Dead Pool 2010

New decade, new dead pool.

Rules are the same as last year. Post in this thread a list of 15 celebrities or other notable people. I'm not going to be a total stickler about notability requirements, but please try to be reasonable. If someone doesn't have a Wikipedia page at the very least, I'll probably ask you to choose someone else.

Also: humans only.

As usual, points are awarded based on the formula (100 - [age at death]). So picking Abigail Breslin (at 13) would get you a lot more points than picking Roberta McCain (at 97), were both to die.

Please post your lists to this thread by January 8. No lists will be accepted after that date. If someone dies before Jan. 8, only the people who have already submitted lists will be able to collect points. You may also revise your list at any time before Jan. 8; after that, you'll be locked in.

Lastly, I will be posting everybody's final picks to this Google spreadsheet and also updating the leaderboard there as the year goes on.

Good luck!

Damnit, I never read other people's picks on this thread first, and I thought Steven Tyler was pretty original. But no.

kenan, Sunday, 3 January 2010 16:12 (fifteen years ago)

Man, Robert Byrd was a wasted vote. Eight whole points.

kenan, Sunday, 3 January 2010 16:24 (fifteen years ago)

If Robert Byrd lives through this year, we should award him 100 honorary points, even though he's not playing.

kenan, Sunday, 3 January 2010 16:27 (fifteen years ago)

It's weird that you picked Pitt, Kenan. My original list had Jolie on it, as a wildcard.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Sunday, 3 January 2010 16:44 (fifteen years ago)

Not too weird. I just watched "Inglourous Basterds" a few days ago. That's what picking wildcards is all about, right? Just whatever pops into your head?

Mike Wallace was also like that with me, but then I realized it's not a bad pick.

Love the classic TMZ webcam-looking photo, with him seeming to be unscrewing the top from a bottle of Jack. Wouldn't surprise me if TMZ doctors file photos to make them look more "you-were-there, with-a webcam".

are debt and wages an issue with Bolton? in a crisis-level way that they are at pompey or west ham?

also bottom half of table is in relegation threat. winning those two games in hand (at least one is a possibility) would put us 10th in the table. it's hardly desperate times just yet.

PHILADELPHIA

A relative says soul singer Teddy Pendergrass has died in suburban Philadelphia at age 59.

The singer's son, Teddy Pendergrass II, says his father died Wednesday at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Pendergrass' son says his father underwent colon cancer surgery eight months ago and had "a difficult recovery."

The elder Pendergrass was injured in a car accident in 1982. He suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed from the waist down. He spent six months in a hospital but returned to recording the next year with the album "Love Language."

Dennis Hopper, who is reportedly facing his 'final days surrounded by family and friends,' filed for divorce yesterday from his wife of 14 years, Victoria Hopper, the mother of their six-year-old daughter Galen.

Victoria is wife number five, but this marriage has far outlasted the previous four, which included the 8-day marriage to Michelle Phillips. He and Victoria have been together for 18 years. So what happened?

Adding to the confusion, a family friend told Huffington Post that Hopper is mentally incapacitated from the enormous amounts of medication he is on given his state.

A long time friend of the couple said, "It's truly a tragedy, and sadly its all about the money and who inherits what. This is about getting Victoria out of the will, nothing more, nothing less."

Hopper has three grown children, Marin, Henry and Ruthiana, although he reportedly has not spoken with Ruthiana in recent years. Both Marin, her daughter and Henry have lived for years in the same Venice, California compound as Dennis, Victoria and Galen and continue to do so at this juncture.

Hopper has been battling cancer for almost a decade, but has rapidly declined in recent months.

I'll probably put her on my list next year unless she finds Jesus -- what's the problem? I'm not wishing her ill... it's just a matter of seeing a celebrity driving off a cliff and thinking "huh...there goes a celebrity, driving off a cliff."

Grisly Addams (WmC), Friday, 28 May 2010 22:35 (fifteen years ago)

jaymc, Monday, 26 July 2010 13:35 (fifteen years ago)

I'll take the 18 since until a few weeks ago I thought he was dead already. I believe that is fair. Especially since my list, IIRC, has half of the Togolese national football team in it.
