Public warning, Sov's in town. Is she the only one confirmed?
― Ned Trifle II, Wednesday, 30 December 2009 14:50 (fifteen years ago)
IIRC Henry Holland was signed up too. Not that that matters, really.

There's not been a lot of speculation for a BB series that's starting in only a few days (Sunday 3rd). Apart from: Russell Brand turned it down, Kym Marsh turned it down, Vinnie Jones wanted a stupid amount of money, and Boy George can't do it by order of a judge. The producers couldn't even get Steve Strange last year. Right now this year's CBB looks like it'll be very very boring - a house full of people no-one knows or cares about.
― 12 inches of (snoball), Wednesday, 30 December 2009 15:24 (fifteen years ago)
Kerry Katona still too barmy not well enough for Celebrity Big Brother.
― Ned Trifle II, Wednesday, 30 December 2009 20:43 (fifteen years ago)
was said to be hopeful of securing a £250,000 ($451,000) fee for participating in the new series of the Channel 4 reality show.
^^^ there's the real problem - celebs demanding to be paid huge amounts of money to appear in a dying-on-it's-arse series that no-one's ever been paid more than £100K to be on anyway.Incidentally this all kicks off at 9PM on C4 tonight. And very possibly falls flat on it's face about half an hour afterwards.Added to the list of rumoured housemates:Paul Gascoine (may be nixed for psyche-eval reasons like Katona),Basshunter (he has Tourette's, like that guy who won BB, dumped his band, dumped Nikki, then dissappeared off the radar after a week),Dane Bowers (oh he used to go out with Katie Price!)Alex Reid (who? oh he used to go out with Katie Price!)

(xpost) I have a feeling that was a deliberate publicity stunt cooked up between the two of them. Basically the only thing that would prevent this being from being a yawn-fest would be the presence of Jedward - they are such completely clueless tools, as evidenced by their appearance on Graham Norton's show a few days ago.

So, they have to do individual tasks.
They get 5 out of 8 (I think)
They give it to them anyway.

I'm enjoying this immensely this year. I've decided that it's my duty to watch the last ever and I've enjoying the way everyone's (ok, Steve's) rubbing everyone up the wrong way but no-one's yet come flat out with "SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT JESUS YOU SMILING CREEPY FUCK!" My money's on Sov or Heidi to be first to lose patience with him.
Was Basshunter's "I ONCE WANKED TWENTY FIVE TIMES IN A DAY!" a Tourette's thing or was he just sick of everyone talking about Heidi's jailtime?
Vinnie seems nicer than I thought he'd be, so far.
Alex really needs to stop moaning about "manipulative press" every fucking five minutes when he's only on the show to get more fucking press for him and his idiot partner.
rofl @ Steve's pep talk with Alex - "get this (huge broken nose) and this (cauliflower ear) fixed and learn to speak properly and act and I can see you as the next James Bond!"
Young 'uns and old 'uns divide developing already. Sisqo caught between the two.

Who'd've thought Stephen would turn out to be the creepiest Baldwin?
Also Endemol needs to confiscate that Bible quick sharp the combo of that + Stephanie Beecham's steez is grating as fuck.
Also Nicola T come on this is a joke right?
― Shart Habit to Break (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 7 January 2010 13:00 (fifteen years ago)
Basshunter's mass masturbation isn't a Tourette's thing. It does explain why his music is a load of old wank. Once Heidi's botox has worn off Steve will get the message to STFU when he realises that she's smiling at everyone else except him. Sov is way too polite and is probably imagining the potential NOTW "Sov is a mouthy Chav" headlines if she were to lose her patience. I'd put money on it being Stephanie who tells him first.

"If we came from monkeys then why are there still monkeys, huh? Answer me that Mr Scientist!" was enough for her to bug out due to the debate getting too complicated. Sad (but not really surprising) that no-one shot him down in flames over that well thought out argument against evolution.
My wife cracked up at me doing creepy Baldwin smile at her for 10 seconds. Fuck knows how his missus put up with it for 20 years. Dude likes his share of everyone's personal space as well. I couldn't last a week in a house with that.
Basshunter ftw.
Has Westwood been confirmed yet or was he on the wind-up?
― () |\| | |\/| () (onimo), Friday, 8 January 2010 13:04 (fifteen years ago)
It's either him or Ivana Trump, apparently.
― Mark G, Friday, 8 January 2010 13:31 (fifteen years ago)
Hmm, I can maybe find out - friend of mine is working on it, did castings etc. So why Sov to win? I like her, but seek clarification.
Baldwin is a toxic anvil-head but you don't have to be Mr Scientist to say 'there are still monkeys because humans and apes are descended from a common ancestor.' Like that Heidi is just bottom-lining his religiosity as geek behaviour. None of them are smart enough to cause an implosion by saying 'excessive religiosity is a sign of mental illness and BTW humans invented monotheism 6000 years ago, not the other way around.' I'm waiting for him to call Obama the Antichrist or something because he's such a wingnut; he got a bit het up when The Beach said she liked him.
― keyser (suzy), Friday, 8 January 2010 13:43 (fifteen years ago)
Sov to win basically because she's the nearest person there is to being normal. Basshunter and Vinnie for the same reason. Jones could seal the win if he tells Steve to STFU, which he may do in so many words, or possibly fewer! Steph has an outside chance of winning for the same STFU-Steve reason - might happen if an argument kicks off about Obama.

Dude, South Molton Street isn't up to much unless you're shopping in Browns or Browns Focus - and anyone who would say SMS instead of Browns is a bit silly and not to be taken seriously WRT fashion (anyway if the Beach needed a cinch waist in the Colbys, I'm sure Nolan Miller didn't whine). 1) The tasks are tedious - yesterday it was an "old people's home" task with Battricar racing, liquidised food, and a crossword puzzle.
2) The housmates aren't putting a lot of effort into the tasks. It's about the level of a rainy lunch break at school where everyone has to stay indoors.
3) The "hell is other people" theme seems to have been ignored. I thought it would be like "evil Big Brother" from whatever summer series it was, but it's just a bit of red wallpaper really.
4) No-one is really letting their guard down. Heidi especially, who is sleeping most of the time.
5) Everyone is pretty much acting the way we thought they would, in other words, no surprises like "oh Vern is crepey" like last year. So Dane, Sisqo, and Vinnie are the "normal guys". Nicola T "isn't as dumb as everyone thinks", er yeah we guessed that already. Ivana knows jack about cooking. Steph is snobby. Steve is arrogant.
6) The arguments are boring student house level stuff - for the "old people's home" task all the food had to be prepared by Steph and Ivana, and the latter made some liquidised cheese but put loads of water with it, and Vinnie complained about that a little bit, yaddayaddayadda.
7) OK so it's CBB, but this year some of the celebs are really Z list: Alex and Katia especially are famous simply because they are/were going out with someone else who is famous.
8) No-one seems to be pleased to be there, or even particularly happy, like Terry Christian. Everyone is mooching about the place CHEER UP YOU BUGGERS THIS IS A PAYCHEQUE!
9) It's pretty clear that Sov and Vinnie are favourites to win, even before there have been any evictions, which leads onto...
10) ...evictions 1 and 2: will be Katia and Heidi, with Sov pretty much guaranteed to be safe.

I was kind of enjoying it but it's gone a bit stale. Can't stand Stephanie. Sov seems to be getting ganged up on for very little other than hiding a tin of beans and eating a slice of corned beef (I mean who the fuck fights for extra tinned corned beef? Sick of Heidi displaying nothing whatsoever other than a habit of calling other people idiots for the slightest thing.
WTF @ Alex joining Stephen in prayer? Most easily influenced person I've ever seen, he's like that Fast Show character who agrees with everyone even when they're saying conflicting things.
Tired of Katia & Basshunter flirty crap.
Vinnie's got this wrapped up unless BB find a way of pushing his buttons.
― () |\| | |\/| () (onimo), Friday, 15 January 2010 01:01 (fifteen years ago)
Food seems the most likely way of getting to him...
BB: "Big Brother has some nice fish and chips for Vinnie!"VJ: "Oh great!"BB: "Oooooohhhhh, one of the other housemates sneezed! No fish and chips for Vinnie now!"VJ: "YOU BASTARDS!!!"
― an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Friday, 15 January 2010 09:13 (fifteen years ago)
That's a pretty damn good summary.
Which also leads me to..
Have the celebs been told to keep the swearing down to an absolute min? Vinnie talking about the 'effing lunches', Sov's "oh.. what?" etc.
Or maybe they're all professionals in front of the camera (or Steven)
― Mark G, Friday, 15 January 2010 09:24 (fifteen years ago)
Vinnie seems to be on a rebranding mission to prove to the GBP that he's not a short tempered bollock crushing loony hardman - but we already know that he isn't.Sov is probably very mindful that there are a million tabloid journalists waiting to use the SovChav angle the moment she utters so much as a "shit".I vaguely recall something on another reality TV show a few years ago where Dane said that his nan always watched when he was on TV, so he always watched the swears.
I was kind of enjoying it but it's gone a bit stale.
^^^ basically this. I really didn't pay any attention to it at all last night. But tonight is a double eviction, and if Heidi and Katia both go, then things might liven up a bit.
― an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Friday, 15 January 2010 10:15 (fifteen years ago)
Also when Sov wears her Su Pollard glasses, she looks alarmingly like someone I was at school with.

WTF @ Alex joining Stephen in prayer?
To most people, either the most creepy TV ever, or the biggest cause for joy and celebration, um,
― Mark G, Friday, 15 January 2010 14:12 (fifteen years ago)
Sov has been like a spoiled teenager since finding out she was up for eviction, the whole "you won't let me get exactly my way so I'm not eating dinner even though I was harassing you up to 5 minutes ago saying I was STARVING" routine during the old people task might still be enough to see her out tonight (although I concede the sparklit poll is usually right).
The only funny thing about the Kat/Basshunter routine was her claiming she only went with him was because "it's so sexually frustrating in here" after 2 FUCKING DAYS.
Alex and Steven last night was the most WTF moment of the series. Maybe Steven will tell him today that massive boooobs are the work of Satan and he will dump Jordan from inside the house.

― () |\| | |\/| () (onimo), Friday, 15 January 2010 14:30 (fifteen years ago)
I usually let Alex off the hook due to his obvious naiveté but I was disappointed he didn't admit to the others that it was he who agreed to swap his share of the corned beef for Sov's ham or whatever, he just joined in the pile-on like he wasn't part of the whole thing. lol @ the size of Sov's corned beef sarnie though, I think she had more than Alex's share in there.
I think BB should have played back the noms talk for Steven's benefit and showed up his selective memory/lying bastardness.
― () |\| | |\/| () (onimo), Friday, 15 January 2010 14:34 (fifteen years ago)
Did yous notice BB put in the wee "or a woman" aside from Sov into the highlights? It was a nothing conversation and it seemed to me they only used it as an OMG SOV IS GAY/BI! big reveal.
― () |\| | |\/| () (onimo), Friday, 15 January 2010 14:37 (fifteen years ago)

― Mark G, Friday, 15 January 2010 14:38 (fifteen years ago)
I can't remember exactly but something like:
Sov was talking about how she never goes to the gym or exercises and Ivana was saying that at her age it was essential. Then Ivana said something about how Sov should take care of herself and how exercise would sort her posture or whatever and help her find a fit man (either that or she should find a fit man to help her exercise, something like that). As Ivana turned away Sov muttered "or woman..."
― () |\| | |\/| () (onimo), Friday, 15 January 2010 14:46 (fifteen years ago)
The other thing I like was Vinnie's mastermind thing last night, where he deliberately picked the shit prizes for the questions he got right.
The bit I couldn't work out over the Steven noms thing was whether Nicola was swallowing his whole HE IS LYING TO YOU schtick. That's how blank her face is.

http://vote.sparklit.com/poll.spark/1111907 Heidi & Katia 52%Heidi & Lady Sov 12%Katia & Lady Sov 37%
I'm surprised the sparklit thing isn't closer, I think Sov's been shown in a bad light the last few days (I know blaming the editing is something of a cliché and I know she did everything shown) and they've managed to get Heidi sitting in places other than bed and actually engaging people in conversation.
Katia's a goner but Heidi might just survive. It'll be interesting though to see if attitudes to Sov change if she survives a double eviction.

vinnie is such a nasty bullying arsehole, surely he can't win this? worst kind of dipshit alpha male moron who treats people like shit while trotting out the 'just being honest' coda. cf: his totally unecessary "your boyf isn't premier league so you're not a real WAG" conversation with nicola.
great how sov isn't putting up with his shit. the way he was sat on the couch on eviction night, grinning, with his arm round heidi as if to say "don't worry, you've got me on your side and the great british public love me so you're safe m'dear". sov needs to tone down the brattiness a touch but it's hilarious to see her riling up all the oldsters.
dane is the only one who seems to have the smarts/balls to stand up to vinnie. hope it all comes to a head and they have a big showdown. alex reid seems a fairly nice bloke but so incredibly hilarious gullible, a screenshot of his face with steven converting him to god should be made into one of those black framed NLP pictures with the word 'BLAGGED' underneath. despite the snidey way she speaks about sov i can't help but be in awe of beacham, transfixed by the way she holds herself.
can't say i warmed to kat but davina's interview was shocking. she clearly didn't like her and it showed, so unprofessional and snidey. the whole "take a bit of advice from me... listen to what people say, etc" just unecessary and mean. esp after kat was booed so heavily - she's only a dippy kid after all, not a murderer. heidi is just a dick too, has some mistaken belief that vinnie jones is this nationally-adored sports star and the UK loves him so kept dropping his name and nodding to the crowd, expecting them to cheer his name and so bask in reflected glory.
but yeah, loving this series much more than recent ones. lots of great little extras like the countdown thing, tree of temptation, etc
― NI, Sunday, 17 January 2010 16:40 (fifteen years ago)
I'd even be so bold as to say that 21 year old Katia has her head screwed on a bit better than 21 year old Davina did.
― keyser (suzy), Sunday, 17 January 2010 17:17 (fifteen years ago)
If Kat were an unknown member of the public on BB, Davina's interview wouldn't been seen as particularly harsh. Kat is famous by the slimmest of margins, but I don't begrudge her using her fleeting fame as a way to earn some quick cash. And as a Rolling Stone's (ex?) girlfriend, she could have gone about that in far more unpleasant ways. CBB is a lot classier than some mangy tabloid exposé. However, as much as I dislike Heidi, she was OTM about Kat missing an opportunity when she said "she came in here as someone's girlfriend, and she left as someone else's girlfriend". Kat could have left the house as something a bit more than "Ronnie Wood's ex".
― an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Sunday, 17 January 2010 17:21 (fifteen years ago)
My kids reckon Basshunter's bigger than Ronnie Wood so she's taken a step up in their eyes.

Sov and Nicola T up for eviction.
surely he can't win this?
He was the only one not to get any nominations from the other housemates.
― an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Sunday, 17 January 2010 21:40 (fifteen years ago)
yeah the other housemates think he's great, the divs. greatest thing ever would be if it came to an eviction battle between him and sov and the GBP stuck with their underdog vote. would be a true delight to see this thoroughly unpleasant tosspot toppled by little sulky sov
only real hope is if BB arrange some sort of random vote-off that results in him being up for eviction. rumour has it they paid a fortune to get him on board so maybe they'd be reluctant to lose him so soon or maybe (pleasepleaseplease) they might want to give that ego a kicking
― NI, Sunday, 17 January 2010 22:02 (fifteen years ago)
If Sov survives this next vote, maybe the producers will switch to "vote to save" and put everyone up?
― an executive by day and a wild man by night (snoball), Monday, 18 January 2010 00:14 (fifteen years ago)
Dunno, how long's left?
an eviction battle between (vinnie) and sov
most likely, the final
and the GBP stuck with their underdog vote
Actually, this could go either way: Lately, the winner has reflected the type of person that watches Big Brother, rather than the 'common man of the people' that won early series.

(xpost)In the summer series, no-one walked in 2000, 2001, 2001, and 2004.
In CBB, no-one walked in 2001 or 2002 - there were only 6 housemates anyway. There was no CBB at all in 2003 or 2004.Germaine Greer was the first ever celeb to walk, in 2005.No-one walked in 2006.In 2007 Leo Sayer, Ken Russell, and Donny Tourette all walked.2008, no CBB again.Last year Mutya was the only one to walk.
― might seem normal (snoball), Wednesday, 20 January 2010 14:16 (fifteen years ago)
I felt that Vinnie was the most likely to walk, but he probably senses that he can win this now, so he'll stay. If Ivana is evicted then Steph might walk as she'll have no-one to talk about people with.
― might seem normal (snoball), Wednesday, 20 January 2010 14:19 (fifteen years ago)
There's an outside possibility that Dane or Jonas might walk if things get boring or if there are a lot of stupid fights about food, etc.. No way would Alex walk - if you tried to drag him out of the house he'd hang onto the carpet with his teeth.

Agreed on Dane. Apart from him feeling he has to stay on Vinnie's good side I think he's mostly been a straight and fun player. I loved his responses to people annoying him about food rations "Yes, you can eat everything, but then you'd be a prick. That's up to you."
Jonas is a bit meh mostly. I'd rather Rocky won it just to piss Vinnie off.
At the start of this I thought I'd enjoy Vinnie winding people up but it only took a couple of days for the underlying cruelty to show through.

gotta say, this has turned out to be the most enjoyable big brother yet. ignoring vinny's nastiness - which isn't hard, he's a dick but he's not *evil* - this final set of people has been a pleasure to watch. it's like they've all settled into their roles happily, all getting on well and having fun with it - like when they were all lolling at alex's fake tanning. other awesome bits have been pretty much everything the tree of temptation has ever said (stupid jonas for revealing the existence of it from the very start!), the occasional mtv-style-edited clips of the housemates all dancing and larking about to various songs, and just the general lack of aggro has made it much better tv than the past few series.
hate to say it, and i certainly didn't think so at the time, but maybe it was the right thing for sisqo and sov to go when they did, otherwise there would have been such tension in there, rather than the easy-going chuckles of late. would have much preferred it if vinny had left instead of ivana/nicola the other night though, the only hope now is that he doesn't win. i can't fathom why people would be voting for him to win - i get the feeling that if the last eviction was a 'vote for the housemate you want kicked out' he would have had a stronger chance of leaving. anyway, small gripe, overall this has been a glorious final series of CBB, i can't imagine the summertime series will be anywhere near as good.
my vote for winner now, probably alex as he's just a dopey lovable prat - though he does himself no favours when he lets his ego loose - and it'd bother vinny, but dane is decent enough too (the mission where he and jonas spent the night playing computer games and drinking beer was just wonderful) and i'd be happy if stephanie won. jonas is a nice guy, not winner-worthy though.

win market
Alex Reid 2/5 Dane Bowers 11/2 Vinnie Jones 15/2 Jonas Altberg aka Basshunter 25/1Stephanie Beacham 33/1
I know the bookie isn't always right but I can't see Vinnie winning it. The other housemates think he's favourite because of alpha male plus pre-show stories about them giving him $1m to enter but I heard a load of GET VINNIE OUT chanting during Ivana's exit.
― inoffensive alterna-poppage (onimo), Friday, 29 January 2010 10:33 (fifteen years ago)
(Dear Jim, please Fix It for me to determine the results of CBB 2010.) I would like to see them to be evicted in this order:
5th - Vinnie. He's a nasty bully. Particularly when Davina was in the house. It's a woman in a chicken costume, man, no need to get aggressive about it.4th - Alex. OK so he's stopped going on about fame. But he still keeps falling in as Vinnie's lieutenant. Reminds me very much of Mario from BB9.3rd - Jonas. I don't know if his thing with Katia counts as cheating on his girlfriend, but he's still a bit of a sleazeball. The guy is in his mid twenties, so it's probably asking a bit much, but I think that he could have stood up to Vinnie a bit more. Otherwise a dull housemate and an also-ran.2nd - Steph. Her snobbiness grates - she'd be my pick for winner otherwise - but she's put a brake on this final week becoming a swaggering hard-man contest.1st - Dane. Agree that he's a decent character. His tasks have consistently been the funniest, and it's clear that he's really being himself, where the others still have some sort of guard up.
― might seem normal (snoball), Friday, 29 January 2010 10:39 (fifteen years ago)
vinnie as horrible as the most horrible bb people ever. he went in there to prove people's preconceptions wrong and it seems like he thinks he has and thinks or says he's the perfect gentleman and just looking after people and all that bullshit rather than the reality of being rude and bitchy and sniping and hypocritical and overbearing and aggressive and boastful and oblivious and even a but of a fucking diva. the problem is though that he will never know about any of that. one can only hope his "acting" career fizzles out ASAP (not as a result of cbb or something but just because he's shit) and he continues to blow $1500 a day on household stuff before he even gets up and $400 on a pair of socks and goes bankrupt and eats a dick
― conrad, Friday, 29 January 2010 10:45 (fifteen years ago)
stephanie turned out to be a wittering moron
jonas funny but too much of a fanny
― conrad, Friday, 29 January 2010 10:46 (fifteen years ago)
dane the most semi-normal person in there shame that he needed to affirm vinnie's position quite so much and only stood up to him like once
― conrad, Friday, 29 January 2010 10:47 (fifteen years ago)
alex a total gonk but yes would wind up vinnie and he ain't a bad guy just a guy who is not smart and is dazzled by the idea of fame and easily led but quite honest and realistic in a way and tries v hard to be reflective and a clown. shame about the clown bit but oh well let him win
― conrad, Friday, 29 January 2010 10:48 (fifteen years ago)
This series has also had some of the most disturbing bits of TV I've seen in a long time. the kind of thing that taken out of context would've just been totally WTF. I mean, the furry animals getting all paranoid and potentially rapey with each other last night was simultaneously lolsome and REALLY freaky. And who in hell came up with that "here are a lot of real actual cow body parts and internal organs, now try to make them back into a cow" task? Proper stuff of nightmares.
― JimD, Friday, 29 January 2010 11:00 (fifteen years ago)
One of my friends who's been running hilarious summaries on FB said the furries task was 'Teletubbies remake Straw Dogs'.
Vinnie is enough of a bully/braggart that should I ever encounter him IRL my attitude will be BITCH I TAKE YOU DOWN. Mulholland Drive, I ask you? Also someone on Popbitch said he paid his cleaner in LA $2/hr (would not surprise me in the least, he seems the type of working class hero who reverts to colonial motherfucker as an expat).
Alex: a doof, and a wingman. In my meritocracy, spray-tan is a forfeit. Also, if he wins, he will believe people agreed with all that paranoid narcissism he spouts about the media. The production team are all nuts about him since he spray-tanned his junk.
Jonas: if you think a dance music artist in his 20s is dedicated to a life of happy monogamy, clubbing has not had any role in your life.
Steph: I didn't like her snobbishness when it was directed at people 1/3 her age but I don't mind it on a level playing field. Also: lived on a commune! Who knew?
Dane: should win. Kind of an Everydork.
― gnothi sautée (suzy), Friday, 29 January 2010 11:04 (fifteen years ago)
There should be a list of codes that translate to a "win BB factor"
1) Man of the people = 100 pts2) Closely resemble those that telephone vote for BB = 120 pts3) wide eyed innocent = 200 pts
― Mark G, Friday, 29 January 2010 11:04 (fifteen years ago)

He could at least have the decorum not to do it on national television. It's like making out with a girl at a club within sight of your girlfriend, but magnified by a million.

I really wish they'd given Davina more than a couple of disguised hours too. When she finally took her head off it was really strange to see how uncomfortable she was interacting with the rest of the house, it wasn't until she got back into the diary room that she turned back into herself. Almost like she's only capable of talking into cameras, and falls apart when it comes to normal human interaction. Seeing a week of that would've been GREAT.
― JimD, Friday, 29 January 2010 11:20 (fifteen years ago)
I forgot one incident..
George Lamb on BBLB interviewing Davina about "who do you fancy in there"
GL: "I mean, leaving aside Mr McColl for a minute.."
DMc: "(pause..) Oh, he would KILL you for calling him that! Mr Robertson, right?"
Jesus, what has George Lamb got on someone that he even gets work?
― Mark G, Friday, 29 January 2010 11:24 (fifteen years ago)
Maybe no-one will audition for the summer series and they'll have to send Davina in there. Along with a load of T4 presenters.

Bob's had more than one hit!
Actually, isn't it less to do with 'kids of old celebs' and more that 'they all live in the same area, close to TVland', thanks to local TV regions now being 'shells' supplied by London (or nearest close city until they all eventually merge with bigger cities until London wins), for the most part?
― Mark G, Friday, 29 January 2010 11:47 (fifteen years ago)

― inoffensive alterna-poppage (onimo), Friday, 29 January 2010 11:49 (fifteen years ago)
It's weird that people in the house think he's a proper seriously a-list famous guy. Limited footballer becomes limited actor via awful (but thankfully short) singing career. They were all wide-eyed at "I did X-Men, that was a hundred million dollar movie" when he was in it for all of 2 minutes, delivered one line and then ran into a fucking wall.
― inoffensive alterna-poppage (onimo), Friday, 29 January 2010 11:52 (fifteen years ago)
Vinnie rode in on Guy Ritchie's coattails and knows it, which is a sad indictment of who he is.
I won't write about them and nor should any journalist who complains about them, but it falls down a bit because editors are whores for this shit. Someone actually got a doc series on R4 following some of them to find out how damn hard it is to go creative when your parents are like rilly rilly famous, featuring Jennifer Saunders' daughter sqwicking with embarrassment at parents coming to watch her perform and also finding time to chat to Coco Sumner (who my mag will not cover because she's reputed to be a monster druggie).
― gnothi sautée (suzy), Friday, 29 January 2010 11:54 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, but admit you knew immediately when he was announced:
1) who he was2) how he'd be in the house.3) that all the other housemates would know who he is.
That's famous enough
― Mark G, Friday, 29 January 2010 11:54 (fifteen years ago)
vinnie jones is a total douche. i remember back when he was playing, he appeared on an irish chat show about how he was over in dublin trying to find irish roots to see if he would be eligible to play for ireland (even though jack charlton said 'we need vinnie jones like we need a hole in the head'). he was droning on, 'oh yeah the irish they got a bit of the 'ol heart, innit'. fast forward two months later hes lining out for wales with a fresh dragon tattoo and belting out the welsh national anthem.

clueless? lamb is more of a hateful bully than vinnie even, i couldn't watch bblb at all because of him being sneering and spiteful. one of the most vile people on tv right now. he's a rotten host too, his attempts at geeing up the audience are so weak and their reaction reflects it.
awesome news that vinnie is set to be the first out! although the guy who said he's one of the worst contestants of all time is waaay out, there are dozens equal or worse (sezer for one). thing is, he has flashes of decent-dadness, in how he does want a 'nice' house and cleans and offers (misguided) advice. it's just the role of alpha male requires someone to be almost 100% goodguy - any flaws become magnified, to the viewer anyway. it says a lot that everyone in there actually likes the guy. man, can't believe i'm defending vinnie jones - i still think he's a cock, but he has helped make a more unified house, esp in the past few days.
― NI, Friday, 29 January 2010 11:57 (fifteen years ago)
hmm, might want to googleplex that name up there, xposts..
I used to know (sot of) the daughter of a famous presenter of an ITV arts programme that's not on anymore, and she basically got by by never using her given surname. It only got out because my dad (who was on the PTA) asked him who he'd come to see (and being the proud father, naturally, gave it away)..
Then again, she 'gave it all up' and became an anglican priest.
― Mark G, Friday, 29 January 2010 11:58 (fifteen years ago)
The only person I wasn't aware of before was Nicola T!
What I meant was Vinnie's whole alpha dog thing is based on a lie.
I know plenty of famesprogs who don't call attention to themselves in a vulgar way (which is I guess what I object to - we've all gotta eat).

I didn't watch either the celeb or civilian* C5 BB's. As Cokehoser (a person who got thrown off X Factor for being, er, a coke hoser) is practically the most famous person there, I don't think I'll be watching.
(* highlight: someone shat in a fridge, but C5 couldn't show it, or seemingly even mention it)
I knew that BB would go downhill after it went over to C5, but I didn't expect it to happen so quickly. Josie winning BB11 seems like such a long time ago.
