the tall guy is wearing a pretty basic overcoat, though it fits him perfectly. peacoats are generally double-breasted, with oversized lapel and collar, and usually only fall to the thigh.

Wasn't me, but I do want a peacoat. Not that I could wear it outside for another three months now. Minnesota weather =/= outdoor fashion friendly.

1) I HAVE TOTALLY TRIED TO LOCK EYES WITH DR3W'S BRO BEFORE.

2) so the other night, 3than calls, and we go to see this awesome noise punk band called 'No Babies' (great name ja). we were drinking tequila gimlets and being super silly. so i'm driving the four blocks to his house, and he tells me to pull over because he thinks he might puke. THE COPS pull up behind us, and this skinny, blond babe with a distinctly gay voice comes to the window, checks our IDs, asks if we've been drinking, etc. i'm like flipping my shit here, because if i get a second DUI then i'm fucked, but somehow, 3than convinces the guy (who keeps winking at me) that we'll just walk to his dad's house, which is around the corner. hot cop agrees, then asks me if i want him to move my car to a legal parking spot for me, which he does. the incident ends with him saying 'have a good night boys!' while the four other cops just stand looking at 3than and i with disappointed, hungry wolf gazes.

and then we went to 3than's, had some fun, and spooned all night.

total win. like, i still am trying to get over how fucking miraculous that shit was.

it's what time I start work. Mon-Fri (mostly), weekends off. kinda worth it.

anyway, I had a fucking blast yesterday. my friends and I managed to convince the DJ at our first (serious) club-stop to replay Chelley's "Took the Night," which he had already played. second stop was at "Disco Obsession" night, which was incredible. I scored a drink ticket for answering some disco trivia. the DJ did not have "Tell You (Today)" :-(

Here's what just happened, homos.

So there is this group in portland called the Oregon Bus Project. They register people to vote on the trains in Portland. I registered with one of their people about a few weeks ago and when I commented on her "Drinking Liberally" pin, she gave me a bright orange Oregon Bus Project pin that has been on my man-bag ever since.

So I was on the train just now and this remarkably cute, very obviously gay guy gets on and asks me if I'm registered to vote. I said one of his people got me already and then I showed him the pin on my bag. In the course of this, I had closed my book, which happened to be this:

Oh jeez! My xmas dinner was uneventful. 6 adults, 3 dogs, 2 small children under 5, and me. I don't understand how people make it through these things without beer. Also, I'm trying to make a cranberry-orange vodka infusion and I've chopped the orange peels, put them in the bottles, added the vodka, and prepared the cranberry mixture, and there's so little room left in the jars for the cranberries. I have no idea what I'm going to do!

Well here's the dilemma. I had 1.75L of Svedka, and an extra empty 750ml bottle to work with in addition to it. Into both of these bottles, I need to cram all that vodka, the peel of 4 oranges, 2 pounds of cranberries, and 2 cups of sugar. So not happening.

Oh I meant "bottles" when I said jars, oops! The recipe said "Use jars!" but I had 0.

I was letting it steep for a week, which is what the recipe calls for. The recipe is doubled; I made a normal-sized batch two years ago and it was perrrrfect. I don't even have all the vodka in the bottles; I have about a cup-ful sitting in a glass on the countertop. I give up.

Food! We haven't had a good food discussion in a while. I'm downtown at the moment in my mom's empty apartment while she and the rest of the family are in the slightly-outside-of-Ottawa bungalo type thing. So I haven't been eating amazingly, but the next two days are the big mom+bf/sisters+bf's/alex+lack-thereof sitting around a table and eating delectable dinner. i will report back if there is any stuffed pasta.
