There's not been a lot of speculation for a BB series that's starting in only a few days (Sunday 3rd). Apart from: Russell Brand turned it down, Kym Marsh turned it down, Vinnie Jones wanted a stupid amount of money, and Boy George can't do it by order of a judge. The producers couldn't even get Steve Strange last year. Right now this year's CBB looks like it'll be very very boring - a house full of people no-one knows or cares about.

was said to be hopeful of securing a £250,000 ($451,000) fee for participating in the new series of the Channel 4 reality show.

^^^ there's the real problem - celebs demanding to be paid huge amounts of money to appear in a dying-on-it's-arse series that no-one's ever been paid more than £100K to be on anyway.
Incidentally this all kicks off at 9PM on C4 tonight. And very possibly falls flat on it's face about half an hour afterwards.

so why's there apparently so little interest among yous lot? You're usually my means for having a vague idea of what's going on when I watch one episode in fifteen.

1) The tasks are tedious - yesterday it was an "old people's home" task with Battricar racing, liquidised food, and a crossword puzzle.

2) The housmates aren't putting a lot of effort into the tasks. It's about the level of a rainy lunch break at school where everyone has to stay indoors.

3) The "hell is other people" theme seems to have been ignored. I thought it would be like "evil Big Brother" from whatever summer series it was, but it's just a bit of red wallpaper really.

4) No-one is really letting their guard down. Heidi especially, who is sleeping most of the time.

5) Everyone is pretty much acting the way we thought they would, in other words, no surprises like "oh Vern is crepey" like last year. So Dane, Sisqo, and Vinnie are the "normal guys". Nicola T "isn't as dumb as everyone thinks", er yeah we guessed that already. Ivana knows jack about cooking. Steph is snobby. Steve is arrogant.

6) The arguments are boring student house level stuff - for the "old people's home" task all the food had to be prepared by Steph and Ivana, and the latter made some liquidised cheese but put loads of water with it, and Vinnie complained about that a little bit, yaddayaddayadda.

7) OK so it's CBB, but this year some of the celebs are really Z list: Alex and Katia especially are famous simply because they are/were going out with someone else who is famous.

8) No-one seems to be pleased to be there, or even particularly happy, like Terry Christian. Everyone is mooching about the place CHEER UP YOU BUGGERS THIS IS A PAYCHEQUE!

9) It's pretty clear that Sov and Vinnie are favourites to win, even before there have been any evictions, which leads onto...

10) ...evictions 1 and 2: will be Katia and Heidi, with Sov pretty much guaranteed to be safe.

The only funny thing about the Kat/Basshunter routine was her claiming she only went with him was because "it's so sexually frustrating in here" after 2 FUCKING DAYS.

Sov was talking about how she never goes to the gym or exercises and Ivana was saying that at her age it was essential. Then Ivana said something about how Sov should take care of herself and how exercise would sort her posture or whatever and help her find a fit man (either that or she should find a fit man to help her exercise, something like that). As Ivana turned away Sov muttered "or woman..."

The other thing I like was Vinnie's mastermind thing last night, where he deliberately picked the shit prizes for the questions he got right.

I'm surprised the sparklit thing isn't closer, I think Sov's been shown in a bad light the last few days (I know blaming the editing is something of a cliché and I know she did everything shown) and they've managed to get Heidi sitting in places other than bed and actually engaging people in conversation.

If Kat were an unknown member of the public on BB, Davina's interview wouldn't been seen as particularly harsh. Kat is famous by the slimmest of margins, but I don't begrudge her using her fleeting fame as a way to earn some quick cash. And as a Rolling Stone's (ex?) girlfriend, she could have gone about that in far more unpleasant ways. CBB is a lot classier than some mangy tabloid exposé. However, as much as I dislike Heidi, she was OTM about Kat missing an opportunity when she said "she came in here as someone's girlfriend, and she left as someone else's girlfriend". Kat could have left the house as something a bit more than "Ronnie Wood's ex".

In the summer series, no-one walked in 2000, 2001, 2001, and 2004.

In CBB, no-one walked in 2001 or 2002 - there were only 6 housemates anyway.
There was no CBB at all in 2003 or 2004.
Germaine Greer was the first ever celeb to walk, in 2005.
No-one walked in 2006.
In 2007 Leo Sayer, Ken Russell, and Donny Tourette all walked.
2008, no CBB again.
Last year Mutya was the only one to walk.

I felt that Vinnie was the most likely to walk, but he probably senses that he can win this now, so he'll stay. If Ivana is evicted then Steph might walk as she'll have no-one to talk about people with.

There's an outside possibility that Dane or Jonas might walk if things get boring or if there are a lot of stupid fights about food, etc.. No way would Alex walk - if you tried to drag him out of the house he'd hang onto the carpet with his teeth.

Agreed on Dane. Apart from him feeling he has to stay on Vinnie's good side I think he's mostly been a straight and fun player. I loved his responses to people annoying him about food rations "Yes, you can eat everything, but then you'd be a prick. That's up to you."

Jonas is a bit meh mostly. I'd rather Rocky won it just to piss Vinnie off.

At the start of this I thought I'd enjoy Vinnie winding people up but it only took a couple of days for the underlying cruelty to show through.

A live on air Davina shart would have been the high point of this series.

gotta say, this has turned out to be the most enjoyable big brother yet. ignoring vinny's nastiness - which isn't hard, he's a dick but he's not *evil* - this final set of people has been a pleasure to watch. it's like they've all settled into their roles happily, all getting on well and having fun with it - like when they were all lolling at alex's fake tanning. other awesome bits have been pretty much everything the tree of temptation has ever said (stupid jonas for revealing the existence of it from the very start!), the occasional mtv-style-edited clips of the housemates all dancing and larking about to various songs, and just the general lack of aggro has made it much better tv than the past few series.

hate to say it, and i certainly didn't think so at the time, but maybe it was the right thing for sisqo and sov to go when they did, otherwise there would have been such tension in there, rather than the easy-going chuckles of late. would have much preferred it if vinny had left instead of ivana/nicola the other night though, the only hope now is that he doesn't win. i can't fathom why people would be voting for him to win - i get the feeling that if the last eviction was a 'vote for the housemate you want kicked out' he would have had a stronger chance of leaving. anyway, small gripe, overall this has been a glorious final series of CBB, i can't imagine the summertime series will be anywhere near as good.

my vote for winner now, probably alex as he's just a dopey lovable prat - though he does himself no favours when he lets his ego loose - and it'd bother vinny, but dane is decent enough too (the mission where he and jonas spent the night playing computer games and drinking beer was just wonderful) and i'd be happy if stephanie won. jonas is a nice guy, not winner-worthy though.

I know the bookie isn't always right but I can't see Vinnie winning it. The other housemates think he's favourite because of alpha male plus pre-show stories about them giving him $1m to enter but I heard a load of GET VINNIE OUT chanting during Ivana's exit.

(Dear Jim, please Fix It for me to determine the results of CBB 2010.) I would like to see them to be evicted in this order:

5th - Vinnie. He's a nasty bully. Particularly when Davina was in the house. It's a woman in a chicken costume, man, no need to get aggressive about it.
4th - Alex. OK so he's stopped going on about fame. But he still keeps falling in as Vinnie's lieutenant. Reminds me very much of Mario from BB9.
3rd - Jonas. I don't know if his thing with Katia counts as cheating on his girlfriend, but he's still a bit of a sleazeball. The guy is in his mid twenties, so it's probably asking a bit much, but I think that he could have stood up to Vinnie a bit more. Otherwise a dull housemate and an also-ran.
2nd - Steph. Her snobbiness grates - she'd be my pick for winner otherwise - but she's put a brake on this final week becoming a swaggering hard-man contest.
1st - Dane. Agree that he's a decent character. His tasks have consistently been the funniest, and it's clear that he's really being himself, where the others still have some sort of guard up.

vinnie as horrible as the most horrible bb people ever. he went in there to prove people's preconceptions wrong and it seems like he thinks he has and thinks or says he's the perfect gentleman and just looking after people and all that bullshit rather than the reality of being rude and bitchy and sniping and hypocritical and overbearing and aggressive and boastful and oblivious and even a but of a fucking diva. the problem is though that he will never know about any of that. one can only hope his "acting" career fizzles out ASAP (not as a result of cbb or something but just because he's shit) and he continues to blow $1500 a day on household stuff before he even gets up and $400 on a pair of socks and goes bankrupt and eats a dick

This series has also had some of the most disturbing bits of TV I've seen in a long time. the kind of thing that taken out of context would've just been totally WTF. I mean, the furry animals getting all paranoid and potentially rapey with each other last night was simultaneously lolsome and REALLY freaky. And who in hell came up with that "here are a lot of real actual cow body parts and internal organs, now try to make them back into a cow" task? Proper stuff of nightmares.

One of my friends who's been running hilarious summaries on FB said the furries task was 'Teletubbies remake Straw Dogs'.

I really wish they'd given Davina more than a couple of disguised hours too. When she finally took her head off it was really strange to see how uncomfortable she was interacting with the rest of the house, it wasn't until she got back into the diary room that she turned back into herself. Almost like she's only capable of talking into cameras, and falls apart when it comes to normal human interaction. Seeing a week of that would've been GREAT.
