And who knows, he might. I think the vote will be tight (though I imagine SPencer currently has the edge). I still don't understand how PJ escaped nomination.

Pete, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pete I do not want to name names on the modern interweb but offline I could name you at least 4 people whose political views differ quite drastically from mine. Not to mention my family who I still love and even like despite their differing views.

Emma, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

PJ knows voodoo.

N., Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll look forward to that offline then. Hmm (thinks). I was counting without yer fambly of course. And as pointed out, its certainly not a good reason to dislike someone any more than their musical taste.

Pete, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But I didn't like Dean from last year's BB because he slagged off Destiny's Child!

Andrew L, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Please call Magnus 'Mangus' from now on. It amuses me on SO many levels!!!!

Sarah, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Coo! PJ know voodoo? Who knew? Do he do voodoo?

Tim, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Spencer or Alex...I suppose Spencer should go...as I thought he'd be more evil by now, but he is really just a lazy git.

Did you know that Jade was on the cover of Ms.London as a punXor? (I have just been watching E4)

jel --, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

in my heart i knew

mark s, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What Graham Norton said.

Graham, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Haven't watched much of BB3 so far. Watching embittered, low-spirited people row with one another doesn't constitute entertainment for me. I did see the Alex-PJ confrontation however.

I think they've wrecked it this time around with the whole rich house/poor house divide. And the combination of contestants seems to have been chosen with the express purpose of them antagonising each other as much as possible.

I hope Alex stays. I'm think Spencer's far too cocky, although I have some sympathy with him concerning the fags. He came into the house to play a game. He didn't know he'd have to completely give up smoking, on top of having to deal with eating lentils, taking cold showers and listening to PJ's whining.

I hope that the contestants on the poor side give an ultimatum to the producers and force them to get rid of the fence. Things might improve then, though I doubt it.

bert, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

express purpose of them antagonising each other as much as possible

NO NO NO. The entertaining thing this year is that none of them are vary strongly anything, but still they manage to find stupid things to hate each other for.

Graham, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jade vs Adele: FITE!

http://www.channel4.com/bigbrother/media/news/26/26_jade_adele_fight_bottom.jpgI <3 Jade.

Graham, Tuesday, 18 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No! Jade is just doing an impression of Angel when he goes all DemonXoR!

jel --, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't see it last night. Just how offensive was Spencer? I'm hearing conflicting reports. Was it all part of his cheeky brazen cocky charm or has he revealed himself to be a cockfarmer?

N., Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There is nothing charming about sleeping all day and being rude and sulky and sullen. Spencer must go!

Emma, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no more offensive than many of us have been on ile, oh wait...

hard to judge — as we were not shown the reactions of the others nearby (viz kate) — how offended they were, if at all => is there tension there, did i miss a row or anyway a cooling off between k&s?

mark s, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

eg: he drew attention to his possible erection then said "suck my dick" in a komikal monster's voice

mark s, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

in my heart i knew

How can you reconcile this with her favourite band being the Police? Or his her being the only 21 year old in the country whose favourite band is the Police in fact vair vair cool?

N., Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

why are you talking like parker?

mark s, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know. Who is Parker? I thought I was talking like Shadrack.

N., Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

off of thunderbirds

mark s, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh right - I never watched that. Was it on ITV?

N., Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what shadrack from the fiery furnace?

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan, how many shadracks from the fiery furnace are there?

Tim, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Shadrack from Billy Liar, in case you weren't being facetious (what is the fiery furnace?)

N., Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, and which Shadrack would it be if he wasn't being facetious, mother?

Billy Fisher, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

for non-brits the fiery furnace is a reality tv show on channel five: a group of ordinary religious people are locked in a metal chamber which gradually heats up as the series proceeds

they discuss matters of theology, and aspects of their own behaviour in the lives before coming on the programme, and nominate for excommunication

mark s, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

honest i wasn't. (nice change, eh?). some old bible story with shadrack, mishack and abednego being executed by a king (poss nebuchadnezzer. sp?). this is all from v poor memory. having said i wasn't being facetious, he wouldn't have a distinctive way of speaking/posting really now would he? sorry. i didn't know about billy liar.

By way of atonement, I have the film League of Gentlemen waiting for me at home. mmm.

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

aha, i c. so were does the oral sex fit in?

stevo, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the mouth, i mean duh

mark s, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

aha, i knew i'd been getting something wrong, oral sex/aural sex, easy mistake to make.

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Spencer fave to be evicted shock!

well done ILE. there goes my prediction. WHERE THE FUCK IS EVERYONE THIS MORNING?

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Throwing themselves under trains? Drowning their sorrows? I have only voted for Spencer once, I feel I am letting the side down.

Tim's World Cup code thing was SO PUNCHABLE! I mean if you're going to cheat at least be clever & imaginative about it. And if you get caught at least have the grace to fess up! What a fule.

Emma, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm at work. Cool picture Alan.

It's 11:50 am already! I just finished my last 4 animal chocolate biscuits.

Yay! Spencer must go! Jade is definetely up for eviction next week.

jel --, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the world cup code was RUBBIDGE (should we all talk starry as tribute to her birthday). having not watched it for ages and only seen a couple of rather dull day's worth of action, i can't see that there is much to decide between alex and spencer. i liked spencer's frank explanation to jade that she had in fact been a "nobhead to everyone".

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yeah, that code stuff was very silly. Big bro is running scared though and losing control,"you broke the rules you'll get a strike if you are naughty again". The producers can't contemplate anybody else walking out.

jel --, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

they give a warning, then a strike. they've been consistent about that.

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah...but why give a strike at all? they SHOULD BE LIVING IN PH34R!!!!

jel --, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I was outraged that he didn't just get a strike straight out for being such a lying git. Everything about him repulses me. Shudder. (OK this should be on the Tim Must Go thread but feh.) Apparently bookies are no longer taking bets on Spencer's eviction and Alex is now the favourite to win.

Emma, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"tim, you broke the rules, you can now no longer be nominated and you must stay on the poor side for the rest of big brother, you can also not win the money. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! I AM BIG BROTHER, DO NOT CROSS ME!...guards take him away"

Tim: "Oh no! CHICKPEAS! OH nooooooooooo!"

jel --, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

haha the only bit of bb that dr vick has so far watched = alex in the diary room asking for a new toothbrush! "This is not TV!" she larfed. I tried to explain why Jade must stay, but it was the "knobhead" scene and I was not I ph345r convincing enuff.

We agreed however that the Tarakan Assassin Made of Bugs was possibly not the Deadly Killing Machine he was made out to be. Even I can outrun a lugworm...

mark s, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I couldn't decide whether the prolonged silences during the Alex- asking-for-toothbrush scene were BB consulting the shopping list stuff or BB laffing hysterically. That boy must do some brutal brushing if his brush is worn out after less than a month.

Emma, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

stupid buffy. mark i was watching that one at the GIM last night and when the FITES happened i sped up and ran too fast and did my hamstring in. stupid buffy. AND STUPID SPENCER AND TIM why can they not both go? i now like Alex against my will...

katie, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

spencer is lazy and smelly. why do u say stupid? i think not.

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Spencer is probably the most intelligent person in the house, but he should still go for being a smelly, lazy git.

jel --, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You don't exactly have to be Heinstein to be the smartest person in the BB house...

Andrew L, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

intelligent = funny and sweet = jade

mark s, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jade is neither funny nor sweet unless you're some kind of master of contrarianism like Mark.

Ronan, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

She is beyond sweet, and v.v.amusing. Also she used "belittled" last night => She is INTELLIGENT

Graham, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Why has everyone decided that Spencer is intelligent? Why do people (sweeping generalisation alert) always assume quiet = still waters run deep and very smart and stuff? He could just not say much cos he has no thoughts. I haven't heard any grebt insightful or intelligent comments from him. HE MUST GO.

Emma, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

He's (mildly or even relatively) intelligent. At least his Diary Room stuff leads me to believe this. Also he may be arrogant but that translates into him acting as though he doesn't care about being on TV. Bad as that may be it's far better than the raging insecurity and psychosis of the rest of them and their diary room whinges.

I have stopped watching it lately because Alex's voice is really annoying and I hate Adele too much. There's only so much swearing at the TV I can handle.

Ronan, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I just think Spencer is some secret Cambridge boffin. Totally based on him coming from Cambridge...this would be a Jadeism, but remember she has no idea where Cambridge is.

jel --, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nobody was claiming he was intelligent. i was asking why people thort he was stupid. i know why i think Jade is stupid. Did you hear her talking about "in the olden days people used to listen to a whilophone". a WHAT? a wylophone, WTF. then there's the stuff about Cleopatra "isn't that the name of someone dead... no, i was thinking of Mona Lisa". GEEE-sus.

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That thing I posted yesterday about pedalos and trikes that she said is the stupidest thing I've ever heard anyone say. Ever. Ever. By miles. Sucking PJ's dick wasn't exactly smart either.

Ronan, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, I suppose saying 'Spencer is the most intelligent one in the house' isn't quite the same as saying 'Spencer is intelligent'. But nor is it necessarily true though I haven't decided who is. They are all as dumb as each other. And I love them for it. Anyway SPENCER MUST GO.

Emma, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Granted, I haven't had the advantage of watching the show, but via web updates it seems that Adele and Jonny aren't stupid. It's very funny that the two people I thought were the smartest walked out...

Dan Perry, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Adele is , as my piano teacher once screamed at me when I was 11 "THICK AS THE WOOD".

Ronan, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

She's still smarter than Miss "My nips are ma-husive". (She was also smart enough not to get into a bust-size discussion in front of PJ.)

Dan Perry, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

not knowing things = not the same as being stupid

her refreshing indifference to the conventions of received fact = she is apparently completely immune to lizard-style social programming via edumacation and ver media

mark s, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What mark said. I think I'm in love.

Graham, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh give it up! The pedalo conversation isn't even to do with not knowing things, it's just basic stupidity. Who was it earlier that typed in caps stop this fetish for stupidity?

Not only is she "stupid", she's also got nothing to say about anything whatsoever, so if the intellectual argument is really that irritating then take the other one. Just because she's obviously stupid doesn't mean she's somehow any better than the more subtly stupid people.

Ronan, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, intelligence != knowing stuff. But Jade's ridiculous overreaction to the whole wart thing is surely a sign of some sort of advanced dimness?

RickyT, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I still think the comment she made in the first week was the worst - with her totally preposterous claim that "You can't get addicted to heroin if you don't want to." On the same premise, I'm off to practise levitation by ignoring gravity...

room101, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

She's just sensitive and adorable RickyT.

Graham, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

when the injunction USE OTHER FACTS PLEASE was broadcast, only one courageous young Essex lady was truly paying attention: her cheerful avant-garde contempt for the conformist nexus of official so-called "information" was an inspiration, a challenge, and yes, a rebuke...

mark s, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It is a true fact that Jade is thick as pigshit. Also the way she reacted so childishly to the whole row thing was irritating. All that flouncing round going 'everyone hates me I'm not speaking to any of you' and getting alternately arsey / cuddly was pathetic. Nonetheless she is quite endearing, maybe it's the sympathy vote.

Emma, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I wouldn't patronise her by calling her adorable. Imagine when she comes out and hears "oh the papers called you thick as shit, but your fans thought you were great little soldier, weren't you *tickle* weren't you, yes you were, yes you were, there's a good girl".

Ronan, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think even her mother would describe that porcine face as 'adorable'.

Emma, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

PLEASE GOD LET THE JADE EVICTION INTERVIEW BE EXACTLY WHAT RONAN DESCRIBES.

Dan Perry, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ronan, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh fuck off.

Graham, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Er......sorry if you're offended.

Ronan, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

haha troll pic = jade's and pj's pre-blowjob dream of idyllic togetherness (note i. no clothes, ii. PJ has enormous purple hair in his fantasies obv)

mark s, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

also jade has the word "special" above her, because of her needs

mark s, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Why does Alex remind me of N. so? Is it because they are both beautiful but ultimately unfulfilled?

Anyway, for this reason alone, Alex must stay.

Ally C, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But those trolls don't seem to have any sexual organs! Maybe it's like that song "let me blow your mind"!

jel --, Friday, 21 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

unfulfilled/unfulfilling feh. I suppose I like Alex now bah despite him slaying my Spencer.

N., Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I now like Jonny. Jonny never says anything but he smirks alot and when he does speak it's amusing. JONNY MUST WIN.

Adele, Jade, Sophie, in that order must go. I reckon if Tim stays one of the people will start a fight with him about something that isn't his fault and he'll end up apologising.

Alex talked about "clubbing" this morning and it cut out alot of it but I heard about 3 sentences where he was trying to sound smart "it's a bit too eh......techno for me" and Adele was nodding and I want them both skewered.

Obviously this is a petty thing to hate Alex for but then call me Mr Petty.

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

does ANYONE like Tim? can we just call him "that ginger cunt"?

Alan T, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No thanks, we will continue to call you Mr Pissman. I was overwhelmed with a drunken guilt trip on Friday as Spencer left after text voting for him twice but having seen his interviews since then I know I did the right thing as he is as grumpy as ever. Why he even went in for it in the first place is beyond me.

Emma, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn you Alan. Mr Pissman = Ronan not Tim in case that wasn't clear.

Emma, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

sophie will be nominated this week. who else would have to be nominated for her not to be evicted by friday?

Alan T, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jesus I really asked for that one.

Yeah Sophie is like she has narcolepsy this week. It's terrible when the sun is shining, today they were all sweating around the garden in their swimsuits. Ugh.

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sandy is currently the most popular housemate on the ch4 site.

Alan T, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Whatever happened to the miserable old sod? When will he release a single / start hosting the Saturday Show / become pregnant by another ex housemate?

Emma, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tim vs Sophie?

Graham, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Though Alex will be nominated for having the gall to win again, thoughb the paupers may nominate Johnny for picking them. hmmm

Graham, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sophie can't really nominate Jonny for picking her to be on the poor side, she was the only one to be on the rich side 2 weeks running and Jonny was just being fair. And Kate can't either as Alex is as much to blame in a way as he picked Jade over her (though I can see why as he hates Kate & she hates him). And Tim, well.... feh.

Emma, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jade's imitation of sophie wz hilarious

ALEX: must stay, i liked his Carlylean torment at "having to choose again"
JADE: must stay, no argt nec.
JOHNNY: must stay, i like his endless staring mildly into the distance while smoking

ADELE: must go (see ronang's reasoning)
KATE: must go (robot but not in a good way)
SOPHIE: must go ("okay mate!")
TIM: must go, as by no means as laughably reactionary and horrible as we were led to believe
PJ: must go, he is worse in grateful triumph than he was in twisted defeat

mark s, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

YES!

Johnny's staring is classic. Also he has this permanent smirk as if he knows something noone else does. Chocolate stealing incident was good too.

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex and PJ must go.

N., Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh my god........that is the most filthy conversation. And I can just imagine them all salivating like dogs. Jesus Christ.

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

you have more ground to claw back than THAT, ronan

mark s, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No, PJ must go, Alex must STAY.

Ally C, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ally C is OTM obv

mark s, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am not clawing back any ground, that's disgusting. I am glad my Adele campaign influenced you mark. INFLUENCED you.

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Crikey. After looking at the profiles for each of the 14 people who've been in the house, I discover that 8 of them are younger than me. This seems strange, for some reason.

Now I realise why they're all so annoying, they're a bunch of bloody kids!

Ally C, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the ronan Disgust Piechart™ must be a v.weird obj

mark s, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've decided Jade must go again. I'm bored with her now. But she doesn't have to go for a good long while, there's worse than her around.

Tom, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

A group of people talking about two of the peoples penises while they are both sitting there is one thing. When two of these people are Jade and Adele and I imagine their facial expressions (and jade screaming "alex has a big ding dong"), I am disgusted on new and strange levels.

Also the terminology of that report didn't do the matter any favours. Am I the only one who got a sickening mental image on the line "alex wears pants because boxers can't support the weight of his member".

I mean for gods sake! It would be like if the Sandy story said "such was the amount of hot urine in Sandy's bladder that he couldn't hold himself back any longer. with a large groan he gave the bin what for, chuckling away to himself".

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Of course this is all digging my grave even further but hung for a sheep might as well fuck it etc etc etc.

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

mark s, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ronan, it's all coming together at once with you.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

When Johnny went into the Diary Room w/ the blanket wrapped around him he looked like Norman Bates/Anthony Perkins in the final scene of 'Psycho' - "I wouldn't harm a fly, me"

I don't understand what is upsetting Ronan so...

Andrew L, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think it's the hypermediated and hypersexualised environment thing. And the fact that he sees so much of himself in PJ.

N., Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not upset.

Andrew that Psycho/Johnny thing is so on the money.

Inner PJ says "Leave me alone (oi oi you nutters)"

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

[incidentally - do we agree with Michel Houellebecq's aside in 'Atomised' that this whole obsession with penis size can be blamed on gay culture's spead into the mainstream? Was it something most people used to even think about before the 70s?]

N., Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

{or is it just a feature of women's sexual liberation?}

N., Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Does any man actually know enough about the average penis size to know whether he's got a big penis or not?

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Average penis length when erect = a little under 6 inches. Standard deviation quite low. Varies a lot when not erect though. No idea about the width (the 'important' bit blah blah). I don't know where I picked up this information.

N., Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope it wasn't the toilet at King Of Corsica.

Dan Perry, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

sex tips for girls?

jel --, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually what I meant to say was does any man actually care enough about the average penis size to come to the conclusion he has a big or a small penis.

I mean 99 percent of the time it's the equivalent of a farmer complaining that his fishing trawler doesn't work anymore.

Ronan, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

HEIN? HEIN? HEIN?

Graham, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Obv. Adele must go, I've been saying this for weeks. If I said it to her she'd say "yeah, sure, yeah, great, that's right, yeah..." *nodding*.

But, Tim must go as well because as he's been watching outside, he knows the public's love of Alex - thus he's tried to attach himself to Alex by way of, basically, arselicking ("I think you're awesome"). Even after he ended up on the poor side, which of course he knows wasn't Alex's fault but must have irked him a bit, he still puckered up. This is the same as Adele, surely you see? They're both appeasers, of sorts. Ergo, they must go.

While I'm here, and you're here mark (I was going to e-mail you but... sorry) - anyway, on reading concrete, so as to... I was wondering something & don't ask me to back it up here, cos I can't think why right now but I was asking the question (internally): "how can you reconcile 'concrete' with having a style [as you do on ilm] and having catchphrases ["do you see?"]?" As I said, can't think exactly why right now...

david h(owie), Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

When did Tim's outside-world access get cut off though? Remember Alex was hugely unpopular for a week or two, and if that was his game why not cosy up to Spencer, who was #1 in the popularity polls until about a day before he got evicted?

Tom, Monday, 24 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Also disliking contestants on a game show for trying to win it seems a bit mean!

Mind you Tim must still go.

Shut up Tom and stop being so logical. They're all trying to win. They're all using their own sleights of hand etc. They are all, as Ronan detests, playing the game. It's just the way that he is playing it that I abhor. You knew that, ya big Buckmeister Fullerine.

Fuck off, mark s!

haha

This is obviously the best joke I have ever made and I am at a loss to explain its beautifocal internal logic. (see david h is mark s mini-me up-page, it would have been true, if it weren't for...) [Is this post too close to my bones?]

Emma, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Re: Houellebecq's aside/Penis size - I'm also guessing that 'Deep Throat' and other hardcore porn flicks in the early 70s finally 'allowed' straight men to look at other dicks (and/or worry abt the size of their penis in comparison to those of the horse-hung 'woodmen'.) I think it's Linda Williams, in her bk 'Hardcore', who points out that the erect male member generally gets more 'coverage' than any other sexual organ in hetfuck porno.

And if Alex really is a 12 and a half incher, he's giving John Holmes a run for his money...

Andrew L, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

adele = sting

Is this why Jade gets on with her so well? [don't know if she still does - haven't seen it in over a week]

N., Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jade is pissing me off again now. Sophie has always been a flake. Tim is a ginger cunt. Jonny and PJ must go. Adele casts no shadow. Kate hasn't a chance. ah, fuck it all.

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I'm too loving. Johnny is a twat with a moustache.

Graham, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am starting to see where the whole Adele=antichrist thing is coming from - I didn't used to be that bothered by her but lately she has been appalling. I can't believe Jade gets in trouble for talking about nominations when Adele's doing it too and egging her on - just cos Adele doesn't actually name names, it's still blatantly obvious who she's on about. Bah.

Emma, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha, just realised that my fotopost up-page of Adele is actually a Physical & Mental/Character likeness.

glasto types will miss nothing on friday when Johnny v Sophie leads to Sophie's eviction. surely?

Alan T, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

JOHNNY MUST GO. Just cos the housemates hate Sophie for no discernable reason.

There will be much wrist slashing and loss of faith in humanity on my part if that moustached TWUNT isn't HATED by millions. Sandy saw it.

Graham, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sophie will go. I certainly find her less offensive than some - and as that wise sage Bubble said this morning saying "mate" is hardly as high up the whackometer as "Chipstick", but people are ganging up on her and Sophie is a gurl....

Pete, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If you don't mind Sophie you should still vote her out for her own safety. I think the other housemates might turn on her and tear her limb from limb any minute.

Emma, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think Sophie's going to stick her fist down Jade's throat. Jade is going to get beaten severely and it will be FUNNY.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And the hataz don't want to see that?

Graham, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i don't care about either of them. i've felt sorry for sophie being picked on, but i don't actually like her myself. JADE MUST GO.

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah I think I'd kind of like rid of Jade now, she's stupid and all but that's not irritating. It was her singing those songs last night ob BBLB in that voice that really made me want to break the TV. Anyway as soon as the public get a chance Jade will be gone.

Johnny Vs Sophie is an interesting battle but I reckon Johnny should be safe.

Ronan, Tuesday, 25 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What do you think of Alex sans-beard? I thought he looked cute when he got up but ruined it when he producted up his hair.

Maybe this is what prompted our very own Tom to remove his facial hair?
