TMZ says so:

Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ.

She was 32.

A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.

We're told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word."

According to reports, Brittany Murphy was fired from an upcoming film that was shooting in Puerto Rico for being difficult on set and a detriment to production.

We're not sure which film, but Murphy's IMDB profile indicates that this film may have been The Caller, which also stars True Blood cast member Stephen Moyer.

It took about 15 seconds for Brittany to be replaced, too. Twilight and New Moon star Rachelle Lefevre reportedly hopped on a plane as soon as Murphy was out.

A source also says that Brittany was so pissed about getting booted from the film that she didn't want to leave Puerto Rico and had "plans to sabotage the film."

That would qualify her as a Grade A nut job.

The really interesting part of Brittany's movie set ouster was that the weird British con-artist she married in 2007, Simon Monjack, got into a fight with some locals.

Could there be a connection between the whole Puerto Rico incident and Monjack arriving at LAX airport "incoherent" and having to be hospitalized Saturday?

Murphy thought that Simon Monjack was having an asthma attack, but medical personnel boarding the plane evidently felt it might be even more serious.

Con-jack was released from the hospital last night and even picked up some burgers before heading home, but it makes you wonder ... burgers? Really Simon?!

Wow. On Friday I saw a copy of Just Married in the cutout bin at the supermarket and started wondering why I hadn't seen her name around in a while. I had this weird fantasy where she had made her money and walked away from Hollywood, like she was living off of her investments and stuff in some moderately priced subdivision. UPDATE 3:11 PM ET -- Sources tell TMZ Brittany Murphy's mom discovered her unconscious in the shower. We're told when paramedics arrived, they quickly determined Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and immediately administered CPR. They continued CPR in route to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center -- several miles away -- and Murphy was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

We're told the LA County Coroner's is picking up Murphy's body from Cedars later today and will launch a death investigation.

UPDATE 4:00 PM ET -- We're also told the LAPD has launched a death investigation.

Brittany Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, told hospital staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center he did not want an autopsy performed on his deceased wife, multiple sources tell TMZ.

TMZ has also learned Britney Murphy's mother, who found Murphy unconscious in the shower and called 911, told paramedics her daughter had a history of diabetes. We have not been able to confirm if Murphy did indeed have diabetes, and if so, whether it contributed to her death.

I know I've seen Girl, Interrupted, but I'll be damned if I can remember anything about it.

It will probably be a huge deal when Lindsey Lohan dies at some point in the next few years, but I'll be more sad about Brittany Murphy.

I always thought Brittany Murphy was the best combo of sweet/earnest + insouciant/trashy. I don't want 'trashy' to sound like an insult.

my husband interviewed her once (i think it was during press for uptown girls?) and when he came home i could tell he was totally smitten. who wouldn't be? sometimes when people are that charming, i wonder what they're like at home. usually that's a front -- no one can be that charming and cute and saucy all the time. i was always sad that she appeared to have stopped eating.

As for her "bad" accents, her Luanne voice was a totally kickass (intentional) fusion of Juliette Lewis and can't-remember-who-else

Brittany Murphy's friends have come forward to talk about the "creepy" relationship building between Murphy's widowed husband Simon Monjack and her mother Sharon.

The duo is living together while writing a tell-all book on Brittany Murphy's life. There is heavy speculation that more is going on in the house than just book writing. Monjack has disparaged any such claims. The two are also having a hard time shopping their book, as many publishers have passed on the offer.

"Sadly, unless that book reveals some pretty salacious stuff -- which I doubt they have, except for eating-disorder and prescription-drug stuff -- it's not enough to sell many books,'' one of Brittany's longtime professional associates says.
